The Obama Watch

Will President Obama Fool America Again?

We'd all be better off if he were trying to fool Sheikh Qaradawi instead.

To paraphrase Pete Townshend of The Who, "Meet the new year; same as the old year."

That was my reaction to Andy McCarthy's New Year's Eve article at National Review Online about President Obama recruiting Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi to mediate secret peace talks between the United States and the Taliban. As McCarthy notes Qaradawi issued a fatwa exhorting Muslims to kill U.S. troops in Iraq.

For President Obama to ask Qaradawi to act in America's interests in Afghanistan would be like asking Hell's Angels to provide security at a White House concert; asking Michael Vick to take Bo out for a walk or asking Jerry Sandusky to babysit your prepubescent children.

But even if Obama hadn't sought out Qaradawi that still leaves the secret negotiations with the Taliban. The idea that our armed forces spent more than ten years fighting the Taliban in Afghanistan only for President Obama to legitimize and leave with them in power in the vain hope that they, like the Muslim Brotherhood, will become a largely secular organization, is an insult to our troops' duty, heroism, and sacrifice. It would be like our forces leaving Japan with Tojo still in power after bombing Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Then again, it was President Obama who wanted to apologize to Japan for Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 2009. Fortunately, the Japanese government had the good sense to put the kibosh on such impropriety and imprudence.

Suffice it to say, I am not surprised that President Obama sees fit to negotiate with the Taliban or that he thought it a good idea to ask Sheikh Qaradawi to intercede. After all, this is the President who was prepared to engage Iran, North Korea, and Venezuela without precondition. This is the President whose administration saw fit to give guns to Mexican drug cartels. This is the President who thought it sensible to give in excess of half a billion dollars to the sinkhole known as Solyndra to manufacture overpriced solar panels no one wanted to buy. This is also the President who has accumulated more debt in less than three years in office than all his predecessors accumulated in 220 years.

And yet in ten months time, Americans might very well see fit to bestow Obama with another four years in office. Although Obama's Gallup numbers are lower than those of Jimmy Carter at this stage of his Presidency, the White House's current resident has some things going for him. As Charles Lane of the Washington Post notes:

On the plus side for Obama, majorities continue to like him personally and to describe him as honest and trustworthy. His foreign-policy ratings are strong, blunting the GOP's traditional edge in that department. The man who presided over the demise of Osama bin Laden scored a phenomenal 63 percent approval rating on fighting terrorism in an early November Gallup poll.

I would add to that a billion dollar war chest and a media that despite its disappointment with him is still largely sympathetic to his agenda. Put together these assets are considerable and may prove to be insurmountable for any Republican challenger to overcome. At this point, Mitt Romney is considered the odds on favorite to win the GOP nomination despite the fact a critical mass of the conservative movement is at odds with him both personally and substantively. Yet with one Republican challenger after the other rising and falling while Romney stays steady, GOP activists might very well settle for the former Massachusetts Governor. But even if Republicans settle for Romney that doesn't mean the rest of the country will be prepared to do the same.

Then again what if Ron Paul decides to run as a third party candidate should he fail to win the Republican nomination? Nothing would delight the Obama campaign more because not only would Paul's presence help Obama in November it would make Obama look like Abraham Lincoln.

Of course it was Lincoln who famously said, "You can fool some of the people all the time, and all of the people some of time, but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time." Yet President Obama doesn't need to fool all of the people to get re-elected. Whatever the sheer stupidity of negotiating with the Taliban, allowing Sheikh Qaradawi to mediate the negotiations, allowing weapons to get into the hands of Mexican drug cartels or accumulating record levels of debt, there will be a segment of the population that will not know or will not care about such details. They will only remember that Obama gave the order to kill Osama bin Laden even if Team Six did the heavy lifting. Even though bin Laden's killing doesn't end the threat of Islamic radical terrorism against the United States; for an American public weary of war, it might be just enough to get Obama over the finish line.

