A Further Perspective

Shakespearean Tragedy, Talmudic Comedy

Two overlooked players in the sorry Weiner episode.

Congressman Anthony Weiner has announced his resignation. Had he done so at any time during his prior thirteen years of service, I would have been overjoyed. No one has opposed him more consistently than I, ever since Charles Schumer groomed him as his replacement. In truth, Weiner never was a Congressman; he served as proxy for Schumer who was serving as a Senator and Representative simultaneously. I defy any eager beaver researcher to find me a single instance of Weiner voting differently than Schumer on any bill.

The two of them are the embodiment of that peculiar form of evil that plagues me to the core of my existence. Namely, Jews who use their national identity as a proto-religious identity, in essence presenting themselves as avatars of the Torah while promoting a secular agenda designed to undermine the moral system for which their ancestors lived… and died.

The fact that Weiner left over some crass peccadillo, some goofy monkeyshine, leaves me stewing in my usual brew of frustration. The falsehood of his ideology is never exposed. He remains in the public eye a man of compassion, battler for the middle class, wearing (in his own words) the “cape and tights” of the superhero. It is just that a personal failing sadly blockaded him from manning his barricade.

Baloney. His evil inheres not in his stupidity and his vulgarity but in his conception of virtue. It is Weiner at his best and brightest who is most pernicious. I wish that were seen in the wider world. (Little known story: Weiner’s first race for City Council in New York City was in a three-person race against a rabbi and a Republican woman who split the vote, allowing him to eke out a plurality. During the campaign he told the rabbi’s handlers that he was “going to kick him in the pants.” Whose pants kicked whom?)

My only consolation lies in the fact that the Talmud predicts this exact pattern of downfall. In a startling statement that never loses either its relevance or its shock value, the Talmud (Yoma 22b) posits this rule of history: “God does not establish a political leader in a community unless he has personal secrets (stated as ‘a box full of rodents’), so that if he becomes arrogant, they will be exposed.”

Thus, scandal is the Divine weapon of choice when a person is going beyond the appropriate bounds.

Weiner broke the wall between Congress and the Supreme Court, accusing individual Justices of bias. This breached a standard of decency and a philosophical protection that upholds the delicate structure of the American experiment. When he crossed the line, the box popped open and he was history. That is reality seen through the prism of Jewish revelation.

But in my mind the most important message remains that the shame is his deservedly, for reasons of substance. The bank robber was caught when he picked a pocket for a dollar. If Shakespeare had written this play he would have titled it this way: The Shaming of the True.

THIS BRINGS US TO THE OTHER PART of this story. For some reason, no one has looked at the second player in this sorry tale, the Secretary of State. Mrs. Weiner is her aide, so she was naturally along on the Secretary’s trip to the Middle East. Fine. But this was no grand summit to solve the world’s problems. This was a standard junket such as transpires with dreary unproductive regularity in the life of the Secretary, mattering little and accomplishing less.

Suddenly in the middle of their itinerary the aide’s home life blows up in a public way. Her husband is being humiliated daily in the press. Major life decisions have to be made. Whether or not she chooses at the end of the day to stand behind him, it is an elemental act of humanity to send her home to participate in the resolution. She can cry or she can yell or she can soothe, but whatever course of action she chooses, she needs to search her heart at her own hearth.

The fact that Madam Secretary never let this lady behave like a normal person betokens her cruelty and viciousness. Not one day early was she released from her duties. The press has overlooked this, as if there was nothing untoward about such behavior. What if her husband had a heart attack? What if he had a suicide attempt? Too bad, the Missus is busy massaging the Secretary’s feet in Morocco or something, while making a cultural visit to the mineral baths.

When will someone come along and put this nasty woman in her place? Methinks it is time to revert to the Bard’s original title: The Taming of the Shrew.

Hillary learned allot living in Bill's shadow all those years.

Alan Brooks| 6.17.11 @ 1:05PM

Weiner isn't a loser, though-
he will rake the big bucks in faster than you can say "have your show biz agent on speed dial"

Alan Brooks| 6.17.11 @ 8:15PM

This is something like what Weiner will do to get the dough:

“She’s making a sacrifice because she loves her kids,” Blagojevich told CNN’s Larry King Wednesday night. “Eating that tarantula like she had to is an act of love. It’s a sign that this is a mother who loves her children.”…
“I sure would have liked to have been the one to have to do some of the things that, unfortunately, Patti has to do,” the removed governor said. “It’s, you know, with mixed feelings that I watch that. It’s difficult to see her have to do something like this.”
“But it’s a way for us to make a living as we rebuild our lives, keep our kids in the same school that they’re in, stay in the same home that they’ve lived in for the past eight years and try to keep as much of a normal life for our children as possible, even though we have this short period of time in the month of June that their mom is gone”

Bill Hussein O'Stalin| 6.17.11 @ 7:07AM

It would have mattered little if she had returned home.

A skunk is still a skunk.

