NBC News ‘Punk Faggot’ Scandal Erupts

Phil Griffin, Brian Williams, Al Sharpton, and Comcast: Nightly News anchor and “Reverend Al.”

Erica, thanks for your patience. My deadline is 4pm tomorrow, Thursday. I’m sure these are uncomfortable questions for Brian Williams. But clearly the subject of what is/is not appropriate conduct by hosts of radio/television shows has been raised by Mr. Limbaugh’s critics. Reinforced by the dismissal by MSNBC president Phil Griffin of commentator Pat Buchanan over what has been said to be writings that do not belong in the “civil discourse” of American politics. There has been a move to force sponsors from Mr. Limbaugh’s shows — shows no more controversial to conservatives than Mr. Williams’s broadcasts and those of MSNBC are to liberals.

The need to clear the air on NBC News standards, and those of MSNBC and Comcast, is apparent.

Thanks.

Ms. Masonhall did not respond for Mr. Williams, nor did Mr. Williams himself. (And also note: Yes, I typed an extra “t” on “events.” Ah well. Spelling was good for me… typing not so much. Then again, it’s not exactly like hiring a TV host who has a problem with “punk faggots”…)

A third e-mail was sent to the Chairman and CEO of Comcast — the owner of NBC/Universal and of MSNBC. Brian Roberts is the ultimate boss of Phil Griffin, Brian Williams, and Reverend Sharpton.

That letter to Mr. Roberts’ headquarters at the address supplied by Comcast read:

Hi….

This is Jeff Lord from The American Spectator.

I had a piece today on the apparent double standard with Comcast’s MSNBC and their approach to free speech. Much has been made at MSNBC over Rush Limbaugh, yet I have found audio tapes of MSNBC’s Al Sharpton castigating former Mayor Dinkins of New York using the “n” word, essentially spewing the “n word” in a speech. In another he refers to “Greek homos” and in still another “Chinamen” etc. The tapes are found here.

I’d like to talk with Brian Roberts about Comcast standards. The recent dismissal of longtime conservative commentator Pat Buchanan generated a press report that MSNBC president Phil Griffin didn’t think Buchanan’s recent book belonged in the public discourse. Yet somehow, when an MSNBC host — on tape — repeatedly uses a racist slur and refers to “Greek homos” etc. — this seems to be of no concern to Comcast.

Mr. Roberts is the boss here. I would like to understand what seems to be a considerable disconnect when it comes to Comcast standards.

I will be working on an article on Mr. Griffin.

Thanks.

There has been no response from Comcast’s Mr. Roberts.

THIS BLATANT DOUBLE STANDARD has drawn the attention of the ever-vigilant Brent Bozell over at the Media Research Center. Mincing no words, Bozell has called for Griffin’s resignation.

Bill| 3.16.12 @ 6:40AM

NBC is Obama's re-elction team. Al Sharpton is Obama's "Joseph Goebbels."

Brian Mc| 3.16.12 @ 6:48AM

Sorry, Bill, I believe you give Al more credit than he deserves. Using your analogy to the Nazis, Mr. Sharpton is no more than a SS oberst with a dog leash.

Bill| 3.16.12 @ 7:28AM

Agreed.

One if by land...| 3.16.12 @ 3:41PM

To bad the person in the audience he dared to "come do something" didn't.

Lil' Biggs| 3.16.12 @ 6:57PM

The SS would have shot Sharpton on site, I don't believe they cared for his kind none too much...

Jacob R| 3.18.12 @ 7:08AM

Do you understand the premise behind an analogy?

I might say "I'm driving like a woman right now", it doesn't mean I have to actually be female.

JJ| 3.16.12 @ 11:37AM

He has competition from Chris Matthews. I had to listen to him, when someone had MSNBC on the TV. It was too much when I heard Chrissy demand that someone "Do IN" Sarah Palin.

Lil' Biggs| 3.16.12 @ 7:04PM

I think that someone should beat the crap out of these newscastors and NBC execs whenever they see them out just for GP. A simple assault charge.

beebop2| 3.17.12 @ 7:41AM

He also opined (or was it Oblathermann) that someone should take Hillary Clinton into a room and only one of them come out. Yeah, those guys on the left just llllllllllove women ...

Occam's Tool| 3.18.12 @ 7:30PM

My nurse practitioner (who listens to NPR every day and deservedly makes less than me, therefore ;)) asks me why I don't read Mother Jones in addition to National review, etc. I've told her because it is predictable. You see one media talking head idiot, you know what the herd thinks, like exploring the deeper thoughts of a group of IQ 30s. There is no "there" there.

Alan Brooks| 3.16.12 @ 12:01PM

For every Sharpton there is a Duke- they 'cancel each other out' so to say.

Jim Gierlach| 3.16.12 @ 1:04PM

Mr Brooks, what national cable chanel is Duke broadcasting on? What nationally known and conservatively endorsed website does Duke spew on? If you cannot ID them, I respectfully suggest that you keep your mouth shut and allow yourself to be thought of as a fool, rather than removing all doubt.

Purp| 3.16.12 @ 1:33PM

He's not, but Fox has Bill "Tiller, the Baby Killer" O'Reilly, Hannity and did have Beck for years. Not exactly a pleasant crew.
The fact you don't like that the left has some just like yours is tough - you started it and it was copied. Now live with it or change it.
As if you have some high moral grounds - pffft.

Nick| 3.16.12 @ 1:41PM

Yeah, right!
O'Reilly, Hannity, and Beck are the equivalent of David Duke? Only in your feeble, liberal mind.

Shouldn't you be defending Sandy the Slut?
Or, are you to busy working to pay for her contraception?

Purp| 3.16.12 @ 8:06PM

the Left does not claim Duke you fool .. do you know anything? You really think the Left likes a white supremacist? Really? Guess who he belongs to?

Nick| 3.16.12 @ 11:13PM

You really are a mental midget, you know that Purp?

It was you who equated Duke with the Fox News Channel hosts, not I.
Where did I state that Duke was on left?
Your reading comprehension is as poor as Jack Moscow's. Moron.

4sailing| 3.18.12 @ 8:52AM

Yes, I do believe the left loves the white supremicist. After all we have a dem running down here in bama who goes around quoting Nathan Bedford Forest. We've got dems down here protesting against HB56 - which if they were to win means farmers can hire illegals for slave wages. We've got a president mandating anti faith to the Catholics - another group the KKK disliked. So yes I do think the dems regard the white supremicist in pretty high regard. Same as they regard those who dislike women - oh speaking of that - Dems have Bill Maher for fundraiser. Dems are a bunch of lying hypocrits but no worries - their actions speak much louder than your lies.

jmulcahy1| 3.18.12 @ 10:29PM

I present as evidence Grand Kleagle Democratic Majority Leader Robert C. Byrd.

Yes, the left likes white supremacists as long as they are for wealth redistribution.

One if by land...| 3.16.12 @ 3:48PM

So, Purp obviously means stupid in some language. Which one?

beebop2| 3.16.12 @ 6:13PM

Please. By all means, if you have some tape or evidence of the type of "discourse" from the Al Sharpton (I will not dignify him with the title "Rev"), bring it. Otherwise? Try talking out of the other side of your lefty mouth. You know, the punk faggot side ....

Purp| 3.16.12 @ 8:06PM

Like I said ... As if...

African Warrior | 3.17.12 @ 3:58AM

No matter how hard they try to squelch the truth, they can never cover over the irrefutable facts that reveal Ol' Uncle Al to be today as he has always been, a truly ignorant Racist Liberal Nazi Extortionist Bigot.

The race baiting hate mongering that is MSNBC is nothing more than a reflection of the Racialist Liberal Democratic Party they endorse.

