Obama's Open Buffet

He dishes up more gimmicky socialism in his State of the Union address.

Glib and cocky as ever, Barack Obama used his State of the Union address on Tuesday night to push his sophomoric and gimmicky socialism. While the nation drowns in debt and the economy continues to teeter, Obama devotes himself to the empty symbolism of the "Buffett rule." He had the Omaha billionaire's secretary placed in a seat of honor near the First Lady.

Barack and Michelle are the quintessential champagne socialists, enjoying the trappings of power -- the First Lady donned an ostentatious royal blue designer dress that probably cost more than several months of her prop's secretarial salary -- while decrying the excesses of the rich.

The speech was immensely dull, revolving around the usual tedious laundry list of nothing proposals. It made Monday's sterile Republican presidential candidates debate look stimulating.

Obama conceives of himself as the great puppet master of the American economy, doling out "rewards" and "punishments" to the business community. He paid tribute to the widow of Steve Jobs, also strategically placed in the audience. This seemed odd. Didn't Steve Jobs regard Obama as an anti-business president? Jobs was also known for shipping jobs to Asia, owing to the left's stifling regulations. Obama, in this address, made a special point of condemning this practice, vowing to reward companies that keep jobs at home and punish companies that go global.

It is clear that Obama doesn't want companies to prosper here or abroad, unless they somehow fit into his statist schemes. The speech was full of dreary government-knows-best proposals. The great community organizer announced that community colleges under his leadership will play a pivotal role in the revival of the American economy. Community colleges can become "community career centers" that tutor Americans in new skills, he said. Obama also revealed his high hopes for wind farms and other forms of "clean energy."

He made liberal use of the word "investment" as his euphemism for new government programs. Near the beginning of the speech, he praised bailouts (he bragged at length about bailing out the American auto industry); by the end of it, he had vowed to end them.

He professed great regard for the martial virtues of America's soldiers, holding them out as an example to bickering and undisciplined politicians. Candidate Obama had said George W. Bush's wars ruined America's standing in the world. But now he says that the returning soldiers from Iraq elevated the world's "respect" for America.

Having already turned America's military over to gay rights activists, he now unleashes environmentalists on them too. One of the military's new missions, according to his State of the Union address, is to offer a helping hand in the search for "clean energy."

Obama strained hard to remind Americans that Osama bin Laden was killed on his watch and that he is passionately pro-military. He said that he wants to set up a jobs program for returning vets. He rejected the assertion that America is in decline. "America is back," he declared.

Sensing that he needed to offer a few words in support of leaner government, he quoted a line from Abraham Lincoln to the effect that government should only perform those tasks beyond the power of the people. Never mind that most of the proposals in the speech were a violation of this principle. By "shared responsibility," the jargony phrase with which he peppered the speech, he means a fatter federal government that swoops down and takes responsibility from the people.

"Spreading the wealth around," as he said to Joe the Plumber in 2008, is his organizing principle. Wealth belongs to the government automatically, under this thinking, and so any money not taken by Obama constitutes in his mind reckless government "spending." It pains him to think that millionaires are making profits off already-taxed money. He proposes the Buffett rule to correct this injustice and usher in a new era of income equality. This isn't "class warfare," he said, but "common sense," a threadbare claim the 2012 race will test.

"This isn't Class Warfare, but Common Sense."

What does a guy, who CHOOSES Joe Biden to be his Veep, know about "Common Sense"? What does a guy, who's at $16 Trillion in Debt, and CLIMBING, know about "Common Sense"? And, what's so Commonsensical, about Killing the Golden Goose? (The XL Pipeline)

Common Sense tells us that: We give the Muslim Guy, standing in line to get on a Plane, the ANAL Probe, not the Red Headed Grandmother in the Wheelchair, and her 3 year old Granddaughter.

Common Sense tells us that we LOOK FOR GUNS, in the High Crime Areas of our Cities, by Stopping and Frisking, the "Most Likely Suspects".

Common Sense tells us that we CLOSE THE BORDER. Common Sense tells the Police Man that: When he pulls the Car over, and the Driver doesn't have a Licence, and CAN'T SPEAK ENGLISH? He should be held, until his Immigration "Status" can be determined.

Common Sense dictates that: When at WAR? Kill them all, and let GOD sort it out. When's the last time an ARTILLERY STRIKE has been called in? When was the last Massive Air Strike? When was the last TOMOHAWK launched.

You want more?

Common Sense is Drilling off of OUR Coasts, not giving Money to Brazil, so they can Drill off of their Coast.Common Sense is Upgrading OUR Refineries, not giving Money to Colombia, to upgrade theirs.

Common Sense is giving Military Aircraft Contracts to AMERICAN Companies, in AMERICA, not to Companies in Brazil.
(The whole Brazil/George Soros connection, needs to be "Looked At" if you ask me.)

Common Sense tells us that this President doesn't give a Flying F*ck about the American People. (Citizens) He doesn't care about "White Working Families". (His Campaign has already said as much.) He doesn't care for the people who are PULLING THE WAGON.

He is President Lowest Common Denominator. President Unemployment Check. Like all of the other Roman Emperors before him, who ran their Empire in to the ground, he'll throw Bread in to the Crowds, while Blaming his Roman Senate, for all of their ills.

One need look no further than the Black Community, in this Country, to see the End Result of what he deems: COMMON SENSE.
"Everybody plays by the same rules. Everybody shares the Wealth. Nobody should have an unfair Advantage. No man should have more than another." ALL of these things are in the Black Community, in every Major City in this Country.

How's that working out? How's that been 'Working' for the last 60 YEARS? Let's see: 85% of all Black Children are born in to Single Parent Households. (Woman) There are no Fathers in the House. And a lot of these children end up DEAD. Murdered by "The Boyfriend".

