If someone looked at your face while watching President Obama
make a speech or hold a press conference, I’ll bet it would reflect
pain and discomfort. Your facial expression might be described as a
grimace. There are a number of reasons for that kind of reaction.
It might not even matter whether you are liberal or conservative.
There is much about Mr. Obama’s style and content that repels
rather than attracts.
For example, the man is tiresomely repetitive. How many
times has he used the terms “millionaires and billionaires,”
“shared sacrifice,” and “corporate jet owners”? He gives new
meaning to the term ad nauseam. Most of what he repeats
wasn’t worth saying the first time. You’re left wondering, “Is that
all you’ve got?”
Saying the same thing over and over makes you totally
predictable and uninteresting. Mr. Obama has become tedious and
boring.
How many times has he told us that creating jobs is going
to be his number one priority? Has it ever happened? His
“credibility gap” is growing wider than LBJ’s.
A particularly annoying aspect of Mr. Obama’s personality
is that he has virtually no sense of humor. There are very good
reasons why humor is categorized as a “sense.” Humor is akin to a
sense of taste or sense of balance. Individuals vary widely in
regard to these characteristics. Successful comedians have inherent
and highly developed senses of what’s funny and what’s not. They
are “naturals.” Of course, there are people on the other end of the
spectrum, such as Mr. Obama.
It’s painful when people with no sense of humor attempt to
be funny. Mr. Obama frequently makes lame attempts at being funny,
and people in the room usually laugh, particularly members of the
press. If you listen, however, what you hear is an uncomfortable,
polite, and brief kind of laugh.
Mr. Obama makes use of awkward and unusual figures of
speech. One glaring example that I’ve never figured out is the
title of his second book, The Audacity of Hope. I realize
it is a phrase he took from his mentor and long-time pastor,
Jeremiah Wright. Wherever it came from, what in the world does it
mean? It is typical of most of what Mr. Obama says. I suppose that
it was meant to sound profound, but if you think about it, it’s
anything but.
In the midst of the health care debate Mr. Obama said,
“There’s something about August going into September where
everybody in Washington get’s all wee-weed up. I don’t know what it
is, but that’s what happens.” So far as anyone could determine, no
one had ever used the term “all wee-weed up” previously. Later the
White House explained that it meant wetting the bed. That still
doesn’t make any sense. Let’s just say, the man is not a great
communicator. Articulate he is not.
Recently in the debt limit negotiations Mr. Obama warned
the Republicans, “don’t call my bluff.” That’s just weird. Anyone
with half a brain knows that a basic requirement of a bluff is that
you don’t let it be known that you’re bluffing. Admitting that
you’re bluffing cancels its effect. If you admit that you’re
bluffing, you are sure to be called on it.
Mr. Obama is often cloyingly folksy. One obvious example
is his insincere and frequent use of the word “folks.” A similar
lame attempt at sounding like a down-home good-old-boy is the
dropping of the g in words like going, doing, etc. It just makes
him sound phony. Mr. Obama is attempting to act a part, but he’s
not a very good actor. Watching bad acting is no fun.
The odds are looking better all the time that Mr. Obama
will be a one-term president. There’s a good chance we will only be
burdened with his tiresome style for another eighteen
months.

Listening to Obama is a lot like listening to any college sophomore on a hobby horse, or listening to your fourteen-year-old endlessly repeat himself.
I no longer think Obama is the antichrist; I think even Satan is tired of him.
Michael Tomlinson| 8.12.11 @ 7:40AM
Appleby I'm sympathetic to your feeling about Barack Obama, but weren't you be a little harsh on college sophomores and 14 year olds?
Occam's Tool| 8.12.11 @ 12:22PM
Actually, my eight year old daughter is a deeper economic thinker than Barack. She thinks he's a moron, by the way---she doesn't understand the concept of earning money then being forced to give it away to people who do not work as a good thing.
W| 8.12.11 @ 12:58PM
That is because your daughter's IQ is higher, and she is smarter.
Ask her how many states in the USA.
Occam's Tool| 8.12.11 @ 4:17PM
Thank you, W. My daughter has also seen some things---she was born in Guatemala, lived in New Zealand, and Kentucky, New Mexico, and Minnesota.

Anytime I see Obama getting ready to make a speech i turn to a feminine hygiene or erictile dysfunction commercial. They are just as annoying but at least I know that in 60 seconds it will be over.

No -- I have heard from too many of the Zero ilk to whom it is still 1968 that their parents (that is, anybody who tells them No) are (1) evil incarnate, (2) too stupid to live; and (3) stingy.
I heard *interviews* with a few of the teen thugs in Britain who except for their atrocious grammar and accents sounded a good deal like Obama vis-a-vis helping themselves to Other Peoples Stuff. I wonder where they learned this?

What is Bushism, and why do you dislike Bush? This is a softball question for you to let it all hang out.
Alan Brooks| 8.12.11 @ 9:11PM
IMO Bush (similar to the Kennedys) had as his ulterior motive his dynasty-- all else was secondary or tertiary.
Bushism, as Kennedyism, is based on the clan being above all else- and thus anything is done to promote clan even at the expense of the national interest.
W| 8.12.11 @ 9:24PM
What did Bush 1 or 2 do to promote the clan, and how did it promote the clan?

