The Obama Watch

Planting the Seeds of His Own Demise

The conservative comeback begins now — on the assumption that a majority of Americans will not welcome a second Great Depression.

Stop that cringing! I can already see the light at the end of the tunnel. And it’s not pretty for today’s neo-Marxist Democrat party.

The man you see before you as your President today bears a striking resemblance to the main character in a Greek tragedy. He so reeks of hubris. Every word that drops from his lips speaks a haughty derision of the lesser beings not benighted to be a cog in his political machine. All witness Obama the Magnificent, the conqueror of America, which was the world hyperpower, but is now the Sick Man of the 21st Century, en route to terminal illness.

Middle class beware. Did you not hear four years ago Obama the Magnificent bewail that America with 4 percent of the world’s population consumes 25 percent of the world’s resources? So unfair, you know, the magic incantation of the Obama Regime. He told us that “we just can’t keep driving our SUVs, eating whatever we want, keeping our homes at 72 degrees at all times regardless of whether we live in the tundra or the desert, and keep consuming 25% of the world’s resources with just 4% of the world’s population, and expect the rest of the world to say you just go ahead we’ll be fine.”

The sloppiness in El Primo’s thinking there is revealed by the phrase “the world’s resources.” But America in reality never consumed any of the world’s production. It always only consumed 100% of America’s production (including what it traded some of that production for).

That is why previous American Presidents would have said, you got a problem with the American standard of living, you just address your complaint to the Seventh Fleet. But under Obama, America does not even have a Seventh Fleet anymore. We barely even have a First Fleet, and that is doomed to the sequester budget guillotine, on the same road as America’s formerly dominant nuclear deterrent.

So much for America’s former morally embarrassing global military dominance. And Obama has the same solution for America’s former morally embarrassing overconsumption. Reduce America with 4 percent of the world’s population to consuming just 4 percent of the world’s resources, a decline of 84 percent from its former standard of living. That would be fair, in Obama’s eyes. Richard Trumka, call your office.

The Obama Timeline to the Dustbin of History
Conservatives who want to fight back should start with Obama’s Second Inaugural Address and his 2013 State of the Union. These will be grand pronouncements of neo-Marxist principle and strategy. Books should be written unwinding them. They will be monuments to the Obama tactic of Calculated Deception, i.e., taking advantage of what he is sure a majority of Americans do not know, and what he calculates the Democrat party-controlled media won’t tell them.

But in his hubris, and self-deception, Obama will plant the seeds of his own demise in the words of those addresses. Every paean to the middle class should and will be written in stone and compared to subsequent performance. Every promise to the poor and working people will be stored for future reference as the impact of Obamanomics on the poor and working people unfolds.

At about the same time, the first shoe will drop — the 2014 Obama Budget proposal. This will outline what America’s socialist future will look like under the Grand Vision of the Great Marxist, as the numbers crunchers effectively force Obama to confess that he wants higher taxes to pay for higher spending, which is what the budget will show. Check out in particular CBO’s long-term projections of federal spending, and the national debt. They will show Obama is proposing the so-called Swedish socialism of the government taking and spending more than half of the entire GDP. (Even the Swedes have grown past Swedish socialism.)

Since the end of World War II, two-thirds of a century ago, federal spending has been remarkably stable at around 20 percent of GDP. But in his budget, Obama will propose doubling and even tripling that over the long run, as CBO’s long-term projections will show. His budget will also propose national debt spiraling well beyond even what has trashed and ruined Greece, as CBO’s projections will also show. In other words, Obama’s hubris will lead to worse than a Greek tragedy.

These will be simple indicators of the socialism that has taken over the modern Democrat party. But if you want a simple indicator of why Obama is indeed a Marxist, you can find that in what he repeatedly says about his own tax policies. In a world where, according to official IRS data, the top 1 percent of income earners pay 39 percent of all federal income taxes, three times their 13 percent share of income, and where the middle class, the middle 20 percent of income earners, pays less than 3 percent of all federal income taxes, while earning 15 percent of income, Obama wants to raise all income tax rates on “the rich,” so that they will pay what he sees as their fair share.

To a normal person, the fair share of federal income taxes for a top 1 percent earning 13 percent of income is 13 percent of the taxes. For a Marxist, the top 1 percent earning 13 percent of the income while paying only 39 percent of the income taxes is unfair because it is only fair for the top 1 percent to pay most of the income taxes by themselves.

A normal person would see that policy as social theft. But a born and bred Marxist would see that as social justice, because it is unfair for the top 1 percent of income earners to even exist. Their income and wealth is not earned in the Marxist view, but stolen from The People. So it is only fair that the people steal it back.

Don’t believe it? Then ask the Obama Administration for their explanation as to why their tax policy is fair. If they say they want everyone to pay the same tax rate, then why are they not for the flat tax? And if that is their standard of fairness, why are they not proposing tax rate cuts for “the rich”? According to the CBO, based on official IRS data, the top 1 percent pay an average federal tax rate of 29 percent, taking into account all federal taxes. The middle 20 percent of income earners, the middle class, pays an average federal tax rate of 11.1 percent. The bottom 20 percent of income earners pays an average federal tax rate of 1 percent.

Warren Buffett, call your office, which is the headquarters of the largest tax shelter in the world. The more Obama raises tax rates on the rich, the more will flee to Buffett’s tax shelter, which protects investors from precisely the capital gains taxes, and taxes on dividends, that Obama is raising the most. Buffett is laughing all the way to the bank, but if you are middle class, or poor, the joke is on you, as we will see.

The House Republicans have failed to support the Ryan budget for 3 years now...Every year they have voted Continuing Resolutions to keep the blaoted Nancy Pelosi budget of 2009....Boehner does not have to courage to stand by the Ryan budget, and if the Senate wants to shut down the government, let them do it...Hold firm and take heart, trust in the Lord.

vtwin| 12.5.12 @ 10:38AM

…and Boehner and the House Republicons and holding hostage the Senate passed tax cut extension that that would benefit 98% of the American people.

Doctor Right| 12.5.12 @ 11:29AM

Hey, dim-wit...

There's no such thing as a "tax-cut extension."

It's either a new "cut," or it's an extension of existing rates prior to a tax HIKE.

FYI, genius...Obama supports a tax HIKE.

You don't really understand much, do you?

vtwin| 12.5.12 @ 12:28PM

"Tax HIKE?" The tax cuts of 2001 and 2003 were only temporary, extended for two years, and will expire at the end of this year. Obama is asking Congress to permanently extend the temporary tax cuts on ALL income below $250,000 for ALL Americans. That's right Obama is trying to cut taxes for ALL Americans.

Doctor Right| 12.5.12 @ 12:51PM

They're STILL in place, genius.

They are the de-facto standard tax rates. Have been for almost a decade.

Asking for tax rates to stay the same is NOT a tax cut.

Seriously...how stupid are you?

Obama is RAISING taxes. Period.

Man, I can't WAIT until you see how ObamaCare is going to screw you!

LOL!!!!

Anthony| 12.5.12 @ 1:03PM

Oh Doctor Right, It ain't just Obozocare that's gonna screw vtwin in his little derriere, wait till those Oakland gang bangers show up at vtwin's doorstep.
No police....no guns... no ammo.... no peace for vtwin!!
Ohhh vtwin, it's gonna hurt!!!!

TLP| 12.5.12 @ 4:45PM

Once again, I find it Troubling that so many people who put out Columns, on this site, DON'T GET IT.

You state, correctly, in your second paragraph, that he is Dripping with the Hubris of a Committed Narccissist. Then you spend the rest of the Column, predicting that he will Rue the Day........

You THINK you know what you're dealing with, but in the end, you can't bring yourself to ADMIT what he is.

He's Hitler. He's Lenin. He's Stalin. He's Mao, and he's Mussolini.

He's Attila. He's Ghegis Khan. He's Nero. He's Caligula. And he's Castro.

He's Mugabe. He's Idi Amin. And he's Chavez.

I can't tell you how many times, during a Speech, that I looked at him, pausing to look out over the assemblage, and saw Musolini.

He's a True Believer in his Cause. There's no negotiating with such as he. No Deal Making. No Compromises.

He will do as he wishes, until he is Taken outside, and hung upside down, with a Bullet in his Head, beside his Mistress. (Whoever he is) That's who he is.

History is replete with Men like him.

Great Oratorical ability. Unshakeable Belief that he is THE CHOSEN ONE. Unwilling to take One Step Backwards.

And, what does History tell us about such men.

Misery. Death Camps. Gulags. A Bullet to the back of the head.

And then, everybody dies.

Santayana had it right.

Either we Learn from History, or we will be DOOMED to Repeat it.