Although they are only 15% of the Population. They Commit 56% of all Violent Crime. The #1 Cause of Death for Young Black Men, is HOMOCIDE. Their "Communities" tend to be High Crime, Drug Infested, Gang Infested, GHETTOS. Their Public (UNION) Schools are always at the top of everybodys' "FAILED SCHOOL" Lists. They are forever trapped in a Caste System, engineered for them, by DEMOCRATS, and their Common Sense.

That is his DREAM for America. "One Nation. Under HIM. With Liberty and Justice, and MILLIONS in Taxpayer Money, for all of HIS Big Donors."
Amen.

Brilliant as always, Mr. Pennell! Well stated. I especially like this:

"Like all of the other Roman Emperors before him, who ran their Empire in to the ground, he'll throw Bread in to the Crowds, while Blaming his Roman Senate, for all of their ills."

Hence the reason why our modern "optimates" MUST succeed where Cicero & his group of optimates failed.

I remember the tax rebate bread crumbs of March 2008 that led to the sweet violins in the backround as GWB, with much "Mission Accomplished" fanfare announced, "The fundamentals of the Economy are fine". John McCain, before he scrambled for publicity during his 'suspended' campaign quoted the Cowflop from Connecticut just before Hank the Crank told a secret meeting of our leaders, "My 35 years as the most important investment banker of our time has failed Me. The Treasury, ripe for looting, may become worthless if ALLLLLLL My old golf buddies and Christmas party guests don't get massive amounts of deficit CASH to do with as they please IMMEDIATELY.... the financial system Georgie appointed Me supervisor of WILL collapse on schedule, 6 months early."

Under orders from their Commander in Chief who was joyriding in a multi billion dollar plane in a war zone? Bushchev even pointed it out after he made sure the camera's had it in the backround and in his prepared speech... "mission Acconplished" was his catch phrase.

"On May 1, 2003, Bush became the first sitting President to make an arrested landing in a fixed-wing aircraft on an aircraft carrier[2][3] when he arrived at the USS Abraham Lincoln in a Lockheed S-3 Viking, dubbed Navy One, as the carrier returned from combat operations in the Persian Gulf. He posed for photographs with pilots and members of the ship's crew while wearing a flight suit. A few hours later, he gave a speech announcing the end of major combat operations in the Iraq War. Far above him was the warship's banner stating "Mission Accomplished."
Bush was criticized for the historic jet landing on the carrier as an overly theatrical and expensive stunt. For instance, they pointed to the fact that the carrier was well within range of Bush's helicopter, and that a jet landing was not needed.[4] Originally the White House had stated that the carrier was too far off the California coast for a helicopter landing and a jet would be needed to reach it. On the day of the speech, the Lincoln was only 30 miles (48 km) from shore but the administration still decided to go ahead with the jet landing. White House spokesman Ari Fleischer admitted that Bush "could have helicoptered, but the plan was already in place. Plus, he wanted to see a landing the way aviators see a landing."

The Lincoln might have been at the end of this tour, but the whole parade was a plan and when it flopped as a stunt, surely Ari Fleisher had a cover story that "the men did it."

Ask your self, pissant, if they would have had a banner made for a San Diego port stop, when their homeport was Everett, WA? Ask yourself where in the ship they kept the 'Print shop' capable of creating a 100' vinyl banner? Moron!

Kudos on knowing how to Google, but you have the same shit4brains factchecker that FoxPropaganda Network uses.

albert constantine jr.| 1.25.12 @ 9:02AM

Since you mentioned Biden, please allow me to leap on top of my soapbox and engage in one of my repeated rants once again. I saw an article when the VPOTUS was asked about Gingrich, and in reference to the ex-wife issue, Biden said the voters would have to make determinations about character.

In that vein, I think some words about his own marital situation needs to be replayed. The first wife of the VPOTUS was killed in a car crash along with an infant daughter back in 1973, shortly before he was sworn in for Senator. The Senator some time thereafter met his current wife, Jill, and began dating.

What seems to be absent from the narrative in that Jill was married throughout that time to Bill Stevenson, who was the owner of the Stone Balloon, a very successful night club in Newark, Delaware. Even as that marriage was dissolving, it is reported that she would not finalize the divorce as she was looking to get a big piece of the action from the club. It is said she did not; Stevenson, on the other hand, wound up serving short state and federal sentences for tax and drug charges.

Will ABC be showing an interview with Mr. Stevenson on Nightline after this fall’s vice presidential debate?

Gingrich, well, it's the pattern of behavior that convicts him of infidelity as a human. I bet he promises waitresses a big tip and leaves them his business card.

It is not the cheating that makes Gingfling reprehensible, it's holding an MS stricken woman's hand in a sick bed and 'helping' her sign the divorce papers. It's the despicability of violently challenging a question he KNOWS he can not answer and save face on.

It is the flatulence with which the Lizard speaks, the fact that he is a unrepentant, check kiting, thieving, lying, conniving, schemer, blasphemer and reprobate. albert constantine jr| 1.25.12 @ 11:30AM

Didn't you know? Buffett owns the rail line that oil from that region of Canada is transported along right now. Canada won't be able to sell all of their oil to China, so some will have to come through us, thus increasing Buffett's war chest at the expense of the rest of the country.

This whole anti-pipeline business is stupid anyway. Look at the ANWR region along the pipeline, after its construction wildlife in the region INCREASED due to the constantly warmer climate created along the line. There is the POSSIBILITY of environmental damage if something goes wrong with the Keystone pipeline, but when was the last time you heard of any major spills from the ANWR line? Oh yea, NEVER! Why? Because they have really good backup systems to contain the crude in case something happens to the main line: http://www.reuters.com/article.....4U20100526

That's the closest you can come to an ANWR disaster (the Exxon Valdez spill doesn't count, it was on a SHIP not the pipeline). Also, the environmental study that Obama says has to happen before he would approve of the project was done BEFORE the bill was even submitted, and it was done BY THE EPA!

