A few notes on the final night of the Democratic National
Convention:
1.) Why is anyone at all surprised that Michelle Obama, Joe
Biden, and Bill Clinton praised President Barack Obama? Why did the
NBC anchors tear up over Biden praising his boss and Michelle
lauding her hubby. They are his family, his political cronies, his
buddies. They sup at his table. Why is it impressive that they
praise him and look deeply moved at the mention of his name?
2.) The GOP made a big mistake at the convention not paying
homage in a huge way to the military and their families. The
Democrats drove a truck right through that hole and the Republicans
got run over by it.
3.) Mr. Obama made much of the truth that the USA is producing a
lot more energy from oil and gas domestically now compared with
some years ago. But he gives no credit at all to the oil companies
and the gas companies that made that possible. In fact, he
endlessly damns them. What sad hypocrisy.
4.) Did anyone but me notice how when Mr. Obama said he would
not allow the Iran regime to get a nuclear weapon, there was no
cheering in the hall? Did anyone notice no cheering for his support
of Israel? This was a highly pro-Arab, anti-Israel group in
Charlotte. Pro-Israel voters be warned. This is the future.
5.) Did anyone notice that essentially every single promise that
Mr. Obama made boiled down to, “I’m going to give you something for
nothing and the rich people are going to pay for it?” A person
close to me said the Obama narrative boils down to, “I’m going to
give every last one of you forty acres and a mule,” but that might
go too far. Or maybe not.
In that same vein, did anyone notice that Mr. Obama promised
every single thing he promised in 2008 — more education, more
research, more “clean energy,” more jobs, more housing, higher
taxes on the rich —and that we are expected to believe he’ll
deliver this time. Why? Why would we believe that? Did anyone
notice how he played games about the military budget? First, he
orders them to ask for very little, much less than they need. Then
he damns Romney for saying they should get more. It played well
with that anti-military crowd, though.
6.) I was on a show with the famed pollster, Jonathan Zogby. He
said that if the black vote were split evenly, instead of going 95%
to Obama, Romney would win in a landslide. The ethnic bloc vote is
extremely serious and important.
7.) On to the debates and let’s hope Mr. Romney can find his
emotions and some specifics and bring them to bear. Beating Mr.
Obama, with his 95% support in the black community, 80% support in
the gay community — that is not going to be easy. It may not even
be possible. It is a new America.
Jack in Wi| 9.7.12 @ 6:42AM
Obama will get a huge majority of the Muslim, Christian Arab, and the Jewish vote. If the Republicans had a saner and more balanced policy in the Middle East, like GHWBush, they would get a majority of the Arab Christian and Muslim vote in this country. It is as big or bigger then the elderly and declining Jewish vote. We are never going to get many Jews to vote for us because liberalism runs in their blood.
The groveling of both the Democrats and Republicans before the Zionist lobby was disgraceful to watch.
When the hell are we going to put this country and it's service people first? They are sick to death of fighting and dying in the Middle East for lies and nonsense. If you really wanted to honor these brave people you would bring them home to their families and let the Middle East solve it's own problems. Ron Paul got far more financial support from the military and their families then all the other candidates combined, including Obama. The people by vast majorities, in polling, want nothing to do with another war. For once lets give the people what want.
Aristocat| 9.7.12 @ 8:30AM
They booed God and cheered Sondra the Slut,
Billy the Rapist, Minnie the Moocher, Castro the Commie, and Bammy the Muslim.
Lyneuss Fields | 9.7.12 @ 11:47AM
Ah shucks! It's so sad Republicans don't have a viable candidate to run against President Obama. Let me be candid and speak about this Romney character. As an 8-year-old child, I was baptized into the LDS religion. It was shortly after that, in the early sixties, that I began to hear the stories. You all know about these stories, don't you? People with flat noses and black skin having the curse of Cain. Oh, and did you hear about those black people also being bad warriors in heaven—on and on and on! This information wasn't available when I was a child in the 50s—now, in the 21st century, it's all over the internet and from much more credible sources than just little old me. Is it any surprise there is so much racism in the Republican platform, and that Romney lacks the ability to garner any support for African Americans? This is just such a sad case for Republicans!
http://lyneussfields.blogspot......-hoax.html
Appleby| 9.7.12 @ 4:09PM
The Mormons have been ordered by God -- shortly before a massive class action lawsuit was to be launched, as I recall -- to stop that kind of talk immediately and to oncet. They have a lot of strange ideas to answer for, but that one has been relegated to the dustbin of history.
Lyneuss Fields | 9.7.12 @ 5:43PM
Please believe me Appleby when I tell you there are few things more damaging to the psyche and mental health of a 15-year-old child when they are held down and urinated on (onto the head and face) by pissed-off Cedar City, Utah cowboys because of wearing sandals to school in 1967. This trauma has followed me for my entire life.
How could the media allow Romney to escape responsibility for-likewise- having his friends hold down a young boy and by force, take an electric razor to his hair? Oh I forgot! His father was the Governor of Michigan.