Although the Democratic Party and those who support it may have changed their habitat, they can never change the Racist spots they have born since their inception.

Any who would dare to seek political gain or financial profit by evoking Racism as a social weapon, one derived from one of the purist forms of evil ever to be unleashed upon the world, which serves not only as an eminent danger to our society, but to all of humanity as well. Such political and media Racialist and their followers are truly the greatest Terrorist threats our Republic faces today.

Anyone who would even dare attempt to justify a well proven Racist Two Bit Red Bone Closet Criminal Wannabe like Uncle AL's actions, can be deemed at best as nothing less than a very poor judge of character.

I must admit I was a little surprised that the author of this article, and Media Resource failed to include the evidence from two Philly FBI stings, which exposed Sharpton's involvement in at least two criminal conspiracies involving the discussion and/or planning of illegal narcotics distribution, and government contract pandering, as well as his misappropriation of campaign contributions in excess of $100,000, for personal use.

Even though his good Ol' Buddy Boys Obama and Holder have managed to quietly sweep these criminal indiscretions beneath the corrupted Media rug, even though they are still remain well documented on video, audio, and extensively on paper as well.

As for Mr. Gaines/Griffins hypocritical response per request from this articles author, "As we said when we hired Rev. Sharpton, we didn't hire the Al Sharpton of 1989, we hired the Al Sharpton of 2011."

Perhaps then, Mr. Gaines/Griffin would care to explain their slanderous non stop assaults attempting to falsely portray Ron Paul as a Racist for something that appeared in a newsletter which was printed in the same general time frame as Sharpton was spewing his racist, bigoted rants not in writing but from his own vile mouth, while they still to this day cite the same old newsletter as justification for their defamation of Dr. Paul.

Even though that justification is based solely upon the simple fact that the newsletter bore his name, even though they know for a fact that it was not even written by him, and has been consistently repudiated by the President of the Texas NAACP to be an absurd allegation.

Both Mr. Gaines/Griffin's double standards now serve to irrefutably confirm them to be nothing less than the Two Faced Hate Mongering Racialist Bigots they have always been. It is by that standard that they today measure those they hire and/or retain as so called analyst & propaganda pundits, as well as those they choose to market their despotic diatribe to on a daily basis.

Boycotting has never been successful at doing what it claims it wishes to do, although it is exceptionally good a achieving its true purpose of filling the coffers of those who seek to instigate them, they are purely intended as a self-serving tactic.

If one truly wishes to send a collective message directly into the networks and sponsors board rooms, then use their own tool as a weapon against them.

All who have satellite or cable, simply pick up your remote and throw both the network and their sponsors out of your home by "Locking/Blocking" their channel from being viewed.

That data is transmitted back to every provider and resold as a series of collect data packets back to the marketers, and the networks on a daily bases.

If those who have the DVR Receivers from the provider, and want to really express your distain to their sponsors even louder, rather than viewing programming in the live mode either delay it by pausing or simply record the show then watch it.

Each time a targeted sponsors ad begins skip over it. Each click of your remote creates a series of data packets that tell how long you remain on a channel before switching, as well as how long you watch the sponsors ad. It is from such data as this that the networks set their advertising rates, and marketers use to determine their ad campaigns.

If a mere few hundred thousand out of a few hundred million do this individually it will produce results in time, however if it is a coordinated effort carried out by a collective group, those numbers will immediately translate into a significant enough negative fluctuation in the Corporations bottom line profits, which are addressed by their boards and/or their chief executive department heads on a weekly bases, if not daily depending on the severity of the response.

The very tool they have put into your hands, can be turned into a weapon of dissent against the Corporatist Left Wing Oligopoly that manipulates and controls both our Media, and our Government by way of the Regulatory Bureaucracy.

They can not silence such a form of mass protest without having a significant impact on that which is worshiped by all corporations, their Sacred Bottom Line.

For those who will surly seek to denounce such a tactic as useless, I will remind you to look at what a single individual managed to accomplish regarding the GODADDYS ill fated support of SOPA debacle.

Individual and collective product divestment will render a virtually instantaneous result that cannot, much less will not go unaddressed by the corporate powers to be.

Primarily because there is absolutely nothing Big Sis or Big Brother can do to thwart it, because it is receiver technology they literally forced upon the people and the industry that is being utilized against them.

Sargint Rock| 3.17.12 @ 3:28PM

Excellent info, sir.Your input is decisive! You also raise a prime point about racism. The left always wants to point to the David Dukes of the world, as they scurry to protect their Jacksons and Sharptons. In the end racism is color blind, It's all about power not skin color!

Jack in Wi.| 3.17.12 @ 6:28AM

To Purp: I don't especially like O' Reilly and gave up on Fox News 10 years ago when they went all war all the time. The fact of the matter is that Tiller was a killer. He was a mass murderer who killed thousands of late term babies and loved his work. You Democrat shills are a disgisting bunch. What do the Democrats stand for but war, abortion, homosex, sky high taxes, massive wasteful regulations, and surpression of dissent?

madnessofjack| 3.17.12 @ 7:30PM

make believe historical revisionism.....
the allegation the "we" started it is patently false.
the current state of incivility can be trace right back
to the talk show hosts like phil donahue, michael douglas, etc..it just took you soc.progs. to push the envelope via people like bill maher on "politically incorrect".
The only "change" thats going to happen is "we" are going after "you", the days of "us" just taking it are over.

One if by land...| 3.16.12 @ 3:45PM

Thank you Jim!

Stan REdmond| 3.16.12 @ 3:44PM

How many riots and deaths is David Duke responsible for?

Lil' Biggs| 3.16.12 @ 7:10PM

Actually...none, It's always been the left stirring up trouble.
Bring the facts about Dukes to the table or stfu.
I don't like klansmen , but I'm not going to lie about them to justify liberal rhetoric.

Stan REdmond| 3.16.12 @ 7:22PM

Exactly. Al Sharpton can directly be blamed for the Freddy's Fashion Mart atrocities.

Dick Nome| 3.18.12 @ 9:45PM

Duke has more in common with Democrats. Klansmen were overwhelmingly Democrats and two of their heros venerated by Liberals would be Robt 'Sheets" Byrd, Sen of W VA and Hugo BLack of SCOTUS. Both deceased now.

Alan Brooks | 3.17.12 @ 3:18PM

Duke doesn't need what Sharpton has, Duke has http://www.stormfront.org

Purp| 3.16.12 @ 1:28PM

How nice ... you have Fixed News, we have MSNBC ... so what?

One if by land...| 3.16.12 @ 3:49PM

It means with MSNBC you do not have NEWS!!! Lies are not news. Being told what to say isn't reporting. Crazy, I know. Hang in there little fella, you'll get it one day.

irish19| 3.16.12 @ 7:15PM

I doubt it.

Purp| 3.16.12 @ 8:04PM

That's my point ... you don't have news either. So what?

beebop2| 3.17.12 @ 7:47AM

People actually WATCH Fox ....

Alan Brooks | 3.17.12 @ 3:19PM

"People actually WATCH Fox ...."

Because Fox is sensationalized.

madnessofjack| 3.17.12 @ 7:32PM

R...A....T....I....N....G....S..
thats whats up, hommie.

art| 3.16.12 @ 3:01PM

Credit must be given to Mr. Sharpton for being able to actually identify a "punk faggot". Does he know many ? Are they small animals like bunnies..???

One if by land...| 3.16.12 @ 3:52PM

My best guess would be that it is a pile/bundle of the slow burning firework lighters. I could be worng though.

Lil' Biggs| 3.16.12 @ 7:12PM

You can identify them by their Obama stickers and buttons.

