When on Monday Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met
President Obama, the President refused his request that the
administration sell Israel advanced military technologies needed to
set back Iran’s nuclear build-up.
It could be that Netanyahu knew Obama would say no. And
it’s perhaps why when they met, he gave the President the megillah
(scroll) of the Book of Esther, which Jews read during Purim (which
ended yesterday). Megillah Esther recounts how the Jews of Persia
turned a king’s edict of their annihilation into victory, one that
set the stage for the Jewish return to the land of Israel. Esther,
a Jewish orphan, became Queen to King Ahasueraus. Her uncle
Mordechai, a leader of the Persian Jews, urged the Queen to tell
Ahasueraus the people he had unwittingly authorized his viceroy
Haman to eliminate happened to be Jews and that she was one too.
When she revealed the plot and its purpose, the King issued a new
edict allowing Jews to defend themselves.
Purim conveys three lessons. First, the survival of the
Jewish people is assured — not by the words or edicts of foreign
rulers — but when they have the ability to defend themselves. As
Netanyahu said, “As prime minister of Israel, I will
never let my people live in the shadow of annihilation.”
Second, Purim suggests that the Jewish people — and
religious liberty — will always be threatened by regimes that
regard self-governance and civil society as the enemy. Alluding to
the Passover Haggadah, Netanyahu stated: “In every generation there
are those who wish to destroy the Jewish people.”
For these reasons, Israel’s margin of security is smaller
than of all other nations. Despite the President’s rhetoric about
being Israel’s stalwart ally, his administration has made that
margin microscopic.
Obama crows about giving Israel more military aid than
ever. In fact, the money is part of a 10-year deal established by
President Bush in 2007. Instead, he has cut spending for Israel
missile defense systems over the past three years.
Obama has repeatedly blocked delivery of weapons and
equipment to Israel. In 2010 he halted delivery of
bunker-busters bombs capable of destroying underground facilities,
including Iranian nuclear weapons sites that were agreed to in
2008. Obama has also refused to approve the sale of AH-64D Apache
attack helicopters, refueling systems, advanced munitions and data
on a stealth variant of the F-15E. When Netanyahu asked Obama for
refueling planes and the latest and most lethal bunker busters, the
President reportedly offered them in exchange for a pledge that
Israel not to attack Iran. At least until after the
presidential election.
The Bush administration also denied Israel weaponry that
could be used as a strike against Iran in 2008. However, months
later, it went ahead with the sale. Not so this administration,
which has consistently cut and denied Israel a first strike
advantage.
Indeed, the third and most important lesson of Purim is
that ability to take pre-emptive military action is essential to
Jewish survival. As Netanyahu said: “The purpose of the Jewish
state is to secure the Jewish future. That is why Israel must
always have the ability to defend itself, by itself, against any
threat…”
Let’s hope the President reads Megillah Esther and learns
Purim’s lessons. His failure to support Israel and, worse, his
willingness to use its survival as a bargaining chip for his
re-election suggest Israel will have to repeat history to
survive.

If Obama can in fact understand anything he might read, he'd probably focus on the first chapter in which the sexist king demanded his Queen appear at a drunken party dressed in nothing but her crown, and when she refused, was deposed because his guys told him, "If you let her get away with that, from now on no woman will obey her husband!" In other words, Obama will decree that the Book of Esther is an indictment of Republicans.

In the book of Leviticus God tells Jews. " To love your neighbor as yourselves." Farther along in the book it tells Jews. " To treat the aliens among you as you do yourselves. " In the book of Exodus God tells Jews. " To treat the aliens among you well for you were once aliens and strangers in the land of Egypt. " It is time for Jews to learn how to live with their neighbors instead of threatening and killing them. Abraham was an Iraqi who settled among the Cannanites, Phillistines and went to visit Egypt. All these people treated him very well and he grew rich and had many children by several women. He was the father of the whole Middle East. Every tribe there are all his direct decendents. They are all intermixed. The closest blood relatives of the original decendents of Abraham, are of course, the Palistinians. The nasty Mongolian Jews who founded Israel were mostly atheists and communists with little had little to with what the Bible has to say.
Jack in Wi.| 3.9.12 @ 11:39AM
Abraham was an Iraqi who had several wives from the neighborhood. It says in my Bible that Abraham was the father of many nations and his decendents would be like sand on the beach or drops of water in the sea. That discription fits the Christians and Muslims who claim spiritual, and in some cases physical descent from Abraham. It does not fit the nasty remnent of Jews who have been defying God for 2000 years by rejecting His Messiah. Atheists and agnostics are by far the biggest Jewish sects. Why should God reward such people?