Orr,Gasm and Associates| 1.27.12 @ 4:08AM

The big difficulty is the Corruption of Bush Appointees in the bidding for the work. Obama fired her Yesterday and while she may have been qualified, she was legally obligated to support Trans Canada in a contract with the State of Alaska.

Remember the Convict, Ted Stevens? This is his baby and the XL pipeline ... just another part of the scam.

Oh, Jul 3, 2011 : "Teams of federal and state workers fanned out Sunday along Montana's famed Yellowstone River to gauge the environmental damage from a ruptured Exxon Mobil pipeline that spewed tens of thousands of gallons of crude oil into the waterway.
The break near Billings, in south-central Montana, fouled the riverbank and forced municipalities and irrigation districts to close intakes.
An Environmental Protection Agency spokeswoman Sonya Pennock said an unspecified amount of oil could be seen some 40 miles downriver during a fly-over Sunday, and there were other reports of oil as far as 100 miles away near the town of Hysham.

Read more: http://www.foxnews.com/us/2011.....z1keEQBp3I"

Republicans seem to be content to let Obama spend another four years in office since they are once again unable to find any popular candidates to represent them.

The good thing about Obama is that he is so incompetent that he can't really advance the liberal agenda. Obama will spend his next four years golfing and vacationing while the republic languishes, and perhaps in that time Republicans can find someone popular to run in the next election.

I didn’t waste time watching Obama, but I'm not surprised that as he guts America's military he orders it to invest in his failed and crony green energy scams. Any three of the Republicans (Gingrich, Romney or Santorum) no matter how flawed are head and shoulders better than Obama.

While I didn’t listen to Daniels response I read the text and was left indifferent by his mushy John McCain style of sucking up and immediately buying into the Democrat formula that the economic crisis of the Obama administration is not Obama’s fault. Rather than Daniel's blasé standard political fare he might have spoken to working Americans and reminded them of how bad things are under Obama.

Thanks to Obama the unemployment rate is 8.5% and for most of his administration has been over 9%. When he was elected it was 6.8%. Regular gasoline per gallon cost $1.68 in January 2009. Today, it’s $3.39 — that’s a 102% increase in just three years. Electricity bills have also skyrocketed, with households now paying a record $1,420 annually on average, up some $300. This is Obama’s economy and he should be held accountable.

Daniels should have spoken directly to moms by stating (with props) the average retail price for one pound of 100 % ground beef was $2.36 in January 2009. As of December 2011, that price had risen to $2.92—a 23.7 % increase and a new peak. One pound of sliced bacon in January 2009 was $3.73 and in December 2011 had climbed $4.55, an increase of 22 %. Whole milk prices averaged above three dollars 33 out of the 36 months since Obama took office. In January 2009, the price for one gallon of whole milk was $3.58; but by December 2011, milk prices had slightly declined less than 1 % (0.28 percent) to $3.57 per gallon.

For those seeking to draft Daniels I can only say there are better Republicans for the job – Bob McDonnell, Bobby Jindal, Haley Barbour, Rick Perry, Susan Martinez, Scott Walker, Marco Rubio, Alan West or Mike Pence. Daniels just doesn’t have the fire and it is understandable why he didn’t jump into the race for President.

I don't believe there is a single person here who would defend the economics of the Bush administration. Most of us here believe that Bush was a stain on the Republican party for his allowing and acquiescing grotesque government spending. Indeed, Bush is the reason for all of the caterwauling about Romney; we fear he will be another Bush.

But having said that, Bush has not been president for three years. Unemployment is significantly higher under Obama that it was under Bush. Total U. S. debt is now 15.5 trillion dollars. In 2008 it was 10.5 trillion dollars. And the annual deficit is currrently 1.5 trillion dollars. In 2008, it was 500 billion dollars, and had dropped to about 140 billion dollars in 2007, before the bank crisis hit.

Yeah, Bush was a jerk, but attacking him in no way exonerates the fool currently residing in the White House. You don't seem to want to talk about that too much.

The Revenue #'s are in differing economies. AFTER Bush tanked 8 million plus jobs as a result of his last year of policy, and the value of all publicly traded companies was slashed LITERALLY in half during the last year of the Bush Regime, of course the revenue would go down. Bush policy poured value out of the economy like a kid pours sand out of a bucket at the beach.

"US Budget Deficit: 2008 Doubles 2007
From Kathy Gill, About.com Guide September 10, 2008
The Congressional Budget Office projects the federal deficit for fiscal 2008 (which ends September 30) at $407 billion for fiscal 2008, more than double last year's figure. Next year's deficit is currently projected at $438 billion -- that's before taking into account Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
As the Wall Street Journal notes, the problem is spending, which is expected to hit 21.5% of GDP next year. I can't rationalize the accompanying chart, however. It shows "defense" spending increasing only 64% (inflation-adjusted dollars) during the Bush era. Where, pray tell, is the bill for Iraq and Afghanistan? If those two wars haven't even doubled the Pentagon budget, then it's long past time to figure out where all of those other defense dollars are going."

This was 11 days before Paulson told Bushg, "Opps, the bubble is bursting as we speak. We didn't rebate enough taxes to cover up the problem until the election. We're screwed!!!"

"Can WE borrow $700 billion to give to the banks without reservation, interest, regulation or restrictions for the next 5 years?" Said hank to the Congress on 9/21/2008.

Since demand for gas changes very little because of price, the improvements we've seen in the economy just mean we'll be paying more at the pump.

We're not even close to full employment. Yet in the past year, gasoline prices have increased 10% to an average of $3.39 as of last week. That's not far from the high of $4.11 we saw in July 2008, before the recession fully took hold.

