Narrative?

Oh, Wlady, Wlady, Wlady.... I do not see how it could NOT be a coup for Thompson. If the gazillionaire onetime odds-on favorite for the nomination pulls out of the race and JOINS your campaign before you have won a single primary, that is a HUGE story that immediately says, "Look at me; I've got something going on, dude." It immediately says Thompson is viable. As for Romney, IF he loses Michigan, the choice is between going home as a loser, or living as a loser who nevertheless survived as part of a national ticket. I mean, again, the whole predicate of my post was that Romney loses Michigan (NOT a prediction; a hypothetical). The option then is, does he want to be John Connally circa 1980, with a dead political career, or does he want to be George Bush circa 1980, catching on somebody else's coat-tails so as to remain viable another day?