Sargint Rock| 3.17.12 @ 3:31PM

Gerbils, remember?

Brian Mc| 3.16.12 @ 6:44AM

Your efforts are appreciated, Mr. Lord. I will be honored to link this to FB. Unfortunately, I can envision the results already; I may get a couple 'likes' from those who actively take note of what's going on in the world. The rest will fall asleep halfway down the first page if they bother to open the link at all. An indictment of voters entrusted with the direction we are headed to say the least...being an alarmist, I blame myself for crying 'wolf' too many times there, with links to TAS articles. Still, it won't stop me from continually trying just so long as you folks keep the great articles coming.

solidground| 3.16.12 @ 9:20AM

Half of American voters are entirely asleep. The other half are split between those too busy looking for working and trying to survive in the interim, and those too busy watching American Idol to notice what's going on around them. End of story.

surewewill| 3.16.12 @ 11:15AM

You got it right and Obama and Company are banking on "while America slept".

JJ| 3.16.12 @ 11:39AM

America has been a sleep since the 60's. It is starting to wake up. And the media is asleep.

Indy| 3.16.12 @ 1:54PM

The Media is complicit, rarely do they report the news, they drive their agenda.

Teaghan| 3.16.12 @ 1:18PM

Oh no, Solidground! They aren't asleep, they're watching American Idol and Bachelor and Bachelorette! And they can tell you everything about each contestant and t hey get excited when their idol wins! No, they aren't asleep, they just don't give hoot about us all going to hell in a handbasket. Daddy obama will take care of us.

Purp| 3.16.12 @ 1:35PM

That would be Mommy Party for Obama ... Daddy Romney will bankrupt us all and not take care of us.

I'll take my Momma over Daddy anyday.

rosecityken| 3.16.12 @ 2:05PM

what do you call running over a trillion dollars a year since he has been in office? BANKRUPTING AMERICA... 5 trillion in debt has been added and he hasnt been in there for 3 1/2 years yet annual household income is down 7% under obama ...along with gas being $1.83 average then and 3.85 now? what do you call that? BANKRUPTING AMERICA...im not a big romney fan but saying that a man that has made a career out of making business' run right is going to bankrupt the country while your president, with no economic experience is going to save us with programs like obamacare which WILL actually bankrupt us shows your ignorance of reality...by the way the cbo just said that obamacare will cost TWICE as much as we were PROMISED! Another inconvenient truth? your chrmn maobama is lying to the american public saying that there is nothing HE can do to relieve gas prices ...bush did it with the stroke of the pen, look it up brainiac! ....wake up!

Purp| 3.16.12 @ 2:55PM

How do you think he made his money? He laid off thousands of workers and leveraged the companies to the hilt so he could extract the money and leave many of them with just bones and bankrupt. A few bright stars don't help the thousands of people that need to find jobs and suffer from his wealth accumulation. The unconcern for the people being bankrupted, let alone the companies are history. And, that wants to be President?
Oh, and since you weren't there for the Great Depression, how long do you think it takes to recover from near oblivion in housing, financial and employment?
On healthcare - regardless of the doomsayers on Obamacares - left alone, healthcare costs will be far more than Obamacares will provide. Status quo is not acceptable.

conservativemom3| 3.16.12 @ 10:29PM

Well, when Reagan took over and we were in a recession, it took 10 months to recover. It's now been 51 months of recession and no recovery...do the math!

madnessofjack| 3.17.12 @ 7:36PM

A trolling we will go, A trolling we will go, high, ho, the merry go, a trolling we will go....
YOU are probably the worst paid troll I've ever seen.
BTW, when is your shift over.

One if by land...| 3.16.12 @ 3:53PM

You need to be taken care of? So I guess you do live with mommy and sadly daddy wasn't around to teach you how to be an independent, self sufficient MAN!

Purp| 3.16.12 @ 8:26PM

Maybe you need to suck on momma's tit, i do not. But, if I needed anything, momma would be there, daddy not so much. exactly how you on the right are, do it yourself, sink or swim, if you ain't go not job "Blame Yo'self" ... nice, Dad.

Calvin| 3.18.12 @ 10:18AM

I am inclined to think that Purp had an unusual relationship with both his mom and his dad. I hate to think what has just revealed about himself.

Dick in Ca.| 3.18.12 @ 2:03PM

You leave RCV and Anna K from Emory U out of this.

Lil' Biggs| 3.16.12 @ 7:22PM

The only thing that made sense there was you admitting Obama being a "Mother".

Purp| 3.16.12 @ 8:24PM

Yep, there's that nice streak on the right ... fool.

madnessofjack| 3.17.12 @ 7:39PM

didnt you tell "one if by land" that "maybe you need to suck your mommy's tit"?
You excel at at least one thing....HYPOCRISY

conservativemom3| 3.16.12 @ 10:25PM

Daddy Romney won't be able to bankrupt us...Mommy Obama has already done that.

We're already bankrupt!

My wife watches dancing with the stars and many various homicide shows.

I had to drag her to the poll last week. Talk about a friking freakshow. Made her fill out a ballot, with an Leo observing us.

She crumpled up the completed ballot and threw it at me.

It was not a proud moment for the republic.

mmercier| 3.17.12 @ 9:18AM

I should mention that The officer is an old friend, and almost split a gut laughing.

He said I could press charges, if -I wanted to get divorced -

The apolitical are amusing.

Sargint Rock| 3.17.12 @ 3:33PM

Dave | 3.16.12 @ 12:01PM

While I, too, agree with Jeffery's summation that MSNBC and their brethren in the leftist media are the TRUE whores in this current case of duck and cover-up, the hope that (a) he might receive a response or (b) obtain an honest and thoughtful answer is ... *fruitless (*can we say fruitless in the same story that lists f-got?) Barney might know. I'll send him an e-mail for clarification.

Meanwhile ...

No, Mr. Lord, I see no big, conservative posse riding over the ridge, and none of the town's people stepping out into the street; yelling - "GET A ROPE!"

No, sir, I'm afraid this tape is just ANOTHER one the dogs at NBC will bury in their backyard.

As I mentioned in an earlier post: "If Barack Obama and his cadre of unconstitutionalist crooks were a group of joggers out for a morning run, and came to a quick, sudden STOP ... the noses of Brian Williams, Diane Sawyer and the entire production staffs at ABC, CBS and CNN would wind-up six inches up Barry's a-s."

Like all good leftists, they enjoy the view.

Purp| 3.16.12 @ 1:42PM

All you are seeing is the backlash created by the extremism on the right. From "Crossfire" to now it has just gotten worse and worse. On your side, Limbaugh keeps it going while banking millions and has no reason to stop. Same on ours until people stop paying attention to them.

Actually, I rarely I watch NBC's nightly propaganda fest, but the few times I've accidentally landed on the local channel, three descriptive words come to mind when I see the lying face of Brian Williams and/or hear one of their insipid reporters spewing the daily DNC talking points:

Scum, Sucking and Puke! And not necessarily in that order. Your order may vary!

Lil' Biggs| 3.16.12 @ 7:26PM

I was wondering when you would begin the "Neener-neener" argument of the liberal talking points handbook...

Sargint Rock| 3.17.12 @ 3:35PM

Lol. You nailed it!

Lil' Biggs| 3.16.12 @ 7:14PM

Soldier on my friend...

gokart-mozart| 3.16.12 @ 7:18AM

You are quite wrong to accuse these media luminaries of a double standard.

They have one standard, and it is this: If it's good for the Revolution, it's fine. If it's bad for the Revolution, it's awful. If you support the Revolution, you're great. If you oppose the Revolution, you should be destroyed.

