Once again, the Democratic races were about race.
The real election in the city of St. Louis occurred last Tuesday when Missouri held its Democratic primary. Six primary races pit white Democrats versus black Democrats, including high-profile races for U.S. Congress, the state senate, three state house races and sheriff.
Like most major cities, the general election here is a foregone conclusion. Republicans haven’t been a force in city politics for more than a half-century. In fact, you’d have to time-travel back to the misty mid-1940s before you could find a Republican occupying the mayor’s office.
St. Louis’s last GOP mayor was a lawyer named Aloys Kaufmann, who landed in the mayor’s chair after his predecessor, William Becker, and nine other local luminaries plummeted 1,500 feet to their death after a wing broke off their Waco CG-4 glider. Following Kaufmann’s tenure, the Democrats took over city hall for good, beginning their 50-year undeclared war on the poor, razing historical neighborhoods and forcing residents into inhuman crime-infested public housing projects.
Like most primaries in this half-white, half-black city, this year’s races were first and foremost about race. Thanks to redistricting, the fight for Missouri’s new First Congressional District seat pit two incumbents against each other: the African-American William Lacy Clay (son of a former congressman) and the nebulously hued Russ Carnahan (son of a former U.S. senator). Needless to say, the First Congressional District is not “The People’s Seat.” Despite lots of talk about unity, diversity, and other feel-good buzzwords, Clay was expected to get virtually all of the African-American vote, while Carnahan had the white vote wrapped up. Since there are slightly more blacks than whites in the district, Clay was predicted to narrowly win. And did.
The same went for Missouri’s state house and state senate races. Our friend Ruth, who played piano at our wedding, ran against Penny Hubbard, a longtime cog in the North St. Louis African-American political machine. It was telling that the Hubbard campaign literature that graced my front door handle featured no images of white residents. Despite that “oversight,” Hubbard narrowly won. Meanwhile the state senate race pit a gay white women, Jeanette Mott Oxford, versus two African-American women, Robin Wright-Jones (the daughter of the former comptroller) and Jamilah Nasheed, who told the local paper, “I’m black before I’m a Democrat.” The Black Firster won handily.
SEVERAL DEMOCRAT POLITICIANS employed scare tactics to turn out the vote. Lacy Clay warned that many black voters would not support Carnahan if he were the nominee in the general election. “The enthusiasm would not be there,” he told the local paper. “For the black community, they would probably go in and vote for Obama and walk out. It would be viewed as setting back the black community, for sure.” The local African-American newspaper warned that St. Louis could end up having no black representatives in Congress, the state senate or the state house. It was the same story throughout St. Louis. You could tell if the residents of a home were black or white based on whose political signs were posted in their front yard.
St. Louis’s Democrats alleged that this year’s black-white contests were part of a right-wing conspiracy, that Republicans in Jefferson City redrew the formerly mostly black or mostly white districts to create bi-racial races. This would lead to more racial tension among the Democratic Party in the city, a good move politically for the GOP, perhaps, but a disaster for race relations. Republicans, naturally, wouldn’t care about that since they do not live in the city.
The idea is that since sour grape Republicans cannot win in the city, they’ve decided to create mayhem for Democrats and city residents. The only problem with that theory is that it is hogwash. Republicans stopped caring about what happens in the city of St. Louis when Aloys Kauffman left office in 1949.

Obama is a disaster for race relations. Many non-blacks who voted for him realize by now he's a racist, so they will be happy to vote for Romney. Obama, aka Ovomit, is about to be thrown into the garbage truck of history where he belongs.
But it's really about the economy, and people know it would get much worse if Ovomit had 4 more years. They also see that he would do a lot more damage to the rule of law, and circumvent Congress by issuing a series of Executive Orders. Ovomit has done so much damage to our country already!

