New polls out in Florida show a tight 4-person race. Team Rudy is touting the huge crowds he got over the weekend and reminding us that early voting started today. The morning Rudy email notes that 221,053 absentee ballots have been requested with more than 41,000 returned and that in 2004 and 2006 30% of votes were not cast at the voters polling place (I assume this was a combination of early and absentee voting.) Rudy of course has been there almost nonstop and shows no interest in detouring to SC. Like Thompson in SC, Rudy is "all in" in Florida. Unlike Thompson, however, he's in a statistical tie for now for the lead. Whether that will be true after this week's two primaries and one caucus (ah yes, remember Nevada) remains to be seen. Sunday morning we'll either have greater clarity or one big free for all, as I explain here.
