Another Perspective

A Million New ‘Americans’

Obama’s crass immigration politics just got crasser.

President Obama made it crystal clear Friday, for the few left who doubted it, that he has no intention of ever making any useful distinction between people who are citizens of the United States and those who are not. Another part of the Democratic base pandered to, though he didn’t need to “evolve” on this one. He’s never thought keeping undocumented Democrats out of the country was a good idea.

Obama created somewhere north or south of a million new “Americans” Friday when he declared that his administration will no longer attempt to deport citizens of other countries illegally here who were brought here when they were children. Not that his administration was attempting all that hard anyway. The southern border to the United States remains a line on the map that all members of one of our major political parties wish to ignore, as do too many of the other. (Border? What’s a mean old border between friends?)

Obama perfumed his most recent brazen run around Congress and the U.S. Constitution by draping it in terms of “fairness,” as he does most of his hustles, and setting out phony standards for his amnesty plan that certainly can’t and won’t be enforced. Young citizens of other countries can avoid being even concerned about the heave-ho if they were brought to the United States before they turned 16 and have been in the country for at least five continuous years.

Even if sufficient bureaucrats and document stampers existed to check these two items, there’s no way of reliably ascertaining when someone came to El Norte. Obama must be under the impression that illegals have their butts date-stamped when they sneak across the border.

“This is not amnesty,” Obama said Friday. “This is not immunity. This is not a path to citizenship. This is not a permanent fix. This is the right thing to do.”

Of course it’s amnesty and it’s immunity. It’s far from the right thing to do (or not do in this case). Obama is only right that it’s not a fix, permanent or temporary, beyond the fact that America will be in a hell of a fix if we don’t decide to have real borders and real, enforceable standards for citizenship.

Doubtless many of the people included in this blanket amnesty will make fine Americans, and it would take a heart of stone not to sympathize with the yearnings of people in poor countries who want to enjoy the advantages of life in America. But at the present America is a nation of unemployed immigrants. There is no way we can accommodate tens, perhaps hundreds of millions of people who would rather live in America than where they are. Borders and standards for citizenship are not hate crimes, they are necessities of sovereignty.

America has immigration law on top of immigration law. But most are ignored most of the time. In practice anyone on Earth or the closer planets with a Spanish last name has a get-into-America-free card. This has been the case under Democratic and Republican administrations for crass political reasons.

Democrats don’t want to oblige Mexicans, Colombians, Peruvians, et al. to return to their own countries because these folks vote for Democrats when they become U.S. citizens, and too often before. Republicans don’t have the nerve to attempt to deport people with Spanish last names who are citizens of other countries because they’re afraid people with Spanish last names who are Americans will not vote for them if they do. One side in this sorry business is motivated by raw political opportunism, the other by a testosterone deficiency.

The Big Lie on this one, which has been pushed by the Left for so long that even people on the Right have begun to believe it, is that any coherent and consistent effort to maintain a southern border to the United States and to set standards for American citizenship is anti-Hispanic. It’s not. And conservatives, especially conservative Republicans running for office, should say so. They should call the folks retailing this nonsense what they are, demagogues and cheap political hustlers.

Why should an American with a Spanish last name be offended if his government prevents a citizen of another country with a Spanish last name from coming here or staying here illegally to compete for the American’s job and to suck up government services the American will have to help pay for? It certainly wouldn’t ruin my day to learn of a Brit here illegally who was obliged to get on back to Old Blighty where he belongs. And when large numbers of Belgians and Norwegians start pouring over our southern border, we’ll have to deal firmly, intelligently, and fairly with them as well.

Some Americans with Spanish last names do favor an almost open immigration policy. But the number of these folks is exaggerated by the Left for political effect. Even those Americans who believe in a free flow between Latin America and the U.S. are more interested in a job and a bright future for their children than they are in shoe-horning every person on the planet with even the most tenuous connection to Spain or the Spanish language into the United States.

