Hyatt Hotel Money Funds War on Free Speech

ALEC newest target as Rush attack fails: Leaked MoveOn Memo threatened radio station.

It’s war.

And no less than the Hyatt Hotel chain is funding the War on Free Speech.

Hyatt Hotels? Really?

Yes. Really.

Specifically through the Hyatt money given to Linda Pritzker, a Hyatt heiress whose billionaire fortune comes from ownership of Hyatt stock. Ms. Pritzker is well-known as a left-wing activist and, but of course, a supporter of President Obama. Nothing new there.

What’s changed is that Pritzker’s Hyatt fortune — and the fortunes of others that come from some of America’s most prominent commercial ventures — is now being used to fuel a rapidly escalating War on Free Speech. A war with one target: conservatives.

The latest target, as we have documented, was Rush Limbaugh. After a furious assault — long on the leftist action shelf years before Rush uttered the words “Sandra Fluke” — the attack not only failed dismally, it backfired. Rush’s audience increased between 10%-60%. While his left-wing antagonists at Media Matters, MoveOn.org, and elsewhere in the web of extremist hate groups were busy confecting “lost sponsors” — 50…100…gasp…150!… — in fact Rush lost a total of 4 — 4! — actual sponsors of his show. And he has sponsors lining up to replace them.

But the game changer here is that the left is no longer content to simply use its own free speech rights to make its case. Now there is an active, intensifying campaign to go after companies that advertise in politically incorrect venues (like The Rush Limbaugh Show) — or have in any way contributed to any person or group whose activities displease.

As we have noted before, the targets have included Lou Dobbs, Glenn Beck, Pat Buchanan and in the last month, Rush Limbaugh. With, as noted here, Sean Hannity and Fox contributor and former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin on the list.

The other week we profiled how this game was being played with business executive Mark Stevens. Stevens’ business — and Stevens himself — was abruptly inundated with threatening calls and e-mails demanding he remove his company’s advertising from Rush’s show as broadcast in the New York area — or else. An incensed and decidedly heroic Stevens not only doubled down on his advertising as a result, he went on Fox News to directly take on the thugs — saying in part that what was happening to him was part of a “Battle for America.”

Stevens is right — this is a Battle for America.

And nothing could illustrate this more clearly than the fact that even as the failed attack on Rush fades, a new assault on another target begins.

The newest assault on free speech is being unleashed on ALEC — the American Legislative Exchange Council — an attack funded by Hyatt money as funneled through MoveOn.org.

Why? Well, you see, ALEC supported the “Stand Your Ground” law in Florida. The law that has now surfaced in the Trayvon Martin case. (Then-Florida Governor Jeb Bush, who signed Stand Your Ground into law, has said flatly the law doesn’t apply in this instance.) So, naturally, the left is using this as a pretext to defund ALEC — going after sponsors like Coke, Kraft, McDonald’s and others.

In other words, cut off the funding — and hence the free speech — of a conservative organization that has effectively presented conservative principles on various issues to state legislatures around the country. No less than ex-Obama aide Van Jones is helping to lead the charge on this, as seen here in this appearance on MSNBC.

Thanks Jeffrey,
It is nice to know who our opponents are. We travel a LOT, but not to Hyatt any more.

Silas Deane| 4.17.12 @ 10:28AM

As a matter of course, I do not condone the lies and distortions of the moveon.org cabal or their fellow travelers, but economic boycotts are part and parcel of democracy, whether one agrees with the intended or not. Fighting their lies with truth is the only answer.

P.S. I would not object if someone found a way to temper Sean Hannity's screaming obtuseness.

Pelleas| 4.17.12 @ 12:23PM

BRAVO, SILAS!!

While I am sort of sure you and I might not see "eye to eye" on many political issues..I applaud your brave ( at least on this site!) stance, vis-a vis the legitimacy and right to stage an economic boycott, as a pillar of a true Democracy

THANK YOU!!

AND..

we also agree on Sean Hannity's screaming, as well...lol lol!

Jack in Wi.| 4.17.12 @ 12:33PM

Talk radio hosts have always been subject to such threats. That is why they stay away frrom sensitive issues like a true and honest discussion of Middle East policy. Limbaugh and the others pull their punches on numerous issues because of potential actions like this. Conservatives can strike back by boycotting companies who support these kinds of actions and support causes we don't like. For example any company funding Planned Parenthood should be boycotted. The same goes for Hyatt Hotels or anything else owned by the Pritzger family.

ENOUGH ROPE| 4.18.12 @ 12:12PM

Someone please list the other enterprises controlled by Hyatt or Pritzker so we can pass them by.

TLP| 4.17.12 @ 10:42AM

So, what's the problem? What do we tell our kids, when another kid hits them?

Let me try this again.

What did OUR Parents tell us to do, when a kid hit us on the Playground? They told us to Hit them back. They told us that the only way to be rid of a bully, was to Kick his ass. This situation is no different.

Be the Gander. I've said this a hundred times. Ya gotta go all the way, on these MFers. You gotta get in the Mud with them, and ya gotta get Dirty.

