Divestment Revisionist

The Anti-Israel Religious Left targets the presiding bishop of the Episcopal Church.

The anti-Israel Religious Left has a new target for its fury, and it’s not anybody like old nemeses like evangelical Zionists Pat Robertson or John Hagee. It is Episcopal Church Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori, who recently dared to criticize anti-Israel divestment schemes.

“The Episcopal Church does not endorse divestment or boycott,” Jefferts Schori recently told a Los Angeles “peacemakers” luncheon. “It’s not going to be helpful to endorse divestment or boycotts of Israel. It will only end in punishing Palestinians economically.”

Although reliably liberal and politically correct, Jefferts Schori and most of her denomination don’t identify with anti-Israel zealotry. In contrast, zealous activists within the United Methodist Church and Presbyterian Church (USA) are trying to persuade their upcoming governing conventions to target Israel for divestment. Episcopal Church opposition makes their argument more difficult.

So understandably, anti-Israel groups like Sabeel are distressed. “If the church is afraid to cry out against injustice and oppression, the living stones, the common people will cry out,” warned Sabeel chief Naim Ateek in a letter to Jefferts Schori. Based in Jerusalem, Sabeel is a nexus for anti-Israel organizing between Palestinian churches and Western church activists. Guided by the last remaining vestiges of Liberation Theology, which shook the world in the 1970s by linking Christianity with Marxist revolution, Sabeel summons churches to rally for Palestinian “liberation” from Israeli oppression. Ateek is himself an Anglican priest and frequent speaker in the U.S.

Ateek told Jefferts Schori that her anti-divestment remarks had “shocked and hurt us,” by which he presumably meant Palestinian Christians for whom he purports to speak. Theatrically, and citing Holy Week, he described their pain over her stance to Christ’s suffering during His crucifixion: “They felt like nails hammered into our bodies and the truth of our reality, as though we Palestinians are living a lie — only imagining things, and if we only eat, talk, and share our stories, everything will be alright.”

Recalling the “ongoing agony, pain, and oppression of our people” across “40 years of misery,” Ateek told Jefferts Schori with anguish that, “We only hear ‘the Episcopal Church does not endorse divestment or boycott.’” Painful indeed.

Ateek cheekily told the offending Presiding Bishop that Palestinians had already recognized Israel in 1988 and its right to exist in 1993, had also renounced “terrorism” (which he put in quotes) and generously accepted a Palestinian state on 22% of “historic Palestine,” i.e. the West Bank and Gaza. Yet still the occupation inexplicably grinds on. Only boycott, divestment, and sanctions as “nonviolent direct action” can serve the common good at this point, Ateek explained.

“We thank God for those people — Christians, Muslims, and Jews who have eyes to

see and ears to hear,” Ateek declared, implicitly contrasting them with Jefferts Schori. “Thank God for people of conscience who are lifting up their prophetic

voice!” He cited retired South African Archbishop Desmond Tutu, who ostensibly has declared Israel’s policies worse than Apartheid. Ateek closed by remembering Christ as He entered Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, greeted by victims of Roman oppression, and refusing to silence the crowds. Of course, Jesus did not offer political revolution but redemption from sin. But the prophets of Liberation Theology, now fewer in number since Marxism’s demise, were never very

interested in redemption.

Another angry voice over Jefferts Schori’s audacity in not backing anti-Israel divestment is James Wall, an ordained United Methodist who for many years edited the once prestigious liberal Protestant journal Christian Century. Wall’s political and theological myopia led that magazine almost to ruin, until he was succeeded by more moderate voices. But Wall is not silent, especially regarding Israeli oppression and its abettors, apparently including Jefferts Schori. “An appalling shallowness has descended over Mainline Protestantism,” he sneered over her refusal to back divestment.

“Martin Luther King, sitting in that Birmingham city jail, would most certainly inform these prelates that there is no debating evil,” Wall harrumphed. “A brutal military occupation is not open to debate.” He tut-tutted the “collective ignorance” in the Mainline denominations that refuse to aim their battering rams against Israel, on an issue that is “justice, pure and simple.”

He implicitly dismissed the likes of Jefferts Schori as “robed religiosos, dripping with interfaith piety.”

