A Further Perspective

Obama’s Trojan Horse Dinner

He only needed to snooker half of the senators he fed.

Last Thursday President Obama had twelve Republican members of the United States Senate to dinner at Washington’s Jefferson Hotel. What had come over this man who, for more than four years, had exhibited frequent disdain for Republicans in general and Congressional Republicans in particular?

The reason escaped the “mainstream” media, but was not that hard to see. For two weeks leading up to March 1 when the budget sequester began he had preached daily the end of civilization as we know it. Children would be deprived of food, old folks would be thrown out in the snow, and so forth. Then, to make sure everyone knew how painful it would be — thanks to Congressional Republican intransigence —  he arranged immediately to cancel White House tours, using Secret Service staffing problems as an alibi.

Alas, playing Dr. Doom didn’t work. The appeal of school children to tour “our house” got wide coverage. Obama’s poll numbers went down. There was no catastrophe. In fact, there was no apparent change in daily life except the lack of White House tours.

It was reported that Obama and his guests dined on lamb. In fact, the main course was meat from a Trojan Horse. The hastily-called dinner was not an unveiling of a new, cooperative negotiating partner, but an element in a new strategy by the Old Obama. By schmoozing with them, Obama hopes to sweet talk six into voting for the Democrats’ Senate bill to undo the sequester. The intention is, with just enough Republican Senate votes, to send a bill to the House that contains either no entitlement reforms (Social Security, Medicare) or, if any, ones so tiny as to be only cosmetic. It will probably include provisions to cut “loopholes” from the tax code, but without passing on the new revenue to taxpayers in the form of reduced rates (a House Republican promise). The funds will be used instead to continue Obama’s profligate spending (such as for a program to create robotic squirrels, as noted by Sen. Tom Coburn)

Then, when the House rejects the bill, Obama’s mouthpiece, Jay Carney, will say with a straight face, “He did everything he could. He worked with Republicans in the Senate, but the House just wouldn’t let go of its protection of millionaire and billionaire tax loopholes.”  And Obama, himself, will once again level daily barrages at Republicans. So much for the Trojan Horse Dinner.

In short, the dinner was part of an Obama plan to position himself on moral high ground when it come time to again cast blame. Indeed, if the bill in question fails it will be followed by a series of seemingly coincidental results of the sequester: long security lines at airports, Head Start programs shut down, and national parks closed. When this happens bear in mind who is in charge of the federal government’s Executive Branch.

Barack Obama has done nothing to promote tax policies aimed at producing economic growth and creating jobs. Instead of culling out undue regulations, he has promoted ever more regulations and red tape that reduce economic efficiency and prevent the nation from taking advantage of the energy bonanza under our feet. Today, the federal government soaks up the equivalent of 25 percent of the nation’s Gross Domestic Product. That compares with the 18 percent that is normal. The difference must come out of the private sector, thus inhibiting its ability to create jobs.

In a zero-sum economy, for everyone who does well someone else must do poorly. That is a notion the American Left has inherited from the Marxists. Too bad Obama seems to have heard that message and not the one John F. Kennedy left us, “A rising tide lifts all boats.”

News Flash: Obama is dishonest! Okay, we get that. Now what?

Mike G| 3.11.13 @ 8:10AM

WE get it, but it seems that several Republican Senators might not see that as a problem. Possibly because they are, too?

davidh| 3.11.13 @ 12:37PM

What is interesting to me is how the Democrats are arguing for “democracy” in our republic.

Polls are displayed to show the will of the American people is being thwarted by the House of Representatives to stop:
1. Gun control
2. Immigration reform
3. Progressive tax and spend agenda
4. Abortion
5. Same sex everything

It is fascinating to watch the media whine about how the election settled these issues and the Republicans are obstructing the will of the people. Go to liberal sites and read the comments from their faithful about how democracy should rule over the concept of the Republic.

The position of the minority in the USA is not as weak as we are lead to believe.
1. Republicans control 30 governorships highest since 2000
2. House majority is relatively safe in Red States
3. 10th amendment gives power to the states, leadership should use it
Obama can never do what he wants to do to the USA as long as this structure exists.

Hold the Republicans feet to the fire and Obama will be stopped. That is why the media and democrats need to attack the Tea Party. This minority has power and needs to be conservative to wield it.

The "dinner" was to drive a wedge into the Tea Party and seperate conservatives.

Is The Muslim's new CIA Director a Muslim?

Did he Convert to the Muslim God of Blood and Cruelty and MURDER?

How about we talk about THAT Trojan Horse?

Robert| 3.11.13 @ 1:06PM

Of course a Muslim! One doesn't refuse to take an oath to a Christian God otherwise.

And, in a regime where symbolism is Job One, using instead a draft of the Constitution sans Bill of Rights shows Brennan's disregard for our fundamental protections against government intrusion.

