Farewell to Weiner

His three-week scandal reaches its pathetic conclusion.

Three weeks ago, Anthony Weiner was a rising star in the Democratic Party, an influential spokesman for the progressive movement and, quite possibly, the next mayor of New York City.

Today, Weiner is a despised figure so thoroughly disgraced, even in the eyes of the most partisan Democrats, that he is unlikely to have any future in politics. In the process of stringing out his bizarre scandal for nearly three weeks — the first 10 days of which were spent telling one implausible lie after another — Weiner damaged himself and his party in a way that would not have happened had he resigned much sooner. By the time Weiner gave his resignation speech Thursday in New York, he was such a pariah that even his political mentor, Sen. Charles Schumer, would not even speak publicly in his defense, instead issuing a brief statement wishing Weiner well.

How deeply disgraced is Weiner? The Clintons are reportedly “disgusted” and “livid” at the former New York congressman who last year married Hillary’s longtime aide, Huma Abedin, at a ceremony officiated by Bill. It takes an awful lot to disgust the Clintons, obviously, but in stubbornly trying to survive his “virtual sex” scandal, Weiner had hurt the Democratic Party in a way that Bill never did in surviving his own (real) sex scandal more than a decade ago.

Why didn’t Weiner survive, when Clinton did? Advances in technology explain much of the difference. It is impossible to estimate how much worse the Lewinsky scandal might have been had Monica and Bill’s trysts occurred in the age of the cell-phone camera, Twitter and Facebook. Whereas in 1998, Americans could only imagine the Oval Office encounters between the president and his chubby 20-something former intern, the digital images that defined the scandal known as WeinerGate left little to the imagination. There was also a transcript of Weiner’s sexually explicit Facebook exchanges with Las Vegas blackjack dealer Lisa Weiss, and the fact that Weiner’s Twitter correspondents included both a blonde porn star and a 17-year-old high school girl with a penchant for freely employing the F-word in her online communications.

In retrospect, it is possible to see Friday, June 11, as the day on which it became clear that Weiner was doomed. The scandal had begun two weeks earlier — late on the evening of Friday, May 27 — when Weiner sent a lewd photo of his crotch as a Twitter message addressed to a 21-year-old college student from Seattle. While Weiner first attempted to explain this as the work of “hackers” or a “prank,” further revelations forced the congressman to call a June 6 press conference where he admitted the truth: He had meant to send that photo as a private message and by a simple error had sent it publicly to the more than 40,000 people following his Twitter account. At that press conference, Weiner confessed to having carried on a half-dozen “online relationships” with women, but vowed he would not resign.

That vow became non-operational June 11, when police in Delaware showed up at the home of Weiner’s teenage Twitter correspondent. Although police said they found no evidence of criminality, and Weiner said there was nothing “indecent” in his private Twitter exchanges with the teen, the very fact that he had been in communication with her was disturbing. In light of what was already known about Weiner’s other “online relationships,” talking dirty and sending pictures of his penis to women he’d never met, for him to have a 17-year-old among his Internet contacts… well, it just looked bad. Within 24 hours, three top Democrats — including House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, both of whom had previously defended Weiner — called for his resignation. And as if to put an exclamation mark on the scandal, the morning of Sunday, June 13, saw the release of still more embarrassing photos of Weiner he had taken of himself posing in the congressional gymnasium.

In the wake of Weiner’s resignation Thursday, some observers speculated on possible scenarios by which the disgraced Democrat could somehow repair his reputation and make a comeback. Yet such speculations are as silly as previous speculations that he might somehow survive the scandal and remain in office. Weiner did not merely betray his wife — a sin which liberals are evidently willing to forgive their political heroes — but he also betrayed his party. When the scandal first made headlines, Weiner lied to Pelosi and other Democratic leaders. He then selfishly sought to hold onto his office, extending the media-grabbing scandal at a time when Democrats had hoped to capitalize on their win in last month’s special election in New York’s 26th District. All that Weiner did by delaying his resignation was to increase his own disgrace, and decrease the chances that any Democrat would ever support his return to politics in the future.