I'm sure that there must be someone out there, with enough time on their hands, to find out who all of the Sponsors are, for all of the C*ckbite Liberal Bullsh*t Shows, and post them up here, for all the World to see. I, for one, would make 1,000 copies, and pass them out to 1,000 other people. There are way more of us, than there are of them. We will show them what Economic Terrorism, is all about.

None of these Left Wish sh*t factories have any viewers, as it is. A Boycott of the few sponsors that they still have, would put a nail right in their MFing heads.

(too harsh?)

MikeBee| 4.17.12 @ 11:21AM

TLP,
You are exactly right! In fact, I wonder if we could use Signon.org's new tools to our advantage. They mention that one can use their online tools for free, and obtain free instruction in their use. Hmmmmm......

What if thousands of conservatives signed on to SignOn, and used their tools and online advice to...................silence liberals????? Use the free stuff liberal donors have provided to go after their own corporate supporters. Or, use the tools to go after corporate supporters who are providing money to silence conservatives.

First counterpunch: right to the nose, HARD. The opponent will be unable to see, and will be in a lot of pain. Let's take it to them.

Appleby| 4.17.12 @ 7:44AM

I generally stay at the Courtyard by Marriott. Anything known against them?

Mac Jehoff| 4.17.12 @ 7:56AM

Aye, they have landing pads right in the courtyard for the black helicopters.

Grock| 4.17.12 @ 8:15AM

So much for free speech, Russian nyeht to Hyatt.

beebop2| 4.17.12 @ 8:30PM

Wonder where Linda will find her donation funds when she and her cronies have totalled f'd our economy and everyone stays home? Be careful what you ask for ....

rightasrain| 4.17.12 @ 8:52AM

Without any apparent trace of irony, the left decries Rush's alleged attempt to "silence women who dare speak out about reproductive rights" while trying to silence Rush. Having said that, however, this is still America and I accept the right of every American to support whatever political agenda he chooses, however odious I may find it. What we need is our own rapid response team to expose the left's hypocrisy, their constant assaults on free speech and the businesses that promote this unAmerican agenda.

Carol| 4.17.12 @ 9:00AM

Our rapid response team is people like Jeffrey Lord.

Indy| 4.17.12 @ 9:18AM

And Professor Jacobson at Legal Insurrection, he's done excellent work on this topic.

rightasrain| 4.17.12 @ 9:46AM

But we need to preach to more than TAS choir.

Carol| 4.17.12 @ 8:59AM

Tell everyone you know Hyatt Hotels is another enemy of America!

This stuff angers me so much.

I will not comply!

Indy| 4.17.12 @ 9:18AM

The Left cannot win on the battle of ideas, so they opt for the Alinsky playbook...shameful

Franklin| 4.17.12 @ 2:17PM

Even if that were true - so what? the Right opts for the Rove playbook.

Poppakap| 4.17.12 @ 6:09PM

Even if that were true, can you show how the so-called "Rove playbook" is patently anti-democratic and anti-American as the Alinsky tactics are?

Indy| 4.17.12 @ 10:48PM

As W asked below, what is the Rove playbook?

Alinsky's Rules for Radicals is the playbook of the Left, readers here can cite many examples of how the Left uses it, think OWS as an example and Obama's class warfare "Buffett Rule".

I am no fan of Rove, he is largely to blame of how we ended up with Obama, he fights conservatives harder than the Left, he definitely contributed to it is Mitt's turn, argh.

beebop2| 4.17.12 @ 8:31PM

Franklin? Buzz off!

W| 4.17.12 @ 8:55PM

What is the Rove playbook?

Von Mises Jr| 4.17.12 @ 9:23AM

Is there truth to State Farm being involved, Jeffrey? If so, I have a couple car insurance policies to cancel.

I refuse to buy Heinz products since that stuffy Marxist John Kerry Heinz and his mother Teresa inherited that wealth. I shall not contribute one dime more to their fortune.

Two can play this game. There are allot more of us them those commie bastards. And ironically, they went after Rush and he got a big windfall. His viewership is way up, as Mr. Lord attests.

rightasrain| 4.17.12 @ 9:59AM

I wish Heinz ketchup wasn't so darn tasty.

Von Mises Jr| 4.17.12 @ 10:01AM

I think it makes everything taste like a crap sandwich. Maybe it is in my mind?

Anthony| 4.17.12 @ 11:19AM

Oh bull, any damn ketchup will do. The most disgusting condiment ever invented to kill the taste of almost everything it touches.
I put mustard, vineger, or hot sauce on my French Fries. Ummm.

rightasrain| 4.17.12 @ 11:23AM

Sorry, Anthony, but as the commercial says, It Has To Be Heinz.

TexasMom2012| 4.17.12 @ 2:55PM

Hunts is as good if not better! But I prefer Tabasco!