Alan Brooks| 6.17.11 @ 8:26PM

February 14th, 2012:
“She’s making a sacrifice because she loves her kids,” Weiner told CNN’s Larry King Wednesday night. “Eating that plate of fried giant cockroaches like she had to is an act of love. It’s a sign that this is a woman who loves her man.”…
“I sure would have liked to have been the one to have to eat a plate of centipede-- or whatever-- that, unfortunately, she has to do,” Weiner said. “It’s, you know, with mixed feelings that I watch that. It’s difficult to see her have to do something like this.”

alice moore| 6.17.11 @ 7:20AM

We don't know what was in Mrs. Weiner's heart and mind at the time.

BTW I hope no pictures of AW in a cape and tights surfaces. Ick.

florin| 6.17.11 @ 11:52AM

This is an absurd article...perhaps Mrs. Weiner did not want to return home until her husband had decided what to do...I'm an independent but this was a needless and vicious attack against Mrs. Clinton that has no basis in facts...only feelings disguised as facts. I'm surprised the American Spectator allowed this drivel to go through...shame!

Roscoe| 6.17.11 @ 4:42PM

By this, I'm making no comment on Jay Homnick's article, but I would say that if AmSpec allows Ben Stein's drivel, then anything goes.

Alan Brooks| 6.17.11 @ 8:29PM

Agreed on Stein,
when you read Stein you start to understand why people become Nazis.

Brian Mc| 6.18.11 @ 4:49AM

Alan, you vicious, little twerp. That is the most disgusting and unforgiveable thing I've ever read. How dare you.

cuban pete| 6.18.11 @ 8:25AM

Thanks Warrior and Brian Mc.
Brooks is beneath contempt.

Occam's Tool| 6.19.11 @ 2:43AM

I don't think that's Brooks. Too many Caps. Stinks of Clint.

Mutch Moore| 6.19.11 @ 2:21PM

Homnick's article "absurd?" Seems one would allow their own feelings to be substituted for fact to find any absurdity in this article. The Schumer proxy/Hillary moxie corollaries are brilliant whether it takes a few liberties with actual trip occurrences or not.

Soljer Blue| 6.18.11 @ 1:26PM

I simply ask: is the writer certain that AW's wife even WANTED to come home? Perhaps for any one of several reasons, she preferred to stay on the road and slightly off the radar.

Justice| 6.17.11 @ 7:23AM

The wife was sold in the Arabian way, and she comes from a vengeful tribe. The story is not complete.

Occam's Tool| 6.19.11 @ 2:44AM

alice moore| 6.17.11 @ 7:27PM

So is she the Delilah to Samson?

Hope N. Change| 6.18.11 @ 9:44AM

Has anyone investigated Huma's family? There are rumors that they are members of the Muslim Brotherhood.

Lullabys, Legends and Lies| 6.17.11 @ 7:29AM

The rumors that Hillary plows other fields has returned once again, which might be the reason why Mrs Weiner didn't return from that trip across the pond when her husband needed her most, to stand by him. She answers to a higher power, huh? I don't know, nor do I care, if their marriage will survive this scandal (personally I hope she takes him to the cleaners). So if their less-than-one-year union doesn't survive this, newly unemployed Mr Weiner would be wise not to decide to write a book about what he may or may not know about the Clintons, it never ends well for those who do that. Just stay quiet, and become a house-Husband-Dad, or else there will be no more sexting for you, EVER!!

I feel bad for Chuck Schumer too. Who's going to go get his coffee for him now that Anthony's gone? Now he's going to have to find another schmuck to fill this vacant seat, who'll hang on his every idea, parrot them like it's their own idea, who has no problem lying about almost everything on command, who's willing to tell Chuck just how great he really is, and how he doesn't look too bald at all, and how one day he'll end up being the President of the United States too!! Now that's a tough job to fill (especially while keeping a straight face)!! Most of the people in that New York District just can't lie like that all the time, without wanting to take photos of their junk, and sending them out across the internet to relieve the stress. It takes a very special type of weiner to fill that job, and you just don't find that many special wieners just standing on the corners in New York City, outside of the original weiner that is. So good luck to you Chuck (but you'll never be President, ever, because you're an unlikeable douche bag, which is why I'm not applying for this vacancy myself)!!

Kelly Staples| 6.17.11 @ 7:37AM

"Cape and tights"? What Falstaff could have done with that little nugget!

D| 6.17.11 @ 7:38AM

Mr. Homnick assumes that Huma actually loves her husband and would have preferred to stay home. I think that is a huge assumption. Do aspiring politicians marry other aspiring politicians for love?

John Navratil| 6.17.11 @ 8:16AM

D,

I suppose we could ask Bob and Liddy Dole. I've never figured out Matlin and Carville.

Patrick| 6.17.11 @ 11:41PM

Matlin and Carville? That's easy. Both are mercenaries that can capitalize on the gains of both sides.

Michael L. Hauschild| 6.18.11 @ 9:29AM

Nailed it!

Kilgore Trout| 6.18.11 @ 10:26AM

Oh you mean that homely woman married to a snake-headed person (alleged).

Mutch Moore| 6.19.11 @ 2:26PM

Wow D! That's a powerfully ponderous propound.

Joe R| 6.17.11 @ 8:03AM

Weiner did manage to accomplish something that I once considered an impossibility. He kept Chuck Schumer away from television cameras.

