Media Matters

Obama’s Mamas

Protecting their wondrous child at every turn.

There’s one thing I love about recent Democratic presidents; or should I say, the treatment they receive at the hands of those in the national press who worship at their feet. Before their elections, in the interminable months leading up to their nominations, we are inundated with innumerable references to their vast and nuanced intellectual capacities, lovesongs to their honesty, paeans to their eloquence and tributes to the crystal clear transparency of their administrations; should they deign to bless us with same.

But soon after the inauguration, the media quickly switch from their roles as lionizers to deodorizers; cleaning up after their idols like a mother who follows her children around with wet naps to tidy up any embarrassing accidents her little darlings might inflict on society. It’s hard to decide which is worse: their tortured defense of Democrat duplicity or their steadfast refusal to acknowledge it.

It really began with Bill Clinton. The media never blinked an eye at such glaring evasions as “it depends what the meaning of the word ‘is’ is.” And where was the outrage when the draft-dodger-in-chief scaled the heights of hypocrisy with his pernicious claim of executive privilege based on his being head of the military? And what about his various and sundry exploitations of women? You could almost hear them clucking with maternal pride, “Poor little Billy… always in trouble! Well, after all, everybody does it!”

And now they are tasked with marshalling along the career of their latest offspring, Barack Obama; truly the product of their laudatory and worshipful propaganda. We are constantly reminded that he is a paragon of truth and master of elocution, who has but to toss his teleprompter onto the stage to vanquish any and all who dare challenge his abilities as a master communicator and wizard of wordplay. Yet, when this orator of Churchillian proportions speaketh the words “If you’ve got a business, you didn’t build that,” his guardians feel the need to change his diapers, as it were.

Of course the first and most predictable response from the media was the thunderous howling that it was taken out of context. Unlike say, the sound of crickets that accompanied a quote that was pointedly and purposely manipulated: Andrea Mitchell’s blatant re-editing of Mitt Romney’s speech at a Wawa restaurant. In this age of 24/7 blogging and cell phone cameras, it’s amazing that the media are so arrogant as to think they can still get away with this nonsense. But such is the impenetrable attitude of Dan Rather and his acolytes.

But what of Obama’s actual statement? Can it be that he actually meant what he said in exactly the way he said it? Absolutely. Smooth talking socialists like Obama are fond of pointing out the benefits of building upon common achievements but fail to credit the people or ideas upon which the original structures were founded. They want prosperity for all, but sneer at the market capitalism that has historically produced it; they claim to love freedom, but have little use for our soldiers who defend it; and they are fond of professing love for the rule of law when their radical agenda is advanced by our legal system, but ridicule the religious tenets upon which it is based.

In short, liberal politicians are closely mirrored by their canonizers in the press who proudly cite their First Amendment protections while ignoring those of the rest of us and claim as their divine right an aura of impartiality, while failing miserably to live up to the integrity of their predecessors of only a few short decades ago. And given their lack of on-the-ground research coupled with their unholy reliance on secondary and tertiary sources, they have become little more than op-ed writers posing as real journalists.

But let us not question their work ethic. After all, with the Democratic convention only a few weeks away and tons of exposure for Mr. Biden and Mr. Obama in the offing, there’s plenty of babysitting to be done. After all, a man may work from sun to sun but a mother’s work is never done.

Obama is the bastard son of an African Muslim polygamist (bigamist) and an American anti-white Communist who renounced her US citizenship. Obama Sr. was kicked out of the US by Harvard for having too many wives.

DTOM| 8.1.12 @ 8:56AM

Hey! Which reminds me, I heard Sarah Palin on Fox the other day say that the Muslim "faith" restricts marriage to one man and one woman. Would somebody please remind Mrs. P that the Muslim "faith" says marriage is between one man and up to FOUR women, and that any of the slaves the Muslim man owns can be used in ANY way, male or female, no matter what the meaning of is "is".

I really don't think Mrs. Palin ought to be seeking assistance in the same sex "marriage" debate from the holey Koran.

I'm just sayin'...

DTOM

Holey, not holy, Koran-you betcha!

MK48| 8.1.12 @ 10:57AM

Dtom......you forgot about how the muslim men pray on little boys...........and thoes boys at adult age pray on other little boys.......sick very sick.

Pelleas| 8.2.12 @ 8:04PM

WHAT'S wrong with "praying" on little boys??-- maybe they find them sacred, no???

ROTFLMAO......!!

DID you MEAN...PREYING??--

What MORONS you wacked -out wing-nuts are.....!!

Occam's Tool| 8.2.12 @ 12:29AM

Liberal journalists have the same morality as Malpractice Plaintiff attorneys and child molestors (and those who support child molestation, like Jack)---scum and vermin.

My encounters with them have left me nauseated, especially the vermin at the Owensboro Messenger Inquirer.