mzk| 9.9.12 @ 12:02PM
"there is so much racism in the Republican platform"
You've just lost any chance of convincing anyone.
RCV| 9.7.12 @ 12:04PM
At least we didn't throw peanuts and slurs at black reporters at our convention...
John Navratil| 9.7.12 @ 12:35PM
RCV,
And was promptly booted out, you might add.
Nick| 9.7.12 @ 1:00PM
And, she was a cameraman, not a reporter, RCV. For CNN.
Which is the more likely reason she was treated so badly.
RCV| 9.7.12 @ 2:41PM
Unlikely given the context.
Nick| 9.7.12 @ 3:44PM
What context would that be, RCV?
Since neither of us were there, and no video exists that I know of, attributing racist motives to those involved would be very uncharitable, would it not?
You don't want to be guilty of the sin of calumny, do you?
You did get the poor lady's occupation wrong, remember?
RCV| 9.7.12 @ 4:31PM
The context, Nick, was throwing peanuts and shouting, "this is how we feed animals." Maybe that's not enough for you, but it convinced me and the RNC.
Nick| 9.7.12 @ 5:00PM
As a lawyer, RCV, you must admit that this is pretty thin evidence, is it not?
As a conservative, I can assure you, it is far more likely that it was because she was working for CNN, not the color of her skin. CNN & MSLSD are both liberal propaganda outfits to us conservatives.
And, you haven't addressed Mr. Navratil's point, at all: The offending delegates were promptly evicted from the convention.
Were the democrats who called Romney & Republicans "Nazis" booted from your convention?
RCV| 9.7.12 @ 8:53PM
What a hoot, Nick! "Nazi" is about the nicest thing you guys call Obama and Democrats generally. Big difference between political rhetoric and racial disparagement.
And I love a Romney supporter trying to make hay out of Obama's supposed inability to fill a stadium! Magnetic Mitt managed to pack 1200 people into the 65000 seat Ford Stadium near Detroit!
Mr. Navaratil's point was well taken and the RNC deserves praise for getting those racists out of the hall as quickly as they could.
Be well! Don't get your hopes up, though.
Nick| 9.8.12 @ 11:19PM
Are you really comparing people who post comments on a blog to democrat party officials, RCV? State party chairmen? Seriously?
And when did "Nazi," "Goebbels," & "The Big Lie" become "political rhetoric"? What is that rule about the first one to compare the other side to Nazis, loses?
I'll give you Ford Stadium, that was bad planning. But, that was the primary. I made fun out Romney for that one, too.
O'Bama, on the other hand, couldn't fill the stadium at his renomitating convention!
Not too good, was it?
The luster is gone, RCV, face it.
RCV| 9.9.12 @ 1:05AM
That's why his poll numbers keep rising, Nick.
Nick| 9.9.12 @ 8:10AM
He still can't break the 50% mark, RCV.
Please, see my reply to the polls, in the other thread.

Jack in Wi| 9.7.12 @ 2:20PM
I have never advoctated that the hair on one Jew or anyone else be hurt. You filthy scum are always pushing for nuclear genocide on millions or tens of millions of Muslims. I have always advocated a peaceful and just settlement in the Middle East. That would mean that the Jewish Israeli's would have to treat all the people under their control with honor and dignity. You know like giving them full and equal civil, religious, and human rights. Full justice would also require that many billions in reparations be paid to the Palistinians for all the theft, murder, torture and discrimination of the last 64 years.
Israel could of had peace for decades and everyone would have moved on. It just wants a different kind of piece. It wants a big piece of Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Jordan, Egypt, and of course all of Palistine.
Nick| 9.7.12 @ 3:37PM
You forgot to praise your hero, Adolph Hitler, Jackboot the Nazi.
Jack in Wi| 9.7.12 @ 11:37PM
Nick here likes to call me a Nazi despite the fact that I dispise everything Hitler and his modern racist disciple Netanyhu stand for. I am a Catholic who believes in the universal botherhood of all men. I don't believe in master races be they German or Jewish or anything else. I believe in Jesus Christ the Prince of Peace. Nick loves to call himself a prolife Catholic but shills for all kinds of immoral and unjust wars. Nick also does ot like the fact that I run rings around him in any discussion of history. Therefore he has taken up his juvenile program of defaming me as a Nazi. He can't argue rationally so all he has left, like most Zionist apologists here, is name calling and nonsense.
RCV| 9.7.12 @ 9:11PM
Right, Jack. That's why it gave the entire Sinai, including the valuable Red Sea resorts, back to Egypt - an area larger than Israel itself. (It offered Gaza back to them as well, but even Egypt didn't want that hellhole!).
Jack in Wi| 9.7.12 @ 11:42PM
They gave the Sinai back because Egypt took it back. It was a losing situation. The same holds true in Gaza, which is nothing but a brutal walled concentration camp. When you think your neighbors are vermin and animals it is easy to act like the Israeli's do. If they didn't like the neighbors why did they steal the neighborhood and why do they stay there? Take your dual passsports and go somewhere else, like a million Jewish Israeli's already have.
RCV| 9.8.12 @ 12:01PM
I don't have a dual passport, Jack, since I'm not Jewish. (I am eligible for an Irish passport, thanks to my grandparents' birth there.)
mzk| 9.9.12 @ 12:09PM

