With Arnold Schwarzenegger’s confession that he fathered an
illegitimate child 10 years ago with the family housekeeper,
Republicans appear to have pulled ahead of Democrats, temporarily,
in the randy politicians’ race for oblivion.
Just a few days earlier, Dominique Strauss-Kahn, Socialist
head of the International Monetary Fund, dominated the front pages
with his arrest on charges of attempted rape of a hotel maid in New
York City. Strauss-Kahn was nabbed only hours after new revelations
about former Nevada GOP senator John Ensign’s affair with his best
friend’s (and top aide’s) wife. Carson City insiders say that
Ensign was inspired by a similar case in adjacent California when
San Francisco Democratic mayoral candidate Gavin Newsom revealed an
affair with his campaign manager’s wife; Newsom won
handily.
Other pundits trace Ensign’s decision to out-do John
Edwards’s notorious affair with a campaign videographer while his
late wife was undergoing cancer treatment, a new record in
sleaziness that impressed even jaded students of skirt-chasing
politicians.
“After Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky’s blue dress, I
figured we had reached an all-time mark in spousal betrayal, but
Edwards lowered the bar to a new level,” said a longtime
philandering expert who has studied the downfalls of powerful
politicians since Wilbur Mills was caught with stripper Fanne Fox
in Washington, D.C.’s Tidal Basin.
Clearly it’s a tight race as to which major party harbors
the scummiest sexual predators. Presidential candidate Newt
Gingrich, no slouch himself in the lothario contest, has given
renewed hope to Republicans’ chances for the title of Horniest
Political Party.
Democrats, worried about Obama’s untainted past, are said
to be holding talks with Tiger Woods to give up golf and run for
high office because of his unbeatable credentials as a world-class
satyr. Should Woods decide to stay in golf, New York Democrats may
look to onetime hooker aficionado/governor Eliot Spitzer, whose CNN
show is in trouble, to run for New York governor again.
“People are willing to forgive his shameful TV career and
give him a second chance,” says an Albany insider. “A lot of
politicians run afoul of TV talk shows, but voters still remember
Eliot fondly and admire his tough, macho, indeed ballsy
governorship, brief though it was.” Spitzer successor David
Paterson’s own admission of cheating soon after he took office was
deemed pretty weak stuff compared to Spitzer’s crummy
behavior.
Rumors are circulating that one reason social conservative
Mike Huckabee decided not to run for the Presidency is that he
lacked sufficient libido — or “the fire in the groin,” as we say.
Likewise, Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels is said to be hesitant to
run for the White House because he’s afraid it will be revealed he
lacks a whisper of womanizing in his history. GOP strategists are
digging into Daniels’s past in the hope of uncovering a mistress or
two willing to talk to the tabloids, or at least a few minor
groping reports.
Donald Trump, with three wives and untold former
mistresses in his war chest, looked like a tough up-and-coming GOP
candidate in the sexual addiction sweepstakes, but he dropped out
of the race for unclear reasons — some say because his marriage is
not yet on the rocks, dooming his chances for office. Trump critics
in the Democratic Party busily spread word that the mogul, despite
his cowboy persona, has been behaving himself.
Political insiders in France speculate that Strauss-Kahn
got caught with his pants down, if not off, in a desperate effort
to surpass his presumed opponent in the next election for French
president, Nicolas Sarkozy — one of the Continent’s most highly
respected playboy heads of state, second only to Italy’s Silvio
Berlusconi, still the ranking Euroletch.
Devotees of political sex scandals say that we may be
entering a new Golden Age, but many recall with wistful nostalgia
the glory days of Gary Hart and Donna Rice, not to mention the more
recent titillating scandals of Congressmen Larry Craig, Gary
Condit, and Mark Foley, as well as New Jersey governor James
McGreevey, who suddenly realized he was gay when he cheated on his
wife with his homeland security advisor.
“Those were pretty good political scandals,” concedes
political testosterone scholar Morris W. Gravlax. “But it’s pretty
hard to top FDR and Grover Cleveland’s extra-marital affairs. Of
course, I doubt if anybody will ever surpass Thomas Jefferson’s
groundbreaking dalliance with his slave Sally Hemmings.” As Gravlax
notes, “Tom was a true sexual originalist, a man to be admired by
politicians on both sides of the aisle.”