A CIA director so sworn has not forsworn use of drones against innocent Americans. After the drones start shooting, he can always say, "But I never swore to uphold those pesky 10 amendments!"

What a disgraceful bunch of corrupt crooks !! It's time retire these bums, unfortunately the pensions and benefits they will receive are surely not sequestered.

Sjccoach| 3.11.13 @ 9:25AM

This is why the Republicans will lose the House in 2014. The presidency was lost when 3,000,000 conservatives stayed home and did not vote for a RINO. When the RINOS compromise again, the grand bargain, the same people will stay home in the off year election and the House will be lost. My representative is a RINO. If he is renominated I'll vote in the state elections but not in the federal election. Better a real Democrat than a RINO.

TLP| 3.11.13 @ 9:41AM

I don't know ya, but you sound pretty stupid.

To listen to you, those 3 Million folks with the Halos over their heads did the right thing in staying home that night, and telling themselves that their Sh*t doesn't stink. And, God Bless'em if they didn't absolutely get what they were wishing for. By crackie, they sure showed the rest of us.

Instead of Voting for someone who WASN'T Hitler? They stayed home and ostensibly got Hitler Re-elected, because the other guy had Red Hair, instead of Brown.

And now you, being the Genius that you are, can't wait till 2014 rolls around so you can sit home and smell your own sh*t, too.

You people are the Political Equivilent of Christian Scientists.

You'd rather let your Kid Die, than take him to a Hospital because of your Superior Belief System.

Hey Idiots! If God didn't want your Kid to go to the Hospital, he wouldn't have Created so many Doctors.

Hey Idiots! Something is better than Nothing. Even the Worst Republican is better than the Best Democrat.

Now, flush the toilet.

"John McCain is an American Hero who was in a Vietcong Prison." Not for nuthin, but I think that the Statute of Limitations ran out on that whole deal, a Long Time Ago.

In fact.......Why is this guy still in the Senate? What is he trying to get accomplished? Does he think that he's Indispensable? Cause, if he does? I'd be more than happy to drop him off at the nearest Graveyard, with all the rest of the Indispensable Men.

This President has tried everything to Pissoff John McCain, to no avail. He's been at it for 5 Years now, and with nothing to show for it. Meanwhile......it only took Rand Paul a few Hours to get Senator 9 Mansions (or, is it 10?) to take the microphones to denounce the members of his own Party for throwing a Wet Blanket on his "Dinner with Andre". (I mean: Abu)

Ya see.........anyone who believes that it's better to "Die on their Feet" has Zero Value to Senator Sunday Show. And, unless you can offer him something? What good are ya?

Everything he does, he does now, for the Historical Record. For Michael Beschloss, and that other IDIOT - Brinkley. Like the Rotting Corpse of that POS, Fat Drunk, Left a Girl to Die, Traitor: Ted Kennedy - McShitstain wants to be "Remembered Fondly" by all of his "Friends" on both sides of the aisle, as the Maverick that he was (In his own mind) and Flucke You, your Kids, and their Kids, too.

Clearly what we need are more young turks with courage and fewer old bulls still trying to get along with the dictator. Resemble the last days of the Roman republic before Caesar it may and knowing that we might still have a chance.

CJW| 3.11.13 @ 11:02AM

We can always count on McCain to criticize other Republicans, especially conservatives. The only conservative view of McCain is that he is pro life, otherwise he has made a career of "reaching across the aisle" in his words. It is almost like he has a delayed Stockholm syndrome to cooperate with the Dems.

You can expect the craven and corrupt cabal of R senators who dined with Obozo to cave, because power is their sole reason for being.
McLame has apparently finally gone completely around the bend with his unintelligible childish diatribe in calling Sen. Paul and company loony birds. And he made the comment to the Huffington Post!!!
Last week could have been McLame's finest moment in Washington, had he stood with Paul and the filibuster. Instead, McLame's arrogance, stupidity, and lust for power and attention once again put him on the side of the corrupt Washington insiders.
Washington is diseased and corrupted, we've said it a thousand times. It will take a major upheavel to upset this sickening status quo.

The reason Rand Paul pissed off the GOP elite like Mc"Sacrificial"Lamb and Lindsey "Lohan" Grand is that this was a well prepared media extravaganza. Our Dear Leaders on both sides of the "Guile" were staging a come to Jesus, reach across the "guile" marionette show to show the morons among us that they were doing God's work.
But then came along the esteemed Rand Paul who was full of substance and not crap. He spoke to the conservative base, libertarians and even old-style Democrats that believed in civil rights. Remember when Democrats liked civil rights? OK perhaps many are not that old.
So the "Steak" was on the floor of the Senate why they served up "Sizzle" for the stupid among us. And the great Rand Paul disclosed that the sizzle on the elites plate was seared horse$hit.

