The first two partner with a third. Radio One, which owns NewsOne. NewsOne, being home base for the Reverend Al’s radio show. Which in turn… ahhhh, patience.
Safe to say between the three — AOL, Arianna, and Al — there’s enough hypocrisy to choke the entire field of horses in the next Kentucky Derby.
You saw all this foo-foo, right?
The haughty statement on Rush Limbaugh issued by AOL and published by its partner in the AOL Huffington Post Media Group? This statement:
“At AOL one of our core values is that we act with integrity,” said Maureen Sullivan, an AOL spokeswoman who confirmed the decision. “We have monitored the unfolding events and have determined that Mr. Limbaugh’s comments are not in line with our values. As a result we have made the decision to suspend advertising on The Rush Limbaugh Radio show.”
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh really?
AOL’s “core values” were at stake. AOL must “act with integrity.” AOL has determined that a poor choice of words by Rush Limbaugh, his apology notwithstanding, “are not in line with our values.”
And so, with as much ostentatious banging of the media drums as they could muster, AOL “made the decision to suspend advertising on The Rush Limbaugh Radio show.”
Core values? Integrity?
Seriously?

My recollection is that Rush was criticizing Fox because Fox made a commercial for some Democrat running for office and purposely did not take his medication so that his movements and effects of Parkinson's were very obvious to make whatever point Fox wanted to make for the Dems. Rush was not making fun of Parkinson but criticizing Fox for using Parkinson's disease for a political ad.

For those not as well versed as you, Dr. Thomas Sowell is about 80 years young and a black conservative PHD of Economics now at the Hoover Institute. Sowell writes on preferential policies, cultures and migrations, economics and current events, and also has great books on intellectuals and liberal "Utopianism." If I were to recommend just one, "Vision of the Anointed" is superb. It is similar to Levin's new book "Ameritopia."

The book deals with the speech Bill Cosby made on these issues.

As for advertisers being 'threatened', they were not being faced with violence but of loss of reputation and business, and I'm sure some of the advertisers also felt Limbaugh had crossed a line. You are of course entitled to your feeling that Limbaugh's remarks are 'false pretences', but other people have different feelings. You may not like those feelings and I'm sure you don't have any friends who hold them, but people have a right to them, and to voice them.

As a side noe a week ago an editorial by Steve and Cokie Roberts blasting Rush was run in my local newspaper in Annapolis, Md. I wrote a response letter to the editor which of course was never published. However 3 letters to the editor praising the Robert's editorial were run. Not one suppoting Rush was published.