The world is full of men who cannot keep their pants on, and women who are surprised to find out that everything those men told them was a lie.
It has always been thus, and it is boring. Could we find a few men who can concentrate on something besides their wee-wees? Are there any such men?
Bill Hussein O'Stalin| 5.19.11 @ 8:25AM
If the women are willing then it is not just men who are the problem.
The essence of thought like yours is that women are dopes and are not capable of making adult choices, so only the men are to blame.
Teaghan| 5.19.11 @ 10:29AM
Ouch Bill! Geeze!!!!
beebop| 5.20.11 @ 5:36AM
This woman doesn't give a rat's ass about either of them, to be blunt. The law will deal with one and perhaps women every where will FINALLY get the message that if he cheats on one woman, he'll get around to cheating on YOU. Or they might think about respecting other members of their own sex more. Either one. I'm not picky.
What I am TIRED of is this sideshow that keeps the real news off the pages of the remnants of the press and on the lips of the dwindling number of journalists. What the hell does any SITTING politician care about the exploits of their fallen brethren? NOT ONE moment is wasted! So. Let the courts, karma and the hereafter take care of the lot of them and let us focus on what it is we can CHANGE in the public arean -- like (p)residents!
Appleby| 5.19.11 @ 11:55AM
I have sufficient age and experience to sincerely believe that most modern women are dopes when it comes to believing that although the last sixteen times they heard that line, it was a lie, this particular man (whose last name they do not know) actually means what he says.
I also have enough men friends so that I believe the general opinion among the line-slingint kind of men is that all women they can grab "wanted it".
I blame their mothers for not teaching the boys to keep their hands off girls to whom they are not married, and not teaching the girls that if his last four wives didn't understand him, odds are pretty good that the truth is they DID understand him and that's why they are all ex-wives...and that if you accompany a man you met a few minutes ago whose last name you do not know anywhere at all without an escort, nothing good will come of it.