Wall intemperately likened Jefferts Schori’s urging of constructive investment among Palestinians to performing good works inside the “largest outdoor prison.” He also likened her remarks to “blatant Israeli propaganda” and compared her to

Now that my Easter Truce is over, I would like to commend Gunter Grass for his fine and truthful poem on Israel and Iran. You can tell it is the truth when you hear the howling coming from the ususal suspects. It is long since time for Germans to speak up. All the money and weapons that they have sent to Israel are being used to bully and terrorize the whole Middle East.

As for a boycott of Israel, it worked for South Africa, which was a far better place. Nelson Madella and Bishop Tutu both have called Israeli Apartheid worse then the South African kind. Of course I tend to be against boycotts and sanctions. I would rather people come to their senses by themselves through moral responsibility. It is time for sane Jews to take over from thr lunatics who run Israel before the whole world finally just stops doing business with the racist regime.

Frekki| 4.9.12 @ 8:51AM

Man is your head screwed on backwards. People like you is why I am no longer a Presbyterian.

Mike Hawk| 4.9.12 @ 9:31AM

I am a Presbyterian. Jack isn't. We are in a bigtime struggle to keep the PCUSA from being PC and become like the Episcopals. Hopefully the laity will prevail. You are no help.

Bobloblaw| 4.9.12 @ 9:16AM

""As for a boycott of Israel, it worked for South Africa, which was a far better place""

Which is why 1m whites have fled the country and SA has a murder rate 9x that of the USA.

""Nelson Madella and Bishop Tutu both have called Israeli Apartheid worse then the South African kind"" They have done no such thing and Goldstone said Israel is NOT an apartheid state.

""It is time for sane Jews to take over from thr lunatics who run Israel before the whole world finally just stops doing business with the racist regime."" You mean Kapo Jews?

Youre a true Jew hater. Youd love nothing more than so see Hiter's job finished once and for all.

This week you rant against Israel and plea for "sane" Jews to end the existence of the state of Israel. But last week you railed against Communism being created by Jews. But those Jews were mostly anti-Zionist and Communism existed long before the state of Israel.

So tell us Jack. Why do you hate the Jews so? You make Pat Buchanan look like a member of AIPAC.

Bobloblaw| 4.9.12 @ 9:19AM

I should also mention there is essentially a genocide going on against whites in SA. Something no doubt Jack would like to see happen to Jews.

Jack if Israel goes away what happens to the 7m Jews who live there. Might they move to the USA>

la comedia e finito| 4.9.12 @ 12:07PM

There is NO "GENOCIDE" against white people, going on in South Africa, today---and to even imply that there is , is racist insanity of the worst kind.

Yup... there is a fairy high crime rate, but that has more to do with a widening disparity between the haves and have nots, in SA.. and the crime rate crossses all racial borders, and is affecting EVERYONE

What do you suggest... returning to " the good old days of Racist Afrikkaner rule?, eh?....

Skippy| 4.9.12 @ 5:43PM

If it lowers the murder rate, sure.
SA is not the US, but the blacks there seem bent on out-savaging our blacks.
What is it about black leaders worldwide?
Are they all incapable of supporting civilization?

la comedia e finito| 4.9.12 @ 6:48PM

"What is it about black leaders worldwide?
Are they all incapable of supporting civilization?"

YOU ARE BENEATH CONTEMPT,FOR THAT NAUSEATING REMARK.....!

Vox Populi| 4.9.12 @ 9:31AM

When you admire an SS man like Grass you've got real mental ptoblems.

Herb| 4.9.12 @ 10:30AM

Gunter Grass is a worthless unrepentant Waffen SS-man and Jew-hater. Your admiration for this piece of Nazi scum speaks volumes about yourself.

la comedia e finito| 4.9.12 @ 12:11PM

Grass HAS NEVER-EVER uttered an anti-semitic slur... at least for public attribution..

Questioning Israeli policies vis-a-vis the Palestianian tragedy DOES NOT MAKE ONE ANTI-SEMITC... I am very PROUD of my Jewish heritage, AND , believe in Israel's right to exisit ( within certain borders), but condemn many of the repressive actions of the Israeli regime, as well....