That's a single, clear, consistent standard and all the people mentioned in your article should be commended for their fidelity to it.

albert constantine jr.| 3.16.12 @ 8:42AM

Would it be safe to say that they are "Blinded by the Light, wrapped up like a deuce..."?

Lil' Biggs| 3.16.12 @ 7:29PM

Is that "Deuce" as in "I gotta drop a deuce"?

albert constantine jr.| 3.16.12 @ 10:14PM

I'm not quite sure what Springsteen had in mind when he wrote it, though when Manfred Mann covered it the word sounded like "douche" on my 3 inch AM radio speaker circa 1976.

Jack London| 3.16.12 @ 7:22AM

So let's get this right. A 20 year old video of Al Sharpton means a call for advertisers to pull out of a whole network, and is the same standard as advertisers pulling their ads on one show for a very recent incident? How far back should we go here?

This is desperation, even by lowly Am Spec standards.

Carol| 3.16.12 @ 7:28AM

Ah shut up!

WE ARE FIGHTING FOR OUR FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHTS HERE AND YOU ARE GIVING THE DISGUSTING MAGGOT RACE BAITING POS AL SHARPTON A PASS?

Give it up. You are either on their side or on our side.

There is no longer an in between.

gearjammer| 3.16.12 @ 8:12AM

THUNDEROUS APPLAUSE 1

albert constantine jr.| 3.16.12 @ 8:40AM

Mr. London has repeatedly shown that he is a leftist provocateur. He is the other side. If this was the battle of Guadalcanal, he is the Japanese soldier crawling in front of Marine lines shouting "Loosevelt is a SOB", hoping to draw fire so his side can map out and positions and concentrate fire in its attack.

To further that analogy, Mr. Lord's article is an equivalent of an airstrike on a fuel depot of the other side.

Meanwhile, we toss our grenades at the noise generated by Mr. London and his ilk, and wait for the banzai charge.

Sargint Rock| 3.17.12 @ 3:38PM

Oh Yeah! "Praise the LORD and pass the ammunition!"

jothepro| 3.16.12 @ 8:55AM

Now that was pithy Carol. We take no prisoners...

Purp| 3.16.12 @ 1:44PM

You Betcha, Mr. Bush - how'd that work out for ya? Maybe you should try some Hopey Changey stuff - it might help you too.

Lil' Biggs| 3.16.12 @ 7:31PM

Exactly, No more "Moderates" as that means compromise.

Big Tony| 3.16.12 @ 8:12AM

Jack

My second grade child has better reading comprehension skills than you do. Nowhere in this article does Mr. Lord advocate for any advertiser to pull their ads. This piece is plainly about the double standards that apparently you are in favor of.

Jack London| 3.16.12 @ 8:28AM

Big Tony,

what do you think he meant when he asked Quicken Loans this:

'In view of these inflammatory remarks by an MSNBC host, which many see as both virulently homophobic and racist, the obvious question is: will Quicken be pulling its ads from MSNBC and NBC?'

Anyway, why don't you just not watch NBC and watch Fox and listen to Limbaugh instead. Also, I suggest you don't use Quicken Loans. I'm sure you're not in favor of censorship or forcing advertisers to advertise where you and not they want.

Jack London's inner thoughts| 3.16.12 @ 9:01AM

Gosh I am a hypocrite. Some of the people I hang around are losers. Most of the people I hang with are losers. What do they call people that hang around with losers. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. I am a loser. Sarah Palin. Sarah Palin. Sarah Palin. The Koch Brothers. The Kock Brothers. Rush Limbaugh. Rush Limbaugh. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. I'm melting.

Nick| 3.16.12 @ 10:15AM

Jack Moscow,

As Big Tony previously stated, any 2nd grader could comprehend that Mr. Lord was asking Quicken Loans if they will be consistent in their advertising policy, or is their moral outrage selective.

Are you really this obtuse?

Jack London| 3.16.12 @ 10:40AM

I'm sorry Nick but surely being 'consistent' would mean pulling their ads, which is exactly what he said and I said he said, with 'A 20 year old video of Al Sharpton means a call for advertisers to pull out of a whole network.'

By the way, as Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr, said: "The mind of a bigot is like the pupil of the eye; the more light you pour upon it, the more it will contract."

Very apt for you, no?

Crassus| 3.16.12 @ 10:44AM

RACE CARD!!!!!!!

Jack London| 3.16.12 @ 11:42AM

I know better than all of you dopes because I went to Harvard and learned what White People are all about from Professor Bell. So I reserve my right to insult you whenever I feel like it.

madnessofjack| 3.17.12 @ 7:49PM

Really? Critical Race Theory gives you the right to insult people.
Hmmm.....and here I thought it was the 1st amendment.

Nick| 3.16.12 @ 11:19AM

Jack London,

"I'm sorry Nick but surely being 'consistent' would mean pulling their ads, which is exactly what he said and I said he said [...]."

Umm, nooooooo, it's exactly the opposite, brainiac. Mr. Lord is saying that Quicken Loans should never have pulled its advertising from Rush's show in the first place. All because of the phony outcry from a minuscule amount of liberal pinheads, such as yourself.

Mr. Lord is pointing out the double-standard, lies in their statement, and cowardice of Quicken Loans. Is this so hard to understand?

I'm no bigot, by the way. I'm a Roman Catholic, and, therefore, love all people. I could care less what color a person is or what creed they believe. I'm tolerant of most things, except for evil. I will always speak out against evil.

I told you in another thread that you need to look up the word bigot. I do not think it means what you think it does.

Jack London| 3.16.12 @ 11:49AM

Sorry Nick I'm dreaming that he wrote: 'will Quicken be pulling its ads from MSNBC and NBC'? What he actually wrote was 'will Quicken be putting its ads back on the Rush Limbaugh show'. I apologize - no one here would want any advertiser to desert a show with Al Sharpton on, especially you, because you love everyone.

You've a strange way of showing you're not a bigot by dismissing out of hand any point made by an organisation of black people.

Nick| 3.16.12 @ 12:43PM

Jack Moscow,

Perhaps you missed where Mr. Lord's wrote this: "I am personally a strong believer in free speech. I believe audiences decide what and who they will listen to or watch."
It was on the second page, so I can understand how you missed it.

The whole point of his article, for those who have the discernment of a 2nd grader, was the repeated hypocrisy of the left, and those who kowtow to them. Quicken Loans has one set of standards for Rush, and another set for PMSNBC. Mr. Lord is only informing the public of their double-standard. You are either lying, or choose to remain willfully ignorant about it.

"You've a strange way of showing you're not a bigot by dismissing out of hand any point made by an organisation of black people."

No, I dismiss out of hand a corrupt organization that happens to be made up of black people, i.e., the NAALCP. I also dismiss out of hand The New York Slimes, Washington Post, and the Sierra Club. Corrupt organizations that happen to be made up of white people. See the difference? Again, look up the word.

I love you too, Jack. Even though you happen to be a liberal yutz.

Nick| 3.16.12 @ 12:55PM

p.s. I should have added that I listen, with great discernment, to whatever Niger Innis and his organization C.O.R.E., and Star Parker and her organization C.U.R.E., have to say. Guess what color Mr. Innis and Miss Parker happen to be?

Jack London| 3.16.12 @ 1:48PM

So when you say 'Lord is only informing the public of their double-standard' are you saying he is not trying to put pressure on the producers to drop Sharpton or the advertisers to pull out in all those emails he sent? Granted, he has no chance of success so you're right to that extent.

I understand you like black people who are in bed with libertarians and the far right - Innis senior is in the Libertarian party. But what exactly is corrupt about NAACP? And the report I linked to - are you seriously saying there is no evidence to support voter suppression strategy and tactics? Are you aware at all of the history of civil rights in this country?