mzk| 9.9.12 @ 12:14PM
How about the Moslems (and Christians - the Copts used to lead pogroms) paying reparations to the Jews of the Middle East for "or all the theft, murder, torture and discrimination of the last 100 years, starting with the massacres of Palestinian Jews by Palestinian Arabs in the 20's and 30's - not to mention the other 9 centuries in which Jewish lives and property could be taken without a murmur of protest.

Jack in Wi| 9.7.12 @ 2:30PM
Bibbi Netanyahu will never attack without the USA doing all the dirty work. The Israeli's have been saying that Iran is just about to have nuclear weapons for at least 20 years. The fact is that the military and intelligence establishments in both Israel and the USA have both said this is nonsense. Nutayahu wants to drag the world into a possible world war to fullfill the racist dreams of his father and himself.
You boys have just proved my point about your pushing for nuclear genocide. An attack on Iran could well lead to the isolation and possible end of Israel. Thank heavens their are too many sane Israeli's and Jews in the diaspora who will stop this. At least we hope there are. Nutanyahu and all you lunatics pushing this all belong in an Occam's insane asylum.
RCV| 9.7.12 @ 2:47PM
Destruction of Iran's nuclear ambitions will lead to a sigh of relief throughout the region, including most Arab capitals. They're smarter than you, Jack. The sooner the meglomaniac mullahs of Iran -- who foment unrest in Lebanon, finance most of the terrorist activities in the region, and are Assad's main protectors -- are dispatched, the better off the whole region, and the world, would be.
Jack in Wi| 9.7.12 @ 4:20PM
Baloney: The final removal of all nuclear weapons from the neighborhood is the only way for there to be peace in this neighborhood. The Israeli's have 500 and are led by certifiable lunatics like Nutanyahu, Barak, and Liebermann. So far the only thing the only thing keeping the world from a nuclear holocaust is the fact that huge numbers of sane Israeli's, especially in the military and intelligence communities, have stood up to the nuts and stoped these three stooges from carrying out their looney desires.
The Saudi's have enough nuclear weapons to obliterate Israel several times over. Who do you think financed the Pakistani bomb? The Turks have much more capablity to make nuclear weapons then Iran and probably have. The Russians and Chinese have had enough of Israel and it's warmongering. The best thing for the future of peace in the world would be for the Chinese and Russians to take over some of Iran's air defenses. It is a sad day when the world has to look to the Chinese and Russians, as the only sane big powers.
RCV| 9.7.12 @ 9:14PM
You show your true colors more every day, Jack. So now you think Russia and China are "the only sane big powers". What an American!
Jack in Wi| 9.7.12 @ 11:48PM
China and Russia aren't running all over the world fighting insane wars for no reason. The Russians learned their lesson over 20 years ago. They closed down their empire and went home. It long since time for us to do the same. The truth will set you free and America badly needs the truth.

Jack in Wi| 9.7.12 @ 4:34PM
You are a bloodthirsty SOB RCV. The fact that our own military and intelligence communities are in virtual revolt against any unprovoked attack on Iran means nothing to you. The fact that we have hundreds of thousands of military personal in the region who could be subject to attack means nothing to you. The fact that preemptive and preventive wars are war crimes that got a lot of German general officers hung means nothing to you. The fact that our military has been fighting nonsense wars for no sane reason for over a decade means nothing to you. Yes, indeed, the essence of Socialism is "You can have everything you want, the instant you want it, and Somebody Else Will Pay." You will also hear a lot about "The Less Fortunate" in socialist circles. This is because the Socialists believe that money is dumped over the country by Angels with golden baskets, and how much you have depends on where you were standing at the time. I was in the subway station one day when a clearly middle-class girl came through begging for "spare change." I asked her why she was begging, and she hesitated, and then admitted she was a college student and had spent her grocery money on shoes. I gave her $1 for being honest, and said "Think about that."