The big question facing America in 2012 is whether President Obama will be able to fool us again?

Demonising Islam a decade on wont cut the mustard.

Harry the Horrible| 1.4.12 @ 11:45AM

Why? From viewpoint, its pretty demonic.

Bob Grant| 1.4.12 @ 1:47PM

Brooks,

I've been racking my brain attempting to think of something positive about islam. I can only come up with that when praying, they kneel on nice rugs. One of those rugs would look pretty cool in my living room. Eh, some of those mosques are nice to look at.

Tiddly| 1.4.12 @ 2:16PM

The mosques are copies of Christian churches, usually St. Sophia in Constantinople.

Skippy| 1.4.12 @ 2:48PM

Other than the 0-9 Arabic numerals, virtually everything Islam has is stolen.
It reminds me of the USSR and their claim of inventing the light bulb.

Purp| 1.4.12 @ 4:53PM

You really don't know anything about the Arab people or Islam, do you?

dave williams| 1.4.12 @ 6:23PM

...and those numerals actually came from India. Yep, from Algeria to Pakistan, the people are pretty much desert vermin...always have been, always will be.

Bob Grant| 1.4.12 @ 3:53PM

Well then, I'm sure the F**cks stole the rug technology too, from the Chinese no less.

Sorry Brooks. Not a damn thing nice to say about the mooslams.

Grzmlyk| 1.4.12 @ 3:29PM

What's nice about Islam is that it isn't EVIL Christianity. It represents a primitive, fundamentalist socio-religious culture whose denizens hail from desert hinterlands that sit atop oil that the EVIL west wants to get at by exploiting those self-same noble savages.

In other words, Muslims comprise an ideal victim group that is oppressed by EVIL American values.

That's why liberals love it so much. It's victim porn for them.

Purp| 1.4.12 @ 4:54PM

They are descendants of Abraham, just as are the Jews and the Christians ... that is enough.

irish19| 1.4.12 @ 10:18PM

Actually, I think they are the descendants of Abraham's brother (?) Lot. And they've hated the Jews ever since God picked the Jews over them as the Chosen People.

Purp| 1.4.12 @ 11:21PM

No, they are the descendants of Ishmael, Abraham's son - Muhammad, the founder and prophet of Islam, was descended from Kedar, one of the 12 sons of Ishmael (Ismail in Arabic).
Isaac, was another son of Abraham - Isaac in turn fathered Jacob, also named Israel, the father of the Israelites. Ishmael's and Isaac's descendants are therefore cousins.
It's impossible to understand the present Middle East without a knowledge of the three great religions that emanate from the area—Judaism, Christianity and Islam.

These three faiths all trace their spiritual roots back to the same individual, Abraham. The towering historical figures behind these three religions—Moses, Jesus Christ and Muhammad—were all direct descendants of Abraham.

While some Republicans are fearful of a Ron Paul third party run they might want to think again since his support is primarily among the morally depraved and Muslim appeasing leftists of OWS -- Barack Obama's base.

Time to quit pussy footing around with this leftist and treating him like he's a real Republican or conservative. From his defense of the New Deal, Great Society, Barney Frankism, dope and Muslim Imperialism Paul is Robert Byrd minus the sheet and Barack Obama in white.

If the Reps have any brains it won't be Romney either. When Obama starts parading Romney's record as Mass Gov, people will see there's little difference between the two and the electorate has a habit of giving the office back to the incumbent in those circumstances.

Mrs. Vito| 1.4.12 @ 6:41PM

You said it, bub! When compared to Romneycare, the debacle of Obamacare will be a non-issue. You don't hear this from Karl 'Fat-Neck' Rove, or Ann 'Someone-Tape-My-Mouth' Coulter, who can't wait to browbeat the GOP voters in their columns if Obama is re-immaculated.