Occam's Tool| 4.9.12 @ 3:51PM

It is illegal in Germany for Gunter Grass to reveal his true feelings. He served in the SS. That is sufficient. In short, with all due respect, Comedian, he would kill you and never think twice. Please.

Jack in Wi.| 4.9.12 @ 5:00PM

Occam: You who advocate mass murder repeatedly on this site should be the last one to call names. The surpression of free speech in Germany is disgusting. It forbids a really honest discussion of events about both the war and Middle East policy.

Skippy| 4.9.12 @ 6:21PM

Honest discussions like how the filthy Jews got what they deserved?

KennesawJack| 4.9.12 @ 6:39PM

That is precisely what Jack means.

Jack in Wi.| 4.9.12 @ 8:18PM

It forbids an honest examination about things like the Morgenthu Plan and it's attempt to kill 30 million Germans after the war using starvation and desease. It also stops a lot of discussion of a lot of Israeli crimes in the present day as well as horrible Israeli policies like the Samson option. Tell me Berlin, Munich, and Frankfort are not targeted for destruction in such a plan. The Germans sold the Israeli's the submarines which can be armed with nuclear missles aimed right at them. Yet there is no discussion allowed in Germany about history or real Middle East issues.

Grass brought up just a few of these issues and is pilloried for some fact that he joined a gung ho outfit like the marines when he was 17. If personal history is supposed to stop you from discussing history or current affairs, why do all these old Trotskyite Communists in the neoconservaticve movement have so much to say?

Herb| 4.9.12 @ 11:20PM

First of all, NaziJack, learn to spell. The Morgenthau Plan called for the `pastoralization' of Germany to eliminate its ability to manufacture the engines of war. Proposed in 1944 when the destructive capacity of the Nazi war machine was overwhelmingly evident, it was quickly shelved by FDR and buried by Harry Truman when he endorsed the Marshall Plan for the rebuilding of western Europe. Truman, you'll be happy to know, insured that the U.S. was the very first nation to extend diplomatic recognition to the new state of Israel.

Say, Jack, do you know all the verses to the "Horst Wessel-Lied"?

Jack in Wi.| 4.10.12 @ 2:41AM

It still caused the deaths of 2 to 3 million Germans, by planned starvation and desease. That they didn't kill the 30 million is thanks to some brave people who put a stop to it. How come Mogenthau wasn't hung for his crimes along with the American Presidents and military officials who implemented it? Most of Hitler's vitims died of starvation and desease. Then there is Operation Keelhaul which caused many many deaths after the war and in which we, the British and French were complicit. How about the terrible treatment of German prisoners of war, after the war, where large numbers died? How about the gang raping of millions of german women after the war? If all this was honestly discussed in Germany the Germans would not be so ignorant of their history. Of course there is no real honest debate or discussion on Middle East policy in this country either. Anyone who brings it forward for real public debate is attacked as an anti semite.

Nick| 4.10.12 @ 6:53AM

The only one ignorant of history is you, Jack-boot.
Why don't you tell us all about how The Protocols of the Elders of Zion is real history too?
I'll bet that The Turner Diaries is your favorite book, huh?

Politely Perturbed| 4.10.12 @ 6:45PM

Well, "polite" Herb, I do recall a former U.S. president putting it in black on white in early 1947, after his return from Germany.

"there is the illusion that the new Germany left after the annexations can be reduced to a "Pastoral State." It cannot be done unless we exterminate or move 25,000,000 people out of it. This would approximately reduce Germany to the density of the population in France."
http://digicoll.library.wisc.e.....87&isize=M

Since Roosevelt had croaked already in early 1945 it does not seem he did a very good job of shelving it, does it?

For seconds we have another quote:

"Troops were specifically ordered not to let American food supplies go to hungry Germans. American households were instructed not to let their German maids have leftovers; excess food was to be destroyed or rendered inedible"
http://www.independent.org/pub......asp?a=599

Very generous in a defeated and occupied country full of war-orphans and refugees from the Allied territorial annexations, but perhaps there were less of them after a while.