Skippy| 4.17.12 @ 3:32PM

In 2004 we bought a case of "W" catsup.
As good as Heinz without the added liberal BS.

loulou| 4.17.12 @ 11:55AM

Hunts ketchup does not use high fructose corn syrup like Heinz does.

rightasrain| 4.17.12 @ 12:10PM

Simply Heinz uses sugar.

Stan Redmond| 4.17.12 @ 12:43PM

Try some of the small label "organics" or specialty gourmet ketchups. If you can find it there's a great "Banana Ketchup" made in the Caribbean.

W| 4.17.12 @ 10:45AM

Progressive Insurance is owned by a committed lefty, Peter Lewis. He funds all the lefty groups.
I have dealt with the company for clients and they are one of the worst. Trying to save every penny so they can give it to Obma.
Teresa Heinz is annoying, but she does fund a lot of charities, schools, museums, and so forth in Pgh. Her husband, John Heinz, was a good senator and very popular in Pa. Why she married Jean Kerry is a mystery. I would like to see tht pre-nup.

LiveFreeOrDie| 4.17.12 @ 11:24AM

"• Peter B Lewis/Progressive Corp -- $2,500,000 (Note: This is Progressive Insurance, the company whose cutesy ads featuring the Progressive saleswoman "Flo" (as seen here) are everywhere on TV these days."

Please notice the blatant racist television advertisement from progressive where "Flo" says, "It's the white man of keeping cash in your pocket discount." Imagine if she said, "It's the black man can afford it discount" or something similar. Racist tripe from the left is not only O.K., it's featured nationally in a commercial. Media? Silence. Nobody even noticed!

Mike Hawk| 4.17.12 @ 11:30AM

Lurch has no connection to the Heinz company or operations. Neither does Tahrehzza aside from owning stock. Boycotting Heinz products has no impact on Lurch or Mrs Lurch. Only Heinz employees and you. BTW, Lurch hates tomatoes and anything made with tomatoes. He is a pompous ass. Eat more tomatoes and dedicate all consumption to Lurch.

DG in GA| 4.17.12 @ 12:16PM

Since Mrs Lurch owns a TON of stock, buying Heinz products enriches her AND her pet poodle Kerry.

W| 4.17.12 @ 6:09PM

Von
State Farm was the insurer that insured Bubba under an umbrella policy that paid the $900,000 to Paula to comepensate her for Bubba's less than amorous advances.
I believe State Farm at first denied coverage on the basis that Bubba's conduct, or misconduct, was not a covered event. But then it reversed and provided coverage and paid. As you know inusurance companies do that all the time!

A. Fox| 4.17.12 @ 9:35AM

Well, the list keeps getting longer of the Corps. where my money will not be spent. I have known about little miss "hineass" of hyatt yrs. ago. Me and my wife, who travel alot 10-12 times a yr. have never used "hineass of hyatt hotels" ever! Independent Living magazine states and I quote there are 740+ people leaving the US each day because of Obamass policies and that will increase if he is re-elected. These are people either leaving for good or buying property so they can leave if nessary me included. I own property in Panama with passport if needed. I like that country ever since I was stationed their in the late 70's.

RCV| 4.17.12 @ 12:30PM

Adios...

David W| 4.17.12 @ 10:00AM

What the liberals who donate to the leftist organizations don't realize is that if the leftists win they are out on their butts. Their "earned" or "unearned" wealth will be taken from them and give to the slackers that make up the leftist army. They fail to look at what happened in the USSR, Red China, and Cambodia.

Gary B| 4.17.12 @ 10:09AM

Yup... liberalism is a mental disorder and this is one of the symptoms.

The country is finally waking up to the silliness of political correctness, as there are much bigger fisht to fry. So, I wouldn't worry too much about these dopes. They're the modern-day equivalent of village idiots. Ridicule is the best weapon to use against them.

Stan Redmond| 4.17.12 @ 12:47PM

But they feel good in the meantime. There is also the belief that as one of the members of the elite intellectuals is that THEY themselves will be the ones in charge of the utopia they support.

Bob S| 4.17.12 @ 6:04PM

They are what in Communist Russia were referred to as "useful idiots".

Mark| 4.17.12 @ 10:20AM

I stayed at a Hyatt once and there were bed bugs. Reported it to bedbug.com. You should do the same!

Anthony| 4.17.12 @ 11:21AM

Leftists are America's bedbugs!!! Call the Orkin man and.......

TexasMom2012| 4.17.12 @ 3:00PM

I use Hartz in the Houston area. The service guys are polite, efficient and really good at their job! And if you see another bug that quarter, they come back and respray gratis! We have used them since 88.

KennesawJack| 4.17.12 @ 10:28AM

Seriously, folks. Why don't we all do something pro-active and start with Progressive Insurance. If you have coverage with them, replace it with someone else and cancel theirs. Encourage everyone you know to do likewise. Like everyone else who regularly visits this site, I find venting palative, but why not actually do something about this nonsense? Boycotting Hyatt won't do a damn thing. The funding isn't coming from Hyatt but from a Hyatt heiress. Boycotting Progressive, in a big way, will get someone's attention.

