This boringly ineffective would-be demagogue in the Oval Office
keeps trotting out the same tired, petty, counterfactual lines in
every one of his pompous, detached-from-reality speeches — and he
did so again in his Saturday
radio address. So shopworn is his refrain, and so
counterproductive are his policies (both enacted and proposed),
that the markets tank just about every time he opens his mouth, and
the economy suffers with each minute he continues to occupy the
White House. His resignation from office, in abject embarrassment
at his failures, would be a great first step toward economic
recovery, not to mention a balm to the souls of tens of millions of
Americans sick of his condescension, his prevarications, and his
incompetence.
Of course this man’s ego won’t let him resign, but just
think: Vice President Joe Biden, for all his blarney, is a
naturally ebullient “people person,” a dealmaker, and more a
conventional liberal politician than an ideologue. If he ascended
to the presidency, the markets would immediately take heart that
some sort of rough progress could be fashioned despite Washington’s
bitter divide. His tone alone would improve the confidence of both
consumers and investors and help unleash the “animal spirits” that
are necessary for an economy to grow.
Let Barack The One Obama take his hectoring lecturing back
to some university classroom somewhere, while the rest of us get
about the business of reviving the country we so love. Ahh, we can
only wish….
That aforementioned radio address, so beneath what should
be the tone and message of an American president that it was
downright tawdry, bears some analysis to demonstrate just how far
this man has sunk.
His “blame-everybody-but-me” routine started in his first
substantive paragraph after the usual opening niceties. “I think
our country would be a whole lot better off,” said our national
School Marm, “if our elected leaders showed the same kind of
discipline and integrity and responsibility that most Americans
demonstrate in their lives every day…. we need folks in Washington
— the people whose job it is to deal with the country’s problems,
the people who you elected to serve — we need them to put aside
their differences to get things done.”
To which the obvious response is, Wait, isn’t Obama
himself not only one of “our elected leaders” but the pre-eminent
one, at least by title and responsibilities? Is he himself
exempt from “putting aside differences”? The man speaks as if he’s
still an outsider, an observer, rather than one of the most
vociferous of all Washington’s ideological hard-liners and the
absolute king of hardball, compromise-be-damned practitioners of
black political arts. (Obamacare, anyone? Where was the compromise
and good will in its legislative legerdemain and its bare,
one-vote majority?)
As for discipline and responsibility, such bromides don’t
carry much moral weight when they come from a guy who has yet to
put forth a budget this year that earned even a single vote from
his own party, who never put forth an actual plan on paper to solve
the debt-ceiling crisis, and who vacations with the rich and famous
in Martha’s Vineyard while asking taxpayers to pick up the tab for
a
second plane for the Obama family, which was just the latest in
taxpayer-funded
extravagances for the First Lady.
But back to his radio remarks: After then proposing some
ineffectual policy prescriptions (about which, more in a moment),
The One continued in this same vein (or was it this
vain?). As in: “The only thing preventing us from passing
these bills is the refusal by some in Congress to put country ahead
of party. That’s the problem right now. That’s what’s holding this
country back. That’s what we have to change.”
Now I get it. Why wasn’t it clear before now? If you don’t
like Obama’s own ideas, you can’t possibly be motivated by any
honorable considerations. The only thing that can motivate the
supreme being’s opponents is politics of the crassest kind — so
benighted, indeed, that it amounts to selling out one’s country.
But if everybody would stop selling out their country for partisan
gain, everything would suddenly be hunky-dory — because, you see,
it is only this unpatriotic partisanship that is “the problem right
now” and the only thing “holding this country back.”
I’m glad we cleared that up. I somehow thought the problem
was overwhelming debt piled on by Obama, outrageous regulatory
burdens imposed by Obama, and the bursting of an asset bubble
caused by a combination of moronic Federal Reserve policies and
horrendous housing policies pushed by mostly liberal politicians
and by the Democratic profiteers who ran Fannie Mae and Freddie
Mac. It’s nice to know we can fix things, instead, just by stifling
and hamstringing the unpatriotic politicians who dare to tell Obama
he can’t rule by oh-so-benevolent fiat.
It’s all so simple. For instance, Mr. “This Was the
Moment” Obama says we should extend his temporary cut in
payroll taxes. Hmm…. Fat lot of good that has done us so far.
Cutting payroll taxes takes money dedicated to Social Security and
replaces it in Social Security’s paper accounts with non-existent
money from the general fund which then is chalked up to the overall
deficit and debt, all while doing almost nothing to change the
actual incentives for economic behavior. Every time we try one of
these temporary tax cuts or “rebates,” the benefits for the overall
economy prove as ephemeral as the supposedly shovel-ready jobs from
the Obama “stimulus” package that Obama himself, ever-so-jocularly,
finally admitted weren’t shovel-ready after all. We’re still
waiting for those jobs, and we’re still waiting for any tangible
macro-economic benefits from the current payroll-tax cut, yet Obama
wants us to extend the ineffective cut again because, well, it’s
like giving out free money.
Then Obama says, “And let’s pass trade deals to level the
playing field for our businesses.” He is referring to
long-ago-negotiated agreements with firm allies Colombia, Panama,
and South Korea — with our stalwart friends in Colombia especially
needing the agreements as they try to be a bulwark of freedom
against the scourge of Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez and against vicious
drug lords.
Great idea! Finally something we can all agree on! There’s
just one problem: Obama himself ran on what Sean Goforth in
World Policy Review
called “a mildly protectionist platform,” then let the deals
languish without any presidential impetus for two years, then
insisted that they contain additional requirements as sops to labor
bosses. Oh — and as Goforth notes, “most lingering objections come
from the Democrats’ side of the aisle.”
But that’s the Obama way: Blame everybody but yourself.
Question everybody’s motives but your own. Insist on renewing
policies that haven’t worked. Demand responsibility but accept none
for yourself. Then hit the links, or a boat tour of the beach where
Spielberg filmed the great white tea party shark terrorizing
ordinary American “folks” just trying to stay afloat in these
trying times and tides.
The truth is, it’s a sad day in America when Joe Biden’s
blarney would be a marked improvement in Oval Office
leadership.

