The Che Convention

The most left-wing Democrats in American history have gathered in Charlotte.

The Democrats open their national convention this week under dark storm clouds of left-wing extremism. This is not your father’s Democrat party. George McGovern would be a right winger at this convention.

The party meets to renominate Barack Obama, the most left-wing nominee and President in U.S. history, a self-identified Marxist with a long professional record of associating with Marxist and left-wing extremist individuals and organizations, if you read his autobiographies. If you disagree, or know someone who disagrees, the answer is read what the man himself has written about himself.

I won’t repeat that history of associations here because it is old news and would take way too much space to do it justice. It is a matter of public record, and not a matter over which reasonable people can differ.

The Che Guevara Democrats
But it is not just Barack Obama. The repeatedly reelected leader of the Democrats in the House is Nancy Pelosi, from an ultraliberal San Francisco district where the voters have long since stopped thinking and just vote Che as a matter of style. There are many more like her in the Democrat caucus, from similar districts. The soul of the House under Pelosi’s leadership is the Congressional Black Caucus, which features openly socialist representatives from inner city urban districts where the only political competition is between left and lefter. These members have replaced the Southern conservative Democrats of a generation ago as the most senior members of all the important committees. That marks an enormous difference from the Democrat party of the 1970s, further reflected in the complete collapse within the party of conservative Democrats.

Check out too the states where Democrats are in full, uncontested control, such as California and Illinois, which resemble Greece in fiscal, financial matters. In California, still more tax increases are on the ballot for this fall. In Illinois, after raising taxes on “the rich,” and on business, surprise, revenues are running short of projections, and deficits continue.

Or check out the political leadership of the major urban centers where Democrats also reign in full, uncontested control, such as Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Detroit, New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Chicago, Miami. A couple of these have rational mayors, but check out the city councils, the aldermen, the lesser elected officials. The debate in these political jurisdictions is as left wing socialist/Marxist as in any other jurisdiction in the world.

The grassroots spine of the party is the public employee unions, the SEIU, the teachers unions, AFSCME. This makes America’s Democrat party of today reminiscent of the British Labour Party of yesterday. Then there are the environmental extremist groups seeking to repeal the industrial revolution. You can see their handiwork in the deindustrialization of California, for example, even the rollback of agriculture in the state. In the next administration, you will see national economic statistics published without California, to understand the dominant national trends in the parts of the country that are still trying to be prosperous.

Then there are the social liberal interest groups, the gay rights groups, the pro-abortion groups, the transgender alliances. And, of course, the openly leftist student activist groups that Obama plays to, and Occupy Wall Street, which seems to have been the Democrats’ bid for a brown shirt group to start a riot. Remember Pelosi endorsing them? But it didn’t fly with the broader public so they seem to have backed off.

This is the heart and soul of the modern Democrat Party. And it is thoroughly Che.

The Biggest Government Spender in World History
You can see this increasingly flipped out Democrat party in Obama’s left-wing Presidency and reelection campaign. The numbers show that President Obama is the biggest government spender in world history. He proposed in his 2013 budget released in February to spend $3.8 trillion in fiscal 2013, which starts next month, an all-time world record for one year of government spending. For 2022, he proposed spending $5.820 trillion, an increase of 53%, another world record. For the next 10 years, the President’s own 2013 budget proposes to spend $47 trillion, the most in world history by far. President Obama cannot say George Bush made him propose all that record shattering spending!

Obama’s runaway spending spree is so left-wing it makes Franklin Roosevelt look like a Republican. The most Roosevelt ever spent in one year (during peacetime) was 10.7% of GDP, at the height of the Great Depression. Over Obama’s four years of office, federal spending has averaged 24.4% of GDP. Since World War II, up until Obama, federal spending actually was fairly stable around 20% of GDP. But Obama and his Che Guevara Democrats have already broken through that consensus, raising federal spending by about one fourth.

CBO further projects that on our current course, under current policies, federal spending soars absurdly, to 30% of GDP by 2027, 40% by 2040, 50% by 2060, and 80% by 2080. Add in another 10% to 15% for state and local government spending, and we will have smashed right through Swedish socialism, all the way to full blown communism, where the government takes and spends everything. You see what I mean by Marxism?