We may still be hurting here at home, but the U.S. is no longer the biggest driver of oil demand growth worldwide. A growing middle class in China, India, and Brazil has increased global demand. If our employment picture at home continues to improve and consumer confidence stays strong, those summer trips that have been canceled the last few years will be back on the table and the U.S. consumer will help push prices even higher.

Perhaps this is why we should drill for oil in ANWR, open more fields for oil exploration in the Gulf, and finally, allow the Keystone Pipeline from
Canada to be built.

And if you sincerely believe that "demand for gas changes very little because of price," well, no wonder you believe the snake-oil salesman in the White House. You don't have a clue about anything.

Orr,Gasm and Associates| 1.27.12 @ 4:47AM

People drive and vacation a little less, but the oil speculation drives the price of gasoiline. Mideast conflict, nigerian strikes and skirmishes, Venezuelan politics all drive the price of gasoline more than the consumer.

hell, the WEATHER drives the price of oil more than the consumer! If I am wrong, explain the huge windfall profits after Katrina? We had a reserve and Bush dipped into it, so why didn't gas prices stay uniform?

The question I keep coming back to is this:
When will Warren Buffett's secretary release her tax returns, so we can see what her rate really is?

Indy| 1.25.12 @ 8:30AM

There is much more in Buffett's return than his effective rate, let's see the ties to companies receiving money from Obama, talk about crony capitalism. As for his secretary, I'm sure she makes a nice salary, she's probably a very nice person and good at her job but I don't have any sympathy for her. I'll be working on my return this weekend, it's always painful to do when you know so much of what we pay is wasted and then when you think how many Americans pay $0 in federal taxes...your head pounds the desk.

Brian Mc| 1.25.12 @ 8:55AM

The federal government can take their sixteenth amendment and shove it. It has no right to know what anyone makes. There's some "Common Sense" for you.

Indy| 1.25.12 @ 9:45AM

I hear what you are saying. The only reason I speak of transparency of Buffett's return is the way he willing wants to be the prop to support O's agenda and driving the class warefare wedge. Buffett plays the game, he is a crony capitalist but because he's a D, he gets away with it. Put up or be silent, he is a political prop the left worships, I'm tired of it. His secretary by sitting next to MO is also now officially a political prop.

Buffett is NOT a Democrat. he is just a wise businessman and he knows that when business slacks you INVEST! in advertising, product improvements, efficiency. You don't hold lay off good people, you don't cut their benefits, you don't cheat your customers.

Warren knows the quickest way down the toilet is to do what the REDs did right after the 1st crash in '29. The followed hoover further into the ditch! Then AFTER Roosevelt reversed Hoover's agenda with CCC and WPA and Social Security and Bank regulations and margin maximums (leverage for you modern bumpkins) and the FDIC... the Republicans yanked the leash and strangled the Economy in 1936.

They were power mad then and they are power mad NOW. you buttmonkeys say getting the JOB done is a "power grab". WATERGATE was a power grab. Contract with America was a power grab. the Patriot Act was a power grab!!!

GEt a little truth in your game Junior:

First lady, lawyer, Chicago city administrator, community outreach worker and wife of U.S. President Barack Obama. Michelle LaVaughn Robinson Obama was born January 17, 1964, in Chicago, Illinois.

Michelle was raised on Chicago's South Side in a one-bedroom apartment. Her father, Frasier Robinson, was a city pump operator and a Democratic precinct captain. Her mother, Marian, was a Spiegel's secretary who later stayed home to raise Michelle and her older brother, Craig. The family has been described as a close-knit one that shared family meals, read and played games together.

Craig and Michelle, 16 months apart in age, were often mistaken for twins. The siblings also shared close quarters—they slept in the living room with a makeshift sheet serving as their room divider. Both children were raised with an emphasis on education. The brother and sister learned to read at home by the age of four, and both skipped second grade.

Gifted Student

By sixth grade, Michelle was attending gifted classes, where she learned French and took accelerated courses. She then went on to attend the city's first magnet high school for gifted children where, among other activities, she served as the student government treasurer. "Without being immodest, we were always smart, we were always driven and we were always encouraged to do the best you can do, not just what's necessary," her brother Craig, has said. "And when it came to going to schools, we all wanted to go to the best schools we could."

Michelle graduated in 1981 from Whitney M. Young Magnet High School in Chicago's West Loop as class salutatorian. After high school, she followed her brother to Princeton University, graduating cum laude in 1985 with a B.A. in Sociology. She went on to earn a J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1988, where she took part in demonstrations demanding more minority students and professors.

Marriage to Barack Obama

Following law school, Michelle worked as an associate in the Chicago branch of the law firm Sidley Austin in the area of marketing and intellectual property. There in 1989, she met her future husband, Barack Obama, a summer intern whom she was assigned as an adviser. "I went to Harvard and he went to Harvard, and the firm thought, 'Oh, we'll hook these two people up,'" Michelle said. "So, you know, there was a little intrigue, but I must say after about a month, Barack…asked me out, and I thought no way. This is completely tacky." Initially, she refused to date Obama, believing that their work relationship would make the romance improper. Eventually she relented, and the couple soon fell in love.

After two years of dating, Barack proposed. "We were at a restaurant having dinner to celebrate the fact that he had finished the bar," Michelle remembers. "Then the waiter came over with the dessert and a tray. And there was the ring. And I was completely shocked." The couple married at Trinity United Church of Christ on October 18, 1992.

High-Profile Work in Chicago

Michelle soon left her job to launch a career in public service, serving as an assistant to Mayor Daley and then as the assistant commissioner of planning and development for the City of Chicago.

In 1993, she became Executive Director for the Chicago office of Public Allies, a non-profit leadership-training program that helped young adults develop skills for future careers in the public sector.

Michelle joined the University of Chicago in 1996 as associate dean of student services, developing the University’s first community service program. She then worked for the University of Chicago Hospitals beginning in 2002, as executive director of community relations and external affairs.

