Russert spends eons on poll number which seems a waste of time
but progresses to Iran where Rudy stresses the military option
always remains on the table and "we keep the pressure on."
UPDATE: On Iraq he says we will be there until our strategic
objective is met- stability and an ally in the war on terror.
(Democracy is not on the list.) He cautions against a
timetable--saying we've never done this in other wars. Asked about
terrorism and why he wasn't briefing his people on the danger, he
says neither he nor the administration envisioned an attack like
9-11. He details measures to protect against suicide bombers at the
time. He generally seems calm and in command of the details so far.
On the Iraq Study Group he and Russert go around and around-- Rudy
says it was a mistake to be on the panel as a presidential
candidate. Russert bores in but Rudy avoids appearing irritated
after multiple questions on an issue GOP voters I suspect care not
one whit about.