Yet, President Obama refuses to consider any entitlement reforms to gain control of that bankrupting spending. Instead, he rammed through Obamacare in his first term, which adopted or sharply expanded 3 new entitlement programs, only adding fuel to the fire. Then he ridicules Paul Ryan’s efforts for the fundamental entitlement reforms that would make a difference, so carefully designed that no one would be hurt. In fact, Ryan’s Medicare reforms would be better for seniors than Obamacare’s Medicare, and Ryan’s Medicaid reforms would be better for the poor than Medicaid under Obamacare, just as all of Ryan’s reforms to welfare entitlements would actually benefit the poor.

As a result, CBO also projects that on our current course, under current policies, the national debt held by the public would rocket to 140% of GDP by 2030, 220% by 2040, and 320% by 2050, on its way to over 700% by 2080. That is a roadmap to a Grecian-style sovereign debt crisis, which would arrive long before that, unless we change leadership, and change course.

Note, those projections of skyrocketing national debt include the Obama tax increases discussed below, which are already enacted in current law and included in current policies. But CBO does not accurately account for them, as sharply raising taxes on the most critical and productive economic actors, the nation’s job creators, investors, and successful small businesses, will more likely lose revenue rather than gain it. Indeed, if those tax increases do throw the country back into recession, as argued below, federal revenues will collapse again, and federal deficits and debt will soar further.

Che was a monster in the same category as Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, and Mao. The only difference is Che did not obtain the same numbers. Anyone is elevate Che as a "hero" counts themselves as supporters as the other four I mentioned. And they should be told so, for they likely do not know what kind of person Che really was.

Indy| 9.5.12 @ 7:43AM

The Che Cult

http://www.glennbeck.com/conte.....198/35425/

What has happened to our schools is shameful, they do not teach the truth, instead kids form opinions from celebraties who sport Che tatoos / fashion. I now ask people especially Blacks who wear Che shirts, who is that guy? If they don't know, I calmly suggest they do some research because if they knew who he really was, they would not idolize him.

Eddie_Valiant| 9.5.12 @ 8:57AM

Indy, your suggestion that people do research into who Che was means they'd have to read and comprehend what they read. As you pointed out, schools don't teach the truth, nor do they teach reading. They do teach how to perform homosexual acts, but reading is just not a priority.

So, they are unlikely to ever know the truth. Black Americans continue to support the Democrats in spite of the fact Dems support black genocide in the form of legal abortion. 72% of all black babies are now victims of abortion.

Incredible.

Indy| 9.5.12 @ 9:06AM

True, but I tell Blacks they might be surprised to learn what Che thinks of them, perhaps they will never look but all I do is try to open the door, it is up to them to walk through.

TLP| 9.5.12 @ 2:15PM

To this day, Blacks in Cuba are LESS than Non-Black Cubans.

The Obama did not TRY to plant American Guns in Mexico. They Ran 2,000 of them to the Mexican Drug Cartels, and are RESPONSIBLE for Hundreds of Murders.

Let's get that Straight, right off the bat.

They don't TRY anything. They DO. Even if it's ILLEGAL, as in Forging Documents to a Federal Judge about the Findings of their own Committee, on the aftermath of the BP Oil Rig Explosion, and putting in to effect - ILLEGALLY - their Drilling Moratorium, after that Federal Judge DENIED their requests, twice.

His ILLEGAL War in Libya.

His ILLEGAL Recess Appointments.

His Unconstitutional Refusal to enforce the Laws on the Books.

His Unconstitutional End Arounds via Executive Order, to put in place those things that he couldn't get past Congress.

His Lawsuits against American States.

His BLACKS ONLY Justice Dept.
And yet, we still have guys, like Peter Ferrara, who want to thread the needle, when it comes to the 1st African American Über Marxist, Communist, Maoist President, with an Inbred Hatred for this Country, Israel, Whites, Jews, and the Private Sector.

"The Obama Administration TRIED to plant American Guns in Mexico".

This is why we're where we are.

LOSE THE DRESS, Peter.

Be a Man, and cut it out, with the Bullsh*t.

He RAN GUNS, and everybody knows it.

And yet, you can't bring yourself to SPEAK IT?

What good are ya?

Seriously.

CJW| 9.5.12 @ 7:53AM

"Che!" was also a lousy movie. I think Omar Sharif played Che, and Jack Palance played Fidel.
I bet purpie/jack and the rest still have a Che poster in their room.

Stephie| 9.5.12 @ 8:42AM

Next to the faded Hope and Change poster of the bamster.

