The Current Crisis

Of Democrats and Distractions

Who knew that Dirty Harry was this dirty!

WASHINGTON — Now it can be told. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, despite his lofty position in the United States Senate and despite being married to a very nice woman, has been having sex with a cow for at least three months, maybe more. How he met the cow I cannot say, as it would compromise extremely sensitive sources. Where he met her? Again, my lips are sealed. Nonetheless, it is time for Senator Reid to come clean about that cow. The Senate Majority Leaders said recently of Mitt Romney, the presumed Republican presidential nominee, that he “must prove that he has paid his taxes because he hasn’t.” Well Mr. Reid must prove he has not had sex with a cow. He must prove that he does not even know the cow. He must because he has and he does.

So let the senator confess his relation with the cow on the floor of the United States Senate. The same hallowed spot where he leveled his tax evasion charges against Mr. Romney. Or let him deny his relationship with the cow there on the Senate floor —though he will be lying. He is not the first man to deceive the electorate from the floor of the Senate, albeit this will be the first time such a delicate topic has been raised there. Well, too bad — he should come clean.

This election is becoming an amazing spectacle. The economy is in terrible shape. The deficits are piling up all around us, as growth remains sclerotic. President Barack Obama has offered only more of the same solutions that got us into this mess, plus higher taxes for the better off. Those taxes will only hobble the economy further and keep the federal grip on a historically unparalleled 24% to 25% of the economy. Romney, who as governor of Massachusetts and CEO of the Salt Lake City Olympics has demonstrated gifts as a turnaround artist, wants to conduct a campaign on the issues. The answer from Democrats is only distractions. Now his tax returns for ten recent years are an issue raised by a dunce. Last week the Democratic media raised another distraction, his alleged gaffes committed on his recent trip abroad.

If he paid no taxes I assume the point is that he broke the law and he should have been prosecuted. By the way, how many tax cheats have had the chutzpah to run for the presidency in recent years. As for supposed gaffes, who was it that told us once freed from the Teleprompter that, “If you’ve been successful, you didn’t get there on your own. You didn’t get there on your own. I’m always struck by people who think, well, it must be because I was just so smart. There are a lot of smart people out there. It must be because I worked harder than everybody else…. If you’ve got a business you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen….” Yes that was President Obama speaking, a man for whom we might invent the term gaffable, if we had not already invented the term for his vice president, Joe Biden.

Yet there is no reason to restrict the word gaffable to Biden. That Obama would attempt to make another man’s supposed gaffes an issue is rather astounding. In Hawaii our President said, “When I meet with world leaders, what’s striking — whether it is in Europe or here in Asia…” To a Memorial Day crowd he yawped, “On this Memorial Day, as our nation honors its unbroken line of fallen heroes — and I see many of them in the audience here today — our sense of patriotism is particularly strong.” From the campaign trail he made the inscrutable geographical blunder, “I’ve now been in 57 states — I think one left to go.” In Strasbourg, France, he confected the little-known language of Austrian when he said, “I don’t know what the term is in Austrian.” I could go on. On the Internet there are whole pages created detailing this President’s gaffes.

Yet Romney shoves off to Europe and questions the Olympics’ security in London. A Romney aide mentions our shared “Anglo-Saxon heritage” before a shocked American press — and the oaf Roger Simon, in Politico, plays the race card, commenting with feigned irony: “A black guy just isn’t a member of our club and never will be.” Finally in Israel Romney asseverates, “If you could learn anything from the economic history of the world, it’s this: culture makes all the difference.” These are the lines that the media call gaffes. In truth there was nothing wrong with the aforementioned statements. Romney speaks English and cites truth. Obama without benefit of a Teleprompter lapses into bibble-babble.

Oh, and by the way, Senator Reid: I was just making a harmless joke — ha, ha.

It's always fun to watch the leftover Kids from the Sixties go down flailing, although there are times I wish someone would invent some new four-letter words; I am so tired of those same two over and over again. Someday my great-grandchildren will ask me "Why did you guys vote for Obama again?" and I will be both proud and relieved to state that I personally did not vote for him, and to remind the kids that voting for someone because you think he's cool and he can read words other people have written for him (YOU DIDN'T WRITE THAT! SOMEBODY ELSE DID THAT FOR YOU!) is generally a bad idea.

Aristocat| 8.9.12 @ 7:51AM

Democrats are really scraping the bottom of the barrel by making Dingy Harry their spokesman just because his lies are protected by Senate rules.

TLP| 8.9.12 @ 8:59AM

"What does it profit a man, to gain the whole world, and lose his immortal soul?"

Indeed.

"Thou Shalt Not Bear False Witness."

"Thou Shalt Not Covet."

I can't imagine a Worse Human Being, than this little CROOK, out there in Vegas. He obviously has no Love in his Heart. Only Blind Ambition, Greed, and a Lust for Power.

He's made Multi Million$ on a Salary of $170,000 a year. He's been Connected with the Vegas Mobs for Decades. His hands run red, with the blood of those HE'S CHEATED.

He's out there trying to Destroy a Good Man, who never did a dishonest thing in his life. A man who once Shut Down his Company for TWO WEEKS, to help search for the Missing Wife of one of his Colleagues.

He's out there TELLING LIES on the Floor of the United States Senate. He's out there with an even BIGGER POS, who's Lying about the Death of his Wife, and also Bearing False Witness, in his accusation that Romney had ANYTHING to do with her Death.

This is the Democrat Party.

HE WON'T PASS A BUDGET, but he'll bear False Witness against, what he KNOWS to be, an Innocent Man.

There can only be one place for him, when his time comes.

I hope it was Worth It, you Scumbag Piece of Sh*t.

I take Solace in the knowledge that you will PAY for what you've done.

Here's hoping that day comes SOON.

As the designated lefty, please explian how and why Reid made millions from buying property and having it re-zoned through his political contacts. He can clear this up by releasing the records dealing with the fortuitous timing of the purchases and re-zoning.
Answer with facts, if you have them, instead of your left wing talking points.

Oldefarte| 8.9.12 @ 11:07AM

Knowing that the REST OF THE STORY of "Thou Shalt Not Covet." is THY NEIGHBOR'S WIFE, but I hope you weren't informing us [in connection to the beginning of this editorial] that old Harryars was COVETING A ......COW by chance??????

