The Obama Watch

Obama’s Random Mutations

His “evolution” on gay marriage has been one big lie.

Barack Obama’s position on gay marriage hasn’t so much “evolved” as revolved. In 1996, as a state Senate candidate in Illinois, he told Outlines (which became the Windy City Times), a gay magazine based on Chicago’s North Side, that he supported “legalizing same-sex marriages, and would fight any effort to prohibit such marriages.”

Even some on the left acknowledge that he and his aides have been lying about his supposed evolution on gay marriage for years. “He always supported it,” David Plotz of Slate has written.

In order to win the White House in 2008 and 2012, Obama and his aides just decided to dupe the American people. They claimed that Obama hadn’t filled out that 1996 gay marriage survey, even though his signature appears clearly on it.

At a 2011 Network Nations blogger conference, an exasperated and scoffing host asked White House Communications Director Dan Pfeiffer, “So it was a fake questionnaire?” The rattled aide responded: “If you actually go back and look, that questionnaire was actually filled out by someone else, not the President. There was a long debate about this in the campaign…. This was litigated in the campaign.” He added, “The president has never favored same-sex marriage. He is against it.”

David Axelrod lied brazenly in both campaigns too, saying Obama “does oppose same-sex marriage,” which had been his position “throughout” his career.

So for almost two decades Obama has been lying through his teeth, flip-flopping this way and that, depending upon the political needs of the moment. Last year’s limited modified hangout position was that he considered gay marriage a matter for the states to decide. His support for it was merely “personal.” Joe Biden’s declaration in favor of “men marrying men” forced Obama into telling this lie earlier than he wanted. He had planned to roll it out at the Charlotte convention, but Joe “got out a little over his skis.”

This was an easy enough lie for him to maintain as the Romney campaign never bothered to challenge him on it. That Obama was going to nationalize gay marriage didn’t come up a single time in the campaign or the debates. The Romney campaign couldn’t even bring itself to defend Chick-fil-A against Rahm Emanuel.

“At a certain point, I’ve just concluded that for me personally it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same-sex couples should be able to get married,” Obama told ABC, which added that the “president stressed that this is a personal position, and that he still supports the concept of states deciding the issue on their own.”

Last week, Obama said that states should not decide the issue on their own. His statement still had a smarmy, hedging tone about it (notice the word “probably”), but that’s what he ends up saying: “And if the state doesn’t have a good reason [to justify Proposition 8], it should be struck down. That’s the core principle, as applied to this case. The court may decide that if it doesn’t apply in this case, it probably can’t apply in any case. There’s no good reason for it. If I were on the court, that’d probably be the view that I’d put forward. But, but I’m not a judge, I’m the president.”

The press, of course, plays along with this weasely charade, asking him fawning questions about his “evolution” instead of asking him: Why have you been lying since 1996? Why couldn’t you win the White House honestly? Don’t you feel like a coward and fraud for having faked up a position which your Justice Department now calls unconstitutional discrimination? Don’t you feel ashamed of having to make up lines in your memoirs about how “I may be seen as someone who was on the wrong side of history”?

The key to frying frogs is to turn up the temperature slowly. That’s the amoral Obama-Alinskyite approach to politics. You just lie, lie, lie, until it is politically safe to state the real liberal position clearly. As Alinsky bragged to his community organizers, “I feel confident that I could persuade a millionaire on a Friday to subsidize a revolution for Saturday out of which he would make a huge profit on Sunday even though he was certain to be executed on Monday.”

Obama must chuckle privately with his aides about how easy it is to con the American people through such methods. The next layer of deception to peel back is Obama’s claim that he respects religious freedom and would never dream of imposing gay marriage on religious denominations. He respects the “sacraments.” Never mind that his wife has said that gay marriage belongs at the “altar.”

When the coast is clear, liberals will pressure religions into embracing gay marriage. Those that refuse will be branded “bigoted” and “discriminatory” and thus unworthy of governmental recognition.