Pelleas| 8.2.12 @ 7:54PM

"BASTARD SON"...??-- his parents WERE MARRIED TO EACH OTHER....

"AMERICAN ANTI-WHITE.."??-- what is that batshit craziness based on, in REALITY?

YOU ARE A REAL ARISTOCRAT- OF STUPIDITY..!!

Appleby| 8.1.12 @ 6:56AM

Talk about a war on women; Bill Clinton could hold classes.

DTOM| 8.1.12 @ 9:01AM

Uh, speaking of a war on women, could someone explain to Mayor midget-brain Bloomberg that attempting to force women to breast feed actually is a 'war on women.' It's also NOT "pro-choice."

How long will Bloomberg take to figure out that short skirts cause rape? Uh - oh, New York, I see burkas in your future. Good luck with that...

Don't Tread On Me!

Clarification:

Democrats do NOT think that their s**t doesn't stink!

In fact, they think it's sweet smelling, pretty-to-look-at, and tasty, too!

You had me at "lionizers to deodorizers" :)
Great column.

Bob James| 8.1.12 @ 9:51PM

I second that! Glad to see TAS has such a deep bench. Brilliant column.

Gary B| 8.1.12 @ 7:23AM

A perfect description of the media. It's members don't report; they vandalize then giggle among themselves, as they celebrate their little victories.

WillyP | 8.1.12 @ 2:00PM

And once the vandalizing is done, no amount of retraction, correction, or even apologizing ever really repairs it.

Stick| 8.1.12 @ 2:23PM

"they vandalize then giggle among themselves, as they celebrate their little victories." Gary, to let you know I going to steal your quote. Its too good to ignore. Thanks

devan| 8.1.12 @ 7:34AM

And the media NEVER mention the Waco Massacre:
Bill and Hillary Clinton should be in prison for crimes against humanity for what they did to their fellow citizens at Waco, TX, on April 19, 1993. The Waco Massacre and church burning (it was a church, not a “compound”), was the most brutal, heinous violation of civil, human and Constitutional rights in this nation's history. Innocent men, women and children were attacked with tanks, poison gas (CS gas turns to cyanide when heated) and burned alive. Those who ran from the church were machine-gunned as documented in the movie "Waco, The Rules of Engagement." If you doubt how bad this was consider that you never hear the left stream media talk about it. They want it erased from history but this memorial site will remain forever: http://www.wizardsofaz.com/waco/waco2.html
And if that weren't bad enough, Clinton's thugs then stuck a machine gun in the face of a 5 year old boy and sent him to the communist gulag known as Cuba: http://www.therealcuba.com/elian_gonzalez.htm
Let's hope Clinton isn't teaching President Prompter too many of his old tricks!

Gary B| 8.1.12 @ 8:08AM

Add to this Bill Clinton bestowing his imprimatur to teenage oral sex and lowering moral standards for generations to come. His response? A permanent, adolescent smirk.

DTOM| 8.1.12 @ 9:07AM

Actually, I cannot imagine Bill Clinton helping out Barry Obama and NOT picking his pockets clean outta his slacks...not for one second.

I cannot imagine BHO actually seeing Bill Clinton coming - (Clinton's shenanigans, for you scatologists!)

Can't Romney just play clips of Clinton's endorsement in some commercials, remember Slick calling Romney"eminently qualified." It's like manna from Heaven, ya just gotta pick it up and eat it - today!

DTOM

Gary B| 8.1.12 @ 9:25AM

There is nothing on this earth dumber than the typical Republican campaign, except, of course, for Ted Cruz in Texas yesterday.

Arbiter55| 8.1.12 @ 12:37PM

You're absolutely right about the typical Republican campaign. I live in Virginia, a so-called "battleground" state. I watch Nats baseball games on MASN most every night, and I swear every ballgame has at least 3 Barry campaign lies, er, advertisements. Romney ads, however, are nowhere to be seen. C'mon Mitt, start laying into this guy. Everyone knows he can't handle criticism. Give him hell, and watch him crack.

Stick| 8.1.12 @ 2:28PM

Me too. Is the owner of MASN/Orioles giving Obama a cut rate deal? That being said, the amount of Obama ads in NOVA and the absence of any positive poll movement for Obama is refreshing. I especially like the "took my words out of context" ad that has be running non-stop. I enjoy the irony of Obama's mouth costing Obama's campaign too much money. Karma does exist.

doramin| 8.1.12 @ 4:13PM

I can hazard a few guesses. The majority owner of the Orioles is asbestos-mining leech lawyer and de facto ruler of Maryland, Peter Angelos.

Now, just whose side do you think he's on in this race? Why bother to even guess?