I suggeest that Mr. Obama do himself and everyone else in the world a huge favor and stay on Martha's Vineyard for the rest of his term in office. Perhaps he could get Mrs. Pelosi, Mr. Biden, the Clintons and the rest of the cabinet to join him him. I believe the country and the world will take it in a positive way.
Seriously: I have doubts about Obama running again. Right now he would be a serious drag on the ticket. I think he may be convinced not to run again. After all the office of ex president is extremly lucrative. all of them get huge speaking fees and accumulate large fortunes. Even Al Gore was supposed to have added 100 million to his net worth. If he does run I consider it a good possiblity someone will run against him from his left. There are several leftwing billlionares who could give a lot of trouble. Even a guy like Dennis Kuccinich could stir things up a lot with his base.

I did not vote for Obama, but it is a mistake for a President to resign. It would set a bad precedent where a president with low poll numbers would be pressured by the media to resign. It sounds great now that Obama is president, but remeber Bush's low numbers, and if a conservative like Bachman wins, then expect low poll numbers and demands that she resign.
Remember when Nixon resigned? Jerry Ford was a weak president, Congress cut off all aid to South Vietnam resulting in the invasion in January 1975 by the North Vietnamese, the fall of Saigon in April 1975, the boat people, and the holocaust of two million Cambodians of a five million population in 1975-1976.
We have elections, not resignations.

GWB ran this country into the ground and this man has to unravel his mess! The bottom line is that if President Obama was not a black man, we would not be hearing all of this mess from so many of you egotistical individuals who believe that the anglosaxon male can do a better job regardless of the circumstances. Yes, just as God told Ezekiel:
"Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do [them]."

Confirmation is also needed to receive all seven gifts of the Holy Spirit.
Hope all is well with you and Victor.

Margie| 8.23.11 @ 12:00AM
Nick,
Greetings.
Yes, the confirmation comes when one is regenerated from above~ by the Holy Spirit~ and ther is no mistaking it!
"That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit." Jn. 3:6.
God bless!
Nick| 8.23.11 @ 1:45AM
Margie,
Actually, Confirmation comes after the regeneration.
Regeneration from above, or, being born again, comes when the water and Spirit are poured forth and we receive our new circumcised hearts, as God told Ezekiel to prophesy.
Confirmation comes with the laying on of hands, as it is written in the Scriptures:
"Now, when the apostles, who were in Jerusalem, had heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John. Who, when they had come, prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Ghost. For he was not as yet come upon any of them: but they were only baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Then they laid their hands upon them: and they received the Holy Ghost." (Emphasis mine.)
- Acts 8:14-17
"Having heard these things, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. And when Paul had imposed his hands on them, the Holy Ghost came upon them: and they spoke with tongues and prophesied." (Emphasis mine.)
- Acts 19:5-6
There is only one instance, in the Scriptures, when Confirmation was given before Baptism, but, this was a special situation where God was showing the Judaizers that the Gentiles were to be included in Christ's redemptive plan:
"While Peter was yet speaking these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them that heard the word. And the faithful of the circumcision, who came with Peter, were astonished for that the grace of the Holy Ghost was poured out upon the Gentiles also. For they heard them speaking with tongues and magnifying God. Then Peter answered: Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, who have received the Holy Ghost, as well as we? And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ." (Emphasis mine.)
- Acts 10:44-48
The Letter to the Hebrews confirms (little pun there, ha-ha!) that Baptism and Confirmation are separate Sacraments, that should not be repeated when we fall, when it lists the elementary teachings of the Christian faith:
"Wherefore, leaving the word of the beginning of Christ, let us go on to things more perfect: not laying again the foundation of penance from dead works and of faith towards God, of the doctrine of baptisms and imposition of hands, and of the resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment." (Emphasis mine.)
- Hebrews 6:1-2
Thus, Confirmation, i.e., the gifts and graces of the Holy Spirit being poured out on the Christian initiate by the laying on of hands and anointing with oil, was different from the Sacrament of Baptism; which, through the power of the Holy Spirit, the stain of original sin is washed away and we are given our new, circumcised hearts.
It is through this anointing oil that we become a "royal priesthood" as Saint Peter states in 1 Peter 2:9. David was anointed king by Samuel and Aaron was anointed High Priest by Moses, but, we are anointed with the Holy Spirit at Confirmation, making us royal priests, in a priesthood we share with Christ, Who was a priest "according to the order of Melchisedech" (cf Hebrews 5).
I know you don't believe any of this, but that is okay.
Thanks for the kind words.
God Bless!
Margie| 8.23.11 @ 1:05PM
What you know, Nick, is exactly what I believe~ and preach~ and have been for a couple of years here~ which is the pure gospel of Jesus Christ.
You quoted Acts 10~ which shows that baptism by water was done after the receiving of the Holy Spirit.
And in Acts 8 & 19 you are actually proving the truth~ that being baptized with water only is not enough, and that there is a need to receive the Holy Spirit. The Bible shows that and you actually quote it, yet you insist that the baptism by water IS the receiving of the Spirit, and so you prove yourself wrong!
The rest of your post is Catholic gobilty-gook and is NOT the Bible.
"Confirmation" isn't in the Bible. It's a false teaching.
Nor is infant baptism.
Have you not read?
"Hence even the first covenant was not ratified without blood.
For when every commandment of the law had been declared by Moses to all the people, he took the blood of calves and goats, with water and scarlet wool and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book itself and all the people, saying, "This is the blood of the covenant which God commanded you."
And in the same way He sprinkled with the blood both the tent and all the vessels used in worship.
Indeed, under the law almost everything is purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins.
Thus it was necessary for the copies of the Heavenly things to be purified with these rites, but the Heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.
For Christ has entered, not into a sanctuary made with hands, a copy of the true one, but into Heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God on our behalf.
Nor was it to offer Himself repeatedly, as the high priest enters the Holy Place yearly with blood not his own; for then he would have had to suffer repeatedly since the foundation of the world. But as it is, He has appeared once for all at the end of the age to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself.
And just as it is appointed for men to die once, and after that comes judgment, so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for Him." Heb. 9:21-28.
And do you not know that the baptism with water is not the same thing as the baptism that saves? For Jesus Himself says:
"And while staying with them He charged them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which, He said, "you heard from Me, for John baptized with water, but before many days you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit." Acts 1:4 & 5.
The promise of the Father! (Not the Pope).
That promise is spelled out by God, and you just read it. It has nothing to do with being baptized with water~ as you just read.
"And when He had said this, he breathed on them, and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit." Jn. 20:22.
"You are already made clean by the Word which I have spoken to you." Jn. 15:3.
There's no water there!
There is God's Way~ as He states it in the Bible, and then there is Man's Religious ways~ and each person must decide just Whom they will serve.
Nick| 8.23.11 @ 4:30PM
Margie,
Please, re-read my reply again.
I clearly state that Acts 10 was a special circumstance where God wanted to show the Judaizers that the Gentiles were included in the redemptive plan of Christ.
I don't believe that I have ever stated that "baptism by water IS the receiving of the Spirit." If I have, I misstated the facts.
In my reply, above, I clearly state that it is during the Sacrament of Baptism, "through the power of the Holy Spirit, [that] the stain of original sin is washed away and we are given our new, circumcised hearts."
We receive the gifts and graces of the Holy Spirit during the Sacrament of Confirmation, with the laying on of hands.
"you heard from Me, for John baptized with water, but before many days you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit."
You a partly correct. Saint John's baptism was for the penance of the Jews, to prepare the way for Christ. Therefore, John's baptism did not save, as Saint Peter says their baptism does, in 1 Peter 3:21.
But, Acts 1:5 only states that they would be baptized with the Holy Spirit in a few days. It doesn't say that they were not baptized with water. The Scriptures are silent on how, precisely, the Apostles were baptized.
It was only after the Crucifixion and Resurrection of Christ that the Apostles were told to baptize in the "name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit."
Baptism was prefigured in the Old Testament by circumcision. (Which was performed on infants, by the way.) Confirmation was prefigured by the anointing of the priests and the kings in the Old Testament.
Christ is Greek for Messiah, which means anointed one. When we call ourselves Christians we are calling ourselves anointed ones.
When we are Baptized and Confirmed, we are "sealed with the promised Holy Spirit." - Ephesians 1:13 (cf 2 Cor. 1:22)
The Catechism explains this far better than I can in this restricted space. If you are interested, here are the links:

Nick,
Actually, the "Confirmation" you are talking about, (a Catholic teaching, and not in the Bible), was not the confirmation I was talking about~ but then.. I think you knew that already, didn't you?
When I said .."the confirmation" I meant the type of confirming whereby one becomes aware that he has been regenerated from above as in Jn. 3:3.
There is no such teaching as yours done by Jesus in the Bible, just as there is no such thing as "Sacraments", nor is there prayer to the dead, nor is there such a vile teaching as Transubstantiation, and I could go on, but what's the point?
You keep quoting from the Catholic Bible, which isn't from the Greek~ and has added its own teachings~ and you already know what God says about people who do this, yet you persist.
People will choose to believe a man who poses as Christ instead of Christ Himself as they are destined to do, sadly.
And you seem to be one of them.
I pray God opens your eyes.
God bless.
Nick| 8.25.11 @ 3:35PM
Margie,
Yes, I will continue to defend my beliefs, you will continue to defend your beliefs. And, this is a good thing.
It doesn't make either of us scumbags, in my opinion.
Also, the Revised Standard Version - Catholic Edition and the Douay-Rheims are both translations from the Greek.
Thank you for the prayers, I appreciate them, as I need all the prayers I can get!
God Bless!
Margie| 8.25.11 @ 7:30PM
A scumbag is someone who believes and so treats a Bible believing Christian as a heretic~ and tries to make them look like a liar and twists their words, and the Words of God.
You have said many things in opposition to the Word of God, and adhere to the teachings of a false Religion.
You have tried to make me out to be a liar as well.
You have also said that "I've been lied to" concerning the history of your Religion and its murderous past.
You have agreed with the murderers that Wyklffe and other Martyrs were heretical.
Now doesn't that make you exactly just like them? Just like Clint, who believes the same things?
And exactly like the Papists whom you agree with?
Just asking!
Nick| 8.25.11 @ 11:28PM
Margie,
"Now doesn't that make you exactly just like them? "
No, it does not. I'm sorry you can't see the difference. Also, I'm unfamiliar with that definition of scumbag! Ha-ha!
I have never tried to make you "look like a liar" or twist your words. I have pointed out the times when you have misstated a teaching of the Catholic Church, but, I have ascribed no malice on your part.
Many falsehoods about the Catholic Church were spread centuries ago. Now, they are just assumed as fact. This is not the fault of unsuspecting, good intentioned folks, like yourself and others. I'm just trying to set the record straight.
Again, Wycliff was not "murdered." He died of a stroke. Some of his teachings were heretical. But, he was not declared a heretic because he translated the Bible into English. This is simply not true.
William Tyndale, on the other hand, was burned at the stake for heresy. I do not condone this act. But, as I've explained to you previously, the secular rulers of that time thought this was the appropriate punishment for heresy.
Condemning them for it, as someone living in the 21st century, is like condemning the Founding Fathers for owning slaves. I did not live in their time, so it is not right for me to judge them. That is God's job.
Also, like Wycliff, Tyndale was not convicted of heresy because he translated the Bible into English. His Bible was unauthorized, but, he was charged with heresy because some of his teachings were heretical.
Did that clear this up? I hope it did.
God Bless!