As to the soldiers, some of them parents of the children in Germany that the U.S. soldiers were forbidden to feed, they were no better off.
"On 4 February 1946, the ICRC was allowed to send relief into the American zone".
(max links reached. Its from the homepage of the International Committee of the Red Cross, Google the sentence and you'll get there)

Those on the photo look mighty hungry. They remind me of other photos I've seen from that decade. Counting the months leaves us with almost 9 months in which the Red Cross was kept by the US from providing food to its prisoners. You may argue that the German conscripts had somehow deserved it, but at the same time the U.S. created an interesting precedent in that the government can not in the future with a straight face complain if a hostile country prohibits the Red Cross from feeding or visiting US POWs'.

But of course you knew all this already, so I apologize for rehashing what any intellectual worth his name is aware of.

Wade Smith| 4.10.12 @ 8:42PM

Waffen-SS EQUALS the US Marine Corp? You are full of excrement! The Waffen-SS ran the concentration camps! The US Marines, Army, and Navy liberated those camps.

Soljerblue| 4.10.12 @ 10:50PM

"...a gung ho outfit like the marines..."

Seems to me your knowledge of WWII history, and especially that of the German Reich, is bereft. The Waffen SS was anything but "a gung-ho outfit like the marines." It was an armed force that perpetrated atrocities everywhere it went. Google Oradour(2nd SS Panzer Division Das Reich), or Malmedy(SS Kampfgrupp Peiper), or numerous instances of a "gungho outfit like the marines" when they operated on the Eastern Front. You're an idiot, Jack, and an anti-Semite, too.

la comedia e finito| 4.9.12 @ 6:54PM

Sorry, Tool..

THAT IS NOT "SUFFICIENT" enough for me...even someone who had one's relative murdered by the SS, such as I did, doesn't assume that Grass.. ( unless I am shown the evidence.). was guilty of war-crimes, himself...or harbors any stronger anti-Semitic views that 95% of most non-Jews do, to begin with...

KyMouse| 4.9.12 @ 10:33AM

In December 2007, a survey that was part of the Israel Public Opinion Update found that most (62%) Arab citizens of Israel would rather remain Israeli citizens rather than become citizens of a future Palestinian state.

A poll conducted by Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government in June 2008 reported that 77% of Israeli-Arabs would rather remain in their native land as Israeli citizens than in any other country in the world.

Alan Brooks| 4.9.12 @ 5:01PM

KennesawJack| 4.9.12 @ 6:40PM

In your dreams, Alan. In your dreams.

Jozy Wales| 4.12.12 @ 12:12AM

Spoken like a true Nazi worm . You and your follow KKK/American Nazis can boycott all you want. Israel doesn't need the US . They can sell billions in weapons to China. Israel makes better weapons in many key areas than the KKK/USA represented by scum like you. So while the US sinks deeper into second world status after they reelect the imbecilic Muslim . Israel can finally rid itself of the American Jew Hatred . The leaders of Israel were elected by much smarter people then reside in the US. The US is run by a stupid white hating lunatic. When are Americans going to come to their senses? At least Israel doesn't lynch people who defend themselves as George Zimmerman found it. I wouldn't be surprised if Al Sharpton is president in 12 years. Nelson Mandela and mildly retarded dwarf aren't qualified to mop floors in a modern nation. Israel must be terrified that a country which getting closer to the stone age where whites are murdered every day is going to boycott Israel. Guess what? Israel isn't in the market for spears or other stone items SA sells.

oldfart| 4.9.12 @ 7:43AM

Hurray for the Episcopal Communion.
The Methodist Communion and others continue to to suck it up to mephistopheles.

Teaghan| 4.9.12 @ 8:18AM

Throw the Presbyterians in that pot too.

Mike Hawk| 4.9.12 @ 9:31AM

Throw the hierarchy there, not the local congregations.

Vern Crisler| 4.9.12 @ 12:18PM

Soon as I heard about a woman bishop, I stopped reading. Nuff said. If they won't obey the Bible in small things, why should they in large things?

Alan Brooks| 4.9.12 @ 5:02PM

You know why he calls himself oldfart/oldfarte? it is a ploy to head criticism of his fusty ways off at the pass.