Weiner essentially destroyed himself, but not without timely assistance from conservative New Media entrepreneur Andrew Breitbart. It was Breitbart’s BigGovernment.com that first broke the WeinerGate story, and it was Breitbart who published the photos that forced Weiner into his June 6 confession. Late Thursday night in the lobby of the Hilton Hotel in Minneapolis, where he is speaking at this weekend’s Right Online conference, Breitbart gave credit to the 26-year-old single mother who had received those photos from Weiner.

“It was Meagan Broussard — she was the one who destroyed him,” said Breitbart, explaining how he’d encouraged her to come forward for interviews with ABC News and Sean Hannity of Fox News.

Some may doubt that Weiner has indeed been “destroyed,” but not Breitbart, who was offering to buy rounds for liberals at the Hilton lobby bar. They probably needed a stiff drink after three weeks of Weiner.

Actually, Clinton was and is a perjuror. Lucky for him that the Senate socialist scum circled the wagons and wouldn't let their boy be booted. We didn't need any pictures of that. We had sworn testimony. Weeny boy is just a congressman and one who even before this was despised by many thanks to his tantrums, anger management problems and boundless hubris.

It's fitting that he had to resign in disgrace because of a sex scandaland he didn't even get any sex in the deal.

Michael Tomlinson| 6.17.11 @ 7:37AM

Cosmo| 6.17.11 @ 7:38AM

Just another in a long line of liberal scandals:
Rockefeller, Kennedy, Spitzer, Clinton, Schwartzenegger, Packwood, Edwards, Gore,
DSK, Weiner, Barney Fwank, Mark Foley.

Rocky| 6.17.11 @ 7:44AM

All pro-abortion goons.

RCV| 6.17.11 @ 11:22AM

Shall we list all the disgraced fundamentalist "Christians"?

Drunken Sailor| 6.17.11 @ 11:37AM

Go ahead. That still doesn't absolve Weiner though does it?

RCV| 6.18.11 @ 1:03AM

Absolutely not. But stupidity and immorality aren't confined to liberals or conservatives.

Truth to Power| 6.18.11 @ 3:11PM

The circle the wagons mentality of liberals is what makes the difference. The threat to strip Weiner of his committees took quite a while. The rank and file followed the blame Breitbart strategy, the nothing illegal happened strategy, the we are distracting from the real issues strategy, etc. The special disgusting nature of the Democratic Party is reflected in its RCVs, not in the expected failures of their leaders. The Democratic Party has always been the party that defends bad behavior. Stay in California, bozo. You are unsustainable.

Truth to Power| 6.17.11 @ 11:37AM

The difference is not in the fallen but it those like you that have flocked around them. You are the ones you have been waiting for. When you get through dragging California down, please just stay there. The rest of the country is not waiting for you.

Occam's Tool| 6.17.11 @ 12:05PM

Yes, but Weiner wasn't nice.

Reprobate Charlatan Vomitus| 6.17.11 @ 12:13PM

I don't bother with silly lists of all the disgraced fundamentalist Christians at least AFTER they're born on not bothering with silly Christians whether fundamentalist or nonfundamentalist or anywhere in between at least AFTER they're born on the fact that intelligence and honesty requires even the most silly pathetic despicable unintelligent dishonest asswipe whether 64 years of age or any other age at least AFTER they're born to acknowledge every Christian at least AFTER they're born has been a disgrace more times than comfortable to ponder at least AFTER they're born on this being particularly true of silly Christians at least AFTER they're born espousing support of the 'legal' abortion of 53 million innocent at least they're NEVER born Americans and other anti-Christian at least AFTER they're born matters.

Teaghan| 6.17.11 @ 1:03PM

Are you ill?

Reprobate Charlatan Vomitus| 6.17.11 @ 2:03PM

I don't bother with silly failure to understand mockery and imitation of a specific liberal troll's specific ridiculous post of mindboggling dishonest stupidity won't be a pretty sight on mockery and imitation in general of the specific liberal troll's general stupidly prattling on and on and on definitely not being a pretty sight matters.