John786| 1.4.12 @ 6:48AM

The Taliban are part of the fabric of afghan society. If America wants to leave in 2014 then negotiating with them makes sense. The Talibs can not by definition be destroyed.

Skippy| 1.4.12 @ 2:52PM

Where is Curtis LeMay when we need him?

Timothy L. Pennell| 1.4.12 @ 7:32AM

"And, a Media that, despite its' disappointment with him, is still largely sympathetic to his Agenda."

That is the most important sentence in the story. Only to be followed by the 2nd most important sentence, two paragraphs later: "Blah blah blad Taliban, yadda yadda yadda Sheik 911, Allowing WEAPONS to get in to the hands of Mexican Drug Cartels.

The 2nd one IS his Agenda, and the 1st is why he's getting away with it.

Why would anyone be "surprised" that Hamas' "DELIVERER" - Abu Hussain - would negotiate with a Spawn of Satan? People like to congregate with others, that are just like them. After all...They're both working to the same ends: The Destruction of Israel, and America. Their MEANS may be dissimilar, but their ENDS are the same. One need only look at IRAQ, to see what lies ahead. Everybody knew it would go Rogue, if we left too soon. All of his Military Commanders told him that now, was not the time. But, he did it, anyway. And, almost immediately, the Islamists returned with their Bombs, and their Cruelty, like it was a scene from "The Earth Without People". (Or, whatever that show's called) The Carnage returned. What had been WON, with Blood and Treasure, was given away, without so much as an afterthought, in the name of Re-Election. And the Media HAILED him!

We have the lowest Consumer Confidence in 30 Years. We have had our Credit Rating downgraded, for the 1st time in our Nation's History. We are in the 34 straight Month of Unemployment above 8%. (REAL Unemployment is probably around 11%. You know. If you actually COUNT everyone who's unemployed. If they stop looking because there's nothing out there, they're still unemployed. Duh.)

Federal Spending, the Budget Deficit, and our National Debt, are all at the highest level as a percentage of GDP since WWII. He has Worst Jobs Record of any modern President. The Worst Housing Crisis since the Great Depression. A Misery Index at a 28 year high. 46 Million Americans now living in Poverty. (The most on record since the Census began tracking Poverty in 1959) The U.S. Poverty Rate is 1 in 6 Americans. We have a Record Number of Americans on Food Stamps. The Rate of Economic Growth is only slightly higher than the 1930's. He implores us to participate in "SHARED SACRAFICE" as he, and his Quenn, take seperate Jumbo Jets on another 7,000 Mile, $4 MILLION Vacation, to the Sandy Beaches of Hawaii, where they can lie in the Sun, and listen to the waves, as they crash on the beach, before going inside for the Best Dinner in the World.
AND, he thinks there's over 57 States.

And the Media HAIL him. Which leads us to who he really is. What his Agenda is. And what he is Capable, of.

In April of 2009, Hitler/Stalin/Mao/Obama held a Press Conference, in Mexico, with the Mexican President. When asked about all of the Gun Violence, South of our Border, he replied: "You've gotta remember. A lot of the Guns, being used down here, to committ all these Murders, came from the United States. They were BOUGHT on our side of the border, and carried across, in to Mexico, where they END UP in the hands of Criminals." (I'm paraphrasing) Look it up!

He stood there, and as cold as ice, lied through his teeth. He knew that it was HIM, that was Buying these Weapons. HIM, that was walking them across the Border. HIM, that was making sure that they got in to the hands of the Drug Cartels. And, for what? So he could push for more GUN CONTROL, for Long Guns.

He put the most Powerful Guns he could find, in to the hands of the people that would do the MAXIMUM DAMAGE with them (Hundreds of Dead innocent men, Women, and Children) so he could Score Points, with his Political Base.

Did the Media Hail him? No. With the exception of CBS, this never happened. The President of the United States, and his Attornet General, are covered in the Blood of everyone who has been MURDERED by their little Plan, and nobody in the Media GIVES A SH*T?!