Mike in N.C.| 8.9.12 @ 11:26AM

I was referring to false witness, Oldefarte, but you knew that.

He wasn't talking to you, Idiot.

He was talking to me.

In answer to what you said, O.F.

I believe that most Theologians agree that, God was talking about ALL COVETING, as in Cain and Able.

But, I still love ya.

Shipwreck

A man was washed up on a beach after a terrible shipwreck. Only a sheep and a sheepdog were washed up with him. After looking around, he realized that they were stranded on deserted island.

After being there awhile, he got into the habit of taking his two animal companions to the beach every evening to watch the sunset. One particular evening, the sky was a fiery red with beautiful cirrus clouds, the breeze was warm and gentle - a perfect night for romance.

As they sat there, the sheep started looking better and better to the lonely man. Soon, he leaned over to the sheep and put his arm around it. But the sheepdog, ever protective of the sheep, growled fiercely until the man took his arm from around the sheep. After that, the three of them continued to enjoy the sunsets together,
but there was no more cuddling.

A few weeks passed by and, lo and behold, there was another shipwreck.

The only survivor was Nancy Pelosi. That evening, the man brought Nancy to the evening beach ritual. It was another beautiful evening, red sky, cirrus clouds, a warm and gentle breeze, a perfect for a night of romance.

Pretty soon, the man started to get "those feelings" again. He fought the urges as long as he could but he finally gave in and leaned over to Nancy and told her he hadn't had sex for months. Nancy batted her eyelashes and asked if there was anything she could do for him.

He said, "Would you mind taking the dog for a walk?"

TLP| 8.9.12 @ 5:55PM

So when the cow informed Reid that he would have to wear two bags over his head instead of the usual one bag a puzzled Reid asked "whatsupwithdat." The cow informed him that if the top bag ripped the back-up bag underneath would protect her from having to see his ugly mug.

Esperado| 8.9.12 @ 7:24AM

"If you've been successful, you didn't get there on your own. "

This statement is true in more ways than one. When I think of my success, I do not take credit for all of it.

First of all, I was from a family with important contacts, and those contacts helped tremendously. In fact, I could not have created my business entirely on my own without the aid and support of many important people. It's who you know, and all of you know this.

merlin| 8.9.12 @ 8:08AM

Sure, dEsperado, we all get help. Parents? I hope so, but I don't owe the government for them. Good schools? Yes. We paid for them. A respect for honesty and truth from the Bible? Who do we owe for that? What we learned from wise/knowledgeable men thru their books? I bought the book; do I owe something to the government beyond that? Good employees? I paid them. All the benefits of our culture? The government certainly does not own that, so to whom do I pay the "culture" tax?

So, I agree with you. The sucessful did not get there on their own, but they own their success.

Now, what about us failures? Do we get a refund from the teachers that did not inspire us?

TLP| 8.9.12 @ 5:56PM

He's an Idiot.

CJW| 8.9.12 @ 11:33AM

What business is that, Esperado?

Butch| 8.9.12 @ 4:27PM

Is there a left-wing troll on this site who doesn't have an IQ of 181, a PhD in particle physics, a seven-figure annual income from a business he started himself, a 600-pound bench press, a black belt, an arsenal of guns with which he is a crack shot, a wife who looks just like Angelina Jolie, and three homes on three continents? And at the same time is immersed in guilt over his superiority, and eager to give it all to the hungry masses?

CJW| 8.9.12 @ 4:51PM

Butch
181 is the total of all the lefty trolls.

Purp| 8.9.12 @ 8:00AM

A cow? You're comparing a filthy mind (yours) with Mitt the Twit's fear of releasing his tax returns? No wonder there aren't many people on this site.
"President Barack Obama has offered only more of the same solutions that got us into this mess" - Uh, no - this mess was created by Republican policies under GW Bush. President Obama stopped the bleeding, kept us from complete collapse and has brought us this far in the face of Republican resistance.
Republicans in the Senate first and now in addition the House, block anything and everything they can to hurt this President and thereby the economy and the American people. Minority Leader Sen. Mitch McConnel himself said "Our #1 goal is to make President Obama a 1 term President" - Not Jobs are #1, not the debt is #1, not the American people are #1. The truth is there, but you all don't care I'm sure.
Why did Romney's spokesman say that eeveryone should have "RomneyCare"? Is that what RomBot truly believes? Is that why he doesn't attack his own Massachusetts health plan?
What is he hiding about his taxes? paying zero tax is not illegal, but it would be interesting to find out. Doesn't Mitty trust the American people? Will he say or do anything to be elected? Is he really a conservative? Or is he a liberal and will flip flop once again when he wins?

DTOM| 8.9.12 @ 8:09AM

Purp - it's quite simple really. Obama does everything he can to hurt this country. So the only logical response is to try to stop him.

So who is stupid, evil, and should be stopped? The one who lies about his intentions to wreck the economy or the ones who try to stop him?

Hmmmm?

DTOM

Alej| 8.9.12 @ 9:20AM

Purp prefers sheep to cows... he doesn't have to walk so far around to kiss 'em.

Purp| 8.9.12 @ 1:36PM

You're disgusting.

Boar Hunter| 8.9.12 @ 6:12PM

LOL, Funny how all you hypocrite homos get your panties in such a twist if anyone says anything about your perverted ideas, then have the nerve to act discusted when someone references a sexual behavior you disagree with.

Is this where I suggest that your feigned outrage at Alej's suggestion is because you secretly horbor lustful feelings towards livestock?

Warrior| 8.9.12 @ 8:55PM

Maybe we can lobby Barry to include bestial indulgences as part of the ACA. Health insurance companies can pay for it as part of coverage. It probably would cost less than Sandra Fluke's open leg habits. Another giant step forward because we can't take any steps backwards to moralities of earlier times, like the 50's. This logically lead us to support inter-species marriages.

Purp| 8.9.12 @ 11:26PM

I have it on good authority that Romney didn't buy that horse just so Ann could ride him in shows. Perhaps Horse-Person hookups is a conservative value?

Purp| 8.9.12 @ 11:25PM

I don't care what you say, it is your right. But Alej is disgusting. And, you're on the edge, pal.

