Campaign Crawlers

Obama’s Marching Shoes

He is stumbling in them on the campaign trail.

Sensitive to the criticism from some black leaders that he is not “black enough,” Barack Obama attempted the thunderous, rolling rhetorical style of Jesse Jackson at a dinner for the Congressional Black Caucus last weekend. This just got him into more trouble with black leaders. “Take off your bedroom slippers, put on your marching shoes,” Obama practically yelled at the crowd. “Shake it off. Stop complainin’, stop grumblin’, stop cryin’,” he said before slapping the lectern and striding angrily across the stage.

Black leaders weren’t in the mood for a challenging sermon. Congresswoman Maxine Waters, among others, called Obama’s remarks “curious,” observed that he would never speak to the gay lobby that way, and professed perplexity at his “bedroom slippers” reference.

Always the class warrior, Obama sees plutocrats in bedroom slippers everywhere. It is ironic that his words keep tripping him up. His advertised strength, oratory, has become one of his biggest weaknesses. Even liberal Europeans, once awed by his pre-presidency speech in Berlin, now find his rhetoric tiresome. “Obama’s lecture on the euro crisis… is overbearing, arrogant and absurd,” ran an editorial in the German newspaper Bild. The president’s scolding is a pathetic attempt to distract attention from his own failures. How embarrassing.”

Evidently Obama has not won back for America the “respect of the world.” His ruinous economic policies have, however, increased the respect businessmen feel toward some parts of the world. It is becoming a recurring theme among some CEOs that it is easier to do business in Communist China than in Obama’s America. Las Vegas businessman Steve Wynn said as much several months back, and now this week Coke CEO Muhtar Kent weighs in along similar lines: “In the West, we’re forgetting what really worked 20 years ago. In China and other markets around the world, you see the kind of attention to detail about how business works and how business creates employment.”

Yet Obama just shrugs America’s anti-business climate off and returns to his socialist themes and trivial, self-serving politics. He continues to encourage the myth that opposition to him is based not on his policies but on his person. While he tells the Congressional Black Caucus to stop whining, he reserves that right for himself. He likes to remind audiences of his victim status by saying that he won election as “Barack Hussein Obama.”

Now creeping into his hackish remarks on the DNC fundraising trail is the notion that his “values” are superior to his opponents. Unable to run on a good economy, he has to come up with a new criterion for evaluating his presidency, and he thinks “values” will fit the bill. He even implies that the bad economy is a testament to those superior values. You see, he isn’t about to let Americans get rich off dirty air and polluted rivers and a tax code that benefits “millionaires and billionaires.” He wants it known that his stand against prosperity is principled.

The boos and clapping at GOP debates confirm him in his rectitude. “I mean has anybody been watching the debates lately?” Obama said at a DNC event in San Jose. “You’ve got a governor whose state is on fire denying climate change.… It’s true. You’ve got audiences cheering at the prospect of somebody dying because they don’t have healthcare. And booing a service member in Iraq because they’re gay.”

Guilt by scattered clapping and booing has become an acceptable tactic in American politics, though the loud applause at Democratic events for the “choice” to kill unborn children never seems to get liberals in trouble.

Joe Biden, appearing very solemn, informed cultural arbiter Joy Behar that he considered the booing of the gay solider to be “reprehensible.” Even the socially liberal Megyn Kelly at Fox News, if only out of professional annoyance, disputes this interpretation of the boo, noting that it was directed not at the soldier but at his biased question. This won’t satisfy the Thought Police, as they consider any questioning of gay rights to be evidence of evil.

Obama is at his most sanctimonious when talking about the abolition of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell. He considers that definitive proof of his moral superiority to his opponents. Black groups are right to suspect that he views them more warily than gay groups. Obama prefers the newest and most glamorous causes to the party’s staler ones. As Jesse Jackson said, when he was caught making a crude remark about candidate Obama off camera, Obama is “talking down to black people.”

When our Barry talks down to black people,it must be the influence of the white blood in his veins.

Beau Blotz| 9.29.11 @ 7:00AM

Obama's American heritage is all caucasian. He has no black American roots.

Teaghan| 9.29.11 @ 7:43AM

Absolutely Beau!!! He had no "black experience" only the black and white communist ones. Oh, with a little muslim influence thown in while in Indonesia.