Gary| 6.17.11 @ 8:05AM

Regarding this Weiner scandal in the middle of DC society... what else is new? Since Clinton lowered the bar, it's the new standard of Democrat behavior. It's barely newsworthy.

jd| 6.17.11 @ 9:57AM

Exactly. This all leads back to Bill Clinton. He set the new "normal" for Democrats, and with Hillary mentoring Huma, you just know she will "stand by her man". All of them are gross.

Patrick| 6.17.11 @ 11:42PM

Clinton lowered the bar? No, he just got caught. The bar had been set underground long ago. Even JFK's flings were commonplace.

Sparky the Wonder Dog| 6.18.11 @ 11:07AM

Sparky, you are incorrect on our author of the Declaration of Independence. If you are a reader here, then you enjoy reading deeply on subjects, investigating for yourself, and not accepting the "latest" piece of pseudo gossip news as fact.

You are interested in facts & truth, not contrived myths, right?

Read about the life of Mr. Jefferson. Read how soon his wife died of natural causes after the births of their two daughters. And then keep reading.

There is a "sport" in our nation that has gone quite active for the last 30 years: Do all possible to tear down the Founders, their lives, their principles, their deeds. The aim: Prove they were not so great. Definitely prove they were not of Christian faith and ethics. Reason: If they were not so good, then we don't have to be good either. If they did not aim for virtue in the lives, well, then I mustn't trouble myself with "virtues" either.

Whew! Means I can be a closet flub & slacker, too, right?

Don't buy into it. Investigate.

Guys, I commented the other day that Mrs. Weiner is a member of the Islamic Brotherhood. The information was on a talk radio show and I don't know if this was truthful or not, but it is out there. Considering who her boss is there may be some fact to it. Yes, it sounds far fetched, but anything is possible with this administration. I was one of the first on this site to mention Operation Fast and Furious so don't discount the rumors.

Gary Aminoff| 6.17.11 @ 11:32PM

I don't think it was her that was a member of the Muslim Brotherhood. As I recall it is her mother and her brother.

Sparky the Wonder Dog| 6.18.11 @ 11:11AM

This all is not an anti-Zionist Islamic conspiracy, for those whose taste inclines towards such 1001 Arabian Nights confabulations. This is just a sorry twit who tweeted when his online life was under surveillance by conservative folks who had his number pegged.

Denver Todd| 6.17.11 @ 8:14AM

My big question is why NY elected Weiner to offce? What did they see in him?

Melvin| 6.17.11 @ 8:29AM

To have your question answered, see Christopher Orlet's, "Ghetto Love."

JimH| 6.17.11 @ 9:11AM

If you look at a map of his district you will see that it is strangely gerrymandered. There are, or were some pockets of very conservative voters who get overwhelmed by the liberal areas. I left Ridgewood for Tampa's sunny climes before Weiner's election but before him I had the misfortune of being represented by Chuck(the schmuck) Shumer and Geraldine Ferraro before him.

PJ| 6.17.11 @ 2:57PM

I had a strange feeling Ms Geraldine represented that district. The Jews in Forest Hills are incredibly liberal.

roadmaster| 6.17.11 @ 8:26AM

I wanted him to stay - Wiener was a perfect bookend to Debbie Blabbermouth Schultz. Trotting either of them in front of cameras, daily, is the best thing that could happen to the GOP.

Mike Hawk| 6.17.11 @ 8:28AM

Blabbermouth Schultz. makes Howlin' Howie seem rational in comparison.

Mike Hawk| 6.17.11 @ 8:26AM

Schmucky Schumer and Hildebeast are vicious, partisan, nasty political power junkies steeped in acrimony and venom. Weiner is their acolyte. Those are their good qualities. Take it from there.

Gary| 6.17.11 @ 8:30AM

Right! And they're representative of the whole of DC, with VERY few exceptions.

DaveS| 6.17.11 @ 8:42AM

Such small people believe they are so big. What a schmuck. And I don't refer to Weiner. We already know HE is.

PaulyD| 6.17.11 @ 8:43AM

Over the past three years, the faces of the Democratic Party have been Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, Hillary Clinton, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Barney Franks, Chuck Schumer, Anthony Weiner, and Debbie Wasserman Schultz.

As long as this continues, the Republicans have nothing to worry about in the next election.

Nancy in NC| 6.17.11 @ 8:51AM

Gary| 6.17.11 @ 9:08AM

Right, Nancy, with one exception in my case. I would have enjoyed Reagan's company. He was anti-establishment, which is, of course, why he was hated so much in those circles.

Occam's Tool| 6.17.11 @ 1:24PM

I would have enjoyed Joe Foss' company. Governor and the Marines' greatest ace of WWII (Pappy shot down some of his with the Flying Tigers---Foss shot down 26 and won the MOH).

I read this sad tale somewhat differently. Here are four (4) people, each supposedly serving their country as did our Founding Fathers (and in 3 cases Fathers AND Mothers) for a piddling salary until they can return to private life. What we have in reality are 4 people each with an agenda of their own, each with a burning desire to keep their face (in 1 case other body parts as well) in front of the fawning public to feed enormous egos and grow a Federal Government beyond all Constitutional limits and sanity.

