Blind Allegiance to Sarah Palin: A Memoir of Our Tumultuous
Years
By Frank Bailey
Howard Books, 2011, 383 pages, $26.
Winston Churchill once observed, “In war, you can only be killed
once, but in politics, many times.” By that reckoning,
Blind Allegiance to Sarah Palin is a bloodbath.
A self-described “Fox News conservative” and evangelical
Christian, author Frank Bailey was a staffer for Sarah Palin during
her bid for the Alaska governorship in 2006. Later, he worked in
her administration. By his telling, Bailey quickly became
disillusioned with the Republican rock star’s conduct but stuck by
her side until 2009.
Pulling from a hefty store chest of email correspondence, Bailey
paints a morally harrowing picture of the chief Mama Grizzly’s
stint in Alaskan politics: poll fixing, “planting” letters to the
editor, and paying newspapers to publish editorials; illegally
coordinating with the Republican Governors Association on a
campaign ad; pulling strings to get her ex-brother-in-law, state
trooper Mike Wooten, fired; and resigning as Alaska’s governor
because she “hated the damn job.”
The overall picture: a paranoid, emotionally volatile psycho
chick obsessed with money. “Punishing enemies and wealth
accumulation became a full-time job,” Bailey writes. “Jabez,” a
biblical character blessed by God with riches, became a frequent
password Palin used for her electronic accounts.
Bailey also contends that “Sarahcuda” cared little for her
family. “I recall one day when Bristol [Palin] phoned from school
crying while Sara sat in my office,” Bailey writes. “Sarah rolled
her eyes and held the phone out, as if to say, ‘You wanna listen to
this?’”
Turning to the 2008 presidential election and Palin’s stint as
John McCain’s running mate, Bailey portrays a disjointed process.
He says that McCain staffers didn’t vet Sarah until days after she
was selected as the vice presidential candidate. “In simple terms,
the woman who nearly became the second-most-powerful person in our
country was chosen on a whim,” he writes.
The lion’s share of the book focuses on the much-discussed
Troopergate scandal, in which the Palins allegedly targeted Wooten
for termination following threats against their family. When public
safety commissioner Walt Monegan did not bow to her wishes, Palin
fired him. Such were the charges from political opponents, at
least.
“First Dude” Todd Palin was more preoccupied (“obsessed,” Bailey
says) with Wooten than anyone else near the governor. “His hope
became that if we hurled enough accusation spaghetti against the
wall, no matter how frivolous, something might stick,” Bailey
writes.
Bailey was the lynchpin on Team Palin. He took scorching heat
during the investigation after a taped phone conversation became
public in which he asked a public safety department staffer why
Wooten was still on the government payroll. Contrary to the
official report, Bailey writes in his memoir that Todd and Sarah
were intimately involved in applying pressure to oust Wooten.
A special investigation in October 2008 found that Palin had
abused her power, but it did not recommend a criminal investigation
or sanctions. Later findings from the State Personnel Board cleared
her of ethical wrongdoing.
If for no other reason, Blind Allegiance is a
worthwhile read for its first-hand account of the scandal. Whether
the re-telling is accurate is another question.
Consider the source. Bailey devotes page after page to
sanctimoniously smearing Palin’s reputation, yet he claims the book
is a way to confess his own sins and clear his own conscience. That
declaration would be more veritable were he not cashing in by
trashing his former boss. Bailey has an ax to grind, and he grinds
it with glee.
Adding to the doubt, Bailey’s co-authors — Ken Morris and
Jeanne Devon — are anything but paragons of journalistic virtue.
Devon, a regular blogger on the left-wing Huffington Post,
has carved her niche as a professional Palin hater. Lefty economist
Morris, meanwhile, publicly offered $100,000 to Palin’s favorite
charity if she agreed to have dinner with him and four other
“progressives” and allow them to ask any question they wished.
Worse, Bailey’s tell-all might be illegal. The Alaska attorney
general’s office has opened an investigation into whether the
former Palin staffer illegally used government emails that hadn’t
yet been disseminated to the public for personal monetary gain — a
violation of state law.

It's not because they are women but rather because they are independent Pentacostal Evangelicals. The only ""evangelicals"" the Republican Establishment wants in it's TOP leadership positions have to have money or be an Ivy Leaguer or be a member of a secret society. Otherwise true, independent evangelicals are relegated to lower postions and they are "liked" only that way and liked as plain voters by the Republican Establishment but not more than that. We've seen this pattern many times before and it keeps repeating itself. WAKE UP True Evanglicals who really do love the Lord.
For I know this, that after my (Paul's) departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. Acts 20:29.

Another Judas collecting his silver (with the help of lying prog scum), and a credulous Bass swallowing it hook line, and sinker. Pathetic, TAS. A New Low.
BackToBasics| 7.17.11 @ 1:12PM
Yes, you're right, the author, Bailey making money off of Palin Derangement Syndrome is as far as this book goes and Bass doesn't see it. I was commenting on the larger problem regarding the Republican Establishment's true feelings regarding Evangelicals. Democrats don't like them either. Bill HOS questioned if it was Vagina Envy. I don't think so. I believe that a true Evangelical man would get the same vicious treatment. Bailey no doubt got help from either the RINO or Democrat to get his book published.
Doctor Right| 7.15.11 @ 9:45AM
Go pound sand, Mr. Bass...
TASOnline has clearly thrown-in with the RINO-wing of the GOP that prefers Romney and that gave us McCain.
Nice going, guys.

Capishe, LouLou and I'm with you. I can't believe TAS put this on this website. As Bill said above, Vigina Envy is apparent. I await the trashing of Michele Bachmann next.
Peter McGrath| 7.17.11 @ 10:49AM
Count on Florida Republican primary voters throwing Romney behind the true reformers. Romney will not lead America back to prosperity and freedom. Our only hope is for fiscal AND social conservatives, like Palin, to lead the party and the nation - not just with words, but by their example.
masly | 7.18.11 @ 1:45AM
David Bass an evangelical Christian? More like Judas. Such people don't team with hacks from Huffington Post to do hatchet jobs on their former employer. Shame on him. Sarah Palin is not my first choice for president, and quitting the governorship was a fatal mistake, but she doesn't deserve smears from people that she helped in their career.
I am a 28 years old doctor, mature and beautiful.and now I am seeking a good man who can give me real love , so i got a username Andromeda2002 on--s'e'ek'c'ou'ga'r.c óm--.it is the first and best club for y'ounger women and old'er men, or older women and y'ounger men,to int'eract with each other. Some TAS writers love Romney. But other TAS writers go out of their way to find nice things to say about Ron Paul. This shows that TAS respects diversity of opinion among its writers. Some want to destroy the Republican Party by running a Rino who would make the Republican Party look liberal. Others want to destroy the Republican Party by running an eccentric loon who would lose by a greater margin than any candidate in history.
And then of course we have hit pieces like this one on the only candidate who could win the nomination, win the election, and then go toe-to-toe with the liberals and Rinos in Congress and get this nation back on track.
Controse| 7.15.11 @ 6:59PM
Amen. Let's keep our list folks. Those that have unfounded mud to smear on Sarah should be forced to leave the table of discourse of those of us that want America back. Sarah shines her light and the roaches scatter.