Republicans regularly anguish over how they can win the votes of Americans with Spanish last names. The answer isn’t to fall down the hopeless rabbit hole of identity politics, but to fashion and promote policies that lead to freedom and prosperity for all Americans, hyphenated and otherwise.

While we’re up, I have to wonder that more people with Spanish last names are not offended by that cow-patty of a word, Hispanic. The folks at the U.S. Census Bureau dreamed up this clunker back in Tricky Dick days to aid in the butt-insky type of stuff they do. It applies to anyone with a connection to Spain or Spanish, which covers a lot of very different people with different outlooks.

People rudely corralled under the designation Hispanic are as various as those of Non-Spanish backgrounds. Most would rather be identified by their nation of origin – Mexicans, Colombians, Peruvians, etc. – or as just Americans, and resonate to Hispanic about as much as I would resonate to Europanic.

Sadly, immigration is, and for the foreseeable future will likely remain, an area suffused with fear and resentment and base political opportunism. It’s an issue, like race or the relations between the sexes (the standard two as well as all the new niche sexes), where few politicians have the nerve to implement the policies we need, and almost no one is willing to utter the truth. In any review of our national conversation on immigration over the past couple of decades, the words “courage” and “coherence” will not figure prominently. That’s too bad for us all, not least Americans with Spanish last names, who are being badly used.

For starters I'm so sick and God Damn(Father forgive me for taking your name in vane) tired of those bueacrats preaching to me, "This is the right thing to do." Obama Care, "This is the right thing to do." War against religion, "This is the right thing to do." Amnesty, This is the right thing to do."
But Barrack Obama's main malfunction is, He is doing the wrong thing by bypassing Congress and the Constitution.
And what did that little pop corn fart Romney do? He squeaked, like a field mouse. Did Romney roar like a politicla lion about we are a nation governed by the rule of law? No, did he mention about about that really minor thing, like bypassing Congress? No.
I'm just blowing steam now, by Romney just gave me the single biggest excuse to stay home in November.
That other pop corn fart Speak of the House, did he happen to mention something like withholding funds to implement this illegal Presidential edict?
Nah, he was working on his tan somewhere.
People, I am telling you one thing. The only way that anything is going to change is that Conservatives declare a Civil War against Establishment Elitist Republicans. Soon there is going to be more than just tea being dumped into the harbor. (Homeland Security, the above is a metaphor, no need to send over your jackboots.)

Von Mises Jr| 6.18.12 @ 8:16AM

This is about the "Rule of Law" versus a regime of men making dictatorial decisions about entitlements and privileges.
If you are a Hispanic family with a nineteen year old in college, do they send the parents back and let the child stay? If the 19 year old agrees to go to college on a Grant, can the whole family stay? If the father is 31 whom served in the military with children, must he go home?
The answer is that under the Obama regime, a Czar or bureaucrat will apparently decide based on their feelings instead of clear enforcement of the "Rule of Law."

TLP| 6.18.12 @ 9:07AM

Is there ANYTHING he can do, to get Impeached?

What does he need to do?

He's Run Guns. He's Forged Documents, and is in Contempt of A Federal Judge's Ruling, with his Illegal Drilling Moratorium. He has UNILATERALLY changed every bit of Bankruptcy Laws, as to who gets their Money, and in which order.

He has declared HIMSELF, to be the Sole Arbitor of what Laws are Constitutional, and what ones are not.

He has gone to War without ZERO AUTHOIZATION, and in Violation of his own Party's Magna Cartre - The War Powers Act.

Now, it would seem, he has assumed the mantle of DICTATOR. He has openly declared that He, and Hugo Chavez, are one in the same.

How many times have I written that he seeks to make us VENEZUELA? What did Wikileaks reveal about his Bitch Slapping of Honduras?

Throw in his ESPIONAGE, in purposely Leaking Secret Intelligence Information to our ENEMIES, and I'll ask it, again.

What does he have to do, before he faces Impeachment?

And, when will somebody do, what needs to be done, to save this Country from HIM?