Read the Bible Abraham had several wives and children, by them, and slave girls and servants. All the tribes of the region came from his loins.
Abraham was an Iraqi who fathered the Jews and Arabs and everyone in between. His son Ismael fathered many nations. Joseph was an Egyptian. he married an Egyptian girl and was buried and mummified in the Egyptain religion. Most of the sons of Jacob married Cannanite women. Judah father of the tribe of the Jews was married to a Cannanite women. Moses was married to an Arab. David, Solomon, and Jesus were decended from a Cannanite prostitute Rehab. Samson liked Philistine girls. David and Solomon had huge harems from all over the neighborhood. Herod, the Great the rebuilder of the 2nd of the second great Temple was an Arab. There are many more examples, in the Bible. There are no more Jews or gentiles. The whole world has been re-united in Jesus Christ. The mission of the Jews was completed 2000 years ago with the coming of the Messiah of the World. Those who continue to deny him are on the wrong side of history.

An Iranian nuclear bomb will not pose a existential threat to the United States, but it will bring home a reality that most politicians in Washington have learned to ignore over the years: Iran is a major regional actor that wants a seat at the table. In this regard many may scoff at the notion of nuclear weapons as a status symbol yet it is quite evident that possessing them can very well play a role in enhancing to stature of a country.
The real fear behind especially the Israeli hyperbole on Iran is not an imminent existential threat either, but rather the prospect of losing its regional monopoly on nuclear weapons, forcing the country to finally deal with a geopolitical reality that requires reciprocal relationships. One of the reasons the Israeli leadership can afford (so far) to evade the political reality and consequences of their own actions and the make up of the region is their sway (real and imagined) in U.S. policymaking with regard to the Middle East. -- Rouzbeh Parsi

Joseph was not an Egyptian; he worked in Egypt after his brothers sold him into slavery because they were tired of his showing off. Later he saved their lives. And that prostitute was named RAHAB, not REHAB (which is where I suspect you are writing from), and there is no evidence anywhere that Rahab was the mother of any of the Patriarchs. She was helpful to the spies who came into Canaan to scout the place out, in return for a pass for her family. That's all my Bible says about her. Moses was not married to "an Arab"; he was married to a Jewish woman. You need to put down the duckie and get yourself a good concordance.
Jack in Wi.| 3.10.12 @ 8:30AM
Joseph was an Egyptian by adoption. The Pharoh gave him a wife a huge position. When his family was starving in Cannan the Egyptians gave them food and a home. They were very well treated by the Pharoh and his visor Joseph. All this nonsense of trying to recreate Judea from a fantasy vision is nuts. There never was any country like what the Zionists are trying to re-create. God had a mission for the Jews. that mission was to bring forth the truth about the One True God and the Messiah of the World. That mission has been completed for 2000 years. The mission of the Jews today is to follow Jesus and his teachings and to love their neighbors as themselves.

Jack,
Thank you for exposing yourself (and, really, all true liberals) as the haters of Jews that you are. While exhorting them to treat foreigners who lived among them well, God allowed the Jewish people to annihilate their neighboring countries, when they tried to destroy the Jewish people. Today, Iran and other Arab countries are actively trying to wipe the Jewish people off the planet. Any reasonable person would allow the Jewish people to defend themselves. Of course, reasonable people do not include those who hate the Jewish people (liberals, like yourself) or who wish for their destruction.
Jack in Wi.| 3.11.12 @ 11:32AM
Mike Bee: You talk nonsense. The Muslims allowed the Jews to practice their faith among them for 1300 years. The Jewish communities were well respected in many Muslim nations. They loved using the Jews for their commercial and mangerial skills to help run their empires. The Jews in Spain, for example, were used as middle men in overseeing the Christian population. When the Spanish Jews were given the option of either converting to Christianity or leaving Spain, with their property, by Ferdinand and Isabella many moved to Muslim countries.
Now you like the parts of the Bible where God supposedly told the Jews to committ genocide. I seem to remember that God allowed Israel and the Temple to be leveled several times and the people scattered. God allowed Hitler to commit his crimes. Did God want that to happen? I believe God did not to allow the Jews to murder their foes down to the last cow, including women and the children. I think those genocidal passages were put in there by the Jewish transcribers of scripture as a way to justify crimes against humanity. That is just like the most extreme Zionists here are pushing for nuclear genocide and mass murder so they won't have to live in peace with their neighbors.
My God said." Love your neighbor as yourself. What you do to the least of of my brethern you do unto me. Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called children of God. Those who live by the sword will die by the sword. The truth will set you free. Turn your cheek and then offer the other one. " I follow the God of love, also called the Prince of Peace. You follow the god's of war and mayhem.