Nick: You are supposedly Mr. Catholic. Who never heard of the fact that Jesus' whole messsage was about peace, brotherhood, and love of neighbor. The Muslims are your neighbor. You are supposed to love them and try to live in peace with them. But your no Catholic. That is quite obvious.

Occam's Tool,
You flatter me, sir.

Nick| 8.22.11 @ 6:13PM
Jack in Wi.,
I am far from "Mr. Catholic". I'm just a poor sinner. And, I certainly agree with Christ's message of peace. But, His message is meant for the individual, primarily, not nation states.
States have the right to defend themselves. Also, Saint John Chrysostom writes about the virtue of serving in the military and defending one's country. Have you ever read about the Crusades, by chance?
And, yes, the Moslems are my neighbors, and, I love them, as I love everyone on the planet.
You can love someone, and simultaneously send them to meet God. I guess according to you, Jack, Catholics couldn't have served during WWII, because they would've been killing fellow Catholics?
Being a Catholic doesn't mean being a pacifist.
I don't question your membership in the Catholic Church, Jack. I question your knowledge of Her teachings. If you support Hamas or the missile attack over the weekend, or, try to rationalize such evil acts; you are not in communion with the Church.
W| 8.22.11 @ 6:41PM
Nick, my DEEETROIT friend, isn't there a large Iraqi population in Dearborn, are they Christian or Muslim ?
I remember two restaurants, Penne and Roma hall, still there?
Nick| 8.22.11 @ 7:34PM
W,
Sorry, I'm not an expert on Dearborn. In fact, I don't think that I have been there in a few years. Dearborn is where many Arabs (i.e., Moslems) have congregated.
It is in the other suburbs, like where I live, that the Chaldeans have chosen live. They are Catholics, with their own rite. We have many in my neighborhood. In fact, my last next-door-neighbor was from Iraq, and I assume Chaldean, because they left the statue of Mary in their front yard.
He didn't speak English, so I don't know what his family went through. But, they were very nice.
You can easily tell the feast days of their patron saints, as the women get dressed in very colorful gowns of purple, orange, red, etc. The first time that I saw this, I did a quick internet search and found out that it was the feast day of some Eastern Church saint.
Sorry that I couldn't have been of more help.
God Bless!
Jack in Wi.| 8.22.11 @ 11:10PM
Dearborn has many Catholic Iraqi's Nick. You know the ones who have been killed and chased from the country in your beloved Iraqi Freedom. Did you ever study the Catholc Just War doctrine Nick? What Israel does isn't close to being just.
Occam's Tool| 8.22.11 @ 11:27PM
Actually, what Israel does is quite just, and shows significant forbearance NO OTHER COUNTRY in the world would show, Jack. Please name one.
Nick| 8.22.11 @ 11:42PM
Jack in Wi.,
"Dearborn has many Catholic Iraqi's Nick."
How would you know?
"You know the ones who have been killed and chased from the country in your beloved Iraqi Freedom."
Umm, if they were killed, um, how did they make it to Dearborn, Jack?
"Did you ever study the Catholc Just War doctrine Nick?"
Yes, I have. When are you going start studying it and stop promoting falsehoods?
"What Israel does isn't close to being just."
In every war Israel has fought with other nation-states, she has followed all criterion of the Just War Theory. When Israel has dealt terrorists, she has dealt with unlawful combatants and treated them as they deserve to be treated.
Perhaps you could state how exactly Israel has violated Just War Theory, instead of just falsely asserting it?
W| 8.23.11 @ 10:53AM
Jack, I believe most left Iraq before the first Gulf War. I remember they were interviewing them on TV during the first war.
The left because they were persecuted by the Religon of Peace.
They could have emigrated to the Islamic Republic of Iran and enjoyed the true democracy way of life in Iran, but they chose the USA, imagine that.
Michael Tomlinson| 8.22.11 @ 2:53PM
Nick if only he and Biden would resign things would be better, but don't hold your breath for that miracle.
As for the Muslim jihadists once they renounce worldwide jihad and their imperialist ambitions to force our submission to their false prophet and god, establish the caliphate (Sunnis) or bring on the Mahdi (Shia), acknowledge freedom of religion is a human right for all peoples, treat females with dignity & respect, quit torturing and abusing dogs and accept Israel then they want be jihadist anymore and want needed killing.
Nick| 8.22.11 @ 6:16PM
Mr. Tomlinson,
Agreed.
And the best way to accomplish this is to defeat them by letting them meet Allah.
Occam's Tool| 8.22.11 @ 10:59PM
Well, Nick and Mike, I must agree with you. After all, consider what it took to defeat Germany and Japan in WWII, who were well under 200 million in population---2 nukes and saturation bombing.
What is it going to take to beat 1.6 Billion? How much of a beatdown before they become more pacifistic as opposed to fascistic? Kratman (who is not me, and from whom I have NO financial incentive) has an answer in CALIPHATE, and it ain't pretty. He thinks over 1 billion.
By the way, I love both of you guys' posts. Great work!

If Obama were to step down, that would be a bad thing - He's the worst excuse for a president in all of American history, but at least for him his celebrity has died with the liberals (THEIR lack of attn span has killed him off - same thing he accused us of) . He's yesterday's gadget. Although his being in the WH will make the job harder for the next person that's in there (STILL have not heard jack about illegal immigration from Perry - the one thing holding back 100% support), for the most part Obama has been rendered useless, but if he abdicates then who runs in his place? Obama ain't too black - he's too red but until those talking heads on the air quit treating him like he's deserved of respect, he is staying put.