You're conditionally correct, Brooks: The latter is just fine, as long as it's on Barack Hussein Obama's political grave....

rbirner| 10.1.11 @ 8:39PM

Wow Moe, I haven't heard many comments that even refer to Barrack Obama as "bi-racial". Must be sign of a change of opinion from the black community....or just a sign of racism from you.

Darin| 9.29.11 @ 6:36AM

I'd love to see a debate between Obama and Herman Cain with a black audience. Cain has actual experience living and working his way up in such a world. Obama's story is far less compelling, particularly since he's never really earned anything in his life.

Mike D.| 9.29.11 @ 7:48AM

And particulary because nobody KNOWS what his life story is! His life story is what comes out of his teleprompter, how conveinent..

Alice Moore| 9.29.11 @ 9:12AM

Mike D., it is strange that there are no childhood anecdotes from friends or classmates of early school days. There must be some chums or colleagues who went with him to Occidental or Harvard; who has a "I knew Obama when.." story . Were there no students in his Constitutional Law class who have reminisces of Obama? This leads me to believe that he has had an upbringing such as The Truman Show.

Mike D.| 9.29.11 @ 9:18AM

Yep, strange isn't it? The truth on this guy is going to come out in its time. Sooner or later its going to come.

Deborah D | 9.29.11 @ 3:33PM

Hey Alice and Mike D. -- There is a man who writes on the American Thinker website named John Drew who knew Obama when he was a student at Occidental College in CA. There are several articles by him. Here's one about that man Drew: http://www.americanthinker.com.....ink_1.html
And here's one by Drew: http://www.americanthinker.com.....obama.html

Occam's Tool| 9.29.11 @ 8:55PM

I suspect Obama's background will be something like this: (paraphrase from Starship Troopers)

Recruit: " I don't think that SGT. Zim even had a mother!"

Corporal Instructor: "Son, don't you know about Sargeants? They reproduce by fission...like all bacteria."

Goldwaterite| 9.29.11 @ 1:23PM

You share my dream: a face-off between Herman Cain and the Big O. But the higher Mr. Cain rises in the polls, the more he will receive "the Clarence Thomas treatment" from Obama's race-hustling minions. I guarantee it.

Thomas Paine| 10.1.11 @ 7:39PM

Mr ED| 9.29.11 @ 6:52AM

I think what we are seeing is that the more the general public sees and hears of Dear Leader, the more they realize how carefully the MSM has orchestrated his assent to power. The more they realize how much has been hidden from them and how much the MSM has covered his tracks and offered soothing, carefully formulated lies in place of the truth, the more furious they will get. The more Dear Leader insists on waging a racial and class warfare campaign in hid own words that looks nothing like the false image of his MSM protectors, the more damage he will do. The professional Left, including the hard Left MSM, is now reduced to being irrelevant observers to the monster they themselves have created. Who is going to tell Dear Leader, the demigod who made the seas and the temperature fall, to sit down and shut up? Perhaps the first-first black president, Bill Clinton? Maybe it takes a legacy narcissist to get through to another narcissist?

Timothy L. Pennell| 9.29.11 @ 7:00AM

Barak Hussein Obama/Barry Soetoro/Abu Hussain doesn't view the Blacks, in this Country, more "warily" than other groups. He views them for what they are: SUCKERS.
He knows that they're gonna vote for him, no matter what.
He's Black.
He knows that he could BURN DOWN their neighborhood, and they would still line up at the Voting Booth.
He could Piss on their Sunday Dinner, and they'd eat it, like there's no Tomorrow.
One of the first things he did, upon taking Office, was to TAKE AWAY the Private School Vouchers, from the Poor Minority Children in D.C. It seems that, all that GREEN Money, from all those WHITE Teachers Union Officials, was more important, than a buncha dirty, smelly, poor, Black Kids getting a good Education.
So, he took away their OPPORTUNITY at a better life, and sent them back to the same D.C. Public Schools, that he had said: "Do not measure up to MY Daughters Standards."
Who ya think they're gonna vote for?
What's the Black Unemployment Rate? 15%? 17%? 27%?
I know that the Black Youth Unemployment is 46%. Almost HALF.
Who they gonna vote for.
These people put MARION BARRY, back in as Mayor of D.C., just as soon as he got outta jail, for SMOKING CRACK, in a Fleabag Motel, with a HOOKER.
They send John Conyers back to Congress, every two years. What's the situation in HIS District, up there in NO JOBS Michigan?
Charlie Rangel got re-elected. The Chairman of the Committee, in the House, that writes all the Tax Laws, who DOESN'T pay his Taxes.
Down in Florida, they sent Alcee Hastings to Congress. after he was IMPEACHED, and thrown off the Federal Bench, for TAKING BRIBES.
They have been living in the Ghetto, on their Knees, with their Hands Out, for 60 YEARS. Yet, they still vote for the same people, from the same Political Party.
Einstein called that : Insanity. Add to that their "Blacks Only" mentality, and it's MADNESS.
They don't care about the Content of 'The One's' Character. They only care about the Colour of his Skin.
And, he knows it.
So, SIT DOWN, SHUT UP, and DO what you are TOLD.

