While the House Oversight Committee has now recommended that
Congress hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt for his
conduct during the Fast and Furious scandal, one could make the
case that Holder has long held the American public in contempt.
After all, how many cabinet secretaries begin their tenure by
calling
his fellow Americans “a nation of cowards” where it concerned the
question of racism? Never mind that America has become a nation
where racism is not only unacceptable but a nation where, outside
of being called a murderer or a rapist, nothing is worse than being
called a racist.
If anyone has behaved cowardly where it concerns racism, it is
Holder. What can one say about a man who sees fit to drop a
successfully prosecuted case of voter intimidation? If two members
of the Ku Klux Klan had held a baton in front of polling station in
Philadelphia, Mississippi, to intimidate black voters, Holder would
have spared no effort to prosecute them. But when it comes to two
members of the New Black Panthers holding a baton in front of
polling station in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to intimidate white
voters, Holder could not care less. During testimony before a House
Appropriations Subcommittee hearing in March 2011, Holder
said:
When you compare what people endured in the South in the '60s to
try to get the right to vote for African Americans, to compare what
people subjected to that with what happened in Philadelphia… I
think does a great disservice to people who put their lives on the
line for my people.
No, the great disservice here is an Attorney General who does
not comprehend the basic legal concept of “equal justice under
law.” Eric Holder is the Attorney General of the United States, not
the Attorney General of his people.
Yet what can we expect of a public official who does not have
the courtesy to read legislation he contended would lead to
increased racial profiling? Oh, pardon me. Holder did say he
“glanced” at the Arizona immigration law. It would have been nice
if Holder taken the copy of S.B. 1070 that Texas Congressman Ted
Poe so generously offered him. Then
again it probably wouldn’t have made a difference. Holder’s
Department of Injustice was going to sue Arizona whether he read
the bill or not.
After all, what can we expect of a public official who wanted to
try 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed in New York? Holder
looked like a first-year law student back in November 2009 when
Senator Lindsey Graham asked him if he
could cite a case where an enemy combatant caught on a battlefield
was tried in civilian court. His embarrassing reply is probably the
reason why the Obama Administration chose to kill Osama bin Laden
rather than capture him. Like other members of the Obama
Administration, Holder cannot bring
himself to utter the words “radical Islam.”
But for all of Holder’s trespasses during his tenure as Attorney
General, Fast and Furious is his most serious transgression. An
ill-advised scheme to ship arms to Mexican drug lords has resulted
in the deaths of two law enforcement officers. Liberals like Alan
Colmes can
argue that Holder stopped “Fast and Furious” and blame the Bush
Administration until he is blue in the face. But how could Holder
have stopped something he
claimed to have no knowledge of in the first place? Besides if
Holder had stopped Fast and Furious dead in its tracks, wouldn’t
someone in the Obama Administration have seen fit to leak such
information?
Alas, no. Instead we have an Attorney General who uses the race
card to immunize himself from criticism. In December 2011, Holder
told the New York Times, “This is a way to get at the
president because of the way I can be identified with him both due
to the nature of our relationship and, you know, the fact that
we’re both African-American.”
Ah yes, from the Janeane Garofalo School of Government which
states that all Republican criticism of President Obama and, by
extension, Eric Holder is motivated solely by race. It looks like
Chris Matthews is
giving the valedictory address. If Holder is suggesting that
Republicans would not have called a white Attorney General in a
Democrat administration to account for something like Fast and
Furious” is patently absurd. But President Obama rewards Holder’s
loyalty by invoking executive privilege.
Last week, during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing, Texas
Senator John Cornyn
called on Holder to resign to his face.
I humbly disagree. I say Holder should remain as Attorney
General. The longer Holder remains in office and the angrier
Americans become about Fast and Furious, the bigger an albatross
Holder remains around the neck of President Obama. All of which
reflects poorly on President Obama’s judgment or lack thereof in
appointing Holder as his Attorney General in the first place. If
the American public should now hold Eric Holder in contempt, the
American public may do the same with President Obama in
November.

One American and hundreds of poor Mexicans died as a result of Obama/Holder supplying weapons to gangsters, and they are trying to cover it up. Holder will stonewall as long as possible to help Obama with the election.
And the Dems still have dreams about Watergate as a scandal!!
If you supplied weapons to gangsters who use them to kill you would probably be indicted as an accomlice on murder charges, at least manslaughter charges of gross negligence because you supplied weapons knowing or should have known they would be used in a crme.
The hypocrisy is Holder and his ilk would sue gun manufacturers and sellers for civil damages for injuries caused by the guns.

