That's the endorsement that the Giuliani
campaign had everybody speculating about yesterday, leading some to
suggest it would be South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford. Thompson
said:
"Rudy Giuliani has shown that he is a true leader.
He can and will win the nomination and the presidency. He is
America's mayor, and during a period of time of great stress for
this country he showed tremendous leadership," Thompson, the former
Wisconsin governor, said in a statement obtained by the Associated
Press.
Given that Thompson didn't make much of a dent in the race, I'm not
sure this should be considered a major endorsement, but Thompson
was still a respected governor and I suppose it's a good sign when
a former rival backs you. Makes it seem as if he's betting on the
winner.