"We've got to come together." (And do what I want to do) "We have to stop bickering, and do what is Necessary, for the Country." (I want to RAISE TAXES, so I can SPEND MORE MONEY) "We need people to set aside their differences to get things done." (Republicans need to STFU, and DO WHAT I SAY. So let it be written. So let it be done)
Surprised?
He's a BULLSH*T ARTIST. If you've ever known any Bullsh*t Artists, you know that they don't know how to DO anything. They just RUN THEIR MOUTHS. And, they can't take any BLAME, because they're not really MEN.
He's never had a REAL JOB, in his life. Never got his hands dirty, broke a sweat, or got a callous, in his life. He is NOT a Professor of the Constitution. He did NOT teach any classes. He was a Guest Speaker. He came in and RAN HIS MOUTH. That's what Bullsh*tters do. They run their mouths.
They LIE.
And, in this sense, he is the KING of the Bullsh*tters.
His list of LIES is too long to go in to, again. Let's just say that, he hasn't told THE TRUTH, once. From PROMISING to take Public Financing for his Campaign, if McCain agreed to do, also (McCain DID go the Public Finance Route. B.S. Boy did not) to being oh so Transparent (He is just the OPPOSITE) to not having Lobbyists in his Administration, and Putting Legislation up on the Internet for 72 hours before a vote. CSPAN, Guantanamo, Renditions, The Patriot Act.............
You get the picture.
But, this is different. This one is BIG. The swagger is gone. I see FEAR in his eyes. I see DESPERATION. He's tried all of the Liberal Solutions. He has recited the Progressive Bible by heart. MORE TAXES. TAX THE RICH. Support the UNIONS. REWARD our Friends and PUNISH our Enemies. STOP Drilling for Oil. DESTROY the Coal Industry. Curb the Fishing Industry.
REGULATE Business, til they do your bidding.
You know: Paul Krugman 101.
He's used Keynesian Stimulus, to REWARD his friends. No Roads. No Bridges. No new Electrical Grids. No New Infrastructure. NO JOBS.
He used the HUNDREDS OF BILLION$ to shore up his Core Support. Funneling the money to the States, for their PUBLIC SECTOR UNIONS.
That would be: Robert Reich 101, I believe.
Now, he's got nothing. He ignores his Oath of Office, and THE LAW, by going around Congress, at every turn. He is willing to FLOOD THIS COUNTRY with ILLEGALS, to hold on to power.
He's not that different from Khaddafi. He's not that different from Assad. In fact, he's just like GOEBELS.
He's out there, now, REPEATING THE SAME LIES, over and over and over, again. That's how The BIG LIE is done. You have to repeat it, over and over and over, again. And it has to be a WHOPPER! Something like....Oh, I don't know....."I've been the President for almost 3 Years, but, I'm not responsible for anything that's happened, during that time. George Bush did it. The Republicans in the House are to blame. And, if only people would do what I say, we'd be sitting pretty. There's nothing wrong with America. There's something wrong with everyone in Washington EXCEPT, ME."
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to Martha's Vineyard, for 10 days at a 28 Acre, Ocean Front, Estate, where I can enjoy the beach, listen to the waves, eat Lobster and Caviar, the Finest Steaks your money can buy, drink some Fine Wines, maybe some Champagne, and smoke Cigars, as I continue to FOCUS ON JOBS like a Laser Beam, and contemplate the SHARED SACRIFICE, that we must ALL endure, if we're gonna get back on our feet, again."

When he is crushed at the polls and the Senate is culled of another class of radicals and RINOs, Obama will accuse Americans of racism, but we will be rid of him forever.
We should put the pressure on the democrats in the Senate to pass a set of real budgets based on the Ryan bill. Publicly threaten to stop all authorizations and appropriations without it - No continuing resolutions beyond defense, medicare and social security. Pick a date. Beside being on the wrong end of public opinion, the democrat Senate is violating the Congressional Budget Act of 1975. Continuing to spend without a plan is the definition of fiscal irresponsibility.

Ineffective? Obama's war in Libya is won unlike the two disasters left him by you know who. A world map was presented to Ms. Bachmann and she was asked to find Libya. Two hours later she pointed to Liberia. Well she got the right continent this time. Who knows maybe she can pass a third grade geography test yet.

And maybe that @sshole in the white house can count stars on the US flag next time he mentions 57 states!
Drunken Sailor| 8.22.11 @ 9:52AM
Bob,
I knew it was only a matter of time before you liberals, jumped on the "Obama won a war" theme but explain something to me. Obama himself said he did not need Congressional approval because we were not going to provide any "Kinetic Action" but only provide support. So if he did not need Congress to go to war how in the hell can he win a war we never went into??
If he wants to say he won the war, fine. Then we should proceed with impeachment hearings for getting involved in a war without Congressional Approval. If he didn't need approval because we were not in the war, then stop giving him credit for it. For once NATO got something done.
Diana| 8.22.11 @ 10:18AM
Who is the dominant power in NATO? Who is the leader of this dominant power?
Drunken Sailor| 8.22.11 @ 10:23AM
Silly question and a false argument.
We are the dominant power, but even then our constitution says the president can not declare war or commit troops without Congressional approval. So which is it Diana? Obama sent us into a war, without Congressional approval, and declares victory, or as Obama said, he did not need Congressional approval to provide support and a non-kinetic role? I've been in a combat zone. You do not win a war without kinetic action. Your either in the game or a spectator..
Drunken Sailor| 8.22.11 @ 10:28AM
Diana,
I almost forgot to mention as well. In Libya, France is calling the shot, not the US. If anyone can claim victory in Libya, it would be a rare French victory.
Diana| 8.22.11 @ 11:00AM
France doesn't intervene without a green light from the US. Also why didn't the GOP led House of Representatives stop the President. As usual a lot of bluster and no action from Republicans. At least the President took the iniative, didn't micromanage, left it to others and won the war.
Drunken Sailor| 8.22.11 @ 11:17AM
Your delusional sweetheart. France did lead on this. And once again if the President took action without Congressional approval then you agree he committed a impeachable defense. As usual a lot of bluster from the Liberals.