Period.

Jacobite| 12.6.12 @ 6:33PM

Well, you are on the right track, but wrong. O'bwana is only the figurehead for the Left. To get things right, they're all gonna have to do the Ceaucescu cha-cha, because otherwise they'll just conjure up another phony candidate. And the idea that O'bwana was a stealth condidate is hilarious. Ever heard of Coalman Young? Marian Berry? David Dinkins? Robert Mugabe? Emperor Bokassa I? Idi Amin Dada? Far from a surprise, O'bwana is just exactly what anyone knowledgeable of black 'leaders' would have expected. As will be the next black leader here, or anywhere else. Or do you leave a pit-bull to baby-sit your 6 month old?

Yossarian| 12.8.12 @ 1:19PM

TLP, if you are looking for Obbie's mistress, the rumor on Chicago's south side that it was Rahm Emanuel or Tony Resko that introduced the young state sentor to the pleasures of Chicago bath houses.

cito| 12.10.12 @ 2:31PM

Quite a reply. You need to let go, your team was soundly beaten, 51% to 47%. Name calling and ludicrous and absurd comparisions are not going to change the facts. By the way if you are going to quote George Santayana, at least get it right. The word he used was DEEMED not DOOMED. Look it up.

Truth Teller| 12.7.12 @ 10:41PM

And you want to know the funniest part about the "cuts" which aren't new cuts, but a continuation of cuts made a decade ago, is that they are BUSH'S cuts. That's right. Choke on THAT fact! BUSH W BUSH W BUSH W BUSH W (hopefully this will incapacitate you!) Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Oh yeah.....................BUSH!!!! You support what BUSH did! Hahahahahahahha

Occam's Tool| 12.10.12 @ 6:03PM

I'm looking at some Australian 1 kilo silver koalas. $1345 for a perfect uncirculated MS70. 15% over spot for a scored perfect. I expect Gold to hit $3000 over the next four years (about 12% a year, which given the Obama spending and the European crash, should be about right) and silver to hit at least $50-60. Of course, I also invest in Phillip Morris, Int. to give Jordanians and Indonesians lung CA....

I used to be a nice person before I had kids. Now I intend for them to survive and thrive.

Oldefarte| 12.5.12 @ 11:48AM

Good....I want to see the look on those STUPIDS' faces when then get the KING's tax bill for $2500 in April....after all a little WEALTH REDISTRIBUTION never hurt anyone, right?????

vtwin| 12.5.12 @ 12:47PM

I like both of these choices; my country is $16 trillion in debt so taxes need to go up and spending needs to come down or I get to watch congressional Republicans kiss my President’s black ass.

Doctor Right| 12.5.12 @ 12:54PM

You're not concerned about the debt; if so, then your vote for Obama is nonsensical.

Obama spent more than all past Presidents combined; he has borrowed more than all past Presidents combined.

And his solution?

More spending, more borrowing.

FYI, raising taxes LOWERS government revenues.

Again...how stupid are you??

Occam's Tool| 12.5.12 @ 12:55PM

No, tax REVENUES need to go up. Tax rates should go up or down depending upon how it affects tax revenues. And here's the fun part, vtwin my friend: lower rates will actually INCREASE revenues, as it did under Reagan versus Carter.

Or, one can approach this ideologically, as Obama is doing, and watch the second depression.

Grzmlyk| 12.5.12 @ 12:57PM

But we do NOT have a revenue problem in this country, dammit! We have a spending problem!

Damn Art Laffer!

vtwin| 12.5.12 @ 1:33PM

“Lower rates will actually INCREASE revenues,”some of the people all the time.

Drunken Sailor| 12.5.12 @ 2:35PM

Really, I mean it worked for JFK, or did you forget that too?

Doctor Right| 12.5.12 @ 2:36PM

Like I've said...you're stupid.

You know NOTHING about economics.

You're a complete ignoramus. The perfect Obama voter.

DRed| 12.5.12 @ 3:50PM

Well, yeah, it worked for JFK. He was also cutting the top marginal rate from 91%. Tax cuts can certainly increase revenue-when tax rates are very high. They're not high now. It's not the same thing.

Drunken Sailor| 12.5.12 @ 4:00PM

Ok, then look at the Presidents own economic council numbers as noted in Mr. Sowells editorial today. Check out page 411 and see where Bush's tax cuts actually raised revenue.

Here I'll save you the hard work of finding it.
http://www.whitehouse.gov/admi.....-President

And while your at it please explain why the left want to take the tax rate on the top 2% back to the Clinton era but they don't want to go back to his spending levels.

DRed| 12.5.12 @ 4:10PM

that table shows federal receipts declining for three straight years after the Bush tax cuts. Did you even read it?

Drunken Sailor| 12.5.12 @ 4:36PM

Yes, and did you notice how they climbed after that and kept climbing? Now go back and compare them to the Clinton years. Who had the largest revenues coming in? Go read Sowells column. Not that you will agree with anything he says.

Still Explain why Obama wants to go back to Clinton ere tax rates but not Clinton era spending. I'll wait.

DRed| 12.5.12 @ 4:51PM

Kept climbing? No, I didn't notice that they kept climbing. Why? Because they didn't. They went up for 3 years, and then declined. And if you adjust those numbers to account for population growth and inflation, well, W and his magic tax cuts look even worse.

Why doesn't Obama want to go back to Clinton era spending? Because it's not 1992. That's the short answer.

Drunken Sailor| 12.5.12 @ 5:00PM

Really. Funny I see under the Reciepts the following numbers
2000 2025.2
2001 1991.1
2002 1853.1
2003 1782.3
2004 1880.1
2005 2153.6
2006 2406.9
2007 2568.0
2008 2524.0

Of course it dropped after the housing bubble burst. And it picked right back up after that mess got untangled.
So please explain to me how if it didn't work, why does Obama want to keep most of them? Except for the 2% he wants to raise taxes on (a story different from 1 1/2 years ago). Even if we raise those rates, he wants to spend even more so how does that bring us back in balance?

DRed| 12.5.12 @ 5:12PM

First, you have to realize there were 13 million odd more tax payers in 2008 than there were in 2000. This is why federal revue almost always increases (except during recession). More tax payers = more revenue, and revenue tends to go up whether taxes are raised or lowered. If you look at the numbers on a per capita basis, revenues during the Bush years were never higher than they were in 2000. If tax cuts lead to revenue increase, why did this happen? The simple fact is that the Bush tax cuts did not increase revenue. That's it.

GobBluthe| 12.6.12 @ 12:14PM

But 13 million new tax payers is less than 10%, while tax revenues grew 25%

Drunken Sailor| 12.5.12 @ 4:53PM

Also I can't figure out why a year and a half ago, Obama himself that closing loopholes would close the gap without raising tax rates but now has changed his mind.

On July 22, 2011 President Obama offered raising the debt ceiling last summer by closing loopholes and not raising taxes.

OBAMA: What we said was give us $1.2 trillion in additional revenues, which could be accomplished without hiking tax rates. It could simply be accomplished by eliminating loopholes, eliminating some deductions and engaging in a tax reform process that could lower rates generally while broadening the base.

And the left wants us to believe he doesn't flip-flop? Sorry, your king is playing politics and class envy pure and simple. And every time he does, liberals tie on their bibs and lap it up.

Anthony| 12.5.12 @ 1:06PM

Admit it vtwin, you're a bit jealous that it's the Rs that get to kiss Obozo's ass and not you.

vtwin| 12.5.12 @ 1:35PM

Don’t get too excited it was just a metaphor.

Anthony| 12.5.12 @ 2:06PM

Vtwin -- here are two things you can count on:

1. Tax REVENUES from the increase in Rates on "The Rich" -- who are actually not the Wealthy, but High Earners ... the Wealthy like Buffet enjoy "pulling up the ladder" so others can't join them -- anyway TAX REVENUES WILL NOT MATERIALIZE from the Obama Tax Hike (or for that matter, the Jerry Brown Tax Hike).

I KNOW THIS FROM MY PHD ECONOMICS.

2. High Earners are, and will increasingly, be setting up perfectly sound methods that lower their reported, LEGAL Income in the United States while transferring that Income to entities in "overseas" Tax Jurisdictions ... entities which they indirectly own. TAX REVENUES WILL NOT MATERIALIZE in the USA (or California) as a result of this Income Shifting, but many CONSULTANTS will earn very large fees for making his happen in clever, neat, tidy ways.

I know that's the same conclusion ... but I SAY THAT AS A TAX CONSULTANT.

Oh, and btw, THANKS! Your herd of sheep voted to harm their fellow Citizens, and I'm making a bundle as a result. I get to revel in the knowledge you and they will suffer from your Stupidity, as I board one of my clients' airplanes and calculate how long it will take to have my own.

