Anthony Weiner’s Whereabouts

Where was he while NY-9 was going down in flames?

Americans of a political cast of mind have focused this week on New York where Bob Turner, a Republican, was wrestling with David Weprin, a Democrat, for the seat vacated by Rep. Anthony Weiner (pronounced just as you would expect) owing to the public’s distaste for Weiner’s sending pictures of his best friend to women whom he hardly knew. Incidentally the seat has been in Democratic control since 1923. It went 54 percent to 46 percent to Mr. Turner, despite 1,000 Democratic apparatchiks hauling voters to the polls.

Yet where was Mr. Weiner during this race? Well, The American Spectator has had its investigative team following him and they report from posh Positano, Italy, along the Amalfi coast, that last week he dined with his wife Huma Abedin and a very cosmopolitan party at a very upscale restaurant, La Sponda. Mr. Weiner appeared subdued, but Huma was rather vociferous and denouncing the prudery of America to her polyglot companions. She objected to the provinciality of America, talking about the country as though this were 1924 and Anthony Comstock were burning licentious books. Apparently her dinner mates approved of her husband’s hobby. Maybe it was an international photography club for exhibitionists, though our crew reports that all were fully dressed.

Of course Huma is a State Department employee, and an aide to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who has had many of the same problems with her hubby. Yet should Huma be speaking ill of the country she serves in a public setting abroad, at least a public setting that was not a nudist camp or a recovery point for sex offenders? And will she be reporting her grand dinner on her financial reports to the State Department? At the hotel where she was staying, Le Sirenuse, even a short stay can easily run several thousand dollars. Then too, it costs hundreds of dollars for a couple to dine out there, and they started at the Champagne and oyster bar! Who was paying for them? Anthony is out of work, though he was a great scold to the entire Republican Party when in office. Was it the Democratic National Committee paying to get Mr. Weiner out of the country for the election or was it someone else? A foreign power?

We shall await Huma’s filing.

The mad rush by readers to post here in response to the question clearly demonstrates the answer: Who cares?

Phil Sukalewski| 9.17.11 @ 11:30AM

I didn't even read the article, Just wanted to post the same thing.

Buck Ofama| 9.19.11 @ 8:52PM

Me, too. Didn't read one silly word about this silly bunt, Weinersucker.

The Clintidote| 9.19.11 @ 2:49PM

Well, I have a question: if the Huma is in Italy, who's servicing Hillary?

Teaghan| 9.16.11 @ 11:48AM

We all care Al, it's just that there are other irons in the fire right now. You know, the White House giving half a billion to a failing company and all, asking a military general to change his testimony to benefit an obama contributor. Just stuff like that.

Al Adab| 9.16.11 @ 12:23PM

Teaghan:
Add to your financial concern the gurantee we just made to the European central bank. Our debt seems bad enough without us covering theirs.

Weiner will land some comfy gov job with a big paycheck for his Baghdad Bob performances on the news over the last year. Corruption?

Old Joe| 9.16.11 @ 2:06PM

The pervert will receive his congressional salary and benifits for life thanks to the great retirement plan these congressional scums have given themselves at our expense.

beebop| 9.16.11 @ 6:12PM

But in the interim ... what to do, what to do? Perhaps he can start an offshore pay to view (ugh) site of some sort? Just kidding Anthony --- keep it to yourself, won't you?

fliteking| 9.16.11 @ 8:27PM

He should keep it to himself but something tells me...

sinanju| 4.14.12 @ 12:48AM

Remember Weiner is Huma's beard. He did the the ultimate favor for House Clinton by marrying Huma and they will see to it that he's taken care of. Any kind of government job, however, is clearly out of the question for him and they must be having difficulty talking any of the major corporations and liberal non-profits who owe them into giving him a nice cushy sinecure.

Weiner smells too damn bad right now. It may take a year or two. The problem is the photos, they will be around forever. Anyone being asked to hire him has only to make a few mouse clicks to be reminded that taking him aboard will immediately dust off the scandal and arouse public suspicion.

Mike D.| 9.16.11 @ 11:50AM

This pervert can take a swan dive off the Brooklyn bridge.

Buck Ofama| 9.19.11 @ 8:53PM

I think he probably takes lots of swan dives on Thai lady boys.

Dan Hirsch| 9.16.11 @ 11:52AM

No, it registers "No shock."