Greek tragedy always gave the hero some sort of fatal element. In this case, egos, money, egos, money ...

bert| 6.17.11 @ 8:55AM

Wow, great posts and article.
Lets see here.
This Huma is a Muslim whose mother and father are members of the Muslim Brotherhood terrorist group.
Weiner was the very evil and corrupt Chuckie Schummer's flunkie.
She works for the Clinton Mob organization.
This Huma marries an ugly non practicing Jew
who Chuckie and the Clintonistas had lined up to be the next Mayor of NYC.
Does anyone see a miscarriage and divorce in the next six months ?
This true story reads like a terrorist/mystery /spy novel.
There is way more to this story and how can we find out ?
Hello,Weiner better hire a food taster real soon because dead stooges don't talk.

Stormzeye| 6.17.11 @ 9:19AM

Also, to add to the drama, isn't Huma subject to stoning or beheading or some such resolution of the lost honor of her tribe in that she, a practicing Moslem, married a Jew and carried his child? I'm sure the "miscarriage" will come soon.

Gary Aminoff| 6.17.11 @ 11:36PM

How do you know he didn't convert to Islam? Just sayin'

Sparky the Wonder Dog| 6.18.11 @ 11:14AM

As in the tweet-your-junk branch of Islam?

JP| 6.17.11 @ 9:19AM

What I thought odd when AW wed Huma (a Muslim). I read that her parents are devout Muslims, and despite living many years in the Midwest her mother returned to her homeland. Either Huma's religion didn't mean much to her, or something else was going on.

Perhaps it was diversity run amuck. What a better politically correct marriage than a New York Jew from Park Slope marrying a Muslim. One a high ranking partisan House member; the other being a kind of aide de camp to a female Sec of State. The sky was the limit. AW had his sights set on being mayor of New York. And the future First Lady of New York would have been a Muslim! Talk about prospects. I could just imagine the ambitions of AW. Being mayor of the Big Apple would have been a launching pad to the White House!

I don't know Huma from Puma. But, being under the wing of Hillary for so long is interesting. Did she subsume her love life for the political? Reminds me of all of those old marriages of between the Houses of Bourbon, Habsburg, Saxe Coburg, Romanovs, and Hoehenzollern. Very few were done out of love.

The AW scandal surely upset quite a few people with dreams of ambition twinkling in thier eyes. Probably the most upset is Billary. The dyanmic duo saw thier influence continuing forever in the form of Anthony-Huma.

Stormzeye| 6.17.11 @ 9:23AM

I agree. This arrangement is perhaps what drove AW to show his W to the little hotties he loved getting arousal from. His careerist wife was just as cold a comfort as was Hill to Bill.

DG in GA| 6.17.11 @ 9:54AM

Doesn't anyone remember the very convenient timing of Huma being married off to Weiner? It was during a time when there was quite a scandal brewing about Huma and Hillary being...umm..."companions." So rather than out Hillary, Bill married Huma off to Weiner. Huma continued to be Hillary's companion and very personal assistant, and when rumors rear their ugly heads, Hillary supporters just point to the "marriage" and question how anyone can think Huma and Hill are a couple when they're both MARRIED.

Gary| 6.17.11 @ 11:01AM

Regarding the moral degenerates in DC, ANY depravity is possible. And, as an ex-CIA friend instructed me, NOTHING is the political news can be taken at face value.

Sparky the Wonder Dog| 6.18.11 @ 11:17AM

Let's speculate about your private life. We have absolutely NO real information to go by so the sky's the limit. Hey, maybe the baby's Hillary's too! Oh wait, maybe she's carrying Bristol's lovechild!

Martie| 6.17.11 @ 9:23AM

I think that Huma could've come home if she'd wanted. I think she preferred being out of the country with Hillary.

Anthony| 6.17.11 @ 9:27AM

As I posted to the McCain blog, America is being ruled by a sociopathic, amoral, leftist, "progressive" political elite class, that is destroying America.
The Scuhmers, the Clintons, the Gores, the Obozos, et al and ad nauseam, are all characters out of a Dostoevski novel, where the "super race" rules with complete and total arrogance and authority.
Not one of these people have any practical, worldly, or business experience. They are all creatures who dwell in the cocoon of politics, yet speak with the authority idiot savants.
How is it that the good people of America, who made this country the great country that it is, allowed these vermim to take political control of America?
How is it that we Americans have not shouted ENOUGH with the arrogance and hubris of these political hacks, who lead with blind certainty, as they push America towards the precipice of doom?
Why do we still allow these reprobates to look down their noses at us?
The hang wringers who are ashamed of Sarah Palin, yet think the above named scum are the class of pols we need more of, had best wake the hell up.
We need real Americans with real values and common sense to take this country back to rational policies. The elites of leftist "progressiveism" have just about done in America.
Will we wake up in time to save America in 2012?
I say it's a 50/50 proposition.

