In calling for Hillary Clinton to withdraw from the presidential race, George
McGovern, alas, is just remaining true to his cut-and-run self.
Only last October our Phil Klein caught up
with him at an Iowa rally at which McGovern, in introducing
Hillary to the 2,000 strong crowd, explained why he was being true
to her:
"I hope to live long enough to see a black president in the
White House," McGovern said. "But we have an old rule and courtesy
in the United States: 'ladies first.'"
First abandoned, it sounds more like.