Yep -- one to commit the rape, and one to be raped. Or are you saying that there is no such thing as rape?
Bill Hussein O'Stalin| 5.19.11 @ 1:20PM
Appleby: You are marginalizing women because in essence you are claiming they are too stupid to be let out into public without mental chaperones. If any concept is outdated it's that.
In fact, here are some women protesting exactly what you are implying. Welcome to slut walk:
http://bostonslutwalk2k11.tumblr.com/
Margie| 5.19.11 @ 2:12PM
Forget it, Hussein, Appleby's right. And she gave equal time to both men & women.
If a man is willing to use a woman and a woman is willing to be used was her subject. And it is the truth.
This is the way of the world.
It isn't the way of the Christian though~ having a relationship with Christ causes one to put things in their proper perspective, and empowers men and women to choose and behave wisely.
Why do you think God says that apart from Him Man are but beasts? We're all sin-a-holic apart from Christ, most men are out for one thing and the women that allow themselves to be used are silly and desperate.
There is no excuse for rape, no matter what or how the woman ended up with the beast.
Bill Hussein O'Stalin| 5.19.11 @ 3:11PM
To: Margie
There's nothing to forget. Only something to clarify. I'm really surprised to hear that point of view from women.
Essentially, you're claim is that women are dopes and can not be trusted to make wise choices.
That would also indicate they are incapable of making financial decisions which are more complicated and if you buy into your sentiments then they should not be allowed to make those decisions.
Your comments are a total refutation of women suffrage and if you really believe them you should be petitioning the U.S. government to end affirmative action and Title IV now for the only goal of equality at that point would be to protect dopes and protection of species more properly comes under the EPA not the Justice Department.
Margie| 5.19.11 @ 3:14PM
You twisted what I said~ but I'm not surprised.
Yuck.
Occam's Tool| 5.19.11 @ 6:24PM
Dear Bill:
I'm not hearing that at all. What happened to this woman (assuming charges are true) is that she was raped. That is simply horrible, if true, and will be decided in court.
That's separate from the argument that is being made here, which is that many women are idiots regarding men and what their desires are. The opposite is also true, but it is more important when women are screwed up, as they are the important ones.
For a profound demonstration of this problem that is, at worst, PG rated but that you will nonetheless never forget, go to Jerry's Deli on Ventura Boulevard in Studio City, CA any Friday around Midnight (great Matzo-ball soup and fantastic Corned beef sandwiches---add a Dr Brown Black Cherry and you have the makings of a great place to read and eat).
In between girlfriends, I would go alone and watch the women come in. This being LA, they were drop dead gorgeous. This being LA, the men they were with were, for the most part, trogs. You wondered what the selection mechanism was. And it obviously wasn't money.
Between that and learning to do psychotherapy with my women patients, I received a background in "what do women want" that served me well. And it is simply this: women can make screwed up mating decisions just like men can. Possibly even more often, since women are the superior sex in terms of caregiving, and thus believe that they can forgive more and still live passably. Improper selection on the part of the woman can lead to catastrophic outcomes for the woman's happiness, and, much more important, for the wellbeing of her children.
Knowing this, women need to be careful with men. And that leads me to point two: marriage and the proper relation between sexes in relationships
is important and is being short shrifted by our elites, both left and right, including Ben. Gay marriages, acceptance of infidelity, allowing elites to "get away" with things because they are "special" as opposed to holding them to a very high standard (yeah, I'm talking to you, Bill Clinton)---all of these things are very, very bad for marriages, and much more important, for children.
Margie and Appleby are correct: in their natural state, men want one thing and think that way. Marriage allows men to take part of that energy that would be used "playing the field" and put it into building a career that supports a family and supports the raising of children and the continuation of the species. It is a profoundly good thing, and not to be trifled with by ethical morons, both Left and Right.
That mechanism is called sublimation, and it is one of Society's great maintenance devices. But women are not being taught their role in sublimation much, anymore, and men are confused in their approach due to changing mores and lack of understanding of the importance of this psychological drive. (This has NOTHING to do with women voting, or learning, or career building. It has everything to do with raising and maintaining children, without whom the human race is over in 30 years.) The result is the destruction of marriage, the increase in childhood psychopathology, and the subsequent decline in civilized standards.
That is what Appleby and Margie are getting at, and more power to them.
As an aside, it really annoys me when people take cheap shots at Margie, as she is ethically very sound and logically consistent, even when I disagree with her. Christianity's preservation is going to save Western Civilization, as its loss is going to dissolve same. We are fighting Political Islam and Sharia, and secularism will not cut it to fight it, and will dissolve the will to fight, as well. Sharia results in degradation of women and increased violence within families. The solution that will win is to support the faith that created Western Civilization (yes, I'm Jewish, but I support Margie), so as to support the creation and maintenance of strong decent families, so as to combat the twin evils of The Liberal Culture of Death on the one side, and the evils of Sharia and violence on the other, thus continuing to keep a truly Liberal (in the Lockean sense) Civilization. Margie intuitively understands this much, much better than those who mock her.
So, to summarize, it all starts with how a society views the correct outcome for relationships between men and women. We have lost our way. Neither a brute (sharia) nor a hedonist (secular humanism) be.
Thank you, Margie and Appleby. G-d Bless.

By the way, my wife is a Summa Cum Laude grad of U of Alabama in Accounting, homeschooling our two kids. That's her choice. She can homeschool because she married a man who can provide for the family so she can do that. She could have married a Liberal scumtard, I guess.