Once this character is shifted out the door (and check his pockets when he leaves and be sure you get all the keys), perhaps the next Woodward and Bernstein will emerge to trace the wandering path of this debacle and what a movie it will make.
BobNY| 6.21.12 @ 8:18AM

Still, there is hope. The words "Nixon" and "Watergate" have surfaced. The parallels are striking.
MelvinNC| 6.21.12 @ 7:14AM
There is more to this than just Holder and Obama. This Fast and Furious wasn't developed on someone's veranda over Brandy snifters.
This was a globalist plan that may or may have not had direct involvement by the UN, Mexico, or even certain member states within the EU.
This plan was developed with a particular objective to coincide with the drug business in Mexico and the small arms reduction treaty currently winding it's way through UN bureaucracy.
But an the biggest indictment of all is against Liberalism. Right, Left, down the middle and even the Progressives, and Liberal Republicans. The individual philosophies were ready to jump on the band wagon to restrict our Constitution by treaty.
I would not even be surprised if Soros filthy paws were upon this push.
Conservatives are armed with this information and the age old question is. what are Conservatives going to do post Mitt Romney. Cause I don't see him breaking down any of Obama's doors while Barrack voids our Constitution.
Von Mises Jr| 6.21.12 @ 8:12AM
Excellent point Melvin. This is all tied to the UN and Agenda21. The liberal elitist plan to corral us all into "smart growth" sustainable "pack and stack" government apartments, take away our vehicles and have us work for one of Jeffrey Immelt or Warren Buffet's fascist companies. And they cannot achieve that while we have our guns. Hillary is "Fast and Furiously" working to that end.
benny havens| 6.21.12 @ 9:09AM
Correct.
Her Thighness spoke about the necessity for more gun control because of guns going across the border from the US long before Fast and Furious became headlines. You can bet that Obama knew all about this operation along with Holder, Clinton as well as Bird Brain Biden.
Von Mises Jr| 6.21.12 @ 9:33AM
Apparently, so did the Mexican government. It is now surfacing that the Three Amigos meeting took place and the Mexican President was touting the same message.
TNcracker | 6.21.12 @ 10:01AM
So true! Her comment stood out to me because at the time, I remember being disgusted about the "Blame America First" crowd. (Drug cartels are our fault, too, because of our insatiable demand for illegal drugs, dontcha know). As a second point, I hold it against The GOP senators (Hatch) for voting to confirm Holder when his sleaze was well-known (Mark Rich).
DRed| 6.21.12 @ 10:20AM
Here's a question: why would the Obama administration need to continue gunwalking programs to create a controversy about guns going across the border? Guns were (and presumably still are) going across the border already. We didn't have to sell guns to Mexican cartels-they were already buying them.
John Navratil| 6.21.12 @ 10:44AM
DRed,
That is INDEED the question. One to which the oversight committee would like the answer.
DRed| 6.21.12 @ 11:01AM
The answer is likely the most obvious one-they wouldn't. That doesn't excuse the incompetent stupidity of the whole operation, and it doesn't excuse Holder possibly lying to Congress. But the idea that this part of Obama's sinister plot to take your guns away is most probably some Bircher fantasy.

DRed,
Or maybe he was hiding his porn stash and Hello Kitty tu-tu.
DRed| 6.21.12 @ 1:52PM
What seems more likely to you, John, that a government official is lying to cover up some sort of embarrassing incompetence (or perhaps an illegal cover-up of the embarrassing incompetence) or that he's lying to cover a plot directed by the UN, Mexico, Jeff Immeldt, George Soros and certain unspecified EU member states to disarm American civilians so that we can all be forced live in apartment buildings (and not even nice apartment buildings-crappy ones!).
John Navratil| 6.21.12 @ 3:21PM
DRed,
Black and white fallacy. Perhaps it's something altogether different - even innocent. I don't care to speculate. Engaging in conspiracy theories is not rational.
The Oversight Committee wants to know who authorized this and why. It is in their purview to do so and is germane to their role as legislators. The DoJ story is anything by straight. First it wasn't authorized in Washington it was rogue agents. Then that denial was false. Then the emails suggesting someone in Washington did know all along. Holders famous testimony about the definition of lying - factually true but weasel-y in the extreme.
Issa wants the documents. Holder says no, citing on-going investigations and separation of powers. Even the seamy Clinton/Lewinsky documents were provided for inspection.
It looks like a coverup, walks like a coverup and quacks like a coverup. What is being covered up is the question. The answer remains unknown.

