Limited goverment isn't very popular in the current political
climate and cutting federal programs that benefit the middle class
is exceedingly difficult, to say nothing of politically dangerous.
Conservatives need to adapt to these political realities without
completely capitulating to them. I argue today in the Politico that big
government conservatism, which seems like the easy solution for
Republicans in a new era of big government, is in fact a path to
failure.