"most men are out for one thing "
Wow!! Judge others much? Yes, men like sex (and so do most women). But that does not mean that is all most are looking for. My guess is you were burned before and all men since then have had to suffer the consequences. Sorry, hope you find whatever your looking for.
Margie| 5.19.11 @ 3:33PM
DS,
Nope. Happily married to a Christian man, and I truly love and appreciate men who are decent.
I'm simply stating the Biblical truth that apart from Christ and God~ we are all sin-a-holics and it is simply a fact that sex is the number one most important thing to a man, and the number one motivation. Can you honestly deny this?
When a man comes into a relationship with His God~ the rules and priorities and motivations change, it becomes God first, then a right relationship with the opposite sex.
God changes us from the inside out~ and we become confirmed to His likeness~ and He enables us to live as He originally intended us to live. Which is living to give Him glory~the whole purpose of Man.
When anyone is regenerated from above by His Spirit (Jn. 3:3) we begin to want to please Him first. Rather than pleasing ourselves and our desires first, we want to please Him~ and because of Him and putting Him first, our relationships become right.
No bitterness here, I have no need of it. Just speaking the Biblical truth, sir.
Margie| 5.19.11 @ 3:34PM
Oops~ should be conformed to His likeness, not confirmed.
Drunken Sailor| 5.19.11 @ 3:41PM
In that case, good to hear it and I agree with 99% of what you said. I just don't buy the whole "All men are interested in is sex" argument. Never have, never will. Yes, there are some adolescents that never grow up but some of us move past that.
Margie| 5.19.11 @ 3:52PM
DS~
Thanks. Just referring to the issue of Sin, and the Biblical truth of it. We're all sin-a-holics and we know it!
The Bible says it~ that apart from Him Man are but beasts. And women have insane brains and make awful choices.. and are like Eve.
The world is evidence of that.
God makes us right with Him again, if and when we ask Him to do so.
Thanks for your comment.

Unbelievable this intolerant, Bible-thumper dame called Margie. Yesterday she tells Cal in response to his opinion that most people are thinking that Maria Shriver left Arnie once his politial career was over, and I quote, " Oh, excuse me Mr. all-knowing. MOST people are thinking this? I do not presume to know what MOST people are thinking" yet today Margie says "most men are out for one thing". Hey, hypocrite, why do you think it's okay for YOU to make a claim about "most men" yet deny Cal for doing the same? Don't you think that's CATTY? And don't give some damn notion about knowing the Truth. Just like in yesterday's blog, you want to totally side with and support a woman because you are a woman, no matter the facts or circumstances of a situation. You are no different then the blacks who voted for Obama just because he was black.
Margie| 5.19.11 @ 3:47PM
JD
You are even more twisted today than you were yesterday, and just as much the liar.
jd| 5.19.11 @ 3:56PM
Didn't you say yesterday that you don't presume to know what all men are thinking? Yet today you make a blanket statement that all men are out for one thing? Two totally contradictory statements. Looks to me like you were either lying today or yesterday, so which is it? Seems to me that when you are confronted with something, you cannot respond other then to call someone twisted or lying. Seems to me you are the liar here, Ms. Truth-Know-It-All. Pathetic.
Margie| 5.19.11 @ 4:11PM
jd,
I don't think this is going to matter to you for me to try and unravel your twisted accusations toward me, because in truth you just plain despise me~ but ok, I'll go ahead and for the sake of truth explain what you are doing here.
Yesterday when I said I didn't presume to know what everyone was thinking it was with regard to Cal Mar's saying that "everyone is thinking thusly.." concerning the Ah-noold & Maria issue.
I responded that I do not presume to know what he presumes to supposedly know~ that is, that "Everyone is thinking thus.."
That's right, jd, I do not know that EVERYONE is thinking such and such.
With regard to the issue of Sin according to the Bible~ it is written that apart from God Man is but a beast. And THAT is what I was speaking about here.
In saying that I did not agree with Cal's presumption that he knew what everyone was thinking about Ah-noold & Maria, and why she is leaving him, her motivations for it, et al~ is in no way contradictory to the subject of Sin and what God says about it.
Nice try, but major fail.
Now you may continue with the hatered, name calling and vitriol that you accuse ME of doing.
Hypocrite!
Occam's Tool| 5.19.11 @ 10:19PM
Margie---you should check out Debbie Schlussel's site. I think you would like her a good deal, and the posters would be less annoying. Although, in truth, there are only a few annoying folks.
jd| 5.20.11 @ 6:34AM
Ah, the psychotherapist telling the patient to run out of the kitchen when it gets too hot. Don't worry, regardless of Margie's questioning of why she posts here, she won't be going anywhere.
Let me just say that my initial tiff with Margie started because she did not like that I generalized about the 60's generation. The other day she didn't like Cal generalizing about assuming what caused the Schwarzenegger separation, yet she generalizes all the time. That's the point sir. I have no disagreement with the importance of a traditional, nuclear family valuing marriage and the importance of chidren as a gatekeeper to keeping Western Civilization intact. I just think that if you believe Margie's tactics and beliefs will save us,them we are already doomed. You mention how important Christianity is to the founding of Western Civilization but in all honesty it was because of Catholicism, something which Margie will never acknowledge, hence my major beef with her. I have no disagreement with the fact that Islamic radicalization, Sharia Law and jihadism are the true enemies here, but no matter how annoying you think her critics are, or how consistent and logical you feel she is, she has history of stating contradictory things. The only consistency is her attacking everybody who does not believe in her brand of Christianity.