Get a real motorcycle.

Occam's Tool| 12.10.12 @ 6:09PM

Thank you, JS. Or, to use a phrase from physiology, think of tax rates as osmotic pressure inside the vessel (the economy). Lower them, and income demarginates into the mainstream of the vessel; increase them and capital disappears, pushed aginst the MARGINS of the vessel. (Yes, if it helps, you may steal that---G-d Bless you in your pursuits.)

Or, to put it another way: taxes should be used to raise income for the legitimate purposes of Government. They should NEVER be used as a vehicle of social engineering.

SilkyWiley| 12.8.12 @ 1:09PM

5% of the populace pull the other 95% around, has been thus for all time. And the 95% hate them. In some orgies of their hatred, they kill them off and the entire civilization collapses. The capital flight and brain drain going on now with the American diaspora predicts what is coming. (Even our best physicists are living in Switzerland) Perhaps a good housecleaning of the lower genetics is a natural conflagration leading to a rising pheonix elsewhere.

VICKEE| 12.9.12 @ 3:53PM

It was Satan that enabled the citizens of Washington and Maine to vote to allow gay marriage. Yes, Jesus is also a communist or socialist and like Obama will ultimately convince people to give to poor or people that are sick or lazy. John Boehner is also a closet communist and is in the process of making a secret deal with obama that will sell the Republican party down the river. We can go on and on with this silly querulous nonage. You Republicans are in a fantasy land. But, I am loving it. Please continue. Please dont stop what you are doing. Stand back and let it crash. That's the sum and substance of what this three page rant has said, and it is the onlyl answer. Nobody understands how worthless and destructive socialism is until he or she has lived under it and paid for it for more than two years; nobody in the USA can understand why socialism has always failed everywhere it has been tried, because the only way to understand it is to live under it with no escape road available. Socialism CANNOT work. If you have one horse pulling a wagon, and you load the wagon with freeloaders, sooner or later one of two things will happen. Either the horse will lie down and refuse to move, or the horse will die. Either way, the wagon full of freeloaders goes nowhere. The government cannot give you "free stuff" if it doesn't take that money away from someone first. Governments do not produce anything. All they do is extort money from people who have it, and fling some of it out the windows of their speeding limousines.

PolishKnight| 12.5.12 @ 10:29AM

This has already happened: FDR. He successfully blamed all the problems on Republicans and that mantra continues even now. GWB is merely a renaming of Hoover, but it hasn't changed.

In the meantime, the left wins elections by buying votes either with cash, when that still works, or via race entitlements as they did in Germany or the USSR. That chocolate and cigarette ration tastes extra good when you see group X riding off in a train to a "freedom" camp.

And the Republican elites do nothing about it provided they can keep those top tax rates low. Maybe they'll care when their private jet loses the big screen TV.

Al Adab| 12.5.12 @ 10:33AM

Current polls already demonstrate that the GOP will get the blame no matter what happens. Therefore, why not show backbone, take the hit and the blame and rid the nation of this incessant redistributionist theft and loss of Liberty. If the nation survives as a free one, what matter whether the GOP as an institution survives as well. Is it not worth the price of party existence to restrore and preserve the Liberty of American citizens?

vtwin| 12.5.12 @ 10:46AM

Polls? Do you mean the Main Stream Media polls or the unskewed polls that predicted the Romney landslide?

Doctor Right| 12.5.12 @ 11:31AM

I prefer the "Reality Pole" that's going to smack idiot liberals like yourself squarely in the head when the economy continues to tank, and you ask yourself why your Messiah isn't fixing it.

I CAN'T WAIT until Liberals begin to suffer the consequences of their idiocy as expressed in their votes!!!

I'm practically GIDDY with anticipation!!!!

Drunken Sailor| 12.5.12 @ 2:39PM

I wouldn't sweat it Al, Yes the GOP will probably take the hit in the short term. But America has a political amnesia problem for anything beyond short term. In 4 years a failed economy should land right back in Obama's lap.

It's the same strategy used on Bush. The dems tanked the economy, yet 2 years later (hell going on 6 years now) Bush got the blame.

When the Obama suckers finally figure out that taxing the 2% only lasted about two days, then they find Obama moves the bar on being rich down even farther, they may suddenly find themselves in a higher tax bracket. Of course, then they will finally notice and scream as well.

Mr Kev's Brother| 12.9.12 @ 11:29PM

Well PolishKnight. You have a point there. FDR was really German and a Nazi. He was really not Dutch and the guy who sat in the white house was really a communist spy who pretended to be FDR. So we have been duped by the Democrats. And Let me tell you this. The Democrats don't want to admit but the following celebrities were also Republicans: 1. Santa Claus 2. Mickey Mouse 3. Donald Duck 4. Fred Flintstone 5. Easter Bunny. 6. Mr. Rodgers 7. Speed Racer 8. Snow White , well she was a fast women too. 9. Olive Oil 10. Popeye, 11. George Jefferson. These individuals were afraid to come out of the closet and reveal their Republican conservative leanings. I also understand that one of these celebrities will try to run for the Republican nomination in 2016. That is what Republicans should focus on..Whack jobs are everywhere these days. HAHA..i love this site. It is so funny.

Martin kzovich| 12.5.12 @ 7:03AM

You are extremely optimistic in your forecast. I tell you this the first thing that should happen right now is for the Republican Party to stop negotiating with your new king. Second send tin and pass in the house their own plan for the deficit, let the communists defeat it and then they have an argument. Negotiating with our new king is kabuky theater and thus not worth the bother.

Dai Alanye | 12.5.12 @ 12:06PM

This is correct. Pass a budget or set a marker by refusing to raise the debt ceiling, thereby forcing Obama to come up with a compromise or counter-proposal.

Mr Kev's Brother| 12.9.12 @ 11:40PM

You know Martin Kzovich, the idea that Obama is a King is pretty appealling. You suppose he will get to stay on beyond his four year term? I am really hoping that he is annointed King because it would be good to have the pomp and circumstance of the British. Obama's children can marry a handsome European Prince. Perhaps one of them can marry Prince Harry. He seems to be a quite interesting chap. He is very wealthy too. I also think we should consider building palaces like the British. Perhaps something on the scale of the Versailles Paris in France. You know, I would like to know if it is possible that Obama could be an absolute monarch as well. Let us suspend the constitution and give the Congress a long vacation. That way Obama can own this economy. Yes, I want to see my leader as a King. That sounds cool. King Obama. Mitt Romney can be his court jester. Mitch McConnell can be his personal assistant. Boehner can be the new head of FEMA. Rudy Guiliani can be Obama's personal valet. Rush Limbaugh would be invited over for an annual flogging. Maybe Obama can expell some of his public enemies and really take on the likeness of King of the Kingdom of the United States. Just another whack Job Republican theory.

No compromise with the Obama agenda - he owns it and when it all hits the fan - well then the people will have to choose in 2014 to correct it. However, if we dont put up true fiscal conservaties to run against the socialist dems, thus not actually giving the people a true choice, then I am afraid it really is over for America.

Von Mises Jr| 12.5.12 @ 8:56AM

Before Jefferson died in 1826 (coincidentally the same day John Adams died and the 50th Anniversary of the nation); he mused that he thought the American Constitution should have even permeated down further to the local communities where input was more than simply representative and controlled by the Ruling Class for two and four year intervals.
The beauty of the American Revolution and successful Constitution was its local and State governments. The State Constitutions especially from VA and MA, along with other established colonies such as NY and CT formed our Nation's Federalist Constitution.
This is why I think we will find the answer in the Red States, if there is an answer for America. I think Rick Scott, Mike Pence, Scott Walker, Nikki Haley and others are our best hope.
The good thing about our structure is that when the people reject the authority of the leadership, they can funnel it through their States and coordinate as an organized group.
The alternative is what we are seeing in Cairo yesterday where the people take to the streets and drive the Dictator out fleeing his Palace.
Instead, what we will hopefully experience is the national government not welcome in many of the Red Federalist States. To acquiesce would be to doom our Federalism and become a National government, hence a Dictatorship.

PJ| 12.5.12 @ 9:42AM

Your idea works only if there is honor & honesty in the process. The federal government has the manpower to strong-arm these states into submission. It was done once by Abraham Lincoln. It can certainly be done again.

I always wondered why Obama keeps quoting Lincoln since he has no affinity to the American Blacks' plight (He will not bail out Detroit.) nor to any of Lincoln's morals. Yet, it was Lincoln who bypassed many of the constitutional rights to win the Civil War & Obama is astute enough to take note.