The left doesn’t seem to mind Obama’s frog-frying methods and the dirt that collects on his halo. They take his expedient lies in stride, though one would think the staff at the Windy City Times might demand an apology.

It will never be gay. It will never be healthy. It will never be marriage. USA RIP

TLP| 3.6.13 @ 7:50AM

Wow. I'm dumbstruck. Was that a Story from one of the TAS Bullpen guys, or a Letter from Paul?

After 4 Years as President, 2 Years of Campaigning, 6 Weeks in the U.S. Senate, 3 Books entitled "I'm a Marxist who hates this Country", and a life Story that's right out of Central Casting and every Satanic End of Times Movie that's ever been made, George Neumayr has had an Epiphany?

After NOT taking Matching Funds in 2008, and NOT Televising the Healthcare Debate on CSpan, and NOT putting all New Legislation up on the Web for 72 hours, and NOT Ending Earmarks, and NOT refusing to sign anything that would add "One Thin Dime to the Deficit", George Neumayr has had a Realization?

After Forged Documents, Illegal Drilling Moratoriums, Killing the XL Pipeline, Fast and Furious, Beghazi, and a Month of "The Video did it", George Neumayr has come to the conclusion that President Pathological Liar, is actually a Liar, when it comes to GAY MARRIAGE?

How much do you Weigh, George?

And, are you Lighter when you're wearing your Loafers?

Grzmlyk| 3.6.13 @ 8:35AM

You make a great point.

Now we'll see if the giant, brainless narcissist over at Fox News known as Bill O'Reilly ever gets who and what Obama is.

Kidding. We don't have that long to wait. After all, Bill is obsessed with "fairness."

Which means you must distort reality at all costs.

Again, the GOP has pissed away this country and we deserve what we are about to get.

And, like the title character in Lawrence of Arabia as he's getting raped, the truth is that it puts a smile on good Republicans' faces.

CJW| 3.6.13 @ 10:04AM

Mr G
I agree about O'Reilly. During Obama's first four years, O'Reilly constantly defended him, saying he was not a socialist, not an an ideologue, that to be fair, he was just a lib Dem, blah blah.

He routinely referred to Laura Ingraham, Hannity and others as "right wing" as if that was a criticism. And don't forget that softball interview. all That got him invited to the Obama's White House Christmas party.

It seems though in the past few weeks, O'Reilly sees the wind blowing against Obama and has been critical. Better late than never. I can't watch O'Reilly without flipping around channels. He is a pompous ratings driven populist.

Al Adab| 3.6.13 @ 11:16AM

None of this reflects a change in Obama. It is simply an increase in the transparency of the administration. After all, what does anyone think "fundamentally transform America" meant?

Tom Kyba| 3.6.13 @ 11:23AM

I've never liked men wearing flip flops. Now I know why.

Grzmlyk| 3.6.13 @ 12:23PM

yeah, I watched last night because I'm a glutton for punishment. Yes, he is coming down a little harder on Obama than he used to, but he still doesn't get the truth of what Obama is and what his purpose is (hint: Limbaugh was right when he hoped Obama would fail). O'Reilly thinks Obama's merely putting politics ahead of the country. Would that his motivation were that benign.

I recall only too well O'Reilly's nightly protestations that Obama was really a nice guy who just had a different idea of how to maintain this "shining city on a hill" than conservatives/Republicans did. Yeah, right. How to plunder and destroy it is much closer to the truth.

What an ass O'Reilly is. He's wrong (or, more likely, lying, as he took such great joy in accusing the idiot Alan Colmes lastnight) - as are many ostensibly conservative pundits, like Michael Medved, who simply cannot imagine a malevolent person presiding over this rape of America.

Obama IS out to spread misery. He wants to eliminate the middle class despite what he is saying. As anyone who has studied history knows, it is not the rich who are a hinderance to the imposition of socialism/fascism. It is the middle class, and anyone with eyes can see that is exactly whom Obama is screwing.