And the Sierra Club - corrupt? Making extreme and ridiculous assertions like this makes you look, er, ridiculous.

Having a different political stance to you does not make someone corrupt.

Nick| 3.16.12 @ 2:38PM

"So when you say 'Lord is only informing the public of their double-standard' are you saying he is not trying to put pressure on the producers to drop Sharpton or the advertisers to pull out in all those emails he sent?"

By George, I think you've got it, Jack! Man, it took you long enough.

"I understand you like black people who are in bed with libertarians and the far right [...]."

This kind of undermines your whole "Nick is bigot" claim, doesn't it? Doesn't the fact that you don't like black conservatives also make you a bigot, then? That you would write "black people who are in bed with" shows your animus towards them, as if they had no business being right-wingers. How dare them!

The NAALCP is a corrupt organization because they lie. Most recently, in '10, they lied about the protesters of the O'BamaCare vote, falsely claiming that they shouted racial epithets at black House members and spit at them.

"[...] are you seriously saying there is no evidence to support voter suppression strategy and tactics?"

There may be proof that phony phone calls were made, but, there is no proof this resulted in a mass suppression of voter turn-out. There is overwhelming proof that massive voter-fraud, in the form of dead people voting, was involved in close elections. Therefore, probably changing the results.

The Sierra Club is corrupt because they promote the AGW Hoax and falsely use the ESA to halt construction projects.

Jack London| 3.16.12 @ 4:20PM

Your responses just increasingly reveal you as even more uniformed and bigoted.

To dismiss the nation’s major civil rights organization on one anecdote puts you in KKK territory; parroting the myth about ‘massive voter fraud’ is paranoid; and denying global warming puts you in the funny farm.

The worst thing about people like you is the utter contempt in which you hold ordinary people and their political voices, such that you won’t even look at them or their evidence. To think that there are still people like you nearly 60 years after Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on the bus is disheartening, to say the least.

Nick| 3.16.12 @ 5:19PM

Stay on topic and quit trying to change the subject, Jack. We're discussing Mr. Lord's article, remember? Not the voter-fraud argument that you lost yesterday.

Besides, I did not form my opinion about the NAALCP's corruption based on only one incident. Nice straw man. I stated quite clearly that this was one of the more recent examples of their corruption.

So, now we are back to Big Tony's original comment. Reading comprehension is not your forte, is it Jack?
Look how long it took you to understand what Mr. Lord was trying to say!
Yutz.

Jack London| 3.16.12 @ 6:16PM

Sorry Nazi Nick, but I don't buy your take that Lord has no motive to put pressure on MSNBC and the advertisers. There's little point to his email efforts otherwise and his promise to continue the campaign (‘There's more to tell. And we will now be telling this story twice a week right here in The American Spectator.’)
.

As I said, your 'massive voter fraud' is fantasy; your Limbaugh slur with the L in NAACP is far-right parroting (and I'll wager you've no real 'corruption' examples); and it's all on-topic as in all these cases including the Fluke affair your only recourse is abject and deliberate ignorance of the issues that can only come from deep-seated prejudice and bigotry.

Nick| 3.16.12 @ 7:07PM

No, Jack Moscow, you just don't want to confront the hypocrisy and double-standard of the left.

One more time. Quicken Loans said that it was Rush's "inflammatory comments" and "feedback" from "clients" that caused them to stop their advertising. If they were really concerned about inflammatory comments they wouldn't be advertising on PMSNBC.

Not only because of Sharpy-Sharp and Ed Putz, but because of most of the twits on that channel. Chris Matthspews has Maher on quite a bit.

So, Quicken Loans is either lying about their standards, or, they have a double standard. Get it now?

"[...] your Limbaugh slur with the L in NAACP [...]."

So, you admit that the word liberal is a slur, huh?
Well, that's some progress.

madnessofjack| 3.17.12 @ 7:55PM

If indeed you subscribe to CRT, you have no room to call ANYONE a nazi or a racist.
How does the marriage of marxism, racism and xenophobia make it at Harvard?

Nick| 3.16.12 @ 5:42PM

p.s. Did you happen to notice all of my posts calling out Bill the Bigot for his racist comments, Jack?
Another refutation of your bogus assertions.

Jack London| 3.16.12 @ 6:23PM

There's more than one way to be a racist – your prejudice against NAACP is clear from your refusal to take anything they investigate seriously. That's closet racism.

Nick| 3.16.12 @ 7:18PM

"There's more than one way to be a racist [...]."

Yes, there is. The best way to be a racist is to be a bleeding heart liberal, like yourself. You admitted your bigotry because you don't like black conservatives. You liberals don't like it when black people wander off the democrat party plantation, do you?

Thanks for the pseudo-psychoanalysis, Dr. Phil. I believe the technical term that applies to you is projection.

My prejudice against the NAALCP comes from their many years of lies and corruption, support of reverse racism, and being a shill for the democrat party, by the way.

Jack London| 3.16.12 @ 8:11PM

No, it was you who brought up CORE, presumably to establish your 'credentials' with black people, and now you are making yourself look yet more ridiculous accusing me of racism, as the truth is I support continuing action for civil rights and you don't.

As for the Lord thing, you're tying yourself in knots. The issue is simply that despite the 20 year old videos, advertisers would rather associate themselves with the decent broadcasting on MSNBC rather than the hate talk on Limbaugh et al.

And that's me gone now. But please - just for me - put that prejudice aside for half an hour and read that NAACP report and tell me what you think.

Nick| 3.16.12 @ 11:30PM

You can claim that you support civil rights all you want, Jack Moscow. So what?

So did Robert KKK Byrd. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpy-Sharp both claim not to be anti-Semites. But we all know better, don't we?

Your mere assertions have no bearing on your bigotry. You did say that black people who are conservative and libertarian are whores, remember?

And, yeah, I'll get right on that report. As soon as I see your reading comprehension improve from the 2nd grade to at least the 5th grade, okay?

Finzi Holst| 3.17.12 @ 12:53AM

Nick-

You are a very patient man. It is amazing how you allow Jack Moscow to keep trying to serve facing away from the net.

His ignorance of the racist history of the Democratic Party is staggering, especially as he mentions Civil Rights.

Bob Grant| 3.17.12 @ 10:54AM

"...decent broadcasting on MSNBC..."

Decent broadcasting on MSNBC?

What, pray tell, would be considered "decent" on a channel which it's schedule is filled primarily by the musings of "Reverend" Al, Schultz, Maddow, O'donnell, and the like.

I suppose "decent" programming, MSNBC style, would be the prison documentary series Lockup?

Speaking of Lockup, do you think MSNBC will produce an episode titled?:

Lockup - Rod Blagojevich

Bob Grant| 3.17.12 @ 10:29AM

Mr. London,

Can you suggest a good book to me regarding rules on racism because they tend to be convoluted and, er, arbitrary?

Isn't it true that one must possess mind reading skills to truly detect racism? Your comment above about not taking the NAACP seriously is case in point.

I don't and PER ME!!!, I'm not a racist.

Please, educate this poor soul.

Sargint Rock| 3.17.12 @ 3:52PM

Blah, Blah, Blather. Your so busy playing your subjective head games, you wouldn't discern the truth if it rose up and bit you on the @ss! When the NAACP(whom I used to respect) go before the United Nations to whine about America, using progressive, leftwing, Dem talking points, it is high Treason and should be a wake up call to the sheeple.

HUH? Wasn't it Dan Rather who tried to screw the younger Bush with forged documents from Bush's days in the National Air Guard????

