How can any cogent American citizen possibly even consider
voting for Barack Obama now? That’s what lots of conservatives and
moderates are asking each other, again and again. It’s completely
baffling, to those who grew up with any sort of sense of what
America means and what the American character traditionally has
been, that anybody can look at the man’s record and want more of
the same.
Almost the entirety of the Muslim world is now rioting against
an American president who promised that his olive branches to
Muslims would secure peace. Like Jimmy Carter, Obama has only shown
a weakness that has emboldened the Islamist haters. Meanwhile, our
closest ally in the region, Israel, a stable representative
democracy led by an American-educated, America-loving prime
minister, has repeatedly been insulted, abandoned, and undermined.
In short, the United States is in worse position with all
sides in the Middle East/northern Africa. We are
embarrassed, feckless, wounded… and in four tragic cases,
dead.
Allies in Poland and the Czech Republic have been repeatedly let
down and sometimes insulted. The “re-set” with Russia earned us
only Russian contempt. China and Russia ignore our entreaties
around the world, with absolute disdain for our wishes, our olive
branches, or Obama’s supposedly Nobel-worthy and messianic genius
for diplomacy.
Domestically, our debt has increased by 50 percent in just four
years, by some $5 trillion, with not a single observable benefit
from the spending. Our bond rating already has been downgraded by
one agency, and another major agency threatens to downgrade us. Our
unemployment rate has never been beneath 8 percent since Obama’s
first month in office, even though his economic team said his
outrageously expensive “stimulus” package would ensure that it
would never rise above 8 percent, and indeed that it would drop
below 6 percent within four years.
Our politics is more fractured, less civil, than ever — and as
Bob Woodward, of all people, indicates in his new book, this is
largely the fault of Obama. He has been the first president in
history to push through a major new program without a single vote
from the opposing party — and while refusing to incorporate a
single major idea from the other party, while ignoring overwhelming
public sentiment to pass it, and while bending the rules in
multiple ways to force it through Congress. Meanwhile, on the real
business of Congress, his Senate allies have ignored longstanding
law by refusing to pass a budget for three years now, while twice
rejecting the president’s own pitiful budget proposal by
unanimous votes.
Obama campaigned with a promise to rein in abuses of executive
power, but instead he increasingly rules by executive decrees of
dubious constitutionality. Congress won’t pass cap-and-trade, so he
orders it anyway. Congress won’t pass amnesty for illegal
immigrants, so he orders it anyway. Congress won’t undermine the
work requirement in the welfare system, so he guts the work
requirements by executive order. And on and on go the abuses.
His Justice Department is flagrantly corrupt and racialist. It
told a black majority town in North Carolina that it could not hold
nonpartisan elections because voters would fail to elect
the black “candidates of choice” if the candidate weren’t
identified as Democrats. It intervened against the heroic Fire
Department of New York to push racial hiring quotas on the
department so outrageous that it would force admittance into the
fire academy of candidates who missed as many as 70 percent (!!!)
of the questions on a simple entrance exam; and, in blocking all
applicants expected to be hired under the previous exam, it
prohibited a number of black applicants who actually had met
standards from being hired. So outrageous was this abuse that even
the leftist Village Voice ran a long feature story taking
up for the qualified black applicants whose chances for employment
were dashed.
And, of course, DoJ ran an idiotic gun-running program on the
Mexican border that led to the deaths of two American agents and
countless Mexicans while drawing a rebuke from the Mexican
ambassador, and then covered up and even lied about its actions.
Also, infamously, it dropped already-won cases against New Black
Panther thugs for flagrant voter-intimidation outside a
Philadelphia polling place in 2008 — dropped the cases, indeed,
just in time, meaning four days in advance, for one of those thugs
again to serve as an official Democratic Party poll-watcher in
municipal elections in 2009.
Gasoline prices are twice what they were when Obama took office
— and rising again. The housing market remains in the doldrums.
Food stamp use is by far at the highest level in history, and
poverty is markedly up. Food prices are markedly higher. Small
businesses are jettisoning the health-insurance benefits they
offered employees until Obamacare made it prohibitively expensive.
Doctors are retiring in record numbers rather than face Obamacare’s
scourges — and most of the law hasn’t yet taken effect. Coming
soon are new taxes on medical device manufacturers: Patients will
pay more for wheelchairs, prosthetics, insulin pumps, asthma
inhalers, pacemakers, and other essential fruits of modern medical
technology.
Taxpayers are on the hook for huge losses from the auto
bailouts, even as most of GM’s new jobs have been created overseas
rather than here, and even as auto dealerships across the nation
were shut down by administration fiat on political bases rather
than on the basis of which ones were profitable. Taxpayers are on
the hook for politically inspired “investments” to Obama cronies in
failing businesses such as Solyndra. Taxpayers are on the hook for
higher electricity prices due to a backdoor cap-and-trade scheme
imposed by (illegal) administrative fiat.
Religious liberties, meanwhile, are under repeated and sustained
attacked from an administration openly hostile to traditional
faith. And the president even refuses to defend in federal court
laws duly passed by Congress and signed by former President
Clinton.
The parade of abuses, incompetencies, extravagances, and
illegalities goes on and on. The record of improvements in any
sector of American life is… well, nil. Nothing is better, not a
single thing, at home or abroad. And Obama has offered no
recognizable plans, no new proposals, no substance at all, for
making things better in a second term.
This presidency is a disaster. Reasonable people are gobsmacked
at the possibility that it could somehow be allowed to continue its
degradations of American society.