The Governor from America's most successful state was correct when he encouraged GOP primary voters not to go for the smoothest debater/talker. Now, y'all know I just LOVE when Obama goes all "suthern" in his powerful rhetorical storms. When he talks about Rosa Parks, well, my goodness, y'all just know he was born down . . . well, my goodness, where was he born and raised? Seems like he's been tellin' us an' tellin' us -- Hawaii, wasn't it?

Yet this lil ole suthern gal (who grew up sayin' "y'all") spent about a whole month on that island they call Oahu. I don't remember folks talkin' "suthern" way out there.

'Course Obama went to Columbia and don't nobody remember seein' him in class.

Weird, isn't it?

Palrak| 9.29.11 @ 3:07PM

I lived on Oahu for 14 years, and I never heard anyone talkin' "southern." Lots of pidgin English, and Japanese accents. I also taught at Punahou (BHO's alma mater), and even in the '90s, students were mostly Caucasian and Asian. Funny that none of his classmates have claimed to have known him. He would have stood out in that environment.

You, madame, are the revealed racist. You support an individual because of the color of their skin rather than the content of their character.

BHO has no character, only a radical marxist-trained background, a hollow resume, and the undying support of a group of people like you. You favor a persons race, by simple definition that is racism. Shame, shame.

You kn when you watch Obama go to the mike he looks like one of the stars being called for an Oscar win. And that my friends is the point. He has been playing a role in a live movie and this is a role of a guy whose function is to fulfill his dream and that of his political comrades--to destroy America. He has succeeded. In this regard, I don't think Obama has ever cared about anything else including the Black Community or for that matter ANY community.
I do blame John McCaine and GWB as well as the Establishment Republican Party for an assist in bringing Obama to us. One element that permeates the Establishment Repubs is " work across the Aisle". What Obama and the Rest of the Socialists show us is that there is an abyss--not an aisle to walk across. The Socialists are AntiDemocratic in nature and ( in fact if you hear the talk about suspending Congressional elections by a few ) you really get the truth about this crowd. You must defeat them and that is the only option. The election in 2012 must be seen as a referendum for or against Obama. And in this case there is no compromising there is no middle ground either you are for Freedom or not.

crookedwren| 9.29.11 @ 8:09AM

And "work across the aisle" usually means "in accordance with the Democrat."

There was a time, before so many of the socialists embedded in the party began coming out of the closet, that the Democratic Party SEEMED to be pro-Constitution and pro-the-Republic. Look at Zell Miller. When he got to the Hill, he saw (and must have been so deeply dismayed) the lay of the land. He had to have sniffed out the anti-capitalism and rabid socialist/Marxist tendencies that the Democratic Party now harbors.

Interesting how they've usurped the term "democracy" and "democratic." There's a reason why Ben Franklin told that woman that we'd got a Republic, if we could keep it.

Democracy is just a passing phase between anarchy and oligarchy. Democracies always fail rather quickly.

We are a Republic, though that Republic is hanging by a thread.

Enter Perdue, articulating first what I've been expecting to hear since the day Obama had to retake that oath of office.