Here's a better question: why would they need to continue a gunwalking program to create a controvery about guns going across the border IF guns were actually going across the border?
They wouldn't. They would only need to create that controversy if guns were NOT otherwise going across the border.
And by the way, if you're in a Mexican drug cartel, why would come across the border and seek out a corrupt gun drealer in the US, and then pay US prices for guns which are available for less through the black market in Mexico?
I've never bought into the idea that American guns are going south Mexico. I suspect the truth is, in fact, the opposite, that Mexican cartels are bringing guns with them here as they traffic here.
TW in SC| 6.21.12 @ 5:29PM
Well, with national socialists all wanting to be the big, popular kid with the flashy car, it becomes obvious that they like doing things in a big way. In order to promote sufficient "outrage" by the anti-gun crowd, there would have to be a flood of arms sent to Mexico. They undertook the operation in just that vein. Of course, in typical national socialist fashion, they did not anticipate the unintended consequences. Now they have poop on their shoes and they've walked all over the white carpet and are trying to avoid being held responsible for it.
JimH| 6.21.12 @ 7:44AM
An important thing to remember about F and F was that the main goal was not to trace gun suppliers to the cartels. It was to help discredit private gun ownership.
WRTolkas| 6.21.12 @ 8:10AM
Dear JimH,
I concur. It started with the government notion that the arms smuggled to Mexico were from shows and shops. That had to be proven true for the tyrant to assault the 2nd Amendment. Fortunately there was no proof; but that wouldn't stand in the way with that administration. Fast and Furious was to manufacture a lie to start the tyrant's assault on the 2nd Amendment. It failed, he failed, and now he and Eric "Algonquin J. Calhoun" Holder are burying the evidence.
Anthony| 6.21.12 @ 9:09AM
Exactly WR, which is why Obozo cannot let this get out. Besides, and I'll keep screaming this until the cows come home, their actions were criminal, and directly led to the death of two Americans. They are accessories to murder!!!!
BTW, Algonquin J. Calhoun, Esq. was a paragon of legal virture compared to Holder, and, he'd make a better Solicitor General than Obozo's current guy.

Indeed. If ever there was a glaring example of how the media is carrying the national socialists' water, this would be it.
Fear of exposing the public to obvious misconduct is not the mark of a fair and balanced news agency. Obviously there are a great many who are in the socialist camp. Some are there because they follow the lead of the big entities, some are there because they are small "c" communists and still others are there because their whole life has been spent apologizing for their own white "slave-owner" history.
And, if ever there was an example of how weak and misguided such thinking is, this, also would be it. Problem with socialists is that when the going gets tough, they do not become introspective and wonder, "How did I go wrong" for they have been taught and happily have learned all their lives that they CAN'T be wrong, that socialism IS the answer and that blacks DO make better leaders...because they're black. And there is no logic-trail, no path to clarity; Just emotions and fear that the "evil right" will prevail. Thus they double down on the bad bet and raise the risk to ridiculous levels, to themselves and others as well. When it all falls apart, the blame amongst their peers becomes thicker than molasses in winter.

And what else would you expect from the crowd that reads that pap? It's the "gimme gimme" crowd and they don't want their stream of free stuff interrupted.

They're right wingers? No surprise.

The really sickening thing about this is, assuming F&F had came off as Holder and Co. wanted, how many Mexicans would have died in their best case scenario? They clearly wanted weapons sold in America to turn up at Mexican drug cartel drime scenes - which tend to involve large nmbers of corpses, often large numbers of corpses of people who were NOT involved in the drug trade.
Whoever dreamed up and approved this ridiculous scheme, whether white or black, Republican or Democrat, Bush or Obama, whatever, they should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
Stephanie| 6.21.12 @ 11:44AM
Mexicans, Americans, whatever. We're all expendable in the eyes of our government. Just look at the mess in the Middle East, Vietnam, etc.