He will pull a Carter and try to undermine his replacement from the moment he is ousted. Sigh...
John S| 8.14.11 @ 5:36AM
There is no way he will follow the class actions of Bush? That's quite a statement.
There are places Busch cant even go because he will be arrested. He is in Texas hiding under his Mother's skirt.
After destroying the American economy, starting 2 wars and spending like a drunken sailor, you fault Obama fro trying to clean up the mess he left.
Same thing happened to Clinton, he had to clean up the mess Reagan and Bush 1 left.
Funny how Republicans leave such a mess when they leave office for Dems to wade through and fix.
On top of that, they have all of their right wing minions in the congress and senate STOP BLOCK & FILIBUSTER every attempt to do right for the country.
With no ideas of their own all they can do is destroy the attempts of others.
What a pathetic bunch.

Okay, Obama had overwhelming majorities in both houses of Congress, and could proceed unimpeded with his agenda for 2 years. What has he accomplished? Right with you on this one. I am already on blood pressure medication - watching him is outright painful - making me want to scream at the TV or the web cast. Is he so stupid and arrogant that he will not listen to his 'handlers'? Where are his speech writers?
His solution to a problem seems to be to go play another round of golf, Or how about another $2B trip to India. Perhaps another party.
When Barry comes on, I change the channel. The only thing I want to hear him say is that he does not want to surpass Carter and become the worst President ever and has therefor decided to resign, effective immediately. At least Biden might provide some comic relief until 2012.
Chalkdust| 8.12.11 @ 1:17PM

Most of us are not surprised at arrogance in someone who has either earned their wealth, position, or prestige, or was given it by virtue of birth. It's not a likeable trait, it's just not surprising.
The maddening thing about Obama is that he has done nothing, either before or after becoming President, to 'earn' his arrogance.
mister Z| 8.12.11 @ 8:32AM
And, I should have added:
Not only has Obama done nothing to 'earn' his arrogance, his every action and inaction since becoming President are sources of discredit, not acclaim.
scotchieguy| 8.12.11 @ 10:06AM
He is 100% full of sh*t. He must think, how did I get this gig? This was TOO easy. The MSM are the biggest suck-ups in the history of the world. They give me a free pass evcry time. The only time they attack me, ever, is through my press secretary.
The only question is how did he get this gig. Who is this imposter? Will we ever find out who he really is, and who sent him to become our prez.
The only thing worse than someone being arrogant, is someone being arrogant when they have nothing to show for it. This guy is a total fraud. The people I really feel sorry for are the black community. He set race relations back fifty years, and they still would vote for him. I always feel sorry for the one who got duped. Think about it. Even after this trainwreck of a presidency, he STILL has a 40% approval. So much for polls.
Claypoole| 8.12.11 @ 4:20PM
If BO is nominated again by the Democrats to head their ticket in 2012 (not a sure thing, if his approval numbers continue to go south), will anyone in the MSM actually dig into his past and report what they find? I can't imagine that he'll get another complete pass on anything that isn't flattering. Surely there must be some reporters/journalists in the mainstream who love their country more than they do Obama.
Pelligrino| 8.13.11 @ 8:56AM
Or journalists who just need to stand out, shine. The journalism world is full of people. It is competitive. Just look at all the names on the Am. Spectator blog roster. But how many of this very long list actually get an ariticle in the hard copy or this site?
Where are the journalists with the guts? Where are the associates of the president when he was an undergrad, a law student? Where are his Chicago students?
We don't want dirt or gossip. Facts. What did he really say? What did he write? What did he stand for or believe in? Did he ever help a friend or acquaintance at great personal cost of time, money, and maybe reputation or standing? Did he ever do things that were good but would generate him no credit?
Why the silence from all the parishoners in Jeremiah Wright's church? Are none of them really believers?
I guess they aren't experiencing the pain of our economy, no jobs for college grads, no losses of life in Iraq/Afghanistan, and the direct results of their fellow pew sitter's incredibly poor and godless leadership (if he was really all that often there).
There ought to be countless people who can shed light on who this man is, what he stands for, what he's done in 30 years of adult life.

Don’t forget about Freddy's Fashion Mart in 195, a Jewish owned store, that Al Sharpton’s National Action Network had been picketing for months because of a landlord/tenant dispute (the tenant was Black, of course). Sharpton’s flunky Roland Smith lit a fire inside the store, after telling the Black People inside to get out, and then he burned the place down, leading to 8 deaths (including Smith’s). NBC should be ashamed of themselves, for hiring this murderer, liar, race baiting, POS. But they’re not!! Hey Michael, They think he is great because of all the adjectives you wrote about him. Liberals have always fascinated me with how they look at the world !!!!!