Elizabeth Schwartz| 9.29.11 @ 3:25PM

No sweetheart don't get it TWISTED!!! The reason why the Nation is SUFFERING is because the President that was in office prior to him spent 7 of his 8 years in office spending the American people money on a war that his father started (Bush Sr.). A war that had nothing to do with capturing Bin Laden. A war that had nothing to do with weapons of mass destruction. Please tell me who paid for this war that had nothing to do with the attack on America. Well I'll tell you... "The American People". Then ask yourself how many times did the prior president raise the debt ceiling and for what??? To help out the American people... NOOOO! He raised it to fund a war that his father started. What amazes me is that no one raised a brow when a president squanders money on a fake war but let a president try to invest money for the American People and it's a crime. Then ask yourself why the former president had 7 yrs to catch a man that bankrupted America with its attacks but didn't catch him (the current President did). And why the current President not only caught and killed him but has pledged to end the war when it's not his fault that we were in war but people with a cockeyed view of things want to blame him for the war. So get real please? Besides nothing you're discussing is political (so get down off of your soap box)... IT'S ALL RACISM!!! What would MLK think about you? Shame! Shame! Shame! SMH!!!

Anthony| 9.29.11 @ 3:30PM

Oh Elizabeth, how wrong you are!! You should congratulate me for giving Obozo the benefit of the doubt for calling him a Muslim, as opposed to a "Christian" follower of Rev. Wright.
Afterall Elizabeth, similar to Judaism, in the Islamic faith, the child of a Muslim is also deemed a Muslim. In addition to his birth by Obama Sr., Barry Soetoro attended a madras while living in Indonesia.
So where am I wrong here, Elizabeth??? Besides, Islam is the religion of PEACE, George Bush himself told us so!!!
How can you be offended by me calling Obozo a Muslim, as compared to a racist follower of Marxist Black Liberation Theology, as spewed by Rev. Wright???
I'm given Obozo additional credit here, since he claims he didn't hear what Wright said all those 20 years, it must be because Obozo was silently reading the Koran while sitting in the pews of the Church of Hate, run by Rev. Wright.
So, where's the racism, girl?? I don't see any. What would Dr. King think about me, you ask? He'd think this man believes in what I believe in, that is," I hope one day my children will be judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin".
Does your president believe that, eh Liz???
I accept your apologyin advance.

Anthony| 9.29.11 @ 3:42PM

P.S. Liz, I will not "sleep on the President", as you suggested in your post, I don't swing both ways.
It violates both Islam and Christianity. Shame on you for suggesting that I do so!!! Freudian slip perhaps Liz? Is that white guilt of yours still raging inside you perhaps?
What would Dr. King say?
P.S. I ment to say "child of a Muslim male" in my first post.

1ConservativeUSA| 9.29.11 @ 11:49AM

In the beginning of Obama's presidency, I felt anger and disgust when watching our president speak. Instead of lifting our nation, he lifted himself; always attacking some person, group or our country, always puffing himself up, always disingenuous and hyperbolic, always politically expedient.

Towards the middle of his reign, having been fully exposed to the farce, I felt amused and entertained, as I watched Obama contort himself, and running from side show to side show to cover his failed policies, failed leadership, and election shellackings.

Now, as we enter his final year, I feel sadness as I watch Obama, a man who is clearly unhinged and mentally ill. In addition to the same behavior above, Obama is now sinking to the lowest levels of human behavior. He has lowered our discourse and he has successfully pitted Americans against each other.

The sadness is mostly for the damage done to our country, but there is some for him. While the mainstream media would have you believe that I want (the black half of) Obama hanging from a tree, I wish no harm to him.

Now, I feel dtermination and I will do what I can to peacefully, legally, but decisively remove Obama from office.

It has been an incredible and emotional time for me, watching this truly unworthy president attempt to steer us away from the principles that made us great.

Anita| 9.29.11 @ 1:26PM

Your comment was so sad. I knew from the get-go that this man was a professional liar, a person who wanted to destroy my country from within. He has almost succeeded. No one really knew who he was, his friends. I want this man to fail miserably but have a great fear that his "people" will rise up to hurt us and themselves once again. Thanks for this excellent capture of the feelings of many Americans who grieve for our country ... it's not dead, I don't mean to imply that ... but it's so awful to think that anyone wants to destroy the last best hope on Earth. So misguided, so abused by brainwashing. That's our "president." You know what I fear? That he's just the first wave. Teach your children and your grandchildren, because what they're learning in public school is treason.

BHOisATurd| 9.29.11 @ 12:44PM

1ConservativeUSA - nice post. Your sentiment is felt by many.