But O'Reilly wants to be seen as the great "hand across the aisle," "above the fray" "non-partisan" beatific one. What he is is a common street bully.

He makes me puke, and it infuriates me that he's the top-rated guy on cable.

CJW| 3.6.13 @ 1:51PM

I believe the yelling at poor Alan is all show biz, or else O'Reilly finally realizes he was snookered by Obama, and takes it out on poor Colmes.

SUBVET| 3.6.13 @ 10:29AM

O'Reilly..........is a punk and a bully....he needs to be taken to the wood shed.

That Contest.

Al Adab| 3.6.13 @ 4:11PM

Yes, it was indeed.

Grzmlyk| 3.6.13 @ 12:25PM

Sorry, Subvet - I stole some of your verbage.

Honestly, given O'Reilly's enormous size, I'm sure he's always been able to intimidate people physically. I sorely wish someone had beaten the crap out of him on the playground when he was younger.

We might be spared this a**hole's nightly bloviating and he could be an enforcer for what's left of the Irish mob.

Bob Grant| 3.6.13 @ 8:43AM

Spot on!

Great cataloging of a SAMPLE of obama's lies. Some of those I forgot about.

Yea, I agree. Mr. Numayr's a little late to the party. His timing is off by, oh, say, 6 years.

Obama's a liar. Who'd-a-thunk?

Bob Grant| 3.6.13 @ 8:47AM

LOL!

Neumayr: "Hey guys, it just occurred to me. President obama may not be telling you the truth at all times. Watch out"

HAAAAA, haaaaa.

Albert Constantine Jr.| 3.6.13 @ 9:03AM

Would it be wrong to suggest that by identifying the lies Obama has told regarding gay marriage, that Mr. Neumayr is focusing on low hanging fruit?

Bob Grant| 3.6.13 @ 9:20AM

Low hanging? He's picking up those rotten bananas that have been on the ground for awhile. You know, the ones Purp or Arnie didn't snatch.

TLP| 3.6.13 @ 9:28AM

Since we're already there: How's it hanging?

Bob Grant| 3.6.13 @ 9:33AM

Slightly to the right, just like my drives.

Albert Constantine Jr.| 3.6.13 @ 9:43AM

I've grown so used to nothing but bad news, but the reports involving Hugo Chavez have brightened my day.

Given the messianic aspirations of this (and some other) noted dictator(s), though, I won't be too surprised if the Venezuelans announce tomorrow the rock in front of his tomb has been rolled back, and Hugo has risen.

To the world's socialists and communists, that would be the sign that the state is God, and cause them to lose whatever inhibitions which might remain in how they try to grab and exercise power.

For the rest of us, it would be a sign that the zombie apocalypse is really here.

Grzmlyk| 3.6.13 @ 12:28PM

The only news that could top Chavez's death would be if Sean Penn's private plane - fueled not by pixie dust and puppy dog smiles, but by standard jet fuel - were to crash into the sea on the way to Chavez's funeral.

I would be doing a jig for hours.

Joellen| 3.6.13 @ 10:27AM

So Mr. Neumayar, when will the "OTHER" shoe drop?

Grzmlyk| 3.6.13 @ 8:29AM

Wait - are you saying Obama lied?

That is HATE speech! That is racist! That is a stupid bitter clinger doing a right-wing, extremist rant.

Everybody knows God doesn't lie. Helloo!

And His minions, like Axelrod, can't lie, either, because liberals are incapable of lying.

The reason? The truth is whatever they want it to be at that moment.

Don't you watch the NBC news? Don't you read the New York Times? Don't you listen to NPR? Don't you read the Huffington Post and Media Matters?

At the very least, you should watch MSNBC. In case you don't know, reality is what Rachel Maddow tells us it is.

As for "USA RIP," I don't feel that way. I don't believe that a civilization's willful, sadistic destruction of its own institutions and the total inversion of its values, deserves to rest in peace after it collapses under the weight of its own corruption, vanity, foolishness and ignorance.

