You have to love it.
Joy Behar now works for an employer whose Al Jazeera network, in
the words of Current TV co-founders Al Gore and Joel Hyatt, “was
founded with the same goals we had for Current.”
The co-star of Barbara Walters’ famous morning chat show The
View, along with her Current colleague Jennifer Granholm,
the former liberal Governor of Michigan, are now two of the main
pillars of the Al-Jazeera line up.
Media Matters? Headed by the famously “Hey, I’m gay” David
Brock? They have been linked with Al-Jazeera, the television home
of a popular Islamic cleric who believes gays should be
executed.
And that quick-to-take-media-offense leftist group Color of
Change? Are they taking offense at the sale of Current TV to
Al Jazeera? Is the New York Times? Right.
Did I mention that this is the same Al Jazeera that threw a
televised birthday for Samir Kuntar? A terrorist who took a rifle
butt to smash the skull of a 4-year-old Israeli girl when he
attempted to kidnap her family?
Well. Where to begin?
Let’s begin with one of Ms. Behar’s and Ms. Granholm’s new Al
Jazeera colleagues.
That would be one Yusuf al-Qaradawi, the Islamic theologian who
hosts Sharia and Life, a show that is said to have an
audience of 60 million around the globe. Joy’s new colleague is
also the host of a website called IslamOnline, for which
he serves as the chief religious scholar.
So what does al-Qaradawi discuss on his show? What is it exactly
that makes him such a hit with his large audience?
Al-Qaradawi hates Barbara Walters. Well, not really Barbara
personally. No, he’s not that specific. It’s just that he
hates Jews. And America’s most famous television
journalist is Jewish. It’s nothing personal. So when he
preached a sermon back there on January 28, 2009, on Jews
saying he wanted to “kill them, down to the very last one” he
was obviously including Barbara Walters.
Joy’s new buddy is also grateful for the Holocaust. As reported
here by the Daily Caller:
As translated by the Middle East Media Research Institute,
Al-Qaradawi said that “throughout history, Allah has imposed upon
the [Jews] people who would punish them for their corruption. The
last punishment was carried out by Hitler.”
“By means of all the things he did to them –- even though they
exaggerated this issue –- he managed to put them in their place,”
Al-Qaradawi continued. “This was divine punishment for them. Allah
willing, the next time will be at the hand of the believers.”
Then there’s al-Qaradawi’s views on women. He’s all in favor of
wife-beating if it’s deserved – although he believes it should be
done “lightly.” (A belief he shares, by the way, with
President Obama’s “Granny Sarah,” as we noted
here in a story discussing Sarah Obama’s Sharia fundraising
activities.) And but of course, he’s a big fan of female genital
mutilation.
Gays? He believes gays should be executed. As in put to death.
Al-Qaradawi is given to issuing fatwas (legal Islamic
rulings, of which he’s issued some 150), one of which concerns
homosexuals. Says Joy Behar and Jennifer Granholm’s new water
cooler buddy:
“We must be aware that in regulating the sexual drive Islam has
prohibited not only illicit sexual relations and all what leads to
them, but also the sexual deviation known as homosexuality. This
perverted act is a reversal of the natural order, a corruption of
man’s sexuality, and a crime against the rights of females. (The
same applies equally to the case of lesbianism.)”
Why death for gays? Well, one must “maintain the purity of the
Islamic society and to keep it clean of perverted elements.”
All of this…the belief that Hitler was just ducky on the
Holocaust, that he personally would love to kill Jews, that women
should be forcibly circumcised and gays executed… is before we even
get to his celebration of suicide bombers.
Ya gotta believe this guy will have a swell time chatting up his
new office mates Joy and Jen.
Then again, don’t think he won’t.
A while back Andy McCarthy wrote a book called
The Grand Jihad: How Islam and the Left Sabotage America.
In which McCarthy took note of the strange similarity between
American leftists and Islamic fundamentalists.
McCarthy was on to something.
The ex-mayor of London is one Ken Livingstone, or, as he was
familiarly known in his heyday, “Red Ken.” Just Joy and Jen’s kind
of guy. The mayor went out of his way to invite Yusuf al-Qaradawi
to London back in 2004 and gave the big Islamic lug a hug, although
he acknowledged that it might be awhile before Yusuf was invited to
a gay pride parade.
Red Ken might be just the guy to get Joy and Jen and Yusuf
together for a bite and, who knows, maybe explore ideas for some
new TV shows with these media savvy American liberal women.
The idea of giving Al Jazeera and its Sharia and Life
star a toe-hold in American cable land right alongside the Weather
Channel and Hallmark falls right in line with a strategy discussed
as follows in Andrew Bostom’s classic
Sharia Versus Freedom: The Legacy of Islamic
Totalitarianism.