Controse| 6.17.11 @ 11:13AM

You see while all the rest of us have been earning a living, raising a family the "fifth column" has been taking over our press, our culture, our universities, our public schools and thereby our politics. In our minds we were living in Norman Rockwell America working to build a future for ourselves and our children. That America is metamorphosing into a socialist heap of theft, decadence and servitude. Anyone standing for election AT ANY LEVEL as a Democrat must be voted down. Let's emulate Stalin's purges with ballots not bullets.

cuban pete| 6.17.11 @ 12:32PM

"AT ANY LEVEL as a Democrat must be voted down..." Controse you are exactly right. I voted for Mr.Reagan in 1984 and have never looked back. Prior to that I was a Cook County Illinois Democrat. This business with the Health Care made me start looking hard at the media and politicians in general. I was amazed to find out what has been going since I started raising a family and trying to have a career. More and more people are starting to question the media and what the politicians say. This has been a slow moving cancer and now it has finally come out in the light of day but the host is almost gone. The common answer for computer problems is a reboot and right now we need to reboot this government back to the original constitution with limits on the amount of laws that can be on the books to keep the lawmakers from writing frivolous laws to control our every move. Pray that it happens.

Peter McGrath| 6.17.11 @ 10:25AM

Someone on television asked, this morning, whether Weiner would have had to resign if he had come clean - and told the truth about his shenanigans - from the get-go.

The question was pointless. There was no way this type will tell the truth, ever, about virtually anything. His daily calling as a Leftist "progressive" Congressman was to lie, prevaricate, obscure, and misdirect. Virtually every sentence he has publicy enunciated has been a mistruth, a bromide, or a false slogan.

Bye bye to this twisted schmuck. But it's only a start.

Jack in Wi.| 6.17.11 @ 11:39AM

All I know is that almost all the elected Jews in congress hate Christian conservatives and love abortion. Most of them have forgotten the God of Abraham, Moses and Isiah and gone back to the gods Mamon, Baal, and Moloch. What do conservatives get from supporting Israel? The vast majority of Jews vote Democrat and give them a huge advantage in fund raising. No matter how much Bush and McCain kissed their booties, it didn't get them much in votes or money.

Occam's Tool| 6.17.11 @ 1:26PM

Jackboot Jack, you are a disgrace.

Jewish Guy| 6.17.11 @ 2:38PM

As a conservative Republican and Orthodox Jew, I am embarrassed and puzzled by the 78% of my American co-religionists who have the utter stupidity and/or lack of self-respect and/or lunacy to be in Obamao's camp and continue to be stalwart Dems--in spite of the fact that so many leftist Dems are thoroughly anti-Israel (meaning anti-Semitic) and make no bones about it. Talk about voting against one's and one's people's self-interest, earning like Episcopalians and voting like Puerto Ricans! But Jack in Wi. misses the critical point about supporting Israel--which is that the U.S. does so not because it likes Jews but because it always has been in the U.S.'s national interest to support Israel. And not just because of shared Judeo-Christian values (though that is undoubtedly a substantial basis for the support), but, much more, because Israel's strength is crucial for America's geopolitical welfare. Can anyone really posit with a straight face that if Israel were overrun by the Muslim/Islamic hordes (G-d forbid), the entire Middle East would be lost to the West (think oil, for example), Russia and China would move in, Iran would dominate without resistance, and Europe would be in serious trouble? Israel is the stop-gap, the bulwark against the Islamism that threatens us more by the minute. Perhaps the world's largest oil reserves (shale) and natural gas reserves have recently been discovered beneath Israel, with the strong possibility that the West can wean itself from Arab energy. Israel provides critical military intelligence that no one else can. Israel invents incredible amounts of military hardware and software that America uses. The U.S. supports and should support Israel not for the sake of the self-negating, foolish liberal American Jews, but because America NEEDS a strong Israel. Of course, the entire West does, too, but don't look for the growing throngs of Jew-haters in Europe to acknowledge that fact.

One more point should be made, which might get a better reception with intelligent, perhaps spiritual readers of this site than with the general population. The Torah that Christians and Muslims all purport to believe is true (if it isn't, then there is no basis for those religions or Judaism) states unequivocally that those who bless the Jews will be blessed, and those who curse the Jews will be cursed. History is replete with the rotting corpses of the Jews' tormentors: anyone seen Babylonia lately? The Romans? Assyrians? Third Reich? I recall Poland and Russia faring pretty badly, too. And Spain is in the most dire shape. Etc. It is not a stretch, if you believe in this sort of thing, to see that the U.S., in supporting Israel from its moment of birth until recently, has, until recently, been the strongest, richest, greatest country on the planet. Now, as Ovomit has turned against Israel, we can see America in steep decline. A coincidence? Well, real believers don't cotton to "coincidence"; we see G-d's hand in everything. America has always done right by Israel and by America for supporting Israel. Errant secular American Jews are not what America is supporting when she supports Israel. And for what it's worth, the Jews in Israel are not, by and large, leftists: supporting them is not supporting the Dems.

Johnny H| 6.17.11 @ 4:48PM

Thanks, Jewish Guy. Succinct. Without hyperbole.

Jack in Wi.| 6.17.11 @ 5:49PM

I follow the Greatest Jew who ever lived. He Who said ." The truth will set you free. " There is nothing in my post that anything but the absolute truth. Most elected Jews in Congress are radical pro abortionists, Zionists, and hate Christian conservatives. As to Israel being in the best intressts of the USA, that is laughable. It has been an albatross around the neck of America for 63 years. The hundreds of billions we have wasted in aid to Israel is nothing but an unconstitutional subsidy of your Jewish religion. How many lawsuits would the ADL, SPLC, and ACLU file if a Christian Church gets 5 cents from the government? If the Muslims are so bad why did Weiner marry one, Wolfowitz dump his wife for one, and DSK rape one in his hotel room. The only answer in Israel Palistine that ever made sense is one unitary state with equal rights for all Muslim, Jew, and Christian. There should never have been a Jewish state period. Islam was a backwater until stirred to a fever pitch by the founding of Israel and all the warlike acts of the Israeli's. Again I say conservatives get nothing for supporting Israel. Have a good sabbath. Peace to the Jews. Peace to the Muslims. Peace to the Christians . Peace to you.

