A war on women that Lena Dunham clearly doesn’t understand — or she would be out there with her HBO friends making a television show about men who kill women in the name of Islam. If she — and HBO — had the courage.
The irony here?
The America that leftist women have such contempt for — the America that believes in a moral obligation to respect women, to make sure they have an education, read books, and have the opportunity to make videos and television shows to their hearts content — that America is sending its sons and daughters to protect those rights. To die for those rights.
It is exactly that America that sent Tyrone Woods to fight Ansar al-Sharia in Benghazi.
It is exactly that America that sent Tyrone Woods to fight Ansar al-Sharia in Benghazi so that Lena Dunham can sit at peace in Brooklyn with her tattoo and her sleeveless T-shirt and her wink-wink on-camera prattlings about first-times. So that Amanda Marcotte can play with her race cards at Slate.
It is exactly that America that sent Tyrone Woods to fight Ansar al-Sharia so Ms. Dunham can cut a commercial for a candidate who turned his back when an American son needed help fighting against deeply serious men who deeply hate women in ways that Lena Dunham clearly cannot begin to fathom.
Will HBO be doing a television show about Tyrone Woods? Will Lena Dunham be writing a TV show about Malala or the anonymous woman who was shot 9 times for allegedly committing adultery?

Late yesterday a friend emailed me and some others with the question: Where's Petraeus in all this? We know through a spokesperson that the CIA did not deny any support, but what exactly did the CIA do? Are they the ones who told their contractors at the annex not to assist those at the consulate? Who could have but did not provide support from assets off shore or at US bases in Italy? Who moved the drones in? Were assets deployed but then prevented from rendering aid?
What did the CIA know and when did it and its leader, Petraeus, know it?

Actually, it was just a cute, risque campaign ad. And besides being rather tame, it reflects a larger trend in America. For decades we have been using sex via TV, radio, magazines and the web to sell beer, cars, cologne, food, vacations and all other sorts of goods and services. Why shouldn't this logic apply to politics? Everything else has been made sexy.
It isn't just liberals who are partying, I might add. Go to conservative web sites, from FrontPageMag.com to Townhall.com to debbieschlussel.com, and you'll find all sorts of scantily clad ladies in provocative poses. You think I'm making this up? Corsets ads are now especially prominent -- not that I'm complaining.
As for the War on Women, some truly vile name-calling and comments on this site directed toward Ms. Dunham lead me to believe that it's very real.

America has grown a new plutocracy, based on gender and race. Reams of laws, including the Obama signed legislation known as the Lily Ledbetter Law, force jobs overseas and reduce opportunities for women. But facts mean nothing to the sponsors of gender and race based quotas.
In the meantime what will be the long term effects?
Will the white male still volunteer to protect a country which does little to protect him in the work place or in civil society as a whole?

Friday evening I had an opportunity to talk with the son of an acquaintance. The son is now a grad student at the Wharton School, having completed a term of several years of active duty (including a tour of Iraq) with the US Navy as a Seal. I asked what it was like for him to be in the protected world of academia with so many of his fellow students and professors never having been exposed to existence off campus (much less the rigors of special operations training, wartime service, combat, etc.).He advised me that he and the few fellow veterans on campus had shirts made up:

The military has lots of sweet, choice positions that their special interest groups can hold such as supply depot managers, base operations, etc. The actual guys who go and get shot at are a minority and comprise a fraction of the overall spending just as Washington DC is now shut down but this is acceptable since all the actual work recovering from the hurricane is being done by normal folks without federal government paychecks.

Interesting: Went through the whole thread, and so far not a word from any trolls. Of course, it could just be too early in the afternoon for them, but I think I'm seeing a pattern. They have no response for two kinds of posts: (1) the really detailed, closely argued number-crunchers, and (2) the more vivid moral portraits of a culture on the edge of collapse.

I’ve been observing the same phenomenon. The usual suspects like Purp, vtwin, canuckistani and Jack London have been making far fewer appearances recently. Apparently, MoveOn.org has been putting its money into videos of senior citizens using profanity rather than paying by the post. As a result, other than the occasional appearance of the amateur efforts of “Anna K. from Emory U.” and her students (and I guess it’s a Monday-Wednesday-Friday class this semester), we’ll need to be content to hear the lame left viewpoint from DRed and RCV.

To respectfully and slightly disagree with Jeffrey's excellent points, the Lenas of this world are mostly those who were DEAD UPON ARRIVAL into this world. Their parents [no sexual facilitators] made a mistake that resulted in her being born, did not give a rat's ars about her as a child, neglected her and her needs and she grew up to be this Lena. Her parents [?] have ignored her numerous boyfriends, bed-mates, one-night-stands/hookups in an attempt to obtain love and has believed in her partners' goodnesses/virtue before, during and after they have abondoned her; and have ignored her education and qualifications for financially supporting herself; have in cases abused her physcologically, sexually and emotionally. She has sought love/affection from rock etc music, drugs, pet animals, homosexual friends, etc. and accordingly is suseptible to the physchological manipulation of the radical, domestic terrorist politicians that use people like Lena for their own corrupted purposes. Lena is a droid, a drone, a puppet and Obama/Democrats are the puppetmasters; and not only do they pull the strings of the Lenas, but also those of African americans, Jews, Hispanics, women, etc; and the rest of us pay the price of same!!!!

PS: The Tyrones of this world are patriotic heroes who have givne their military services, their limbs, their lives to each and all of us in every war that this country has been engaged in. The Tyrones are this country, because with them, there would be no USA. When all of us enjoy our freedoms, see our children healthy and happy, walk inside our churches to pray, witness a rain shower nurturing a flower bed, etc; we should all realize that we are observing the Tyrones of this world who made same possible by their patriotisms and bravery. Sadly, didn't have to go too far to add to my observations posted earlier regarding the left's relentless pursuit to change our military. Found this article from Act for America site regarding discipline by CJofS Chairmen Dempsey to a Lt. Col. for teaching a course, "Islam and Islamic Radicalism" at the National Defense University that was deemed too negative towards Islam. 57 muslim organizations forced the military to agree to purge all training materials THEY deemed to be too negative toward Islam.