So Jack, you tell me, how far back should we go? Rush apologized. Has Al Sharpton? I don't believe so. Has foul-mouthed Bill Maher apologized? no. How about that jerk of a comedian - CK who? No. How long will you harp on Rush's comment? I'm sure 10 years from now it will still be brought up by you liberals who never let anything die, unless it is something you do. Is what Rush said equivalent to Al's "punk faggot" comment or Maher's "c***" calling?

A world without TV ? Wow !!!!!!!!!! or at least A Day Without TV. WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!. You know dear friends I know this is very hard but if you just kept your TV blank for one whole day--I mean everybody at once the loss of revenue for the nyet works would be worth it. Our power lies in our choice of things to buy, see, hear, read etc.

Sorry --to those who do not like boycotts--I do especially in the case of the media. Time to think about it seriously.

Pat| 3.16.12 @ 4:40PM

martin j. smith, makes sense but there are other ways as well. Recently, a trendy notion among businesses is fishing for compliments and criticisms among the thousands of internet media outlets. Firms like Meltwater News will search the internet for comments about businesses and report their search results back to their clients. Mention a business by name and your comment could be searched out and included within each day’s catch of “shout outs”. So, leaving the abstract ideological complaints behind and zeroing in on specific businesses, naming specific corporations, will be noticed. Sharpton and Maher have corporate sponsors and you have the freedom to criticize their financial support of these irresponsible media stars and their destructive propaganda.

Your complaints and comments are far more likely to reach corporate board rooms wHere folks are actually interested in your adverse opinion of their company. And these corporations are paying search firms good money to hear your thoughts, unlike writing to your elected employee whose admin. assistant will fire back a standard form letter which may or may not address the actual complaint you wrote about.

As an individual, your arguments may not carry much weight with a sponsoring corporation but the number of folks who are reading your words does create an impact – and a potential concern. There’s power in numbers and American businesses have become quite sensitive to the public’s opinion when today’s internet can reach many more consumers than a letter to your local newspaper editor.

Dick Nome| 3.16.12 @ 8:24AM

Both Je$$e Ja¢k$on and $harpton are nothing but a couple of racehustling profane bigots. $harpton is a foul mouthed racist and Ja¢k$on of Hymietown fame both make it rich peddling bias , racial division and hatred. 'The Justice Bros" as parodied on Rush.

Betina| 3.16.12 @ 8:28AM

BREITBART THE BASTARDS!

nathan| 3.16.12 @ 8:29AM

Is this really a "First Amendment" issue? Read the Amendment carefully. "Congress shall pass no laws . . ." The restriction that Madison wrote is on the federal government not private employers. We have a tendency to forget this do we not? We as individuals do not enjoy "free speech" rights regarding our employers. They may establish whatever standards of conduct they choose and if we violate those standards they are free to fire us without violating the First Amendment. In the case of Juan Williams for example, the First Amendment was not violated because NPR is not the federal government.

Similarly if advertisers on Rush's program believe he has crossed boundaries that they have established, they have a right to spend their THEIR money, seeing as how it is THEIR money in any manner they see fit. They have no obligation to advertise on his show and may terminate the connection with him or any other radio show for any reason. They have rights too. Private individuals have every RIGHT to be as seeming arbitrary and capricious as they wish. Their money, their rules. For those of you who have kids for example, and I'm going through this experience myself with kids ranging from late adolescence to mid to late 20's, they don't really have "free speech" rights with me thank you when I'm paying for their school expenses and sending them to college. I think you other parents tell your kids the same thing.

But we also miss something else here I think. Sean on his show bombards us with examples far worse than what Rush did. The examples above show that Sharpton and others do worse things and get away with it. But that's not the point. Rush didn't violate their standards, given that they either don't have any or that the standards on the left are so low as to be virtually non existent. He violated OUR stardards. The standards on the right, we being the good guys in the discussion are always going to be so much higher, we set the bar so much higher. Understand something. We don't measure ourselves, or at least I hope we don't, we don't measure ourselves by the Al Sharptons, the Bill Mahers, and all the others on the left because we are just so much better than they are. Our standards are beyond what they can comprehend. And on THAT basis, Rush properly deserved the opprobium heaped him. Because he wasn't really so much offending them was he? He was offending US.

And we need to remember that. All of us. We do get held to a different, higher standard because we are the good guys. And really, on a certain level, I suspect they know it which is why they come after us the way they do.

So again I urge you to remember in YOUR discourse be careful. Don't sink to their level. In our other actions, remember who we are, what WE stand for. We stand for what's good and what's right in this country. We can't really compromise on those beliefs, those principles. No "good intentions" justifies straying from the values the Founders conveyed to us. I constantly urge all of you to remember that. Washington, Jefferson, Madison, Adams, Mason, Henry, Franklin, and the rest, they, personal flaws and all were a uniquely gifted group of individuals who came together in one time. We owe it to them, ourselves, and our children and grandchildren to keep faith with both them and those who come after them not to compromise on the principles they established. I don't know about the rest of you but I stand in absolute awe at what they did. When you visit their homes when you visit St. John's church in Richmond the site of Henry's famous speech, it's hard not be overwhelmed sometimes.

The legacy they established, the legacy we're the rightful heirs to, well we can't throw that away. But that means we, in the name of good intentions, can't misbehave either. That we understand that those two documents they created apply to us too.

Nathan: That is a very good and lucid coment. I have been reading a lot of your stuff and find you to be a very thoughtful and articulate person. I turned off Limbaugh about 10 years ago because I did not like his act anymore. People who don't like something can protest to the sponser and write to the network. That is one of the hazzards of a free society. On the other hand Rush's friends can do the same, to people that they don't like. I think conservatives have been too timid in using this tool to even the score.

I am far more disgusted that Judge Napolitano and Pat Buchanan have been purged then if Rush Limbaugh has to isue another apology, like he did with Donovan McNabb. That is one of the things that come with the territory. I didn't see people here at the American Spectator gettng upset over the Napolitano and Buchanan case. Well what is the old saying about first they came for the Jews, then the Catholics etc.

smitty| 3.17.12 @ 12:44AM

The ultimate goal of Obama and his communist minions is to reduce world population to less than one billion people.
Sebelius, Jarrett and Moochelle want to get there via birth control and abortion (The murder of little, defenseless babies in the womb); John Holdren wants to poison the water; Cass Sunstein wants to get there via regulation; Samantha Powers wants to get there via military-intervention; Rosa Brooks wants to gut our military: Carol Browner wants to close down our energy industries; David Axelrod wants us to become a Communist country; A.G. Holder arms the Mexican Drug Cartels so that they can kill at random; DOE head Chu pushes for $9.00 gasoline so we all can starve; Timmy the Tax cheat sends the IRS after all naysayers; Arnie Duncan has lowered the government school system to the bottom rung; DHS head Napolitano makes sure that all terrorists can cross our borders; DOL head Solis wants all companies to be unionized so that all manufacturing will move overseas and all family farms to be shut down; Bill Ayers wants to blow up the government as we know it. These are Obama’s associates that he looks to for guidance!
Birth control medicine increases the potential of blood clots. Abortion doubles the chance of getting breast cancer later. So is this really about women’s health or is it a further attempt by these communists to whittle down the population?

Now tell us something that those of us who live in the Real World don't know. I think you've fallen into the Liberal trap of idealizing Negroes and then pretending that you're shocked when you see how they really act.

Frankly this is all a rigged game, and the rules are defined by the Left. The Left cares not one whit about consistency; they always give their own people a pass; they always ignore truths that are inconvenient to their own narrative, yet distort and caricature conservative "sins" out of context.

Resist We Much! | 3.16.12 @ 11:44AM

"As we said when we hired Rev. Sharpton, we didn't hire the Al Sharpton of 1989, we hired the Al Sharpton of 2011. As he has said as recently as on last Sunday's "Meet the Press," he has changed over the years and no longer uses the heated rhetoric of two decades ago. We have been clear and consistent in our actions, we hold our hosts accountable for what they say on our air."