What's scary is that all of those characteristics you related in your second paragraph are his good points! After that comes the left-wing ideology.
Timothy L. Pennell| 8.12.11 @ 7:32AM
It's much WORSE than all that.
"While walking up a flight of stairs, I met a man who wasn't there."
There's nothing to Obama. He hasn't DONE anything. He hasn't ANY experience in doing ANYTHING, save running his MOUTH. And he doesn't do THAT very well, without the help of his indispensable Teleprompter, and the words SOMEONE ELSE wrote for him. He even took it to an Elementary School Classroom. The SUIT is EMPTY.
I'm told that he was NEVER a University Professor. That he NEVER taught the Constitution. That he has NEVER held a JOB. He was a GUEST SPEAKER, invited to RUN HIS MOUTH.
There are few things that people like less, than being LECTURED by someone who's never done ANYTHING in his life.
And, then, there is his incessant LECTURING.
I know that there are a lot of smart people out there. People who know their History. Maybe it's just me, but, when I watch him make one of his Grand Proclamations from on high? I see MUSSOLINI. The way he STARES off, looking OVER his audience. His hand gestures. His Pauses. The look on his PUKE Face. His HUBRIS. His ARROGANCE. And, of course, the fact that he is a PATHOLOGICAL LIAR, makes it even more unbearable.
Somebody, PLEASE, name me something IMPORTANT, and EXPENSIVE, that he HASN'T lied about.
Public Financing for his campaign. No Lobbyists in his Administration. Legislation put up on the Internet for 72 Hours, before a Vote. Health Care Legislation debated on CSPAN. Pay As You Go. "I'm gonna FOCUS ON JOBS." You can keep your Doctor. You can keep your Plan. Anyone making less than $250,000 will not see ANY of their taxes raised. "I'M gonna FOCUS ON JOBS." His Health Care Plan will LOWER the costs. LOWER the taxes. Not add one DIME to the Deficit if Health Care is passed. Unemployment will be less than 8% if he got his STIMULUS. Shovel Ready Infrastructure Jobs. Close Guantanamo. End the Patriot Act. "I'm gonna FOCUS ON JOBS." End Renditions. NEVER start a WAR OF CHOICE. Will be in Libya for DAYS, not weeks. Doesn't really KNOW who Bill Ayers is. Never heard Reverend Wright say any of those things. "I'm gonna FOCUS ON JOBS."
He hasn't got a single redeeming quality.
He asks US to SACRIFICE, as he leaves on another VACATION. He's DANCING BAREFOOT, in the Rose Garden, with his MILLIONAIRE and BILLIONAIRE Hollywood Friends, who got to D.C. on their PRIVATE JETS. You know, the FAT CATS that we're supposed to HATE. And, now it's off to Martha's Vineyard.
If you're gonna SACRIFICE, you might as well do it at one of your MILLIONAIRE/BILLIONAIRE buddy's Ocean Front Estates, eating LOBSTER and sipping COGNAC.
He's painful to watch, because WE HATE HIM.

Well done,as usual.
You did hit on a personal note.

I am saving your excellent post to commit certain items to memory as I return for my final days before retiring after 29 years at a middle school. I have many liberal "friends" and I have held my tongue (somewhat) for many of those years. I will be polite, but I will not be moved. Thanks for the ammo, I have 6 weeks left, I can use it all!

Wow, this is the BEST post I have read in awhile. Thank you so much for SPELLING it all out. I'm going to copy it and put it someplace handy to refer to - each point is absolutely true and correct. Rick V.| 8.12.11 @ 7:51AM
All true, but I remain troubled for two primary reasons. First, he successfully stole the election from Hillary. No outrage from the media, no protests from the rabble, but let's face it - she had a lock and McCain was a weak, flawed candidate (thanks, RNC). Secondly, never underestimate the Republican Party's ability to implode. Everybody's waiting for, who - Perry? Palin? Elvis? Seriously, there are forces at work here that will assure the Dark Knight of a second term.
Teaghan| 8.12.11 @ 8:19AM
No outrage from the media?! They handed the office to obama on a silver platter! The msm sided against Hillary because they being the leftist media that they are, wanted to help elect the "first african american president" It was far more important than electing the first woman president. The left, despite their NOW and NARAL groups, are majorly anti-woman, especially if you're a conservative. Off the subject, sorry.

I can only make it about one minute once President Obama starts talking before I'm changing the channel again, I just can't stand listening to him anymore. He's way past worn out his welcome, now he's more like a terminal disease that starts in ones ear canal, then starts rotting your brain. Huh, what? Did you say something?
He reminds me of my old First Sergeant, he actually thinks he interesting and funny, but he's only interesting and funny because of who he is, not because he actually is. My old 1SG used to hold court, and all his flunkies would hang on his ever word, and laugh at ever attempt at a joke he made. He's retired now down in Florida, and I'm sure he uses those same old jokes on his new neighbors, and he probably wonders why they keep falling flat. "Hmm, that one used to crack them up in the Army, my neighbors must be stupid". No they're not old 1SG!! They're completely fine!! It's you!! You're not funny, and you never were!! Here's the truth, they only laughed at FT Bragg, because they didn't want to be put on some stupid detail for the entire weekend. And if laughing at one of your bad jokes was the price they had to pay to get out of that, well it was well worth selling a small piece of their souls for a free weekend. But make no mistake about it, and I want to make this perfectly clear, they weren't laughing because you really were funny, they were laughing because of who you were, you were the guy who could ruin their weekend on them. Ha, ha!!
So when we retire President Obama in January 2013, I think he should move to Florida too. I know a nice neighborhood where he could move to, right next to my old 1SG. The two of them can bore each other to death with their stupid unfunny jokes. They'll really love each other!! But even they won't be able to laugh at each other's stupid jokes!! "Hmm, that joke used to crack them up at the White House, my new neighbors must be stupid, or maybe they're all Republicans!!".