Jewish Guy| 6.17.11 @ 6:10PM

Jack, oh, Jack,

Or should I have written, "Ahmed, oh, Ahmed"? You're about as Christian as I'm Hindu. You're too blunt; your hatred is too unbridled. Anti-semitism does nothing so much as reveal the sickness of the hater. What you wrote, in both posts, is so ignorantly nasty (not to mention poorly spelled and ungrammatical) as not to need explication for the thoughtful readers of this site. (I'm wondering how you got to it: Looking for "jihad" and hit the wrong button?) Next time, move the kefiyeh out of your eyes.

Oh, and have a nice day!

Jack in Wi.| 6.17.11 @ 6:45PM

I preach Love and Brotherhood baby. You boys are the ones preaching endless war and hate for people just because they are Muslims or Christians. I no more agree with the Prophet Mohammed than I do with you Zionists. But I still see you as my brothers and sisters, both Jew and Muslim. Peace to you on your sabbath.

Sparky the Wonder Dog| 6.18.11 @ 12:28PM

By "you Zionists" you mean "you Jews". And no, you are preaching demonization of the Jews right now, by repeating the unforgivable calumny, slander, and joke that, "you boys are the ones preaching endless war and hate for people because they are Muslims and Christians" when the only state in the Middle East where Arab Christians are not persecuted is, of course, Israel, the same state subjected to daily abuse and hatred and threats from foes who openly advocate not only the erasure of political Israel but the world-wide liquidation of Jews, from mosques and shuks in Tehran, in Egypt, in Lebanon.

You do not see us as brothers, you preach the old "theology of contempt". If there are no facts to give any evidence that the Jews/Zionists preach "endless war" you rely upon the phantoms of your imagination.

The Christ you claim to worship is not even the Christ of Christianity, not the "greatest Jew" certainly or the Redeemer of agape and the promised Parousia but a stick figure you can wave about to beat the Jews over the head. Not "the greatest Jew" nor Christ Messiah but the anti-Jew, the shadow of shadows you substitute for the emblem of the Christian faith and the crucified redeemer.

It is not that you disdain the Jews because of Christian scripture but that you stand upon (trod upon) Christian scripture as you would trod upon an abused and muddied soapbox, since from it you can declaim your contempt for Jews to the street corner hounds in the dimly lit streets of lights-out prejudice.

Someone whose Christ is a club with which to beat the Jews does not have much of a Christ at the center of their barren heart of faith, has no substance to encourage the souls with which they commune in their daily life.

Occam's Tool| 6.19.11 @ 3:00AM

Mimi| 6.18.11 @ 8:13AM

Jack....As we speak, NOW Christians are being killed all over the Middle East their Numbers are dwindling. In Iraq, there were many more Christians there when Saddam was in power.
The conflict between muslims and Jews began in the late 1920's long before WWII. (a recent poster corrected me , saying it has gone on for thousands of years.) But in recent times the REAL HATRED escalated.
Most all Christians treasure the Jewish faith...Christ, the son of ALL OUR GOD was Jewish...Our faith was born of the Jewish faith!
If LAW is in this WORLD the Land given by the U.N. to the Jews is legitimate. Most conservatives, as myself fully support Israel and take offense to your POST!

Jack in Wi.| 6.18.11 @ 9:10AM

I condone no violence be it Muslim on Christian or Jew. Be it Jew on Christian and Muslim. Be it Christian on Jew or Muslim. The Jewish people when they have a chance have invariably persecuted and killed Christians and Muslims. Before Hitler ever received a vote in Germany many millions of Christians had been massacred in the Soviet Union. Every leader of Bolshivism would have been eligible for citizenship in Israel. That includes, Lenin who had a Jewish grandfather, Stalin who had a Jewish wife, and Derysnsky, the founder of the Checka, who had a Jewish father. The Jewish historian Richard Pipes has stated that the rise of Hitler was impossible without Communism. I say Communism was impossible without your people. Now we can rehash history forever. You chose to to live in the Middle East. It is up to you to learn how to live with your neighbbors, who were there far longer then you. If you don't like the neighbors find a new neighborhood.

Sparky the Wonder Dog| 6.18.11 @ 11:29AM

No, you are a compulsive anti-Semite who not only condones but incites to violence. Stalin was not Jewish and didn't need any Jewish relatives to be who he was. Marx was a C-h-r-i-s-t-i-a-n whose conversion invalidated his Jewish personal status. Christian Jewhaters such as yourself, eventually drove the Jewish Bolsheviks out of the party in the Great Terror starting in the 30's and going up to the "anti-cosmopolitan" campaigns in the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe in the 50's. The Stalinist gang so was enthusiastic about your anti-Semitic outlook (this is probably a very important and essential part of your day-to-day identity) that they planned a massive pogrom to kill or exile to Siberia every Jew in the Soviet Union. But Stalin died. We can't "rehash history" with you because you only will dredge up further semi-literate factoids about how the Jews are responsible for Hitler. If you don't like your life try to get a hobby. Jews are the least of your problems.