"And, a Media that, despite its' disappointment with him, is still largely sympathetic to his Agenda."

If he can do that, with Impunity? He can do whatever he wants. We're thisclose to the knock on the door, in the middle of the night, never to be seen again.

"ARBEIT MACHT FREI"

You think that could never happen?

"And, a Media that, despite its' disappointment with him, is still largely sympathetic to his Agenda."

Think again.

Timothy L. Pennell| 1.4.12 @ 10:22AM

That's it? That's you're comeback?

You want us to GET USED to THAT? To all of the things that I've outlined, up there? That's a possibility. When it gets to be ARBEIT MACHT FREI time, we may have to "Get Used To It".

The great Economist: Walter E. Williams, when confronted with a similar statement, about High Unemployment, and High Interest Rates and Taxes, replied that : "Yeah. We could get used to it. People can get used to just about anything, if they have to. You can get USED TO hanging from a Tree, with a noose around your neck. The question is: WHY would you want to?"

Tell us, Alan. Why would you want to GET USED to what he's doing? To what he's done?

And, think about it, this time.

Paragraph 4 - Just as we gave Japan back and Germany back, and Granada back, and Panama back and Korea back ... what is your point? We should take over the world? Once we knew we made a mistake going to war in Iraq, should we have stayed - it's not our country you know?
Paragraph 5 - "We have the lowest Consumer Confidence in 30 Years. " - well, no, it has increased 5 points in the last month. And, unemployment has dropped from a high over 9.2% (lower than the 10.8 % for Reagan) to 8.6%
now, trending in the right direction, I might add.
Paragraph 6 - True, the economy was in free fall in 2008 and he's stopped the fall, reversed the course - but it cost money to do that. 10.7 Trillion of the debt was charged by Reagan, and papa and baby bush combined. The rest is a direct result of the failed policies under Bush that we are reaping the rewards of now - Obama has succeeded in ameliorating the effects, although it will take another 4 years to emerge stronger from this mess Dubya left us. Vacation is his to take, no comment on that. See Koch Bros vacations for enjoyment.
Paragraph 7 - The media is run by corporate America - what's your point? Who else should they hail?
Paragraph 8 - So he told the truth - the weapons DID come from the US. And?
Paragraph 9 - ditto
Paragraph 10 - to the end .. many said the same of GW Bush "Sieg Heil" for dramatic effect. I am disappointed Obama hasn't reversed some of GW's more egregious policies on civil liberties vi0lations.
Anyway, your undying admiration for President Obama is appreciated and clear to see. Thank you for supporting him so well.

George True| 1.4.12 @ 10:14PM

Purpleguy, you are severely delusional, which is a form of mental illness. You twist known facts inside out to make them fit your alternate reality.

Real unemployment is around 17%. We all know the government deliberately undercounts and under reports the actual numbers for political purposes.

Obama did not "stop" the alleged "freefall" of the economy. The markets would have corrected themselves without government intervention, and in a much more healthy way for everyone. Instead, Obama used it as a excuse to plunder the treasury and the taxpayers to the tune of multiple trillions of dollars.

Yes, the weapons DID come from America because Obama and Holder MADE IT HAPPEN. What part of that does your delusional waste of a mind not understand?

All of us, including YOU Purp, will pay and pay and pay and pay for the unprecedented level of theft committed by Obama/Pelosi/Reid and Obama's criminal appointees. Your life savings will lose somewhere between one third and two thirds of its value. The currency you are paid in will buy somewhere between one third and two thirds of the goods and services that it buys now.

They put Bernie Madoff away for something like 150 years for stealing several billion of investors funds. How long of a sentence should Obama get for plundering literally trillions of dollars from all of us?

If you do not see these things you are being willfully blind. In other words delusional. In other words mentally ill.