By all means, we need "Eric the Red" at Justice until the Elections. I think we can get a great deal of mileage out of this creep. HOLDER is sanctamonious, arrogant and a fool. Just the kind of Liberal Socialist IDEALOGUE we need to showcase the Obama regime's attituded toward our country and our Constitution. Don't force the SOB to resign. He's the GIFT that keeps on GIVING. Now that Obama has invoked Exec Priv, in the FAST AND FURIOUS SCANDAL we should DEMAND to know:
WHAT DID THE PRESIDENT KNOW AND WHEN HE KNOW IT?
Louis Jenkins| 6.21.12 @ 11:14AM
Obama knew about it. All of his advisors, at least 2/3s of them knew it. Maybe Obama's dog didn't know anything. This current episode is just one of many. There is more than just one rotten apple in the barrel, unfortunately, this is the only one surfacing at the moment. I happen to agree with one poster above, that this episode has a greater meaning. That Dear Hillary is out to have the small arms treaty verified by the USA. Remember, it only takes a majority to get it thru the Senate, and then we'll be expected to roll over and play dead, or be really dead.
Many of you have kept up with the Fast and Furious case, and you're to be congratulated. I have had my eye on this since day one when the two men were killed, and when the arms were traced back to the gunshops a chill went up my spine (not my leg). Did you know that a third weapon is still missing from the murder scene of Terry?
There is much more to this entire situation than meets the eye.
TLP| 6.21.12 @ 5:08PM
He claimed Executive Privelage.
Of course he knew about it.
Does anyone think that his androgynous, limp wristed, POS Attorney General would do ANYTHING, without his Messiah's Blessing?
Kwan| 6.21.12 @ 8:06PM
That's right. Obama says jump and Holder says how high. Then Obama tosses him a dog biscuit. This entire Obama presidency has been choreographed by a committee of left-wing radicals under the direction of George Soros. Do you think these two nitwits ( Obama and Holder ) are capable of planning anything larger than what color tie to wear to the office. The Soros committee writes the script and these two dopes follow it like brainless-automatons.
Oldefarte| 6.21.12 @ 11:17AM
The optimum point of Aaron's editorial IMHO is '.....If two members of the Ku Klux Klan had held a baton in front of polling station in Philadelphia, Mississippi, to intimidate black voters, Holder would have spared no effort to prosecute them....'; and possibly we need to revisit those times in order to balance the current extremism/radicalism???????????????
Maxwell| 6.21.12 @ 11:43AM
I can only add one more item to what has been said above my post, what were the Senate Republicans thinking when Holder came up for a vote?
Senators Alexander, Bennett, Bond, Chambliss, Collins, Corker, Graham, Grassley, Gregg, Hatch, Isakson, Kyl, Lugar, McCain, Mukowski, Sessions, Snowe, and Voinovich, who all voted to confirm Eric Holder should be hounded to the steps of a VERY WARM PLACE (and no, I don't mean Princeton right now either where the temp is almost 100)
Louis Jenkins| 6.21.12 @ 1:11PM
Yes, those good Republican senators voted yes for him. Good Republicans. Good Republicans.

These are the people who continue the segregation lines. If I'm a racist as they would have others believe because he committed a crime and happens to also be black, then call me a racist. I don't care anymore. I'm tired of the race baiting which HE implied in his remark of "his people" meaning what? Certainly not the American people I'm sure....the media whimps will NOT report unbiased news because of their love affair with Obama even if it means the end of America as we know it.....Obama protecting his boy...what's he hiding?

"When he arrived at Columbia in 1969 as a boyish-looking freshman, he was recruited by upperclassmen to help take over the R.O.T.C. office. Armed with pillowcases and sheets, he joined several dozen students and christened the office as a student center named for Malcolm X.
Steven Sims, a close college friend, said, 'It was very galvanizing because, for many of us, it allowed us to further develop and embrace our black consciousness'.”

One could hope. It certainly reflects poorly on Obama that he used executive privilege to protect Holder. Is he complicit? Is he impeachable? We may never know.
What we do know is justice is not being served in this country. Have you read about Critical Race Theory which both Obama and Holder believe, as do many other in the administration? Breitbart has written a bunch about it.
If Holder were to resign (which I doubt - he seems incapable of common sense or basic decency) then Obama would be scrutinized more closely over the replacement by new media, forcing coverage by news media as in Fast and Furious itself. Win-win for conservatives, I'd say.

F&F will one day be exposed as an abuse of power to assault the Constitution with a most cynical, criminal and dangerous sneak attack.
I can easily envision BO, Holder, and Clinton sliding around on their bellies, slyly grinning at each other in the oval office in 2010, giddy F&F would let them "plant" false evidence to impugn US gun dealers selling to drug cartels and use this as evil PR to further the goal to gut the 2nd amendment.
Obamanation is un-American based on actions, not opinions. They executed a direct assault on the first and tenth amendments with the healthcare mandates on faith organizations and the AZ illegal immigration law respectively.
And now, most likely, a despicable sneak attack on the second amendment.
Obamanation is ignorant of all things American, arrogant in the application of power....and enemies of Freedom.