Mutch Moore| 6.19.11 @ 3:20PM

Jack's "semi-literate factoids" seem to have weighty import- enough to induce lengthy A.S. loquacity to the extent that I need t scroll up to see what the original article was about. Not complaining though. It is actually more interesting than said article.

Sparky the Wonder Dog| 6.18.11 @ 11:56AM

By the way 6,000,000 Jewish civilians did not vanish off the face of the earth because they transgressed against the "neighbors" who butchered them. Since the "neighborhood" of Israel has been Israel since before the beginning of the Islamic faith, this time the "neighbors" will have to adjust their anti-Semitic hatred, work on their own attitude, or prepare themselves for the kind of squalid self-defeating megalomaniac hubristic rise and fall that was the destiny of that paradigmatic empty reed Jew hater (and Christian hater) who ended his futile earthly existence in a concrete bunker surrounded by the ruins of the nation his fanatic hatred betrayed.

Nick| 6.18.11 @ 2:55PM

So throw away your PC's. The latest generation of Intel chips were developed by Israel. And your generic meds too. Never should have been a Jewish state? Really. Sez who? It began 3,500 years ago as a Jewish state so that ship sailed.

Mutch Moore| 6.19.11 @ 2:58PM

ditto thanks Jewish Guy. The Jew vote must give demographers fits. This paradox, why any self respecting Jew would vote liberal democrat, has puzzled me as well. There are entire books on this Stonehenge-like enigma. Thanks for taking the time Sir and God Bless you.

Jewish Guy| 6.19.11 @ 10:29PM

Thanks, Mutch. I got some clarity on this perplexing question from N. Podhoretz's recent book, "Why Are Jews Liberal." He makes the point that a large portion of Jews who came to America from Europe were not religious, brought with them leftist European utopian notions, and made their "religion," in their new home, liberalism, socialism, et al. It's notoriously difficult to dislodge anyone from his religious beliefs no matter how clearly you articulate the truth, for asking a person to do that is to ask him to give up what is most important to him. So the secularist liberals have a tremendous stake in not looking closely at the emperor or his wardrobe. Perhaps that's one of the reasons why religiously observant Jews are usually not liberals: not only does the current strain of Godless secular liberalism contradict all or nearly all Torah values; also, religious Jews don't need politics to stand in for religion.

It is said that only 20% of the Jews in Egypt escaped Pharoah when they had the chance, and that the remaining 80% preferred to stick around. The number 78%--the amount of Jews who voted for Obamanation--is eerily close; perhaps they, too, are destined to disappear from the scene as they not only tolerate but also participate, even if unknowingly, in Ovomit's purposeful undoing of the Jewish homeland with its millions of Jews.

What conservatives get is a "Palestine" that doesn't look like one big hole in the ground. Mamon? Moloch? What is this drech? Yahweh was actually based on the god Rabinowitz, a dry cleaner in Ziggarut, Mesopotamia on his off-days. When told there were gentiles who not only didn't believe in His beneficence but in fact hated Him he replied, "Was there too much starch in their pants, or were they just born with a rash on their pupik?"

gazinya| 6.17.11 @ 12:26PM

We all feel extreme sadness over the 9/11/01 tradegy of the terrorists' attack upon NYC, but not so much when those idiots up there display the ACTING STUPIDLY of electing morons such as Schumer, Weiner and Clinton. It was revealing to me when Weiner supposedly apologized to Bill in his I HAVE SINNED UNTO YOU , OH MY LORD fashion. No doubt, with the Clinton's ultimate friendship with Weiner's wife, no doubt Weiner was concerned that if he alternatively confessed his sorrow to Hillary instead, he might have received an Elena Bobbett reaction from her!!!!!

Jesus: Who is my God said. " The truth will set you free. Those who live by the sword will die by the sword. What you do to the least of my brothers you do unto me. Love your neighbor as yourself. Turn the other cheek and turn it again and again. " Israel is against what my God teaches. I believe there are no more Jews or Gentiles. We are all one in Jesus Christ. I believe in the universal brotherhood of all mankind and that includes both Jews and Muslims.

The book of Leviticus aka The Law of Moses tells Jews to treat the aliens among you as you would yourselves. It also tells you to love your neighbor as yourselves. The Savior Of The World tells the rest of the world the same thing. It is time you got with God's program.

OH My Jay,
Such a rightious first half of this brilliant revelation..yeah yeah, sure, Weiner ugh, Schumer double ugh, he offered to kick a rabbi in the pants (so what?) ..and then from this "boxfull of rodents" we have a slicko segue, via the 22nd Yoma into the throbbing heart of the matter...the strange "rapport" in existance between the two ladies: Mrs. W and Mrs C.....Of course Hillary did not forbid her aide to revisit Babylon as you well knew when you printed this illusory..consolation was best found for her with Milady C, not at the homely hearth which she and Mr W share on the Island..may I offer to you another Talmudic passage:
Folio 2a
CHAPTER I MISHNAH. FIFTEEN
in which the categories of forbidden mates are listed in depth and detail AD INFINITUM, one searches in vain for any proscription against the wife and her boss..her "zarah" or rival is ergo, ipso facto Mr. W.. and I loosely invert and paraphrase..:
Heb., zarah, [H] 'rival'. Where a wife has more than one husband, each husband is a zarah in relation to the other.