Purp| 1.4.12 @ 11:12PM

You really need some help if you think I twist known facts... you're living in an alternate reality, Sir.
Of course, you couldn't care less about the pain and suffering people that lost their jobs or houses experienced ... left to the free market, of which there is not one, you're on your own people. When Obama entered office, 780,000 jobs were being lost per MONTH. Within a few months in 2009, the losses stopped and were reversed into positive private sector jobs. THAT is a fact you can go look up. If you believe anything else - it's you that are in denial.
I agreed and so did the president where the weapons came from - and your point is?
Sorry, but your ranting and raving about fiscal soundness rings hollow - We've been on this fiscal disaster ride since Reagan started the largest deficits in history. Where have you been? We've been paying for his mistakes since then. Remember ol' Ronnie said "Deficits don't matter" and he and the Bushes racked up 10.7 Trillion of the National Debt. Clinton added a Trillion of his own, but by far, your Republican Boys take the cake - oh but NOW while we're dealing with Great Depression II - NOW you're concerned. Could it be because a Democrat, a Black Man is in the White House - Hmmmm? I'll await your answer on why NOW you are concerned.
Madoff put it in his own pocket - Obama put it in all our pockets collectively - do you not discern the difference?
And you call me delusional, blind, and mentally ill? LMAO.

TrueBlue| 1.5.12 @ 2:32PM

To be fair we got out of Iraq because their government didn't want to negotiate a Status of Forces Agreement with us. Obama doesn't get credit for that either way.

Michael Tomlinson| 1.4.12 @ 7:37AM

Demonizing Muslims isn't hard when so many mosques in the US preach violence, hate and in one form or fashion Islamic imperialism. Burying our heads in the sand to the nature of this evil and abetting it like Carter, Clinton, Obama and Paul is the worst thing we can do -- not only for the US, but forms of less radical Islam.

As for the Taliban (students) being part of the "fabric of Afghan society" what a load of crap. The Taliban is a mid-1990's creation of Mullah Omar and the Pakistani intelligence system. The US and NATO are as much a part of the “fabric of Afghan society” as the Taliban.

The best thing that could happen for Afghanistan is the election of a Republican President who realizes these brutal and savage fanatics have no place in the civilized world.

The Muslim terrorists have fired thousands of rockets and mortars at Israel, killing Jewish civilians, over the past few years. The Palestinian Authority and Hamas are joined at the hip, and backed by the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt. The MB in turn is engaged in subversive activities in the U.S. via mosques, campus groups, and fake charities. The goal of the MB is to destroy Western civilization from within. About a year ago the director of the FBI said that the MB supports terrorism.

Yet, we watch as Obama attacks Israel, demanding that it give up land to the terrorists. This is consistent with his putting pressure on Mubarak, helping the Muslim Brotherhood gain power in Egypt. It is also consistent with his use of American military forces to oust Gaddafi, who has been replaced by a more sharia-compliant, strictly Islamic government in Libya. Meanwhile, the Obama administration is attempting to negotiate with the Taliban (allies of al Qaeda) in Afghanistan, and refuses to acknowledge that the enemy, those who have killed thousands of American civilians and soldiers, and want to kill more of us, are Muslims. Negotiating with the Taliban, or with the Muslim Brotherhood, or with Hamas or Al Qaeda, is like negotiating with Hitler.

The problem is not "just" terrorists, or "just" Islamic extremists, or "just" insurgents and militants. The problem is Islam, a 7th century totalitarian political ideology which precludes religious freedom, seeks to destroy all individual rights included in our Bill of Rights, and is hell-bent on destroying Israel, the United States, and "Infidels" around the world.

In the four months from September 1, 2011 to December 31, 2011, Muslim terrorists killed more than 2,500 people and wounded another 4,700, making a total of at least 7,200 victims. See www.thereligionofpeace.com for the horrific, bloody details, which the media doesn't' report.