John: I'm a Paratrooper, so I've had a lot of bad landings over the years. So maybe I'm not as bright as I used to be (did I say maybe?), which would probably explain why it takes me a whole minute to realize I don't like what I'm hearing when the President starts speaking, or lecturing. They say we fall at 20 feet per second, so when you hit the ground, it really rings your bell. I'm also a full inch shorter than I used to be, shorter and dumber, be all you can be, some sort of lyric that I forgot fits in here, in the Army.
Tina B| 8.12.11 @ 12:55PM
Thank you, LLL, for losing that inch and some brain cells for my families' freedom and safety. God bless you, and I can tell He does.
Occam's Tool| 8.12.11 @ 10:00PM
Just one among the many reasons you are awesome, LLL. You know who else was a USA paratrooper? Jimi Hendrix!
Lullabys, Legends and Lies| 8.13.11 @ 8:28PM
Thanks Tina B & OT; I didn't need those brain cells anyway, I can still defeat any Liberal I meet around here without them, so I guess they were just extra baggage, and my rucksack is heavy enough as is. But I do miss the 1" I lost a lot, it turned me from 6' tall to 5'11", and I want that damn inch back!! I've got a jump next week, so maybe I'll find that inch that I lost somewhere out there on the dropzone? It's a big dropzone though?
I did not know that about Jimi Hendrix, but you're right, he was with the 101st, until he was medically discharged. I wonder if history would've been different had he fulfilled his original contract? Maybe he would've become First Sergeant Hendrix, who cracked jokes that weren't funny, but his Paratroopers laughed at them anyway? I guess we'll never know!!
flsunnygirl| 8.12.11 @ 4:19PM

The bobbing head -- moving from teleprompter to teleprompter in an abstract attempt at looking as if he is NOT looking at a teleprompter is ridiculous. Everyone knows he uses it -- even to address elementary school children -- so he might as well look right into one dead in front of him and not make me dizzy ...
William L. Gensert| 8.12.11 @ 8:09AM
There is another reason he is so difficult to watch. Every speech is essentially the same.
We’ve heard it all before.
"There is a problem caused by those who came before. Follow me, because even though they will try to stop me, only I can solve the problem. The answers to all the nation’s ills can be found in who I am and what I have done."
"Did I mention that I'm rich?"
Seapuss| 8.12.11 @ 8:10AM
Let me add to the list of Obama's annoying mannerisms.
First, the man simply CANNOT say the word "to". He always pronounces it "tuh".
Second, he whistles whenever he says a word that ends with an "S". He sounds just like Mr. Herbert on "Family Guy".
Finally, what's up with that little pseudo-athletic "hop" he does whenever he steps up onto a stage?

Occam's Tool| 8.12.11 @ 4:37PM
His law license is inactive.
This is interesting. For example, medical licenses cost money. For me to have kept the licenses I once had in KY, NM, and CA would have run me about $1,000. I chose not to renew them as I had no medical practices in those states, and no financial reason to keep them. (CA I gave up when I was practicing in AL. I have kept AL as it is where my family lives, and I might go back there one day. My wife thinks I should give it up, and I may---it's $300.00/yr, or $3000 of money towards my baby's college for something I don't use at all. I ONLY practice in Minnesota.
Barack and Michelle went inactive because they didn't practice law, apparently.

scotchieguy| 8.12.11 @ 10:55AM
The first clue that he is a fraud is his over-ennunciation of words--'we will seek social justice.' When he says 'justice,' there is something phony about the last syllable--too much 'ssss.' "Jobssss.' "Benefitsssss.' 'Appointmentsssss.' Then he throws in the 'folksy' 'gonna,' wanna, leavin', etc...like he is a blue collar guy. I can't figure the guy out. Say what you want about his wife and kids, but they seem real. Michelle seems like a really sweet person, full of life. BO seems the opposite--has he ever laughed? Someone wrote a book about presidents and came to the conclusion that we almost always elect the nicer candidate--JFK over Nixon, Bush 43 over Gore, LBJ over Goldwater...but not in '08. How did so many get duped by this guy? If he isn't a fraud, then the word has no meaning. I knew the first time I saw him speak there was something wrong about the guy--he is just weird, creepy, he is a really unattractive, unhappy person, strange dude. He is not cool, he is cold, icy, he is not real. He is not a person.

ALL SOUND AND FURY SIGNIFYING NOTHING
The truly painful part of haveing to listen to President Obama is his total inability to say anything. He has become all but irrelevant, nothing more than a bobble head standing before a teleprompter.
Cases in point. Has he said anything meaningful about the debt crisis? No, not really. He has said over and over again what we need is a ballanced approach. No, what we need is a ballanced budget. He has said tax the rich more, but somehow missed explaining just exactly where the tax money from the rich is going to go. Is it going to go into paying down our national debt, or go into even more governmental spending? He has said we need a national health care plan, and then forgot to mention just how we pay for the monster. His lips move, sound comes out, and in the end, the sound signifies nothing.
At some point even the MSM will give up. They can't continue to give positive coverage to a vacume of thought. At some point one reporter or another is going to ask a killer question, and the President will fumble it. No teleprompters around to help answer questions. Then the blood letting will begin. At least, that is my hope.
So, when the President speaks I switch channels. Even Sponge Bob is more intertaining. I've learned lots now watching Myth Buster re-runs. Perhaps in that there is some value to the sound, and my fury, whenever he even opens his mouth.
R Martin| 8.12.11 @ 8:40AM
Yes, we all agree Obama is a tiresome little tick. But if he does manage to fool the country a second time and get re-elected, it will not be because of what he said, it will be because of what he did. I'm talking about his October Surprise (2012), and my pick is that he will bomb Iran's nuclear reactor.
Granny Jan | 8.12.11 @ 8:49AM