Funeral Guy | 6.17.11 @ 11:09PM

Are you having a bipurtation?

Occam's Tool| 6.17.11 @ 12:42PM

The difference is that the Republicans resign when confronted. The Democrats argue that since they are swine anyway and everyone knew that beforehand, that they shouldn't. And then they wonder at the lack of respect.

In all seriousness, RCV, I believe that power corrupts and that politicians crave it. That's why I am a small government Conservative, except on foreign policy (where you and I agree a lot, you being a Scoop Jackson type of guy). If you deny them power, they are freer to be true to their natures with less deleterious consequences to the public they serve.

Bob Livingston knew when to go. Weiner just disgraced himself.

Larry| 6.17.11 @ 1:43PM

Hey jerk, the difference is difference is that Chrisitans, far from being perfect, aspire to be better and aspire to live good and moral lives.

Left wing looney liberal scum never aspire to anything other than complete and total power over other people. They live life without morals. Theirs is a philosophy of "if it feels good, do it". That's exactly what your weeny boy did.

ToddBeaucoudray| 6.17.11 @ 11:13PM

Oh, that's bull! You're merely excusing your own. David Vitter was aspiring to live good and moral when having sex with hookers in a diaper in a brothel? If you think he wasn't doing it because it felt good, you're just blinded by biased hatred.

Occam's Tool| 6.20.11 @ 12:08AM

I shall not retort to you personally, RCV. Instead, I will leave you to the MIGHTY IOWAHAWK:

"Weinermandius
Alas, it appears now that no one will be cashing in on my Weiner Hacker bounty. To reflect on this solemn occasion, I would like to offer a bit of poetry (with apologies to Percy Bysshe Shelley).

I read a hyperlink from a Twitter sage
Who said: "A vast and trunkless dick of stone
Stands in an archive. Near it on the page,
Half sunk, a shattered screencap lies, whose tone
And wrinkled pecs and leer of middle age
Tell that its subject kept that poontang rapt
Who yet discuss, in coed Facebook throngs,
The man who chased them and his hand that fapped.
And on the EXIF these words appear:
`My name is Weinermandius, Dong of Dongs:
Look on my junk, ye mighty, and despair!'
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal bulge, manscaped and bare,
The lonely intertubes stretch far away."

Tony R| 6.17.11 @ 7:28PM

Let's just call it what it is - pro-infanticide.

And liberals are proud of it.

ToddBeaucoudray| 6.17.11 @ 11:19PM

Actually, it's pro-choice because we believe carrying out one's pregancy full term is the choice of the pregnant woman.

The opposition should call itself pro-force, not pro-life, if they insist on not caring for the fetus once it is outside of the womb. How can you complain about abortion and welfare at the same time? Is it better to force women to have babies that will only be denied when out of the womb?

Do you know anything about the rate of naturally aborted fetuses and babies born with significant deformities? When I say deformities, I mean ones so severe, the baby dies when it's no longer attached to the mother because it cannot survive on its own.

Alan Brooks| 6.17.11 @ 11:46PM

"Some may doubt that Weiner has indeed been destroyed"

Was Blagojevich destroyed? no. If Blago was destroted by making x hundreds of thousands in the last 2 1/2 years, then we sould all be so destroyed.

Anthony M| 6.18.11 @ 3:04PM

Are you pro-choice on murder? How about infanticide? I mean what happens if a baby is born with deformities or illnesses or maybe the mother feels she's missing out on going out to the bars and cool Katy Perry concerts? Once the human life has been concieved, it becomes murder, plain and simple. Maybe, just maybe, there was a time when it could be argued that a baby in the womb was not yet "human", but with all the scientific advances we have made in the last thirty years with sonograms and MRIs and prenatal surgery, the argument has been proven false. Birth control is readily available and often free and a girl can still say no. The choice is made prior to conception, not after.

Occam's Tool| 6.19.11 @ 3:22AM

And physician assisted euthanasia is also fine because that's "pro-choice." So being sued for refusing to kill a patient will become an option.