Has Sharpton ever apologised for his "old" rhetoric?

Has Sharpton ever apologised for Tawana Brawley?

Has Sharpton ever apologised for Freddie's Fashion Mart?

Has Sharpton ever apologised for Crown Heights and the murder of Yankel Rosenbaum?

If he has never apologised, then it is irrelevant if he has "toned down" his rhetoric.

Bill| 3.16.12 @ 12:07PM

Freddie's Fashion Mart was in 1995, not in the 1980s.

Amadou Diallo was in 1999.

Sharpton was using racially incendiary rhetoric long past the 1980s. His two decades of courting race warfare seems more likely to have continued than to have moderated, since his career has been dramatically enhanced by engaging in racially charged rhetoric for more than twenty years.

Bill| 3.16.12 @ 12:09PM

And by the way, it's not "our air," it's the public airwaves that they have a license to use.

Resist We Much! | 3.16.12 @ 12:49PM

Technically, Sharpton is on cable and the government does not own those "airwaves."

Bill| 3.16.12 @ 12:55PM

Technically, the propety owners who own the property below which the airwaves pass own the "airwaves." The government has an easement that they justify in the name of the public interest. The government's easement extends to licensing broadcasters to broadcast, using those airwaves. So it seems as if the government owns those airwaves in any practical sense, since they have assumed sufficient power over them that they can use them to sell licenses.

Bill| 3.16.12 @ 12:57PM

Cable stations don't have any greater claim to the airwaves than public stations. The airwaves belong to the public, and the government controls them in the name of the people.

Bill| 3.16.12 @ 12:59PM

Not "below which," but "above which." Please excuse the error.

Bill| 3.16.12 @ 1:19PM

martin j smith| 3.16.12 @ 12:08PM

The game of calling the MSM biased has run its course for me. Oh yes one can kvetch all day and every day but it appears the only real thing to look at is this simple question that V.I> Lenin once wrote of: : What is to be Done "? In the case of the media
there are various avenues but writing letters is not worth the bother. No I believe more serious action needs consideration. And where best to legally hurt these people-these Hollywood Elite ? Their pocket books. Why should be pay for their goodies and lovely lifetsyle ? Why should we sit helplessly as they look down, insult, smear or whatever. Is it not time to say--actions now ? Oh there are some who love to play martyr but I am not of that ilk. So consider this question: How can I hurt the MSM especially TV--Especially TV because that is where the most effective propaganda comes from--the visual image is extremely powerful. Remember the " media is the message "? So I say consider seriously doing without TV--boycott is the thing to do now--I no longer care about those who argue against this because they do not offer any viable alternative ACTION that hurts the media. Time to move forward and move on.

Bill| 3.16.12 @ 12:13PM

In "What Is to Be Done?" Lenin answered that question by concluding "violent revolution."

Is that what you want?

My most violent thought is to go to D.C. and get the President and Congress out into the public square where they would be tarred and feathered and ridden out of town on rails, and told not to return until they were ready to do the will of the people.

Pat| 3.16.12 @ 2:48PM

Martin J. Smith, wise words and a clear understanding of what needs to be done. Every couple of years, our government permits us to voice an opinion which will terminate some of our elected employees. How’s that working out for us – not all that well in recent years. But several times a day we can vote our conscience with this nation’s businesses by boycotting their products. And good old reliable American greed has learned to listen with both ears wide open. A whisper uttered by this nation’s consumers is heard more clearly in Wall St. board rooms than deafening shouts from our mainstream media.

Our Conservative pundits aren’t much help in this arena but folks like you are politely urging them to catch on. Why visit the Washington Post or New York Times website – to learn what they’re saying about us? To learn and then take our self-righteous anger out for a walk? Better to ignore them by staying away; they’ll hate us for it but their advertisers will hear the message very clearly. And developing a personal list of retailers and businesses to boycott is a step in the right direction as well.

No profit, no product is well-established business logic but not well understood among those writers championing the Conservative viewpoint. Yeah, there is a certain indescribable satisfaction in yelling back at our mainstream media tormenters. But demanding that Comcast divest MSNBC is more in your individual best interests, although admittedly less satisfying emotionally. When you sign up for that added feature but more expensive Comcast monthly cable package you’re putting money in Al Sharpton’s pocket, he thanks you for subsidizing his rants, Comcast thanks you for increasing your monthly cable bill. If they can bank your money, your bitterness won’t keep them awake at night. Creating dissatisfied customers doesn’t increase any executive’s annual management bonus and our First Amendment doesn’t guarantee media corporations will earn a yearly profit.

shipley130| 3.16.12 @ 12:44PM

The anti-intellectual miscreants of the left have no answer to your queries because their "open" minds are empty. Their ad-hominem vitriolic speech is a fair indicator of their bankrupt ideology. God bless you!

Tim| 3.16.12 @ 1:43PM

Maybe we should all be checking Comcast's competitors for TV, internet and phone services...remember, money talks and BS walks...just saying

Thank you for nailing the base hypocrisy of our media

Attile The hun| 3.16.12 @ 2:25PM

The only way to put the left out of business is to destroy left's monopoly over telecommunication infrastructure. Comcast shouldn't be allowed to bundle TV channels. Customer should be able to buy only the channels they want.

LiveFreeOrDie| 3.16.12 @ 9:54PM

The problem is every local cable company is a necessary monopoly due to the the physical limitations of multiple competitors. They own the "lines" and can do it however they like, since this is supposed to be a free country. Illegally forcing them to market their wares differently probably doesn't help since they set the price. The way we ended up in the mess is because politicians sold us out. Exclusivity is worth more than what the public gets in return.

I think there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Technology will provide an opportunity to solve this issue in the very near future as more broadband options become available. The number of content providers could be essentially limitless. Imagine a thousand versions of netflix competing for your money.

Once again I would ask any conservative who uses Comcast as a service provider to cancel that service and find another provider. There are plenty out there we do not have to help these people destroy our country by using thier services. We must put our money with companies that share our values. Cancel Comcast with the words that since you do not believe in free speech for all I am no longer able to use your service.

Oldefarte| 3.16.12 @ 5:07PM

Excellent as usual Jeffrey! Andrew Braitbart lives in you thankfully, and we all should follow your lead by respectfully protesting the liberals/progressives daily 24-7 propaganda brainwashings. Stop paying outrageous prices to view Hollywood's radical agenda contained within their mis-labeled movies. Turn off your TV's or avoid watching their subliminal messaging within their sitcoms, crime dramas etc [and protect your vernerable children etc from same]. Cause their box office revenue receipts to plummet and disappear or their Tv ratings to tank from non-viewership. Send a message to Hollywood that if they don't refrain from producing their propagandized crap, that you the public will send them to economic/financial hades. Be a protester. Be a Braitbart. Don't take it any more and as Andrew indicated, fight fire with fire on their own turf!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dimitry Aleksandrovich| 3.16.12 @ 5:47PM

Sharpton is a low life racial racketeer who makes Jesse Jackson look like Martin Luther King by comparison. MSNBC is a disgrace. They fired the only good thing they had going for them Patrick J. Buchanan over his supposedly "controversial" views but you watch they're going to keep Sharpton out of fears of a discrimination lawsuit.

kathy bedard| 3.16.12 @ 5:48PM

Way to go Jeffrey. I have been emailing Rush's sponsors and also Ed Schultz's sponsors. I've left messages about the Sharpton tapes on MSNBC and NBC's facebook pages. Is there more I can do? I feel it's time to fight back. Tell us what more needs to be done.