VBMax| 8.12.11 @ 9:37AM

Ground Control| 8.12.11 @ 11:09AM
I see no reason to doubt your assessment. After all, Clinton bombed the Sudan and Iraq just to keep Monica Lewinski's grand jury testimony out of the headlines. Carter tried to swing a deal with the Soviets over the Iranian hostage crisis to influence the 1980 election. Maybe O'Bozo will bomb somebody to swing the 2012 election? Why wouldn't he? What has he to lose? "Credibility"?!
By the way, don't expect that a defeated O'Bozo will just fade away. He is neither old, nor a soldier. He will plaster his mug all over the Media following his involuntary retirement from the White House. His annoying speeches will turn into brainless punditry, as he becomes a regular on various and sundry "news" programs, offering his "intelligence" and "judgement" in criticizing his successor and vainly defending his own record of failure. Maybe even a stint on "60 Minutes?" One thing is certain, no matter how much audiences ignore him, he will always have an outlet for his stupidity in the Main Stream Media.
Occam's Tool| 8.12.11 @ 12:32PM
No, no he won't bomb the Iranians. He likes them.
His October 2012 surprise will be them announcing they have the bomb and nuking the US Mediterranean fleet. But his supporters will blame Israel and vote for him anyway.
sablegsd| 8.13.11 @ 1:49AM
I think he will bomb Israel.

"Mr. Obama is attempting to act a part, but he's not a very good actor. Watching bad acting is no fun."
I agree he is terrible at it, I see nothing different in his bad acting than what I say during his campaigning before he became our 'lecturer-and-chief' or 'scolder-and-chief'.The only problem is that considering that there is a whole sector of our society that watches terrible acting these days on TV he seems to fit right in.

When I think of his attempts at humor, I am reminded of a scene in "The Sopranos."
Someone told Tony Soprano that people laughed at his jokes, funny or not, so he conducted an experiment. He told an unfunny joke.
All of his flunkies laughed. One - his enemy - just stood there with a sour puss, sharpening a knife.
The other, his only real friend (forgot his name) and the only character in the entire series who didn't betray him, didn't get the joke (which wasn't), and sat there with a puzzled expression on his face.

So glad you brought it up: just WHAT THE HELL does AUDACITY OF HOPE MEAN? Audacious: extremely bold or daring; recklessly brave; fearless: an audacious explorer; extremely original; without restriction to prior ideas; highly inventive: an audacious vision of the city's bright future. Even the title of his ghost written vainglorious BS book is a head banger. Audacity to HOPE? WTF? I long ago stopped listening to this faux pres for all the reasons everyone mentioned. In addition: can anyone look at his eyes and not get a case of the jim-jams? Get seriously creeped out? Whatever is lurking in there ain't pretty. And since the scent of garlic isn't my first perfume of choice, forearming oneself to endure another Obama visitation has become a messy and stinky affair. No thanks.

Speaking of titles, the worse one is Dreams from My Father -- marxist, alcoholic, muslim, alien and all around failure at everything other than drinking himself to death. Quite a subject for hero worship to say nothing or disqualification from being president. I know, picky, picky but Bill Ayres should have thought ahead on the implications of using that for a title given the putative father's bio.

What we are witnessing is a very painful experience for this country, the citizens and frankly, at a personal level for Barry. He cannot seem to come to grips with the fact that he has made himself irrelevant. The political process will move forward with Barry as an observer, not a participant.
I see the possibility of one of the following:
1. Barry is defeated in the primaries by another who will come forward to salvage as much as possible of the Democratic Party and liberal philosophy. Barry will completely unable to handle this defeat at a personal level and will refuse to attend the inauguration of the new President in 2013 demonstrating how he has no class.
2. Barry is defeated in the general election. The Democratic Party will suffer such massive damage at the national level that they will become irrelevant. There will be a realignment of both parties and the existing Democratic Party will dissolve as the Whig party did in 1856. Again Barry will not attend the inauguration of the new President in 2013 demonstrating how he has no class.
3. Barry will be ‘persuaded’ not to make an effort during the primaries, clearing the way for another to step forward to carry the torch. Much will be made of his 'accomplishments' during term and he will be offered some prize ‘position’ of leadership. His replacement will stand a descent chance of overcoming a Republican challenger in the general election. IF the Republican challenger does win the general election Barry will not attend the inauguration of the new President in 2013 demonstrating how he has no class.