Obama is so unbalanced that I bet he actually believes that he is at war, not just a competitive contest of ideas that most politicians view, with Republicans & the American people. He is using bellicose words & having a "stuck-up" attitude to create divisions within the enemies' camp.

Von Mises Jr| 12.5.12 @ 10:16AM

I understand your concern, PJ, but I hope you are wrong. Lincoln had the will of the people behind him. A country does not embark upon a civil war just because Dear Leader commands it.
My expectation is that the liberal Blue States will deteriorate into rebellion more similar to Greece where Perp and little alan brooks will be re-deployed to throw rocks through bank windows. I know these people for all my life and they are cowards. They will not come to the Mason Dixon Line with their guns ready to fight like men for a cause. Besides, their cause is illegitimate. They want to steal other's property to cover the socialist promises.
I have been down South and out West many times, and the little cowardly bastards like OWS that push seniors down stairs are no match for real men.

Stkman| 12.5.12 @ 11:01AM

Von,
There is something else to ponder as well. Should the red states say "no" to the federal government, and the Feds decide to not play nice, how many generals and admirals will finally stand up and accuse the President of being the enemy from within? Today generals and admirals know that should a civil war break out they they will either have to kill millions of Americans, or just take down 100 Sentaors, 435 Congressmen, 11 Supreme Court Justices and one Dictator wannabe.
I'm betting the generals and admirals can see what the easier battle will be and Constitutionally they are bound to stand down anyway, but also to protect and uphold the Constitution of the United States. We the People win.

You guys need a clue. The racist white southern Democrats all moved to the Republican party. i.e. Strom Thurmond.

It's your family. You gotta live with them.

Albert Constantine Jr.| 12.5.12 @ 3:28PM

I believe the late Senator Robert "Sheets" Byrd (D)-WV, Orval Faubus(D)-AR, Clinton mentor William Fulbright (D)-AR, Lester Maddox (D)-GA , Albert Gore Sr. (D)-TN (to name but a few) all died staunch Democrats, suggesting that the ghosts at your family reunion will be much more crowded.

Arnie| 12.5.12 @ 5:00PM

So I guess the vast majority of the whites in the South vote Democratic? Is that what you are implying?

Or just that the racist ones are in the Democratic Party down there and they vote for a black president....please explain

Albert Constantine Jr.| 12.5.12 @ 7:52PM

It is a historical fact that the Ku Klux Klan originated as the terrorist arm of the Democrat Party. It is a fact that all of those whom I listed above were and remained Democrats. Senator Byrd, who died in 2010, was a recruiter for the Klan, and held senior Democrat Senate leadership positions into this century.

So yes, there are still racists in the Democrat party, including in the South. While during the latter part of the 20th century, the Democrats shifted from pandering to whites on the basis of race to pandering to blacks on the basis of race (in addition to its other divisive politics such as class warfare), racists are still present and welcome there.

Your post seems to automatically assume that a white person, particularly from the South, is automatically racist, and voting Republican is somehow evidence of that. While there may be individual racists in the Republican Party, the evidence and the historical fact is that for 100+ years, racism and race-baiting is the policy of the Democrats, and the race-baiting continues today.

Mr Kev's Brother| 12.10.12 @ 9:30PM

Albert Constantiene Jr (AKA Newt Gingrich) You are quite correct in your analysis of the history of the Democratic Party. Your logic, however, gets a little fuzzy when you i think, intentionally, gloss over how the use of the "southern strategy" by the GOP was employed, resulting in the old Democratic Party in the south to switch to the GOP. Which explains, in part, why the GOP lost to a "black man" twice. Most people are not where you are intellectually and morally. You and most people on this particular blog view the world as you want it to be instead of how it really is. That is why the GOP acting within the parameters of its "bubble" were shocked that the rest of the nation no longer viewed the world the same as them. Obama's victory is due in part to the changing demographics. However, that only tells a part of the picture. Most young voters between the ages of 18 and 29 voted for Obama. You really have to answer why. A hint. Your answer will not be in a "socialist or communisty theology". That tag is merely a republican contrivance to deligitimize the Obama presidency and to make Obama seem less American or Anti-American. (We all know that didnt work in either 2008 or 2016. So you pubs are really in a pickle. The American people will simply not get bit by that dog twice. They wont be hoodwinked by racial politics or any attempt to dehumanize Obama or his supporters because they do not share your world view.

Mr Kev's Brother| 12.10.12 @ 9:46PM

To be honest, I am really concerned that the Republican party is losing ground quicker than a California mudslide. We need at least two parties. One party will surely be not in America's best interest. The Republican party must up its game. However, that will not happen if whack jobs are running your party. I view your posts depicting Obama as a socialist or communisty mercurial and counter productive. I repeat what I said in an earlier post, Obama is no more a socialist or communist than any other American president. The Republican party is a problem with its brand. No one will buy a cereal box that has a big red sign saying "Danger, eat at your own risk". When you allow Gingrich, Hannity, Limbaugh, Oreilly, and other zealots lead your party you have that big red warning sign smack dead on the republican label. Furthermore, the "dog whistle" tactics of the right to secure votes from the southern disaffected white who is angry and fearful of a more empowered minority communities will only lead you down a dark ditch. You cant climb out of that ditch if you are blind folded or digging deeper instead of simply climbing out of it. Your enemy is not Obama or the left. You are your own worst enemy if you don't understand the lesson of the ditch. You can hold someone down in the ditch but you got to langer their with them. You have to langer their with them.

Nancy in NC| 12.5.12 @ 8:28AM

To expect the Obamulato voters to get a clue would require them to get a brain and think for themselves. They are like robots that have been programmed to pull the D lever even when it goes against their own self interest.

When the pedal meets the metal they will riot in the streets, destroy businesses they need to survive and do other equally stupid things like steal tennis shoes in size 3 and TVs when there's no electricity.

Stan Redmond| 12.5.12 @ 2:35PM

Nothing will wake them up. I am reminded of news stories where Obama voters are waiting in all day lines for some handout. To a normal hard working person that would be humiliating and degrading. BUT... OBama voters continue to humiliate themselves for the promise of a government pittance. People this stupid will easily be manipulated and 'organized' in to mobs and gladly march to their doom to follow the King Obama. They won't ever feel they've been taken. Never. They never had anything to take. They have received everything from birth. When they no longer have government cheese who are they going to blame? The hand that has been giving them this cheese their entire lives or the mean nasty taxpayers. Hello Greece.

Von Mises Jr| 12.5.12 @ 8:42AM

Before I read Peter Ferarra's article, I stated the same for the previous article. If you understand economics, and you understand what the Socialist plan is, it only makes sense:

"Perhaps the only thing that can save the country now is turmoil and misery. Events always inject them into the mix. Spiraling inflation, market crash, job losses on exponential scale or a well placed terrorist attack can wake people up, even "Stupid" Obama voters.
Benghazi meant nothing to them. But perhaps another 911 in their backyards will get their attention?

The climax of my dream was when we went to the White House and rousted Barack and Michelle. Michelle was highly indignant, but Barack didn't say hardly anything at all.

Not necessarily... when Napoleon invaded Russia, Kuznyetsov couldn't beat him in a nose to nose fight, so he fenced and retreated, fenced and retreated, into the vast hinterland.

Napoleon's policies, like purple lip's policies, were eventually self-defeating, and Russian soldiers eventually entered Paris.

PS When they pounded on tables for faster service there, they yelled "bistro !" (faster), and that's how certain types of establishments got their name.

We may have Democrats providing services for us in the long run.

Albert is spot on, Bill. Barney Fwank and Chris "Friend of Angelo" Dodd put the pedal to the medal with Fannie and Freddie with Chucky "Cheesy" Schumer triggering the collapse with the IndyMac scare.
But I was not advocating purposely crushing the economy the way the socialist in the DemoRat Party did. I am simply stating the obvious. We are going to CRASH. Put on your CRASH helmet. It is coming, and when it does, we will need to deal with the reality.
Quite frankly, I know that it cannot be avoided. But the first phase of dealing with a problem is acceptance. The next is the rational response. Many will look for more government, but we must make sure that someone is telling them what the hell really just happened to their sorry asses.
Then we can move on with or without them, most like without.

It's not a winning strategy to insist on not raising taxes for "the rich" while insisting at the same time on cutting Medicare and Medicaid benefits that ordinary people have come to depend on.

It does no good to explain the reasoning behind that position; it's seen as being pimps for the rich and being uncaring about the rest of us.

Al Adab| 12.5.12 @ 10:43AM

Winning strategy or not it is however a proper moral position. No one has a claim to the earnings, wealth or property of any other citizen. It is the duty of the government to protect those persons in their property not to find ways by which to deprive them of it.