You ain't gonna put the national sociopathy genie back in the bottle.

TLP| 3.6.13 @ 9:46AM

And, don't watch Fox.

I don't watch any T.V. News, and I'm one of the most News Knowledgable persons on any site I go to, and definitely the most Modest.

I listen to Glenn. (Until he goes Biblical) I listen to Rush, as I have been since the first day he went on the Air at WABC, in New York. I pretty much just listen to Sean's Monologues. The rest of his Radio Show is a Clusterflucked Fair and Balanced Train Wreck. I'd rather have holes drilled through my front teeth - ala Dustin Hoffman in The Marathon Man - than listen to 10 Seconds of Juan Williams/Lamont Hill/Lanny Davis, or that Black Broad who Sean buys things to give to her adopted kids. (She's a wonderful woman. She's just Bad Radio.)

And, of course, I listen to Mark Levin.

I go to Drudge, first thing every morning, make my coffee, and take my customary 6 am Dump, before coming here and making you all wish you were me.

Did I mention how Modest I am?

SUBVET| 3.6.13 @ 10:33AM

Tim........Greta seems to be on the mark...I can tell their must be that white stuff on the ground still.

TLP| 3.6.13 @ 11:24AM

Still there. Not that much. I was out front swinging a Golf Club, yesterday.

Now, It all depends on what this new storm does, the next coupla days.

I just keep drinking.

Bob Grant| 3.6.13 @ 12:24PM

Hannity's extremely annoying (especially when he goes on and on and on and on and on and on about how many "regular" jobs he had before he made it big. God bless him but talk about beating dead horse!!! Newsflash, this is not an unusual occurrence!) but I give him credit for (a) having his heart in the right place (b) his ability to debate the issues with his encyclopedic knowledge and (c) his ability to completely control (and destroy) certain guests who call his show...

But, please Sean, get rid of your regulars. The Gag O' Meter goes off the charts when they call in.

Grzmlyk| 3.6.13 @ 12:38PM

I can't handle Sean Vanity. I don't know why Ann Coulter loves him so much (then again, I can't undersand why she loves Chris Christy, but I think it has to do with selling books).

I just can't take Hannity. Not for three minutes. He's an unthinking block of stone with hair.

His self-regard casts a shadow over the entire solar system.

It's not that I disagree with him - he does rugurgitate opinions with which I agree - it's just that he's a vain moron who appropriates opinions from people who actually know what they are talking about, and then drowns them in tired platitudes, hackneyed cliches and shopworn dogma.

You just know he never really grew up, and that he's never more than three steps away from a mirror.

Ugh. Can't stand him.

TLP| 3.6.13 @ 2:49PM

Sean Vanity.

Nice.

PatrickO| 3.6.13 @ 9:18AM

What's with the "ad hominem" attack on George Neumayr from some readers?

Nothing in this essay suggests that that its author only now realizes that the president is a liar. Neumayr is only pointing out that President Obama lied about his position on "gay marriage" also, meaning in addition to all his other lies. Snark about who is "late to the party" makes no sense when applied to regular TAS contributors like Mr. Neumayr. You might reasonably contend that any story about this president lying is by now commonplace, but it's stupid and wrong to claim that reliably conservative writers don't know at least as much as you do about presidential pathologies.

Bob Grant| 3.6.13 @ 9:24AM

I have an issue when conservative writers don't put Obama's Lies in context, which he failed to do in this article.

Bob Grant| 3.6.13 @ 9:31AM

"Random Mutations" makes it appear he lies on occasion, randomly.

Mutations? uh, lying?

Today, THREE articles at AmSpec about Obama's Lies and only ONE writer put it in proper context, Mr. Ferrara. He calls a spade a shovel and has the balls to put "lie" in the title.

TLP| 3.6.13 @ 9:59AM

Exactly.

Call the SOB what he is: He's a Pathological Lying Sack a Sheets, who won't rest till the whole Country is eating out of Dumpsters in Long Island.

"Random Mutations"?