Russel| 6.18.12 @ 9:32AM

We all know it Tim . And we all grind our teeth the spineless whitehairs in congress don't call him out . He's tested the waters and now figures he can do whatever he wants with fear of retribution . Even the obvious crook that he is Holder is following dear leaders orders of just tell them to go FO and you'll be fine . We can only wait and pray the people boost a whole bunch of worthless congress out .

MK48| 6.18.12 @ 10:09AM

Mark my words.....this POS will do an end run around the Supreme Court if obamacare gets struck down.

What he did friday is only a preview of what he is prepaired to do to stay in office. Who is going to challenge "the one" ? The only ones who care and are willing to do something are the people.....no spines in Washington.

TLP you are right where is a casson when you need it.

MelvinNC| 6.18.12 @ 11:26AM

Whose going to impeach em? Like Russel says, "the spineless white hairs." How many times is Issa going to threaten Holder?
Then Holder is going to open up dialog between the DOJ and Issa's committee. Hold the phone here, Holder is going to enter into negotiations with Issa. Doesn't the Constitution say, if Congress demands information that the DOJ is supposed to provide forthwith?
Then Issa says, "Welllll,,,IIIII, might dooooo ittttttt next weeeeeeeeekkkkk. Iffffff Holder makes me madddddd, I'm reallllllly goinggggggg to do ittttttttt."
This is a message to Mr. Issa and his committee.
"Your all nothing but a bunch or demasulated white haired eunuchs. Ya haven't got that nads to go after Holder, he's treating you like a bunch of BIATCHS.
Holder might be a thug and a questionable criminal, but at least he has a pair, and is fighting.
Maybe there should be an age limit on Republican politicians, they seem to lose their testosterone past 25.

TLP| 6.18.12 @ 5:38PM

It's unfckingbelievable, isn't it?

A. C. Santore| 6.18.12 @ 9:49AM

What a frightening and accurate list of his dictatorial usurpation of power!

Where in the Constitution does it say that if Congress doesn’t pass a law that the president wants, the legislative power passes to the Executive?

The Constitution does not provide for dictators in The United States of America.

I can assume only that the Senate is waiting and hoping for a Republican super-majority in November so that, if Obama is not sent packing by the electorate, the Congress can successfully impeach him.

TLP| 6.18.12 @ 5:40PM

It's even worse than that.

The sole power of the Executive Branch is to ENFORCE the Laws on the books.

And, he REFUSES to do it.

IMPEACH.

Oldefarte| 6.18.12 @ 1:31PM

No, since to seek impeachment would be to become guilty of racism, gentrification, disenfranchisement, discrimination, etc [and we certainly could not have that]!!!!!!!!!!!

Oldefarte| 6.18.12 @ 1:34PM

PS: Negotiations, compromise? Perish the thought. What's needed is an old fashioned BEER SUMMIT at the WH......that'll fix everything!!!!!

1. From mob.

2. Go to Washington, D.C.

3. Go simultaneously to the Congress, the Supreme Court and the White House.

4. Drag every single politician from those places.

5. Bring them into the public square.

6. Tar and feather them.

7. Ride them out of town on rails.

8. At the edge of town, throw them off their rails and tell them that when they are ready to obey the will of the people they can apply to come back.

But we're all pussies so we will never make it clear to our so-called leaders what they have to do so they'll keep on doing what they want to do.

While I have some leanings toward libertarianism, I also believe firmly in the nation, the country, in sovereignty which separates me from true libertarians. It’s pointless to argue the benefits or negatives associated with high immigration – in truth, there are both positives and negatives, they wash each other out.

US immigration for decades now, has given favoritism to Mexican and Central American peoples who are historically dirt poor, grade school educated, have notoriously high out of wedlock birth rates, very high dropout rates from high school, high gang membership, etc.

But the higher philosophical question is …..is the United States merely a place for half the world to come to, in order to make a couple of bucks more per hour? Economics is important but economics is not the only thing in life. Culture matters too. People make culture and culture makes the politics of a nation.

I believe in smaller numbers of legal immigrants. I believe in immigration enforcement, which means deportation for illegal immigrants.