Outcome number one scares me the most. We know we can get rid of Obamma. It's the other guy who ever it might be, that we know nothing about. If Hillary ran, all bets are off, and we might, just might, have (God save us) another Democratic President.
Riff Raff| 8.12.11 @ 11:45AM
I never understood the appeal of Hilary, a shrill, ill-educated, arrogant, fool who really doesn't understand half as much as she thinks she does. WHY would anyone vote for Hilary? What does she bring to the table? A "RESET" button?
mister Z| 8.12.11 @ 1:39PM
Obama/Jarrett have ignored public and party sentiment since taking office, and I don't expect either of them to suddenly start doing so. Even if the democrat power brokers ask him to step aside, Obama is too arrogant to do so, even in the face of overwhelming opposition, even from his own party.
And, if he is the democrat candidate, I expect a close race that will depend largely on how well he spends his campaign funds to energize his considerable, locked-in voting base of blacks, leftists, liberals, unions, greens, and gays.

The MSM continues to present Obummer as a great speaker -- oh, so eloquent! I present to you what I said yesterday: it's all perspective. Those on the Left live in a world which consists of themselves, and of other liberals. If you've ever talked with a Liberal, you find them both very boring, and devoid of a sense of humor. What I'm sayin' is, they think Obama's eloquent because they are comparing him with AlGore, another liberal presidential candidate. You have to admit: Obama cleans AlGore's clock, when it comes to eloquence. But, it's a lot like saying that a turtle is lightning fast, when comparing it to a snail. Once you realize that liberals operate in this bubble of liberalism, and only have contact with other liberals, what they say makes perfect sense. But, it's all perspective.
We on the Right are comparing Obama's rhetorical skills with those of Reagan, for example. For us, we're comparing Mt. Whitney to an ant hill.
Ross is right, though: it's very difficult watching someone who is bad at something attempt to do that thing he's bad at. It's particularly difficult to listen to a speaker who really is devoid of a sense of humor.
Xerocky| 8.12.11 @ 12:29PM

Please let me add to the list of reasons why it's hard to watch Obama, although Mr. Ross stole my thunder by mentioning his annoying habit of dropping his g's and over use of the word 'folks' to sound...folksy:
* The annoying way he faux "jogs" on to a podium or up/down the stairs of Air Force One. His arms always in front and in that annoying position...oy
*His insincere toothy grin...oy
*His use of the words 'whole host', 'shared sacrifice' , and of course 'let me be clear'

About Mussolini, I have to admit I was surprised when I read the part about him in Jonah's "Liberal Fascism" about his stormy youthful intellectual pursuits, his brief teaching career, his study of, and hobnobbing with, leftist philosophers while in exile in Switzerland and his organizing, writing and oratory in the Italian socialist movement, his WWI service and his synthesis of various philosophers from Plato on up to design his Fascist movement.
Nowadays, most of us only know of ol' Benito from the film clips of his goofy posturing on that balcony, and he was certainly a thug above all else, but there was a lot more to him than that.
Imagine Obama having done that much? Well, he'd never get elected to dogcatcher around here with a paper trail like that, but at least he could claim some level of accomplishment.
Anthony| 8.12.11 @ 2:21PM
Yes, Jonah Goldberg's book is a must read. I found the history that Hitler was an early admirerer of Mussolini facinating.
Hitler really was a follower rather than a leader, until the egos got into the way and Hilter deemed his Nazi fascism superior to that of the Italian version.
Of course the Nazi war machine made Hitler the main character as Benito's army was not quite up to it.

Lots of smart people got snookered by Adolph Hitler also. You watch old film clips seeing people in Hitlers audiences with tears running down their faces. The right person in the right place with the right message with the right delivery with the right charisma can fool many people. When trouble or hard times hit people always look to the one who sells the "solutions" to everything. The worst part is the "and." He always says things like, "These things we must do, aaaaaand,e I think we will succeed." He is a TERRIBLE speaker. One of the things you need to do when you speak is have the crowd like you. There is nothing to like about him. Like Tiger Woods, he is not a human being--he is a machine. It is equally as painful to watch Obama speak as it is watching Tiger speak. You can tell there is no passion, no real joy in their lives. It is like they are programmed. Think about it. Obama will not settle for appearing on talk shows. He will angle for an international position, from which he can continue to pontifcate, fly around the world, dine at the finest restaurants, etc.
And of course there will be the incessant claim that his great achievements died aborning because of "racism" and Tea Party obstructionism.
The majority of the American people got what they deserved when they voted for this charlatan. Samuel Johnson is quoted as saying "Marry in haste, repent at leisure". At this point in his disaster of a Presidency Obama just turns my stomach when he makes another of his endless speeches. One would have thought his handlers would have grabbed him and told him just stop with the speeches already. No one wants to listen to them anymore. He stands there with his Mussolini on the balcony pose, chin up and his index finger touching his thumb trying to impress everyone when what he is saying is his typical brand of misinformation, disinformation, half truths and damm lies. Aces and Eights| 8.12.11 @ 12:36PM
Let's face it, Obama is annoying because he is stupid. He is a genuinely stupid person. A person of low intelligence, educated beyond his level of intelligence, and carried through every "accomplishment" of his sad little life by others. He is not self made, he is manufactured by terrorists (Ayers & Co.) and people a lot smarter than he is. Obama is the dumbest person in any room he enters. He annoys because he is smug and arrogant, despite his stupidity, and flaunts an intellect he does not possess. Obama lectures endlessly on things he clearly does not understand, parroting platitudes told to him by his handlers, his puppet masters. Barack Hussein Obama is a working definition of an "empty suit." The triumph of style (and it is a low style at that) over substance. There is no substance to this imposter of a man.
Xerocky| 8.12.11 @ 12:51PM
I agree. He's got no experience, and someone of true intelligence would have declined to run for the office that he's not qualified for. His lack of ability is based on the fact that he's had smoke blown up his ass his whole life, and he thought he was knocking everyone out with his brilliance. They weren't doing him any favors by not being real with him. He was never supposed to be the head of the Harvard Law Review, he wasn't qualified. He was a half term half wit, who, had he been put in his proper place earlier, would have thought before running for office. His proper place would be based on his accomplishments, and not...AA.