LMajito| 4.17.12 @ 10:46AM

wow i did this at the turn of this century when i found out about the libtard that owns it

LMajito| 4.17.12 @ 10:47AM

and btw did same with hbo...love many specials in there...but can't digest that banana nose little jew maher...

KennesawJack| 4.17.12 @ 11:04AM

Likewise, I cancelled HBO a long time ago.

KennesawJack| 4.17.12 @ 11:06AM

BTW, the "banana-nosed little Jew" bit was/is uncalled for. That the way liberals act, not rational human beings.

Tommix| 4.17.12 @ 11:38AM

I think the 'banana nose little Jew, Maher' is a Catholic. No one can hate Catholicism that much without being a Catholic.

W| 4.17.12 @ 11:57AM

I believe Maher's parents are Jewish and one Catholic. His religion is liberalism, not Catholic or Judaism. He is a little weasel.

DG in GA| 4.17.12 @ 12:19PM

I believe GEICO is also connected to Soros. Anyone know the facts on that?

I know a few young people who were suckered into buying car insurance from Progressive and Geico only to find out that they were woefully underinsured when the time came for a claim. This whole "name your own price" and "buy it on the internet in less than 15 minutes" are good at sucking people in, but are not a good business decision for the consumer. And here I thought the libs were oh, so, concerned about the well-bring of the average Joe.

W| 4.17.12 @ 12:44PM

I use Geico and have found them honest and efficient. When you buy online you have to be careful to choose the correct coverage using the menu for each item, and not just ask for the cheapest rate. If you take your time to use the Geico menu, you should not have a problem.
I don't think Soros is connected to Geico. Warren Buffet's stock, Berkshire Hathaway, owns a ton of it since its inception.

Indy| 4.17.12 @ 10:54PM

Correct, Buffett - Berkshire acquired an equity stake in the Government Employees Insurance Company (GEICO), which forms the core of its insurance operations today (and is a major source of capital for Berkshire Hathaway's other investments).

Jack London| 4.17.12 @ 10:47AM

How long can Lord go on with these pathetic, whining articles I wonder. Does he really want a world where the only political view allowed is the far right, as embodied by organizations like ALEC, which promotes model legislation to enforce voter ID, stand your ground license to murder laws etc?

You would have thought that political opposition is American free speech - but no, Lord wants the left to leave ALEC alone by, er, not talking about it. Why? Surely its wonderful work is robust enough to stand the test of scrutiny?

So Jeffrey - what about it. Would you support a bill that bans any criticism of you and your fine far-right friends?

KennesawJack| 4.17.12 @ 11:08AM

Tell me, seriously, what do you think about the "Fairness Doctrine"?

Jeffrey Lord| 4.17.12 @ 11:19AM

Jack...

Are you serious? I believe in free speech. Period. I'm not trying to silence the other side...I am making sure their attempts to silence our side fail miserably. You seem confused.

Jack London| 4.17.12 @ 11:37AM

Fine Jeffrey, but stop pretending that opposing ALEC etc is wrong. Your articles can be boiled down to:

'How dare those lefties marshal resources like this. That's our methodology.'

You just don't like it when there's a hint of big money and organization finally countering your extremism.

Occam's Tool| 4.17.12 @ 11:40AM

London, london...dammit, where's my iron heel to squash the bug...

Skippy| 4.17.12 @ 4:06PM

Surrender is the prescription when liberals percieve that conservatives are winning.

Bob S| 4.17.12 @ 5:59PM

It's not just opposing ALEC, fool, it's actively trying to silence them. I know to your employers at Media Matters there's little difference, but the two actions are worlds apart. You're either horribly misguided by your MM handlers, or you are deliberately trying to mislead in accordance with your MM marching orders.

KennesawJack| 4.17.12 @ 11:37AM

No, I'm not confused. It seems to me that all Lord is doing is shedding light on the individuals/corporations that support muzzling our side by intimidating and boycotting entities that do support us. Why not use the same weapons they use? If you advocate not trying to silence the other side then it occurs to me you advocate standing idly by while they fire away. No where do I see Lord calling for allowing only the political views of the right. Methinks thou protest too much.

KennesawJack| 4.17.12 @ 11:38AM

Everyone, please ignore my inane post above. I thought I was replying to a post from JL. My bad.

KennesawJack| 4.17.12 @ 11:40AM

Belay that. After reading JL's response to Jeffrey, I resubmit the post in its entirety.

KennesawJack| 4.17.12 @ 11:42AM

Above in reply to JL. (God! I hate having to reply to myself!)

Jack London| 4.17.12 @ 12:20PM

But it's not a 'war on free speech', which Lord is pretending it is. Anyway, ALEC is a far-right agency funded to introduce repressive laws. I would say decent people have a moral duty to use their free speech rights to speak out about it, and Lord has conceded they have every right to do so.

Jeffrey Lord| 4.17.12 @ 12:53PM

Jack...

"Anyway, ALEC is a far-right agency funded to introduce repressive laws"

Who says? A liberal says. That's all. Others see it differently.