Should we somehow decide (we may have just done so) that one group has the moral right to decide which of us has too much and to confiscate it on some basis for the use of others the national life will devolve into a kleptocracy wherein those seeking power may appeal to the plebs and promise ever more from the public trough.

"To tax one person, group or class to benefit another person, group or class, is theft." John W. Davis Democrat candidate for President 1924.

Kwan| 12.5.12 @ 12:40PM

The fatal flaw in Obama's redistribution ideology is that eventually the producers lose the incentive to produce, and the economy begins to shrink. Businesses close their doors, workers get laid-off, and tax remittances to the treasury begin to decrease. Why do you think Obama wants to get rid of the ceiling on borrowing. He knows that the stagnant economy that he is creating cannot fund the out-of-control social justice spending that he wants to implement.

Ralph Novy| 12.5.12 @ 2:47PM

"No one has a claim to the earnings, wealth or property of any other citizen."

"To tax one person, group or class to benefit another person, group or class, is theft."

Those positions were utterly repudiated in 1789 with the ratification of The Constitution.

Or hadn't you heard?

Al Adab| 12.5.12 @ 5:46PM

Really Ralph?:
Perhaps that explains why there needed to be a 16th amendment to legalize an income tax and why John Davis brought it up in 1924.

Can't say I see anything in the Constitution that repudiates the concept of private property. Could you perhaps kindly cite the article and section where such is found?

Grzmlyk| 12.5.12 @ 5:49PM

Well if it isn't the self-admitted moron, pervert and freeloader. How are things in Loserville, parasite?

JS Mill| 12.10.12 @ 9:54AM

Uh ... false. See Al Adab.

To expand, let's turn to the past:

"Man can live and satisfy his wants only by ceaseless labor; by the ceaseless application of his faculties to natural resources. This process is the origin of property.

"But it is also true that a man may live and satisfy his wants by seizing and consuming the products of the labor of others. This process is the origin of plunder.

"Now since man is naturally inclined to avoid pain — and since labor is pain in itself — it follows that men will resort to plunder whenever plunder is easier than work. History shows this quite clearly. And under these conditions, neither religion nor morality can stop it.

"When, then, does plunder stop? It stops when it becomes more painful and more dangerous than labor.

"It is evident, then, that the proper purpose of law is to use the power of its collective force to stop this fatal tendency to plunder instead of to work. All the measures of the law should protect property and punish plunder.

JS Mill| 12.10.12 @ 9:54AM

"But, generally, the law is made by one man or one class of men. And since law cannot operate without the sanction and support of a dominating force, this force must be entrusted to those who make the laws.

"This fact, combined with the fatal tendency that exists in the heart of man to satisfy his wants with the least possible effort, explains the almost universal perversion of the law. Thus it is easy to understand how law, instead of checking injustice, becomes the invincible weapon of injustice. It is easy to understand why the law is used by the legislator to destroy in varying degrees among the rest of the people, their personal independence by slavery, their liberty by oppression, and their property by plunder. This is done for the benefit of the person who makes the law, and in proportion to the power that he holds."

~ from "The Law" Frederic Bastiat (1850)

Kwan| 12.5.12 @ 9:36AM

Mission Impossible for the MSM will be to try to cover-up the coming economic disaster that will result from Obama's "War on the American Economy". If any moron hasn't figured it out yet Obama and the left believe that if they can collapse the economy with their ridiculous Marxist policies, they can then implement a Soviet-style central government command-and-control of the other 5/6ths of the economy -ObamaCare is suppose to control 1/6th of the economy when fully activated- in order to save the nation, and complete the fundamental transformation of the United States into Venezuela-North.

Pecos Pete| 12.5.12 @ 11:15AM

And the BLS will be reporting unemployment at 3.67% to support the MSM. GDP will be growing at 3.78% as reported by whoever in the hell makes up government statistics.

Stkman| 12.5.12 @ 11:53AM

And inflation will remain under 4% just like it has been for the last 30 years since the government leaves out the all imortant fule and food cost. This is how both parties have protected corporate America from having to pay higher wages to the middle class. The lyinghas been gpoing on for a long time and neither party has exclusive right to it.

Kwan| 12.5.12 @ 12:25PM

That's right. Who are you going to believe your lying eyes or Obama's stooges?

JS Mill| 12.10.12 @ 10:04AM

The Economist dropped Argentina's official inflation figures from their weekly tables last summer.

They use a private American firm's numbers instead, seeing as PUBLISHING INFLATION FIGURES was made a CRIME in Argentina.

Now isn't that interesting.

BTW, for those unfamiliar with the arcane nature of inflation cooked-books, they snuck in "adjustment for quality" a few years back. So your iPad 2 cost $500, and your iPad 3 cost $500, but it's factored in as a price DROP due to the improvement in quality.

Thus allowing more money printing "without inflation," thus seizing the benefits of progress and innovation for the Government, not the People.

One more note, just for fun. Why on Earth are OIL PRICES so high despite persistent weakness in Global Demand...?

A: They're not.

Excellent article. This points out the possible break in what has been the most frustrating series of events in history, form the viewpoint of Conservatives and Americans with traditional values and respect for Americanism.

That is, Obama rampaged through Americanism and American values, without the slightest rebuke by Americans, after the 2010 elections and the significant re-taking of the House. We watch helplessly as Obama twists more and more truths into transformative deceptions, and the American people applaud more loudly and more approvingly.

Until the November election debacle, I had held a similar view, where I assumed that eventually the American people would begin to feel the squeeze of Obamanomics and would gradually awake from their stupor.

But, after November 6h, I lost my optimism and concluded that modern America has passed beyond the moral and intellectual tipping point, in which a majority of people now view Obama's Marxism as the true ideological transformation needed in modern America.

I am not yet entirely convinced that my November 7h conclusion was wrong; but this article does offer realistic hope.

Who Knows?| 12.5.12 @ 11:03AM

Events, or the totality of actions by humans, necessarily bring about other events. And, despite—or, maybe in concert with---all the words flying around places like this website and other places, as the author explains, it looks like the future has been chosen.

And, it won’t be fun for most people, that’s for sure.

But, you DO know, don’t you, that in order for real change to happen, there must be a crisis. I believe there used to be a phrase, “scared straight”, that fits America’s future.

Here’s the Dali Lama, on karma---

“if a campfire is left in a forest and catches onto some dry twigs, leading to a forest fire, the fact that once the trees are aflame they burn, becoming charcoal and smoke, is simply the operation of the natural law of causality, given the nature of fire and the materials that are burning. There is no karma involved in this sequence of events. But a sentient being choosing to light a campfire and forgetting to put it out—which began the chain of events—here karmic causation is involved.” “The Universe In A Single Atom-The Convergence of Science and Spirituality”, page 90, 2005

Enjoy the coming bonfire of our politician’s vanities. And keep aware that Obama is just the “match” chosen by the “people”.

See, he IS the Chosen One.

Mr. Ferrara, if your prediction comes true, it won't matter in the least if Obama turns into a great steaming pile of cow dung; our nation will be no more.

There will be no Conservative governance allowed anywhere Liberals do not want to control. People are slaves to their infantile emotions. They demand that others order the world to their liking. Freedom to them is no responsibility for anything and provision of everything. Wretched vengeful gutter dwelling existence is fine so long as their ego's are gratified from seeing their betters brought down. I asked the economically illiterate boob next to me in the office how this improves his life. The reply: "I feel better!" And that's easier than becoming better, even though emotional vindication is not specie for paying bills. Conservatism loses with the masses at the polls for this reason alone. The trash want satisfaction at the expense of those they despise. The sad fact is, Obama and his minions will take it all and they'll continue to adore him vicariously as he prates and globe trots in luxury that they might enjoy themselves if only they had the desire to hold on to what they earn and invest it. That scares them even more. Financial assets must be watched and cared for, ergo, their minds would be taxed instead of their wallets. They prefer the opposite.

;^)

Grzmlyk| 12.5.12 @ 11:24AM

Wow - this article starts out by telling us there is about to be a conservative renaissance in American and then, oddly, lays out what is REALLY going to happen. The second half is more accurate - there will be NO CONSERVATIVE RENAISSANCE in America. Not until the entire country collapses and, even then, it is doubtful.

Where to begin?
First off, yes, Obama and his acolytes want to reduce America's standard of living by 84% - for you and me, but not for the party and its apparatchiks, who will continue to live like sultans. The Barack Obamas, Nancy Pelosis, Matt Lauers, Michael Moores and George Clooneys of the world will continue to live in mansions, frequent expensive restaurants, employ servants and have private jets at their disposal. The more devoted you are to The Cause, the better off your life will be. And even if you’re simply a foot soldier in the war against sanity, you’ll bask in the reflected glory of Obamunism. You’ll be taken care of. You’ll never be forced to look over at that serf class that is providing you with your lifestyle by the sweat of their collective brow.