Drunken Sailor| 8.1.12 @ 4:29PM

Mitt is limited on how he can spend his cash until after the convention and he is the official nominee by law. Even then he seems to be holding his own. Should get interesting when he can start spending money on ads like the Superpacs. Obama will be getting hit from all sides.

MK48| 8.1.12 @ 11:00AM

devan......they both have a master teacher..soros.

Bob James| 8.1.12 @ 11:17PM

Yes, this incident really showed the un-bared fangs of tyranny. The Elian Gonzalez kidnapping made me puke to be an American.

Let's not forget Janet's hit-man, Lon Wife-Shooter Horiuchi of Ruby Ridge fame. Who one year later was where? Waco. God above, my dad devoted 27 years of his life to the FBI, and served honorably. He was in failing health at the time of these outrages, but I dearly wish I'd thought to ask him what he thought of what "his" Bureau had become.

LindaF | 8.1.12 @ 8:31AM

I suspect that, if you took out of the subscription count all of the Newsweek and Time magazines that are in schools, libraries, and colleges, you would have fewer issues sold than many a medium-size city sells of its local paper.

The dinosaurs are dead - the signal just hasn't reached the brain.

The signal did reach the brain - but nobody was home!

Have you not noticed the decline , the precipitous decline , of readership and viewers of the running dog lackey MSM ? A few nuggets to chew on . The NYT could not give away the Boston Globe a year ago . Under Baby Sulzburger and Keller , the NYT stock sells for a third of what it did 5 years ago . And the dividend has been so cut that the bien pensant heirs are facing the horror of working for a living .Microsoft could no longer have its brand tied to MSLSD and cut loose . And on and on . The MSM is a failing business and has no one but the guys and gals in the mirror to blame . Good riddance to bad rubbish .

Gary B| 8.1.12 @ 9:53AM

You watch. They'll score subsidies from government, based on the bankrupt idea of the public good.

KennesawJack| 8.1.12 @ 12:12PM

Speaking of the MSM. I think we, who visit TAS on a more or less regular basis, should begin today to nominate each week our "Pivot Man of the Week" for the ongoing MSM Obamarx circle jerk. To start things off, I nominate the inestimable Wolf Blitzer for his interview this week with Shimon Perez. Please feel free to nominate anyone else you think merits consideration for this soon to become coveted award. Who among you (I think TLP can probably do it) can handle setting up a mechanism for tallying votes? We need to do this. Wouldn't surprise me a bit if we don't get calls seeking to be nominated. Andrea Mitchell will probably be furious that she wasn't first but, after seeing Blitzed do his thing with Perez, he had to be my first nominee. Seriously, I can see this becoming the most sought after lefty award ever.

R Martin| 8.1.12 @ 9:10AM

I have noticed that the liberal media is full of perversion, immorality, tells a lie when it is just as good to tell the truth. But, it has certainly shown the ones that have core values.

ElGordo| 8.1.12 @ 9:52AM

OF COURSE OBAMA LIES, HE'S A SOCIALIST BUT THE MEDIA HIDES IT
..
O'Reilly and many others who should, hesitate labelling Obama a socialist. But let's compare Obama to a real Socialist
.
Senator Bernie Sanders of VT is a self admitted registered Socialist
.
When Barack Obama was in the Senate, his voting record was to the left of Sander's
.
Further, in the '90's in Chicago Obama was a registered member of the Socialist New Party and solicited their endorsement for the Illinois Senate.
.
.He told Joe the Plumber, that he wants to redistribute the wealth.
.
ObamaCare is greatest attempt to transfer money from those that have more to those that have less
In my book that makes Obama at the least a Socialist
..
He also loaded his administration with communists such as Van Jones
.
.Virtually every aspect of Obama's past is in question. Nothing is certain. From where he was born, who really was his father, his communist mentor, his education records, his religion, etc. But the MEDIA hides it

Further, Obama is now using Elizabeth Warren's radical statements as his own.
.
Socialism is an inefficient economic system.
.
Socialist countries such as Cuba, Greece, France have roads but have 20% unemployment.
.
The U.S. has been a success because of its free enterprise system.

MK48| 8.1.12 @ 11:09AM

Lisa.....great artical short and to the point in fact many great points. I look forward to reading your opinions.

As a physician, I wonder why prior democratic presidents have such "colorful" characters in their families or ar damn near dysfunctional?Carter with that brother, Clinton with the mother and lack of father, Obama with that father, brother, aunt and ALL those hidden records!!Im betting he didnt make it out of HarvardOR had poor grades. Seems like the republicans have much more cohesive family structures. But thats just me.
R Mandraccia MD

doramin| 8.1.12 @ 4:18PM

Uh, actually, most families have their embarrassing dysfunctional black sheep. I happen to fill that bill in mine. Carter just had brother Billy (who actually did sober up and reform before his death).

