The new and utterly engaging Campaign Standard has a take on the Rudy vs. Romney face off here. I agree Rudy has a strong comeback on the line item veto and his NY City record but what would Romney's alternative be? He could talk about sanctuary cities but now there are those pesky crime records. (Rudy's response will be I was fighting crime so I let illegals come forward to cooperate with the police.) Romney could talk about social issues but that seems to have limited appeal (or rather appeal to a limited number of voters) in NH. Until recently he was running a remarkably positive campaign and it would seem talking about his success as he sees it with health care (as well as education where test scores improved significantly and he favored school choice) or his private sector experience would be themes for him to stress. But I suspect he feels the need to go after Rudy and is searching for a way to do it.