I love the "Culture of Death." No wonder we're losing to the sharia advocates.

beebop| 6.19.11 @ 5:14AM

All of what you say might have some credence if there wasn't a baby involved. How easy it must be to think of the process as "a pregnancy" as if it is merely the woman who is impacted.

The Clintidote| 6.18.11 @ 11:31PM

Don't forget Gerry Studds, the disgusting homo pervert who was screwing 17-year-old teenage boys in the Capitol Hill bathrooms.

Being a democRAT, of course, ass-raping kids is just fine, and the 'RATs let Studds stay.

beebop| 6.19.11 @ 5:10AM

Did I miss a conversion? Isn't Arnold a republican?

Mike Hawk| 6.19.11 @ 9:50PM

Ahnold is a RINO married to a Kennedy. What would you expect??

SonOfSam| 6.17.11 @ 8:19AM

Clinton got away with it because he was opposed by decent conservatives who thought they only needed the facts to win their argument. As if!! Andrew Breitbart had the facts, and he had PICTURES.

The truth may set us free, but pictures will get things done.

Breitbart -- a conservative who understands how to WIN in the fight for what's right

Alan Brooks| 6.17.11 @ 1:03PM

However, psychology is limited to generalities in the human condition. Everyone is unique and so it is impossible to give a "blanket" statement that would be correct for everyone.

Alan Brooks| 6.17.11 @ 8:03PM

... but having written that, just look at Weiner's frown in the photo:
he will be frowning all the way to the bank and that transcends all psychology-- what was once normal no longer is; being naughtie-poo pays royally. If felonious Blagojevich could make hundreds of thousands in the last 30 months, Weenie can do the same. He might do better financially than he would have had there been no scandal!

Today crime DOES pay.

Alan Brooks| 6.17.11 @ 11:41PM

One more time, so you get it straight what I wrote above:
Weiner might do better than he would have had there been no scandal. Blagojevich with help from his wife has almost certainly done better than he would have had he not been caught selling Obama's Illinois seat.

old white guy| 6.18.11 @ 11:11AM

the world could be on fire and the media would still run with something like the weiner scandle. the guy is an idiot and should have been kicked out on day two.

Kenny| 6.17.11 @ 7:03AM

It's a real hoot to real that Bill Clinton is 'disgusted' over Weiner behavior.

By the way, did you hear the questions that were shouted out a Weiner during his resignation speech? Well, that is exactly what should happen to Clinton whenever he shows his face in public.

alice moore| 6.17.11 @ 7:14AM

I think the reason that AW disgusted the Clintons is because, first, he was caught, and second, because he was such a terrible liar.

The national Democrats also know that AW's congressional seat is a safe seat. They did go to the mat for him for 3 three weeks though.

SonOfSam| 6.17.11 @ 8:14AM

AND, because Andrew Breitbart got PICTURES! The truth may set us free, but pictures will get things done.

Breitbart -- a conservative who understands how to WIN in the fight for what's right

The Clintidote| 6.18.11 @ 11:36PM

BJ Clinton is an impeached, perjuring, disbarred rapist - it's not possible to disgust that slimetrail stain on our country in the slightest.

Mike Hawk| 6.19.11 @ 9:52PM

It may not be a safe seat. Under re-apportionment of the last census, NY loses seats and Weiners district may be re-apporioned out of existence.

Tony R| 6.17.11 @ 7:32PM

I like the heckling aspect. Liberals are never hesitant to interrupt and heckle any speaker they object to, so giving them a little of their own medicine is great. However, the loudest and crudest heckler was a Howard Stern plant.

ToddBeaucoudray| 6.17.11 @ 11:20PM

More of a "hoot" the Right is if you ask me. Clinton has no moral superiority for certain, but then, neither do the Republicans.

John Navratil| 6.17.11 @ 8:06AM

To the Dems, ethics are always situational. Clinton was every bit the liar - "I don't not have sexual relations with that woman", he said wagging his finger at us - but he was popular, relatively good-looking, politically necessary and a good fund raiser.

Weiner has nothing. Just as arrogant as Clinton, he alienated almost everyone with his antics. He looks as if he has already been hit by the bus he is being thrown under. He was completely expendable.