The body politic is sick, and it has zilch to do with the amount of melanin in one’s skin.
Holder, Pelosi, Reid, Obama, et al, are riding their high horses, the true representatives of the sick bloodsuckers breeding like fruit flies---so many fat and diseased people!
I just read from Doctor Schulze’s blog that the total blood supply goes through the kidneys every FOUR MINUTES.
What does that have to do with the price of beans?
As above so below.
There are toxin-removing “kidneys” for the body politic, as well. And, just as the exponential growth of the number of obese Americans, and their weight, one by one, continues on the way to a final fat bubble bursting, the same thing is happening in D.C.
Oh, the accumulated poison it that city!
Can a “kidney” burst, like an appendix?
What is the political “blood supply”? In the realm of thoughts and ideas, taken to cells as policies for action, there’s an almost complete failure of the “kidneys”, so that we are suffering the logical stultification of the political body.
With mostly crap coming in, and STAYING there, by and VERY LARGE, the image of DC as a cesspool is literally true---most of the humans in positions of power in that hellish place are veritable slow-walking out houses.
Stay there, Holder and Obama---keep getting more and more bloated.
People will notice.
cicero| 6.21.12 @ 2:37PM
President Obama did not invoke executive priviledge to protect Holder. Obama has demonstrated no qualms about throwing those close to him to the wolves. I feel comfortable that Michelle and the girls would be history, if he thought it would shield him, except she would probably win the wrestle, and he would have bus treadd marks on his forehead. He invoked exec priv because he knows that those internal memoes wil clearly show that he was well aware of what was going on, and not only approved the operation, but probably authored it.
TLP| 6.21.12 @ 5:11PM
Congratulations?
You get it.

Does anyone else find it strange that there has been no expression of outrage by the government of Mexico over Fast and Furious. After all their president gave a speech to a joint session of the U.S. Congress denouncing Arizona for enforcing our so called immigration laws. It would seem F&F would be such a sore spot it would be prime campaign cause celeb to campaign on in Mexico. Surely it should rate a rant before a joint session of the Mexican legislature. I think MelvinNC might be on to something with his their-all-out-to-get-us theme above.
The Big E| 6.21.12 @ 4:44PM
If the President of Mexico did express his outrage over F&F, especially if he did so in front of the Mexican legislature, how would we ever know? It certainly would receive no coverage here.
Controse| 6.21.12 @ 3:33PM
I can't for the life of me in a world ruled by logic see how the very act of invoking executive privilege isn't equivalent to self-incrimination. The very rational for preventing discovery means there must be something to discover. Us patriots so crudely labeled birthers are very familiar with Obama's, or whoever he is, latest F&F defensive maneuver. Imagine arguing before a judge that no I didn't know anything and yes I am using executive privilege to prevent the prosecution from proving so. It takes a liberal.
JD| 6.21.12 @ 5:12PM
One could argue that "taking the fifth" is similarly self-incriminating. Still, it doesn't prevent the discovery of non-verbal evidence like this does.
John Navratil| 6.21.12 @ 5:34PM
Controse,
The principled use of Executive Privilege is to prevent Congress for usurping executive power. For example, demanding to see diplomatic communication during treaty negotiations, or battle plans. That doesn't appear to be the case here, I'm just making the point.
Your second sentence is an invitation to tyranny. It's like saying that if you've done nothing wrong you have nothing to fear from the police monitoring you. Liberty requires to assumption of innocence and the proof of guilt. However, as Nixon discovered, executive privilege cannot be used to obstruct justice and the courts will decide the point. That's where this appears to be headed.

"After all, how many cabinet secretaries begin their tenure by calling his fellow Americans "a nation of cowards" where it concerned the question of racism?
What can one say about a man who sees fit to drop a successfully prosecuted case of voter intimidation? If two members of the Ku Klux Klan had held a baton in front of polling station in Philadelphia, Mississippi, to intimidate black voters, Holder would have spared no effort to prosecute them. "
Holder spoke the truth, America is a nation of coward when it comes to race. Don't believe me? Have your readers ask their black friends about the subject. Express your views and ask them to respond.
Won't do it? Coward!
Your lie about the NBP incident is evidence of your bias. The case was not prosecuted as a crime, but pursued through a lawsuit. That was not Holder's decision, but the Bush administration. Holder put the decision through on the one NBP who was holding the nightstick, the other one was falsely sued, and Holder legitimately dropped that.
Comparing it to the KKK is another fraud on your part. The Bush administration had a case of several Minutemen, not just standing there, but actually approaching and challenging Hispanic voters in Arizona. One of them had a handgun, not a night stick, but the Bush administration took no action at all.
Try a little honesty for a change.