Romney’s father, born in Mexico, Goldwater, born in the Arizona Territory, and McCain, born in Panama, all ran for the Presidency but no one questioned their American citizenship but the minute a black man runs… Republican controlled State Houses are scrambling to block blacks from the polls…Romney will get less than 5% of the black vote, go figure.
And, maybe the Republicans gather in Tampa just forgot how much they love America’s warriors THEY sent to war.

McCain was born in the Canal Zone, which at the time was American territory, thus making him an American citizen at birth.
AmericanCynic| 9.7.12 @ 2:58PM
It's a little more complicated than that:
"In 1901 the U.S. Supreme Court had ruled in Downes v. Bidwell that unincorporated territories are not the United States.[26] On July 28, 1904, Controller of the Treasury Robert Tracewell stated: "While the general spirit and purpose of the Constitution is applicable to the zone, that domain is not a part of the United States within the full meaning of the Constitution and laws of the country."[27] Accordingly, the Supreme Court held in 1905 in Rasmussen v. United States that the full Constitution only applies for incorporated territories of the United States.[28] Until the rulings in these so-called "Insular Cases", children born of two U.S. citizens in the Canal Zone had been subject to the Naturalization Act of 1795, which granted statutory U.S. citizenship at birth. With the ruling of 1905 persons born in the Canal Zone only became U.S. nationals, not citizens.[29] This no man's land with regard to U.S. citizenship was perpetuated until Congress passed legislation in 1937, which corrected this deficiency. The law is now codified under title 8 section 1403.[30] It not only grants statutory and declaratory born citizenship to those born in the Canal Zone after February 26, 1904, with at least one U.S. citizen parent, but also did so retroactively for all children born of at least one U.S. citizen in the Canal Zone before the law's enactment.[31]"
AmericanCynic| 9.7.12 @ 2:59PM
(continued)
"In 2008, during a minor controversy over whether Canal Zone-born John McCain was legally eligible for the presidency, the U.S. Senate passed a resolution putting the question to rest, declaring McCain a "natural born citizen" of the United States.[32]"

Rip Van Obama--he's been asleep for the past four years. He was in the White House way late one night, reading letters from the poor, the tired, the hungary, the huddled masses...under a portrait of Lincoln...he opened his eyes last night and began to talk on and on, without recalling anything he's done the four years he's been president. He only remembered he was reading letters, his dog Bo lying by his chair, and he was just going to find Michelle and tell her how angry he felt about what was happening to the poor, the tired, the hungary, the huddle masses...the middle class...
vtwin| 9.7.12 @ 9:07AM
Obama has accomplished a lot in 4 years for the middle class; 29 straight weeks of job growth since Obama preempted the Bush depression, ended Bush’s war with Iraq, save the American automobile industry, reformed banking and healthcare, killed bin laden, restore American standing in the world, increased domestic energy production…
irish19| 9.7.12 @ 9:11AM

Darin| 9.7.12 @ 9:52AM
- Any job growth is due to a Republican House. Check the numbers and the changes track to the 2010 mid term elections.
- The war in Iraq had bipartisan support in Congress. And Obama hasn't said we won the war in Iraq, a direct slap at the military.
- Only US auto companies "saved" were union. Non-union suppliers got nothing, and secured bond holders got shafted by union payouts. And GM is again sliding toward bankruptcy.
- Banking is in turmoil as there is great uncertainty, leading to risk-adverse loan practices (until the government once again forces home loans be made to those who cannot repay).
- Healthcare costs are nuts, and there is zero effort to curtail a hugh factor - lawsuits. Trial lawyers donate to Democrats, so reforms don't target them.
- Bin Laden was killed by the SEALS, not Obama. Only an idiot would not have given the OK.
- American standing in the world is on the decline. Obama has insulted our strongest allies (Britain, Israel).
- What domestic energy increase? Killing the Keystone pipeline, banning offshore drilling, killing coal mines? Or do you mean the stellar success of companies like Solyndra?
Sorry bud, but your comments are a "fail" on all fronts. At least TRY to get in touch with reality.