The continuing degradation of our culture is a huge issue, with the disintegration of the family at its center. Romney is the poster boy for reversing that. Who he is as an individual is as important as his politics. The left hates people like him and Sarah Palin. You know, people of faith with intact families who teach individual responsibility to their younger members.
Obama accuses Romney of wanting to take us back to the 50s. I'm curious what it is about the 50s that Obama hates so much? Is it the general anti-communist sentiment or the prevalence of solid families in every neighborhood in the country? The culture of the 50s is as threatening to the left as a cross is to a vampire. They've worked hard to get America where it is today - loaded with single-mothers and swelling welfare rolls, along with other disincentives to live a moral life of achievement. Congratulations to them. Their work is almost done. Another four years of The Muslim will do it.

There was a time when many people like me were looking and succeeding in improving their lives, even through Jim Crow and segregation. And then something happened. The welfare state came into being and rotted the Black community from within. Aloys P. Kaufmann was my great Uncle Ollie, and what a great man he was - a natural politician who could work a room better than anyone I've ever met. He was elected in his own right after assuming the office, and could have easily been elected Governor or US Senator if he that's what he wanted. He was too smart to go down that road, though, so he retired from politics to practice law and make suggestive remarks to young ladies (including every girl at my high school graduation party). A great character - thanks for giving him the props he deserves!

Mr. Orlet should not be surprised by the racial voting of St. Louis. It is part of life. For instance, in rural South counties with large black populations, you can almost predict the Republican-Democratic totals by the black-white demographic breakdown. Moreover, the Republicans have wisely used the Civil Rights Laws to draw up majority-black districts that have made the other districts of at least a dozen states much more Republican. It is sweet irony to use the Democrats' obsession with race against them. The Democrats can't oppose majority-minority districts. That would be "racist"!

Even after the Democrats took over the city administrations all over the country, the white majority population sat still while trillions of their hard earned tax dollars where indiscriminately funnelled into those same cities. No matter how much money was poured in, it was never enough. It is only now that the taxpayers are saying that they no longer care.
In Detroit, we have a classic example, that I am sure is not too different from St. Louis. The Governor of Michigan passed an emergency manager law with teeth, in an attempt to rescue the cities run by Democrats and populated by majority black from themselves. His hand was met with teeth. The taxpaying public is now in a mood to let them stew in their own juices, and take their ship to the bottom. No more bailouts. No more rescues. The nice thing about a democracy is that the citizens ultimately get what they vote for.

Tool ......if you do your job raising your kids you don't have shield them from the outside. The 10 comamdments is a good start......I have 2 kids one 32 and the other 28. I live in the armpit of diversity I guess I did a good job.... both are free thinkers and are pretty good with a 45 cal.
Parrents are the key to raising productive smart offspring. Comming from an Italian backround I have to say my dad was key in the way my brother and I were raised.
I tried to pass these lessons on to my kids and hope they pass what they learned on to theirs.
PS.. Liberal culture is everywhere your kids need to get there feet wet....you won't be there forever to protect them.

Just offhand, I can remember Kenny Hahn, our Los Angeles city councilman who represented an overwhelmingly black district for more than 20 years. Representative Steve Cohen from Tennessee is white and has been elected twice from a majority black district. In April, Stacey Head, a white was elected to the New Orleans city council despite the majority-black electorate. In fact, white Mitch Landreau was elected Mayor of New Orleans, a city with a 61% black majority.
There are others, I'm sure, but it's hard to make a case that white districts are more likely to elect black representatives than black districts are to elect white representatives.

I am saddened by TLP's repeated comments, and sincerely hope that people don't think this is the discourse that my husband hopes to promote. TLP, if you would stick with fact, that would be one thing. But the majority of the words you have written here (16 posts, talk about someone needing a hobby) are opinion. You list a couple of statistics about the criminal justice system. You note that Snookie has a TV show. Otherwise, you are expressing opinions, using inflammatory language. It is a juvenile action that you felt compelled to repeat 16 times. It is not a fact that white people kiss black people's asses. It is not a fact that Obama has always lived among black people. It is not a fact that Jamilah Nasheed is overweight.
For the record, my husband is not racist. He comments on behavior and values. TLP appears to be a straight up racist who cannot differentiate between fact and opinion.