An honest analysis shows the Obama administration has been a miserable failure. But an honest analysis is not done by the media and branded as "racist" by Obama's minions. I'd like to believe the vast majority of American voters know better. We'll see what happens come November (any margin has to be large enough to overcome the vote fraud I know will occur).

The Bible predicted that the Anti-Christ would come: " And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendor of his coming.
The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with the work of Satan displayed in all kinds of counterfeit miracles, signs and wonders,
and in every sort of evil that deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.
For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie
and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.

My college campus minister, who was a Hebrew and Greek scholar, said one time that the word translated as Satan could be better translated as "The Confuser". I find that interesting and possibly relevant here.
By the way, my good friend's elderly mother said that she thought that Obama was the Anti-Christ before he was elected. It gave me the chills as I sort of felt the same way.

Sept. 19th: Excellent review of Obama's presidency but the mainstream media will continue to prop up the empty suit Obama so we should cut and past this article onto every blog site and paste it into comment space in main stream media internet sites...people just aren't thinking when they say they'll vote again for Obama...why??? a mystery.
Mike G| 9.19.12 @ 10:39AM
Why people don't think isn't really a mystery. They don't think because it involves a sustained effort of the mind, and that is very difficult to do when one has become accustomed to the 6 second sound bites we get from the media. It's much easier to just sit in front of a TV without thinking.

It's nothing short of phenomenal just what this political ghost has done to almost dismantle the American empire. It helps a lot that the electorate has been split, politically polarized, dumbed down and morally weakened when compared to even their recent ancestors. But the attack seems to cover all bases in the attempt to subvert, make useless and replace many of our long established practices and traditions, with nary a peep from the "loyal" opposition. If you want to know just how some ancient civilizations were able to suddenly disappear, leaving not so much leaving a trace of their wherabouts, I suspect that it might have started something like this.
I've commented elsewhere on this site that I think the process has had considerable outside help, but were we so tenuously in possession of our ideals that they could crumble in less than a generation? The jury's still out on that.

And since Obama can't seem to get his act together, and never will, just lie. Now I know Obama comes from a long list of liars. There's his mother, his father (which ever one), his grandparents, Bill Ayers, the Reverend from Chicago, and so, but what's more interesting is I haven't seen a president who didn't stretch the truth to suit their needs, but Obama just plainly lies. The media won't even do the simplest of vetting of Obama. Most Americans still don't even know he's a smoker. Would say "was" but the admission he quit seems to be another lie. Now, I'm not even saying smoking is necessarily bad, what I'm pointing out is the fact its a pretty obvious fact about someone. For the American people (other than political junkies) to not even know this requires more than just oversight and neglect by the media - it requires active suppression. That is just one small example. The other is his pothead days. Without blogs and small conservative outlets NO ONE would know Obama was a "choom master" in his youth. Unfortunately, most of the American people still don't know. They are too busy working and taking care of their families and the MSM all around them won't cover it.