Cognitive dissonance can be a real threat to True Believers. They simply can't accept facts that threaten the precast narrative.
I stated three summers ago that Sarah Palin struck me as a shrill, poorly-read, self-absorbed bully with little eye for, or interest in, the details of governance. This book confirms all of that and then some. Surely there is a GOP politician somewhere in this great land who can withstand the barrage of verbal abuse ("RINO!"), and say as much.
Doctor Right| 7.15.11 @ 12:10PM
Like we're supposed to remember, or care, something you claim to gave said about Sarah Palin "3 summers ago"..??
Here's a clue...even if you did say it, you were wrong then, and you're wrong now.
RINO dill-weed...
Seek| 7.15.11 @ 2:41PM
Who cares what you say this summer -- or the next? Facts, unless disproven, ought to be at least taken seriously.
I have not read Bailey's book yet. But the first-hand quotes and observations from this insider's perspective, "disgruntled" or otherwise, can't be dismissed out of hand. And they corroborate many other observations about her that I have read.
That said, I like to look at life on the bright side. I saw Bristol Palin last night on Jay Leno's show, alongside Don Rickles. I think she's a likable and beautiful young woman. And she took Don's insults like a real lady. She understands show business.
ds80| 7.15.11 @ 2:47PM

scotchieguy| 7.15.11 @ 5:26PM
Here we go again. The same people who trash the dems for their blind allegiance to Obama are busy doing the same for Palin. Some of you are so hard up for another Reagan that you will go for literally anyone who "seems" close. She is not qualified to be president. She is shallow and petulant. It is time to grow up and elect an adult. The last three presidents were/are yuppies. Time to be careful out there--we're talking about the most spoiled generation in the history of man. As for me, I like Perry and Christie. One of them better enter and save us from the Rinos or other misfits currently running on the republican ticket.
Bob Grant| 7.15.11 @ 7:00PM
Oh but Scotchie YOU are not a conservative, according to this site. By not supporting Sarah, you've relegated yourself to RINO-dom. You just don't know this about yourself just yet.
scotchieguy| 7.16.11 @ 2:32AM
Thanks for the info, bud. I feel so much better.
Michael Tomlinson| 7.16.11 @ 8:40AM
Palin like Obama (she' our version of him) is NO Reagan. Reagan was a thoughtful leader with a political record of success as Governor of California (despite his liberal abortion law and raising taxes) before seeking the White House.
Palin is anything, but successful as a Governor or political leader. Like Obama her resume is thin and unimpressive. That's too bad considering she started out with real potential.
While I purused this unimpressive book I can believe one thing she didn't like "wasting her precious time" as Governor of Alaska, but to belittle her love of family seems contrived at best. She appears to be a good mother and loving wife.
Richard Anderson| 7.18.11 @ 12:42AM
Michael, when you say blatantly stupid things like her resume is thin it makes your argument easily dismissible. At every job, from PTA to mayor to head of the state Energy Board to Governor she shined to the extent that others came to her and asked her to head among other things the National Governors Association or whatever. Didn't like wasting her time as governor? An 80+% approval rating? Moron.
Richard Anderson| 7.18.11 @ 12:34AM
"No argument, just contempt and hatred." Ya...sort of like, "shrill, poorly-read, self-absorbed bully with little eye for, or interest in, the details of governance". You had no knowledge of Palin 3 summers ago, no one did days after her nomination, no basis whatsoever for your opinion... no argument, just "contempt and hatred". Hypocrite.
Seek| 7.19.11 @ 6:35PM
I had plenty of knowledge about that woman. She'd just been nominated GOP Veep. The contempt and hate are yours; the pleasure is all mine.
ChiefEngineeer| 7.16.11 @ 3:00PM
Uninformed comments like the above are a mark indolence and sloth. A couple of years ago, I attended a professional marine surveyors conference with members from all over the world. The president and one board member were Alaskans. They had unqualified praise for Sarah. At that time, she was experiencing north of 75% job approval. She cut Alaska's deficit and increased efficiency, took on the Old Boy Republicans, who were corrupt lap dogs of the oil and mining companies and thrashed them. She got rid of a lot of state employee deadwood.
Now, recall the weak, limp wrested men that criticized Margaret Thatcher, whom she called "wet". Scratch the surface of the author of the book and this review and you will find a little pipsqueak, weak persona, and envy of Sarah for having more balls, guts, integrity, and fidelity to God, Family and Country then they could ever possibly dredge up from their pathetic, feckless, character. You guys are a disgrace to the male gender.

Doctor Right (and Stuart),
This type of book began with The Secret History by Procopius, or The Annals of Imperial Rome by Tacitus? The Annals predates, but was it really equivalent? The Secret History seems to be much more of the insider tell all.
Either way, much salt must be taken. I remember by History Prof at TCU, Dr. Chambers (still there, and a fine teacher even though a Lefty) telling us how we need to make allowances for criticism of Caligula in class by day, while vociferously opposing Reagan in nasty terms at night. The class was great, though. Even though I was the best known Conservative on Capus, I aced it.
Occam's Tool| 7.15.11 @ 1:37PM

My dog Zulu, an African-American dog, (part Basenji and Boston Terrier) would make a better President that Obama. Despite being neutered he's got more than Obama.
mark James| 7.15.11 @ 3:50PM
Sorry my conservative cohorts, but Am Spec publishing this is not the issue. If we were given actual insight this close to ANY other politician the results would be far worse in most cases. Every one has warts and the key is if those warts make them a poor choice for the next position. Sarah needs time to learn more and let this rather benign issue fade with age.
Remember, McCain was not disqualified even though he was peddling influence. But that isn'y what kept him out of the White House, it was the fact that as a Rhino he received poor support from true conservatives. Sarah is ready fo a major conservative movement leadership position but not ready for POTUS. The problem here is Sarah will be judged unfairly against her competitors due to deep information going public. One sign of a seasoned politician is they cover their tracks on these small inevitable, unethical issues better than Sarah did.
Finally, we should applaud the Spectator for being balanced, either that or admit we are hypocrites.
mames| 7.15.11 @ 10:25AM
Whatever. There are plenty of legitimate reasons not to support her. She AGREED to run with the pathetic RINO McCain and support his Senate run afterwards. She quit as Gov to pursue the book and lecture circuit. She violates her own stated religious beliefs which demands a woman's first duty is to her children, not to a political life where dad plays mommy and the oldest daughter is allowed to kiss and tell for book sales. So many legitimate reasons not to trust her and every Conservative worth his salt should consider these. Support a solid conservative like Bachmann or Cain.

scotchieguy| 7.15.11 @ 5:30PM
You don't believe she is 'ready??" What do you think she is doing, taking a crash course preparing to become a viable candidate? Alot of books need to be read. No, I think she likes being a celebrity and making dough. That's cool, cuz she will never run. The top job simply doesn't pay enough.
ChiefEngineeer| 7.16.11 @ 3:05PM
I agree that the best for her (I admire her greatly) would be an appointment as Secretary of the Interior, where she is truly an expert and could undo the damage of Salazar and Obozo. From there, on the national stage, would be a springboard to higher aspirations, and something to judge her on.