MistOfTheCity| 9.5.12 @ 4:16PM

Uh, making incendiary erroneous red-bating lies like that without any details of comparison is just plain stupidity. Get your facts straight.

Che did NOT perform or create genocide. Che did NOT discriminate against a particular people. Che did NOT mount huge military offensives.

Butch| 9.5.12 @ 5:12PM

To your first "fact," true. But he got off to a good start.

To your second "fact," also true. He killed indiscriminately, and even wrote about how much he liked it.

To your third "fact," true, but irrelevant. He participated in military activities, all revolutionary, on two continents, three if we count the islands as North America. No, wearing a uniform and exposing himself to return fire was not for him. He preferred his victims handcuffed, lined up, and blindfolded.

MistOfTheCity| 9.5.12 @ 4:23PM

You obviously have no education in history. Have you ever read anything about the movement, values and vision that Che was a participant of? Seems certainly myopic and predictable that you would glue yourself to sound bites that are wholly superficial and speak no truths. One could say the same about evolution. Time to come out of the water and get some legs.

Appleby| 9.5.12 @ 6:54AM

If you'd like an example of what's ahead, take a look at the elections that just happened in Quebec, where the Separatists have just won a minority government. In fact, take a look back at the summer in Montreal and see what a successful "Occupier" movement looks like.

But of course, as Mama reminds me, nobody ever learns from somebody else's mistakes.

And what is more important, there is the underlying assumption that regardless of what they do out there in Kiddie Land, Mom and Dad will always pay. Every time they reach into that mailbox, the cheque will be in the mail...because socialism tells them that they can have everything they want, the instant they want it, and somebody else will pay.

PolishKnight| 9.5.12 @ 9:17AM

Appleby, that logic is understandable when it's held by either beneficiaries of the welfare state or its cronies. What I find puzzling is when I see posts in facebook from friends whose backgrounds have nothing to do with the leftist agenda. It doesn't make sense. But then again, leftists I talk to can't seem to understand why white working class heterosexual males working in private industry don't love the Democrats. When I point out that the Democrats demonize white males by race and these working class as a bunch of ignorant rubes, they response that they're a bunch of ignorant rubes who don't know what's good for them (the irony is lost on them.)

Oh, perhaps that's it. In addition, many of these leftists are in love with Europe which regards the USA and especially the conservative USA, as an ideological threat, or more accurately, a reminder of their culture's inevitable decline and demise. Shoot the messenger (or Trotsky. Whichever comes first.)

The useful idiots and cheerleaders of the left are increasingly a minority (literally as well as figuratively) as they move forward and their ideology's dogma deteriorates.

Bill Hussein O'Stalin| 9.5.12 @ 7:16AM

The participants in the stadium at the Democratic Convention looks like the same crowd of moochers who were in the Superdome after Katrina.

Everyone there wants a piece of your paycheck in the form of free housing, free health care and free food.

In that sense, all the taxpayers and achievers are the victims of Hurricane Obama.

JimH| 9.5.12 @ 7:41AM

What do you call the list of speakers at the Dem convention? Unindicted co-conspirators.

vtwin| 9.5.12 @ 12:54PM

Republican Convention: Bush and Cheney not invited. No surprise there. Christie and Rubio talked more about themselves then the Republican candidate…2016? Ryan has since spent his time back-tracking the lies in his speech. Ryan, “3 minute marathon,” this guy is a pathological liar. No mention of Afghanistan or our men and woman in serving in harm’s way overseas. No policy substance in Romney speech except the threat of war with Iran. And, all the empty chairs in the convention center ate it up.

TLP| 9.5.12 @ 2:23PM

Democrat Convention: The 1st Jimmy Carter, The Rapost, and the Slut from Georgetown, who gets Laid so often, that she can't afford her own Conyraception, were invited.

Mr. Ferrara, Thank you for calling the Left what they are - radicals. However, you obviously did not get the memo, Karl Rove says we must not say such things...
http://www.trevorloudon.com/20.....ith-obama/
Seriously, the weakness from the GOP is disturbing, with only a few simple facts, this race would be over, it should not be close. The GOP stands in silence as the Left portrays conservatives as radicals, meanwhile, this Administration, (not just POTUS / FLOTUS), Valerie Jarett, Axelrod, Timmy G, czars, cabinet and many more + D's in the Senate / House. Reid and team blast the GOP for not compromising but never a word from the GOP to say the Democrats are no longer the party of Truman. Low information D's have no idea, their party has been taken over by Soros, M. Moore, Code Pink, etc...my comment is based on my peers at work, members of my church, neighbors, they are good people who have no clue, they are D's because their parents / grandparents were D's...will they wake up in time?