You tell us to check out the CBO’s long-term projections of Federal spending and national debt. Pish tosh! Who you gonna believe? Barack or the CBO? The New York Times or your lyin’ eyes? Reality or the mythologized SAINT that stares back at liberals when they look in the mirror?

Grzmlyk| 12.5.12 @ 11:25AM

The American people do not give a damn about national debt; they believe it doesn’t count because we owe it to ourselves, and the Krugman wing of the Democrat party – which is all of them – believes that debt is a sign of GROWTH and STRENGTH.

So even if the CBO projections will show debt spiraling out of control, well beyond what has trashed and ruined Greece, so what? Who cares? What syllable in the phrase “quantitative easing” don’t you get? The people believe that we can print our way out of any real problem, silly boy. Remember, you can’t be overdrawn if you still have checks in your checkbook.

The Ryan plan is fantasy. Let’s set aside the fat that it doesn't anticipate a balanced budget for 27 years. The real laugher is that it assumes something like 4% growth over the next 20 years or so. It’ll NEVER HAPPEN. The plan says it can get to this balanced budget despite the fact that it doesn’t cut Social Security or Medicare outlays by a penny, and despite the fact that it allows for 3.1% Federal spending INCREASES over the next 20 years. It assumes unemployment will fall to 4% by 2015 and to 2.8% by 2021. NOT A CHANCE. It assumes that inflation for the next 10 years will average just over 2%. It assumes ten-year Treasury rates will hold steady at 4.15% for a decade. NOT A CHANCE.

Grzmlyk| 12.5.12 @ 11:26AM

And all this assumes interest rates will remain at or near zero. Fat friggin’ chance. When they rise – as they must – all hell is going to break loose. The Ryan Plan, were it enacted, wouldn’t survive three months.

I love how you think that “the people” are suddenly going to get wise to the tax structure. That IS rich. The term “fair share” is evergreen – it will never, ever go out of fashion. If an income tax of 50% is a “rich person’s” “fair share” today, next year that “fair share” may be 60%. The year after, 70%, 80%, 90% or even 100%. This is a brilliant piece of mendacious propaganda that has been bought hook, line and sinker by the idiot voters.

And you think the GOP is going to get feisty? I guess it was a good start yesterday when Boehner purged all of the committees that deal with fiscal matters of their conservatives. Yeah, that’ll show those big spenders.
And you really think the people are going to rise up and call for the resignation of pseudo journalists and misleading commentators? You think they’ll abjure the NY Times and Washington Post? The mainstream media, led by these two propaganda rags, is the direct word of the Great Secular God Gaia! We’re dealing with religious zealots here, not thinking Americans. Socialism = going to heaven, capitalism = going to hell (except, of course, any profits that accrue to liberals). The Liberal Bible of the Left tells us so. When are you going to figure that out?

Grzmlyk| 12.5.12 @ 11:26AM

Honestly, “the people” aren’t going to do shit, except ask the government for more freebies.

Boehner is going to sue Harry Reid? Perhaps you need to get more ventilation into your office, because, in case you haven’t noticed, Bohener is one of THEM, not one of US. Just because he occasionally puts on the chicken uniform to fit in within the confines of the hen house doesn’t mean his DNA isn’t 100% fox.

The American people HATE the job creators. Don’t you understand that? The only “job creator” liberals like – and this country is now overwhelmingly liberal despite what delusional conservative pundits continually whine – is BIG GOVERNMENT. If you’re a job creator in the public sector, you are GOOD and deserve your $200,000 a year guaranteed for life even if all you do is rearrange piles of paper. If you’re in the private sector, you are a greedy, evil SOB who should be dragged through the streets and then lynched. And, should that occur, not a word of disapproval will emanate from Washington, the mainstream media, Hollywood, the academy, science or the popular culture. Not one word.

Grzmlyk| 12.5.12 @ 11:27AM

YOU may think the NY Times and Washington Post are overrated, but they are the band the plays the tune to which 75% of America dances, and 75% of America LOVES the music. If you think the philosophy that obtains at these places – and the hundreds of other liberal media outlets – is on the wane, you are mistaken; we are moving further to the left in this country, NOT to the right.

Yes, Obama’s abusive regulatory policies, soaring federal spending, deficits, debt and the Fed’s continued mischief are driving us into depression – hell, they’re destroying this country utterly. But if you think that isn’t what most people want, you are nuts – as long as we continue to print money and “take care” of the Party faithful, this will continue. And the party faithful can be kept in their cocoons of pleasure and vanity for a long time to come.

Stkman| 12.5.12 @ 12:02PM

Grzmlyk,
I agree with what you say, however you offer no solutions or alternatives. Therefore when you make statements like, "Honestly, “the people” aren’t going to do shit, except ask the government for more freebies." it comes across as defeatest. Now is the time to bring encouragement, so give us your thoughts on what is to be done to overcome Obama and his followers?

Grzmlyk| 12.5.12 @ 12:38PM

There are no alternatives. Don't you see that? Didn't the reelection of Obama prove that to you? Didn't Boehner's purging the GOP of conservatives prove that to you?

We continue to march in the opposite direction of where we should be going. And the truth is, we are already screwed. The debt we've already amassed will kill us. There is NOTHING WE CAN DO unless we invent a time machine.

And, in any case, those of us who don't like the direction this country is going are in a distinct minority; America has foresworn reality - we live in a delusional bubble now, and this is only going to get worse, not better, as the disparity between reality and the liberal mythology widens.

Grzmlyk| 12.5.12 @ 12:39PM

Sometimes there are no alternatives. Rome DID FALL. The British empire DID collapse. The Ottoman Empire DID collapse. The Hapsburg Empire DID collapse. Byzantium DID collapse. Egypt DID collapse. The Etruscans DID collapse.

Our enemy is human nature - we have broken into the public treasury and this orgy will not stop - and it's exacerbated by the rhetoric of the left - and its enabler, the popular culture (including 100% of our education system, 99% of mainstream media, 95% of science, 100% of government) - that has convinced Americans that greed, envy, sloth, etc. are VIRTUOUS.

Doctors always prescribe chemo to stage 4 cancer patients - it doesn't make a damn bit of difference in the overwhelming majority, but it makes them feel like they're fighting it.

Is it defeatist to say the Bears lost last week? The game is OVER.

Stick to your principles, prepare for the worst, leave the country, stay and take up arms - do what you want. But America is over.

Stkman| 12.5.12 @ 1:10PM

Wow, what a defeatest losing attitude. Do you reward your kids for bad grades? Do you give them trophies when they come in last? I guess we should dumb everything down so your kids will make as a good of grades as mine.
You leave, and you let the men fight on your behalf. All you'll do is get in the way and get some of us killed while you run around like a chicken with it's head cut off trying to decide if you are a patriot or a coward. So get out of the way, I don't want to waste a bullet on you even if it is an accident.

Grzmlyk| 12.5.12 @ 1:16PM

Come on. Please stop with the puerile posturing, tough guy. I'll take you on any day of the week. Capice, mook???

You don't seem to understand that what has destroyed this country has ALREADY HAPPENED.

Ya'll gonna git yer 30-aught-six and stand in yer front yard to pertect yer yunguns? Go for it.

But you cannot change the past, and pretending you can doesn't make you optimistic, and it doesn't make you a "real man." It makes you a fool.

You really don't get it, do you?

Grzmlyk| 12.5.12 @ 1:18PM

By the way, how many times do you want to play Charlie Brown and have Lucy - the GOP we elect - take the football away jsut as you're about to kick it? If you can't figure it out after 1,000,000,000 times, my guess is you're never going to figure it out.

Grzmlyk| 12.5.12 @ 1:26PM

Also, tough guy, what did you do yesterday to "be a patriot? How about the day before? How about today? What have you done, oh holier-than-thou wishful thinker, to change the trajectory of this country?

Stkman| 12.5.12 @ 1:29PM

I figured it out when they gave us McCain. Sometimes you have to go with the lessor of two evils. Sometimes you have to hold out hope, and sometimes you have to NO! You can't seem to do that without saying "I Surrender". Go ahead, surrender. I won't. Not ever. I know in my heart of hearts that there are millions like me.
Yeah, you go ahead and make fun of those of us who are in your words, "gonna git yer 30-aught-six and stand in yer front yard to pertect yer yunguns? Go for it." I think there were those who said the same thing to Washington and Hamilton. So like I said, shut your girly face up and go find a site for losers. This is a mans room and if you can't be any more optimistic than Joellen or some of the other patriot ladies here then please leave. I guess you don't have any kids. Any real man would fight to the end for his children. I refuse to leave this country the way it currently is to my children and grandchildren. I refuse to think that one day my children or grandchildren say they are the descendant of a pussy.
So Leave us now! And remeber to lift the seat back up when you get done. A man may be next in line.

