Busy news at the end of the day yesterday. Politico found( they actually were sent by the candidate whose father they adore) two senior citizen ladies who say they saw MLK march with George Romney. This seemed strange since when Madden spokesman went on Hardball and got the full Chris Matthews evisceration he didn't bring up the ladies. Well there was likely good reason. This report seems rather persuasive-- If King contemporaneously said Romney wasn't there it makes it tough to say he was. Still it is undisputed that Romney didn't in the real, telling the truth sense of the words "see" any marching or as he once claimed "march" himself. This all seems exactly the conversation Romney doesn't want going on -- talking heads arguing about whether there is a Gore like pattern of exaggeration. By the way, as pointed out in the Boston Phoenix article none of this should diminish George Romney's role in civil rights.