Emmett, we as a people have become accustomed to be taken for fools by our "Rulers."

Have you filed a FOIA request for Ms. Abedin's expenses for the dates in question?

That might be fun. But they'll have to respond, at least to deny your request and explain why they deny it. You might glean something interesting, you might not. But making them do something besides keeping their feet on our throats could give us a morsel of relief...

We should distract them from their agenda whenever and wherever we can.

DTOM

Al Adab| 9.16.11 @ 12:26PM

Dan:
Most of your posts carry the DOTM end.

Is that a shockwave filing or a reference to Transformer movies? Not to be a smart alec, just curious.

Sugartown Super| 9.16.11 @ 1:28PM

He explained that in regards to another post: "DTOM: Don't Tread On Me"

Conservative Bob| 9.16.11 @ 1:34PM

DTOM = Don't tred On Me.....

Al Adab| 9.16.11 @ 1:48PM

Thanks guys, I'm embarrased not to have known.

PaulyD| 9.16.11 @ 12:09PM

Hmmm....

Anthony| 9.16.11 @ 12:47PM

Anthony's Weiner needs all the oysters the boy can handle!!!
America and NY 9 say: THANK YOU WEINER

no hussein 2012| 9.16.11 @ 12:50PM

Weiner's actions produced a prog seat loss, a good thing.

Con Chef (NB) | 9.16.11 @ 1:17PM

Weiner's career has shriveled up like... well, YOU know. His flaccid attempts at defending himself weren't anywhere near stiff enough. And now he's been gelded.

"Some cause happiness wherever they go; others, whenever they go."...Oscar Wilde

And so it is with Weenie.

Mike Hawk| 9.16.11 @ 10:39PM

Does Huma have a wiener photo on her desk at Dept of State?? Foggy Bottom is a good place for all of them.

Dick Nome| 9.17.11 @ 7:38PM

As far as Weiner's career future is concerned, I believe he will stick it out till he finds something firm he can get a grasp on. Looks like Huma will hold on till then as well.

Buck Ofama| 9.19.11 @ 8:54PM

I looked up that quote and it had a reference, "...see Obama".

Trinacria| 9.16.11 @ 1:27PM

Thank you, Mr. Tyrrell, for ruining my honeymoon - I actually had reservations for a suite at Le Sirenuse in June! Can't imagine spending my first night in nuptial bliss on a bed that was possibly occupied by the flacid photo fetishist. Now I have to start from scratch (do you know how long it took me to get my fiance to settle on a place?!!!)

W| 9.16.11 @ 6:54PM

T,
may I suggest Capri as an alternative to the Wiener infected hotel. There are serveral great hotels, great restaurants and shops, and a general all around swell place. We enjoyed it as a delayed honeymoon.

Jesus Christ| 9.16.11 @ 7:05PM

W
Grazie infinite, paesano!

sinanju| 4.14.12 @ 12:22AM

I dunno about that. The Emperor Tiberius spent his dotage on the Isle of Capri committing far more heinous acts of perversion than anything Weiner (or Huma, for that matter) could imagine.

Does that fact that this was two millenia and change ago remove the stench?

PattyMor| 9.16.11 @ 2:11PM

Maybe the MuBros have funded the lasvish accomodations. You know those kindly little old highly religious people from the Religion Of Peace.

Jack von Bauer| 9.16.11 @ 3:26PM

Anthony Weiner is the Photographic Editor of Obama's new website #ATTACK WATCH.

Probably. It's right up his alley.

beebop| 9.16.11 @ 6:15PM

Goodness! Wish I'd been faster with that ... well put. He has obviously moved up the anatomy highway as the site seems to focus on lips!

DavidThompson| 9.16.11 @ 4:06PM

"Where was he while NY-9 was going down in flames?"
He should be out pounding the pavement to find honest work, so that he can support his wife and forthcoming family.
"We shall await Huma's filing."
Huh? Her nails? Divorce papers? For the NY-9 seat in the House?

shipley130| 9.16.11 @ 4:19PM

He was having his cape and tights dry cleaned. Couldn't be seen in public without his superhero garb. LOL.

shipley130| 9.16.11 @ 4:23PM

OK, now that I got my smarmy comment about A.W. posted, I want to know if this article is serious about Huma bashing Americans or if it's just humor.

k962| 9.16.11 @ 4:24PM

Hey Weiner Thanks from a Republican!!

