Rudy again seems agitation free( I harp on this because as someone who watched him for years in NYC I find it nothing short of a transformation). He maintains that all security was based on NYPD threat assessment. Russert seems uninterested in any financial implications( probably a good idea not to go through accounting 101). After a tussle about when the Judith relationship became public Russert seemed subdued. I realize this is all important stuff but I am surprised that only a few minutes of this interview have been spent on any policy ---abortion? no immigration? no taxes? the Romney speech? no. Is this helpful? Well had Rudy lost his temper or gotten stumped I supposed it would have been revealing but I find the lack of substance just remarkable. UPDATE: Avoids a swipe at Huckabee on AIDS. Oh no! A policy question on fuel efficiency: he says in favor of alternative energy sources. And he has a goal to balance the budget (more substance in the final seconds).
I suspect the Rudy people are very pleased he survived without incident. I thought it was a waste of the hour.