The suckers, saps, and morons that are voting for Obama are not realizing that Obama is a one-trick pony. While he is a master of rhetoric he is a colossal failure in actually manifesting anything positive that he can campaign on. Which is why he must try to convince us that Romney is evil personified. We actually have a man running for President of the United States that is begging the electorate for four more years in office, so that he can continue his reign of destruction. The fact that the failure Obama is anywhere close in the polls is that we have a population that has become balkanized, no longer considering themselves Americans, but members of this group or that group. America has remained free and prosperous for a long period of time due to a set of values that have paved the way to success. It’s easy to understand why Obama still gets a stable 47% or so approval.
He’s black.
The depredations you list ARE devastating. But, consider his base.
With over 90% approval by blacks, he gets an automatic 16%. That leaves a mere 30% or so. Can you say “totally uninformed hard core Democrats”?
Who would have thought that putatively electing a black man to purge us of the sin of slavery would result in so much trouble? Just proves that the world always bites, and BITES BACK. Karma.
Perhaps that’s the simple reason the race appears to be so tight.
When one guy automatically has 16% of the voters always locked up, no matter what he does, do the math. His opponent needs 51 out of the remaining 84, or 61%!
Also, there exist more robotic voters in the Hispanic cohort, who know nothing about the troubles Obama has brought.
However, it’s probably NOT just the racial crap, but the utter ignorance and willful blindness of Obama supporters that makes the difference.
Opinions and facts always fight. Eventually, reality either affirms or negates one’s opinion.
May facts win, this time!

Here’s a brief recap of some of the media assertions, delivered with great certitude, which proved to be dead wrong.
1. Romneycare would prevent Mitt Romney from getting the nomination.
2. Romneycare would prevent Romney from making an argument against Obamacare.
3. Texas Gov. Rick Perry was a sure thing.
4. The GOP would pick a tea party favorite as its nominee.
5. Romney’s $10,000 “bet” in a primary debate was going to wreck his campaign.
6. Romney adviser Eric Fehrnstrom’s “Etch-a-sketch” remark was going to kill Romney’s chances.
7. Romney’s remark about owning two Cadillacs was going to doom him in Michigan.
8. Romney’s comment that he was most concerned about the middle class and not the very poor who have a safety net, which may need fixing, was going to cripple him.
9. Romney’s Bain experience would kill his campaign.
10. Romney’s foreign trip would kill his campaign.
11. Romney would have to release more than two years of his tax returns.
12. Romney’s remarks on the embassy attacks were the most important issue and would kill his campaign.

13. The Democratic National Convention bounce for President Obama was meaningful.
14. Clint Eastwood was a disaster.
15. Picking Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) as a VP was a mistake
You do have to wonder if anything the media have propounded as political wisdom has been right. No one gets everything right in a campaign, but if a pundit or reporter got most of these wrong, why pay any attention?

I don't. Unfortunately too many get their news from Bill Maher and Jon Stewart...and believe everything coming out of their swarmy mouths.
The truth beknown is America is ill...very ill. Our culture is as corrupt as the politics. Not only do we have million on food stamps, few of them have any shame, and the left wishes to remove the stigma. Can you believe credit cards at fast food resturants now?
When anything goes, everything's gone.

Fear is an impediment to critical thinking, as this site exemplifies. Bush led us into the biggest economic disaster since the great depression, and while the recovery has been slow, 30 straight months of job growth is obviously a good thing. And some of us have access to health care we didn't have before. The US has a powerful auto industry again, and car companies are paying back the government. You are every bit as free as you were four years ago, but with a bit less economic uncertainty hanging over your head. Obama is an average/good president, and quite centrist. I recommend you get out more.