I am a “restrictionist” as the GOP and Democrat open borders, “diversity” cheerleaders call it. Lower numbers of legal immgrants with firm assimilation. So be it.

Al Adab| 6.18.12 @ 11:28AM

Good morning Hindmost:
The actual problem with this approach is the blanket, "one size fits all" approach and of course the blatant political nature of the move. The group does include many who are here through to volition of their own. In fact a certain number of them are unaware of their illegal status. Still this needs to be approached on an individual, not a mass, basis. Some brought as children have become contributing members of our society. Not a few of those speak no Spanish and are acculturated into American culture.

These poor, innocent Latinos.....poor, poor amigos. Brought here by their parents, it's all the parent's fault!!! Stealing/using fake social security numbers, driving with a driver's license, or registration or insurance, income tax evasion. Poor amigos.

Question: Why weren't the parents deported years ago? Why aren't the parents deported today?

Enforce the law, which means deportation.

John Navratil| 6.18.12 @ 2:14PM

Nessus,

Income tax evasion? No one at the income level we are talking about pays any income tax! Half of America doesn't pay any income tax.

While one can certainly drive without a licence in Texas, it's impossible to get a vehicle tag or inspection sticker without insurance. Of course, you have to use a fake SSN if you can't get one legally. So now we have eVerify - a cleverly disguised employment licence for all Americans. We'll see what that morphs into over time.

Nessus| 6.18.12 @ 3:03PM

John, by paying income tax, I meant, having money withheld from one's paycheck. I would have thought that was clear.

One can drive without a license in Texas, really? Interesting. An anomaly no doubt. Nearly all states require a driver's license. Hope you have one!

John Navratil| 6.18.12 @ 3:22PM

Nessus,

The payroll tax is withheld from everyone's paycheck, false documents or not. One must be in the cash economy to avoid it. The payroll tax funds current social security obligations so if anything is evaded it is paying for current retirees and into a system from which one can never benefit. Income tax evasion is another thing altogether.

One certainly CAN drive in Texas without a driver's licence even if one MAY not. Apologies for not making that more clear.

Appleby| 6.18.12 @ 6:53AM

Nobody will ever get the borders back under control. Politicians are far too busy lining their pockets (see the Parable of the Dishonest Steward) against the day they will be tossed out of the Disneyland that is American Politics and have to live under the rules they made, to worry about where all those people who can't speak or understand English came from or how they got here. Until we turn into Greece (and Canada will get there before us at the rate we're going), nobody will do anything but turtle up and pretend that since they live in Ben Stein's Universe, and everything in Ben Stein's Universe is peaceful and serene, the other stuff can be kicked down the road forever.

Bill84728| 6.19.12 @ 4:54PM

The borders will eventually come under control. They have to; our citizens can't continue to live worrying about continued depredations along the border by people who are acting like human locusts. The price will, however, be high, very high. People will band together to police border near them, and they will have encounters with illegals coming across. Sooner or later, someone will shoot and then there will be prosecutions and someone will go to prison. After that happens a few times the government will probably come to its senses. In the meantime, there will be unnecessary sacrifice at the edge of what people will be willing to make.

Under the Agenda21 plan, elitist such as Bill Kristol do not care if you are a past MBA, SMB owner or an illegal immigrant living in their "stack and pack" cattle pens, as long as Billy can control you for the benefit of the state (that means benefit of the elites in plain English).