Here is how a real Commander-in-Chief responds to a successful mission.
George W. Bush speech after the capture of Saddam:
The success of yesterday's mission is a tribute to our men and women now serving in Iraq . The operation was based on the superb work of intelligence analysts who found the dictator's footprints in a vast country. The operation was carried out with skill and precision by a brave fighting force. Our servicemen and women and our coalition allies have faced many dangers in the hunt for members of the fallen regime, and in their effort to bring hope and freedom to the Iraqi people. Their work continues, and so do the risks. Today, on behalf of the nation, I thank the members of our Armed Forces and I congratulate 'em.
Here is how a user and abuser of special operators and the military talks after a successful (not the number of I's and emphasis on the speaker).
Barack Obama speech after the killing of bin Laden:
And so shortly after taking office, I directed Leon Panetta, the director of the CIA, to make the killing or capture of bin Laden the top priority of our war against al Qaeda, even as we continued our broader efforts to disrupt, dismantle, and defeat his network. Then, last August, after years of painstaking work by our intelligence community, I was briefed on a possible lead to bin Laden. It was far from certain, and it took many months to run this thread to ground. I met repeatedly with my national security team as we developed more information about the possibility that we had located bin Laden hiding within a compound deep inside of Pakistan. And finally, last week, I determined that we had enough intelligence to take action, and authorized an operation to get Osama bin Laden and bring him to justice. Today, at my direction, the United States launched a targeted operation against that compound in Abbottabad , Pakistan.

Obozo's trolls call it leading from behind; I call it rump leadership from an ass.
RCV| 8.22.11 @ 8:00PM
Congressional authorization was not needed, and should not have been sought. The Constitution didn't envision 535 Commanders in Chief. Every President has rightly viewed the War Powers Act as unconstitutional since it was enacted, and most legal scholars concur.
We've been harping for years for our European allies to bear a greater share of the NATO burden, and this time Obama made them step up to the plate. Europe has a more immediate interest in Libya and should have borne the brunt of military burden.
I did notice a number of American flags being waved by the Libyans in Martyrs Square in Tripoli last night.
Anthony| 8.22.11 @ 8:48PM
Really, no congressional authorization was necessary eh, what section of the Saul Alinsky Rules for the Constitution can I find that?
Didn't that moron Biteme threaten Bush with impeachment if Bush didn't seek congressional authority?
BTW, was this NATO group part of the bribed and the coerced, or did that only apply to Bush ???
How is it that Obozo is the only president in the last century that didn't have to seek congressional authority?
It must be next to the same clause in the Alinsky Constitution that allows Obozo to suspend a congressional act on alien deportation by executive ORDER!!

RCV,
I missed Pan Am Flight 103 by only SIX days. By the grace of God, I picked December 15th as the day I would come home on leave, since I was serving in the Army in 1988, stationed in West Germany.
I flew the same route home, Frankfurt to London to the U.S, on Pan Am Airlines. I wasn't on the Flight 103, as my flight wasn't a 747.
I only had a limited number of leave days accrued, and I remember debating with myself about when I should come home. Should I leave close to Christmas, so that I could be home for couple of days after New Year's Day? Or, should I leave earlier, so that I would have more time to Christmas shop?
I could have easily picked the 21st as my date of departure. I bought my ticket sometime in October, and could easily have been stuck with that flight, on that day. I'm sure the terrorists had finalized the date when I purchased my ticket, so, God knew the day and flight. The day it happened, when I found out, I thanked God and my guardian angel for guiding my choice.
21 years later, on Christmas day 2009, the terrorist Abdulmutallab tried to repeat Lockerbie, over the Detroit area, as I celebrated the Birth of Our Savior at my sister's house. When I found out the details of this attempt, I thanked God again for not only saving my life, and my family's, but also the people on the plane.
I don't know if I was ever in any danger because I don't think they have ever released where the plane was when he tried to set-off the bomb, but I might have been. Certainly hundreds of lives were in danger that day.
By the grace of God, we will not have to remember Northwest Flight 253 as we do Pan Am Flight 103, today.
It's funny how close we all come to death during our lives, but never become aware of how close we really came. I, on the other hand, can recite many instances of when I could have, or should have, died, but did not. I give all credit to God Almighty.

The BATF and the FBI say they're not involved, the liberal Congressmen keep on with the mantra to ban guns, and the gun lobby keeps up the pressure. So who is to blame? There's bullsh-- somewhere, even the Mexican government and us too can smell it!
The government will not admit to anything, regardless of the jest of their argument. We're in a situation were Obama tries this or that, as long as it is Kenyesian, and when it falls flat he tries it again and again. The government is full of lies, to the point it spills over.
Boar Hunter| 8.22.11 @ 12:59PM
The picture is a misrepresentation. Sorry, I wish I could direct you to the site, but I can't recall where I saw it. A few weeks back there was one (Maybe Moonbattery?) who posted a bunch of photo's showing Obama's feet up on every piece of furniture in the white house. Why does Russia get Putin and we get this effeminate, no baseball throwin, sandal wearing, no flag saluting, girly bike ridin liar and lover of lies?
Reagan always wore a jacket in the oval office as a sign of respect. Obama has no respect for anyone other than himself. Mrs Obama was just photographed in a limo with her baseball cap and headphones on and they have the gall to compare her to other first ladies in a positive way. These people have no class and no amount of money will but it for them.
They referred to Bush as a cowboy, thinking this was an insult. How ironic that they sent the black Beverly Hillbillies to the white house.