I'm no fan of Palin, but I despise these types of tawdry garbage. It is reminiscent of the little s**t Scott McClellan's lying anti-Bush trash.
George S| 7.15.11 @ 6:25AM

George you nailed it.
Bill Hussein O'Stalin| 7.15.11 @ 6:33AM
Book sellers are less trustworthy than politicians.
Book sellers have nothing to lose. Politicians have their reputations to lose.
Ironic that a special investigation felt she abused her power but a State Personnel Board cleared her of any ethical wrongdoing. It should be noted that abuse of power goes with any government undertaking so it would be hard for an elected official to miss that one.
In short, although the TAS has run a couple of smidgets about the fallibility of several males this is the first time we've heard the word "psycho" applied to a candidate in any manner.
Well, I'll tell you what psycho is and is not. Psycho is embracing climate change. That would include just about every male Republican running for office. In fact, one of those psychos can be observed sitting on a park bench (How pretty!) with Nancy Pelosi embracing climate change. Psycho is believing the government is the best arbiter of health services. That would include several male candidates but not any female candidates.

Mr. Bass acknowledges that all ethics investigations against Gov Palin prove her innocent.
24,000 e-mails show no scandal.
For a women purported to abandon her family; they seem pretty loyal and loving to even the most casual observer despite the media glare.
The authors of this book are noted for their own ethical lapses
Yet with all of this we are supposed to take what they say and further trash a conservative who more than any other person contributed to electing conservatives in 2010 and taking the fight to Obama. She's effectively derailed the Death panels and forced delays in the passing of Obamacare - which is more than what our feckless establishment dis.
Here's something everyone in the DC establishment Republican establishment conservative environment better understand - America - the part that does the work is outraged. As more people learn the truth about Sarah through the undefeated and h they will be more outraged. If teh Republican congress folds and caves on the debt deal - the only person in the country who will be able to save teh republicans from becoming the Whigs will be Sarah Palin

Conservative groups, Tea Party members outside Congress and activists are reportedly incensed over McConell's fall back plan.
"I wouldn't like that," Paul told TPM. "Congress should assume responsibility for itself" and figure out a way to cut spending.
Paul also dismissed talk that McConnell's lead trial balloon has undercut Republicans position in the debt talks.
"I don't think it has much effect," Paul said. "If it were [Speaker John] Boehner, it would have been a different story because we have the majority" in the House.

Dr.Ron Paul,
“Our military’s purpose is to defend our country, not to police the
Middle East.
“As the President prepares to send even more support to Egypt, we should
be reminded that it was our foreign aid that helped Mubarak retain power
to repress his people in the first place. Now we have to deal with the
consequences of those decisions, yet we keep repeating the same mistakes.
“I am not the only one who can see the absurdities of our foreign
policy. We give $3 billion to Israel and $12 billion to her enemies.
Most Americans know that makes no sense.
“We need to come to our senses, trade with our friends in the Middle
East (both Arab and Israeli), clean up our own economic mess so we set a
good example, and allow them to work out their own conflicts.”

Dr Right,
I believe, in Clint's case, it would be Placeo Gonadus.
However, I must Stand in Defense of Clint---Ron Paul is The Man of Men How Dare You Dispute The Rule of Rome Friend To SandMonkeys And Disputer of The Throne of Peter. Only Ron Paul Knows Best and Like I, The C(lint) Elegans Who Knows That Egypt is Going Secular and Ron The Great Paul Voted For a Higher Percentage of AntiAbortion Bills Than Robert Aderholt. I, C(lint) Elegans Know Best And Ignore My Being A Catamite To Terrorists and The Sheer Genius of Me Exists Despite Having Only 302 Neurons And Being A Self Fertilizing Hermaphrodite, Thus Supporting Your Previous Point About Gonnadal Fixation Dr Right But How Dare You Point it Out To Me As Ron Paul Is Greatest American of 20th and 21st Century and I am Son of War Hero Despite Being Doofus Myself---And I Get Off Challenging Men 20 and 30 Years Older Than Me to Boxing Matches.
So you see, Dr. Right, why I have no option but to support the Wyle. E. Coyote Genius of Clint over Your Mere Human Reasoning.
On a more human level---I hope you're having a great summer. I go out to Cape Cod in a couple of weeks to hear a great lecture on depression and anxiety disorders by Fred Goodwin. We have a new Kitten who is in secret agent cat pounce mode. I like the Thai food on the Cape much better than the seafood. I prefer Minnesota Walleye to the Cape.

That's right, most people don't know, unless we tell them.
Bet you don't know how much money the government takes in every day, eh?
SIX BILLION DOLLARS on average or 200 BILLION DOLLARS a MONTH.
That is plenty to take care or the immediate needs:
Interest on Debt, Bond Holders, Soc Sec, Medicare, Medicaid, Military payroll, Veterans affairs.
After this it leaves around 75 Billion or so to take care of some other things.
We can certainly do with funding th eEPA, Planned ParentHood, ACORN, IMF and other goldbricking and useless operations, eh?

When someone who "used to work for Obama" comes to market with a "kiss and tell" and lives to tell about it, I may take time to read it. But this is just a variation on a theme that never was. It is one more piece of excrement thrown on the wall. And nothing has stuck so far, and I imagine nothing will stick here. In 6 months, no one will know who this person was or what this book was about....and Sarah will STILL be drawing thousands of people.
WickedDickie--Virginia| 7.15.11 @ 8:15AM
One wonders if we'll ever see a similar revelation about Obama-ayers. Much has been covered up about this fraud despite two "autobiographies". Even staunch supp0rters like Brokaw wondered why we know next to nothing about King Putt. We do know after enduring almost three long years of his incompetent, vicious, racist and dictatorial rule what a deadly mistake was made by the dopey voters misled by state-run media like the New Yawk Times-Pravda.
canuckistani| 7.15.11 @ 8:33AM
You might, someday.
But Palin is such a polarizing figure that anything for the grist mill will make it to bookshelves these days. Every time she opens her mouth, comedy gold flows from it. She is attactive and has attained mediawhore status faster than a Kardashian one-night stand recipient.
The Weinergate fiasco is proof enough that the MSM only wants headlines. Weiner did not have sex with those women - likely never even met them, never campaigned on social conservatism, but the sheer amusement of watching a mediawhore like him take it in the ear was what America wants. Palin is exactly the same.
The Jabez reference is revealing of her creepy evangelical fetishes.
She makes Bachmann look like a sharpie, which says it all.
Stormzeye| 7.15.11 @ 9:52AM
Only a liberal like you, Canuck, would minimize yet another example of the coarsening of our culture. You think it's nothing when an elected official and pervert like Weiner sends pictures of his erection to women; yet you call an outspoken and morally upright former Governor a mediawhore. You're disgusting.
canuckistani| 7.15.11 @ 10:30AM
You make a distinction where none exists. Weinergate and Palin are the same for the MSM and the consumers of it. Headlines, tee-hees and giggles for apparent adults.
I don't like any of it, but if it did not sell papers or tv ad space then they would not do it, or would they?
As evidenced by News Corp in Britain, there is probably nothing a newser would do to get the edge on a competitor. I can only imagine that actually creating news is the next in the MSM's evolution a la the NYT recently. The masses lap it up and we can only blame ourselves for the bamboozling.
As for the term mediawhore - use clown instead, it is apt for anyone that puts their face on the television that has zero to back up their rhetoric. Weiner was a blowhard, zero legislative record, but still found a way onto every outlet almost daily.
Palin fits his MO to a tee. Peccadilloes aside, she and Weiner are representative of the errors of fame on both sides of the political debate.
Do you see Demint being a clown? Do you see Feinstein being a clown? Do you see any serious pol with a record to stand on clowning their way through an interview? The MSM and the public says "BORING" and moves onto Nancy Grace.
Wake up. Mediawhore is apt. Between books, bus trips and movies and DWTS, Palin is setting the bar even higher.

