Jim, we have only begun to mine the dirt-rich lode that
is the Edwards-Rielle saga. It's fraught with political
significance.
Howard Wolfson asserts that, had it not been for the cover-up
of the affair, Hillary would have won Iowa and went on to win the
nomination:
"Our voters and Edwards' voters were the same people,"
Wolfson said the Clinton polls showed. "They were older, pro-union.
Not all, but maybe two-thirds of them would have been for us and we
would have barely beaten Obama."
A friend of Hunter's says
Edwards is still lying, and former Edwards campaign chairman
Rep. David Bonior is furious:
"People put their heart and soul into the John Edwards
campaign for President of the United States," said Bonior. "They
put their energy, they put their time, the put their resources in,
they gave them their confidence and in the end, he wasn't there
for them."
Don't tell me this scandal is over. It's not over until
we
say it's over. Enquiring minds want to know!