Stephie| 9.5.12 @ 8:45AM

I can't stand Rove. Why is he given time on FOX? and Indy, you're right about the silence and weakness in not calling obama what he is, is disturbing.

DTOM| 9.5.12 @ 10:29AM

Stephie;

Listen carefully to Fox. They didn't toss Glenn Beck because he was too centrist.

Fox has moved to the left, following MSNBC and the rest, to pick up market share.

They are not particularly conservative just a wee little bit more so than the rest of the far, far left lamestream media. So the farther left the mainstream media move, the farther Fox moves left to pick up the viewers left behind by the lamestream's leftward lurch.

Don't the Koch Brothers want to start a news network to the RIGHT of Fox? Please, Fox'd lose half their viewership in a week. I swear!!!

And Bill O'Reilly's knowledge of economics wouldn't get him through econ 100 in the local community college. His drooling over, pandering to pretty blondes should keep his wife good and aggravated, though...

Don't forget to keep an eye on Fox! Don't let them raise the water temperature so slowly that you don't notice them trying to they cook you!

Remember that vigilance is supposed to be

ETERNAL!

DTOM

Jacob McCandles| 9.5.12 @ 1:03PM

O'Reilly is an idiot. "I'm for the folks" blah blah blah. He missed a golden opportunity to slam BHO on taxes during his interview in 2008 and played right into his hands. "you want to tax me MORE?!?"

Charles Gibson did it better for crying out loud.

TLP| 9.5.12 @ 2:24PM

Agreed.

I stopped watching FOX a long time ago.

Von Mises Jr| 9.5.12 @ 8:45AM

Here is the dirty little secret in the Clinton V. Bush tax rates: The current brackets are thrust significantly higher with much lower rates under Bush. For those of you in Rio Linda, that means that if the Bush rates are not extended, you not only pay higher rates, but the higher rates start at much lower income levels.

For existence, Bush rates are 10% to $16,750 and 15% to $65,100 in nominal terms in 2008. But the Clinton rates in his final year of 2000 were 15% to $43,859 and 28% to $105,950.
This means that you pay 5% more on the first $16,750 ($837), and 13% higher on $43,850 up to a AGI of $65,100 ($2762). So if you have one good income or two average incomes and you have household income in the high five figures with an AGI of $65K, you will pay about $3,600 more if the tax rates simply revert back to pre-Bush.
Then they tend to stabilize until mid-six figures, but still increase consistently across the board.

If Obama is re-elected and is secure for four more years, why would he give middle class people higher brackets and lower rates when he is a globalist and considers YOU the global top 1%?

Von Mises Jr| 9.5.12 @ 8:47AM

Correction, I meant for instance. Perp and D'Redful would find this liberal illogic to disprove my math.

Houdini| 9.5.12 @ 10:46AM

Like Willie Sutton, Obama's minions know where the real money is when it comes to taxes....the middle class. They will be happy to go back to the Clinton tax rates and blame it on the republicans.

TLP| 9.5.12 @ 2:27PM

Exactly.

We must always remember that Every Day is Opposite Day, where the Left is Concerned.

"The Republicans are the Party of Joseph Goerbels, and the Big Lie."

Again: You can't make this Sh*t up.

JWells| 9.5.12 @ 9:05AM

You would think the Whitehouse atmosphere of artifacts of our magnificient history would rub off a bit and MAYBE Americanize somewhat these idiots...but there is no sign of HOPE.....THEY just don't get it! They all gotta just Go!

Derek Leaberry| 9.5.12 @ 9:30AM

Let us not forget that those are evil people at the Democratic Convention in Charlotte. They are united in their devotion to socialism and big government and are united in their hatred of Western Civilization, Christianity and the historic American nation.