Jack London| 4.17.12 @ 1:23PM

That's right Jeffrey, so let's have a debate about the issues ALEC is promoting, and not a phoney whine about 'free speech'.

Purp| 4.17.12 @ 1:57PM

Bingo! You got him ... good show Jack. I submit that any organization that has to perform it's duties in secret is hiding something. Whether it's secret donors, secret associations, secret anything, the light of day will disinfect and that is not against free speech, just against secrecy and conspiracy. And ALEC has promoted both.
If a Quid Pro Quo link is ever proven between ALEC corporate members and it's right wing legislative members - watch the subpoenas fly! I'm not sure, but they sure seem pretty close to that.

Jack London| 4.17.12 @ 2:39PM

He won't debate the issues though Purp – too busy hiding, as you say. They have a lot of blood on their hands with the 'stand your ground' laws and there's a thinly disguised racism over the voter ID moves.

What shocks me is that corporations such as Coca-Cola and Wendy's supported ALEC anyway – I guess even they now see that there has to be a track back from corporate subversion of democracy. See the colorofchange site for more.

Skippy| 4.17.12 @ 4:09PM

I display the blood on my hands from supporting self-defense laws with pride.
I'm sure you are equally proud of the aborted babies' blood on yours.

Bob S| 4.17.12 @ 5:54PM

Why am I getting the feeling that Purp/Franklin and Jack are the same person?

How much do you get paid by Media Matters?

LiveFreeOrDie| 4.17.12 @ 6:15PM

"I submit that any organization that has to perform it's duties in secret is hiding something."

Agreed, Obama definitely has something to hide.

Bob S| 4.17.12 @ 5:56PM

Yeah, so forcing radio stations to remove shows that Media Matters et al. don't agree with "for good, period" isn't an assault on free speech at all. Forcing sponsors of those shows to leave the show "or else" isn't an indication in the slightest that there's a war on free speech.

Bob S| 4.17.12 @ 6:02PM

Mr Lord, I suggest you stop responding to Jack London, Purp, or Franklin, who in all likelihood are all one person employed by Media Matters to spread misinformation and bait people like yourself to say something they can add to their list of quotes.

Stan Redmond| 4.17.12 @ 12:55PM

I would like to direct you to a great story of Obama voters handing over their social security cards and state issued IDs to apply for "FREE" Obama money. So Obama voters can secure a state issued ID for free money and welfare but not for voting.

http://abclocal.go.com/wabc/st.....id=8623276

ALEC has promoted good legislation. Espcially with regards to voter ID. By the way. With EVERYONE required to purchase health insurance (hopefully the whole craptastic law is struck down) would that not mean EVERYONE would have to have an ID to prove they are who they say they are.

And yes boycott Progressive, Hyatt, MSNBC advertisers and all those liberal causes. They are supporting the destruction of America.

Purp| 4.17.12 @ 2:02PM

Since the America you grew up in was NOT Conservative America - why do you hate the country you grew up in?
The Founders weren't conservatives, why are you? It's anti-American.

Skippy| 4.17.12 @ 4:10PM

I grew up in conservative America.
"Whether you like it or not!"

Poppakap| 4.17.12 @ 6:23PM

Let's see, the Founders fought against ever increasing government control of their lives so they could live in a meritocracy. Hmmmm, sounds like conservatives to me.

W| 4.17.12 @ 8:57PM

Purp,
If you believe the Founders were not conservative what were they?

beebop2| 4.17.12 @ 8:35PM

You're kidding, right? The left doesn't think anyone who doesn't agree with them is entitled to breathe.

Delta Zelda| 4.17.12 @ 11:34AM

Have you thought about changing channels? Who is holding a loaded and cocked .357 to your head forcing you to watch Hannity, et al? I don’t like listening to liberals’ lines, so I don’t watch/listen to their programs. Keep your blood pressure down by using that wonderful, high tech device each of us has: the OFF button!

Purp| 4.17.12 @ 2:00PM

Why don't you check out what the other side has to say. 50% of the country can't be all wrong. Moreover, what if the right wing is wrong on something? They won't tell you - it's against their propaganda machine.

Skippy| 4.17.12 @ 4:11PM

I know what they have to say.
That's why I reject them after I hear them.

Bob S| 4.17.12 @ 5:50PM

Maybe not wrong, more like horribly misguided by promises of free food, free housing, and free healthcare.

Why have a real job when you can spend your day spreading propaganda online, right Purp/Franklin?

Poppakap| 4.17.12 @ 6:32PM

50% of the country? That's not only an extraordinary fabrication (yeah, I'm calling you a liar), it's incredibly funny given its illusions of power and grandeur.

Pinkos make up 20% of the US population, and this number has been stable for several decades. Conservatives are 45% of the population, and independants are 35% of the population.

Logan| 4.17.12 @ 8:59PM

Poppakap, How do you explain Obama winning with such a huge margin in 2008 with a Democratic House and Senate if only 20% are pinkos?