Appleby| 4.9.12 @ 7:58AM

The Episcopal church is in enough trouble trying to hang on to its congregations without adding insult to injury, and I am relieved to see that at least one of their heirarchy realizes this. Listening to the "Palestinian" liberation armies whine is just exactly like listening to your 14 year old daughter scream that "You NEVER let me do ANYTHING I want to do! I HATE YOU!" and should be answered the same way, with a brusque, "Oh, for heaven's sake, go lie down and get over it!"

oldfart| 4.9.12 @ 8:09AM

Bingo!

Bobloblaw| 4.9.12 @ 9:20AM

Good news for Israel is that the chruches belonging to the religious left are mostly empty.

Occam's Tool| 4.9.12 @ 3:52PM

And getting emptier by the day. Just like Jack's head.

Louis Jenkins| 4.9.12 @ 9:27AM

Katharine Jefferts Schori is a woman!! No where biblical does it say that a woman is to run a church of God, even an Episcopal Church. What a travesty! The only good thing that can be said is she is not after the young boys, at least not that has been told. Why is church attendance slipping? That's just one of the many problems that the Christian church now has. Read the Bible and understand.

Louis Jenkins| 4.9.12 @ 9:32PM

Gentlemen and Ladies:

Please do not make fun of of the Bible. 1st Timothy chapt. 2 written by Paul to Timothy (post crucifiction):

vs 11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.

vs 12 But I suffer not a woman to teach nor usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.

vs 13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve.

You may call me what you wish, you may call me a Muslim of which I am not, you may even call me ignorant. No, I do not try to give you Mrs., or Ms., or Miss Glass a bad name. I have merely stated my belief, of which everyone here has an abundance of.

KennesawJack| 4.9.12 @ 10:40AM

You'd make a great muslim.

KennesawJack| 4.9.12 @ 10:40AM

Above was in reply to Louis Jenkins.

Mike Hawk| 4.9.12 @ 11:23AM

Maybe Jenk does not realize the Episcopal church id not exist in Bilical times. In fact none of them did till after the crucifiction. Then again he may not be that bright.

SeymourGlass| 4.9.12 @ 4:13PM

Mike Hawk: you DO realize there ARE "Bilical times" (sic) AFTER the crucifixion? I'm not a member of the Episcopal Church but I'm guessing they trace themselves to the early Church which IS discussed in Acts, et al.

That said, it's tempting to consider "Jenk" a theological liberal who, by spouting nonsense, is trying to give those who disdain ordination of women (like me) a bad name.

Jack in Wi.| 4.9.12 @ 4:54PM

Are you kidding? I am the most theologically and politicalliy conservative person here. That witch who calls herself a bishop is against all that I believe in. The fact remains that boycotts are not very Christian. That is why the Pope has condemned them in regards to both Cuba and Iraq pre- 2003. They punish the people on the bottom like women. old people, and children. Meanwhile the people on the top still live well. We all know the Israeli's will punish their Palistinian hellots before any of the Jewish Israeli's suffer any loss from a boycott.

SeymourGlass| 4.9.12 @ 8:36PM

You remind me of that old story about a monkey and a typewriter...

Roger Collingsworth| 4.9.12 @ 10:41AM

Only an ignoramous or a liar would make a statement that Israel's treatment of the Palestinians is worse than Apartheid ever was. Israeli Arabs, who are mostly Palestinian, do not have to serve in the military and are given a free university education. In addition, there are several Arabs in the Israeli Knesset, or Parliament.

The Palestinians problem is their own failed leadership, whether the late terrorist and psychopath Yasser Arafat, or the incompetent and weak Mohammed Abbas. They spend little of their billions in foreign donations to better the lives of their own people and instead live in mansions and drive luxury cars which they in turn lavish on their lackeys. They continue to tell their people they will be able to return to their homes from 1948 when they know that is a lie. Meanwhile, Israel remains one of the top five countries in the world in technology, and is a vibrant democracy.

Some people hate Jews so much that they will make up whatever lies they can to discredit and debase the State of Israel. Like America it is a democracy that has its flaws but any normal person who has ever visited Israel and spent time there realizes which side wants peace and an end to the conflict and which side does not.