"These are just a few of the surprising findings from a UCLA-led study, which is believed to be the first successful attempt at objectively quantifying bias in a range of media outlets and ranking them accordingly.
"I suspected that many media outlets would tilt to the left because surveys have shown that reporters tend to vote more Democrat than Republican," said Tim Groseclose, a UCLA political scientist and the study's lead author. "But I was surprised at just how pronounced the distinctions are."
"Overall, the major media outlets are quite moderate compared to members of Congress, but even so, there is a quantifiable and significant bias in that nearly all of them lean to the left," said co‑author Jeffrey Milyo, University of Missouri economist and public policy scholar."

To whatever extent Palin might be "polarizing" it is because the MFM has done the polarizing. They have already started their polarizing campaign on Bachmann. They will likewise polarize ANY conservative who looks like they might be a threat to BHO.
What flows from Palin's mouth is common sense.

Now there's a MENSA meeting right there. Not a friggin scruple in the bunch, far less intellectual firepower than meets the eye and a veritable desert of common sense. A motley assortment of fools, crooks, bullies, pretensious fops and pseudo-intellects.
And I'm SOOOO glad we have a president now who's clearly a genius. How do I know that? Because all of the pundits who have excoriated Palin non-stop since she arrived on the public scene pronounced Obama to be the Wizard of Oz back in 2007.
They were pretty close to right about Obama. They only missed the fact that he's hopelessly pedantic, unoriginal, cowardly, indecisive, ignorant, racist, petulant, foolish, puerile, arrogant, vengeful, Marxist, lazy, thin-skinned, corrupt, a pathological liar, petty, cruel, narcissistic, sociopathic.
All that aside, the crease of his pantleg remains AWESOME.

People are against Palin, because they know viscerally that she represents the worst of America.
She quit probably the safest job in all of GOP land.
She has cashed in on morbid curiosity and a confusing sex appeal - kind of pretty with a chalkboard scratching personality. As a man, one would understand. Inviting but repellant at the same time.
She whores out her kids to the media (this is not unique, but relevant to the uber-mom narrative.)
She is counted on to provide spectacularly amusing soundbites within minutes of any shot against her.
She has created a sideshow for repubs, and she is not even running - meaning any traction the current slate has attempting to generate is being eaten up by the circus sideshow called Sarah Palin.
She is impossibly intransigent when prodded into self-examination, and makes sober thought and consideration look like a deadly sin.
When one uses BHO lacks as the comparison, it means the shots against SP are hitting pretty close to the mark.
Doctor Right| 7.15.11 @ 12:26PM
Actually, you represent "the worst of America", thanks to Lyndon Johnson's idiotic immigration policies...
George True| 7.15.11 @ 1:59PM
Canuck, your PDS is causing you to not be able to see obvious things. It is the Commiecrats and the leftist MFM that are viscerally against Palin. Anyone whose vision is not clouded can see this. The more that average people learn about her, unfiltered by the MFM narrative, the more they like her.
I don't care that she resigned early as governor. People resign from all kinds of positions for all kinds of reasons in all walks of life and that doesn't make them all quitters.
She does not whore out her kids. The fact that you think so doesn't make it true.
Her responses to criticism or her comments on the current scene are invariably well thought out and right on the mark. The fact that you don't like her commentary is neither here nor there.
The areas where she is intransigent are in her ideology of smaller, less intrusive government and not spending more money than you have. Intransigence in these areas is a good thing.