FBI director says Muslim Brotherhood supports terrorism:

Intelligent Design| 1.4.12 @ 8:20AM

Obama and his kind seek to whitewash the Muslim Brotherhood. Well, here is a quote from the Muslim Brotherhood Strategic Memorandum on North American Affairs: "The Ikhwan (the Muslim Brotherhood) must understand that their work in America is a kind of grand Jihad in eliminating and destroying Western civilization from within and sabotaging its miserable house by their hands and the hands of believers so that it is eliminated and Allah's religion is made victorious over all other religions."

Nothing could be more hostile to religious freedom, secular law, our Constitution, including the Bill of Rights, and freedom everywhere.

Purp| 1.4.12 @ 5:18PM

Oh, give it a rest - Like Christianity never promulgated violence in the name of the Church. Did you forget the Crusades? The fact we won, they didn't, means we could forget and forgive. They could not. Case in point - the South is still fighting the Civil War in many ways - "D* Yankee, go home" is still heard, even though the North won and could forgive and forget. It's harder for the loser to give it up. It's understandable.
On top of that here comes Israel, where by Arab standards, land is stolen from them and given to Israel. That is not to say Israel does not deserve their own state, of course, but it's a slap in the face to the Arabs that practice Islam. After all this time, I'd expect they could give it up, but they haven't, so there it is.
Terrorists are terrorists are terrorists. It doesn't matter where, what religion, what nationality. They all need to be killed that prey on innocent people to make a point or a stand, period. Nothing else will stop them - but you don't have to invade countries to do it. THAT was Bush's mistake - but he needed the publicity to look strong and powerful. Covert activities you can't brag "Mission Accomplished".

irish19| 1.4.12 @ 10:30PM

"but you don't have to invade countries to do it"
Not entirely true. To paraphrase, IIRC, an English general, "In the end, you still have to have one little bastard with a gun and a bayonet winkle the other little bastard out of his hole and get him to sign the peace treaty."

Purp| 1.4.12 @ 11:02PM

It is disheartening when so many people would vote for the devil himself if the D is behind his name. The media and education system lead my list as the two biggest culprits. Schools have failed to educate on our basic fundamentals as a nation while espousing the Socialist/Marxist agenda they embrace. The same is true with the media. One needs to refresh their memory by reading "The Ruling Class" and google the Frankfort Institute to understand why we have ended up at this place.

The fools in the media believe they will be treasured under the socialist regimes of the future. They fail to realize they are only pawns, and useful idiots at best.

This is the last stop. Four more years of Obama will effectivly end freedom as we once knew it. The progressives have been working this game for over 100 years and are beginning to achieve their goals. They won't go quietly into the night.

David W| 1.4.12 @ 8:44AM

Two factors in Obama's potential win:
- He's half black (this protects him from any policy attacks by white Republicans)
- Has the full support of the MSM (this hides or whitewashes any and all of his screwups).

Obama is liked precisely because of the support by the media. They work extra hard to hide anything negative about him (background, behavior, etc.). If what I read between the lines is true Obama is an arrogant jerk and not that likeable (and why on earth does his wife have to leave "early" on their vacations? she can't wait just a few hours? That tells me something).

Unless the GOP can break this lock on the media and get down as dirty with Obama (and believe me, he and his minions will be getting really dirty) we will have 4 more years of decline.

At this point it makes one wonder about his foreign policy, other than killing Osama he has done nothing, nada, to make the world more stable. He has done nothing, nada, to make the USA more vibrant, better, economically. I will vote for any Republican come next Nov., rather than vote for him.

the combined myth of his supposed popularity desdpite his failed leadership and the idea he will raise a billion dollars to buy his re-election is the lame stream media failed attempts to get their crteation in the oval office.