PolishKnight| 8.9.12 @ 9:34AM

As you know, Purp, Obama "feared" for years to release his birth certificate and continues to fear releasing his school records. It's a clear double standard and another cheap leftist shot at hoping to lure naive undecided voters including these scams:

"Vote Democrat! They care about the middle class! That's you! (Unless you're not a welfare recipient or government employee or cronie. Then we laugh at you as trailer park trash. Shhhh!)

"Vote Democrat! We'll get the rich!" (Except for all their cronies they take kickbacks from via comfy government contracts and deals.)

"Vote Democrat! We'll stop OUTSOURCING!" (Except for illegal immigrants and tours around the world bashing America as filled with lazy, racist workers who deserve to have their jobs taken away from. Look at how Europe loves us! Send over some stimulus money to build the windmills!)

And this is largely the ad campaign response that Romney is engaging in and not the lame one that McCain threw. And the Democrats are worried. As they should be.

Purp| 8.9.12 @ 1:41PM

And, yet, Romney is losing ... strange how the tricks don't play well when you have a stiff for a candidate, huh?
Shouldn't he be far, far ahead if your little right wing mythological world was correct?
Republican policies put is in the mess we started with in 2008 and they have done everything to stop the President's policies from working. The American people know that, Romney is arrogant, has a tin-ear, and has a history of appealing to the rich at the expense of the middle class. At this point, he is failing to connect and it's almost over. All he has left to do now is flub the Convention and his VP pick and he's history.
The next 3 weeks should decide the election.

Drunken Sailor| 8.9.12 @ 3:27PM

If Obama is so great shouldn't he be far, far ahead? I mean Romney hasn't even started spending his money on campaign ads yet and he is running neck and neck with Obaba, who last I read was spending more than he was taking in.

If Obama and his policies are so great why has Romney outraised him in campaign donations 3 months running?

If Obama is so great why have Goldman and Sachs switched the majority of their donations to the Republican ?
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/.....m-too.html

Drunken Sailor| 8.9.12 @ 3:52PM

Should have previewed this.
Should have read "Goldman Sachs and GE switched the majority of their donations"

Purp| 8.9.12 @ 11:29PM

Romney is not liked, not wanted, and you're stuck with him. Too bad, so sad. The President it ahead when all indications are he should be far, far behind.
You can't put lipstick on this pig. Romney is still a greedy, greasy pig feeding off the misery of other peoples troubles to make his money.

The Bruce| 8.9.12 @ 11:45PM

Jimmy Carter was ahead in all the polls in 1980 right up until election day. And if you look at how this week's polls are skewed, there's two things you'll find:

A) The polls are of registered voters (not nearly as likely as LIKELY voters.

B) Their are 10% more registered Democrats in the samples.

Keep dreaming, Purp.

PolishKnight| 8.9.12 @ 3:49PM

Er, Purp, the election hasn't been held yet and from what I've read, it's running "neck and neck" in polls that have usually been conservative (pardon the pun) in estimating conservative strength. So he's hardly losing.

Regarding the "stiff for a candidate". If he was more loose and friendly, you'd be calling him a friendly dunce like they did with GWB or Reagan. So no biggie there. The problem with the "everything is GW's fault!" is that this isn't the FDR era anymore and it's hard to convince people to eat pork and beans for 20 years with that line. But Good luck!

Yeah yeah yeah, there you go with the "middle class" spin again. In other words, the "middle class" has wised up and knows that the left means "working class" as "welfare class" (Gotta love that Romney commercial regarding Obama's letting welfare recipients get checks without working, eh? I'm sure the "middle class" will LOVE THAT! Tee hee!) What you mean by middle class, of course, are government union workers and race cronies. And the middle class knows it. Nice try though.

While you may feel good as a cheerleader, I'm a bit more philosophical. I wouldn't write off either candidate in the next three weeks and see this going until election day, as it should. But... perhaps Obama is thinking like you because his latest ad campaign comes across as desperation. Really? Romney causes cancer? Hilarious.

Purp| 8.9.12 @ 11:33PM

The only demographic that supports Romney in large numbers are older white men - like you. You're afraid to vote for the "Nanny" Party. But the "Daddy" party couldn't kill Bin Laden, killed our economy while they got rich and now want to blame the Democrat that hasn't fixed their huge mess yet.
But not all white men, 'cause I don't support Mitt the Twit.
Keep on believin' in the fake Conservative Rombot who never puts down his RomneyCare, was progay, pro choice and is a Mormon cult leader. And you thought McCain was bad? Oh, my. :)

Boar Hunter| 8.9.12 @ 6:13PM

Latest poll shows Romney up by 4 dim-wit.

Purp| 8.9.12 @ 11:33PM

Latest poll shows Obama up by 7, stupidhead.

George True| 8.9.12 @ 2:46PM

Specifically, what legislation did Bush 43 sign into law, or what legislation did he veto, that led to the meltdown of the economy? Did he usurp the law and use executive powers to enact policy in federal departments that led to the economic downturn, and if so, what were they?

You have no answer, because nothing you say is true, and thus cannot be substantiated with actual FACTS.

Obama made the recession, which was caused by a number of bubbles that NOTHING to do with Bush, into a full blown DEPRESSION, through his sad devotion to Keynesianism, which has utterly failed wherever and whenever it has bveen tried.

You are as uninformed of a troll as I have ever seen. You come here and attempt (unsuccessfully) to spread disinformation in an effort to justify a doctrine of cultural Marxism, which at its core is theft,, tyranny, and force.

Purp| 8.9.12 @ 11:36PM

No, but it's not my job to inform you. That's your job. You have a one-sided theoretical right wing mythology and you're sticking to it. So be it. Don't bother explaining anymore.
You want the government to not take your money. Name one government that EVER existed without doing that? Come on Brainiac, name one.

ebonystone| 8.10.12 @ 12:33PM

Sorry, but "this mess was created by" left-wing Democrats.
First the economic mess --due to the ever-increasing and expanding "entitlements" created by Dems, of which Obamacare is only the latest increment, and which now soak up 75% of federal expenditures, and to the destruction of the banks by federal laws forcing them to make loans to deadbeats.
Second, the energy mess: the Dems have consistently obstructed efforts to make the U.S. less dependent on imported energy -- from the opposition to nuclear plants in the 80's through to cancellation of pipelines and off-shore drilling.