Mickeybutane| 4.18.12 @ 1:04PM

White guilt

Occam's Tool| 4.17.12 @ 11:41AM

I keep up with stuff by reading Jeff Lord. I don't watch Fox.

loulou| 4.17.12 @ 11:58AM

Ditto.

Petronius| 4.17.12 @ 12:54PM

Speech on the open bands of radio is not free. It is commercial. The biggest enemy of the left is commerce because it is competitive. All life on earth IS competition. Competing requires EFFORT and WORK. The left is allergic to Work because they are also allergic to THINKING. And when all of the taxes and imposts on Commerce has brought this nation to utter ruin and this worthless mob of infantile lowlife has eaten out and destroyed our substance and the carnage begins they will discover very quickly that parasites cannot survive without a host. It's too long passed time when the babies should have been spanked and sent to bed without supper. The problem exposed in this column is that the hosts of corporate entities are all too willing to succor these parasites to garner their approval as their acolytes own and control the media. If you own stock in any company filled with lefties, vote against their boards and send your dividends to Conservative candidates for anything from school board posts on up. And keep listening to Rush. We, the audience make his show. Commercial speech on radio belongs to US.

Franklin| 4.17.12 @ 2:04PM

The country isn't hurting because of liberal policies, so what are you talking about.

TexasMom2012| 4.17.12 @ 3:09PM

Really? Obamacare slashed Medicare funding by a half Trillion dollars... Don't you think that might hurt seniors? Especially poor seniors that trusted the Feds promises on SS and Medicare? How about the billions flushed down the cesspool of pie-in-the-sky green energy schemes? How about the 150000 extra regulators that Obama has added in 3 years along with tons on new regulations strangling business. How about withdrawals of previously issued drilling permits? How about regulating coal plants out of business driving up energy prices artificially? I could go on ... But I have already destroyed your point.

Nite| 4.17.12 @ 5:25PM

You are correct with all of your comments. Obama and his minions with cooperation of the Dems in Congress are destroying this country.

Franklin| 4.17.12 @ 5:40PM

Actually, no you haven't destroyed a thing ... You can pick up those talking points anywhere.
No on Medicare, because the Medicare cuts were to the subsidies for the Medicare Advantage program, which gave subsidies to the insurance companies ... it made no cuts to actual Medicare. Don't you remember the insurance companies howling about it? Why should we indulge Corporate Welfare?
Green energy is in its infancy. If we had thought as you do, there would be no combustion engine, no composite materials, no superconducting and a host of other vital improvements that weren't profitable to start with. If the government doesn't supply seed money to get new industries off the ground - who will?
I don't submit to the Over regulation myth - no business likes to be regulated. But that's not reality. Whether for employee safety, customer safety or to meet a common standard for products and services, there's nothing wrong with regulation. I could do without the TSA intrusive searches though.
Drilling permit changes happen all the time, that's nothing new. Did you hear that more coal has been found in the Alaskan artic than all the coal that has ever been found worldwide combined? We are far and away the Saudi Arabia of Coal - on Steroids. We need to spend some money to make coal cleaner and cheaper, so we can exploit that valuable resource - Trillions of Tons of Coal I hear...

Poppakap| 4.17.12 @ 6:39PM

...and we won't be able to access that coal (clean coal or otherwise) because of left-wing environmental policies. Obummer himself has openly stated a desire for driving coal companies out of business.

Seriously, green energy in its infancy? Lefty's have been pushing this crap for 50 years and have yet to discover an alternative energy source that they will support that comes within 2% of the efficiency and power generation of fossil fuels. Even more damning, the leftist hypocrisy on renewable energy is so glaring that its an open joke. "Wind turbines in Hyannis Port? Hell no. It may block the views of the Kennedy compound." 'Nuff said.

Skippy| 4.17.12 @ 4:12PM

No, it's dying because of liberal policies.

LeoInTheWoods| 4.17.12 @ 5:34PM

Excuse me - I equate ALL of contemporary political debate to liberal policy. Johnson decided not to take action when Germany, Italy and South Korea were subsidizing their steel industry so heavily that they could dump it on the US market at lower than their own production cost, and the town I grew up in and an entire industry (steel) died in America, putting tens of thousands of unionized steel workers out of work and on the dole. Clinton's decision to decouple China's trading status from human rights and then make that status permanent (the latter with GOP support, the former with both houses Dem) did the same thing to all the rest of the industrial sector, which was the source of all the revenue that our safety net depended on. What would the debate be about today, if there was still a revenue stream from a stron industrial sector, and the industrial middle class were still paying taxes instead of collecting benefits today?

What would the international scene be today, had Jimmy Carter (my C-in-C when I served) taken me to war and squashed the theocracy in Iran when it was still in the bud?

Would 9/11 have happened at all? If Carter hadn't also de-emphasised human intelligence for electronic intelligence, would we have been informed and prevented it?

Yes, our country is more than hurting, it's bleeding out because of liberal policies. The DNC has been undermining everything productive and good in the US for decades, and has caused every issue we battle with in the blogs in in our lives.