The messiah has admitted he will not raise the purported billion and the idea that despite his failed presidency people like him personally is another shamn

The idea that millions have lost their jobs, lost hours or taken cuts in pay or have lost their homes or their equity and still see "the one" as the person to lead America to renewed prosperity will be proven to be as comical as when the messiah claimed he would lower the tides

We will be voting for the future of America and the idea that someone who has more interest in enjoying the perks of office and has done little more then lecture us about our failings hardly describes someone so popular the country will overlook his out of control spending and his constant cry for higher taxes and even more spending

Michael Tomlinson| 1.4.12 @ 9:49AM

Louis Jenkins good post. He only killed Osama, because Leon Panetta drug him off the golf course and told him it was the politically smart thing to do. Don't forget he and Holder really want to try him in a civilian court in NYC.

Stormy| 1.4.12 @ 10:07AM

Obama still his his secret weapon...the MSM. It was critical in 2008 to forming Obama's image and quashing all of his past history. Will they be successful once again? Obama has a floor of about 40-45% of committed voters. He only has to "fool" about another 6-10%. This is where the battle will be waged by Obama's forces.

George S| 1.4.12 @ 10:44AM

He doesn't have to fool. That's the scary part. There are many who agree with his ideology. Take California: they may very well pull the lever for Obama in November even though we are in the midst of the worst economic time since ever. If 55 electoral votes in these hard times happily go to a person who is openly hostile to the Constitution, to Judeo-Christian values and the founding principles of our country, then we are really hanging by a thin rope. All it takes is for another populous state (Texas) to be inundated with retiring baby-boomer liberals and illegal aliens to emulate California. Then it is all over.

Yes, Obama can win. Not because people are fooled but because they see no problem with a federal government that takes care of them from cradle to grave and look the other way when their neighbors are robbed to support the welfare state.

emo| 1.4.12 @ 9:50PM

Good post. It is high time for conservatives to recognize that upwards of 40% of Americans simply no longer want to be American in the traditional sense of liberty and limited govt. Maybe 5-10% are being fooled by Obama, but the vast majority want what Obama offers and are more than happy to trade their liberty for Obama's "security".

My prediction: Obama wins with 54-43 over the GOP candidate and carries GA, AZ, MO and MT for a total of 399 EVs. In addition the Dems win 40-60 House seats and 1-2 Senate seats. Conservatives from pols to radio hosts simply dont realize that we're in 2012, it isnt 1980 anymore. 50 years of uncontrolled 3rd world immigration and 50 years of NEA indoctrination have come to a head. We are on the cusp of a permanent leftist majority that will rule indefinitely.

emo| 1.4.12 @ 9:52PM

PS:

With their decisive victory, Sen Reid will repeal the filibuster in Jan 2013. Allowing for the passage of:
Amnesty
Card Check
Cap and Trade
45%-50% top marginal tax rate
Public option
$1.5 trillion dollar stimulus plan with emphasis on "green" technology.

Any GOP victories in 2014 and 2016 will be moot.

Cuffs| 1.4.12 @ 11:42AM

No, the big question is how the Democratic
machine will steal the election. The Republicans
do not have a chance against all the union thuggery, black (Acorn) voter fraud and
Georgie Soros. These entities are more
powerful than anyone can imagine.
They will see to it that Obama is re-elected
by hook or by crook. Barry the Tick needs
to have four more years to carry us
across the finish line of the long march
to socialism.

edo| 1.4.12 @ 11:53AM

Obama, fraud, whatever, doesn't matter. The millions of votes by average Americans will overwhelm by sheer numbers. O is history.

emo| 1.4.12 @ 9:53PM

I am fed up of conservatives who blame every loss on fraud but yet cannot come up with any real instances of fraud that determined the outcome of a national election. Face it, I have. The USA is NOT a center right country. It is an increasingly an leftist nation

Oldefarte| 1.4.12 @ 11:55AM

Aaron's excellent editorial completely nails the problem for this country. As Forrest declared about STUPIDITY holds true even more so today. Has this nation learned its lesson from its collective voting STPUIDLY in 2008? Is there still a need to shout WAKE UP AMERICA? The issue is not Santorum, Romney, Ginguich, Paul [maybe, if he ends up running a third party movement to dilute Republican strength]; but rather Obama and Democrats!!!!!!!!!

