1.7 million illegals suddenly added to job pool — but the unemployment rate drops?

So.
How can the addition of these 1.7 million new workers plunging into the already high pool of the unemployed in June — miraculously lower the unemployment rate by September?
Obviously, they can’t.
Not to get too graphic, but what happened when that tsunami hit the coastline of Japan a while back? Right. This happens.
Too much water suddenly surging inside the natural coastline caused — shocker — the water level to rise. Abruptly, water was abruptly flooding everywhere, tossing cars, buildings, and everything else every place else. A siren alarm goes off, a frantic voice is heard on a loud speaker as the water level rises — and rises and rises and rises.
Now take another look at those photos shown on ABC News and WMAQ. Those ABC photos and the WMAQ aerial shots are literally the equivalent of an unemployment tsunami suddenly hitting the United States.
Yet Americans are being asked to believe — seriously - that the Obama administration, having generated this human unemployment tsunami, has miraculously caused unemployment to drop?
Yes, they are being asked to believe just that. By no less than President Obama himself.
Right.
Just like the day that tsunami hit Japan and the water level dropped.
Pay no attention to those floating buildings and cars! Move along!
Stop. Stop, stop, STOP!
What did Jeremiah Wright say about Obama and truth telling?
We discussed the Reverend Jeremiah Wright in this space last week, focusing on his relationship with Obama. The Reverend Wright — on tape — told the following story to author Edward Klein of Barack Obama’s belief on telling the truth (in Klein’s bestselling book The Amateur: Barack Obama in the White House). The story revolved around Wright’s controversial taped sermons finally bursting into the media in 2008 — and a personal visit by Obama to convince Wright to stop speaking until the election was over. Wright refused (in spite of an offer of $150,000 through an intermediary). Wright recounted his story this way:
Barack said, “I’m sorry you don’t see it the way I do. Do you know what your problem is?’” And I said, “No, what’s my problem?” And he said, “You have to tell the truth.”

The Dow went up 35, that day. The other Exchanges all went Down.

I think the workers at Lockheed and the other defense contractors know that their job is on the line. They certainly do not need a piece of paper to tell them that defense will be cut, and their jobs with it. The union leadership may be able to attempt to cover for the empty chair, but the guys on the assembly line surely know.

I know, you know, every AmSpec reader knows he's a liar but how does permitting 1.7 million people to apply for work authorization relate to the historic drop in unemployment numbers?
How does this all tie together?
Are the 1.7 million people who applied for work authorization considered employed? ...unemployed?
How could their employment status affect the September monthly jobs report?
I can see why obama (the liar) would want to bring in 1.7 ACTUAL WORKERS to make the employment picture seem rosier but it's not clear that this does. Please explain.

The unemployment statistics touted by the regime utilize the U3 reference point. There are six categories and the U3 eliminates the discouraged unemployed who have given up looking for work (U4), the marginally attached who would like to work (U5) and the part-time workers who would like to work full-time (U6). The unemployment rate is calculated by dividing the unemployed workers by the total work force.
Jimmy Pethokoukis at Reuters calculates that if the same number of jobs is assumed in May as when Obama took office in January 2009, the real U3 unemployment rate was 10.9%. http://blog.american.com/2012/.....-aint-8-2/
The statistical illusion is created as the universe of jobs continually declines. On February 12, 2012; Rick Santelli of CNBC reported that the Department of Labor Statistics unemployment rate reached 8.3% by eliminating 1.2M jobs from the Labor Force Participation Rate since 2009. University of Maryland Economics Professor Peter Morici just reported that the unemployment rate dropped to 8.1% because the Labor Rate Participation rate was reduced by another 522,000 jobs http://newsbusters.org/blogs/j.....obs-search

About a month ago when it dropped from 8.3% to 8.1%, another 368K or so jobs were removed from the Labor Participation Rate. So we are now at some 2M to 2.5M who worked in January 2009 who are no longer counted as unemployed in the U3 number while the U6 number remains at 14.7%.
There are also internals in any statistical model that use the samples and extrapolate the assumptions to the entire population. They did a Household Survey that they alleged undercounted the employment since people supposedly found jobs and were not reported. So this poll of usually 5K alleged that the old model was undercounting and they made a one-time adjustment to the assumptions. This is another statistical trick.
In Financial Accounting, one is not allowed under FASB Rules to change income recognition or depreciation methods at a whim since companies would be able to manipulate their numbers avoiding taxes and defrauding investors. But this is exactly what BLS does constantly to falsify the numbers.

