Sorry Quin, I don’t see the sell in this idea. Reagan and Ford
toyed with the idea of dividing up the normal role of the
presidency along these lines and it struck everyone as
inappropriate. More germane to the fun question posed (and this
stuff is fun) is why in the world Thompson would want to bring on
Romney if he lost three major primaries in a row, has gained a
reputation of a poser and is doing
so poorly with key GOP groups (e.g. every income group except
$150-200K earners, evangelicals) while sporting the only negative
favorable/unfavorable rating among the name GOP contenders. After
basing his campaign on an explicitly anti-Romney theme ( the
“consistent conservative”) , Thompson, I think, would not turn
around and cozy up to him.