Clinton and Obama are special cases, however. I think if America learns anything from the pair of them it is: no more "fatherless" presidents again, ever.

Occam's Tool| 8.2.12 @ 12:33AM

Lincoln was estranged from his father.

I would prefer a modicum of screening: no more Presidents who attend racist, anti-American churches.

Boehner & Co. sell the American people down the river, yet again.

http://dailycaller.com/2012/07.....ppointees/
http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2012/roll537.xml

Remember, back in the spring of '11, when the first budget battle was winding up? And, Boehner/Cantor/McCarthy/Ryan were lying to conservatives about cutting $100 billion in the budget deal?
Remember when Boehner & Co. were telling us to wait until Sept., '11, when they could really cut the budget?
Remember when Boehner & Co. promised that if the GOP took back control of the House, they would publish ALL BILLS 3 days before a vote?
Remember, a year ago, when Boehner & Co. sold-out to O'Bama on the debt-ceiling increase, and didn't give us 3 days to read the bill?
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Boehner has got to go!

Aristocat| 8.2.12 @ 1:09AM

YES!!! This has not received enough attention. We are still operating under the Nancy Pelosi budget of 2009 because Bonehead Boehner has refused to stand up for the Republican budgets passed by the House...The Senate has not passed a budget in years because they know that all they have to do is nothing and Boehner will fold.
Also, Boehner has committed the atrocity of forming a coalition with Democrats to freeze out the 50-60 true conservatives in the House...
The Tea Party needs to revolt and replace him with a conservative....

Petronius| 8.1.12 @ 12:51PM

The media still commands the mushy minded proles who only get their news from them and their like minded friends. Their political dispositions are formed in the sand box and set in concretinism of personal preference before they leave school. Truth and logic are constant casualties to these emotion milking pimps who love what they do and delight in the damage they do to this country. They read Alinsky too. If you want control of something, ruin it first.

Bill8472| 8.1.12 @ 12:56PM

The lefties love the law the way a foolish woman loves her rebel boyfriend: she'll change him to a responsible citizen after they get married. For the lefties, they love the law and will change it after they're in power.

Bet on those changes...

"And where was the outrage when the draft-dodger-in-chief scaled the heights of hypocrisy with his pernicious claim of executive privilege based on his being head of the military? "

Miss Lisa...It's more egregious than that...he was talking about using the Soldiers and Sailors Civil Relief Act (SCRA). That act was put in place to protect Servicemembers from civil actions while they were either Active Duty and Deployed or National Guard or Reserve who had been recalled to active duty. In essence, he was trying to claim to be a member of the military by virtue of his position as Commander In Chief...which last I looked, was a civilian position.

As always, your article was a home run!.

Mike

Kingofthenet,

The full quote is:

"If you've been successful, you didn't get there on your own. You didn't get there on your own. I'm always struck by people who think, well, it must be because I was just so smart. There are a lot of smart people out there. It must be because I worked harder than everybody else. Let me tell you something -- there are a whole bunch of hardworking people out there.

"If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you've got a business, you didn't build that. Somebody else made that happen. The Internet didn't get invented on its own. Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet."

In other words, brains and dedication are insufficient; it requires government support and "somebody else" to build a business.

Roads were built long before there were governments to build them. We've been over the bogus "government created the Internet" issue too many times. No one has suggested infrastructure isn't valuable, yet businesses were built in Jamestown in 1607 before any such infrastructure existed.

Kingofthenet| 8.1.12 @ 5:58PM

Truth is there is ONLY one self made Billionaire EVER, one who did not make it with the help of Govt. or off the backs of others, that is Pablo Picasso. The problem with our political class, especially on the liberal wing, is that they do not understand capitalism, and have no sense or knowledge of history. The same condition pervades our school system, form K all the way up to bacculaureatte.

All businesses are not Apple Inc., Ford Moptor, or Pfizer. Every tool and die shop, doctor's office, law practice, coffee shop, etc., in this country (unless subsidized by the taxpayer) is a capitlistic enterprise. (Fundamental stuff.) Histrorically, capitalism is the only system that has enriched most of the people most of the time. Attempts to resurrect economic systems that have failed time and again is a fools move. Socialism, fascism, communism, fuedalism, etc., all failed every time they have been tried. Only capitalism has enriched most of the people most of the time.

Our fearless leaders seem to think that since capitalsm doesn't guarantee success, there must be something wrong with it. and we are supposed to follow them over the cliff again?

Fabrizio, you hit the nail on the head with a nine-pound hammer. But I would describe most of the media you expose as less op-ed writers and much more big-lie propagandists posing as journalists.

And I question that this praise-and-cover-for treatment began with the Bill, Hillary, and Monica Administration. It seems to me that Jimmy Carter when he was a candidate and early in his ONE term got this treatment also.