Does anyone wonder why Obama will be reelected. This moron thinks the Marxist in chief is a centrist. You know the guy who hates everything about capitalism, freedom and liberty.
The US auto industry sucks, and even GM wants the government to be gone. They don't like being called "government Motors". Be willing to bet "themillenials" has never read the Constitution and has little knowledge of checks and balances. After all, Maobama thinks he's the emperor and finds Congress to be an impediment to his desire to be King of the World.
Wonder what little surprise(s) Ozero has for us after the election. You know, the little whisper to Medvedev to be passed to Putin?
Economic uncertainty?? The dollar is almost worthless and we owe over $16T to China and the Fed. Yep, great we are indebt to the banks of the world. And you numbskull? You think you're free? God help you. Oh, I'm sure you don't believe in God either...how about the tooth fairy?
Anthony| 9.19.12 @ 4:43PM
56 consecutive months of over 8% unemployment. Where the hell did you get the 30 straight months of job growth? G. M. wants out of the bailout, Obozo said NO.
Man, you be a serious crack smoker.
Conservative Bob| 9.19.12 @ 4:52PM
The US has a powerful auto industry again... that is news. GM will never pay back the government nor will its subsidiary financial services arm which got money from TARP. The value of the stock would have to increase 400% for the tax payer to break even. The Volt loses about 49K per sale and has halted production. GM’s market share and Chrysler’s market share continue to decline.
As to freedom a fool who made a stupid movie was taken into custody in the middle of the night for the high crime of expressing his opinion. The Gallop agency published polls that the administration didn't like and found itself in federal court. Gibson Guitars was punished because its CEO gave money to the wrong political candidates. The government is now free to compel us to buy or do anything it wants without limit so long as it is called a tax.
My suggestion is that you loosen you belt take you head out of your ass and take a look around.

Excellent accumulation of facts of the last four, but I remain somewhat depressed. Do the American people GET IT [which they failed to do pre 11/4/08]? It's now being reported on Braitbart that there were no US military guards at the Libyian embassy where four diplomatic personnel were killed, and that the Secty of State signed off on the employment of a private security firm for same who's contracted demanded NO BULLETS be used by same. Also the result of TAS's notification of a Alabama statewide referendum concerning the application of its rainy-day funds to pay for general fund expenses resulted in a 65% to 35% approval of same. Where is the outrage? People still don't GET IT and the extreme possibility is that this POTUS and his fellow Democrats will not be defeated in November. When will America WAKE UP [and will it been too late when/if it does occur]?????????
Kwan| 9.19.12 @ 3:34PM
If this is true the election is already over.
1.) The Obama Government has outsourced the counting of votes for the 2012 election. But since WHEN does the nation need to outsource a task as uncomplicated and straightforward as vote-counting?
2.) Obama outsorced the counting to a Tampa Florida company, named SOE, that had previously been used to administer the vote counting process for over 500 American jurisdictions.
3.) But recently, SOE software has now been sold to a company named SCYTL, owned by George Soros, headquartered in Spain.
4.) The votes will go to SCYTL, the question becomes as to WHY Must local votes for each precinct will be downloaded to SCYTL’s main server – leaving no TRACEABLE record of how many, and what votes were scored! Which of course means that said votes will be MERGED; and any discrepancies at lower levels will be IMPOSSIBLE to track.
5.) But wait, it gets murkier: SCYTL is shadow owned by Pere Valles, a former CEO of Global Net; who just HAPPENS to have been a maximum level contributor to the Obama Campaign in 2008. Not surprisingly, Valles is also has contacts with Media Matters, a communication consortium owned by: George Soros.
FBX1999| 9.19.12 @ 3:38PM
All this talk of Obama being a "failure." He's NOT a failure. He is doing exactly what GatesBuffetSoros hired him to do - bring down the United States and thus the rest of the world so that a one-world oligarchy can be imposed on the survivors from the ashes. If you look at all that he has done from this perspective, he's been extremely successful.
World economy on the brink, Middle East about to go nuclear, race war on the horizon in the USA - it's all good! (If you're a deluded Lefty or uber-rich oligarch - for the rest of us, not so good).
Ronsch| 9.19.12 @ 4:45PM
And in today's news....DOJ's IG has decided that Eric Holder knew nothing (despite emails to the contrary) about F&F until February 2012!

And, while no one is watching, the MSM feeds the masses polls which are skewed and show Obama winning. Now, why would that be? Nah, it couldn't possibly be to mislead the takers into thinking that when Obama is defeated, that it must have been some sort of malfeasance on the part of 'them'. Just watch boys and girls. The middle-east is coming to a neighborhood near you. I know, I know, it could never happen here. But, don't doubt me, it's coming and it will be here before you can say, "Forward."

