A rival campaign points me toward Mitt Romney's second-quarter financial report,
which shows a burn rate just shy of 99 percent. Including the $6.5
million he donated to the campaign himself, Romney took in
$20,997,715.31 and spent more than $20,739,814.25.
Romney has spent that money building his organization, and by
taking out advertisements in early primary states, which have given
him leads in Iowa and New Hampshire, and brought more credibility
to his campaign. But can he maintain this pace given that his
fundrasing totals declined from the first quarter to the second
quarter? Or will he have to kick in more and more of his own
money?