Occam's Tool| 9.16.11 @ 6:11PM

Well, we all know that Huma supports, like the Paulbots, Shit Head Asshats Relishing Idiotic Antagonisms Liberals Adore Weepily (unlike Clint, my Capitalizations have a purpose). No good can come of that.

“Unlike this President, I do not believe it is our place to dictate how

Israel’s sovereignty and not try to dictate her policy from Washington."

This Ia The United States & We ain't votin' for Your Knesset , Screwball Israel Firster Fanatic,Tool Job.

Occam's Tool| 9.18.11 @ 12:02PM

"Israel is our close friend." Is that what you believe, Clint?

Do you read what you post, moron?

PolishKnight| 9.16.11 @ 6:26PM

Again, of course, the issue wasn't merely the pruditry of the small minded, provincial electorate in Huma's eyes but rather his poor attempt to cover up his actions. Namely, the same thing that happened with Bill Clinton.

Indeed, imagine... if he had said from the beginning that he had made a mistake, sent to "public" rather than private then there would have been a non-story. The conservative press could chuckle about the incident but no charges would have been filed and the leftist media would have ensured that no further waves would have been created. Similar to Paula Jones' lawsuit: If the Clintons had settled from the beginning and paid her off, then that would have been the end of it. Worst case scenario, he could have simply defaulted on the lawsuit and refused to even answer the civil lawsuits charges in court. He declined.

Perhaps Huma has a point though but not in the way she intended: To avoid embarrassment in the eyes of the prudes they engaged in a cover up and wound up destroying themselves. It's like someone not wanting to get a speeding ticket and winding up going on a high speed chase. The left can't help but lie not only about the standards of prudes, but their own as well. Then they get nailed and blame it on the prudes.

beebop| 9.17.11 @ 6:55AM

You have this exactly right. He could simply have said that the pic was intended for the missus and that would have been that. But in his mind, he needed to be the "innocent" victim so blame someone -- anyone -- and watch your story unravel. He was too stupid for his own good.

PolishKnight| 9.17.11 @ 9:53PM

That would have been a pretty obvious lie but at least not on the same level he had made that this was the result of a hacking incident which caused his own friendly media to embarrass themselves trying to help support...

sinanju| 4.14.12 @ 12:37AM

If I recall correctly (and I might not), the sticking point with Paula Jones was that she was specifically demanding a public apology from Our Bill (which would have been as good as a public confession) rather than money.

Remember Clinton had only earlier admitted that he had ("caused pain in his marriage") He never, ever copped to any particular offense.

MainelyDoc| 9.16.11 @ 6:53PM

I hope you DO get the financial report of her visit to Italy. Do spouses get to travel for free too, if it was "business" related?

Huma's comments and actions reflect somewhat the persona of her employer/ boss, do they not??

Jim Hlavac | 9.16.11 @ 11:03PM

And remember this, Mr Tyrell, the next time some whacko gay guy does something weird, remember that this heterosexual Weiner did something beyond the pale; as do so many of your kind. Killing kids, raping moms, abandoning progeny, filling the Jerry Springer show with guests; it's endless.

Yes, some of my people are ninnies; as are some of yours, if Obama, Pelosi and Weiner are to be examples. I'm sorry for Frank, but I can't vote in MA, I'm far away.

I live a quiet life; you live a quiet life, and some heteros are crazy; as are some gays. For "gayness" has nothing to do with any of it; as "heteroness" has nothing to do with any of it.

And it is time for you, sir, to speak out against the slander and libel against all gays by the likes of Tony Perkins and Peter Sprigg of the FRC, and Maggie Gallagher of NOM, this is absurd, they are delusional.

"Anti-family"! That's the claim, here too; well, sir and all, go look up my brother-in-law David M. Weiss of FDNY Rescue 1. And I had to console my niece and nephew, as 11 & 13 year old children, that their father would not come home on 9/13. Who among you were there to take my place as proud uncle? None, none of you. You were busy telling me I'm attacking my own family. It is infuriating. Get a grip.

Nick| 9.17.11 @ 1:45AM

Mr. Hlavac,

But, Weiner is a liberal democrat. We expect them to be perverts!

And, you have no people. You were not born to pervert the marital act with other men. You choose to engage in that activity.