How about remembering that a VERY LARGE segment of the Jewish-American community were in the FORE_FRONT of the Civil Rights struggles in the '60's--and way before then, as well?
There have been tensions between the Blacks and Jews to some degree, in the recent past, but based more on a segment of the Jewish community either "forgetting " our commitment to helping those who need it--- or a strain of racism that has developed in ultra -religious or CONSERVATIVE ( politically ) portions of the Jewish-American community...

You can go and read Adam Smith (the original) on the subject. I’ve worked in IT as a consultant or employee for over 30 years. In the years before the internet made off shoring in my line of work possible, many companies made use of the H1B visa program. H1B allowed them to bring in below market labor. These were essentially indentured workers as they were unable to quit without being deported or to change jobs unless the new employer would sponsor them.

So I quit working in the sector this kind of programmer could now do. Then the Indians said they could compete with the Sam's book fools for $300/month. Then the 195,000 per year H1-B visas were cut back to the 65,000 per year number and further accelerated the move of jobs to India and Brazil.
Where are we now? I'm doing custom consulting, embedded work, building instruments and acting as a single-source solution provider. The Indians have raised their rates and Kingofthenet is sucking hind titty or at least lamenting that the titty he is sucking isn't the one he would like.

Retool, fool! If you think a job is guaranteed for life, you not only will be disappointed, it's a recipe for destitution. I'm constantly updating my skill sets.

You liberal fools blame Republicans for inevitable globalization only because Republicans don't share your awful ideas for "combating" the negative consequences of liberal policies.
YOU make doing business in America more expensive, with your taxes, regulations, degradation of our education system, and currency manipulation. YOU make intelligent businesses feel that exploring foreign labor is worthwhile. Then YOU blame US for the bed you made for yourselves, suggesting that the existence of alternatives to America is our crime, somehow.
Would you have us nuke the rest of the world into oblivion so that it cannot compete (and beat) you in the job market?

What was your job?
A Vodka Taste Tester?

TLP,
I see Kingofthenet's problem. I'll to that for nothing!

"I lost a job to a H1B visa applicant from Russia."
That makes me happy!

Romney: I will create a bunch of jobs!
CNN: You didn't say how! Your promise is a lie!
Obama: I will create a bunch of jobs!
CNN: All hail the emperor!
Same speech, different guy, wildly different coverage.
Despicable.

Everyone feel free to send this to friends, etc...my new, non-copywrited name for NerObama's VP:
"Sloppy Joe" Biden.
Enjoy that chuckle...

That made my eye hurt.

Since the democrat party has become the Party of Death, it is fitting and proper that their convention be called the Convention of Hate.
Even The Daily Show has stopped covering for them (scroll down for video):

"Mr. Obama made much of the truth that the USA is producing a lot more energy from oil and gas domestically now compared with some years ago."
Nice to have Republicans FINALLY admit that!
"But he gives no credit at all to the oil companies and the gas companies that made that possible."
They have record breaking profits and tax payer subsidies, what else should we freaking place at their feet!?
LOL!

Hey, the wiki historian is back!
AC, you must be a glutton for punishment, huh?
Make sure you watch the video that I linked to, okay?
Also, check out this one, in which Jennie-pooh Granholm (the failed former gov. of MI) melts-down before your eyes. (She looks like a drunken ferret having an epileptic fit!)

The democrat faithful ave been interested by stories about Pacific War allies in West Papua, http://www.democraticundergrou.....um&id=1133
But have any of them been willing to touch the subject? I note the Congress in 2005 submitted questions about the colony to the Senate, but have the democrats done even that much?

Obama is the glitzy 1st husband who swept America off its feet, and carried her off to an amazing honeymoon, then came home, and ignored her, running around with his Mideast friends, quitting his job, and living off his wife's earnings.
Romney is the more staid 2nd husband, appreciated for his virtues, and most of all for the fact that he is NOT the cad she married 1st.

Linda, I just went to your blog and saw the wonderful documentary you linked to there. Great stuff, I replayed on fb. Thank you. Here's the link:

Re: President Obama's claim that he has reduced the U.S. 'dependance' on foreign oil. I think it's probably true that the U.S. is using far less foreign oil than we did during previous administrations. However, it seems quite logical to reason that the decreased use of oil is more likely a consequence of the reduced productivity of the economic climate so far in the Obama Administration. The use of energy (oil) is a basic in-put to a thriving, productive economy. When an economy falters enery consumption decreases. Thank you President Obama.

What little I saw of the Demoncrat convention was redolent of a Britcom called 'Allo 'Allo. When the proprietor's wife wanted to sing, everyone in Rene's cafe would stuff cheese in their ears to muffle her sound.

ObaMao reminds me of two things more than anything else:
1-a post turtle
2-the fable about the Frog and the Scorpion
