McCain Still Matters

Jill Hazelbaker is in and out goes the rest of the national McCain communications staff, perhaps the best run and most effective part of his campaign. Since his campaign has boiled down to a regional effort in New Hampshire, Iowa and South Carolina it makes sense to put Hazelbaker, who ran the NH press operations, in charge. But I think it a mistake to overlook McCain. He will be a consistent voice in the campaign, there to point out his rivals foibles and make life uncomfortable for the unprepared or inconsistent opponent in his path. His campaign, if nothing else, will be a platform for his advocacy on Iraq and government spending.
