Change in leadership of course means change in chairmen for committees, subcommittees, etc. One of those new leaders is almost certain to be North Carolina Rep. David Price, who is expected to head the House Appropriations subcommittee that deals with homeland security. He was asked by The News & Observer of Raleigh about the fate of the 700-mile fence along the U.S.-Mexico border:

Price called it "bumper-sticker legislation."

The new fence is just an authorization, with no money attached. Price's committee would have to pay for the thing.

Asked about funding the fence, Price paused to consider.

"I don't know," he said.

For now, Price hopes Congress will come up with what he would consider a better approach to securing the border.

I'm sure he'd have the same answer if asked what that better approach would be.