Resignation (or recall) rather defeats the point of elections having consequences. A candidate is elected to accomplish various goals that appeal to the majority of the electorate as determined by an election. Obama was elected to increase socialism, hinder various buisnesses and show that a black man can be president; Bush was elected to increase cronyism and prove that a being drunk doesn't prevent performance of presidential functions.

No. He's NOT detached-from-reality. No he knows exaclty what he's doing. It takes a lot of reading and studying to go from "this is a mess--he doesn't know what he's doing" to---"he knows exactly what he is doing and this is deliberate." We need more Americans to become informed and more than "sound bite" passive listeners.
I do think, however, it is a mistake to put so much emphasis on the financial aspects of his regime. It is our liberties which are waning. What about de facto illegal alien citizenship? What about gun rights? What about Obamacare? What about Libya without Congressional approval? What about free speech? What about his administration's "selective" enforcement of U.S. laws or are we completely under the thumb of the United Nations? His latest hit is on farmers.

Actually, if Darrel Issa would pay a little more attention to his Congressional job, and spend a little less time on his business empire (which seems far more important to him, and is likely a disincentive for more aggressive pursuit of his Congressional investigations), he might have already gotten deeper in to the Fast and Furious fiasco and provided solid grounds for impeachment, and we wouldn't have to wait for abdication. Of course, the Republican leadership in the House and Senate would have to get behind this investigation, and so far they have shown no stomach for it. Issa should be issuing subpoenas for documents and for testimony, not accept the White House delays, obfuscations, and refusals to respond. He should be demanding documents, litigating refusals, pushing against any "executive privilege" claims the White House might hide behind, and fight a decent fight on the Fast and Furious issue. He doesn't look like he's going to do that, though, and Republican leadership appears to be AWOL on this fight. If this isn't a high crime or at least a misdemeanor, then we have no law worth the term. What about it, Mr. Issa? Why don't you step up? What are you waiting for?
Boar Hunter| 8.22.11 @ 1:17PM
I can answer that, Issa is a coward. I don't know if it's just in his political nature or if someone has dirt over his head he does not want to see the light of day.

During his life–he stole at least three cars, stole his multi-million dollar business, stole patents, fired an employee at gunpoint, committed arson and insurance fraud, at a plant (and then the detective investigating it mysteriously “died”), lied about his military record, was caught carrying a concealed weapon and ammunition including tear gas (believed to be for the purpose of committing armed robbery), and even stealing one of his fellow soldier’s cars."

Impeach Obama
And then find and support the strongest “conservative" Republican we can to stand up to the liberals on both the Democrat and Republican sides. These cowardly appeasers like John Boehner who try and sate the appetite of these bullies sickens me to my core. A bully will never be appeased, but Boehner and his hapless ilk refuse to learn this lesson.
Our society has devolved into one where people too stupid to feed themselves are protected from literally everything and everyone, either real or imagined. Sorry, but I for one have lost my tolerance for these people. We share no common ground! They are pillaging America into oblivion and they must be defeated. They are using our names to borrow money from the communist Chinese who are gleefully selling us the rope to hang ourselves with.
I am tired of this outlaw regime picking and choosing which laws they feel like enforcing and breaking every law they dislike. Obama "swore" to uphold the constitution, but violated his oath of office by ramming this Obama (doesn’t) care down the throats of the American people despite the percentage of those who openly opposed it. They don't like the defense of marriage act so they don't enforce it. Obama needs the illegal alien vote so he refuses to deport ILLEGAL aliens.
The list goes on and on. Operation Gun Runner, Holder resign? are you kidding me? Holder needs to be in prison. Holder is a racist, terrorist supporting liar and a lover of lies who has broken the law and obstructed justice. This has been proven beyond a reasonable doubt by anyone who reviews the publicly available record of Holder’s own lies. The Obama administration is full of these scurrilous totalitarian vermin. Impeach Obama, Holder in prison Palin beats Joe “OMG I can’t believe he said that” Biden in the next election and I will die a happy man.

Lately, we Americans are getting a feeling of ‘deja-Bush’, eerie thoughts that this has somehow all happened before. We elected a man smarter than most of us and even if he wasn’t always that smart, during the swearing in ceremony and immediately after he said “I promise to ….”, his IQ increased by 75 points and all our petty problems would soon be solved, thanks be to the Obama.
Bush had his military challenge early in his presidency, wild eyed fanatics bent on our destruction. Obama, too, had his challenge early in his presidency, wild eyed Wall St. bankers bent on our destruction. And in the beginning we were optimistic, at least over 50% of us were - our new president rode into Washington D. C. on an ass, with Americans of all creeds and tax brackets laying palm branches at his feet. Our hearts were lodged in our throats and we couldn’t wait for that promised Hope to become a reality.
But now it feels eerily familiar to those waning days of 2008, our President is surely a putz, everybody says so, he can’t do anything right. America has become an international joke, we owe foreign loan sharks more money than even Bill Gates and Warren Buffet possess, the Albanians are undecided over whether they should risk buying an additional $100,000 in Treasury Bills , the Chinese are all secretly laughing at the sly insults being inserted into Joe Biden’s fortune cookies and those Swiss gold brokers are praying we’ll give Obama four more years. Another failed presidency, maybe there’s something wrong with us Americans. Nah, that can’t be it, there’s nothing wrong with us, maybe next time we should just elect a woman or perhaps an Eskimo.
Oldefarte| 8.22.11 @ 1:45PM
What happened to all of that HOPE&CHANGE;? The morons/imbeciles/dummies of this country who voted for him on 11/4/08 should have the guts to admit their stupidity in doing so. All this excrement about Bush/Republicans this, that and the other makes me want to puke. Any five year old child would kiss the ground if Bush/McCain/any Republican was POTUS at this point. McCain has his faults, but this country would on the economic/fiscal/monetary mend if he had been elected instead of this incompetitent radical boob with his worthless Harvard law degree. It's obvious some [gladly not all and not the intelligent ones] of the tea party people here obviously voted for Mr. H&C and now are too ashamed to admit same hypocritically. BH, sadly I think it's possible. Many are Johnny-Come-Laties whose sole concentration has been upon a combination of Obama/Democrats/RINOS/CINOS etc. This political struggle has been going only way longer than that, since this economic/financial governmental buildup cascading into the current defecit/debt can easily be traced back to Kennedy-Johnson's Great Society and War On Poverty programs [which are still being funding by the federal government and taxpayers], yet these subjects are insanely ignored within tea partiers' rants [either they are too young to remember same are too ignorant to do so]!!!!
cowgirl| 8.22.11 @ 1:52PM
Mr. Hillyer - although I tend to agree whole-heartedly with your analysis in this well-written article, I for one would like to see Obama not leave office on a resignation, but that of impeachment. With issues like Fast & Furious and the complete disregard to the laws of this country - recently his take on immigration policies - it would be much better for him to be impeached in disgrace and send the message to other "would be Marxists like Obama" that "messing with our Constitution and the Judeo-Christian principles that this country was built upon" are not tolerated. We believe in the ideas of capitalism, free markets and the value of individuals, not elitist, academic, Marxists, statist principles. And Mr. Obama, if you don't like the United States and the principles that we stand for, we will be more than happy to buy you a one-way ticked to Cuba.