Seeing how con-men give me indigestion I would always refuse. No doubt a similar scenario was played out at the Jefferson Hotel as shuck-n-jive hustler Barack Obama tried to rope-a-dope 6 Republican Saps into going along with the Senate Democrat bill to cancel the sequester. If any of these Republican Senators are wavering and unsure of the correct course of action I would suggest doing exactly what WWII General Anthony McAuliffe acting commander of the 101st Airborne Division at Bastogne, Belgium did when informed by the German General Von Luttwitz to either surrender or face annihilation. That’s 36 months of uninterrupted private sector job growth since we hit the the bottom of the Bush Depression.

Drunken Sailor| 3.11.13 @ 1:04PM

Do you have any idea what the population growth was in Febuary? That 236,000 jobs didn't even keep up.

The only reason the unemployment number is down is millions of people have been unemployed so long that they ran out their benefits and the goverment no longer counts them.

Add to that fact that many have taken part time jobs and many more have taken second jobs just to make ends meet, just skews those numbers even more.

And lets hear it for the record number of food stamp receipents! Go team Obama!!

Yes, 236,000 jobs is about 100,000 more jobs that is needed to keep pace with the average monthly growth in the working population.

Do you have any idea what the job loss numbers were for the last month of the Bush Administration?

Answer: Minus 750,000.

Anthony| 3.11.13 @ 2:36PM

Notice how this moron can pivot on a dime? Here he says Obozo's economy is creating 100,000 MORE jobs than needed to keep pace with the growing working population.
Yet below, moron suggests millions of un/under employed need foodstamps because of greedy corporations.
No wonder the left are blithering dizzy idiots!!!

vtwin| 3.11.13 @ 3:17PM

OK, smaller bits for Anthony.

Bush and the Republicans tanked the economy in December of 2007 and the economy started losing jobs.

The economy continued to lose jobs through the end of the Bush Administration and into the beginning of the Obama Administration.

This Bush Depression eventually cost millions of American jobs.

Add to this failure of conservative economics, the greed of Corporate America underpaying employees and outsourcing jobs and you have…million of unemployed and underemployed Americans.

Enter Obama; 36 month ago, once Obama polices were in place, the turnaround began and we have seen a steady increase in the number of employed Americans. 6.25 million private sector jobs.

But there are two problems preventing the economy from returning to the employment rates we witnessed during the Clinton years, income distribution and job outsourcing. Obama was successful in raising the marginal tax rates on the wealthiest but we need to close the tax loopholes that benefit the rich to the point where their tax liabilities as a percentage of their incomes are lower than the lowest paid worker and we need to close the loopholes that reward companies that outsource jobs.

Can you tell us how Bush and the Republican Tanked the Economy, when the Democrats controlled Both Houses of Congress in 07 and 08?

vtwin| 3.11.13 @ 2:37PM

Mr. Sailor,

Do you have any idea what how many private sector jobs have been add to our economy since the Bush Depression ended 36 month ago?

Answer: 6.35 million but you will not find those numbers in Weekly Standard or any other rags from the conservative entertainment complex.

Drunken Sailor| 3.11.13 @ 3:00PM

Well let's see. Since the US population grows at roughly 2.5 million people a year that means we have grown by (Using your questionable date of 36 months ago) 7.5 million. Your boy is still in the hole dipsht.

I know I'm wasting data on you but here it is anyway.
From the Burea of Labor statistics.
The unemployment rate edged down to 7.7 percent in February but has shown
little movement, on net, since September 2012. The number of unemployed
persons, at 12.0 million, also edged lower in February. (See table A-1.)

In February, the number of long-term unemployed (those jobless for 27 weeks
or more) was about unchanged at 4.8 million. These individuals accounted for
40.2 percent of the unemployed. (See table A-12.)

The number of persons employed part time for economic reasons, at 8.0 million,
was essentially unchanged in February. These individuals were working part
time because their hours had been cut back or because they were unable to
find a full-time job. (See table A-8.)

Drunken Sailor| 3.11.13 @ 3:02PM

In February, 2.6 million persons were marginally attached to the labor force,
the same as a year earlier. (The data are not seasonally adjusted.) These
individuals were not in the labor force, wanted and were available for work,
and had looked for a job sometime in the prior 12 months. They were not
counted as unemployed because they had not searched for work in the 4 weeks
preceding the survey. (See table A-16.)

Among the marginally attached, there were 885,000 discouraged workers in
February, down slightly from a year earlier. (These data are not seasonally
adjusted.) Discouraged workers are persons not currently looking for work
because they believe no jobs are available for them. The remaining 1.7
million persons marginally attached to the labor force in February had not
searched for work in the 4 weeks preceding the survey for reasons such as
school attendance or family responsibilities. (See table A-16.)