WRTolkas| 8.9.12 @ 8:04AM

Dear Mr. Tyrrell:

Dingy Harry the weasel is just following Lyndon Johnson's playbook: "Accuse him of having sex with a pig and wait to see his response."

Von Mises Jr| 8.9.12 @ 8:16AM

BULL. I don't mean bull paddies. I mean Dingy Harry's lover was not a cow.
But on a serious note, Von Mises argues in "Omnipotent Government" (don't worry, I am almost finished this book and have others to read) that the Aryan race and the Jewish race are fallacious concepts. There is no way to tell a German of the early twentieth century from a Norwegian, Pole or Frenchman genetically or by visual traits. Likewise it is impossible to tell a Jew from genetics. So the whole "superior race" issue in Nazi Germany is a farce.
The nationality of the homogeneous European peoples was only discernible by their idiom (that means language DRedful). And Jews were only identifiable in Germany if their parents or they went to Synagogue.
So what is the point? That socialist divided by race for discrimination and extermination even when there was no racial component. It was simply a device to label and discriminate against a target, a "Bokonon."
So the socialist in America think that they hit the jackpot since there really are identifiable races in the melting pot of the U.S.
But to make their make-believe convention work, they must label all blacks as one, all Hispanics as the same and Whites need to be segregated and exterminated on their religion: socialism or liberty loving Americans.
This is why Dr. Thomas Sowell, Hon. Clarence Thomas, and soon Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz will be unbearable to them. They are traitors to the socialist fake conventions.

Purp| 8.9.12 @ 1:42PM

Blather again?

Von Mises Jr| 8.9.12 @ 3:09PM

I didn't expect any trolls to get it. It was written for the literate and educated.

DRed| 8.9.12 @ 3:37PM

Socialists, Von. Unless you're talking about one specific socialist.

"But to make their make-believe convention work, they must label all blacks as one, all Hispanics as the same and Whites need to be segregated and exterminated on their religion: socialism or liberty loving Americans."

That sentence is jibberish, by the way.

John Navratil| 8.9.12 @ 9:18PM

DRed,

"That sentence is jibberish, by the way."

Such gibberish ;)

Von Mises Jr| 8.10.12 @ 5:44AM

John,
Socialism is "a theory or system of social organization" according to Webster's, not a person. But this is all liberal morons such as DRed have to argue: whether you spelled a word correct.
Perp was so enthralled with himself when I cited my son graduating simma cum laude, instead of summa since I hit the "i" instead of the "u" that is next to it and did not catch it before I hit "submit."
It is another example of their inability to use logic, or some polylogism" that is a different logic for every argument, time and place.
So sad.
I guess Perp changed his name back to DRed to reply since he had no rebuttal. You and I have both caught them using multiple names. Perp is the so-called intellectual troll, then changes names to DRed as the dumb troll you feel sorry for, and Twitsin and Brooksie are the obnoxious skunks. But it is all one troll.

Mike in N.C.| 8.9.12 @ 8:23AM

So, why doesn't Romney release his tax returns, prove Reid is a bald faced liar, point out the obvious, i.e. Reid is Obama's totally unscrupulous hatchet man and seal the victory for himself?

Clearly, Romney and his advisor think there is something in the returns that is more damaging than letting the suspicion that there is continue from now until the election. What is it? We already know about Romney's tax rate, about the off shore bank accounts and the fact that Romney help foreign countries avoid paying taxes to the United States. If he paid no taxes, that fact would be difficult politically. But it can be defended in a way that Americans understand. I'm wondering if Romney took advantage of the last tax amnesty program.

jothepro| 8.9.12 @ 8:47AM

You can imagine the feeding frenzy the left would have if he released them. With the media behind them they will use this issue to hurt Romney no matter what he does...

Mike in N.C.| 8.9.12 @ 8:54AM

The media is hurting him now.

TLP| 8.9.12 @ 9:18AM

Hurting him with Whom?

Not me. Not anyone who was going to vote for him, anyway.

I wonder what all of those people who have Lost their Jobs, their Businesses, and their Homes, care about.

Do ya think it's Mitt Romney's Taxes?

What about all of those THOUSANDS of Rank and File Union Guys, outta work, and shopping at the Discount Stores, because of the last 4 Years of this President's WAR ON BUISINESS?

I wonder how many Union Jobs were involved in his Illegal Drilling Moratorium, and his Cancellation of the XL Pipeline?

How many Union Jobs have been lost in his WAR on The Coal Industry?

Commercial Fishing.

Farms that can't get water.

The Hundred Thousand workers, thrown out in to the Street, when Obama FORCED over a Thousand Car Dealerships to Close their Doors.

Romney's Tax Returns?

BE A MAN!

Ya sound like somebody's b*tch.

God help us, if Mike in N.C. is any indication of what's out there.

"Why doesn't Romney just give them whatever they want? All this Confrontatinal stuff frightens me."

Is everyone in N.C. a weak, spineless panty wearing, Woman?

Or is it just you?

Mike in N.C.| 8.9.12 @ 9:45AM

To answer your question, the polls suggest a broad spectrum of Americans. When GOP party leaders call on Romney to release his return or wonder aloud why he doesn't, it likely indluences the thinking of people who are undecided and strengthens the resolved of Obama supporters.

Eagle Creek| 8.9.12 @ 11:25AM

The House has passed any number of budgets. Reid has refused to even let them come to the floor for debate. Yet the Republicans are refusing to do anything constructive?

Mike in N.C.| 8.9.12 @ 4:50PM

Political documents. These "budgets" we're not serious, in the sense of politically feasible, efforts to forge a budget. They were put out to give people like you a chance to write a post like this.

TLP| 8.9.12 @ 6:04PM

Now, you're just being a Dumbass.

I'm assuming that you're a YES, when it comes to Gay Marriage, and Gays in the Military.

Mike in N.C.| 8.9.12 @ 6:20PM

Fuck you, TLP. We've had debate all day without name calling. Stick it up your ass, you fucking cretin.

Your turn, bozo Want to engage in a constructive debate or continue this

As long as we are reinventing monikers, I put "Hoary Harry" forward. It fits even when misunderstood.