Israel follows G-d's commandments Jack. It respects the rights of all citizens, Muslim, Christian and Jews, men and women. You should spend more time thinking about how Israel's neighbors treat their Jewish and Christian people (I say people because they can't be citizens in those lands) and their women. That Israel reserves the right to defend itself from neighbors like Iran, whose leader regularly calls for Israels destruction and the annihilation of its people, does not contravene G-d's word. Go crawl back under your rock.
Jack in Wi.| 3.10.12 @ 8:10AM
Israel treats its non Jewish citizens, mostly about one and a half million Arabs, like we used to treat our black citizens, second class. It treats the people under its control in the concentration camp in Gaza and the concentration camp on the West Bank worse then Hitler treated you Jews up until 1938. The policy is quite similar. Hitler wanted the Jews out of his empire by harrassing them and pushing them to leave. The Israeli's want to the same thing to the Palistinians who they stole the land from. We all know how Hitler went after 1938. There are many Israeli supporters here and in Israel who call for genocide against the Palistinians and keep quoting from the genocidal parts of Genesis and Exodus. The fact of the matter is that old Israel was a multi-ethnic country with many nationalities. There never was any pure blood, pure religion country there. It has always been a mixed up place. It is time Israel recognized that fact and integrated itself like the South Africans have and we have done here in the USA.

Why wouldn't the Israeli Arabs want to live in Israel. The land has been their home for thousands of years. The rest of the Palistinians there would live there as well if Israel made itself a country where there rights are respected. The proper question in that survey should have been do we want an end to the Jewish state and a truely integrated state where all people would be treated the same. In other words the one state solution. I dare say 99% of the Israeli Arabs would say yes. If Israel is such a free country why will an Arab who calls for such a solution be expelled from the Kinesset?

A Preeminent and Venerable Delusion
Perhaps the most preeminent and venerable delusion today is that the New Covenant was promised to a Gentile church. Contrary to this myth perpetuated by Origin, Chrysostom, Augustine, Luther, Calvin, and the winds of doctrine that currently abound, Jeremiah has literally hard-coded the primary recipients:
Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD: But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more (Jeremiah 31:31-34, emphasis added).
And this is confirmed virtually verbatim after He poured out the New Covenant in His blood:
Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah: Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord. For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest. For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more (Hebrews 8:8-12, emphasis added).
Thankfully when some of the natural branches were broken off there was provision, a cautionary provision, for Gentiles to be grafted in:
And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert grafted in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree; Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee. Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be grafted in. Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear: For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee. Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off. And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be grafted in: for God is able to graft them in again. For if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and wert grafted contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which be the natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree? For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob: For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins (Romans 11:17-27, emphasis added).

Here's the problem. The new covenant is centered around the True Messiah. Those who do not accept Jesus as Messiah are not part of true Israel, plain and simple; otherwise, there are two ways to salvation, not one.
Galatians 3:6-9: 6 Even so Abraham BELIEVED GOD, AND IT WAS RECKONED TO HIM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS. Therefore, be sure that it is those who are of faith who are sons of Abraham. The Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, “ALL THE NATIONS WILL BE BLESSED IN YOU.” So then (M)those who are of faith are blessed with Abraham, the believer.

Almost the entirity of very early Christians were Jews. The Yahwist hierarchy (for want of a better word) rejected that Messianic cult even though the earliest followers were constantly in the Temple at prayer. Paul realized that all were able to be "adopted" into the kingdom of God. When the Temple was destroyed in 70 AD, the seperation became institutionalized.