In May 2005, she was appointed vice president of community relations and external affairs at the University of Chicago Medical Center, where she continues to work part-time. She also manages the business diversity program and sits on six boards, including the prestigious Chicago Council on Global Affairs and the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools.

Supporting her Husband

Michelle Obama first caught the eye of a national audience at her husband's side when he delivered a high-profile speech at the Democratic National Convention in 2004. Barack Obama was elected to the U.S. Senate from Illinois that November.

In 2007, she scaled back her own professional work to attend to family and campaign obligations during Barack's run for the Democratic presidential nomination. Michelle says she's made a "commitment to be away overnight only once a week — to campaign only two days a week and be home by the end of the second day" for their two daughters, Malia (born 1999) and Natasha (2001). It has been reported that the Obama family has no nanny, and that the children are left with their grandmother, Marian, while their parents campaign. "I've never participated at this level in any of his campaigns," Michelle says. "I have usually chosen to just appear when necessary."

Since her husband's political role pushed the Obama family into the spotlight, Michelle has been publicly recognized for her steely, no-nonsense campaign style as well as her sense of fashion. In May of 2006, Michelle was featured in Essence magazine as one of "25 of the World's Most Inspiring Women." Then in September 2007, Michelle was listed in 02138 magazine as number 58 in "The Harvard 100," a list of the most influential alumni for the year. She has also made the Vanity Fair best-dressed list two years in a row, as well as People Magazine's 2008 best-dressed list.

Talk about uninformed, Obama's policys are destroying our economy, i.e. middle income families. George Soros is now even going public with the likely ecomomic collapse and civil unrest to come and a heavy handed government reaction...not just Europe but the US. Soros funds Obama and all the leftist organizations. Obama and Soros are joined at the hip.

"However, according to Soros, worse than the riots and violence will be the government reaction.

“It will be an excuse for cracking down and using strong-arm tactics to maintain law and order, which, carried to an extreme, could bring about a repressive political system, a society where individual liberty is much more constrained, which would be a break with the tradition of the United States,” Soros said."

What Republican Congress? They control just over half of the house which is only 1/3rd of the goverment. Try blaming the other 2/3rds since the economy and our country went into the crapper beginning in 2006 when the Democrats took ove Congress.

Orr, Gasm and Associates| 1.25.12 @ 10:41AM

The economy went in the crapper in 2000. Stayed there, and with the tax cuts only appeared to grow in debt only. The net growth of the Bush/RED party leadership? The DOW at 7500 and falling on Inauguration day. 90 days later, after being braked to a halt by effective leadership (despite obstructonism and RED party excuses and pandering) was rising from a 6500 bottom.

Had Bush implimented mortgage restructuring in 2008 instead of kicking tax money bribes back to the tax payers (who gave it to the banks for bills) the whole mess might have only cost a trillion to be out of it.

This Country doesn't need managerial tweaks to it's lifeless economy. We need someone who can lift the hammer of Thor and slam it down in Washington D.C. and destroy the business as usual crowd, and send an American made economic shock wave around the world that will knock the EU off it's feet.

We have passed the 'fork' in the road. The 'representative republic' is history. We have travelled too far with this socialist democracy brainwashing our collective mindset as we stumble blindly along, further than our founders ever thought we would go. It is on our backs weighing us down; we can't get up, turn around and go back without first shedding the parasite draining us weak and dry. At this point there just isn't enough of us who see the evil and are willing to raise a hand and pull the 'right' lever. Short of this action we will never hear those words, "The United States is back", Melvin.

Does Warren Buffett’s Mistress Pay at Higher Tax Rate Than Him?
Okay, enough of Warren Buffett’s Secretary’s taxes relative to her boss; that argument takes us nowhere except to show Warren as not smart enough to pay her in stock options. The real question with tax implications is Warren’s mistress of 30 years, Astrid Menks.
It is unfortunate that she has a name best suited to a comic book character because she is a real person—not a glamorous gold digger. She has been taking care of Mr. Buffet ever since his wife, Susan, left him 35 years ago. Finally Susan died and Warren popped the question in 2006 and Astrid became the second Mrs. Warren Buffett. But what about the previous 30 years she toiled under Mr. Buffet? Cooking, cleaning, turning down his bed sheets and putting those *mints* near his pillow so he could suck on them before he fell asleep.
Did she ever pay taxes on her earnings? Oh, and she earned it—if you can believe any of the movies about the family life of stock billionaires. They are portrayed as emotionally immature, impatient, and very demanding day AND night. His wife Susan moved to California to get away from it. So you see, what Astrid had was a real job, if not the worst occupation in the entire Service Sector.
Even Warren couldn’t have been so cheap as to stiff her an income. Maybe he didn’t fork over cash, but she in sure she got paid in rent, groceries, gasoline, automobiles, jewelry, clothes, custom sunglass, hairdresser fees, and entertainment. But as all tax-paying citizens know, that is PAYMENT IN KIND! It is taxable! She should have declared it, paid 15 percent self employment tax, then federal income tax according to her bracket, and state taxes as well. If she was paid, she should release 30 years of tax returns.
For 30 years she wasn’t married to him and wasn’t filing jointly. She didn’t qualify for the marriage tax rate or extra deductions. I’m guessing that she owed a higher rate than Buffet’s secretary, who likely had dependents and itemized deductions such as a mortgage, college tuition, and the like. Astrid was probably paid more than the secretary (she worked more hours) and, when the numbers have been fully disclosed, Buffett’s Mistress undoubtedly OWED a higher rate than Warren himself! Where is the outrage?
Somehow, I doubt she filed on her “earnings.” Get the IRS and the mainstream media on the trail. She should be made an example for the entire county in the crackdown on mistress tax cheats. Just think of the money owed to the IRS: after all 42% of children are born out of wedlock—that makes at least 42% of mothers mistresses that receive in kind payment from men without declaring it. And some mistresses try to NOT get pregnant, increasing the percent of mistresshood in America to a lowball estimate of 50% of women over 18.
Haven’t they heard of the $15 trillion deficit? Time to round up the mistress tax cheats.