David T| 9.5.12 @ 9:49AM

Amen. Real or fake, Obama's birth certificate means nothing. The man is simply not an American. He has no regard for our history, our culture, or our standing in the world. He is a curse and a blight upon our country. Pray God that his spell is lifted on November 6.

nathan| 9.5.12 @ 10:27AM

"Legally" he was an American at birth no matter where that birth took place because his mother was an American and conveyed citizenship to him at that moment. Under American law when one parent is American and has lived in the US for a certain number of years, they convey citizenship to their kids no matter where the birth physically takes place. McCain himself was not born in the 50 states. This is and always has been a dead issue. His philosophies are another issue. Churchill by the way was also American by birth because of his American mother. He was in fact a dual national.

DTOM| 9.5.12 @ 10:37AM

Nathan;

Read the Constitution - it says:

No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the
time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President...

So it doesn't matter if Obama is a citizen. Whether he was born to the First Lady or the First Cat; if the birth took place off of US territory, he's not eligible under past interpretations.

You might want to go over that Constitution thing again...

DTOM

nathan| 9.5.12 @ 11:04AM

Where exactly was McCain born? Panama. He qualified based on his parentage. Look at what you quoted me. Any number of people have looked at that language and said "natural born" does not require birth inside the physical confines of the country. That if you meet the eligibilty for being an American at time of birth, even if abroad, you qualify. But reasonable men can disagree and so we shall.

DTOM| 9.5.12 @ 11:46AM

In the US Panama Canal Zone! Which some court held made McCain "Natural born!"

Give it up - get a horse. This is counting jobs created or saved by a stimulus program!

DTOM

Cpm| 9.7.12 @ 6:03PM

It doesn't matter where you are born, if your parents are both American citizens.

David T| 9.5.12 @ 10:50AM

Nathan--My point, which you obviously missed, is that it doesn't matter where, when, or to whom he was born. Culturally, ethically, or any other way you want to cut it, Obama is not American.

nathan| 9.5.12 @ 11:09AM

Sir: I actually did. But be a "little" careful here. We can based on this or that criteria, vote a lot of people off the island. A lot of people on this site would love to exile me and I'm the most conservative person I know! LOL

DTOM| 9.5.12 @ 11:48AM

Mebbe you need to get out more...

DTOM

And you can be a natural born American and be as un-American as all get out! Witness Barry Obama!

Can we get back to the important job of counting jobs saved or created by a stimulus program now?

DTOM

TLP| 9.5.12 @ 2:33PM

Nathan, maybe you can explain Hawaii Boy's Connecticut Social Security Number, and why he has spent $4 Million keeping his Documents Sealed, after getting Bought and Paid for Judges, in Chicago, to UNSEAL his opponent's Sealed Records, when he was running for the State Senate, and the U.S. Senate, on the grounds that The People had a Right To Know who they were Voting for?

I'll wait.

Derek Leaberry| 9.5.12 @ 12:16PM

He may not even be Barack Obama Sr.'s son. Although I think the President was born in Hawaii to the former Stanley Ann Dunham, he could be the son of Marshall Davis. Think of that. If the right DNA tests were done, Barack Obama might be transformed ala Kareem Abdul Jabbar into President Barry Davis.

As usual, Mr. Ferrara nails it. His use of irrefutable details, especially the dollar figures, exposes the poseurs of the Obama cult, in spades.

Yesterday afternoon, in Medford, Oregon, a small town of 50,000, me and around 20 other oldsters saw “Obama 2016”. It was worth it to see on a big screen what I already knew.

However!

I never can bear to watch Democrat crap, these days. So when the flick showed the massive rally and support Obama got when he accepted the nomination in 2008, the overwhelming adulation expressed by the crowd that filled up the screen reminded of a Hitler rally.

All the faces were completely ecstatic about “The One”! I hate to make Hitler comparisons, but geez---the obvious-to-me fact was that it was all about emotion, NOT thinking. Not the way to choose a leader!

It’s even worse than I thought---America is indeed almost toast. I see a piece of bread, as America, put in the Obama toaster in 2008. Now, in 2012, there is smoke arising---which started coming out, in trickles UP, from the get go.

The big question is, is the toast as America already too black and burned, and not just inedible, but toxic if eaten.

Smoke gets in your eyes!

Before Romney-Ryan can use logic to convince, they need to blow away the obfuscations Obama is furiously emitting.

nathan| 9.5.12 @ 10:31AM

Read Gene Healey's comments on 2016 for an alternative look at the movie. Healey is VP for the CATO institute. D'Souza, born the same year as BHO potentially projects too much of himself on that film. BHO is not about Africa, he's all about Chicago. D'Souza was on Maher the other night and Maher ate him alive. Horrible outing for him.