Bob Grant| 7.15.11 @ 8:29AM
Based on watching her in action for three years, I believe the piece is more true than not.
Face it, she DOES seem to have a bunker mentality which would not serve her well as commander-in-chief. Arguably, this might be justified in her case, but as president she needs to deal with her perceived enemies a little better. Let's go down memory lane and revisit Richard Nixon if you don't think this might cause just a leeetle bit of a problem.
Dai Alanye | 7.15.11 @ 9:39AM
This comment is less than thoughtful. Palin *does* deal well with her critics, usually responding calmly and humorously to ill-mannered slander. Grant would have been far better advised to use Obama as an example of thin-skinned excessive response to criticism.
Bob Grant| 7.15.11 @ 10:26AM
I agree. Obama is extremely thin-skinned. This mainstream media spin that Obama has some superior temperament is pure fantasy. It's a joke to any thinking person.
On the other hand, I will not turn off my brain when analyzing Palin. She too has a questionable temperament. She seems to obsessed with people who have done her wrong. Her husband tends to enable this mindset.
I see a lot of similarities between Palin and Obama.
George True| 7.15.11 @ 11:48AM
Not really, Bob. Palin, unlike most Republicans today, actually knows how best to respond to the MFM and certain politicians from both sides of the aisle when they slander her. She strikes exactly the right balance. Her responses via Facebook are very well thought out, even tempered, often humorous, and always right on the money. I only wish other Repubs had the smarts and the gonads to respond effectively when smeared.
Palin seems to be one of the very few Republicans who learned from the unfortunate example of GW Bush. Bush remained silent over the years of his administration while leftists and the MFM slandered and excoriated him relentlessly in a hundred different ways. He remained silent for the right reasons, but it was the WRONG thing to do.
Because the DNC allied with their defacto propaganda arm in the MFM is nothing more than a smear and slander machine today, a conservative pol cannot allow them to say what they will and not respond, quickly and forcefully. Not to respond, a la GW Bush, is political death today. Sarah Palin learned that lesson very quickly, and she is the master of the well-reasoned, set-the-record-straight response. Other Republicans would do well to emulate her in this regard, and will surely do poorly if they do not learn to do this.
Jack London | 7.15.11 @ 4:23PM
GW was silent, George, because he had difficulty in putting two words together that made sense. Sadly for you, Palin would be strongly advised to keep quiet too.
Occam's Tool| 7.15.11 @ 4:41PM
Yes, Jack, and our current President was just back from travelling the 57 States to honor the Corpsemen and the other fine dead soldiers he put the Medal of Honor around the necks of while going off script and saying he liked them even though he can't remember their names once the Teleprompter shut down.
Grzmlyk| 7.15.11 @ 9:40AM
The thing is, in his ascendance to the national stage, Nixon wasn't subjected to a malevolent media colonoscopy every minute of every day; Palin has been scrutinized by hundreds of media outlets staffed by thousands of people who literally want to destroy her entire life from day one.
Nixon was a complex character, and even a cursory look at any part of his life reveals a definite, and troubling, pathology, much of which was manifested in paranoia - along with an amazing tenacity and a great deal of intelligence. I believe that, as toxic as Nixon's mind was, it was nothing compared to Obama's. Or Clinton's. Or Carter's.
Also, Watergate was payback for the Hiss case; Nixon himself was the victim of a slow-motion lynch mob. Watergate was in fact the creation of the liberal model of the politics of personal destruction the media is using to destroy Palin today (and yes, I know Nixon engaged in smears himself - he was no innocent, but, had he been a Democrat, Watergate would not have happened. You see the disparity now with the far more sinister "Gun Walker" non-scandal).
Whatever else she may or may not have, it seems to me that Palin has a lot of courage. I'm not saying that there are no problems there, and I'm sure she swims in the same pool of human foibles as the rest of us. Nobody who seeks to bestride the world stage is without psychological "issues."
But I don't see this bunker mentality as a defining trait. Maybe that will change - I continue to be willing to be persuaded that Palin's half as bad as her detractors claim. So far, I am not so persuaded.
In fact, I think she's been admirably judicious and restrained in her public utterances that are directed at those who want her and her family DEAD.
In fact, publicly, she seems relatively thick-skinned to me. Perhaps that's untrue, and if that's the case, I want to see the fissures in her for myself - not as depicted by a vanity-intoxicated mob armed with pitchforks and torches. The same mob, by the way, that spent all of its time forging and polishing a halo for Obama without so much as a cursory glance at the empty adolescent brat upon whom they were affixing it.
Palin has a boatload of common sense, she's truly conservative and I think she has courage in spades. If she runs, I will scrutinize her for myself and come to my own conclusions as to whether she's the best in the field.
Then again, the only job the next president will have to perform is turning out the lights, because, whomever is elected, the party is over.
Well, the party that was America is over. The new party - the Communist Party - is just getting started. They will feed on the carcass of American Exceptionalism until every last bit of human decency has been consumed.
Anthony| 7.15.11 @ 10:33AM
Grzmlyk, A superb post. I'm not quite ready to admit the party is over, just yet.
It's still a toss up as to who will be feeding on whos carcass.
As Mark Levin opined the other night, America has defeated the likes of Stalin, Hitler, and the mighty Soviet Union.
I believe we can handle the likes of the arugala loving Obozo, Bill Ayers, and the rest of the efite elitists on the left.
Just think Paul Krugman and Maureen Dowd manning the barricades; you'll die of laughter before they can get off a shot.
I for one, am itching at the prospect of some serious ass kicking. It's way overdue!!!!
Grzmlyk| 7.15.11 @ 12:04PM
Thank you, Anthony. I appreciate your kind words and respect your opinion. And I hope you are right.
But I think the math is irrevocable in terms of our debt.
As far as I can tell, the only way any nation-state gets out of that kind of debt - and if you add in the unfunded madates, we're talking well over $100 trillion - is to print money, which we are doing. Debauch the currency. Inflation. And that is taxation by other means. It is default by other means. It is the most insidious, "animal spirits" killing policy a government can pursue.
It's going to buy time, but that's all. We are going down the tubes; the destruction of the dollar is a fait accompli. If the Euro weren't right there along with us, the Yen on life support and the Renmibi teetering on the edge, the dollar would already have been ejected as the world's reserve currency.
It's not just Obozo, although he has certainly put his foot on the accelerator of destruction. But ever since the dawn of the progressive era a century ago, we have pretended there's a free lunch; our culture has lulled the wealth producers into either a cyncial "government greed is just the price of doing business" mentality or, worse, a moral vanity that sees redistribution of wealth and social justice as absolution for the original sin of being white and/or wealthy and/or a capitalist.
Government's sole occupation is a three-pronged approach to dictatorship: punishing producers, destroying the cultural fabric of this nation and looting the private sector to pay off cronies and constituents.
We are a de facto banana republic.
This diversion about raising the debt ceiling is risible in comparison to what we face - we're arguing about whether we should put 2 or 3 grains of sand in our teaspoon for each trip we make to the car in our attempt to empty the Sahara Desert.
I do not think there is a politician alive who has the courage to tell the truth to Americans; we are pretending we can sustain a welfare state in which we currently borrow $188 million every hour of every day. We can't. And, when interest rates go up, the ship of state will capsize.
We are not only going the way of the Portugal, Ireland, Greece and Spain, our collapse is going to make theirs look like child's play.
I love your optimism, but, short of cutting our federal budget across the board, NOW, by about 50%, any measures we take are only prolonging the inevitable.
I'm sure a troll will comment that we have plenty of money. Well, you could confiscate all of the wealth in this country - every dime - and it wouldn't pay our debt for a full year. And I'm sure these trolls aren't willing to cough up 100% of their assets in order to "share the sacrifice."
On the bright side, football season's almost here, and the lockout will probably end soon. Like the orchestra aboard the sinking Titanic, I say we sit down, have a glass of wine and enjoy the music until the inevitable occurs.

Bob Grant| 7.15.11 @ 11:35AM
You've gotta think practically about this. Let's put the Palin fan hat down for a moment and think about how President Palin would act under various conditions. She would not preside in some bubble, passing law at the snap of a finger like our current president believes the way it should be done.
Who would be her advisors? Who would she turn to to brainstorm? What's her style in dealing with people? Who's her Valerie Jarrett or Rhamn Emanuel? Does she even have an inner circle?
No idea.
We got a better sense from previous candidates.
George True| 7.15.11 @ 11:56AM
Palin's conservative bonafides are beyond reproach. As such, I do not care specifically who she might pick as her advisors and cabinet members. She would obviously pick advisors and cabinet members who would help dismantle the Obama/Pelosi/Reid agenda, and replace it with an agenda of less government coupled with an Austrian School economic approach. That's all any rational person would need to know.
Bob Grant| 7.15.11 @ 12:19PM
You are basing your opinions of Palin on an article of faith. What sparse record she does have tends to be moderate variety while she went after the "establishment".
I love what she SAYS but neither you or I really know what her true inclinations are. She's way too protective of granting interviews and sharing her views and knowledge of various topics. The only way we'll really know is when she's out there on the stump, giving speeches, and granting interviews on a daily basis. Like other candidates.
Facebook postings don't impress me.
I'm open to changing my mind but quite frankly she's demonstrated nothing to me in three years.
George True| 7.15.11 @ 12:41PM
Nonsense, Bob. Of course we know her inclinations. Smaller government, lower taxes, a balance budget, less regulation, and less government intrusion into our lives. These things are her mantra.
I don;t give a dams whether her commentary is on Facebook or wherever. WHAT she says is always well thought out, and right on the money.
Your PDS is raging today.