I think Obama has been thinking this way for a long time. I can see him at Havard Law, thinking thank God for the color of my skin, because there are 20 billion Jewish and Asian kids that deserve to be here more than me! The wonder of affirmative action!
sinanju| 8.12.11 @ 1:35PM
Both Obama and Michelle are examples of the "rage of a privileged class." Just as life on the dole takes away people's dignity and fills them with inchoate, destructive rage, so does affirmative action, and the knowledge that they have not earned their positions in life turn its beneficiaries into anger-driven fanatics.
Barack and Michelle and all those thousands of fellow blacks on the affirmative action gravy train know damn well they have had everything handed to them and it only makes them hate their country and seek a frankensteinian vengeance on their creator(s).
Bob Grant| 8.12.11 @ 5:49PM
Being part of the Protected Class has it's privileges indeed. So many options for the Protected Class - and nicely explained by ACORN representatives.
Cherry pick which entitlement program your little heart desires, or if you want to make something of yourself, Affirmative Action will grease the skids to higher education or a better job.
Occam's Tool| 8.12.11 @ 10:06PM
I gotta tell you, I'm of two minds about affirmative action. My baby girl Rebekita is incredibly smart, and she's a Mayan Indian from Guatemala. She's being homeschooled, and I will be unleashing her on the SATs/ACTs in 8 years. She will crush them, and then affirmative action will take over. I look forward to extorting the Ivies.
Bob Grant| 8.12.11 @ 10:20PM
Like many government initiatives, AA served it's purpose many decades ago but now it's part of this twisted social justice umbrella that is untouchable by members of the Protected Class, the soles beneficiaries of such programs.
Anthony| 8.14.11 @ 9:46AM
Quite true. Just ask the former chief sociologist cum retired Supreme Court Justice, Sandra Day O'Connor, who opined in one of her last A A cases ,that in perhaps 25 years A A might become obsolete.
Ah yes, the mindset of our social engineers.
rachelle| 8.13.11 @ 10:40PM
You should reconsider because you will be hurting her. I went to law school when women were rare in that environment and ever since I've dealt with the assumption of easy entry -- not true but annoying as hell. I turned Harvard down for that reason. let her fly using her wings.

I don't think Obama understands the American spirit to remain free. Obama backs the social justice crowd, but doesn't realize that freedom loving Americans think this is bunk, because we are all free to chose what we want to be. The social justice crowd isn't about justice, they are about a free paycheck. We all know that.
Dave Williams| 8.12.11 @ 2:18PM
During the campaign, he reminded me of nothing so much as the title character in the Who's "Tommy" -- a brilliant charlatan who rocketed to fame and fortune by appealing to the greed and ignorance of the great unwashed. We're at about that point in the show when Roger's singing "We forsake you / Gonna rape you / Let's forget you, better still." Glad to see that there are SO many decent Americans who "ain't gonna take it." Please note, btw, leftist trolls (Brooks, Purpleguy, and the thankfully-now-almost-completely absent Vtwin) that in ALL the posts above, there is not the slightest WHIFF of racism.
November 2012 can't come soon enough to suit me...
Ned Bender| 8.12.11 @ 2:34PM
This article belatedly makes a point I've been trying to make since we Obama the Candidate. People who like Obama and think he's a wonderful orator seem unable to distinguish delivery from content. Aside from the incomprehensible catch phrases, there is often a stunning absence of logic and coherence to his pronouncements. His performance at the Saddleback forum while a candidate was an example of this and this as was his speech concerning embryonic stem cell research. The responses came off like they were focus - tested for an Oprah audience.

Bob Shrum, a commentator who bats as a Lefty, claims the economy isn’t Obama’s fault. Charles Krauthammer, a supposedly Conservative columnist, recognizes our economy is badly broken, but stubbornly maintains our political system isn’t. Of late, the “Kraut” has repeatedly vomited up a recurring argument supporting the tired theme our political system is operating per normal and humming smoothly along. The Detroit Free Press claims criticism of Obama’s policies is due to “racism”.
Politics and economics – totally unrelated according to professional scribblers among all those on the Left and many on the Right. When will these chattering magpies within the media get it? Economics and politics within America are deeply and inseparably intertwined. Standard campaign speeches are 90% about what our government will do for you financially and which other Americans will be helped by using your money along with their expert political guidance.
Our political system is obviously “broken” despite what this bemused twit, Krauthammer, believes. When our government daily consumes vast portions of American productivity, charges of racism and playing politics are straw dogs desperately attempting to divert our attention from the reality of a broken and ailing culture with a steadily worsening economy. Will it take UK style riots, smashed windows and general disorder to get the basic message across to our bumbling elected employees? Odds are it will finally come to that. And because the gulf is presently so wide between an obvious day to day reality and what our so-called intelligentsia perceive as reality, no other cold bucket of voter dissatisfaction can drive the message home.