The people who want to divest and boycott Israel remained silent when thousands of rockets from Hezbollah hit Israeli homes, hospitals and schools, remain silent when Jews are killed in suicide bombings on Israeli busses, and in Israeli supermarkets, restaurants, and shopping malls, and remain silent when the most heinous lies are said against Israel and the Jewish people. These same people remained silent when childrens textbooks in Saudi Arabia call Jews and Christians monkeys and pigs, and have remained silent while Syria has murdered more than 10,000 of its citizens. Israel has not killed anywhere near the total of Palestinians in sixty years that Syria has killed in one year, and 90% of the Palestinians killed by Israel were terrorists.

Those who want ot boycott and divest from Israel are Jew haters and it's time the truth be stated.

KennesawJack| 4.9.12 @ 12:31PM

Only an ignoramus, a liar or a self-hating Jew (of which there are apparently many) is a more accurate descriptor but your point is well taken.

SeymourGlass| 4.9.12 @ 4:14PM

"...a self-hating Jew ..."

I'm just curious about this. Are you making the statement that it's the person's Judaism which causes their self-hatred? If so, how do you explain the millions of non-Jews who possess self-hatred? If not, why do you mention it?

Skippy| 4.9.12 @ 6:28PM

I call them "Jim Jones Jews".
Like Babs Boxer and UpChuck Schumer, they think disarmament and surrender are the paths to peace.
Guyanan Koolaid has nothing on these folks!

KennesawJack| 4.9.12 @ 6:42PM

Noam Chomsky comes to mind....

SeymourGlass| 4.9.12 @ 8:37PM

So you have no answer to my simple questions.

I'm shocked.

KennesawJack| 4.9.12 @ 9:04PM

Actually, I believe a large number of Jews have responed to centuries of anti-Semitism by buying into it. You know, kind of like white guilt electing the muslim Marxist. Sort of a "You know, maybe if I cheer for the destruction of Israel, folks may forget I'm Jewish and like me. F-ing pathetic. Understand this Seymour, ANY Jew who doesnt't defend the right of Jews to an Israeli homeland is, by extension, santioning the slaughter of innocent Jewish children by Hamas, Hezbollah, and the rest of those seeking to finish what Hitler started. If you're one of them, you should be ashamed. Very ashamed.

Politely Perturbed| 4.10.12 @ 7:00PM

I think the best answer to that comment is to encourage everyone to view a documentary called "Defamation", by an Israeli Jew and incidentally on the very topic that seems to be discussed here.
http://www.defamation-thefilm......glish.html

From the blurb:
"Is anyone who expresses anti-Zionist opinions necessarily also anti-Semitic? Is anti-Semitism itself still an endemic and dangerous global problem? Has remembering the Holocaust become an unhealthy obsession, perhaps with a hidden agenda? Will readers regard a Jewish critic as a self-hating Jew just for considering Israeli helmer Yoav Shamir's personal, occasionally irreverent "Defamation" an ace slice of provocative, timely docu-making?"

Wade Smith| 4.10.12 @ 8:55PM

"Is anyone who expresses anti-Zionist opinions necessarily also anti-Semitic?:
To the extent you want to destroy Israel the answer is YES!
"Is anti-Semitism itself still an endemic and dangerous global problem?"
Ask the murdered Jews killed by Hamas rockets, suicide bombers, etc. The answer is YES!
"Has remembering the Holocaust become an unhealthy obsession, perhaps with a hidden agenda?"
No, if 6 million of your group were marched off to the NAZI concentration camps and killed you would not ask such a stupid question. The fact that you can menas even if you see yourself as an "Israeli" you are not a Jew. Mayne you think those 'Jews' in Europe brought their destruction on themselves?

"Will readers regard a Jewish critic as a self-hating Jew just for considering Israeli helmer Yoav Shamir's personal, occasionally irreverent "Defamation" an ace slice of provocative, timely docu-making?""

YES!

Occam's Tool| 4.9.12 @ 3:55PM

Roger, that was so perfectly said I think I'm going to post it everywhere I can (with proper attribution, of course).