When is this President going to be FOR the people that are citizens....He sold them out for a few votes.
No one has come up with a poll of Catholic Hispanics on how they will vote...The church community is VERY active for this coming election...they also got the "stab in the back"

MelvinNC| 6.18.12 @ 8:15AM

In my opinion that is why 99% of the worlds wealth is held by only 1%. For those of us who are old enough to remember. I remember when father worked, mom stayed home to take care of the kids, owned a home, took simple vacations, stashed money away for the kids college education, and even had enough to put what was left over into simple savings account.
Then through economic jerry rigging, to maintain that standard of living the wife even had to go to work, hence the service industry boom. Then even the Mrs. working wasn't even enough.
The other day where I read that one family had a daughter whose part time job went towards paying the electric bill.
So the middle class went from Dad, to include Mom, and now the kids are being used to not maintain a decent middle class standard of living, but just to survive.
Now CEO's and top executives are being paid millions in bonuses and their companies are failing. Somewhere along the line a portion of the wealth that the middle class used to work for now has been siphoned off.
I use the term, "Employees today now work for the company store." Coal miners used to work for companies who also ran country stores that offered credit for goods to coal miner employees at exorbitant prices. The coal miners were given just enough wages to pay down a portion of what they owed to the company store, but didn't make enough to pay the credit off. This was a viscous circle developed by the Robber Barons who ran the coal companies.

TrueBlue | 6.18.12 @ 2:29PM

Most of the stuff people see as needed "just to survive" are luxuries. iPhones, iPads, microwaves, multiple TVs, a car for every member of the family... these are NOT necessities. It's this need to live beyond their means that has gotten many people into the situation they are in today. Loans taken out in the form of credit cards, home loans they couldn't afford but were convinced it was okay by banks who were forced to give them because of FDIC requirements (and in many cases were doing so happily because it was free money to them).

This is people living beyond their means. If you are barely getting by every year and not saving money up for retirement then you obviously don't plan to retire. If you do, then you are living beyond your means. Living within what you can actually afford INCLUDES planning for the future. But nobody plans ahead anymore, everyone is assaulted on a daily basis to live in the moment, don't worry about the future; Big Daddy Government will take care of you when you get older, don't worry!

Nessus| 6.18.12 @ 3:06PM

Kwan| 6.18.12 @ 8:16AM

Obama said Friday, " This is the right thing to do." This is leftist Newspeak for: My poll numbers continue to worsen and I'm desperate. Needless to say Obama and the left would like nothing better than to flood our country with 100's of millions of uneducated desperate for gub-a-mint cheese illegals. This would complete the transformation of our country into a third-world banana republic which they believe they could easily convert into a Totalitarian Socialist State. This plan may have a lot of swiss-cheese holes in it as many hispanics are Catholic and the Catholic Church is currently under attack by the Obama administration. In the last presidential election in Mexico a Chavez communist stooge ran and was defeated. The presidential election this year has a Chavez communist stooge running for president and he is trailing by double-digits in the polls. This would seem to indicate that Mexicans are not big fans of communism.

TLP| 6.18.12 @ 5:45PM

One day soon the word "immigration" will be dropped for the English dictionary. Even now it holds less of a stigma than in years past. Obama is seeking to re-build the Rainbow Coalition. Obama does not give a fig about the future, only about his re-election. Another sell-out brought to you by Obama's run around the Constitution. Seems he has forgotten about Congress, and the American citizens. All for votes this coming fall.

John Navratil| 6.18.12 @ 10:23AM

I tend to support some of these goals and consider it foolish to suggest mass deportation. Imagine for a moment the impact of a 4 percent population reduction on the economy.

However, the ends can never justify the means and this Justice Department seems to think it can pick and choose the laws it wants to enforce. Even as I differ with some of the Conservative orthodoxy on immigration, I know that my only power is through persuasion and my vote.

The real catastrophe here is that NOTHING has been done to control the border in advance. Now that twenty-somethings know they will not be jailed or deported, what's to stop them? The only "ponies" in this gift box are that the economy is so poor that economic migration is at a stand-still and that Obama is doing everything he can to energize the conservative base. The twenty weeks until election day cannot pass quickly enough.

Derek Leaberry| 6.18.12 @ 5:11PM

Using your logic, if America added 9 million Haitians to our population, we would add perhaps 3 % to the American GNP.