Franklin| 4.17.12 @ 5:48PM

Are you serious? Really?
Now which party do you think supports Corporate America? Which legistlators do the ALEC Corporate types meet with? And, Corporate America is doing just fine. Gangbusters even. Haven't you noticed?
Let's not forget that Reagan followed Carter for 8 years followed by Reagan III - I mean Bush 41, and there was plenty of time to invade Iran then, as they both did when they felt it necessary.
Really, you only present 1/2 the story on all of these - the side that supports your premise. But there is the rest of the story that, i dunno, you may be unaware of?

Poppakap| 4.17.12 @ 6:43PM

Dude, do you read the crapola you write before posting? You are becoming a parody of yourself.

When exactly did Reagan and Bush invade Iran? Sounds like your an all-too eager consumer of information from those models of objectivity like Al Jazeera and the Tehran Times.

LeoInTheWoods| 4.17.12 @ 7:29PM

Reagan expanded on Carter's policy of using eletronic inte vs. human, as did Bush 41 and Clinton. The policy was liberal. That's the problem with policy - it stays beyond a single administration. My point is about policy.

LeoInTheWoods| 4.17.12 @ 7:31PM

Corporate America didn't end the American industrial revolution and put an end to the American middle class with trade policy. Liberal Democrat leaders put policy into place that did... and, they used your union dues to do it. How's that working out for ya?

LeoInTheWoods| 4.18.12 @ 7:08AM

And, let me tell you - Corporate America pays taxes to America. Where are the tax revenues for the Pacific new rim industrial sector going to? What American social programs are they paying for?

Bob S| 4.17.12 @ 5:48PM

Yes, let's conveniently ignore how Clinton's HUD bullied banks into giving mortgages to those who didn't have a hope in the world of affording them.

Buck Ofama| 4.17.12 @ 1:07PM

It's easy to understand poor liberals, whose slogan is "you owe me."

I don't understand what drives these limousine liberals to their misguided ideology. I can only conclude that it's a neurosis, perhaps rooted in unconscious guilt over being filthy rich.

Either way- if you're dirt poor or filthy rich, it's easy to be liberal. If you're in the middle, you're FVCKED.

FVCK OVOMIT, AND FVCK HIS CAMEL.

Franklin| 4.17.12 @ 2:14PM

you need help ...

Skippy| 4.17.12 @ 4:13PM

It will arrive in November.

Mickeybutane| 4.18.12 @ 1:08PM

Looking in the mirror again, eh, fool?
Liberalism is a mental disorder - your the asshat that needs help - it screams from your words everytime you post - help me! I'm stupid! Help me!!!!

Purp| 4.17.12 @ 1:50PM

It's hilarious when I read the faux outrage at tactics that the right-wing has used for years. ALEC wages a coordinated campaign between right-wing legislators and corporations to promote their own agenda. Nothing wrong with that - but they try to do it in secret, with donors trying to remain anonymous (why? - because many of these bills are anti-minority, anti-woman, anti-elderly, etc. and if the voters found out, they would be enraged against the corporations) . And so the people HAVE found out, are enraged and the jig is up. Too bad, so sad - conspiracy is illegal in this country.
Legislation in the various states almost say word for word what the other state bills say - why is that ? - because ALEC's corporate entities have written the bill and promoted it out to the various right wingers around the states.
Now, they have been found out, and the left is fighting back. Nothing wrong with that either.
But it is funny when the right wing machine gets caught with its pants down ... Have a nice day.

Citizen Jerry| 4.17.12 @ 2:37PM

You really should see your physician about that bad case of cranio-rectal inversion.

Franklin| 4.17.12 @ 2:55PM

WOW - you told me, didn't you ... adolescent.

Bob S| 4.17.12 @ 5:46PM

Is it Purp, or Franklin? If you're not honest about an identity, why should we trust you? I guess it's a typical Media Matters tactic: invent several pseudonyms to give the illusion of consensus. Purp and Franklin are a couple of your approved pseudonyms. But you goofed when you used both for one identity.

Mickeybutane| 4.18.12 @ 1:22PM

Frankenpoop or whoever you are -
Is media doesn't matters paying you to utter these totally inane comments to draw our ire? If so, they only make you look like the fool you are. Cast your anti-american vote for the muslim marxist if you like but he's going down in November fool asshat. Now get off your Mom and go clean your basement room.

Petronius| 4.17.12 @ 3:49PM

gearjammer| 4.17.12 @ 9:43PM

Pissing your pants jackoff-want the old days when it was just your NGOS Aclu, Aarp, common cause, sierra, nea on and on dominating the landscape. The hard guys are fighting back buddy boy-IN YOUR FACE !

