Jim Geraghty pretty much nails the spin memo put out by the Romney folks. I would add the assertion that he is the most competitive against the Democrats is belied by the only facts available -- polls. As I've discussed before, McCain clearly is the most electable of the GOP based on poll data at this point. Second, at least some exit polling which I highlighted today shows that McCain won narrowly with NH GOP voters. Finally, the GOP polls as a whole show no dramatic shift toward Romney at the end of the race.(Pulling out one poll which dramatically msised the mark and saying "look we improved!" strikes me as insulting our intelligence.) It is hard to imagine who would be reassured by this sort of thing.