John Navratil| 6.18.12 @ 6:40PM

Derek Leaberry,

I don't find that result in what I have written. First, I have not claimed any percentage of GDP attributable to the efforts in illegal workers. I merely observe that removing that economic activity will not be positive to our economy - absent consideration of transfer payments. Second, we are observing the economic impact of the actual economic migrant rather than someone who is actually not an economic migrant. The comparison is apropos only in as much as a coterie of Haitians were working here with equivalent diligence. The illegal immigrant at least has made the effort to get himself here and find a job. We haven't strewn rose petals along his path.

AllAmericanAmerican| 6.18.12 @ 11:51AM

4% fewer welfare recipients would be a good start. Send 'em back.

John Navratil| 6.18.12 @ 1:44PM

Do you have any stats on that? All the studies have seen, beginning with Don Huddleston in the 80's disagree on whether the illegal contributes more or less than they take out. In all cases, as my feeble memory recalls, the numbers have been between contributing 90 cents and something over a dollar for each dollar of benefit received. At this economic level, income tax is never a contribution, but sales taxes, gasoline taxes and property taxes (yes, renters pay property taxes) are a significant cost.

So under a mass deportation occupancy rates drop. What does that do to the value of your real estate? Sales tax revenues drop. Where does that leave your city budget? Gasoline sales drop. What does that do to highway funds? As I asked Senator Simpson in 1986, what will consumers do when crops are not harvested and the price of produce increases dramatically?

You may say, and you may be right, that the overall economy would improve. It's no so clear to me.

JD| 6.18.12 @ 3:56PM

At this point, the bottom 70% of income earners, legal or not, contribute less than they take out. That is the nature of the social welfare state. Illegals pretty much all fall on the same side of that divide.

John Navratil| 6.18.12 @ 4:34PM

JD,

That is the question, isn't it? Do they take out more than they put in? You say yes, and you may be correct. The studies I've read purporting to answer that question have bounced around the result of "pretty close to even."

Wouldn't it be ironic if the 5% who are illegal actually contribute more than the 70% to whom you refer?

AllAmericanAmerican| 6.18.12 @ 7:41PM

Well, they definitely contribute...to the prison populations, to the murder and rape statistics, and finally to democratic candidate vote counts.

AllAlericanAmerican,

See: http://bjs.ojp.usdoj.gov/content/pub/pdf/p10.pdf and refer to Table 25. You will find that ALL noncitizens comprise 5.9% of the prison and jail populations. That number includes non-citizens being held for being non-citizens and non-Hispanic citizens.

The non-citizen Hispanic makes up 5.1% of our populations. This is hardly a case for rampant criminality in this population.

Obama has not only blatantly blown his cover, but by this in-your-face act of lawlessness he has exposed his desperation. How many more arrows left in his quiver?

It’s time for some outrageous and imaginative thinking.

You too can be like Obama, when you become prez!

Consider the most divisive issue, ABORTION.

A president Romney could, a la Obama, just declare that those women who are pregnant past a month, for example, MUST carry the fetus to term, and give it up to adoption to a good, certified Republican God-fearing family.

Or else, just ban abortion, except in the case of incest or rape, and THEN pass the new “immigrant” on to stable Republican families.

How about on TAXES?

Find out who all the rich Democratic contributors are, and tax them at a confiscatory rate. Yes! Make a Warren Buffett “whole”, or a man of “integrity”, by forcing him to pay the highest possible percentage of taxes on his income---and, hey, why not on his property?---which comports with his view of what government should spend.

Deal with the hypocrite Algore! Spread HIS WEALTH!

While deportation would be economically/financially/politically prohibitive, what's needed is to effectively seal the southern border; force public school districts [and hospital emergency rooms also] to begin charging illegals amounts to cover the costs to taxpayers of their school enrollment/medical treatment costs; begin ID'ing them with TEMPORARY stay-permits [and deporting upon expiration of same] and income taxing the wages of same; and forcing fullment of citizenship requirements of those wishing to stay beyond their ID'd term-period!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oldefarte,

Agreed!

As a side comment: if it's good enough to force illegals to pay for their ER visits, isn't it good enough to force the legals to do so as well? Free ER - no one is turned away for an inability to pay - was one of the craziest things our government ever did. It's a "Kick Me!" sign on the backside of anyone with insurance.