CJW| 8.9.12 @ 11:24AM

The MSN is Obama's base. What did you expect from it?

Anthony| 8.9.12 @ 8:48AM

Don't be an idiot Mike. Why should Romney play into Obozo's hands just because of Reid's dispicable comments? So Obozo's henchmen can look for more false fodder? Bullshit.
What Romney should do is take off the gloves and demand Obozo release his school records. How does a druggy get into Oxidential and then manage to transfer into Columbia? How does a student the former professor emeritus of Columbia's polly si department, which Obozo majored in, not have a recollection of Obozo? And yet Obozo then gets into Harvard Law!!!!
Can you say FOREIGN EXCHANGE STUDENT?
Hell, his own bio said he was Kenyan, so I guess Obozo is a birther as well.
I has had it with the left and their trolls. It's time for some hardball.

Mike in N.C.| 8.9.12 @ 9:10AM

School records. Well, the first thing to know is that the email that started this entire contretemps was patently wrong for one reason: it listed many documents from Obama's life that are "sealed." This is a legal term. No documents, college transcripts included have ever been sealed by a court of law. Under the Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 educational institutions are prohibited from releasing college transcripts. Obama has not released them, but here's the thing. A transcript will tell you nothing about the admissions process. Bush never released his transcripts. They were leaked, a violation of law and ethically indefensible. Your reference to a former professor is to Baron who clearly knew Obama but did not keep papers the President or any other student wrote for his course.

Anthony| 8.9.12 @ 10:25AM

Clever retort Mike, yes the transcripts will not reveal the "admission process". But they would reveal a lot of information you fail to mention.
Are college applications part of the student's file, and if so do they remain as part of the student's records? How about scholarship info? Do schools keep seperate records on foreign exchange students?
Barton is not the name I'm thinking of, but I do not have access to my office at the moment. His comment was not remembering Obozo at all, not just his writings.
Funny how Rs have their "sealed" records leaked and opened by courts, but it never seems to happen to Ds, especially ones with something to hide.
I have no doubt it's not his grades that Obozo is afraid will be revealed, it goes directly to his admission status. Besides, I'm sure those lefty profs all gave Obozo good grades, pleased with their affirmative action trophy!!!

Mike in N.C.| 8.9.12 @ 10:34AM

Doubt is a good thing to entertain until one has definitive proof.

Mike in N.C.| 8.9.12 @ 10:40AM

P.S.
Anthony, the reveal the birth certificate and records game has been played by the right almost from the day of Obamas inauguration.

Why be upset that Reid is playing the same game. From my point of view, he took too long joining the game. Of course, it would be better for both sides to cease and desist.

Stkman| 8.9.12 @ 11:25AM

Mike,
You do understand it was Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign that first brought up these issues don't you? I think that says it all.

Mike in N.C.| 8.9.12 @ 11:32AM

Yeah, both sides gleefully grab what works from the other. The GOP primaries have given the Democrats a treasure trove.

CJW| 8.9.12 @ 11:36AM

Actually, Kenya is demanding the release of Obama's birth certificate to prove he was born in Hawaii.

Anthony| 8.9.12 @ 11:41AM

Oh, so you equate a legitimate argument about Obozo's origin with an outright lie about Romney not paying taxes for 10 years.
Is that how you lefties play the game of moral equilivance and everybody does it? You equate a actual concern , perpetuated by Obozo himself, with a vile lie, all's equal, let's move on!!!
What a crock Mike, you should be ashamed but you have no shame.
BTW what if Romney had a publisher and his bio read British born? How you lefties would howl with indignation until Romney had the university president reveal the records in prime time.
Hell you all made McLame prove his natural born citizenship, or have you forgotten?
Both sides should cease and desist. Spare us. Which side is spreading lies and which side is asking and raising genuine questions, troll?

Tim, stop being a willfully ignorant jackass. I know you really, really, really want Obama to be a secret Indonesian, but he's not. Man up and deal with it.

CJW| 8.9.12 @ 8:19PM

The issue is what citizenship he put on his college application to get admitted and have the tuition paid, and not what his real citizenship may be. He could clear this up easily by releasing the applications for college and law school and the financial info on tuition payment. What does he have to hide?

John Navratil| 8.9.12 @ 9:30PM

DRed,

You link assumes a person of majority. Each paragraph states the actions must be taken after reaching the age of eighteen. No on says Obama renounced his citizenship.

John Navratil| 8.9.12 @ 9:28PM

DRed,

Not quite so. As a minor one's citizenship is controlled by one's parents and Barry's parents may (or may not - I'm not claiming it) have obtained Indonesian citizenship for him. Were he able to claim U.S. citizenship by birth, he would be able to do so for himself once he reached the age of majority. Absent doing so, he would not be assumed to be a U.S. citizen.

I am not Czech, but through my father I am able to apply for Czech citizenship.

DRed| 8.9.12 @ 10:06PM

Hi John,

Obama was born to a US citizen on US soil. That makes him a citizen by birth. Even if he had become and Indonesian citizen somehow (I have no idea how Indonesian citizenship laws work), it wouldn't matter. The Supreme court has said when a person is a citizen at birth, "that citizenship must be deemed to continue unless [the child] has been deprived of it through the operation of a treaty or congressional enactment or by [the child's] voluntary action in conformity with applicable legal principles." Obama wouldn't have to claim citizenship. The law is slightly different when a child is born to naturalized citizens who take the child back to their birth country and renounce their American citizenship, but that doesn't apply to Obama.

DRed| 8.9.12 @ 10:08PM

The language I quoted is from a case called Perkins v. Elg, by the way, if you'd like to read it yourself.

Get back to us when Barry releases his college transcripts. But anyway, re tax returns, Romney has fulfilled the legal requirement. Why should he release more? It would be stupid in the extreme to give the proglodytes more to dig through and distract us all from the real issues. Get Pelosi and Reed to release theirs. How did Reed become a millionaire on a public salary again?

irish19| 8.9.12 @ 4:08PM

Exactly correct.

CJW| 8.9.12 @ 10:20AM

purpie/mike
So why doesnt Obama release the records about:

1. How he got an earmark of one million dollar to a Chicago hospital so Michele got a raise from $100,000 per year to $350,000 per year?