DTOM| 9.5.12 @ 10:49AM

You seem especially adept with the mind reading thing.

I'll look to actions. There is no doubt that Obama
1. Gutting our military capabilities
2. Gutting our fiscal-economic future
3. Gutting our industrial capabilities
4. Gutting our energy capabilities
5. Gutting border defenses
6. Gutting our rule of law

Given that, I have not a single care whether Obama does it because he is 'about Africa,' 'about Chicago,' or angry because his mother's name was Stanley and his father deserted her and him. No one should care.

He's is evil and decidedly anti-American as no President has ever been.

If 2016 proposes a rationale for Obama's behavior fine - but people probably need to understand that that is what he is doing. And he means to do it...he wants us subjugated, defeated, and put in our place...

He's no American in my book! He's a dadburn socialist/communist and does not belong in OUR White House. He profanes it every time he opens his mouth! He makes Senator Grand Dragon Robert Byrd look like an altar boy.

Good grief!

Focus, people, focus!

And has Bill Maher ever taken a bite out of that marshmallow Michael Moore for factually challenged movie-making? I think not. Maher can never, ever be taken as any form of unbiased critic, unless you are an uninformed dolt...

Maybe, next time, he'll think twice before going on such shows.

Kwan| 9.5.12 @ 10:13AM

We can now see that the "War on Poverty" had an ulterior purpose for the left. It constructed a yammering army of moochers crying for their "fair" share of the pie, and gave left-wing radicals a so-called cause to demand the termination of free enterprise/capitalism, due to the fact that it doesn't fairly distribute the wealth of the nation. We can best compare Obama to a "Terminator Robot" diligently going about the business of destroying America in order to achieve some left-wing idiotic fantasy about fairness and equality. An alien agenda is being imposed upon the nation by a man we know little or nothing about, other than the fact that he hates America and wants to fundamentally transform it. Like Clint said, "When someone isn't doing the job, we've got to let him go."

nathan| 9.5.12 @ 10:41AM

To be sure the great society programs were unconstitutional from day one. I won't bore you all with Madison's famous quote. However you will recall that those programs enjoyed considerable support at the time from republicans, many who voted for them. And Plan D was the greatest expansion of social welfare spending since great society adding well over one trillion to the deficit maybe two and who advocated it? Bush. Who voted for it and played cheer leader for it? Ryan. So while your point is well taken all this social welfare spending can't be placed solely at the feet of "left wing radicals". Too many republicans have been complicit in the creation of these programs and growth of them later. Notice that Ryan's proposal doesn't touch Medicare in a meaningful way at the earliest 2028 despite the fact it's insolvent today. If you're not going to ask seniors today to be part of the solution, you're simply not serious about dealing with it.

Kwan| 9.5.12 @ 12:32PM

Nathan you're having a I can't see the forest because the trees are in the way problem here. It's Obama and the Democrats who are trying to "fundamentally transform" the country into Venezuela not Bush and the Republicans. That being said I'm sure we can both agree with Clint that it's time to let Obama go. Right or not right?

nathan| 9.5.12 @ 10:19AM

A point of order Mr. Chairman. All presidents, this one included, may PROPOSE any budget they wish. Congress, the House in particular where spending bills are supposed to orginate, have zero obligation to pass any budget from any president. They are free to do what they including writing their own budgets. In that regard, constitutionally there is no such thing as "presidential" deficits since presidents broadly have no independent authority to spend money not previously authorized by congress. We may speak of Pelosi deficits, certainly but BHO deficits are accurate only from the standpoint that he signed spending bills placed on his desk and didn't veto them. Any constitutional scholars who disagree have at it.

BHO gets jumped on for not emforcing laws as written. I'll give you another instance. Recently Holder declined to investigate credible stories of torture (itself illegal under American law) that may have resulted in the death of the detainee(s) as required by the international agreements we both helped to draft and are signatories to. I'm sure all of you will join me in insisting that Holder fulfill his oblgation under Geneva and the Torture conventions to ensure that interrogators who misbehaved have their day in court. Thank you.

DTOM| 9.5.12 @ 12:02PM

Nathan;

You seem to have a desire to get it right. But you fall into the ditch a lot.