Bostom writes:
An internal Muslim Brotherhood statement dates May 22, 1991,
whose contents were revealed during the Texas Holy Land Foundation
jihad, terrorism funding trial. Written by an acolyte of the
Brotherhood’s major theoretician, lionized Qatari cleric, popular
Al Jazeera television personality, and head of the European Fatwa
Council Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi, the document titled “An
Explanatory Memorandum on the General Strategic Goal for the Group
in North America,” is indeed self-explanatory:
“The Ikhwan (Muslim Brotherhood) must understand that their work
in America is a kind of grand jihad in eliminating and destroying
the Western civilization from within and ‘sabotaging’ its miserable
house by their hands and by the hands of the believers so that it
is eliminated and God’s religion is made victorious over all other
religions.”
Catch that? “… their work in America is a kind of
grand jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization
from within…”
What better way to do that then with Al Gore and Joel Hyatt’s
old network helping Yusuf to bask in the glow of stars like Joy and
Jen? Maybe Yusuf could settle in on the couch at The View
and explain to Barbara Walters just why it is he would love to kill
all Jews?
Not last and not least in all this is Al Gore’s role in
this.
Not since Aaron Burr have Americans had a former vice president
of the United States who has gone out of his way to earn such a
bizarre if not disreputable reputation. Burr, recall, was brought
up on treason charges as an ex-vice president for allegedly trying
to steal the lands of the Louisiana Purchase. Escaping conviction,
he tried to raise an army and invade Mexico to make himself
Mexico’s monarch. All of this after killing Alexander
Hamilton in a duel.
Outside of the staff of Current TV, no one cares that Gore’s
incredible hypocrisy was on vivid display when he tried to get a
tax break by selling Current before the tax advantages vanished for
Mr. Fair Share. Likewise, selling to one of the biggest oil
suppliers in the world of Big Oil, while again an amusing
hypocrisy, is nothing more than an exercise in capitalism.
But handing over an American television network to a TV group
whose big star is out there demanding that women be mutilated, gays
executed, suicide bombers praised, and that Hitler was one great
guy for the Holocaust?
Really?
One would think that this was too much for even Joy Behar and
Jennifer Granholm – the latter, one must note again, who was not
that long ago the Governor of Michigan. An American state that
presumably counts among its population American Jews, women, and
gays. None of whom, one suspects, would take kindly to a governor
who thinks it’s just dandy to count among her new colleagues a guy
who believes in killing Jews and gays when not mutilating women in
the name of Allah.
It isn’t apparently.
Nor is it too much for The New York Times, which
promptly
criticized the decision by Time Warner not to carry Al
Jazeera.
One can only marvel at the silence of all those liberal groups
that have spent their time trying to push whomever off the air for
sins against liberalism real or imagined. But when a network comes
along that actively sponsors a guy who is seriously out there
calling for the execution of Jew/gays and mutilating
women?
The cat, as they say, has got their tongue.
Take the group Color of Change. Found here is a list of the
group’s campaigns against America’s real enemies in the media. They
include Glenn Beck, Fox’s Eric Bolling, and Lou Dobbs, Pat
Buchanan, Bill Bennett, Donald Trump and… well, you get the
game.
But do they care about Al Jazeera? Nah. No problem.
Well, surely Media Matters would be on top of this, right? You
know, the folks who are perpetually trying to force some
conservative somewhere off the air?
Um, no. This one is particularly rich.
As the Daily Caller revealed
here last March, Media Matters itself has been linked to Al
Jazeera.

Media Matters for America is linked with Al-Jazeera, the
anti-American and anti-Israeli cable news channel, The Daily Caller
has learned.
Media Matters Action Network senior foreign policy fellow MJ
Rosenberg’s column for the liberal organization regularly appears
on Al-Jazeera’s website and, in 2010, Rosenberg represented Media
Matters at a forum hosted by Al-Jazeera in Doha, Qatar where he
praised the news outlet as “mainstream.”
Media Matters Action Network is part of the organization’s
political arm.
See anything just a tad ironic here?
Media Matters is headed by David Brock, who makes much of the
fact that he’s gay. Media Matters, as mentioned above, has
defined Al Jazeera as “mainstream” – and linked up with it, as the
DC has noted.
Bill O’Reilly last night unearthed another Al Jazeera jewel.
The one that noted Al Jazeera had thrown a televised birthday
party for one Samir Kuntar. Why? Kuntar had tried to kidnap an
Israeli family – and in the doing smashed the skull of a 4-year old
Israeli girl. If you have the stomach you can see a clip of that
televised celebration right here.
So.
To wrap it all up.
What we have here are people at the heart of media liberalism
linking up with a network whose star is out there with an audience
of 60 million ranting and raving in favor of everything from the
Holocaust to murdering or mutilating all the disfavored on the
Islamic fundamentalist list. Jews, gays, and women at the top of
the list. A network that literally celebrated a terrorist who
smashed the skull of a four-year-old girl.
Behar and Granholm are now going to be their employees. And
Brock has been happily linking up with them. The New York
Times sees the addition of Al Jazeera to the Time Warner
playlist as diversity. While the Color of Change is silent as the
proverbial church mouse.
The word for people like this?
One is tempted to say hypocrite.
But the word that really comes to mind is sick.