Grzmlyk| 12.5.12 @ 1:57PM

Oh please. You are not only an idiot, you are ridiculous. What, are you convinced you're in an old movie Western?

You go about preening about what a big man you are, how yer gunna fight - meanwhile all you do is flap your gums about how you're going to take up arms. You sound like Old Texican or whatever his name is, who posts here occasionally. Always quick to tell us what a tough cowboy he is and how close at hand his gun is. Funny, he never presents us with a resume that shows us what a big friggin' man he is.

Talk is cheap.

Look around you, bright boy - what you claim you'll fight for doesn't exist anymore.

And I never used the word surrender - but I'm not delusional.

You do not have the authority to tell me to leave, tough guy, and just because you think you're a "big man" with huge cajones, that doesn't make you a hero to the resistance - even if you could order your no-doubt obsequious wife to agree with you - it just means that for some reason you're really hung up on proving what a macho man you are - in writing, no less. Yeah, I'm REAL impressed.

I won't get too deep into history, but the reason that real patriots fought and won the Revolutionary war was because a critical mass of people - with the help of the Hessians and the French for their own reasons - tipped the balance.

You obviously haven't noticed, but most Americans LOVE what this country has become. We are moving LEFT, not RIGHT.

Grzmlyk| 12.5.12 @ 2:06PM

BTW, you can't shoot hyperinflation. You can't beat up a sovereign debt crisis. You can't intimidate economic collapse. Those are the things that have destroyed us. We borrow $188 million every hour of every day to run the government. And it's getting worse.

How are you and your big cajones and your gun gonna stop THAT?

Grzmlyk| 12.5.12 @ 2:25PM

One more thing: Aside from the occasional whistling-past-the-graveyard column like this one, which promises that the pendulum will swing back in favor of conservatism if we all just pretend hard enough, look at 80% of the content coming from the conservative pundit class.

What are they telling us to do in order to win future elections? Become Democrats. Pass amnesty for illegal aliens. Continue the document-mill grift of student loans. Index minimum wage to the rate of inflation. Don't touch entitlements. Embrace abortion. Embrace affirmative action. Make peace with big government.

So we're going to take our country back by becoming liberals? I'm not the one who has surrendered - it's the Republican party that surrendered, and has for a very long time: Nixon, Reagan to some extent, Bush Sr., Bush Jr. Think Romney wouldn't have surrendered? He'd have bent over to "reach across the aisle" faster than a hooker in a frat house.

Don't get mad at me - get mad at the feckless, spineless, corrupt GOP. And 80 years of conservatives playing go-along-to-get-along as our culture was gutted, rotted and turned into sewage.

DRed| 12.5.12 @ 6:43PM

Like I've said, you're a smart guy, Grz, but you live in a fantasy world. If the deluded nonsense you believe was actually true, you'd be right. But, unfortunately for you, reality is somewhat different.

Stkman| 12.5.12 @ 3:40PM

Sorry to burst your bubble, but some states still live pretty free. Some states still expect people to look to themselves, their family and their church for a hand up before they come begging to the state. I happen to live in one of those states. I'm sorry you live in some state where you've been brainwashed to give up before the fight has even started.
History, you want to give me a history lesson? What could you possibly teach me about history other than what the French would do? I'm fully aware that the French assisted us, but only after we had won a major victory. i'm fully aware on which side the Hessians fought, evidently you are aren't.
You did'nt use the word "surrender"? Sure you did, you just used a hundred or more words when you could have just used the one, surrender.
Moving left, I guess you are, because you have weak roots and a weak fortitude.
I sound like "Old Texan", good, I couldn't be prouder. Old Texan and I sound like a few million other Texans too.
I'm done speaking to you. Until you grow a backbone and show a bit of courage and the American spirit your just another liberal to me. Just a waste of space and good air.

Grzmlyk| 12.5.12 @ 5:42PM

Before it's even started? When exactly are you planning to start? What are you waiting for? A real sign that America is turning socialist? Gee, how about electing Barack Obama TWICE? Every single year this country moves further left and Republicans and conservatives promise that NOW they're gonna roll up their sleeves and take the fight to the liberals. It never happens. We draw a line in the sand and, funny, we keep moving it back. Can't you see what this country has already become? If you haven't begun the fight yet, I suggest that, once you do, you'll be attempting to close the barn door after the horse is long gone.

And what form do you think this fight is going to take? What have YOU done to change the status quo? What are YOU going to do tomorrow? Do you have any idea how impossible it is for America to pay off its debts? How, exactly, are you planning to fight your way out of a sovereign debt crisis? Go ahead, tell me HOW we’re going to survive this - don't just posture. I’m dying to hear how we’re going to get out of this.

Or are you just good at running your mouth when somebody is blunt enough to tell you the truth?

Grzmlyk| 12.5.12 @ 5:42PM

You live in an alternate universe if you think I'm a liberal. And you live in an alternate universe if you think America isn't already lost. You can't surrender in a war that's over, tough guy.

Hey, guys, you know what? You cowards who think the Bears lost that game against the Seahawks? They can still win! Honest they can! Because I believe it, damn it!

In case you haven't noticed, federalism is evaporating in this country - it soon won't make a bit of difference where you move because the central planners in DC do not want people to have that freedom of mobility - and states that used to be bastions of freedom, like New Hampshire, are becoming more liberal every day. The whole point of Marxism is one-world government, and Obama’s going to start by adding thousands and thousands of Federal regulations that states won’t be able to wriggle out of.

You are right about the Hessians - I was typing faster than my brain was processing information.

If you know history, think of the battle of Little Big Horn - they didn't surrender, and I won't surrender, even though I know it’s a lost cause. Because we are outnumbered, outflanked and outgunned. America has the government it WANTS. You and I are in the minority.

Hopefully, Mr. Ferrara's prognosis will turn out to be correct. One must remember, however, that FDR was elected 4 times by trying this, that and the other thing. The public rewarded him for trying to end the depression even though his efforts were based on wrong economic theory.

Another worry is that Obama may have 2016 and 2020 on his mind. The Constitution limits him to 2 terms. But what if tries the switch-a-roo that Putin got away with in Russia. He might run as V.P. but retain the levers of power over whomever runs as President. Or he could offer a Co-Presidency to a running mate. Gerald Ford offered Reagan such a proposition in 1976. Obama's political path looks remarkably similar to how Hugo Chavez in Venezuela has worked to become President for life.

Stan Redmond| 12.5.12 @ 2:49PM

I would not be surprised if King Obama [pbuh] tries for 3 terms. Maybe more. The reason being is who's going to stop him? Boehner? Reid? The USSC? The Electoral college? I dare say the only machine capable of taking him on would be Hillary and what political capital do the Clintons have after the defections to Obama's side?

JS Mill| 12.10.12 @ 10:24AM

Albert Constantine Jr.| 12.5.12 @ 1:16PM

Oldefarte| 12.5.12 @ 3:54PM

You are no doubt correct concerning election fraud, but who fights photo-ID enactment laws nationwide? Democratic Party politicians. Why?
Simple, because Democrats are fraudulent. Oh and take it to the bank that, in consideration of this fraud, that a majority of Americans voted for the KING. Why? Because they like their governmental goodies and want them to continue. And who are these Americans? Try labor union employees of every government, local/state and federal; who all knew that Romney's election would result in a possible huge elimination of their jobs/benefits via the elimination/merging of departments/agencies etc in order to reduce the governmental defecit/debt and the word went out to each/every governmental employee to vote for the KING. Every policeman, fireman, stree/sewer/garbage worker, public school teacher/administrator, state and federal employee voted to "PYA" [oh as a comparison, CitiBank just announced a 11000 employee layoff/termination, but of course that is in the PRIVATE SECTOR]. As a consequence of 11/6/12, the taxpayers of this nation got screwed. Many of us will be "LMAO" over the $2500 income tax increases per taxpayer that the KING will institute next year!!!!!!!!!!!

Obama’s pathology is far worse. The usual Marxist daydream about how wealth is created by Third World countries that First World baddies then steal would lend his thought stature by comparison, albeit while making him look like a Marxist lamebrain.