GO PUT A DRESS ON!

If we want Weasel Words, we'll read Arnie, vtwin, and Purp the Fairy Princess.

Albert Constantine Jr.| 3.6.13 @ 9:36AM

I'm sorry, PatrickO, but from my standpoint, we were engaging in that ritual of those who consider themselves non-deluded, as described by Tom Wolfe regarding the homicide cops in "Bonfire of the Vanities". To that end (and in light of the holiday many in the Celtic and aspiring Celtic world will be celebrating later this month, and for which you appear to be named), Wolfe attributed it as an Irish characteristic (even in those whose ancestors had no Gaelic heritage), though in my mind it also shares characteristics with the locker room of high school athletes.

With this latter thing in mind, given the topic about which Mr. Neumayr is writing, it would seem appropriate to interject "don't you mean 'ad homonem attacks?'". (Feel free to make yor own replies with homoside, Gaylick or any other opportunities I might have left you).

Albert Constantine Jr.| 3.6.13 @ 9:45AM

yor your own replies...

TLP| 3.6.13 @ 10:00AM

I'm surprised that you don't realize who PatrickO really is.

Albert Constantine Jr.| 3.6.13 @ 10:15AM

What is important is that we (meaning I) enjoy the opportunity to grow through the exchange of ideas and witty banter (meaning have fun at the expense of those with whom I might disagree).

Grzmlyk| 3.6.13 @ 2:26PM

I'm not a regular enough reader of Neumayr's stuff to comment on whether he is a go-along-to-get-along RINO, which appears to be he consensus. Offhand, it seems to me he's been consistently conservative in his perspectives. Perhaps he fights by "Marquis of Queensbury" rules during an all-out, no-holds-barred brawl, which would make him a typical Republican.

I do abhor the "conservative" reflex to avoid calling a spade a spade. A lie is a lie.

I grit my teeth when pundits - not to mention craven GOP politicians - come very close to calling Obama a liar - basically DO call him a liar, and then they're asked - by other conservatives, no less, in a friendly environment - if they're saying he "lied."

They retreat faster than the speed of light. "I would not characterize it as a lie, no, of course not. I would just say that it is inaccurate for him to assert . . . . "

Grzmlyk| 3.6.13 @ 2:27PM

(cont'd)

Come on, people: Obama is a LIAR. He LIES all the TIME. Like all liberals, he feels no compunction about LYING. He LIES as a matter of course.

When you're a liberal, it's ok to lie in the service of your own, larger "truth" (see Dan Rather and the Bush National Guard forgery, or the Washington Post and the Duke LaCrosse fiasco - in both instances, the media said, sure, the facts were wrong, but the "narrative" was right).

Ergo, liberals have their own truth, and if they have to lie in service of it, their pathologcial little selves do not bat an eyelash.

Obama is such an amoral, pathological liar that he can't even say "hello" truthfully.

TLP| 3.6.13 @ 3:04PM

By any means neccessary.

With President Named After Mohammed's Horse, it's something he learned, growing up in the Muslim Schools and Mosques of Indonesia.

The Koran COMPELS lying to the Infidel, if it Advances the Cause of Islam.

And, we're talking about a guy who just gave The Muslim Brotherhood FREE F-16s and 300 Abrhams Tanks, as well as $1.5 BILLION in Cash.

You might wanna brush up on your John of Patmos.

TLP| 3.6.13 @ 3:10PM

PolishKnight| 3.6.13 @ 9:27AM

I chuckled at this article because it's clear after the 2nd election that Obama didn't need to lie about gay marriage to win. Like Clinton, Obama can't help lying (it's easy to do so and not get caught by the media and it's fun to boot and it doesn't hurt) but he didn't need to.

Obama won due to two factors that the most Republicans refuse to seriously address:

1) Race and gender preferences.
2) Outsourcing and H1B's supported by the Republicans pounding away at the middle class.