Anthony| 1.25.12 @ 8:45AM

Ground Control| 1.25.12 @ 9:50AM

President Bozo is like other Socialist morons who preceded him and countless who will follow. This empty knows absolutely nothing about economics and indeed is incapable of anything other than self promotion. Such people are in politics for their own egos and for nothing else. They can't actually DO anything, as Bozo's record clearly documents, but they want the CREDIT for doing "great things." Like Stanley Motss in "Wag the Dog" such people do what they do "for the credit!" President Bozo can't run a company, he can't develop a new product, and he has no capital to invest in a new idea. He creates absolutely nothing. He can't build what others have engineered. He can't even sell what others have built. So, he goes in to government. In government he can ORDER companies to make things, using the tax code as leverage. So, he can take CREDIT for something he can't actually DO. Bozo takes credit for "saving" GM (which by rights and US law should be out of business) and "creating" the Chevy Volt (which is a failed product that exists only because of government subsidies.) All Bozo has to do is CLAIM success, and because he is a politician, his claim is given credence. In the real world, he would be laughed off the stage. The only real benefit in this scenario is to Bozo's ego, as he takes credit for what he has not done, indeed cannot do, and lives the high life off the backs of taxpayers.

President Bozo wans to be Steve Jobs, but is not and cannot be. He wants to be Andrew Carnegie, Bill Gates, Henry Ford, and countless other innovators all rolled into one, and but their accomplishments are lightyears beyond Bozo's competence. But Bozo can take credit for the accomplishments of others since he can "order" things to be done. He can "order" the Volt into existence, he can "order" Solyndra's solar voltaic panels into existence, and he can "order" gasoline automobiles to get 45 MPG. Bozo gets "credit" for what he cannot do, spending and wasting other people's money in the process.

President Bozo is all about his own ego and he is capable of absolutely nothing else. That he himself is not even good at politics, having been carried through his "education" and into office by others, his handlers and puppeteers, and the propaganda machine that is ABC, CBS, CNN, and NBC, is completely lost on Bozo, and his sycophantic, infantile, supporters.

He would have stayed there all night, but his nose had grown too long and unwieldy, and was bumping into the teleprompters. Yes, Buffet's secretary was one of several "props" only invited to back up his BS. (Or do you think she would have attended anyway, just for fun?) I hate it when they schlepp out the "personal" stories that are supposed to tug at our heart strings. That must be what he means by "transparency." We can see right through all that. Funny how the camera's always right there on cue when he tells someone's sob story. The only amusement of the entire evening (besides Michelle's frock) was watching the closeups linger way too long on the "guests," to the point of visible discomfort for them. I thought Hillary was going to explode. Now that would have been a show.

Electing some republican will not correct the offense that is Obama. His governance has destroyed what little social fabric remained. Someday I may forgive the progressives but, I will never regain trust in the USA.

Bring on the decline. I hardly care anymore.

A speech like this exemplifies why the President IS the President. Can you imagine Mitt or Newt EVER doing better?

Listening to the President is like watching Vader construct the Death Star, you might not be sure what is is, but it can't be good...and your also in awe, good luck to the GOP, your going to need it.

Drunken Sailor| 1.25.12 @ 2:56PM

Considering this speech was rated at a 8th grade reading level? Yes, I can see either of them doing better. Hell even your favorite whipping boy Bush gave speeches that were at a 10th grade level.

"what is is, but it can't be good...and your also in awe, good luck to the GOP, your going to need it."

Not to be hyper critical, your majesty, since you compare favorably to ORR (or fckewe, or Harp, or whomever), but I offer the following spelling lesson:

you're (contraction of you are)
your (possessive).

It doesn't have to be error free or flawless, but repeating the same mistake twice in the same half sentence reflects poorly on your writing ability.

Point taken, I will polish my Prose...

Marc Jeric| 1.25.12 @ 1:22PM

I am now in my 80-th year, a retired engineer with a European degree plus M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from UCLA. At the age of 24 I had escaped from a communist hell and received a political asylum in France, where I worked 5 years while waiting for a US immigrant visa. Having finally obtained a 2-year conditional visa I arrived to this country in 1962 and in 1967 became a citizen. In the years since I have voted both for Democrats and Republicans, although after 1976 mainly for Republicans. Given a series of bloviating gasbags and functional morons with strong leftist tendencies such as McGovern, Carter, Mondale, Dukakis, Gore, Kerry, or that disbarred felon Clinton, it was impossible for me to do otherwise. I enjoyed the presidency of Ronald Reagan which put an end to the deadly communist regimes all across Europe; those Marxist dictatorships produced invariably utter poverty, terror, and mass murder, and are still doing it in places like North Korea and Cuba, with Venezuela, Ecuador, Byelorussia and Bolivia close behind.

However, we have now a completely different and much more dangerous situation here in America. The criminal political Chicago machine gave us a far-left revolutionary Marxist of doubtful origins as our President – Barack Hussein Obama; a son of a Kenyan communist and a flower-child leftist mother, with obscured past lacking any documentation of his university accomplishments before that Chicago political machine sent him to the US Senate. His accomplishments so far have been an arousing speech to the Democrat Convention, and two ghost-written books of his father’s and his own aspirations. I think I am justified by calling that machine criminal – after all two Democrat governors are serving time presently in prison; and in the elections of 1960 the machine elected Kennedy by some 150,000 votes of dead people.

