Huckabee more Presidential at start and finish but significantly weaker in the middle. He did little to boost himself in NH. McCain kept his sails trimmed. Dignified but assertive: good on tone and content. Rudy wasn’t bad but seemed extra. Fred excellent but he can’t seize command.

Big story: Romney stopped the bleeding, showed strength and focus under pressure, can take the pileon and come out whole. But he couldn’t best McCain, who knew when to cool it.

Small story: Wallace not the greatest moderator of all time.
