Gearing up for the NRA tomorrow, team Rudy has a
press release on his
position on guns. In short: 1) He was tough on crime and did it by
punishing criminals who used guns; 2) He is promising more of the
same as President; 3) He wants to enforce laws on the books and not
pass more gun laws; 4) He supports the Parker decision finding an
individual right to gun ownership and 5) Lots of "A" NRA rated
legislators support him. This seems the best tactic under the
circumstances. He's not going to get the NRA endorsement but he is
hoping to make the point that they(both the NRA officially and
individual voters who care about the Second Amendment) don't have
to fear him. It will be interesting to see how Romney handles his
own past record.