Larry| 6.17.11 @ 9:52AM

You thought the stain maker was good looking? I always thought of him as the who proved you could be a runner and still be a fat, overweight slob.

John Navratil| 6.17.11 @ 11:51AM

Well, I have to say my wife and my mother love me, even though I'm no great looker, myself.

Occam's Tool| 6.17.11 @ 12:47PM

Dear Larry,

regarding Clinton, let me refer you to a story about another disreputable slob: (Thanks, Boney M)

"There lived a certain man in Russia long ago
He was big and strong, in his eyes a flaming glow
Most people looked at him with terror and with fear
But to Moscow chicks he was such a lovely dear
He could preach the bible like a preacher
Full of ecstacy and fire
But he also was the kind of teacher
Women would desire

RA RA RASPUTIN
Lover of the Russian queen
There was a cat that really was gone
RA RA RASPUTIN
Russia's greatest love machine
It was a shame how he carried on

He ruled the Russian land and never mind the czar
But the kasachok he danced really wunderbar
In all affairs of state he was the man to please
But he was real great when he had a girl to squeeze
For the queen he was no wheeler dealer
Though she'd heard the things he'd done
She believed he was a holy healer
Who would heal her son

(Spoken:)
But when his drinking and lusting and his hunger
for power became known to more and more people,
the demands to do something about this outrageous
man became louder and louder.

"This man's just got to go!" declared his enemies
But the ladies begged "Don't you try to do it, please"
No doubt this Rasputin had lots of hidden charms
Though he was a brute they just fell into his arms
Then one night some men of higher standing
Set a trap, they're not to blame
"Come to visit us" they kept demanding
And he really came

RA RA RASPUTIN
Lover of the Russian queen
They put some poison into his wine
RA RA RASPUTIN
Russia's greatest love machine
He drank it all and he said "I feel fine"

RA RA RASPUTIN
Lover of the Russian queen
They didn't quit, they wanted his head
RA RA RASPUTIN
Russia's greatest love machine
And so they shot him till he was dead

(Spoken:) Oh, those Russians... "

Hell, I'm a psychiatrist with 18 years private practice experience and thousands and thousands of patients treated, and I cannot figure out what women find attractive in a man consistently. Men are simple beasts in comparison (including me).

Drunken Sailor| 6.17.11 @ 5:30PM

Preach it brother. Still can't figure out what my wife see's in me but I am not going to argue against my good fortune.

Bob Grant| 6.17.11 @ 5:43PM

Clinton was outraged at Weiner for getting to Ginger Lee first.

I did...not....have...sex...with...that...woman Hillary Clinton!

alice moore| 6.17.11 @ 7:15PM

The economy was pretty good under Clinton(more thanks to the GOP Congress). It is amazing what John Q. Public will forgive with a full fridge, decent car, a secure job, and lot of circuses,

Bruce| 6.17.11 @ 10:27PM

Do you know of a liberal/"progressive" Dem who ISN'T an arrogant POS? Enlighten us please, because I for one don't.

Bruce| 6.17.11 @ 10:30PM

Then there is the fact that Weiner still has not officially "resigned" - his resignation, as it were, not having been delivered to the House to be read on the floor - this making it official. Just watch - he will forget this little tidbit of a requirement; go on with his "treatments" for a few months; then go back to the House claiming he was only really on leave because he had not really "resigned" officially. And he will get away with it like liberals with MSM support always do.

ToddBeaucoudray| 6.17.11 @ 11:30PM

"To the Dems, ethics are always situational."

If that doesn't speak of the Republicans damning Weiner while tolerating Ensign and Vitter, then this is merely partisan politics.

Either behavior is bad for people in both parties or it isn't. This shouldn't be about whose side one claims to be on.

If someone raped you, would you really care if he was registered a Democrat or a Republican? Of course not!

John Navratil| 6.18.11 @ 9:54AM

ToddBeaucoudray,

You forget Bob Packwood, Larry Craig, Chris Lee, and Mark Foley. And what do they have in common? With the exception of Vitter, they are all gone! No three-weeks of preening and lying.