By George I think you've got it!

Yours,
Claudia

Judy| 6.17.11 @ 9:19PM

I did think it very odd that she remained overseas when her husband could have used her wifely counsel on this family matter. Just odd, very odd.

Can you picture the scene. Mrs. Wiener goes to Mrs. Clinton, says "you will never believe what my husband did." and then describes what The Wiener did. Mrs. Clinton listens, says, "That's nothing, sit down, this will take a while, listen to what my husband did and does.'

Had Huma entered the scene, the media frenzy would have been even greater. From that standpoint, she did the smart thing by staying out and keeping silent. Don't we all wish more of these DC Creatures From the Black Lagoon would to the same? The whole place is a moral cesspool.

Rich D| 6.18.11 @ 1:03PM

I don't think so - they do have a private place to stay and talk. But is concern for the media the priority?

Rich D| 6.18.11 @ 2:13AM

Jack, it does seem that you take your quotations out of context. Your history seems to be as faulty as your theology. Islam was not a backwater - it has been spread by force since its beginning. Also, using the term "Zionist" as an epithet is not helpful.

Perhaps a few weeks in solitude with the book of Romans would help, assuming that you wouldn't mis-interpret it, too.

Jack in Wi.| 6.18.11 @ 9:20AM

When Israel was planted in the Middle East, Islam had been a backwater, intellectually, militarily, and economically for centruies. We had good relations with the Muslims and FDR promised the King of Saudi Arabia that we would never continence and independent Jewish state. Ever since Israel was founded and especially since Johnson was President, we have been stuck in a twilight zone regarding Israel. It gets worse and worse. Israel could of had a peace decades ago but refuses to do so. America is broke. We can't carry the burden of these wars any longer. Israel is a terrible idea only getting worse. If Israel can't make peace and live in the neighborhood it is time for the Jews to wander somewhere else. We can't keep carrying you on our backs.

Rich D| 6.18.11 @ 1:07PM

Peace? Israel was attacked immediately.

The Muslims took more slaves out of Africa than the Portuguese and Spanish did - 12-14M vs. 6M. They still take and hold slaves.

As I am not a Jew, I will take "carrying you" as a compliment.

W| 6.18.11 @ 6:49PM

what exactly do you want Israel to do?

Occam's Tool| 6.19.11 @ 2:53AM

For Centuries. Like the Turkey which kicked British ass. Like the Turks who almost took Vienna in the 17th Century.

No, Jack, what got the Arabs moving again was OPEC, which allowed for demographic changes. But that's OK. You are an antisemite by my definition---anyone who tries to make it harder for Jews to survive. It's a straightforward definition gthat allows much legitimate criticism of Israel. But it does not allow for you, scumbag.

Occam's Tool| 6.19.11 @ 2:54AM

Occam's Tool| 6.19.11 @ 2:56AM

Jack, you support the rape of 9 year old girls. You are a vicious piece of filth.

W| 6.19.11 @ 4:41PM

Jack, Israel could disband as a state, and transfer all authority to the PLO. That would not end the verbal and terroristic attacks on Jews there. The PLO would never give full, equal citizenship rights to Jews in their state. They keep saying they want to destroy Israel, and drive all the Jews out. Why don't we believe that? Their intent is clear and they repeat daily. So, the question is what would you have Israel do now?

Your premise that Anthony "Big Tony" Wiener may be familiar with "Yoma 22b" is almost certainly misplaced. Anyone capable of threatening, albeit indirectly, a rabbi for political reasons is a pretender at best. What does the Torah say about "false jews"? A box of rodents, indeed.

Sparky the Wonder Dog| 6.18.11 @ 11:04AM

You know, maybe the wife just didn't want to go home at that moment and wasn't in the mood to rescue or support or get in the way of her husband's self-inflicted humiliation. This was his stupidity; why get between Anthony and Anthony's well-deserved shame? Could be that was the consensus in the Secretary's circle, including her own less flamboyantly and destructively straying husband.

Rich D| 6.18.11 @ 1:08PM

What kind of marriage is that?

kerry| 6.19.11 @ 3:39AM

Huma's mother and brother have very close ties to a terrorist organization, the Muslim Brotherhood. Huma, born in the US but raised in Saudia Arabia, with parents who obviously sympathize with radical jihad, is married to a far left progressive who wishes communism on the United States. There is a marriage here, but not the type of marriage that warms my heart. It is a marriage of two very evil, anti freedom and murderous ideologies, radical Islam and marxism. All with the blessing of America's first black president, and (who knew?) and first President Pastor, Billy Clinton!

Jack, you spend all your, time criticizing Israel, the most Democratic and humane state in the M.E. and no time lashing out at the Islamic states, which expelled Jews, engage in barbaric violations of human rights, forbid Christians or Jews from practicing their faith.