MTB| 9.19.12 @ 7:30PM
When the President of the United States says, "We can't wait for Congress," that's not a Republic, that's a dictatorship. There have been many instances of high crimes and misdemeanors that should have resulted in impeachment and expulsion, but the Democrats in high office no longer have any morals or scruples. It's all about the party and for the party, not the country. As many Democrats as possible must be voted out this and every future election until the party has been rendered moot.
Tafuna| 9.19.12 @ 8:56PM
The entire Obama presidency should be declared a disaster zone. Compared to the damage that say Hurricane Katrina wrought, Obama has created far worse in that he has not damaged one area but the entire country. It won't easily be repaired either. Like the damage Jimmy Carter did this nation, it will take many years to fix, and some of it irrepairable. Let us not forget that the Iranian crisis that festers today and the problems we are having throughout the Mid East all hark back to Carter's clumsy foreign policy in which he surrendered Iran to the fanatics.
KennesawJack| 9.19.12 @ 10:30PM
Quin, Did you dump my post?
Fiscal| 9.19.12 @ 11:49PM
There are always at least two sides to a story and Quin's "analysis" is simply skewed by a lack of objectivity.
1. It isn't ALL of the Muslim world rioting, it is a small group of extreme terrorists with cells in a number countries. That's why it's called asynchronous warfare.
2. It is the Bush administration that set the course for Eastern Europe. While it's true Obama hasn't improved our relations with countries like Russia, I am not convinced that any President could have changed the course.
3. The increase in debt is directly related to permanent increases in entitlements, the military, and interest expense. The biggest increase in entitlements is due to the unfunded prescription drug plan and retirement of baby boomers -- neither of which is due to Obama. It wasn't Obama that got us into two unfunded and undeclared wars. In addition, we have reduced revenues due to the Bush tax cuts which as not resulted in significant GDP growth.
4. We were losing jobs when Obama took office and we are gaining jobs now. Most of the jobs lost were federal and local government jobs. Ironically, under Obama, there has been a decline in the TOTAL number government jobs -- something we want...
See next post...
Fiscal| 9.19.12 @ 11:54PM
5. The month before Obama took office, Republicans agreed not to support anything Obama wanted whether or not it was good for the country because their primary goal was getting rid of him. They have been successful at making government more fractured than ever.
I could go on, but there is another side of the story for those who are not glued to Fox News. The public IS smart enough to understand both sides and agree more with these points than Quin's. The real problem with Obama is not the skewed views of the right, but the fact that he has not put forth a real solution to our problems. That's the reason we should be supporting Romney, because we need more than a "country coordinator" in the White House, we need a leader.
If there was anyone objective and competent in the Romney campaign, they would put forth specific plans to solve these issues and show that Obama doesn't have any answers. Convincing people with highly skewed "facts" is a really stupid approach.
rjh| 9.20.12 @ 8:31AM
You are absolutely correct. There are two sides to everything, and obama consistently comes down on the wrong one. P.S. I do not watch Fox News.
Fiscal| 9.20.12 @ 9:12AM
Really? Continuing the Bush tax cuts? Was that wrong? Getting Osama - was that wrong? Putting more troops in Afghanistan -- was that wrong? You really can't make that argument objectively. The only way you can make that argument is ideologically -- and that is not convincing to someone with a different ideology. Like most people in this country, I'm fiscally conservative but socially moderate (i.e., more libertarian). So your social conservative arguments will fall on deaf ears to most of us.
rjh| 9.20.12 @ 12:16PM
I am so sorry, I did not realize that you were the spokesman for "most of us". As far as "trying to convince" someone of a different ideology, I will not waste my time. The Marxism being peddled by obama and the Dems needs to be defeated...they will not be convinced by any argument. As for the rest of your post: obama did not have any choice on the matter of extending the Bush tax RATES, any President or citizen with a room temperature IQ would have given the order to get Bin Laden (and they would not have postponed the decision as obama/Jarret did), and how's that Afghanistan thing working out...our "allies" are killing more of our troops than the enemy...smart diplomacy huh?
Laura| 9.20.12 @ 3:49PM
I am a Democrat but I always try to get different perspectives on the issues. I can honestly say after reading these comments that there are just as many right-wing nuts as I thought. Obama as the Anti-Christ? Really? Pure Evil? You are a bunch of wackos!
spike59| 9.21.12 @ 6:25AM
No, Laura, we really DON'T believe that ObaMao is the Antichrist; mainly because the Antichrist wouldn't be so utterly and totally incompetent and clueless...as for evil? that's debatable, although i can't find much evidence that this vainglorious and childish blowhard is in any way a 'good person'; actually, he's a jerk.