Nurtured by his far-left grandparents, by the Communist Party USA Politburo member Davis, by the raving racist-communist Reverend Wright, and by the criminal communists Alinsky, Dohrn, and Ayers, this former citizen of Indonesia and Kenya Obama is implementing a rapid program of communization of America. All the former refugees from various communist hells can easily recognize the signs:

1) Obama is acting as the Secretary General of the Party;
2) Democrat Party has been taken over by the communists under various guises such as social justice movements and environmentalism;
3) Congressional Democrat leaders are in fact the Central Committee;
4) Obama’s White House advisers are his commissars (so-called czars) in charge of all federal departments – all unelected;
5) His Attorney General, a fervent racist and communist, is in charge of legal enforcement of Obama’s dictates, and in executive role of assuring Obama’s re-election, by fraud if necessary;
6) Obama’s program of massive nationalizations of private companies is under way – automobile companies, mortgage companies, many banks, several insurance companies, and pretty soon hospitals, doctor offices, and health insurance companies under Obamacare; then with the help of the global warming hoax will come the nationalization of oil & gas companies, coal mines, electricity companies, transportation companies;
7) Newly established Consumers Protection Agency will dictate business rules for banks, credit unions, mortgage companies – thus putting those under close government control; the newly appointed members of the National Labor Relations Board will favor unions by force of rules and regulations;
8) Obama’s Agit-Prop Office, as that organization in communist regimes was known, charged with communist agitation and propaganda, consists of our Main Stream Media: ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, NPR, CNN, NY Times, Washington Post, LA Times, Marxist university professors, shallow Hollywood actors, TV talking heads, etc.
9) Under the guise of environmental protection, social justice, sustainable development, and several UN-sponsored initiatives, our government is actively promoting a world socialist government under the direction of enlightened leadership of our intellectual classes; in that effort various domestic organizations such as Greenpeace, Friends of the Earth, Sierra Club, Union of Concerned Scientists, Institute of Policy Studies, ACLU, etc. are actively engaged, in collaboration with our EPA and DOE progressives. Our Secretary of Defense Leon Paneta is a former member of the Institute of Policy Studies that used to be directed by the KGB of the defunct USSR.
10) Obama’s system of local soviets, as the community organizations were known in the defunct Soviet Union, consisting of brown shirts and thugs supplied by ACORN, SEIU, AFL-CIO, AFSCME, NEA, AFT, Teamsters, Steel workers, municipal unions, ACLU lawyers, environmentalists, and other local government employees unions, is in charge of assuring the acceptable election results by illegal alien votes, by felon votes, by repeated voting of same people under manufactured names, by transporting illegal voters across voting districts, and by stuffing the voting machines with phony votes – all exactly as in those communist hells well known by us the refugees. These Obama’s striking forces will be financed in 2012 by the still unspent $8.7 billion from his original stimulus bill. AG Holder will make sure that no ID is required for voting. According to the statement by Obama – “We need a domestic military with a budget as large as that of the Pentagon” – these local soviets will soon be equipped with guns and bullets.
11) Fight against individual achievement by the application of new laws such as affirmative action, diversity, multiculturalism, inclusion, hate speech, anti-marriage, etc. – all are aimed at leveling the society at the lowest possible mark. After 40 years of rule by teachers unions we have now 3 generations of unemployable illiterate nincompoops and bottom feeders manning “Occupy Wall Street” protests and voting for our “Democrats” and for “social justice”.
12) Expansion of old and new welfare programs in order to ensnare the majority of population in the net of government dependence, such as food stamps, AFDC, apartment subsidies, WIC, school lunches, handicap payments, unemployment benefits, home mortgage subsidies, health insurance subsidies, etc.
13) Massive amnesty for illegal aliens by executive orders, thus creating a pool of about 15 million new citizens expanding government-dependent classes and voting for a new socialist order.

After Obama’s re-election in 2012 is assured, the progress of communization of America will be rapidly and irrevocably accomplished. Among the Republican presidential candidates there is nobody with the complete understanding of our dire situation, who could properly articulate and define the problem. All of them are unfortunately just run-of-the-mill politicians – all of them more or less normal Americans. On the other hand we have a president who is convinced of his divine origin: he believes himself to be either the second coming of Christ or the appearance of the 12th Imam (as per his friend Ahmadinejad) – just remember Obama’s words when addressing the global warming scam: “Tomorrow the oceans will stop rising, and the planet will start healing”. Shall we ask him to re-arrange the planetary system for a more equitable climatic result?

Another sign of Obama’s inflated self-importance is his declaration in a TV interview that his performance so far is among the best in US history, and should be favorably compared to those of Lyndon Johnson, FDR, and Lincoln. He reminds me of the Pinocchio in the children’s literature, whose nose grew longer every time he lied; or of a wound-up marionette when he saunters up the steps toward his teleprompter stuffed with remarks prepared by his White House advisers. The present economic crisis will inevitably worsen, thus demanding constitutional changes – such as eliminating the constitutional limit of two presidential terms; that will allow Obama to continue as President indefinitely, and in effect become a dictator for life, just as in communist countries – say North Korea, Venezuela, China, Vietnam, and Cuba.

Frightening – isn’t it? I sincerely hope to die before soon one day waking up in the new United Socialist Soviet States of America, to become a refugee again – and go where? Escape to Zimbabwe - or Greece perhaps?

"To put this whole conspiracy in terms of numbers, let me say that the projected world-threatening increase of carbon dioxide of 100 ppm (parts per million) by the end of this century would increase the thermal absorptivity of the atmosphere by one-eighth of one percent; that is the definition of something totally negligible. On the other hand the sun cycles of cooling and heating are thousands of times more powerful with regard to the carbon dioxide in the air; when the sun is cool the oceans absorb many millions of tons of it; and when the sun heats up the oceans release the carbon dioxide in quantities thousands of times bigger than anything that mankind can produce. To illustrate this point in more accessible terms to somebody who is not a climatologist or a scientist or an engineer, the argument of catastrophic anthropogenic (human-caused) global warming issued by our panic driven socialist / marxist government-paid hacks is like saying that a burp by a lonely wolf in Alaska will transform Florida into a Sahara-like desert."