mcr| 7.16.11 @ 9:23AM
She did not make the movie, she had no part in its production, in fact she did not even have the idea of it, it is all thanks to Steve Bannon. But the truth is Bob you are never going to give Sarah an inch, and I am starting to think you thrive in your capacity of being so hard on her.
Doctor Right| 7.15.11 @ 12:17PM
I suppose you'd prefer she got "advice" from the usual cast of GOP-establishment clowns in D.C.??
Stop thinking "practically". Think smart, instead.
Grzmlyk| 7.15.11 @ 2:06PM
Obviously, we do not know how Sarah Palin would govern. I think it's legitimate to ask - and it's legitimate to draw one's own conclusions. I would not begrudge anyone doing that. I just worry that the balls-to-the-wall efforts to destroy her have bled over into the consciousness of even the most resistant of conservative minds. It is not easy to assert a contrary point of view in the midst of a typhoon of public opinion going the other way.
But we NEVER know for sure how one is going to govern; I'm sure FDR would be amazed that Truman would stand up to McArthur (for better or worse) and, in the fullness of time, the "little haberdasher" would become a hero to many on both sides of the political specturm.
I would agree with you that Palin appears right now to be more opaque than, perhaps, some past candidates. However, she's less opaque than others. Look at how many presidents were elected as one thing and, in governance, became quite another.
I think Palin is the victim of character assassination on a scale we haven't seen since - well, since George Bush and Dick Cheney. I think she's an impressive person; my gut tells me she's the real deal - smart, savvy, capable, common sensical, ethical and that her motivations are good.
I do not know what's in her head or her heart; like those who detest her, I'm simply trying to make a reasonable judgment about her.
But, as Shakespeare said, some are born great, some achieve greatness and some have greatness thrust upon them. One thing's for sure - whomever the GOP nominee is, a great deal of greatness is going to be needed.
BackToBasics| 7.16.11 @ 1:30PM
from your post - "I think she's an impressive person; my gut tells me she's the real deal... "
I've written similar comments a couple times about my gut instincts regarding Plain. But I have also included that instincts can be wrong and I'd sure feel better about her if she could improve on the answers she gives during interviews. I'd love to see her do well but I also do not want another Republican of the likes of GW Bush who cannot give coherent policy speeches to the American public. We need not only a conservative, but one who can also be a great communcator to a nation that needs so desperatley to hear the truth in a clear and understandable way.
Presidential speeches alone cannot make up for the huge knowledge gap regarding conservative political and econmic policies in the collective American mind. However, a true presidential voice in these matters is still needed, desperately so. She can give a rousing speech. I hope she can give informative ones as well and not just catch phrases. But as to her personal interview skills, which also show her intellect and personality in a way that no other venue can, time is getting short on that one. So far she's more like GW Bush on that one than she is not. Another GW Bush will not save this nation. And the bottom line to all conservatives here is that we want to get a president who will be a strong leader in hopes to save the nation and we suspect 2012 is our last chance!
I'll both support and vote for her if she gets the nomination, but let's get the BEST communicator who is ALSO Conservative that we can. I think Bachman and Cain edge her out in this.
Truth to Power| 7.15.11 @ 10:00AM

Ok maybe I meant it as an offense but you really irritate me and I am not even a Palin supporter.
Bob Grant| 7.15.11 @ 10:39AM
Geez. I'm just responding to an AMSPEC article; not exactly obsessed with her. As a matter of fact, I haven't given her any thought the past several months. I'm pretty conservative in my thinking on every issue down the line. Heck, I bet I agree with practically everything she stands for. I just believe she does not have the chops to be an effective president; someone who can make the deal without giving up the store; someone who can command loyalty among a small group of (qualified, respected) people who will be in charge of moving her agenda, i.e., advisers, cabinet secretaries, etc.
Her operation seems to consist of Todd and herself. She doesn't seem to trust many people. Hence, the bunker mentality.
Voters are not THAT stupid that they wont pick up on this.
She hasn't proven anything to me at this point other than demonstrating she can give somewhat cogent interview with the likes of Hannity, Van Sestern, and O'reiley.

Geez, somebody brings her up and you go into your routine. She is not running and we get that routine anyway. The fact that David Bass and others here feel they have to educate the unclean doesn't give you cover. None of you knows the first thing about building a political movement. It doesn't have anything to do with running down Sarah Palin at every opportunity. By the way, do you remember Donald Regan? Politics can be like radio. With narcissistic big egos, the respect given is only to the mirror. Sarah Palin is not the first politician who was attacked by the help and she won't be the last. Piling on only brings amusement to bozos like crapistani and accomplishes nothing else but hard feelings. Congratulations.
Bob Grant| 7.15.11 @ 12:26PM

Bob Grant| 7.15.11 @ 1:05PM
My strategy is to weed out 'til one stands. How's that?
Truth to Power| 7.15.11 @ 1:20PM
Your strategy is to irritate your friends and amuse your enemies. That makes sense for someone that is a self-absorbed grade B celebrity. It doesn't surprise me that you aren't really supportive of anyone. With friends like you, who needs enemies. Gigante indeed. What is the Italian word for midget?
Louis Tully| 7.15.11 @ 1:32PM
Start by telling us who you support...so the rest of us can avoid that person like the plague.
Bob Grant| 7.15.11 @ 3:13PM
I support many people. Some more than others. Others, I'm holding out because their record is incomplete... ala Sarah.
As soon as she conducts herself like a presidential candidate, and not a B-rate celebrate (as you describe me), I will begin to evaluate her as a possible candidate. Otherwise, she's no different than say...Kate Gosselin who opines on politics of the day via her twitter and facebook accounts.
Truth to Power| 7.15.11 @ 3:57PM
When you take unnecessary shots at somebody that is not running I wonder about you. I think you have convinced crapistani that she is not the right candidate but otherwise you have just caused irritation amongst those that you will want to make common cause with later. There is no fool like an old fool. Kumbaya, Mr. Piccolissimo.
Bob Grant| 7.15.11 @ 4:21PM
This is what a primary is all about. Indeed, I hope to make common cause with all here during the general. As a matter of fact, if Sarah runs and wins, I will buy all the Sarah memorabilia I can afford. I'll be her biggest fan. Bring out the smores and hot chocolate; Kumbaya up the ying yang....how's that Truth?
Truth to Power| 7.15.11 @ 4:40PM

You're seeing things that aren't there, Bob. I see no evidence of "bunker mentality".

Palin, Cain, West, Rubio, Christie, Santorum, Pawlenty, Bachmann. All of them have the chops. Any of them would be acceptable.
Your PDS is flaring up a bit today, Bob. Dr. True suggests two ounces of medicinal alcohol, and call me in the morning if you are not better.

I admit that I'm a big Palin supporter, but by any objective analysis of your review, this book is nothing more that pure unadulterated bullshit.
Everything you've told us Mr. Bailey wrote, flies completely in the face of what any rational person, not afflicted with Palin derangement syndrome, has seen and witnessed about this remarkable woman.
I don't know what motivated this Bailey clown to crawl out from the rock he was hiding under, but if he thinks he has to make up for his sins of aiding Gov. Palin, then we really are living in Alice in Wonderland, because by that criteria, several hundred people who gave Barack Hussein Obama to America, should then commit suicide for the sins the committed against America!!!
No Mr. Bass, this is not a worthwhile read, and contrary to your final comment, this POS hit piece is not more baggage that Gov Palin must carry. Rather it is just more garbage that need to be deposited where it belongs.
BTY, did this fraud move in with the other POS who moved next door to the Palins to write his bullshit book? I suppose you'll find that a worthy read as well, eh?
Meanwhile Obozo has America on the verge of bankruptcy, yet all lefty eyes are on Palin. God help this country.
WJW| 7.15.11 @ 10:40AM
To Anthony: Just wanted to say good comment.
Want to comment on just one part of this hit piece review.
"Bailey also contends that "Sarahcuda" cared little for her family. “I recall one day when Bristol [Palin} phoned from school crying while Sara sat in my office," Bailey writes. "Sarah rolled her eyes and held the phone out, as if to say, 'You wanna listen to this?'"
How could any sane person interpret that Palin "cared little for her family" because MAYBE one time Palin did not act (according to a possible liar) in a super caring way when Palin's daughter called crying.
Are either of you parents? Why was Bristol crying, bad test, lost phone, boyfriend, not getting to go to a friend's house? Was Bristol crying over something that Palin might have dealt with earlier and Palin knew it was a trivial drama in her daughter's life?
How can anyone who is not on a vendetta against Palin use this instance as a blanket condemnation on her feelings for her family?? It is ABSURD beyond belief.
Am Spec should not use this David Bass writer again. Mr. Bass, you do not try for accuracy, but to slant & skew information for your own reasons.
Tina B| 7.16.11 @ 12:28PM
Exactomundo, WJW. I resonate with your kudos to Anthony as well.
I am often relieved when I finish an article such as this, with anxiety over some facts I just learned. And then I read your posts in response and am satisfied that some other thinking people are also aggravated by the same things.
So many of you say it so much better than I, and Grzlymk, Anthony, Truth to Power and WJW and even (sometimes pure potty mouths) OT and Dr. R.
As a 62 year old almost retired PS teacher I just want to say. . . don't engage Clint. He lowers the level of the repartee. He is somewhat ignorant, and he's a guy who just doesn't know that he doesn't know. And that is the worst kind of ignorance.
Furthermore, he thinks that he does know, throwing around his big words with capital letters one after another, with no commas. Tacky and getting very old. Beneath you guys.
Otherwise, carry on y'all, I love it.

