If you missed it, I'd strongly urge everybody to check out
Justice Scalia's interview on "60 Minutes" here, which captures his charm and sense of
humor, and his love for intellectual combat. One of my favorite
parts came when he was asked how he could be such close friends
with Justice Ginsburg, even though he disagrees with her so
vehemently.
He said:
"I attack ideas. I don't attack people. And some
very good people have some very bad ideas. And if you can't
separate the two, you gotta get another day job. You don't want to
be a judge. At least not a judge on a multi-member
panel."
I wish a lot more people could understand this distinction.