O’s deep anger at America comes from the circumstances he and his mother endured while in Indonesia. The stepfather’s status conferred upon them a poorer standard of living than what Marxist Mommy Dearest felt was their due—even though her husband did well, by Indonesian standards, working for a US oil company. She stoked in little Barry a furious resentment over the privations of those years, driving in turn O’s overpowering need to get back at the oil industry and at America. It motivates him to implement what he knows is dangerous economic policy while masking it with redistributive lies. In the meantime O’s large living is pocket change compensation until the real hammer falls.

This Marxist mole does not wish America well. His every untelepromptered utterance backs this up. Wise-up America before it is too late.

We have never before experienced such a deep sense of patriotic devotion towards our German fatherland … I shall never forget the expressions of rapture which I saw on the faces around me today.”

Pej | 12.5.12 @ 12:51PM

There is nothing to lead us to believe that there will be a Republican renaissance, or an awakening by the people at all. The people, truly, have become weak and shallow.

However, Americans are accustomed to a fairly high standard of living, even if in recent years it was based in the amount of credit left on their credit cards and the equity in their government entitlements.

And, we know that the economy is headed for hard times--there is no possibility it can do otherwise, given our current path, which will not change until there is nothing left to sustain it.

So, I think there is hope that as the economy grinds down, the people will become hostile to the current regime, simply because of their increasing discomfort. When that happens, the Socialist media, the Marxist administration, and even Hollywood will lose their allure (voters won't care so much about the ideologies of the Left when they are truly short on survival money).

Pej | 12.5.12 @ 12:51PM

This, by no means, is a belief that the shallowness of the American people will go away--it is simply an observation that they, really, have no loyalty to anyone who can't keep the mediocrity going.

And, I am aware that in the 30's the people stuck with FDR even as times got harder and never held him liable. But, the people were tougher then--now they will riot when there is no money for drugs, or if they are forced to take some low-level personal action to survive, when there is a shortage of survival money coming from Obama; or the unthinkable, that they can't upgrade their phone to the newest model.

So, I do think there is hope; although, any hope of change will, absolutely, depend on an economic collapse. But, that is a given. So, we may be able to change out the Marxists in a few years, clear away some debris, and try again.

SilkyWiley| 12.8.12 @ 12:53PM

With all due respect, you're kidding yourself. Presumably the average American Spectator reader is relatively well-informed and grounded in something resembling reality, but it is baldly apparent from the last election that the American electorate overall is ill-informed, deluded and subsisting on fantasies ("HOPE" was what fetched them in 2008 as well as 2012). The "Conservative Ascendancy" is a pipe dream; the common-sense pragmatism of Conservatism is as odious and repellant to the average American voter as a strict but well-meaning father's admonitions about her worthless boyfriend are to a love-struck teenage girl."He loves me Daddy!" and that's all she wants to know...

I really thought Paul Ryan was that leader. He is not. He signed the surrender letter conjured up by the RINOs. Tax increases indeed! He just made a post election speech essentially saying we just need to make big government better.

Have been a conservative since my first political awareness at around 8 years old. I was raised by socialist tax cheat atheists.

View everything from a spiritual and historical perspective. A disciple of Paramhansa Yogananda. He was politically astute, believed FDR was a traitor to the country for bringing in big government, coddling communists. A book written in the 70s titled The Road Ahead chronicles Yogananda's prophesies. After the turn of this century he said the dollar would collapse, there would be attempts to replace it with a world chit. Communism is the greatest threat to the world. He counseled his disciples to get out of the cities which would be nightmares of violence and to buy rural property, live among godly people and support yourself living simply. He said the US would be attacked, lose millions of people, in the end we would prevail because of one high consciousness concept. Our rights come from God. I am assuming after our tribulations we will go back to the original clean Constitution.

I fear Obama is as great an evil as any in history. I do not believe any politicians or current leaders are going to stop our meeting with destiny. At their convention democrats denied God three times and apparently a majority of the populace put these Godless people back in power. As a disciple of Paramhansa Yogananda, I follow his advice and trust to God.

"You" to describe what, about 60 million people?

I'm wondering what, exactly, have you dranked before you post. Why don't you start by looking up the Party Allegiance of the Super-Rich...? You may find it "Shocking."

JS Mill| 12.10.12 @ 11:10AM

Correction: "dominant Party Allegiance"

Mr Kev's Brother| 12.9.12 @ 12:39PM

This is the funniest sht i have read on these blogs in such a long time. Obama is no more of a socialist or communist than any other president. Under your definition of "socialism" FDR, Nixon, Reagan, Bush, Clinton, all of the past presidents in the 20th century, except for Mr. Laissez faire-Hoover, would be a socialist. I hope you know that Hoover was unsuccessful because he was trapped by his own ideology and unwilling to modernize his views. I understand, you fear Obama. His elections represents a rejection of what you stand for and conservatism, and the power of the white male establishment. I get that. yet this notion that Obama is a socialist is more right wing nonsense, driven by the crazies like Limbaugh, Hannity, Oreilly, Krauthammer, and all of the other loonies that call themselves conservatives. Ferrara, stop this insanity. You will permanently make the republican party the party of the past if you continue in this vain. Your theory is just so off point and utterly ridiculous. You are rallying up these non thinkers on this board, who have also drank the kool aid. Why would you do that Ferrara? Have you no shame?

bigfoot9p6| 12.9.12 @ 1:07PM

Get a grip Peter. And also, perhaps a little sun.

Pa Deuce | 12.9.12 @ 2:02PM

It is gratifying that Ferrara has vigoroulsy called a shovel a shovel, or a Marxist a Marxist, as the case may be. Most conservative commentators are still hung up on correctness as the economy and the Republic collapse, and our way of life is threatened.

Ferrara is half way there. The complete description of Obama would be "Marxist psychopath". Dr. Robert Hare is the leading professional psychologist who defined and characterized the leadership of WorldCom and Enron. Besides being convicted of criminal activity, some of the Enron leadership committed suicide. The same narcissistic and anti-social behaviors that defined those corporate psychopaths are abundantly evident in the Obama Administration.

The American citizens will wake up to the fact that we are being led to our doom by a bunch of radical psychopaths. I hope the awadening comes before WWIII, as Obama's actions have an uncanny resemblance to Adolph Hitler, another psychopath.

Just they other day I called my gf's dog "spayed"

soldiermom11| 12.9.12 @ 2:29PM

At this point I have nothing to lose. Both myself and my husband have been laid off and at our age and hundreds of applications later, I don't see any new prospects for the future. So if I have to have more pain (lose my home) to get this country back to freedom and away from the marxists, I will. It's just so sad how many people will have to suffer before they realize the consequences of their ideology.

VICKEE| 12.9.12 @ 3:51PM

Obama is Godlike... The people "love " him (worship him)... I don't see a problem here, do you.....

Actually, because of Him getting back in office America is on her way down... To never rise again.

VICKEE| 12.9.12 @ 3:55PM

None of you seem worried. You act as if America is too strong to fail... She isn't.
We are so in debt that soon AmeriKa will belong to our debtors... And you know it, but don't seem to care.
Which of you idiots really voted Obama back in???

sheraton| 12.9.12 @ 5:00PM

I too am skeptical that Boehner would ever sue Harry Reid, but why can't we US citizens do this? Seriously?

With the cost of a soldier in Afghanistan at 1.4 mil per year blowing up rocks and capturing empty mountaintops-- tell me why it is such a good deal for We the People to pay for these activities.

JS Mill| 12.10.12 @ 11:16AM

So the Establishment (Republican side) can make a sh*tload as contractors over there.

None other than Oliver North was on an interview and discussed the Sequester and how it would affect "the Federal Contractors in Afghanistan, who outnumber our troops."

Horrors to cut them off....

factotum | 12.9.12 @ 9:02PM

I stoped reading when I came across this:
"The sloppiness in El Primo's thinking there is revealed by the phrase "the world's resources." But America in reality never consumed any of the world's production. It always only consumed 100% of America's production (including what it traded some of that production fo"r).

Which could only have been written by a person very ignorant of our trading practices that result in trillion dollar debts to China, or the fact that much of what we get from the rest of the world is by installing armed thugs to steal resources from the people of other countries and leave them in squalor.

Such a person is either ignorant, as I stated above, or a practicing lying psychopath with no regard for any statements that reflect the state of the physical world as most people know it. His words have zero value, and are one of the reasons that the republican party, and the idea of small government, have such a bad reputation. In fact, he acts like a fifth column for socialists.

And do not get me started on his name calling. The rhetorical technique of those who have neither logic nor facts to support their positions.

JS Mill| 12.10.12 @ 11:39AM

Um ... care to give some examples? Last time I checked, once I exchange a financial resource (money) for a physical resource, it become mine. Even your "armed thugs" SELL their countries' resources ... we don't just take them....