You are right a President does not enact a budget, that takes both Houses of Congress AND a Presidential signature. But historically Presidential leadership has resulted in Congress passing a budget that the President would actually sign. That is the meaning of "Presidential deficits." If you are trying to use the exact denotations of the Constitution to absolve Obama from budgetary responsibility, you probably also believe that calories you consume in restaurants don't contribute to your weight gain.

This moron of a President and his supporting party have refused to vote on or pass a budget for the last three years, leaving the old budget in place (originally under Speaker NANCY PELOSI in the House and Majority Leader HARRY REID in the Senate.) with the Republicans in the House occasionally re-authorizing expenditures which the Democrats eagerly pass and forward to the little President.

So these are Obama's deficits - don't try to make excuses. Besides it is the Executive Branch that actually spends the money appropriated by Congress.

John Boehner could have shown some leadership and fought with Reid and Obama to get a budget by letting the budgetless federal government just shut down. But he backed away from the fight...

You better study or we're going to start wondering about your true intentions here...

Don't Tread On Me!

Nick| 9.5.12 @ 3:17PM

No need to wonder, DTOM.
Nathan is either a liberal troll, a RINO, or a Paul-Bot.

He doesn't even know that the Constitution of the United States of America says specifically that "All bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives" (Article 1, Section 7). Not "spending bills."
Despite the bogus tradition of the House.

Get the movie "The Lost City", which Andy Garcia made several years ago, and show it to your family and friends. It depicts dramatically the what and how Castro and Che took over Cuba.
As a refugee from communism, it saddens me how little our people understand what is being done to us. The movie is excellent!

Eduardo| 9.5.12 @ 11:06AM

I'm starting to think the only solution is to maybe split the US into 3 separate countries. Combine California, Washington and Oregon into "Pacifica"and the entire eastern seaboard above the Mason Dixon line into "Atlantia" or something. These two countries can pursue whatever insane and suicidal policies they wish. The rest of the conservative or nominally conservative Heartland and South can be the third country. This 3rd country can have sensible tax and economic policies, low impact government and regulation, and have personal responsibility - combined with personal freedom and liberty - as it's bedrock principles. We can call this 3rd country something like, I dunno, maybe "America".

DTOM| 9.5.12 @ 12:05PM

Eduardo;

You are writing off a lot of innocent people.

Let's have no more silly talk of splitting the country. The last time we tried it, it cost us 600,000 dead. And the only people who would be happy would be our enemies!

Hush up - make some sense!

DTOM

Alej| 9.5.12 @ 5:46PM

He makes all the sense in the world. Right now, California sends Pelosi, Waxman, Feinstein, Boxer et retards to Washington to make laws governing Texas.

Doesn't compute. The people who continually elect those sorts to accurately represent them are like Waziristanis to people in the South. Different countries in all but the paperwork, already.

Cpm| 9.7.12 @ 6:36PM

This sounds like Biden's idea to split Iraq into 3 states.

william noonan | 9.5.12 @ 11:24AM

This is exactly correct! The Democratic Party has gone from Woodrow Wilson's protection of factory workers and leveled competition, to FDR's sunny optimism of financial recovery and WW2, to Truman & Kennedy's Communist containment strategy, to LBJ's failed policies of the War on Poverty & Vietnam, to the disastrous 1968, Carter's ineptness, Clinton's opportunism to now the Marist/Socialist philosophy of Barack Obama, all in 100 years! I have just published a book on this very topic. I would love for you to peruse and advise. JFGalt| 9.5.12 @ 12:57PM

While it makes us feel better to call OBAMA! a marxist, he doesn't qualify as one as he doesn't actually support the marxist agenda. He is a socialist but more importantly we must remember that what he really about is that he is a highly skilled politician. He blows whatever way the wind blows to get him power. He will support whatever cause will give him support to do his deeds. If conservatives offered him enough money he would probably switch parties while claiming some epiphany. The only success he really has had has been to come out of seemingly nowhere and becoming quite wealthy and politically powerful. He is a nobel laureate. Yet, he has no real accomplishments in either his legal profession, in his role as a community organizer, as a state legislator, as a senator or even as president. When all is said and done, we still really don't know who this guy is, where is he from, what is he about and where is he taking us. The truth is not something that can be attributed to OBAMA! If you think about it in that sense he is like a marxist.

Will| 9.5.12 @ 2:06PM

Please explain how Obama is a Marxist? This is the man who bailed out capitalist automakers and banks, for God's sake.

