How being nice to this president will re-elect him.
With apologies to the wonderful wives of America, I must begin by chuckling at this old joke.
Ominous knocking brings Mister Jones to the front door. There stand two policemen with guns holstered but faces drawn. “Sir, may we see a photograph of your wife, please?”
After they look it over, they nod to each other and then turn to bring Mister Jones some dread tidings. “Sir, it looks like your wife has been run over by a truck!”
“Oh, I know that,” Mister Jones replies with a laugh. “But she makes up for it with a great sense of humor!”
One thing you have to give credit to this bunch in the White House for is they are always good for a laugh. There is not much governin’ goin’ on out there, but they sure are entertainin’. Bills pass more in Buffalo than in Washington, yet the D.C. squad excels at the punt and the fumble. They wanted to create money for a Jobs Bill by making a tax to bill Jobs, then Jobs and the Bill both died. All terribly amusing.
The paradox is that this cluelessness makes President Obama more likely to be reelected. The perception that he no longer makes much of a real difference other than as a symbol could work in his favor. Since the Republicans do not have a dynamo to field against him, their main chance to win comes when people are very scared of the mischief Obama can do when manning the helm.
As long as the electorate fears new Obamacare monsters lumbering through downtown, and new Cairo Speeches boosting Iran and sinking Israel, it will bequeath his job to whoever the GOP offers in his place. Once he seems to be a declawed tabby, and they begin to chortle at his latest monkeyshine, the urge to replace him will not be strong enough to carry the day.
It is a fact of national politics, no less than school politics, that one cannot demonize a dolt. If a politician is a bomb, he can be defused; if he is a dud he just might be ignored. Allowing him to flounder around in palpable irrelevancy, speaking in forked tongues at revival meetings of the faithful, could produce the perverse effect of his flying back into the Oval Office below the radar.
Those who believe he needs a good whuppin’ have to first make him smart. What a genius the man is! He has such command of the issues! And he issues such commands! And what drive he has, what clubs, what approaches… and that is just his golf game!
Republican candidates have gone easy on Obama in the debates. They have taken the high road because they are afraid of the fast lane. They do not want to put the President down because they think the public won’t put up with them if they do. Fine, I say: build him up! Make him Mephistopheles instead of Miss Malaprop. Make him Doctor Faust instead of Foster Brooks. Make him Machiavelli instead of Mickey Mouse.
If he looks like a pencil-necked geek, he might get to stay on Pennsylvania Avenue. But if he is big enough and bad enough and wolfish enough, if he looks like he is huffing and puffing to blow the House down, maybe his fairy tale success story will finally have a happy ending.
My only comfort is that other classic joke about the husband who summons his wife to his deathbed and asks her to sell his coin collection after he dies.
“I know you will want to remarry,” he says. “And I hate to think of some creep getting his hands on my prize pieces.”
“There is no chance of my marrying a creep,” she replies. “I never make the same mistake twice.”

Perhaps that would be true sans the unemployment, foreclosures, debt, and deficits post Bush. 2010 was a forerunner of the 2012 election. This election will be unlike any and the old formulas won't cut it.

I fear that the decision has already been made for us. The actual election is just a mere formality that gives us the illusion that we are a republic with a representative form of government.

Please, I know the article is highly ironic in tone and substance, but even the mere suggestion that O might somehow get reelected rattles the nerves a bit. His reelection wouldn’t just mean that he fooled the people again, but that the people have become very foolish indeed, as in the national IQ has gotten too low. The way this administration operates one would think that these people already believe it has.

Come on, Spiral, you can't be serious. While incumbency is pretty powerful and looms rather large in thinking of some people there aren’t enough of the starry-eyed left to give Obama four more. I could be wrong, but I have the same sense about the electorate now as I had in the months prior to the Midterms.

Tell me something he's done right. ANYTHING!
Now, tell me what he's done wrong.
Simple, right? Of course it is, IF you're willing to do, what needs to be done.
Our Nominee needs to be FEARLESS. Our Nominee must be prepared to GO AFTER Der Fuhrer, with Both Barrels. The Country needs to be REMINDED of all the Golf Outings, and Parties at the White House, while the people in the Gulf, watched their livelihoods disappear, underneath a sheen of Oil. They need to be REMINDED of all the Vacations. The Jaunts to Ireland, and to England, to drink Beer and $1000 Wine, in a Toast to Shared Sacrifice.
They need to be REMINDED of the illegal Drilling Moratoriums, and the Jobs they destroyed. REMINDED of the attacks against the Coal Industry, and the Natural Gas Industry, and the Canadian Pipeline Deal, and the Hundreds of Thousands of Jobs, that have been ABORTED.
They need to be REMINDED of his associations with Frank Marshall Davis and Jeremiah Wright and Louis Farrakhan and Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn and Khalid Rashidi and the Black Panthers.
They need to be INFORMED of his complicity in the Deaths of Hundreds, if not Thousands, of Mexicans, killed by the Weapons that HE bought, and HE had taken over the Border and given to the Dug Cartels, so that HE could use their murders, to push for more Gun Control.
Only Herman Cain, can do all that. None of the others will DARE to do these things. They're too afraid of the "R" Word. And, if they're afraid of THAT? What else are they afraid of?
I'm just saying.

It's getting easier and easier for voting to be manipulated, as we go more and more electronic, or states convert to mail-in ballots only. Washington state already has a problem with people who have been dead for several years still voting, and they've now gone entirely mail-in. Who is going to ensure the votes are actually counted correctly? The same people that give their chosen candidate votes from the grave, that's who...

I'm afraid you are right...BUT, let us also not overlook the very strong possibility that the Tea Party folks will strengthen their grasp on the House, and maybe even make some inroads on the Senate as well. Four years of utterly divided government -- when the two parties are too busy fighting each other to enact any more useless legislation (but I repeat myself)? Works for me!

This is precisely why Jennifer Granholm was elected to a second term in Michigan. She appeared to be a harmless dolt who could do no further harm to an economic corpse, the State of Michigan. The findings of the autsopy resulted in the election of Rick Snyder.

Begging, destruction, blaming and violence are among the vile impacts of a vile leadership.
The illiterate and the ill-informed continue to grow under the lure of handouts and entitlements, provided by the current government disguised as welfare and hope.
There is no substitute for "Good education" and a desire to create and construct.
Political leadership and the current government model have failed spectacularly and convincingly.

How could you possibly have watched while Bush took a prosperous economy and delivered it to Obama on the brink of total meltdown, and then have the nerve to complain about Obama? Fortunately, the Republican field of candidates is so pitiful that, even with the far right distortions of the truth about the facts, Obama will be reelected and have four more years to continue to move this nation in the right direction. Or that "Mittens" Romney can flip flop once more-- back from his current far right act-- and miraculously become a moderate again, in a lame attempt to appeal to the mass electorate-- if he wins the nomination? And by the way, the inside scoop is that Obama is going to make Hillary the VP and Biden Secretary of State. If this happens, the election will be over before the campaigning starts. Either way, get ready for four more Obama years. Oh, and four more years of President Clinton--the first female president-- after that. Obama 2012, Hillary 2016. Has a nice ring to it.