At least in Vitter's case the sex was consensual as it usually is when you pay for it.

If Weiner had been busted for prostitution and had come clean he'd still be there, but tweeting unsolicited pictures of your genitals moves beyond moral turpitude into predation.

If Spitzer's hadn't spent his entire career capitalizing on fighting the behaviour he was indulging in, he'd still be governor. Situational ethics? I think so!

Anthony| 6.17.11 @ 8:42AM

The Anthony's Weiner scandal speaks to a much larger pathology in America. When the Clintons are "disgusted", you know you have a real slime ball on your hands. Who knew Bill Clinton could be outdone?
Seriously, this POS was/is a classic leftist D. He lied with the ease of his mentors, Bill Clinton and Chuck Schumer.
He attempted to lay blame on Breitbart and slandered this man with completely false accusations.
Weiner attempted several diversion tactics before it all came crashing down.
In essense, Weiner is a leftist sociopath, like Bill Clinton. His hubris and arrogance, rooted in his leftist "progressiveism" granted him the license to behave like a character out of a Dostoevski novel.
The bigger problem for America is that for decades we have elected these know nothing, do nothing, political elites to high office. Washington is full of Anthony's Weiners, oh, not with the sex scandal so much, but full of blind, arrogant, and stupid individuals, with little or no practical experience, who are leading America over the cliff.
Weiner was a Chuck Schumer in the making, however, his successor will not be any better.
We need to rid Washington of this entire elitist political class, or America is finished.
2012 is our last chance to save America.

Teaghan| 6.17.11 @ 1:10PM

Not only is Weiner unattractive, he's a mean, nasty and arrogant man and that was what made his resignation so delicious. Though, to have had him stay in the house and be a constant reminder of the filth that is in the democrat party would have been tasty and helpful next year in ridding our White House of it's current occupant.

JP| 6.17.11 @ 8:56AM

There was much more going on than the AW scandal. New York lost population, and the 2010 Census will diktate the new congressional districts. AW sloved a problem in the making. His district in Queens and Brooklin is a safe Dem district; however, it still has a majority of ethnic Italians and Jews. The other districts have a high proportion of blacks, latinos, and other minorities. When the new districts are gerrymandered some group will lose out. And until last month there was no way AW would allow his district to be redrawn. That meant that some NY Dem would be out of a job. AW's scandal forestalled that problem. You can kiss his district good-bye.

Anthony| 6.17.11 @ 11:03AM

Allen, I think not. You've read Hillary all wrong. Hillary stood by the Sociopath-in Chief, both prior to his presidency, and post presidency, because she saw a "winner" in this POS, and was right. He made it to the W.H. Still today,Clinton still has things to offer her.

Take a good look America..... these are the narcissistic, elitist ideologues that has infested our government and culture. The blame is still ultimately at the feet of the general public. Poll's say New Yorkers would still put this "weiner-head" back in office ? Really ? Your apathy and broken moral compass will one day, enslave you. Your epiphany will come at the hand of $7/gal gas, 6 months to see a general M.D., and Banana Republic currency ? Thats what you are voting for, when you elect dick-heads like this. I for one, will not be the "Anthony Weiner's of Congress's" little bitch. Please excuse my crude vocabulary..... its just a little infuriating and heart breaking where are country is headed.

Well, it is New York. Leading the nation in abortions, and coming in dead last in the freedom rankings.

He suits them rather well, no?

alice moore| 6.17.11 @ 7:24PM

They probably rank in there with North Korea. The North Koreans can be forgiven because their state is imposed with a literal gun to their heads. NY state an CA are voting themselves North Korea and East Germany.

I do not understand why criminal charges have not been filed against the Wiener. If you drop your pants in public in front of a stranger, you will be charged here in Pa with Indecent Exposure, Disorderly Conduct, Harassment, and whatever else a creative police officer decides. We used to laugh and joke about the pervert with the raincoat. The Wiener did exactly the same in cyberspace, exposing himself to persons who did not consent prior to the exposure. If any private citizen did this, i guarantee you will be charged, but we have different standards for the ruling class of democrats.