Margie| 5.19.11 @ 3:40PM
You're not making any sense, DS.
My point is that it is still taking advantge by Ah-noold.
I suppose you didn't think Bill Clinton took advantage of Monica Lewinsky either, even though she also consented.
It is still despicable and he still took advantage of a young employee.
Monica was responsible for her behaviour as well, but Clintoon took advantage of her as a way and is much more responsible being much older and the President of the United States.
Drunken Sailor| 5.19.11 @ 4:03PM
Just disagee with the "take advantage" part. Taking advantage of someone implies you are capitalizing on them to your advantage. Or that you are making excessive use of. I believe both Monica Lewinski and Arnolds lover were complicit in these affairs. To take advantage implies they were not. They knew full well what they were doing and were ok with it. I do not believe either was niave enough not to understand the possible consequences. They were not innocent in this.
Margie| 5.19.11 @ 4:15PM
The older man is much more responsible in God's eyes.
Just a Ah-noold is much more responsible for his behaviour for using his employee.

Spitzer built a career on prosecuting men for using prostitutes and then got caught himself. Raping a hotel maid certainly is not just "naughy" behavior. And Bill Clinton didn't just "cheat" on his wife. He lied in court and on camera and then acted like we had wronged him for catching him with his hand in the cookie jar.
One of the worst examples of this is the treatment of Larry Craig and the left gleefully proclaiming he was caught in a "sex scandal." The left would argue that it was a witch hunt to arrest a man for merely reaching for paper under the floor and making "signals" if it was one of their own hauled away.
Melvin| 5.19.11 @ 10:47AM
It is not so much the satisfaction of the male member that is the issue here. It is about commitment, and trust by both sexes.
I can only speak for myself, and opinion others.
When I was a younger single man, I was a horndog, not so much as a player, just a horndog. I had but one thing on my mind, and that was WOMAN. My God I didn't realize women were so much fun.
Then my whole outlook on the female form changed with one raven haired beauty, that literally caused me to trip over my own feet. I couldn't think straight, after 29 years she'll still tells me I can't think straight.
Now I can speak for millions of men and many who post here on American Spectator, when we married, "Our girls," it was forever.
For one, I am a extremely terrible liar, and have a conscience from hell. I just couldn't look into my wife's eyes and tell her I bedded the house keeper.
Infidelity is the cruelest form of punishment that one spouse can do to the other. I cannot even begin to fathom the range of emotions that can destroy a man or woman.
The greatest gift that a man or woman can give to each other is the gift of trust.
What causes men or women of power and influence to be unfaithful to their spouses? This is a question that has plagued relationships since time immortal.
To simply put it, I think the reason men and women of power are unfaithful to each other is, they think of themselves more bigger than being just a man or just a woman.
Sometimes husbands and wives of power and wealth get so enamored with themselves and their own self-gratifications, they forget the simplest forms of happiness.
People always ask my wife and I how we are able to be married close to 30 years. The one thing that my wife and I completely agree on, is faith in each other.
There has been times that my wife wanted to literally throttle me and I her, but we never lost the faith and commitment in each other.
To me, my wife is pure gold, there is nothing on this God's green earth that is worth more than her love. It is not replaceable nor is it negotiable, and it is forever.
I didn't want this to become a sermon, but I felt that I must stand up in defense of those men out there who are made out of the same metal as me in regards to marriage and commitment.
We men who love our wives and families are sometimes shoved into the background because we lead boring, uninteresting lives, unlike Aaaaanold, and Strauss-Kahn who are men of power, influence, and wealth, who had the world in their very palms.
As of today, I bet a nice shiny dime, they would trade all their money, wealth, and power for what I and many husbands have at home. For why would we want to hold the earth in our palms, when we can go home and hold the universe in our arms.