Anthony,
I think the whole world has Palin Derangement Syndrome. For someone who is argued to be flighty and inconsequential, she sure garners a lot of attention. Perhaps Occam's Tool can tell us about mass hysteria.
Anthony| 7.15.11 @ 10:08AM
I quite agree John. I believe cultures and civilizations experience, from time to time, periods of mass irrationality, hence the demise of once great civilizations, only to have civilization once again rise and humanity moves forward.
America has been in this titanic tug of war, between the left and the right for decades.
As the left attempts to transform America, their irrationality grows exponentially, as everything they stand for is anethical to what America was founded on.
Every day we are bombarded with the insanity coming from the Alice-in-Wonderland left, where up is down and white is black.
Obozo, the petulent dictator walks out of a debt ceiling meeting because he's not getting his way and the MSNBC idiots talk about Eric Cantor's behavior.
This Palin thing arises from the same insanity and the win at all cost mentality. I don't think this will play out well, the pressure keeps building and building. I fear America will devolve into a civil war before sanity is restored.
I truly fear for America.

So, certain folks in republican circles are concerned about Palin, after a communisty-organizer with ties to domestic terrorists is elected president? Republicans, even moderate one will ALWAYS be subject to criticism from the left. The politicians on the right seem to accept this fact to a degree. When will the establishment get on board? Not any time soon, it appears.

That is all I have to know to determine that the book is not a objective piece. I am sure she has her flaws (as do we all) but once it is obvious someone is grinding a ax they lose all credibility. Huckabee lost me the same way with the repeated whining in his book. Until then I liked him.

To all you Palinistas who are having trouble deciphering all this, let me help. I'm an Alaskan who was there during the Palin administration. I'm also a staunch conservative who's tired of this woman passing herself off as someone she's not. She is an opportunist of the highest magnitude. If Liberalism was currently in vogue, she would be leading that parade. She touts all the work she did on the Alaska gas line and ACES (Alaska's Clear and Equitable Share), yet the gas line still isn't even close to being built and looks less likely every day, and there is a huge movement in Juneau to overturn ACES because it's killing jobs and driving the oil companies to explore elsewhere.
Let's not fall for another charismatic pied piper with no track record. There are better choices on the Republican side.

By all means DP, let's not allow a real leader with the steely determination to save America become our nominee. God forbid, we might actually WIN!! Well, we can't have that, can we?
Rather, let's chose another McCain in the likes of Romney, in order to insure that the real charismatic pied piper empty suit of a Marxist gets his second term in order to finish off America.
You say "if liberalism was currently in vogue, she would be leading the parade". Are you f'n serious?? Liberalism IS in vogue, and if this woman was the opportunist you claim she is, if she just hinted that she's changed her politics, the left would build monuments to her, statues would be erected, Chris Matthews' leg would be tingling so much he wouldn't be able to walk, and the left would send Obozo back to Kenya faster than a Nolan Ryan fastball.
Wow, with Rs like you, who needs leftists?

Not having read the book please excuse me for believing this review 'wrote itself.' While dutifully acknowledging the author's vested interest in a 'smeer' book, this reviewer does nothing to address the credibility of the source, which leaves me questioning the objectivity of the reviewer. "Conservatives ignore this at their peril" indeed. What tripe.
somnolence| 7.15.11 @ 10:31AM
The intent of the book is to destroy Sarah Palin, and on that account it is failing tremendously. Just another sour grapes author who felt (or feels) slighted. The American Spectator will also fall on its keester if it blatantly attempts to prevent Sarah from running. Most of the negative posts here, are in fact, those of desperation. Their RINO status is threatened at the moment. My current choice is Bachmann/Cain for 2012, but if Sarah decides to announce and enters the fray in a full force gale with no letup, including beating the hell out of pundits such as this one, she has my 100% support.

"blah blah blah ... tarnished."
Balanced. All hit pieces have to sound "reasoned", "balanced." Thing is, Bass doesn't play the game terribly well. In a medium where Palin Derangement Syndrome is dwarfed only by internet pr0n, he's going to have to work a lot harder. The "tarnished" conclusion is kinda lame as a conclusion. He hasn't shown that the book's reach went much beyond established anti-Palin freakazoids. [Amazon Bestsellers Rank: #22,216 in Books] For an "investigative reporter" he seems rather invested.

Your PDS is apparently causing other impairments in your logic. We voted for GHW Bush because he won the nomination, plain and simple. Like we were going to vote for the Dem just because GHW Bush was a mere shadow Ronaldus Maximus?
Likewise, we did not "jump on Bush 41's bandwagon". He won the nomination, so we voted for him instead of the Democrat. It doesn't mean we thought he was the best thing out there. Far from it.
Finally, after decades of nothing but RINO's winning the nomination, there is a chance that we could have an actual conservative to vote for. Someone who, if elected, would at least try to roll back the socialist agenda, and seriously trim the size and cost of government. I don't care if that person is Palin, Bachmann, Cain, Pawlenty, or whoever. Any of them would be fine, because all of them are ideologically coming from the right place. That's really all that matters.

Finally, my favorite Evangelical Christian Lady has arrived. Hello, Margie! I hope Victor is well. We have a new kitten in the Occam household. her name is Ginger, and she's in huntress mode. Quite hilarious.
You are a wonderful person, and I'm sorry that fleabag gives you such a rough time. Look up the roundworm C. Elegans. It's my nickname for him, and fits in a dozen different ways.

Thanks, OT!
We rescued a lovely orange Tabby long haired ball of fluff about a year ago, while house hunting. (Which by the way has finally come to fruition).
I named it Peachy, hoping it was female (we couldn't tell).. but we found out it's a he! Well, Peachy just didn't fit. Kitty cat & Tiger is what he knows. He's gorgeous.
Wish we could post pics.
He runs from window to window when he spots a stray outside, meowing out loud, so funny. But we're keeping him in.
God bless you and yours also, and be like the green olive tree, Occam.

Check this out about Michele Bachmann. She's the real deal as far as what evangelical Christian truly means. They'll be attacking her soon enough for her "hatred" too~ but that's what real Christians do~ speak the truth to lies and deceit.

As to the above article I posted~ we really don't know why Michele left that particular church, I am just glad for the fact that she joined a non-denominational one~ this is where one is usually freed up from unbiblical doctrines, and where the members usually stick to the Bible.
I wish her well.