Notice all the people not working and no longer even counted? Notice all the people that are now working part time? They help lower your unemployment numbers even though they are making less.

Drunken Sailor| 3.11.13 @ 3:18PM

Here's another little tool to educate you. The atlanta FED has a handy dandy little jobs calculator tool.

http://www.frbatlanta.org/chcs...../index.cfm

Notice how part of the calculation is based on labor force participation rate? Check out the Burea of Labor statistics on that and you will see it was 65.8% in Dec of 2008 and stayed above 65% all the way through Nov of 2009 (remeber who was in office at this time?) It has slowly dropped, with the occasional uptick, down to today's rate of 63.5%

Yea, he has done a bang up job of job creation hasn't he?

TLP| 3.11.13 @ 4:45PM

"When Bush began his first term in January 2001, total non-farm employment was 132.47 million" and when Bush left office on January 2009 total non-farm employment was 133.56 million. EIGHT years of Bush and only 1.09 million new jobs add to our economy. Talk to me in four years!

http://www.usnews.com/news/blo.....rge-w-bush

Drunken Sailor| 3.11.13 @ 4:53PM

So you think the second four years are going to be any better than the first four? Not paying attention are you?

Anthony| 3.11.13 @ 1:04PM

vtwin, one of the twin towers of idiocy who post here is at it again. Of course, armed with the aid of the government's Rube Goldberg statistical construct, that only denizens of padded rooms could devise.
The phony and laughable G3 unemployment statistic does not include those millions who have dropped out of the labor pool.
Also, only the governmnent could construct a way to show a statistical decrease in unemployment by dividing a reduced number of eligible job seekers into a reduced number of available jobs, hence PRESTO CHANGO, a reduction in unemployment!!!
Now the G6 statistic does include all those Americans who have been chronicly unemployed as well as the underemployed. It factors in the 8 million jobs lost since Obozo took office. The G6 unemployment rate is around 15%, Obozo depression numbers.
One would think, knowing that the Obozo economy actually SHRUNK last quarter, that any moron citing Obozo's Amazing Kreskin's phony job numbers would think twice.
But then again, it's vtwin that we're talking about. Nuf said.

Bob K| 3.11.13 @ 1:12PM

You should know bullshit when you see it Troll, because you hand it out all the time!

In December 47 million Citizens and Illegal Immigrants were on Food Stamps which they contributed to the economy. They were paid for from the taxes of the middle class!

A Job is not a property right or personal possession. WORK is a duty. Employment is a privilege. The world is an arena. All life on this planet is based on Competition. The people who inhabit this country are mostly incapable of survival, not that they deserve it. And money still bears the Legend, "In God We Trust." It does not say "I want my Mommy!" Capital goes where it is welcome and stays where it is well treated. The current Sand Box mentality and culture of the populace is antithetical to that.

Yes, and remember; there are also millions of illegal aliens getting food stamps because left wing losers like you vote for politicians who suck up the taxes paid by "we the tax-payers" and give them, in the form of food stamps, to these lawbreakers from south of our border instead of to "underemployed Americans."

Here’ a link to the eligibility requirements for food stamps and I’m afraid you have been misinformed, probably by the conservative entertainment complex, as to who is or is not eligible to receive benefits under the food stamp program.

Oh sure, vtwin!

All of those "honest" illegal aliens along with the legal recipients are reporting every penny of income they earn when they apply for Food Stamps. Sure enough dude!

What a gullible nit wit you are!

Do you really believe the stuff you throw out here? I can't imagine being so snowed by some charlatan that I would be so far gone. Is there ANYTHING your messiah could do that would make you start doubting him? Just curious.

My guess is that Obama left the 12 Republican Senators with the bill for dinner. These guys must like the spotlight so much that they are happy to serve as a PR prop for Obama. Maybe they can stand behind Mrs. Obama at the next Academy Awards presentation.

True Conservatives believe in being fair to EVERYONE, you know no 'Class Warfare' of course this is Baloney, when you are fair to everyone, you aren't fair to ANYONE. This can be EASILY demonstrated, let say Rock Star Bon Jovi is hanging with two High School Pals, One is a Teacher, and the other a Cop.A FIRST grader would say the the "Fair' thing to do is if they want to go out to eat, they EACH pay one time, by the THIRD grade, kids are sophisticated to know that is NUTS for a Teacher to be paying for a Rock Star's Dinner...Conservatives haven't YET learned that simple fact.

Programs shut down? You mean there might be life without government "programs"? What a novel idea :-). Let's see how far we can run with it.

Head Start programs shut down, and national parks closed. When this happens bear in http://www.toairmaxfr.com/ mind who is in charge of the federal government’s Executive Branch.