ISRAEL ISSUES ULTIMATIM TO IRAN
(Please forgive my breaking the thread. crucial!
This week, Israel Prime Minister Netanyahu spoke at the AIPAC assembly in New York. Interestingly enough, it was reported that a clear majority of our Congress was in attendance. (National Review Online has his complete speech on video on their home-page today.)
I sat stunned at his openness and bluntness. He said Israel will simply NOT live under the cloud of Iranian nuclear weapons. I for one believe him absolutely.
Many of you have read my book; “America Alone Said NO!” (amazon.com Kindle store.) Are you all aware that you do not need a Kindle device to read Kindle books? You can download Kindle books directly to your computer in about one minute with simple steps anyone can follow. You just direct the Kindle store to direct the E-book to “kindle for PC”.
The reason I mention my book is that there is an ENORMOUS amount of ACURATE critical research underlying the story THAT CAN PROTECT YOU AND YOURS….and give you a heads up about how things could very well play out.
There is no doubt in my mind that if necessary, Israel will “go it alone” when THEY think it is necessary. Why? Because they have already done so TWICE! (Iraq and Syria).
As a civilian, my best estimate is that Israel can put three hundred attack bombers over Iran on each sortie. That means SIX hundred airplanes per day…minus losses.
When they attack…it will be an all-out effort, and with their extensive spy network in Iran, they KNOW where the key targets are down to the meter.
OH, by the way…it hasn’t been discussed, but Israel has six to ten missile carrying submarines that will be on station off Iran with both conventional and nuclear warheads. Call it a hundred and fifty conventional missiles…on target…I would guess on air-defense suppression so their planes have an easier time.
My best guess is that in the event that Iran launches ONE long range missile towards Israel…then Israel MUST go nuclear to blanket Iran’s long range missile sites. (See, Iran just might have a nuke or two bought or built already.)
My estimate is that those Israeli subs hold perhaps 40 nukes on-board….not city killers…but rather tactical sized warheads.
…OH…and I must mention and EMP option that fries every wire and chip in Iran.
Make no mistake. We are on the eve of a major war!
The effects of that war will come to your house, and mine. (If nothing else, you won’t be able to buy gas to get to work.)
Israel MUST pre-empt to survive as a country. In any case, they KNOW their own casualties will be horrendous. Nevertheless they can survive as a people …but only if they pre-empt.
Some twenty thousand short range missiles are already dialed in against Israel. My personal opinion is that those short-range missiles are being “saved up” to swamp Israel’s missile defense shields for the main event.
Ladies and gentlemen…think it through. If you awoke one night with ten suicidal maniacs on your front lawn…what would YOU do? Do you cringe in your bedroom hiding behind your wife …or do you pre-empt by shot-gunning as many of them as you can to protect your family…though it costs you your life?
Pretty simple isn’t it?
The only question is “when” you open fire…or hide behind your wife and kids.

Two neat things about .22s...one, you can use them for small-game-bird harvesting...cheap.

No, a great deal could go wrong, especially against multiple hardened targets at the planes’ maximum range. Planes could get lost or crash or have to turn back. Planes arriving over the targets could miss, or accidentally drop their bombs on civilians, or simply not do much damage. Many targets would remain unscathed.
Additional waves of attack would be needed in a situation where Iran would be better prepared to shoot down the planes. And the second wave would face huge Western opposition. But it would be too late either way since Israel would now be in a full war with Iran.
Imagine a media report after an Israeli attack: A dozen Israeli warplanes hit Iranian nuclear installations today. Three places were damaged to some extent but Iran has a large number of such facilities. Iran and Israel are now in a full state of war. Oil prices zoomed up. The Obama Administration and EU condemned the attack. Iran said it would redouble its drive for nuclear weapons and use them in its defense. Tehran is expected to put the priority on facilities outside of Israel's range.
So given all of these factors why should Israel possibly attack Iran? It is an absurd idea."

It would also reduce the Muslim population by a bunch.
Finally, it would be justified and righteous.

Interesting thought and perspective on an age old historical tension between the jews and Persia. We can even take the, I won't say conflict, competition between Persiaq and the West back to the bronze age or at leat to the days of Greece and Persian empire circe 500 BC.
Persia has a long history and a proud one. It is a mistake for us to treat the current situation as somehow outside that world historical context. Persia (Iran) faces a demographic disaster over the next fifty years. In part that is what is puching this attempt to restore Persisn influence in the world. Their history is all around them as is the evidence of the ongoing east-west tension (and recurring wars) in the form of ruined cities and great monuments.
Never overlook how we got to where we are today. America is so young it does not carry the historical baggage the rest of the world does. As a result we forget to look to the past to find answers for today.

Iran was a strong ally of the USA under the Shah. We did help overthrow the commie Mossadeq and install the Shah who attempted to modernize the country. That idiot Jimmy Carter would not support the Shah which allowed the nutcase Khomeni to return to Iran from Paris and undo all of the Shah's modernization.
I am sure the vast majority of Iranians do not want a war and would prefer to live in peace, but they are ruled by the mullahs who want a war with Israel and the USA.
Obama could have helped two years ago whent he Iranians were demonstrating for freedom. He could have given verbal support and encouragement. He remained silent.