Jack in Wi.| 4.9.12 @ 9:52PM

Nelson Mandela and Desmond Tutu both have called Israeli apartheid worse. I think they have some experiene on the subject. No one was more outspoken about the evils of Apartheid and American segregation then the Jews of those countries. It is about time you guys lived what you have beeen preaching. God told in the book of Leviticus. To love your neighbor as yourself. It is time to get with God's program.

Wade Smith| 4.10.12 @ 8:56PM

So DEMAND that the Arabs stop trying to eliminate by murder Israel.

Jozy Wales| 4.12.12 @ 12:26AM

Guess what Jack. There never was any Palestine or "Palestinians" known more accurately as Fakestinians. Leaders of Hamas just admitted all the people of Gaza are originally from Egypt , Saudi Arabia, or Syria . So you are the biggest fool imaginable when you boycott people who reside in their homeland of 3600 years because they allegedly took the land of a fictitious people. What was the capital of Palestine? What were it's borders? You can't answer because there never was a nation known as Palestine. But SA's leaders where the average IQ of blacks is 70 know Israel should be boycotted. The same country of geniuses whose President Jacob Zuma doesn''t believe AIDS is spread by sexual contact . Jack when are you going to stop occupying land taken from native Americans?

Andrew B| 4.9.12 @ 10:58AM

The Presiding Bishop is Exhibit A in why I left the Episcopal Church. That being said, I have to applaud her stand on this issue. Like the proverbial broken clock, she is right on this, and I wish more Protestant leaders would follow her lead.

bagittagit| 4.9.12 @ 11:57AM

That may be a strong stand for the likes of her, but a pitifully weak stand for someone representing the Truth. She didn't stand up against the lies being hurled against Israelies; she ducked and claimed to be helping Palestinians in another way. Let's put an end to grading lefties on a moral curve. Either they get it right or get run over.

Occam's Tool| 4.9.12 @ 3:54PM

Christie's Israel trip was damage control against his promoting muslim judges, which also makes the trip a campaign expense on the public's dime. I like Toomey and Rubio best, also Bobby Jindal. I think Ryan fits your 'strategic choice' candidate better than Christie. Wisconsin is more valuable than NJ. Ryan's budget plan is too modest but it provides stark contrast to Obama's $1.5 tril red ink per year until we go under Plan. If Scott Walker survives the June 5th recall election, I predict Ryan will be the VP with a national campaign against unionized bueracrats to help Reps at the state level as well.

bagittagit, thanks for your nice comments. Bobby Jindal already declined. I also like Paul Ryan, but giving that electoral (13) votes of NJ, I would prefer Chris Christie. Gov. Walker will survive the recall effort, and GOP will carry WI in 2012. Pat Toomey is also a good VP, GOP must win PA.

Bill,

So now your new thing is to come in and post totally off-topic rants?

Nick| 4.9.12 @ 8:03PM

The Bruce,

It is Billy the Bigot's only thing.

He is a liberal troll, who pretends to be somewhat conservative, with posts like the one above.
Then he posts racist comments to make conservatives look bad.

So, is Nelson Mandela the Greatest Guy Ever or a the Worst Guy Ever?

He said what he said.

Stop whining when reminded about it.

Respond to WHAT HE SAID.

--Great piece!

BTW ---check this out!

"---Paris is now a birka state. Since
Obama's come into office MILLIONS
upon MILLIONS of muslims have been
settled across our mid west. The little
Calvinist churches are shut down. There
are mosques going up all over the place.
Understand, the NEO-Cons are really
just a bunch of Trotskyists who realized
that their NWO couldn't be brought in
without a relgious component. ISLAM
is to be that component. MASS conversions
are coming. In fact, if you examine the
REAL background of capstone 'MAY-SIN-Re'
you will find ALLLLL their rituals are derived
from ISLAM. I have laid this out in great detail
before 33rd degree 'MAY--SINS' and they
have nodded all the way through. When
King Philip condemned the Templars themselves
for being stealth muslim converts ---he was
right! The very gothic cathedrals themselves
may be part of this takeover. Remember,
ISLAM attacked the west ------FIRST."