2. How Chicago felon Rezko paid towards Obama's house?

3. obama's college and law school application to show if he applied as a foreign student and how/who paid for his tuition.

Mike in N.C.| 8.9.12 @ 12:31PM

Lets take each in turn, CJW.
The salary: Your information comes from an anonymous right wing propaganda email (they are always anonymous) that got some essentials in a National Review column wrong. In 2005 Michelle Obama was promoted and received a sizeable salary increase. This is not uncommon. The anonymous email claimed she was earning more than $300,000 for a 20 hour work week. This was not in the National Review column and it is not true. As a Senator, Obama requested money to build a pavilion at the University of Chicago Medical Center. There is absolutely no proof that Obama said "promote my wife and I'll send you $1 million dollars." Now, was Michelle's boss, Michael Riordan, unaware or uncaring of to whom Michelle was married. He is a fool is such is the case, but that is a far cry from an illegal transaction. Maybe, more in the vein of Rick Perry crony capitalism.

Rezko. Bad dude. Fund raiser and operative for both political parties. Raised a ton of money for George W. Bush in 2003 (Yeah, the Texas-Illinois connection). Did not pay for the Obama's home. They Obama's purchased 1/6 of a lot owned by Rezko's wife for 1/6 of the price she paid for it. She's not a very shrewd business woman.

College anad law school applications. Birther nonsense, pure and simple.

CJW| 8.9.12 @ 12:57PM

Wrong again, purpie/mike.
You admitted she received the raise after the earmark. You point is there is no document stating "give Michelle a raise after the earmark?"
Are you serious? I did not say a 20 hour work week, poor attempt at diversion .

Rezko's wife is not a shrewd and therefoe she just happened to pay 6 times more than Obama paid? You are a riot.
As for the applications, no answer. Stonewall, and label it nonsense. Tyypical lefty avoidance of the facts.

Purp| 8.9.12 @ 1:56PM

You're okay with RomneyCare then and if Romney paid ZERO taxes for 10 years?

PolishKnight| 8.9.12 @ 4:05PM

Are you OK with Harry Reid not paying his? Poor Democrats: they don't know what the meaning of the word hypocrite is otherwise they could avoid so obviously looking like one. This isn't going to get traction with independent voters. Bark up another tree.

In the meantime, despite the birther Seinfeld style slur, Obama did act pretty sleazy with how he refused to release his birth certificate for years and how he seems more comfortable in Europe and Kenya than in the 57 states. There ARE no doubt independent voters who were turned off by him that stayed home in 2008 but GW's massive unpopularity made that irrelevant. Then. I myself don't think the birther issue is constitutionally useful (he gets his citizenship naturally from his white mother) and we have a flaky S.C. anyway who might agree. But politically... who knows? Especially with $4 Obamagas and 16% effective unemployment.

Anyway, it would be surprising if there wasn't kickbacks going on with Obama's wife's salary, etc. It's Chicago after all and that's the third world crony Detroit/Chicago/Newark system the Dems are building, not Sweden. Gotta have a limosine to be one of those liberals... (get it?)

Purp| 8.9.12 @ 11:41PM

Only Romney is running for President. I have nothing to say about Reid, he just won his re-election anyway.
Who ever asked a President to release his birth certificate? I would have told you all to go to hell.
He released it and you still don't shut up. Nothing will ever satisfy the hate urge you have. But you'll have to bite your tongue for another 4 years I'm afraid.
Get off the Chicago crap - corruption exists where ever there are people. Aren't you an adult yet?
You think Texas, Arizona, Alabama, Florida are hotbeds of sainthood? Puhlease ... you aint' paying attention.

CJW| 8.9.12 @ 4:13PM

Prove it purpie.
Mitt paid 3 million in the two returns he relased.
I am still laughing at your comments that your tax rate will go from 0% to 8%. Because I pointed out to you that the 10% rate would be reduced by 20% to 8% in Romney's plan, you wrote that then your 0% would go to 8% so that the poooor would pay more under Romney.
Are you ok with the known facts that Michele got a raise from our tax dollars and Rezko paid for Obama's house?

Purp| 8.9.12 @ 11:44PM

No where in Romney's plan is there provision for anyone making too little to pay tax. If 8% is the lowest rate, that's what the poorest among us will pay. Try HARDER.
You already were answered on both accounts for your bs right wing myths - not be me though. As if truth matters. It's promoting the lies you righties always do. The fact the left has learned how to do it too just burns your biscuits doesn't it? Tough. You asked for it. You dish it out, you have to take it too.

Mike in N.C.| 8.9.12 @ 2:24PM

Mike in N.C.| 8.9.12 @ 2:20PM

No, I do not admit that she receive the raise after the earmark. Here is the sequence of events. Obama was elected to the Senate in 2004. Michelle's promotion came in 2005. Obama made a request for funds for the UC Medical Center in 2006. It was one of many funding projects requested by Obama. The refund was rejected by Congress, along with many others .

The Obamas paid Mrs. Rezko for 1/6 of a parcel of land adjoining their property. They paid her 1/6 of Rezko's purchase price for the entire parcel. She made no profit on the transaction.

I did not assert that you said anything about a 20 hour work week. I was simply giving you facts. There was no diversion on my part.

The transcripts are birther nonsense. When I give you facts, you misconstrue and distort what I wrote,

PolishKnight| 8.9.12 @ 4:07PM

Yet... Obama continues to hide the transcripts. Most people are proud of them. I agree, it's probably "birther nonsense." The truth is more likely that Obama was just an affirmative action (nonqualified) quota placement that squeaked his way through and he's too embarrassed to admit it.

Mike in N.C.| 8.9.12 @ 4:58PM

Doubtful, but could be. If so, the President certainly is a higher calibre affirmative action student than Clarence Thomas.

CJW| 8.9.12 @ 4:16PM

Don't care about his grades on the transcripts, they are probably mediocre, but better than Biden graduating 91 out of 96. The issue is the applications that show how he applied and who paid. Trying to divert attention again.

What is your source for the Rezko deal?

Mike in N.C.| 8.9.12 @ 4:52PM

Annenberg Project's Fact Check.

CJW| 8.9.12 @ 5:05PM

Obama also involved Rezko in a house deal after he was elected to the U.S. Senate, a move he later called “a boneheaded mistake,” according to a 2008 report in ABC News.