Yes, please remember that many Persians do not agree with their government and hate neither Jews or Christians (many feel Islam was forced upon them). Remember them in your prayers. Many are God's people too. Having been abandoned to oppressive leadership was the worst thing that could have happened to them. I hope any Israeli strike will be "surgical" in skill, and will avoid harming as many people as possible.

Keep an eye on Israel and pray. Netanyahu's gift to Obama seems a harbinger beyond Obama's comprehension.
Look at the way this vile piece of human excrement Obama continues to align with and focus our country's global actions in the furtherance of evil, all while claiming his good intentions.
Is it coincidence or divine providence that Obama has made more progress toward coalescing Islam under one banner in three years than has been accomplished in the last (someone help me with the math but) thousand years?
I always thought it would be Iran or Russia who attacked Israel, what if it's us?
Would Obama give Iran a nuke? He gave Russia information about England's nuclear arsenal. What behind the scenes deals has he cut with Islam?
Does Obama feel obligated to protect Iran from an unauthorized attack by Israel? What would he be willing to do to gain favor in the middle east?
Obama has repeatedly acted to overthrow the governments of several countries so Islam can take charge, why wouldn't he deal on the hated Israel? If Israel is destroyed and the Muslims stop sending oil, wouldn't that create the motivation for us to adopt his green policies?

Zionist propaganda never ceases to amaze me. When the Palestinian tried to gain statehood at the UN: the propagandists were out in force . Now they are encouraging the war drums. This is the tail wagging the head. The European colony at the heart of ME will never gain peace untill it recognises crimes against the colonised. Israel is already technically an Arab state ( including west bank but excluding refugees). where now Zionism ( of the jewish variety - the christain variety is a fascist movement that can not be engaged with rationally). It must evolve or wither like other ideological Utopias.

The Crusader kingdom only lasted about 80 years. Modern Israel is what, 65? Too much historical baggage all around.
John786| 3.9.12 @ 12:39PM
Al Adab,
yes we can go into history. But Israel is a fact on the ground. The question is what kind of state it's going to be: two states, a single state. Present Zionist policy Is heading for a single state - but they have expressed strongly that they want a Jewish state. How do we square the circle : more ethnic cleansing? Jewish nationalism has hit a brick wall. It still has a chance to evolve but needs to distant itself from christain Zionism : who quite clearly have a different & very destructive agenda. With present policies it may well implode over the next coming decades under the pressure of its own contradiction.
Al Adab| 3.9.12 @ 1:52PM
As always my friend you pose good questions. All too often they elude solution due, I think, to the historical baggage I reference. It is hard for people to overcome the social and cultural factors which create them. This is something Americans have trouble with as their nation is so young. Do I understand correctly your use of christian Zionism to reference Christian supporters of Israel?

My opinion. Netenyahu will do what he and his inner most cabinet and his own conscience believe what is best for Israel and he knows that Obama does not give a damn. That means something will be done about Iran--but in what form we will not know and may never know because it could be one of those subtle covert operations and not one big B0000000000m. Though this too could happen.

Well, we can all spout Scripture from now till Doomsday (which may come sooner than we think) but no one, in the media, or on this site, is noticing the 800-lb gorilla in the room. Towit, war is inevitable. It is going to happen. Iran is working feverishly to complete their bomb. Even Odumbo is finally convinced. Israel will strike, it's only a matter of timing. When they do, Iran has stated many times it will close the Straits of Hormoz and start flinging missles (conventional) everywhich way. Now what then comes into play is a stated policy of the US from the very beginnings of the Republic. Namely--Freedom of the Seas. Or freedom of the sea lanes. We've gone to war many times, from the Barbary Wars to 1812, to WWI to the US-Iran gunboat war of 1987-88 to uphold that. When the Iranians have choked off that passage, will we ( the New-Agers in the WH) open it again? When the Arab states in the region see us fold, they will all clamor to get their own bomb. Try ignoring that. Or the $10.00 a gallon gas.

Why do the Israelis act as they do? Simple answers. One, the Holocaust. Two, surrounded by insanity they do not wish to repeat One. Third, the nation of Israel was founded/created and supported to make up for One. Regardless of Scripture, One and Two in and of themselves would be enough for any country to be....pro-active. Since the US was the leader in supporting their founding, that's why this country has been, until the Kenyan, watching their back.
Mike Hawk| 3.11.12 @ 8:47AM