Orygun| 4.17.12 @ 2:33PM

Another nice article! Keep up the good work! The marxist's are really good at projecting their own hateful policies as their opponents. Was it the Right screaming in protest and sneaking legislation through that pushes their control closer and closer to absolute. It is a matter of looking at the style of rallies like in Wisconsin and you see the nasty hateful dialogue of the left. They try to bully and silence everyone. It is a mean and vicious system of corruption that has failed historically every time it has been tried. Somehow they think it is going to be different this time.
History does indeed repeat itself.
I tell my children that you should always give your money to people you like if at all possible.
Your article promotes that same philosophy.

ansonheath| 4.17.12 @ 3:44PM

It is becoming increasingly clear to me that the majority of American people can see that President Zero, the MSM, the Race Hustlers and the rest of the Scam artists 'have no clothes'. The only ones who can't see are President Zero, the MSM, the Race Hustlers and the rest of the Scam artists.

steve100| 4.17.12 @ 3:48PM

I never did understand why Rush did not demolish this attack on his sponsors. All he had to do was name the sponsors who cancelled. If his listeners were aware of those cancelling sponsors, the free market would have provided the desired punishment. I recall that one of Rush's sponsor had been "Lifelock" and they have been one of the sponsors who cancelled in response to the Fluke flap. If Rush identified them as a cancelling sponsor, they would have lost significant business by people cancelling their service. Did this happen?

Owen K| 4.17.12 @ 4:58PM

No Hyatt Hotels stay for me in the future.

Jeff| 4.17.12 @ 5:19PM

How about using http://signon.org to promote petitions against organizations such as MoveOn.org?

Bob S| 4.17.12 @ 6:11PM

First, don't support any of their ventures, including SignOn, so don't use it.

Second, they'll probably censor you anyway.

Nite| 4.17.12 @ 5:27PM

I will not stay at any Hyatt Hotel anymore and will ask that none of my family do either. The only thing people like this understands is taking hits in the pocketbook.

Osamas Pajamas| 4.17.12 @ 5:28PM

Boycott all Hyatt hotel properties and possibly also some of their commercial customers.

Bob S| 4.17.12 @ 5:40PM

Thank you, Mr Lord, for being a champion of truth. You won't see this exposure anywhere in the mainstream media.

Purp| 4.17.12 @ 5:51PM

That's for dang sure you won't ... this story is unbalanced, full of misinformation and has not been fact-checked. But I guess you don't care about facts - they get in the way of your political beliefs, don't they?

Bob S| 4.17.12 @ 6:10PM

Purp, we all know who you are. I know who you are. Your misinformation will not work here. Are you getting paid by the hour or by the post? Has to be one of those, otherwise you wouldn't be wasting your time posting, and inventing other names like Jack London and Franklin.

Poppakap| 4.17.12 @ 6:54PM

As a result of his highly influential and significantly persuasive screed, Purp got a nice $1 in-kind check donated to the community organizer in chief. Paid for, of course, by Komrade Soros.

Have pity on Purp, he doesn't have a job or ambition beyond trolling conservative sites. Should he ever recognize the futility of his ideology or efforts here, his entire world would implode into incurable self-loathing.

Too late you say?

Jimbo the Coastie| 4.17.12 @ 6:14PM

Great article as usual Mr. Lord. Some of us would appreciate a master list on line somewhere of the corporations or their major stockholders that contribute to leftist causes so we don't use them. A list of our supporters would be great too.

Thanks
Retired Coastie

Shaboe Delucks| 4.17.12 @ 6:31PM

You can't be serious. This is the kind of irresponsible scaremongering that gives conservatives a bad name and makes me want to go take a bath on your behalf. Is it really necessary to point out that Hyatt Hotels and Linda Pritzker are not the same? Should we find out what stocks Buffett and Soros and, hell, I don't know, Susan Sarandon, Sean Penn, and Michael Moore, own, and then boycott those corporations? This is insane. Every column by this Lord guy is like this. Why does TAS allow this?

Poppakap| 4.17.12 @ 6:56PM

How exactly is pointing out the tactics of the hard left scaremongering? Methinks you protest too much, and in so doing betray your motives.

pm85| 4.17.12 @ 8:06PM

Having patiently read through all of the above, the obvious patterns must be observed. You don't need their identifying pseudonyms to identify them (Jack London, Purp, et. al); you can tell by a very ovbious lack of specifics: Jack London suggests pairing Mr. Lords very specific information with the old baseball bat beating of conservatives by trying to get them off the air through boycotting (debate vs. stifling of debate). No facts! No response - just a baseball bat. How blind can he be to equate speech with economic extortion (the baseball bat)? Poor Purp is merely paranoid (still living in the early '60's, seeing racists behind every tree; not realizing how banal that canard has become to try to shut people up with different than progressive-statist views).

One of the obvious give aways to the raging frustration of the Lefties is their deranged projection of their own methods as to be those used by the Conservative movement. Last time I heard about folks bashing in windows (Org. Wallstreet) and putting unlawful bounties on the heads of alleged bad guys (New Black Panthers), those phenomena of anarchy did not involve Conservatives.

Die Fledermaus| 4.18.12 @ 11:23PM

I'm surprised Hyatt has any money or it's stock is worth anything.

Their hotels suck.