Obama wanted to purchase a home that the seller had a specific condition on: the adjacent empty lot to the house had to be purchased at the same time, ABC News reported. In the house deal, Rezko’s wife paid the full asking price for that parcel, $625,000.

Obama shelled out $300,000 under the house’s asking price, paying $1.65 million, according to ABC News. Obama then purchased a part of Rezko’s lot for $104,500.

“It was a mistake to have been engaged with him at all in this or any other personal business dealing that would allow him, or anyone else, to believe he had done me a favor,” Obama told the Sun-Times at the time.

Obama said his connection to Rezko was “above board and legal.”

Rezko and others connected to him gave Obama’s 2004 Senate campaign more than $120,000, ABC News reported

Facts:
1. in 2002 Michele is hired by the Chicago hospital as "Vice President of Community Relations" at salary of $122,00. Don't ask what that means.

2. In 2005 Obama is elected US senatory. Michele is given a raise to $316,942 for same job. A coincidence. Question: how did this raise affect the cost of care and health insurance rates?

3. Obama requests an earmark of one million dollars for the hospital. A coincidence.

4. Jan 2009. Michel resigns to assume the tough job of vacationing in Spain, Hawaii, Martha's Vineyard, dinner dates in Manhattan, and other assorted events to keep in touch and serve the working people that elected Obama.

5. Oh, almost forgot, hospital eliminates Michele's job. Another coincidence. Most likely explanation is that Michele did such a great job there is no longer a need for community relations since community relations in Chicago are now excellent.

Anthony| 8.9.12 @ 8:39AM

This is who the left are. Reid, as I have said over these many months is a reprehnsible, dispicable reptile. He is scum, who apparently has not a gram left of integrity.
He Schumer, Durbin, Pelosi, Boxer, and almost every damn elected Democrat, are destructive frauds ready willing and able to take down America as their final act before they green compost .
Obozo's campaign has direct ties to the dispicable ad run by Obozo's superpac essentially saying Romney caused a man's wife to die of cancer.
Not only was Romney long gone, the woman had health insurance for years after Romney left Bain. Yet we know Obozo and Holder under their direct policy of Fast & Furious are directly responsible for the deaths of Two American agents and 100s of Mexicans. How's that for an accurate Romney ad?
This is bullshit, and it's time we Americans took the gloves off and started kicking some lefty ass.
If they want to destroy America then it's time we had a good ole, knock down, draggedout fight.
These bastards are pushing us to fight, so hell, let's oblige them.

Jacob McCandles| 8.9.12 @ 11:08AM

Well put. Romney needs to get pissed off and let people know it. I know he has some fight in him, but he's pansy assing around. Hopefully he's saving it for the debates.

PolishKnight| 8.9.12 @ 3:56PM

The problem is that the left has a friendly media and will take anything Romney says or does out of context. If he gets upset even for legitimate reasons, they'll edit that segment with him picking up a baby and put in on the Daily Show and SNL and act like it really happened.

So when working with that disadvantage, it's better to let your surrogates do the work for you (even Obama with his friendly press lets them carry the ball sometimes.) Let the superpacs put out successful ads either refuting, or better yet, turning Obama's arguments against him. One of the talking point narratives was outsourcing. I saw a Romney ad in Virginia a week ago showing that Obama sent the stimulus money over to China to make windmills. Touche!!!

This is an election largely for Romney to lose and Obama, and Purp, know it. "Hope and change" is a joke (unless you like paying twice as much for gasoline) and blaming GW is so old since the war is no longer an issue. Now it's Obama's policies themselves including lousy private sector employment numbers and high gas prices (did I mention the high gas prices? :-) I would love to see Romney make an ad where it shows Obama's smug face and the sound of a gas pump going "ding ding ding" because everytime people filled up they'd see his smug face as their money goes to Saudi Arabia.

The fact that the Repubs are complaining about Reid now leaves me cold. Where was the GOP in 2010 when he was up for reelection? Just becaausee the nominee was backed by the Tea Party movement, the not only did not support her, but actually worked against her. Now they are shocked that Reid is sticking it to them (not the cow). Suprise, suprise, suprise. I suggest that the Republican Party get serious about representing the interests of the country, and not just playing politics so as to keep their current members in jobs.

Purp| 8.9.12 @ 1:58PM

They won't - they don't have any real policies to enact. So, they just want power. To H*LL with America, I want all the money I make forever, is the Republican mantra.

George True| 8.9.12 @ 3:13PM

"I want all the money I make forever."

The rule of law is dead if private property rights are not held as sacrosanct. If someone earns their money, it is not the right of government or anyone else to steal it from them, regardless of the high-minded pretense. The left, under a doctrine of cultural Marxism, demonizes "the rich" in order to divert our attention from the fact that they are stealing all of us blind in the name of "fairness" and "social justice". And enriching themselves at the same time. Leftists, Purp, are the ultimate plunderers of the middle class. Your Keynesian follies as we speak are debasing the currency we get paid in, and debasing the purchasing power of anything we have managed to save.

The doctrine of the left is nothing but thinly disguised covetousness, which is a sin. This covetousness drives a policy of theft against all in the middle class, backed up by intimidation, thuggery, and naked force.

Who Knows?| 8.9.12 @ 11:47AM

You mean you were “cudding” about Reid sticking it to a cow?

Moo moo.

Sometimes I fantasize about time travel, so that a George Washington in his prime could be instantly transported to our reality. My guess is, if he were to be able to read and hear the Obama-Reid-Pelosi Axis of “Evil” on a regular basis, he’d likely be driven nuts.

Even thinking of my mother and father, born 1910 and 1915 respectively, who hated FDR, after only about 30 years since passing, realizing what has happened to our political class---they’d be blow away! They’d immediately realize the hippies had won, and essentially most everybody is always stoned.

You get the government you deserve.

That’s why, basically, most people in their heart view ALL politicians with the same attitude they had when they first had to, or got to, vote for or against someone---say in the eighth grade, for class president. Lessons ARE learned, even by the slow witted!

Ah, but, are they remembered?

Time passes, elements enter the body AND mind, are processed, and eliminated---so, the “holding on” ego resembles a skier gliding down the slopes, with an avalanche of words covering them deeper and deeper.