Kids do it via cell phone all the time W. I don't think it's illegal. Tawdry perhaps, but as the pinhead said, Not illegal.

ToddBeaucoudray| 6.17.11 @ 11:37PM

Your rationalization is so mired by hatred, you cannot see the nuance. Sexting is not a crime and how do you know if this person didn't welcome the photo?

W| 6.18.11 @ 11:20AM

Hey tod, i dont see the nuance and dont want to see The Wiener, maybe you do

Occam's Tool| 6.19.11 @ 3:20AM

Because her statement said she didn't and she destroyed his political career with it?

Pretty convincing evidence.

Wiener, Clintons, Kennedy, what I find disappointing and evidence of delusion on their part is the unbelievable lack of shame, the lack of dignity. Say what you want about President Nixon: even without the phlebitis he closed out his public life and retired. These wretches seem to have an almost Luciferian transfixion on power. Wiener is one of those sad lonely little losers who seek office to define an empty suit.

As disgusting as Anthony Weiner himself is, there's a story behind the Weinergate story that is far more important, and far worse. No, it isn't about tweeting genitalia; yes, it is partly about sex, but it's mostly about national security.

Anthony Weiner's wife, Huma Abedin, has long been Hillary Clinton's personal assistant, and reportedly also her lesbian lover. Now it turns out that Huma's mother, Saleha Abedin, is connected with the Muslim Brotherhood.

In other words, we have a Muslim Brotherhood mole in the office, and apparently also the bedroom, of the Secretary of State.

No, I'm Jewish, and rather hyperbolically politically so, as Clint and Red could tell you. Tony is a disgrace to his people most of all.

I suggest that the Weiner episode is excellent evidence in support of the proposition that Satan is active in America today. As national and international catastrophes loom ever larger and closer, all attention is focused on Anthony' weiner. Old Nick and all his minions are just laughing themselves silly.

Oldefarte| 6.18.11 @ 1:50PM

I'm really amused at the BS concerning the ClintonS being 'disgusted' and 'livid' at him, since Bill is the personification of DISGUSTING, but that's another story. In fact [no doubt] it was most probably Hillary who, as motherly-protector of her protege-assistant, was solely 'disgusted' and 'livid'. Bill would typically slap him on the back, give him a wink and congratulate him for his Kennedyisk manner. The very very sad part of all of this is that for a grown-adult man [as opposed to some teenaged, snotfaced moron that typically performs such juveniled antics] to act thus shows a extreme latent psychological flaw that is in serious need of theraphy and/or clinical confinement!!!!!!

Democrats have memories as long as a nanosecond. Unfortunately, many Americans have memories even shorter.

Interesting story in the NY Post online today. Weenie and Huma were spied shopping in a supermarket on their way to the Hamptons. The former Pelosi attack dog was heard to be tra-la-la-ing some tune or another, while Huma casually pulled items from the shelf (no cast iron frying pan in sight). Not a care in the world, apparently, for either of them. Such is the fantasy world of Democratic National politics and the people who inhabit or hang in them.

On another front, Obama thinks Weiner will "bounce back." Should we be surprised by this gauche statement?

Also, Weiner is reported to have a "five million dollar campaign war chest." If Spitzer can pretend legitimacy on a cable news network, Weiner can outdo him, possibly in the pages of the NYT. That's my bet and I'm sticking to it. And wouldn't Weiner make a nice complement to, say, Paul Krugman?

Three weeks ago, Anthony Weiner was a rising star in the Democratic Party, an influential spokesman for the progressive movement and, quite possibly, the next mayor of New York City.

1389AD | 6.24.11 @ 12:08PM

I have a different explanation for why the Clintons wanted Weiner gone.

The scandal was drawing too much attention to Huma Weiner, who has been Hillary's 'body woman' and reportedly her lesbian lover since 1996, and more to the point, to Saleha Abedin, Huma's mother, who is affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood.

The long and the short of it is that there is a Muslim Brotherhood mole in the office AND the bedroom of the Secretary of State.

This is treason.