The BLS could have added the 1.7M or some fraction of that as 100% employed since the assumption was that they MUST have a job or they are in school and not counted. It is hard to know what they did the numbers are so fake and phony.
Technically, Bob, I suspect that if the socialist nationalize every industry as they have done with Dodd Frank in banking, ObamaCare for health care, GM and student loans; then they determine how many jobs are available as the sole employer.
They could potentially tell everyone without a job to register with the employment office and they can give them a new welfare job of blogging, helping a neighbor, categorize stay-at-home-mom as an official job, etc.....in which case the unemployment number would be zero while we starve and freeze in our homes.
The most important number is GDP growth, Bob. If you dig a hole and I fill it in while Bernanke prints dollars for us, no wealth is created. We get no new fuel, food, shelter, property or entertainment but simply bid up prices continually on existing wealth. This is truly the zero sum game they already created.

During and after WW1, European immigration to America came to a virtual standstill. Suddenly, northern jobs were open to southern blacks. Hence began the great migration of blacks out of Jim Crow land into northern cities.
Mass immigration of foreigners into this country (vis-a-vis moderate immigration) is criminal. Such immigration, whether legal or illegal, induces massive cultural and political changes, and even worse, takes badly needed jobs away from poor Americans, especially black Americans.
Apparently, Obama has not listened enough to his labor union pals -- and need I add that labor unions rose in the 19th century mainly as a way to protect American workers from cheap foreign labor? Maybe he should; they could tell him a thing or two about the harm of mass immigration, or the introduction of masses of illegals into a desparate job market.

I’d say that lying, and getting away with it, is the prime job requirement for those who work in the political “trade”. You wouldn’t hire someone who couldn’t hammer a nail to be a carpenter.
I’d also say that one of the essential aspects of most liberals is that they consider themselves to be sophisticated, whereas their conservative opponents seem naïve to them. The atheists among them surely think bible bangers are fools, for an extreme example of this.
So, not only is it not news to them that Obama lies---even egregiously--- but lots of them say---RIGHT ON!
And, then along came Jones----Mitt Romney.
Perhaps one of the reasons Republicans tend to be “stupid” is that, compared to their amoral opposites, they are somewhat “reluctant warriors” in political wars. That is, they aren’t politicians first, last and always, like liberals are.

The BLS numbers MAY be accurate - in the strickest interpretation - WHY they can do this is info everyone should know to prevent it in the future. Democrats needed to provide Bill Clinton cover for his tax increase - 1993. So, Democrats wrote a new law that enabled the BLS to stop counting people no longer on their roles. These are people who stopped looking for work, exhausted their benefits, or work part-time. This change impacted the U-3 report- the U-3 is the most published BLS report. The U-6 report shows near 15% unemployment. The real average is in between - around 11%. True unemployment is the U-6 report that sums all unemployment and only slightly adjusts the "seasonal variables" = fudge factor. Politicians want this flexibility in reporting unemployment. This is why Bush did nothing when he could have. The U-3 must be returned to it's pre-1993 calculations for us to know how bad unemployment is.

I believe blacks are too emotional rather than practical when they look at Obama. There must be some underlying feeling that having a black President gives them something they have deserved since the Civil War slavery problem
and the MLKing Civil Rights movement.
I think the race relations is having a negative effect even more now with the high unemployment of blacks. The growing Latin population is not helping either.
I believe Romney has a better business/economic approach to trying to fix Obama' crisis

TLP you are right about the jobs. There are anywhere from 500,000 to 1,000,000 pink slips that should be going out. The Obama administration began strong-arming all defense contractors in May/June of this year. Most of the notices were prepared by the end of June. Most of these "layoffs" are in swing states. Virginia, Ohio, Colorado, New Mexico and the less swing states of Arizona and California. Not only will all of these people loose their jobs but so will the small business in the areas that exist because of these people. John McCain is all to well aware of these pending layoffs and is trying to move the sequestration deadline down the road. But if obama is reelected they will still be terminated because of Obamas hatred for the defense industry.
These people need to wake up and see that by supporting Obama they are supporting their own demise! These are hugh numbers of layoffs and congress (the peoples representatives) should be screaming to high heavens. The people that work for these defense contractors (Lockhead, Boeing, Raytheon, etc..- there are many contractors) should be screaming to their representatives and their human resource departments. The only reason Lockhead made it in the news is because their CEO is new and has been thrown into this mess.

What do you want to bet dollars to doughnuts that alot of those individuals are undocumented workers, who, for various reasons, work at landscaping, babysitting, food service, etc., where they can get away with being paid in cash (which is not illegal, but without any paper trails.) So, in essence, those jobs can now be counted as "new jobs created" at least by NerObama's BLS (or BS) standards.