Who wants out?

What I can't understand about Reid is why haven't the Church General Authorities in Salt Lake begun excommunication procedings against him?

Mike in N.C.| 8.9.12 @ 12:44PM

Maybe they aren't as rigidly ideological and authoritarian as some think they are.

tgriz| 8.9.12 @ 12:56PM

That is true, but when you look at the entire history of Harry Reid, it appears that it would warrant a Bishop's Court.

WhiteBikerTrash| 8.9.12 @ 1:21PM

Sir, your information is a little off. Reid's "Pet Partner" is not a cow! It is a young emaciated sheep that he has moved to the state of Washington. He keeps it under 40Lbs so as to not break state laws on his visits. The sheep is generally known as BaaaBy. Harry is known as one of those guys from the other Washington. There are a lot of Democrat's lovers kept around here.

Mike in N.C.| 8.9.12 @ 2:28PM

You chose your screen name well, WhiteBikerTrash.

CaneCutter| 8.9.12 @ 1:27PM

I was in Las Vegas last week and heard from a "very reliable source," that Harry Reid is a pervert and a child molester. Since he hasn't refuted this claim, I assume it's true.

davelnaf| 8.9.12 @ 2:44PM

If November goes the way 2010 did Reid’s out of a job as Senate majority leader and then the stink of having this slimeball in this leadership position begins to go away. So, he jumped at the chance after O’s campaign people were turned down by the lesser dem slimeballs to run with this lie. It’s unlikely that the voters that shellacked the dems last time around are going be brainwashed by this garbage. More than likely it’ll motivate them to shellack the dems all over again.

Harry Callahan: I know what you're thinking. "Did he fire six shots or only five?" Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement I kind of lost track myself. But being as this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?
"It's a question of methods. Everybody wants results, but nobody wants to do what they have to do to get them done."
You really *are* a dirty bastard, ain't you, Harry?
Harry Callahan: The dirtiest.

The media tolerates no end of birther nonsense and other paranoid fantasies from the right, but let Harry Reid accuse Mitt Romney of not paying his taxes and all hell breaks loose. Michelle Goldberg recently explored this double standard.

"For the past four years, various Republican officials have speculated that Barack Obama might be the foreign-born perpetrator of an elaborate biographical hoax, and thus not a legitimate president.

"Among them were several senators, including Oklahoma’s Jim Inhofe, who was quoted in Politico saying that the birthers 'have a point.'

"Later, in a statement, he added, 'The White House has not done a very good job of dispelling the concerns of these citizens.'

"More recently, several Republican congressmen, led by Michele Bachmann, have demanded an investigation into Muslim Brotherhood infiltration into the Obama administration. While some in the party have denounced her, Mitt Romney adviser John Bolton came to her defense, asking, 'What is wrong with raising the question?'

"Yet... Harry Reid’s suggestion that Romney might have avoided paying taxes has roused establishment pundits to fits of pearl-clutching horror."

When running for governor of Massachusetts, Mitt Romney asked his opponent (Senator Ted Kennedy) to release all of his tax returns.

Why the hypocrisy?

Drunken Sailor| 8.9.12 @ 4:34PM

Your comparing Romneys tax returns (not required torun for President) to Oboma proving he is a US citizen (definite requirement)?

Nice straw man.

And Harry Reid didn't "suggest" he stated he had a reliable source and that Romney did not pay taxes in the last 10 years. In effect accusing him of a crime (unless your a Democrat politician).

And as for his demanding Ted Kennedy release his tax returns when running for govenor. That also is required to prove you are a resident of the state.

You have a nice pile of strawmen there.

cuban pete| 8.9.12 @ 4:48PM

My recollection is Romney's opponent was Shannon O'Brien. I never knew Teddy gave up his position as "Lion of the Senate" to run for governor.
Anyway, Ted's tax returns would be the least interesting thing he could release.

You democrats must be so PROUD!

Arbiter55| 8.9.12 @ 5:57PM

Here's my humble suggestion for a Romney TV ad that could get more people laughing at Obama. Narcissists hate being laughed at, I'm told. Anyway, what I'm describing in this proposed ad is true, according to David Maranniss' book. Hey, I'm not a professional screenwriter, so cut me some slack on the formatting.

FADE IN: Reggae-themed music plays as a small Toyota cruises erratically down a road in Hawaii. Diamond Head is visible in the background. "May 1979" appears at the top center of the screen.

NARRATOR (someone sounding like Don LaFontaine, in a bemused tone, somewhat like Jack Nicholson asking about Batman's "toys"): "Where did his empty-headed liberal ideas come from"?

The car stops, all four windows are rolled down by the occupants, profuse amounts of pot smoke billow from said windows and we hear one occupant (in Obama's voice) holler "Intercepted", while another occupant yells "Barry, don't bogart that joint"!

FADE OUT: Pot smoke billows upward, obscuring the Toyota and engulfing the entire picture.

Hey, it could work!

JamesDrouin| 8.9.12 @ 7:18PM

It's going to get far, far, FAR uglier as the mentally retarded left wing liberal Democrats become ever more desperate.

Has a motion to censure Harry Reid been initiated? If not, it needs to be.

""If you've been successful, you didn't get there on your own. You didn't get there on your own. I'm always struck by people who think, well, it must be because I was just so smart. There are a lot of smart people out there. It must be because I worked harder than everybody else…. If you've got a business you didn't build that. Somebody else made that happen…." Yes that was President Obama speaking, a man for whom we might invent the term gaffable, if we had not already invented the term for his vice president, Joe Biden."

You are not just a fraud, you are a damn fraud. You cut out the relevant portion which changes the whole meaning.

The bad news is, your adherents are not bright enough to recognize that ... means you left something out.

Bob From District 9| 8.12.12 @ 8:58AM

"If he paid no taxes I assume the point is that he broke the law and he should have been prosecuted. "

Your assumption is your straw man.

silenceisconsent | 8.12.12 @ 7:56PM

Reid introduced an Immigration Stabilization Act in 1993 to revoke birthright citizenship, reduce legal immigration to 300,000 etc noting that U.S. was "becoming overcrowded." Voting record is F-. See www.howmanyAmericans.com. Also interesting report on "What is a Latino?" Thanks for great articles.
