"There are certain things you
can't prepare for. I guarantee you, this is one thing I never
expected to occur. It is one person who committed, I believe, a
horrific act-a horrific act-and therefore not only victimized his
victims, but victimized this department, the media and the 13,500
people who work here."--Bob Butterworth, head of the Florida
Department of Children and Families,
on the arrest of Al Zimmerman, his agency spokeman, for
soliciting young boys for sexual purposes.
Indeed. Actually my concern for the media and the Florida
Department of Children and Families, so terribly (allegedly)
brutalized by Zimmerman, was so great, I plain forgot about the
young boys at all. I'm sure they've had a rough time of it, too,
though. After we tend to the wounds of the media and the
bureaucrats we should definitely check in to see how the kids are
feeling.