cicero| 1.4.12 @ 2:32PM

First off, us white guys in the real world got over the racist tag a long time ago. It is a non-issue, except to the liberal elitist group who still thinks that ethnic studies are a real intellectual pursuet. Bring on the battle of ideas. This time they will have an impact, because even the young, college educated are seeing how economics makes things work.
Ron Paul will not run as a third party candidate. Why not? Because Rand Paul would have him committed as being a danger to himself and others, to say nothing of wrecking his son's political career.
If the Republicans will just run their primaries discussing who will be the most apt to defeat the Dems in November, and state why their IDEAS on leading this country in a given direction are best, the rest will be a cake walk. If they keep acting like 4 year olds in a small sand box, we, the people, are in big trouble.

Bob Miller| 1.4.12 @ 2:35PM

It takes two, the politicians to agree to lie and the people to agree to be lied to.

bill| 1.4.12 @ 2:59PM

Obama can no longer fool us because we know about all his tricks.

Mistral| 1.4.12 @ 3:15PM

Yes, judging by surveys completed before the last presidential election Americans are very poorly misinformed and politically naive which should be a good augury for Obama this time. Are Americans any better informed this time round? We will soon find out.

Purp| 1.4.12 @ 5:53PM

" Will President Obama Fool America Again?" - he already has - no one with a chance of beating him wanted to run for president on the republican ticket. No Christie, no Daniels, no Jeb Bush, etc. ... they knew better, Obama will win, and they know it. So, he's already won. The election is just an expensive formality ...

Mrs. Vito| 1.4.12 @ 6:36PM

Mr. G: I respectfully submit that you cease from speculating that Romney is the 'odds-on favorite' to win the GOP nomination. This is absurd! The doubt of his electability is beginning, for many reasons, but here are a couple:
1) If Romney's such a shoo-in for New Hampshire, why does he need McCain's endorsement before the primary has even started?
2)Why can't he get past the mid-20% from polls/voters?
Sorry, but if you media types are going to insist that Romney is the inevitable candidate, please be prepared to get the ire from readers/voters like me who think otherwise. The vetting process has just begun.

Deborah Young| 1.5.12 @ 7:57PM

This imposter in the White House has to go before he hurts this country even further! Why can't people see what he's doing?

Mulah Obama thinks he is the 12th Imam; well, he said the following: "Tomorrow the oceans will stop rising, and the planet will start healing" - addressing the globaloney warming hoax. This marxist Muslim from Kenya and his cohort of komissars (White House czars) are rapidly communizing America.

Tenn Slim| 1.8.12 @ 8:40AM

Spot On.
We now longer can cry "we did not know, hear or understand". Obamas Osawhtomi speech clearly laid out his position. His actions since are cementing the reality of his agenda.
Like the 1930's of Germany, we continue to listen to Wagner/Reality TV, party hearty, and when the ultimate reality hits, we have our excuse. "We did not know, or "care".
We are reaping exactly what we have sown.

As I have written here many times, we are reaping what we have sown. The fields are filled with weeds, bare spots of no work, no weed pullers, no harvesting.
Our country is beset with disaster after disaster recovery. The DC Leftists leave us to our own devices after each set of historical severe wx.
The Pols continue to wrestle in the mud over near the creek or the trough of money. GOP wannabes contend for mediocraty and the dedicated OWS grunts continue to plow the re plowed and re burnt off land.
Our USA continues to muck in reality TV, to ignore the obvious, to pretend that all will be ok, somehow.
We watch the European Nationals riot and burn their bldgs, pretending that is just another TV show.
2012 December 21 was predicted by multiple seers, long ago and recently as well, to portend a massive change, socially, culturely, fiscally, and physically. The Hand that Writes has written.