Isn't it interesting how Obama and the Leftists love seeing other countries overtaken by Islam, yet wouldn't want to live there?
~Or maybe I'm just imagining things< heh.
Oldefarte| 8.22.11 @ 4:40PM
No Marg, you're completely accurate. Oldefarte| 8.24.11 @ 12:48PM
Regardless of what Israel/Bibi proclaims, I still maintain that when this all finalizes, that the Muslim Brotherhood etc takeover of these Arab countries will not be a good thing for either Israel or the entire western world. Let's delay this disagreement for a year and see what the outcome is then. Speaking of Bibi, you'll remember that he also diplomatically kept silent after Obama asininely treated him rudely at a recent white house meeting, and thereafter stormed out of same disrespectfully [so I would not put too much stock in public appearances regarding worldly political matters; its what's said in private afterwards that is of critical concern]. Remember also that Obama's administration is subversively in favor of the UN's grant of statehood to Palistine, which is highly irritating to Israel and Bibi. Don't think for a minute that there's any love lost between Netanyahu and the Obama administration, because there is not!!!!!!!
Oldefarte| 8.22.11 @ 4:33PM
I agree with your impeachment sentiments 150%, but politically speaking this would become a disaster since the leftist radicals would immediately scream propaganda of RACISM, DISENFRANCHISEMENT, DISCRIMINATION, GNETRIFICATION etc and discount any political headwinds successfully accompolished by the tea party movement [and possible to the extent of re-electing him next year]. IMO, the best political strategy would be for the Republicans holding 1/3 of government to continue to destroy any political spending initiatives that he and Democrats put forward [ie stimulation/spending] until next November and then for the American voters to vote for whichever Republican is nominated for POTUS!!!!
cowgirl| 8.23.11 @ 8:58AM
Of course the liberals, leftists would scream and pitch a fit. This was most toddlers do when they don't get their way. However, legalize drugs just before the impeachment hearings and while the leftist radicals are smoking weed, popping pills and shooting up we can slip by with the impeachment.

Time and time again Obama bends over for the right only to take it in the rear and be called to task for it by his own party. At no time does the other party acknowledge his compromises that make it possible for them to (get 98% of what they asked for). And the markets took their dive after the R's got their 98%. Now they are against their own plan to extend the payroll tax break into next year because he suggested it.
The R's got in the the house in 2010 by campaigning on Jobs but have offered no jobs bill and obstructed everything put forth by the Dems. then they changed our focus from jobs to debt reduction and said that is what they were elected to do.
You probably are that stupid. Good thing the American people are not.

Few words: Every time he opens his big mouth, the Professor reminds Americans of the smug stupidity and destructiveness of the Left. Given a culture that's pretty far gone already, Americans need that kind of reminding. Constantly.
And now back to "The Adventures of Robin Hood" (1938), in which Claude Rains plays the wicked Prince John to much better effect than the Professor plays at being President.

Abdication, Impeachment, all pipe dreams.
The Leftist Czars, the CS appointees, AKA Lind Jackson for example, all remain in control. Obama for all his rhetoric is simply guiding the movement machine. While the Electorate defended their fiscal bulwarks, the regulatory entrails ensnared the USA to a point of near GNP stagnation. EXACTLY the Center for American progress plan of 2008. A quick review of thier white papers clearly show the Movement is alive and well.
Abdication by Obama would be nice, admittedly, but the problem would and does remain.

Your writing flows lyrically off the tongue. Can't say that about many writers these days. In fact, I can't think of anyone who reads so well aloud.
My husband and I have shouted many of the same things at the TV or radio, after hearing the President's speaking engagements, where he tells us what he's told us, and then tells us again what's wrong with us, instead of what's wrong with him. Hyperbole is the way we remain sane too. We shall dream with you while we wait semi-patiently for November, and then watch the results with our fingers and toes crossed.

No way in hell is President Obama going to resign. He is convinced that we are a greedy culture and need 'fundamental' change. And he is doing just that, to the best of his ability.
The thing that really gets me: "We need to pass this bill so that you can find out what is in it."
This is a direct threat to the republic. The next time Republicans get majorities, why don't they pass a bill that gets rid of Social Security? Then they can figure out what is in it. Or better yet, a bill that makes all property owners votes count as five votes. After the bill becomes law, they can figure out what is in it. How can anyone work with that?
No wonder our country is so badly divided. And I thought that President Obama was supposed to bring us all together as he 'reached across the aisle'. It looks as if he is accomplishing this about as well as how well the stimulus package is working out.