Oldefarte| 6.18.12 @ 8:21PM

JN: Agreed. I only wish someone could possibly explain how that situation initially began of transferring ER medical costs onto the bills of insured/paying patients [and why can't we all go into a department store, claim to be financially indigent, walk out with $thousands worth of merchandise and tell the store personnel to simply TRANSFER THE PRICE-COST OF SAME ONTO THEIR PAYING/CREDIT CARD CUSTOMERS]. If hospitals can do it, why can't merchants selling to the public/consumers also? Why shouldn't hospitals [ER's] either have to eat the medical costs of incomeing indigents or demand a credit card before treating same? Seems to me that their practice of tranferring indigents medical costs should be illegal, why has not someone taken them to court in a lawsuit over same??????

Obama said, "This is the right thing to do".
So I have to wonder about Article II. Section 3 of the constitution.
"Clause 4: Caring for the faithful execution of the law
The President must "take care that the laws be faithfully executed."

Isn't following the constitution the right thing to do? Shouldn't Big O be taking care the the laws be faithfully executed rather than ignoring the laws?

Bill84728| 6.19.12 @ 5:01PM

Article II, Section 4: The President, Vice President, and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.

Bill84728| 6.19.12 @ 5:02PM

One other thing: a writ of mandamus can be brought to get a court or a law enforcement officer such as the President, to enforce the law.

Bill84728| 6.19.12 @ 5:11PM

Such a writ would have to come from the U.S. Supreme Court, but if President Obama chose to ignore them, asking "where are their legions" or other similar Jacksonian questions, then we have a clear-cut example of refusal to adhere to the law, and impeachment would become clearer.

Failing impeachment, there would be what the common law refers to as "self help," by which we, the People, could form a mob and take the President out of his office and turn him loose, into the wind.

Bill84728| 6.19.12 @ 5:14PM

...or we could just lock his worthless ass up, and then tell him that he will remain behind bars until Osama bin Laden comes to get him.

After the president's big announcement, the president of Mexico chimed in with his congratulations and encouragements. Perhaps we should start sending all of our welfare recipeints over the boarder to Mexico, and insisting that the Mexican government provide them with free schooling, medical care, and food cards. It is only the fair thing to do. And since our fearless leader is into fairness, I'm sure that he will pick up on the idea.

This nation, as a nation of laws, died during the Clinton administration. It is now a nation of the political haves and the politic have nots. Unless the working class takes back the reins of government, the Republic will have died, and we will move onto the next phase, on our way to chaos.

Obamanation has "ruled" religious organizations must provide birth control and abortion pills to its employees free of charge.

Obamanation has "ruled" selling thousands of guns to drug dealers is an effective, legal tactic...even if Americans and others are killed.

Obamanation has "ruled" leaking classified national security information that endanger Americans and allies is ok as long as they self investigate and don't do it again ( in the near future, that is).

Now, Obamanation has "ruled" his administration will not enforce immigration law.

What's next..."ruling" obamanation will stay in power indefinitely by declaring marshall law, should the economy tank in the Fall?

I knew obamanation was going to be very bad for America...but this is turning into a horror show.

It is imperative Americans to "rule" the modern day Louie and Marie in the WH are unfit to reside there.

The past is prologue and a 2nd obamanation term will tear America apart and likely down, even if the GOP takes Congress.

It is very difficult to unseat a POTUS.
A move like this is just one of many he will use to win in Nov.
Expect him to announce a mortgage amnesty program soon, and that may well seal the deal.
To the eternal detriment of America, he will likely win re-election.
A cold dark winter approaches.

"We are fast approaching the stage of the ultimate inversion: the stage where the government is free to do anything it pleases, while the citizens may act only by permission; which is the stage of the darkest periods of human history, the stage of rule by brute force." -- Ayn Rand (1905-1982)

It is a criminal Invasion! Theft of opportunity for citizens of this country and money. The democrats are working toward a population shift to increase their chances for re-election.