JD| 9.5.12 @ 2:12PM

Looks like we have a visitor who's bought the propaganda hook, line, and sinker. Democrats slap the label "capitalist" on all that goes wrong, hoping to fool people into not looking at root causes. Then, like good fascists, they take over industries under the guise of crisis-aversion, telling the public that the industries remain independent and responsible for all problems, which can be prevented by funneling still more power to government.

PolishKnight| 9.5.12 @ 4:40PM

Perhaps it's time to pause and reflect about what the role of government is and how the left abuses it.

A (little) "fascism" is a good thing when government and businesses cooperate to put a man on the moon, or to help the USA win world wars, or to build new computers and industries that are now the standard the world over.

The left cleverly steals many good ideas, including conservative ones, and exploits them to their own ends. Consider the police: Obama's friends in the 60's used to call them swine because they busted them for doing drugs or robbing banks. But as Obama and his ilk started to find "establishment" ways of earning a living and doing well, such as BS professorships, or cushy hospital director jobs, etc. then they wanted the police there to protect their interests. They became "The Man". And the police? They made them into fatcat union members that served the party. In the old days, teachers were "conservatives" teaching children to study hard and be personally responsible. Now, they turn out illiterates that vote Democrat. Get the picture? They're making conservatives into anarchists and rebels. When they take over the military, that's it. What's left?

In the meantime, the left's rhetoric claims to be against "fascism" and control even as they want to regulate speech, control movement, etc. It's very simple: When it's their group and party in the minority, it's "fascism" and wrong. When they're bashing heads, it's good ol' "progressive" fun.

George S| 9.5.12 @ 2:15PM

How can Obama be a Marxist if he bailed out capitalist automakers and banks...

... follows the logic of:

How can there be so many people in jail if the crime rate is dropping?

Eduardo| 9.5.12 @ 2:26PM

Unlike 1862, this split may eventually (perhaps unavoidably?) happen without force of arms on any of the sides. Certain parts of the country may be happier without certain other parts (and what they are doing to us as a whole) and vice versa. As far as innocent people, they can move to where they would be more comfortable, both economically and culturally. I'm no rebel and am advocating none of this; I'm saying I can see it eventually happeneing. One thing is certain, the status quo with the deep divisions we now have cannot last for too much longer.

MistOfTheCity| 9.5.12 @ 4:19PM

No One Here Studies History
It's amazing how many ignorant and misinformed people there are here on this thread. Obviously, you know no history whatsoever or have even read about the movement that Che was participated in, and their values and vision. Did you actually graduate high school or better go to community college?

It's a real shame when moderates and conservatives get so myopic and microscopic on issues that they only listen to superficial sound bites from.

MistOfTheCity| 9.5.12 @ 4:20PM

Oh, I'm sorry, maybe you are not moderates or conservatives. Perhaps you are Republicans?

JmsA| 9.5.12 @ 5:26PM

Values, MistOfTheCity? How about mass graves containing those who disagreed with Cuban communists in Oriente, eastern Cuban, and elsewhere? Ever heard of UMAP? It stands for Unidades Para Asistencia Militar para la Produccion (Military Units for Assistance in Production). They were work camps created by Che, where they worked, starved and tortured those not toeing socialist line, including priests, homosexuals, etc., after they had been denounced by the CDR (neighborhood comitees for defense of the revolution) and arrested on suspicion of anti-revolutionary behavior. They were referred to as "lumpen", a German Marxist term dennoting low or contemptible individuals because of their unproductiveness, shiftlessness, etc. How about Che's shipping Cuba's gold to the USSR and other communist block countries for weapons, in the process destroying the Cuban currency, which upon the takeover of Cuba by Castro was worth 10% more than the American Dollar? How about imprisoning and torturing tens of thousands? How about purging Cuban universities of non-communists? How about executing thousands, including teenagers and pregnant women, though not before forcibly taking their blood, used to treat overseas communist fighters such in Viet Nam, Laos, Yemen, etc?

Upon his capture in Bolivia in 1967, your hero, Che yelled out: "Don't shoot. I'm Che. I'm worth more to you alive than dead." Obviously, it didn't help this communist piece of crap, murdering coward.

Alej| 9.5.12 @ 10:08PM

JmsA, most folks here know the detailed or at least general history of the Cuban communist attempt to spread totalitarianisn throughout Central and South America... but thanks for your synopsis.