Jim Hlavac | 3.16.12 @ 6:25PM

Well, Mr. Lord, I do believe this is the first time I have ever seen the American Spectator call out the Left for their anti-gay stances. (I could be wrong.) What many of us conservative gay folks have said for years is this: the Left is simply pandering to gays to get votes; but they don't give a damn about us. Indeed, African-Americans, who vote reliably 95% Democratic, are among some of the most virulently anti-gay people this nation has (see Democratic NY State Senator Ruben Diaz who has held repeated "gays are worthy of death" rallies. Who knows what the "Rev." Jeremy Wright of Obama fame has said about us.)

You know, too, perhaps you should look into the vast number of gay entrepreneurs who would willingly join the conservative ranks over taxes and growing government and mandates, etc. Still, this is a most refreshing article, which I shall now go share with my friends who think there's this "Democrats love gays - Republicans hate gays" divide. I have contended for decades this is not true. Indeed, both parties are, using the word of Obama "Evolving" on us. So congratulations.

You do realize that they are starting to come out in the open about what they really want to do? It isn't going to be long until people like Sharpton, Madcow, and talking-about-privates Shultz start openly calling for violence against Conservatives. If think I'm kidding .... Bruce Springsteen is already cutting tunes calling for listeners to kill bankers ....

And then someone noticed he had the perfect pretty face for TV and asked him he could read. The rest is history. Well, somewhere in that meteoric rise to fame, he also served as a busboy to Jimmeh Cahtuh.

Because you are on TV doesn't mean you know anything.

Gary Nelson| 3.17.12 @ 3:12AM

Al may have been a little tasteless. Rush was and is downright crude. Rush is constantly insulting America by putting down anyone who is not "conservative". The majority of Americans are fairly conservative. However, what Rush calls conservative is not real conservativism. It is some perverted version of government, or lack of government based on a totally unrealistic view of the world. Not to mention total "freedon" except when it comes to personal freedom. They want to monitor our personal lives and cut taxes for the rich. The amazing thing is they get the folks who need them the least to support them the most. They are in the process of destroying the middle class American way of life and the middle class is feeling good about it. Maybe not the middle class, but the lower middle class. Meanwhile the rich pay less and less in taxes and the poor get poorer, and stupider.

beebop2| 3.17.12 @ 7:52AM

You have displayed no critical thinking skills of your own and if you have listened to Rush Limbaugh more than once, I would be surprised.

As a republican woman close to social security, I adore Rush because he says what I wish Romney would. He has a truly impressive vocabulary and his command of the English language (versus "resist we much" as but one example of whatever tongue it is that Sharpton is speaking -- my guess would be forked) puts him in a unique class. Rosie O'Donnell? Cancelled. Even leftiest like yourself couldn't stomach her "program."

Mike Hawk| 3.17.12 @ 9:29AM

He doesn't listen to Rush. He just regurtitates what others tell him and don't listen either.

Oldefarte| 3.17.12 @ 11:23AM

[1]Al is not a little tasteless, but instead is STUPID [2] What Rush speaks of is not so much conservatism, but instead COMMON SENSE [3] The rich pay less in taxes because they have the brains to earn money and to pay CPA's to SAVE THEM MONEY BY REDUCING THEIR TAX BURDEN [and therefore not provide WELFARE money to the gov'ment] [4] 'stupider' is not a word, and the proper English usage would have been MORE STUPID!!!!!!!!

martin j smith| 3.17.12 @ 7:56AM

Gary Nelson take your pill. When the Socialists/Communists behave in a way that even vaguely seems civil towards their opponents then we can talk until the--Who cares what you have to say.
And the funny things that it is those dastardly rich that bankrolling you Communists--we know what is going on here. Those Communists one percenters talk a good game but we see right thru them. Swiss cheese. The day that Obama uses a horse and buggy and emulates the diat of bugs bunny let me know--then we can talk till then-Go to Hell.

Reasonable Doubt| 3.17.12 @ 8:00AM

Limbaugh's comments were vile and uncalled for. Regardless if how much weight one gives to the sincerety of his apology - he did in fact apologize for these remarks. As Sharpton has never apologized for anything ...including the racist lies he countenanced that ruined a young presecutor's life in the Tawana Brawley scam. Sharpton gets a pass because the left enjoys his particular brand of obscenity. If it were not for its double standard - the left would have no standards at all. Because the left aspires to advance its agenda "by any means possible" - we should not be surprised that it venerates shameless hypocrites. That amoral meme' precludes having any standards.

martin j smith| 3.17.12 @ 8:17AM

Reaseonable Doubt: I can think of many in the media--many more than Limbaugh whose vile comments spit foprth from the disgusting and forked tongue mouths daily. As for Rush on Flake --she is a slut and that is not an in appropriate word for her. Obama is a Communist and that is not an inappropriate word for him. Once you are a Public Figure ( as Flake is ) you take what you get otherwise too damn bad. Sorry reasobale Doubt but have had it up to "here" with talk of Civility" That is OVER buddy. And even with that said there is absolutely no comparison with the LEFT smears which occur daily and more to the point actually their attempts at shutting any one who disagrees. There again Reasonable Doubt I have Reasonable Doubt about your reason.

k. bourg| 3.17.12 @ 10:45AM

I have an idea which will avoid the coming civil war in this country. Let's have a little contest. We divide the country right down the middle. All liberals can move to the left half where they can pass all the plans they've been advocating for the last 100 years. Everyone else can move to the right half where the government will be strictly limited by the constitution as was intended. Anyone who even suggests more power be given to the Right Half government will be sent immediately to the left half. I know that many people will object to being displaced from the left half to the right, but it will only be temporary as the Left Half will crumble inside of a year without the preserving influence of the real Americans who have wisely moved to the Right Half. The only real flaw in my plan is that the Left Half would probably cede all authority to the U.N. rather quickly, in which case we would need to resort to military action. Nevermind, bad idea.

M. Joseph| 3.30.12 @ 12:42PM

totally agree, grrrrrrrrrreaat idea. let's get it started.

k. bourg| 3.17.12 @ 11:18AM

I've solved the problem. Instead of relocating many people, we can set up a second federal government which will be limited by the constitution. Existing states could then decide if they would like to be united under the new federal government or if they would like to keep their throats under the existing government which would be unfettered by any pretence of constitutional restrictions. In fact they would be free to make up a new constitution which would likely include rights to equal outcomes in all facets of living. Individuals would of course be free to move to states of their choice. I estimate it would take about a year and a half for 95% of the people to return to their senses and realize the advantages of limited government and the disadvantages of totalitarian government which would spring up in the non constitutional states. There will always be a remnant of true believers, they have shown a tremendous capacity to stick to their beliefs in the face of insurmountable evidence of the shortcomings of their miserable ideas stemming from their complete lack of understanding of human nature and their stubborn unwillingnes to aknowledge their creator. For them we can cordon off sections of North Dakota, far eastern Washington, and of course San Francisco.

unfortunately I have comcast cable, if there were other choice of cable TV I would immediatly cancel Comcast, shame on yu for allowing this racist Al Sharpton, where is he when a 13 yr old boy was set afire by a group of blacks on March 21 2012, that's the reason I watch Fox News.

floridahank| 5.24.12 @ 12:44PM

Does anybody seriously watch any of the tv media or read the major newspapers for "unbiased news?"
I don't. I'll watch parts of it when they're covering an unusual event in our country, but never watch any "news" broadcasts. I'll do my DD on the 'net and look at pro and con sites and make my own decision after hearing both sides of an issue.
But never any tv or newspaper for real "news."
Sometimes PBS has good special programs, but their news isn't worth much. Tell after you watch the tv news, what difference did it make in your daily life?