It's a formula that's worked great for the past 50 years helping the left to take over the USA as effectively as the Nazis did over France. And we don't have anyone landing on our shores that will bail us out!

All the fretting about gay marriage is pointless. If rubes voted for Obama because he promised to oppose gay marriage despite the party's stance on the matter, get over it. Learn what the rube cares about and connect with him and win votes. Care about politics or expect that Constitution to someday become a fancy piece of paper sitting in a climate controlled box that doesn't mean anything other than to bless leftist policy.

Kwan| 3.6.13 @ 9:45AM

The Marxist strategists that are choreographing this revolution that was launched on January 21, 2009, are attacking the pillars of our society, marriage being one of those pillars. Marriage has always been about the merging of Yin(female) and Yang(male) as nature intended for the perpetuation of humankind. The left is big on mangling the language for political purposes, so now they're trying to force the citizens to accept changing the definition of marriage to include the unnatural union of Yang (Brucie) and Yang (Clyde). This is the equivalent of taking the prancing horse logo off a Ferrari gluing it onto your Yugo and claiming that you drive a Ferrari.

For those who knock up dey Hoes and Pimp out dey Bittches, Hang Out all Day and Get Wasted all Night? They will be called the People of the False Prophet. And they shall inherit what's left of the Earth, once he's done turning it to Shittt.

So now we are reading articles about how O is lying to us. Big deal. As Dame Hillary so famously said, "What difference does it make, now?". Where were all of these press types for the last four years? Where were they after Benghazi? He can lie all he wants for the next 4 years, and still walk away an incredibly wealthy man. Just look at the Clintons.

So we in the conservative tub are debating the honesty of the liberal political class, while they walk away with the public treasury. I'm sure they feel really bad about us callng them names. We have allowed our culture to be trashed. We have allowed our wealth to be plundered. And the best we can do is tell them, wait until next time. Knowing full well that, given the accumulated intelligence and educational achievement of the up and coming generation, that nothing is going to change. Our churches still allow the same polititions who mock their doctrines, and pass laws forcing them to deny their own faith, to step up to the communion rail because they are afraid to stand up to them, and risk their economic privileges. But don't get me started.

I agree with you, Cicero. Culturally speaking, compared with what next week will look like, this week will seem like the right-wing dark ages, when trans-gendered people still had to fight for "social justice" and there were still a few people who clung to the quaint idea that work is noble and that free markets still have some relevance in the exchange of goods and services.

A week after that, who knows? Perhaps we will legalize enslaving white people (you know, to make it "fair"), or everyone will be requird to have a sex change operation, or we'll require our presidents to be low-IQ sex offenders from Mexico.

Anything is possible as the last obstacles to utter collapse are removed by Progressives. We are moving leftward with increasing speed. Just as JFK Jr. foolishly maneuvered his plane into an ever tighter, ever more frantically out-of-control death spiral, so leftism no longer nudges America leftward, no longer strides leftward, no longer lunges leftward. We have accelerated into a full-on sprint toward nihilism. We are engaged in a gleeful, gluttonous, self-gratifying, frantic dance of death.

And just as JFK got to the point where his death spiral was so tight it was only a matter of physics as to what would happen next, so we have arrived at a very similar point culturally.

It's all going to go "splat" very soon.

At least then the lefties will be squashed also.

On the upside of all of that?

Unlike the Left?

We'll be Prepared for the Apocalypse.

...I was waiting for the thought he'd wash up on shore joke...

Yup - at least those of us who can see reality will not be taken by surprise.

Imagine Purp's shock when his mother is denied that hip surgery and she is "given a pill" and encouraged strongly to hurry up and die.

Of course he'll think that's "fair" - until he realizes that means he'll have to get his ass off the couch and walk to the mailbox himself . . . only to find that his welfare check won't be there.

And he'll be further dismayed when he goes to the strip club and his EBT card will be without funds.

The poor guy will have to go out and steal his food himself, and find his own girls to rape.

Seems to me that most homosexuals understand that Obama used them for political reasons, and they used him right back.