Womba| 9.29.11 @ 1:32PM

Your commentary reminded me of a saying from a curmudgeonly teacher of mine who once asked:
"Does the slave want to be free, or does he just want a slave of his own?"

martin j smith| 9.29.11 @ 1:41PM

I want to make a note about what are the Republican establishment--I would consider Karl Rove, John McCaine, Lindsey Graham, Susan Collins, Peggy Noonan among that group.
The notion that one can work with Harry Reid or Obama is false. The Socialists use of class warfare
and the uncivil rhetoric from the LEFT is just one reason why a bi-partisan effort will fail. Another is the destructive government regulations and unwillingness to allow for Free Market economic ideas. And ample evidence that Obama has total
contempt for any Republicans. Oh to be sure there are other things to add on. But, that is enough for me. I have to wonder what planet the Republican Establishment is living on. The evidence is too clear. Thus, In my view Herman Cain won the last debate. I will guess that voters are tired of the RINO and moderate side.
Do Republican Establishment folk really want to win or...... Are they more concerned about pleasing the enemy --the Socialists.

Margie| 9.29.11 @ 3:05PM

You are correct as usual, Martin.
When ANYONE compromises with the truth, they are LOST!!
Our elected leaders are beginning to realize this... or are they?

Thomas Paine| 10.1.11 @ 7:51PM

Herman Cain is the best thing to happen to America since Ronald Reagan.

I predict he will win the nomination and Presidency. I hope he picks Rubio for VP, and Rubio accepts.

Oldefarte| 9.29.11 @ 3:56PM

This editorial's TRUTH was predictable prior to 11/4/08. I think that the old saying that YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR applies to this situation possibly!!!!!!!!!

tma-sierrahills| 9.29.11 @ 4:20PM

The President was going to do the Al Sharpton thing, but it was too short notice for the proper processed bouffant hair job. Good piece, but of course one of the problems with competing with China is with businesses that not only pay slave wages but are subsidized or semi-owned by the Chinese government. Also things like using your underground water as a toxic sewer eventually has a price--much larger as it is delayed.

Martin Owens| 9.29.11 @ 6:01PM

What I'd like to know is where anybody ever got the idea that this guy was any kind of orator? He stinks. All he has done is to field a bad imitation of a third rate preacher in a backwoods revival tent. It's corny, it's sloppy, it's jump-the-shark posturing from one end the other, and it's phony as hell.

Of course the liberals all swooned- they were bound and determined to have a no hands orgasm at everything he said and did anyway.

But why, oh why has everyone else given him the benefit of the doubt? He's been speechifying since 2007, but he has yet to give a genuinely good speech- one from the heart.

Naturalborn Texicanette| 9.29.11 @ 9:44PM

best case scenario:

.......and so, Obama,Moochelle and family ride slowly off into the sunset....never to be seen or heard from again......................

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!! (long sigh of relief!)

Thomas Paine| 10.1.11 @ 7:53PM

Personally, I RELISH the day, someday, when I see this EX President in an airport. Free speech, here I come!

Brian| 9.30.11 @ 2:41AM

Repubs gave us affirmative action so it's our duty as Repubs to keep Obama in office. Very strange our Repub establishment opposes affirmative action for Obama but not us.

Fukashima will cause fewer deaths than even Chernobyl's 56.

Google up the video for Michael Crichton's "State of Fear" speech. My highlight -- the assertion (undoubtedly true) that more man-years were lost due to CONSTANT FEAR over radiation than the 56 lives cut short in actual deaths.

Hollywood Hick| 10.1.11 @ 8:00AM

Pretty ridiculous that Barry can't even get it right in his own community. I've never seen anybody this "snakebit" when it comes to making the correct call - on anything. Almost makes me feel sorry for him. Naaah...

Thomas Paine| 10.1.11 @ 7:56PM

That's not his community. Obama never lived in the slave shacks ... he was raised in the Plantation Mansion.

(And now he's busy convincing the slaves they will be happiest staying such)

rbirner| 10.1.11 @ 8:31PM

The election of B.O. was by default. Old man McCain was viewed as a representation of GW Bush. B.O. represented youth and an opportunity to make repriations on our history of slavery. Experience and realistic policies took back seat to this. Now we all are reaping the folly of this mindset. The 2012 election will be a "correction".

Rick| 10.1.11 @ 9:14PM

Your a rasist and a bigget! No one ever accused Bush of talking like a black preacher and everybody knows that Bush is a rasist! Your a rasist!