Just another weak/phony "republican" trying to undermine a true conservative Sarah Palin. I only pray that more and more people are waking up to who truly loves this country, i.e., Palin, Bachmann, and elect true Conservatives who follow the Constitiution. It’s not what you used to be, but what you are today.
Memory says it was this way. Pride says it was another way. Pride wins---to paraphrase Nietzsche.
As I return to what I was before my father and mother were born, it’s easy to spend a second remembering an interview of the newly famous Palin, on CNBC or MSNBC, in 2008, when she was being floated as a possible choice of VP candidate by McCain.
What if McCain had chosen someone else?
Since he DID pick Sarahcuda, from now until we all die, she’ll be part of the parade of famous media stars we have to endure. However, in time, she’ll drop out into an ordinary play of her life, more or less like what happened to Geraldine Ferraro.
Enjoy it.
Michael L. Hauschild| 7.15.11 @ 12:20PM
McCain realizes it now. The only positive thing in his life that he had any control of was selecting Sarah Palin. His war record was the random trajectory of a piece of shrapnel; his legislative record is so narcissist that the Supreme Court reverses it regularly; his signature legislative records are coauthored by murderers, similar elitists, and the progressive with the same doctrines as his communist torturers. The only thing he will be remembered for is Sarah Palin who nearly singlehanded saved his campaign, and who would have saved America from the jug-eared clown had he been someone else.
Sleep well John, she will do what you could not.

I remember my mom telling me she wasn't going to fight my battles for me. Good mom or bad mom? Good, in my opinion. According to the author, she's supposed to drop everything over every little adolescent whimper. Some kids don't know the limits. Rolling the eyes is sometimes the best response... if the book is as trivial and judgmental as that throughout... well...

So where is the similar piece on Obama? Where are his email's, his papers, his body of work? Palin is a private citizen, and a hit piece like this is obviously just mean-spirited. So some half-baked former employee writes a book as a hit piece to undermine Sarah Palin if she decided to run for president and all the idiots come out to take it as gospel? Are we surprised? The fact that the Spectator is running this without rebuttal is very telling. Can anyone say Scot McClellan? Bashing Sarah Palin makes you popular with the "in-crowd", so here he is paying his dues. As Dick Morris said about McClellan's hit piece, "There's nothing there." So let's move on and this book will be lucky to sell 10 copies.
Thom| 7.15.11 @ 3:39PM
While no one is on the top of my list of possible Republican candidates at this point I am consistently reminded that the two possible women on the ticket get handed daily a double standard to deal with not simply by their natural enemies but by those that claim to be their “friends” from the past. Judas is a popular figure in political life going back as far as there are records. There is clearly a double standard at work here and one that will not set well with the female side of the Republican vote if this continues.
As for Palin being an opportunist, there isn’t a shred of evidence to support that going back a very long time in her life and public career. Unlike several RINOs in the current beauty contest she has been relatively consistent in her stances and beliefs and that has earned her a lot of enemies on both sides of the political fence along the way. Nothing new there and people who are not malleable to the pressures of all the special interest groups are often time painted at unfit for the office.
As for Palin being in this just for money, well money is the life blood politics and her detractors would be very hard pressed to find a single modern President that wasn’t already very well off or became so during and after their stay in the WH. King Obama could walk away tomorrow with more net wealth than the Clintons who claimed poverty during their run for the WH. Palin has never claimed to be Christ as I remember but the current and several Democrat Presidential candidates have come pretty close to taking on that mantle more than once. By the standards of the current King and his lying gasbag VP, one of my Cats is more qualified for said office.
Neither Palin nor Bachmann may make it to the nomination, get nominated or receive enough votes should they make it that far to overcome the Orcs that blindly follow the current King but if this double standard keeps on, who every the nominee is will fall short of the votes required because of this practice. If Christ is the standard bearer for a republican candidate for President then we all had better become comfortable with the current Devil and the consequences to come. Business as usual got us to where we are today. That practice won’t save us. The next President is going to have fall into their lap some pretty hard choices to make and that will make a lot of enemies within and without of the political spectrum and those that make a living off of that.
Hit pieces such as this POS aren’t worth my time. Judas is clearly a live and well.

I'm with you, if only to agitate Scott's other 80%. It will be a refreshing change when the people get exercised over the candidates instead of waiting for the MSM to pronounce the winner of the Iowa caucus and New Hampshire as the winner of the primary. The potential late entries of Palin and Perry are very upsetting to the professional pundit class. I couldn't be happier.
Scott| 7.15.11 @ 3:56PM
How is this really any big revelation? Anybody that hasn't completely been brainwashed by this woman just has to use some common sense to realize that her personal potential should have stopped at mayor of Wasilla.
Quiting in the middle of her first term as governor so she could go out and rake in the cash should tell anyone what kind of person we are dealing with here. She's an entertainment spectacle and should stick to the book circuit and Fox News, and raising money for candidates where she can.
She has zero shot at any type of politcial success on a national stage. Her and everyone around her know that. The only people that haven't gotten the message are the 15% or so of the population that are brainwashed.
Wayne | 7.15.11 @ 6:17PM

Thom| 7.15.11 @ 7:31PM
"Quiting in the middle of her first term as governor"
When your family is in debt to the tune of half a million dollars in legal bills due to 18+ frivolous lawsuits without a shred of evidence to back them up and facing bankruptcy your view might have some credibility. She would not have lasted two more years under the circumstances that put her there in just two years so try dealing with some facts for a change.

"A self-described "Fox News conservative" and evangelical Christian, author Frank Bailey was a staffer for Sarah Palin during her bid for the Alaska governorship in 2006."
If I remember correctly, David Brock also claimed to be a "conservative" man. Then he turned out to be a liberal homo.
There is one reason, and one reason only, that liberals hate Mrs. Palin: She did not kill Trig when she and Mr. Palin found out he had Downs Syndrome.
For liberals, there is only one proper response to being informed that your unborn baby (fetus in Latin) has Downs, or any defect (no matter how small): You must exercise your choice to kill your baby.
(So, you won't have to put up with all the inconvenience, hard work, and heartbreak which might be involved with raising such a child.)
I would hazard to guess that most liberals either know someone who killed their unborn baby (fetus in Latin) because of some perceived flaw (thanks to the evil amniocentesis), or, they have killed their own child based on such selfishness.
Every time they see Mrs. Palin with Trig, it is just another reminder of what they did.
Children are a blessing, liberals. Every child. They are not a burden, or, a disease, as many of you seem to believe.
Margie| 7.16.11 @ 2:19PM
Beautifully spoken, Nick. Especially paragraph 5, which is the real bottom line, sadly.
It reminded me of my 90 yr. old Great aunt now in a nursing home, who raised a daughter severely crippled by Cerebral Palsy, and who could never walk her whole life. She also had no teeth in her mouth and only her family could understand her when she spoke. She had to be carried from her bed to the toilet every day. Her Father used to carry her but when he died of Cancer in the late 70's, Mom and Son took over, along with the other 2 daughters.
She lived till her early 50's, and had one of the best lives anybody could have had, because of a loving family.
Some of the very best times of my life were spent at their house as a child and teen, and one of the daughters was also my best friend and pen pal.
LOVE means everything.
Bless you for your post.

Thanks, guys. And my cousin wasn't actually bound to her bed. After I reread my post it may have seemed that way, but no. She got around the house in a simply made metal frame that had a seat and wheels on it. They lived in a ranch. She came with us on vacations and her Dad would carry her through the woods in upstate NY where we would go to the lake.. it was called something like Sackindawga.. I don't know how to spell it. She joined us in our inner tubes in the lake as we floated along and had a blast. She never complained and we never knew her pain. She used to light up when we came to visit.