I think he very well may be re-elected............but even if he isn't, he will NEVER go away.
We are going to have to listen to this guy as long as he lives. The lib MSM will always give him a forum. He will continue his devisive, destructive rhetoric long after leaving office.
Larry| 8.12.11 @ 4:09PM
That's how lib-scum presidents ALWAYS are. Bill Clinton has continued to run his shadow government for the last 10 years. Jimmy Carter is always in the news for his anti-Americanism and anti-Semitism.
On the other hand, how often do you ever remember Gerald Ford, Ronald Reagan or either of the Bushes being in the news so much for any reason at all? When do you remember them consistently and constantly criticizing their successors of the opposite party? Hardly ever, if ever at all. You'd hear from these guys once in a blue moon. Unlike lib-scum former presidents, they've got class.
Ned Bender| 8.12.11 @ 10:43PM
When Obama was elected I predicted he wouldn't be living in America twenty years from now. Its a predicition I'm sticking with.

Timely Renewed | 8.12.11 @ 5:39PM
The solution must go deeper than simply replacing this incompetent ideologue. Much of the Obama administration's ability to wreck such havoc comes from a constitutional jurisprudence which has allowed the national government to expand far beyond its proper constitutional bounds. We can only hope to be free of this or future administrations of its ilk when we restore the original limits on the national government. Given how entrenched that Supreme Court jurisprudence is, this can only be done by amendments restating those original constitutional understandings. See http://www.timelyrenewed.com.
Claudia | 8.12.11 @ 6:38PM
You have hit the nail completely on the head - Obama is completely void of humor. Additionally, he's pompous and arrogant and has this annoying habit of tilting his chin up when he speaks as if there is a halo around his head. As a public speaker I know he cannot speak without a teleprompter. Because of this, he never speaks to the middle. His eyes are looking either one way or the other, where the teleprompters are located. As a communicator, you must speak to the middle as if the camera eye is an individual. But most importantly, he is not a cheerleader for this country. He does not make us proud to be Americans. He tone drones on and on and his manner is professorial. He needs to go and it can't come soon enough.

beebop| 8.12.11 @ 9:10PM
There aren't enough Democrats willing to hold their noses. The polls are like unemployment figures, they keep reducing the number of declared democrats so that the number who support the DC disaster appears to be static. The truth is that the people who were appalled during the 2008 primaries and were told to "get over it" didn't.
Oldefarte| 8.13.11 @ 12:50PM
You've got that right [the last sentence, that is]. There aren't enough Democrats [domestic terrorists] to elect him, since the independents have now effectively seen through his bullexcrement finally and will vote Republican next year. People are starting to realize that WE are the ones we've been waiting for, to save ourselves from Obama and his Democratics.
idalily| 8.12.11 @ 11:49PM
Picking Obama's most annoying traits is hard; there are so many. For me, the complete lack of a sense of humor, a sense of empathy, a sense of economics, a sense of fair play, a sense of grace under pressure and any common sense whatsoever top the list. Then there's the mannerisms: the chin up/looking down his nose thing, the limp wrist jog, the excessive teleprompter use. And then there's the speech stuff--the fact that he talks and talks and says NOTHING, the sssss's, the ghetto speak, the repetitive cliches (let me be clear, inherited, etc.). But the most annoying thing about Obama? It's the cultlike worship of his followers. THAT'S the most annoying thing about him. Worse, it's scary.

With all the help he's had from his blind followers, he has already caused so much damage. If he actually were intelligent the damage would probably be even greater. Also, he would be even harder to beat on 2012.
The so-called debates between him and the Republican nominee will be arranged to minimize any true comparison between the 2 and to hide his deficiencies; even moreso than in the past.

Likely voters are beginning to realize this president has serious issues. Specifically he suffers from "dissociative dissonance disorder". This is a condition where one disassociates between ones actions and beliefs when those actions lack agreement with other prospective actions. This is a recusal from reality. Because of this condition he can actually blame himself without ever referring to himself but by projecting his blame on others. Thus by disassociating himself from his own presidency he can campaign against himself in 2012. That is his only chance to win.

Mullah Obama acts like a little Pinocchio, that of the long nose that grows every time he lies. He does not climb steps - he shows how athletic he is by jumping up the steps. At a recent rodeo in the (largely liberal) Pacific Northwest, the announcer remarked on the "Cash-for-Clunkers" program in the early months of the Professor's administration.
"Way-ell," he said, "that program didn't last long, or amount to much, but it done some good. Just think of all the Obama bumper stickers it took out of circulation."
And now back to "Godzilla" (1957), the Japanese ur-monster movie in which every cheap device of the early stop-motion special effects was pushed to its limit and, happily, eliminated. Four years before the birth of the Professor, whose weird parents didn't realize that they were already superannuated.