Timely Renewed| 1.25.12 @ 3:16PM

The underlying problem began long before this President and the solution must go deeper than simply replacing this incompetent ideologue. Mr. Obama’s government-heavy programs are only one manifestation of a national government which has expanded far beyond its original constitutional bounds. We can only hope to be free of this or future administrations of its ilk when we restore the original limits on the national government which have been stripped away by Supreme Court decisions since 1937. Given how entrenched that Supreme Court jurisprudence is, our only sure method of accomplishing such a restoration will be constitutional amendments restating and reinforcing those original constitutional limits. See http://www.timelyrenewed.com.

Pat| 1.25.12 @ 3:26PM

When it comes down to “What a whopper!” time, Obama is perhaps our greatest B.S. artist and State of the Union spin-meister ever to occupy the White House. Portions of his speech bring to mind the outrageous lies told by other famous leaders from the past: For instance, Josef Stalin, one of history’s greatest mass murderers and the undisputed dictator of an atheist state, once proclaimed: “I believe in God, in my own way”. Stalin told that whopper to gain the emotional support and sympathy of the Russian people when the Germans were trouncing the Red Army during WWII. Obama is no Stalin but his speech was pure politics, not a well-reasoned vision for future government actions . And suddenly he sounds like he is to the right of Barry Goldwater’s brand of conservative politics.

Cutting government regulations – one of the great Regulators in American history is promising us less regulation? Right, that’s going to happen. And when his various jock sniffers within the mainstream media such as the Washington Post, USA Today and Salon can offer up only lukewarm praise following the State of the Union comedy hour, the question is what was Obama trying to accomplish with his various “I’m trying to fix the economy” whoppers?

Even Obama’s personal food taster, MSNBC, is left wondering in what ways has Obama “helped” the economy these past few years. But then again Obama isn’t running on his track record, he’s running on his manufactured persona as compassionate champion of the downtrodden. Independent and swing voters - are you folks hearing this message? And, like Josef Stalin, it doesn’t hurt to tell a few outrageous whoppers when the chips are down. So, as the election draws closer, expect Obama to say: “I believe in small government and hard work, not handouts”. And somewhere in Hell, the ghost of Josef Stalin will be nodding and smiling.

The one and only reason why impeachment charges are not brought against him is because he's the first African-American president, and to do so would result in the collective hue and cry from liberals of racism, gentrification, discrimination, disenfranchisement etc. November cannot get here fast enough for some of us!!!!!

Re: Community colleges can become "community career centers" that tutor Americans in new skills, he said. Obama also revealed his high hopes for wind farms and other forms of "clean energy."

Democrat presidents are good at "training." Clinton especially excelled at training proletariats to be sandwich makers, at excessive taxpayer expense.

And now Obama is proposing to use community colleges to train people to ... ? Drive transit buses in phantom congressional districts? Occupy Wall Street? Blog for Moveon.org? All at great taxpayer expense, no doubt. Sorry, you sucker taxpayers!

With tutors sent by Obama, who needs public schools to drag them downwardly immobile?

Good article.

Angry Vet| 1.25.12 @ 5:36PM

Somebody probably posted same above, but I don't have time to read through 178 posts.

Obama's opening line told you the (fill in and use the words that come with B.S.) that would follow for 60 minutes.

He talked about how there is only peace, love, harmony and teamwork in the U.S. military. How no one is "in it for themselves."

Saaayyy Whhaaaaatt?

Obamo's rose tinted view of life and all things military is Pure Malarkey (that's puttin' it nicely)

Take it from someone who spent over 24 years in every aspect of our military. There are about 25% decent guys who you can work with. 20% who blow with the wind on every given day. 10% that are complete derelicts. 10% that are criminals. 15% are "yes" men who will do whatever it takes for their ad
vancement. And a firm 5% that will knife you in the back even over a stale cracker or empty cot.

Another 5% who won't lift a finger until they're pure positive they'll get lots of credit and kudos for doing something.

Teamwork? Oh puhlllleeze.

The military ain't no better than any other outfit, any other walk of life.

That SOTU speech? That was horrid oral presentation. Any vet with honesty and over 15 yrs. can tell you how dog-eat-dog our military is.

There are indeed lots of guys crawlin' over their grandma's grave to gain advantage or a nose ahead for that next plum assignment or promotion.

[It's like BO was doin' some sort of 15 cent U.S. Military Recruiter's pitch from up there on the pulpit in front of the nation.]

Cheap comparison; real deceit & lies.

The opening lines were cow dung. It didn't change for the next 59 min.

sick to my stomach| 1.25.12 @ 5:52PM

The article's author wrote:

"Sensing that he (Obama) needed to offer a few words in support of leaner government, he quoted a line from Abraham Lincoln to the effect that government should only perform those tasks beyond the power of the people. Never mind that most of the proposals in the speech were a violation of this principle."

YES. Exactly.

This, my dear friends, is the test of the nation. The incongruence between Obama's use of an Abraham Lincoln phrase and his practices and statements is OBVIOUS.

Now does the nation see this? Do you? Well, then talk it up at work tomorrow, on the commute, at lunch, everywhere you go.

DorkOBamO stands up their and quotes Lincoln after 50 minutes of telling us just exactly how Big Government will get bigger and stick it to you even more.

Where's a truth teller in the media who will play that SOTU Address quotation over and over and over while listing every time BO has violated this?

Good article and summary, Mr. Neumayr.

Fredx| 1.25.12 @ 6:35PM

One more thing: For any wealthy person to comment on his wealth to people who are less fortunate is boorish. For a president of the United States to do it, and Obama does this frequently, as he did in last night's SOTU, is beyond boorish. It is positively Jeffersonian; something George Jefferson would have done.