E B | 9.21.12 @ 10:50AM
Ah, but we conservative know the answer to that question. People don't distrust the media yet. It is conservatives' job to inform these people, along these lines:
How many anti-Obama headlines have you seen compared to anti-Romney ones? It doesn't say so much about the two men as it does about the bias of those writing about them. And why are most polls weighted unrealistically for Democrats, above even 2008 levels which haven't been that high since then? You have to read both sides for balanced coverage because it doesn't exist in one place and both sides leave stuff out. How can you make an informed opinion on any topic if you rely on one point of view? You can't. Thanks for listening.

What a bunch of simplistic, unsubstantiated arguments! "Almost the entirety of the Muslim world is now rioting against an American president who promised that his olive branches to Muslims would secure peace." - where is the proof of that statement?
Here's another one that is especially silly: "Religious liberties, meanwhile, are under repeated and sustained attacked from an administration openly hostile to traditional faith."
And oh, you asked for ONE thing that has improved under President Obama: Dow Jones Avg. 1/20/2009 = ~7,900; Dow Jones 9/20/2009 = ~13,600 or over a 70% bump.
How do such obvious propagandists become "senior fellows"?

Wow, what an article. And pretty amazing set of comments.
Name one thing? ok, the most obvious. Bin Laden is dead. Oh, right -- Obama had nothing to do with it. Anyone could have given that order, or maybe Romney somehow did it, or George W. Bush. Except they didn't. Obama did.
Another thing? General Motors is alive. Sure, you can argue about that. But it is alive. And the stock market is about double where it was in Nov 2008: check out your 401K. And let's not start on the people who now get health insurance thanks to the new rules who could not before. And so on.
Seems Mr Hillyer, and most of his readers, belong to the imaginary universe described by Joe Klein in http://www.time.com/time/magaz.....7,00.html. You know that universe. Where Obama was born in Kenya, has a secret agenda to Destroy America (thank you, Dinesh D'Souza), planned Fast and Furious as a cunning plot to subvert the gunlaws.
Come on. Grow up. Join the real world. There is some excuse for Quin Hellyer, who we can guess is being paid to spout this rubbish. But there is no excuse for anyone else.
Bob Doll| 9.21.12 @ 2:20PM
Name a single thing that's improved under his Presidency? Easy.....
(1) Heath care reform which is enabling millions to get medical care.
(2) Ending the disastrous wars in Iran and Afghanistan.
(3) Helping to removing Muammar Gaddafi from power in Libya without a single US death.
(4) Lowering taxes for millions of Americans.
(5) Killing Osama bin Laden.
(6) Ensuring the survival of General Motors and the US auto industry.
(7) Passed tougher regulations on Wall Street firms that contributed to the 2008 financial meltdown.
(8) Passed the economic stimulus package in face of the 2008 financial meltdown and lessened the severity of the recession.
(9) Repealed the Don't Ask Don't Tell policy that discriminated against gay and lesbian service members.
(10) Improved US reputation and standing abroad by disavowing the previous administration's "with us or against us" approach to diplomacy.
That was easy. And it's why the President will be reelected in November.

I know right? And how 'bout that the stock market is only up100% since he took office. How high should it have gone under McCain Palin? And how about that second and thrid bullets his defense department used on Bin Laden when it only should have taken one? And even though we aren't on the brink of economic collapse as we were in Nov 2008, why aren't we soooo much better off? Why couldn't he have done more despite a Congress who was rooting for him and the Country to fail? Right on Quinn. You keep writing it, and I'll support you, but I'll leave all that high level anti-Christ stuff for the real intellecutals on this site.
Arimathean | 9.26.12 @ 1:54AM
The cause of the rise in the stock market is the same as the cause of the housing bubble five years ago: loose money from the Fed. And it could end the same way - with the bursting of the bubble and the crash of the stock market. I think the current level of stock prices is unsustainable - that's why I've sold half of my stocks in the past two weeks.