My condolences are extended, for the death of your brother-in-law. I will pray for him and your family.
God Bless.

beebop| 9.17.11 @ 6:57AM

Wow. Speaking of getting a grip, perhaps you should put your big boy pants on? Just sayin' ....

Occam's Tool| 9.18.11 @ 12:03PM

My condolences to you sir, on the death of your brother-in-law, a true American hero.

sinanju| 4.14.12 @ 12:33AM

And it's just like a liberal (gay or straight) to dig up a family member's corpse and shake it in our faces in order to change the subject of the conversation (oldest liberal debating trick in the book) to something entirely unrelated.

I will not dare to assume what your late brother-in-law would think of this but he just might be pissed off royal.

Jim Hlavac | 9.16.11 @ 11:08PM

Yes, 9/13, for we had no idea he was gone until then; then we found he was lost on 9/11.

Jim Hlavac | 9.16.11 @ 11:11PM

Oh yah, "NY going down in flames" -- boy did I know something about that -- 15 of my FDNY friends lost, and their kids and widows all then thrilled to have me, your favorite sissy, around, to tend the children while the adults dealt with the seriousness of those times. Flames indeed; you all are clueless about flames. And instead worry about flamers. Egad.

DLB| 9.17.11 @ 1:46PM

When metaphors are outlawed, only outlaws will have metaphors.

Jim Hlavac | 9.16.11 @ 11:23PM

Oh yah, Mr Tyrrell, that "going down in flames" headline inflamed me; so soon after a horrific date which tears at my family and being -- well, sir, if you want the memorial t-shirt, I shall be glad to provide you one; and all your staff, I have the inside track to the horror of NY "going down in flames."

But remember this sir; that unwed mother, now married to a fey guy she's never seen with, doesn't use his last name as tradition requires, nor did her new husband adopt her kid -- who is in the theater industry in NYC! (clue, is that a friggin' clue?) -- nor wears her wedding ring, one Maggie Gallagher, of the Orwellian named "National Organization 'for' Marriage" -- who is all so proud that her "gay marriage" attack on Weprin is what defeated him, as if the economy had nothing to do with it -- well, I'm sorry, I'm pissed.

no hussein 2012| 9.17.11 @ 11:58AM

Go back in the closet, weirdo.

blushark| 4.10.12 @ 11:48AM

You seem a tad unhinged, and obvoiusly struggle with your penchant for perversion. Maybe you should see a psychiatrist.

Margie| 9.16.11 @ 11:53PM

Jim,

Sin is sin, no matter who commits it. We all need to live a life of repentance. Christians are just ruined sinners too, saved by the Grace of God.

I've spoken with you before, and tried to make that clear. No one's any better than anyone else as far as the sin issue goes~ we've all been bitten, all have it in our flesh.

The difference being that Christians have turned from their sin (by the Grace of God only), and He keeps us from it.

It's the only way.

I'm sorry for your loss. I truly am, sir.
I hope that God comforts you and your family continually.
Most importantly, I pray that God opens your eyes to the knowledge of His Grace and forgiveness, without which we should ALL perish.

Tom in Michigan| 9.17.11 @ 2:06PM

I'm still waiting for somebody to investigate Huma Abedin Weiner's association with the Muslim Brotherhood. Her mother and brother are prominent members of this seed crystal of terrorism yet, all American Spectator cares about is her lavish lifestyle?

Occam's Tool| 9.18.11 @ 12:04PM

Tom,

G-d Bless you, sir.

sinanju| 4.14.12 @ 12:27AM

The implication is that her lavish lifestyle over the past fifteen years is almost certainly being underwritten by petro-bucks

Oldefarte| 9.17.11 @ 3:58PM

Maybe he and her boss' husband are donning tranch coats, sumglasses and flashing her boss [but of course no doubt she wouldn't be interested as usual]. Oh well, there's always the propability of pizza and cigars with WH interns when they return to the states, if all else fails. Maybe the payment for the lavish meals will come from the proceeds of the sale of WH furniture and art works from the last Democratic exit from 1600 perhaps? Or maybe the Whitewater profits? Who knows, who cares!!!!!

Oldefarte| 9.17.11 @ 4:01PM

PS: If they get caught and prosecuted for skipping out on the expensive restaurant tab, the head of the D of J can always provide a RICHLY deserved pardon, no doubt!!!!!!