Mel, that was as good as it gets - heck, I coulda written that myself about my own blessed spouse of some 25+ years. I especially loved the part about being a terrible liar with a conscience from hell - I feel the same way, I could never pull it off…not that I wish to try, but I would never do anything to hurt my wife (and son) in that way. It is interesting (and depressing) to see how Arnold's kids are responding, though I don't blame them a bit for feeling betrayed by their old man. Ultimately, we males are weak and easily tempted - it is woman who civilizes us and I'm just glad I found one who could put up with me.
Nancy in NC| 5.19.11 @ 2:29PM
Mel...that was lovely. You and your wife are very lucky.
I only see things getting worse in the future. Present TV shows and entertainment protrays honesty and integrity as rather nerdy. Sleaziness is quite the rage these days.
Thank God I'm old.
PolishKnight| 5.23.11 @ 10:51AM
That's just it: You're a terrible liar and therefore probably don't understand those who are.
People of power and considerable charm also tend to become fantastic liars. The film "The invention of lying" is a great allegory for how their minds work. They don't view what they're doing as wrong, they think they're being clever. That they invented a different way to get what they want. People who are lousy liars tend to trip themselves because they think they're doing something WRONG. If you look at lying as merely just stating something in a different way to get what you want, then it's easy.

One of the saddest things about the Schwartzenegger affair is that the sensation seems to be driven less by the (consenting) affair than by the fact that he fathered a child.
Appleby| 5.19.11 @ 11:58AM
So who do you "blame" for that?
Margie| 5.19.11 @ 2:21PM
Right. The Sin caused both.
God tells us that Adultery destroys the persons who commit the act. It also destroys other people's lives.
Again, apart from Christ, this is the way of the world.
"He who commits adultery has no sense; he who does it destroys himself.: Prov. 6:32.

I never understood the appeal of Arnold S. - he looks freakish to me and would have faded away if he had not married into the kennedy clan. There have been reports about him groping women for years...yet, his wife stayed with him. Wonder what will happen now to this aging, bulging man???

Recently, the L. A. Times set aside column space in both online and print editions where movie stars, politicians, rich athletes and trust fund babies can confess their sins and beg public forgiveness. “Celebrity Confessions” has proven popular with Times’ readers, except for Catholic priests losing some traditional business and who quietly maintain that celebrities contribute far more money to the Church than illegal immigrants do. So, except for when Mel Gibson went on and on for three weeks about how much he likes and respects Jews, the Times realizes it has a winner on its hands with “Celebrity Confessions”. So why did the Times run a gentle and somewhat civil editorial condemnation of Arnold Schwarz……r the other day concerning his child fathered out of wedlock and various other related sins? The Times is very proud of its long term journalistic bias toward Democrats and loves Liberals, although not just in the purely biblical sense every single time – so why this respectful treatment of former Republican Gov. Ah-nold? Andrea Peyser, writing for the New York Post, went slightly hysterical spinster on the nation and accused Arnold of everything from porcine rape to highway mopery – so why didn’t the Times follow suit?
Well, besides the fact Arnold gave the Times’ owner a small eunuch part in one of his Conan movies, the Times has recently become very concerned with California’s national image – we’re serious people out here the Times believes – no really, we are – and the Times would like us Californians portrayed, for the most part, as normal, salt of the earth type folks. First of all, the Times would prefer you other Americans understand that Californians represent every racial group, every state, every country and every common sexual perversion. Except for our state’s 3 million anchor babies, most Californians over the age of 5 were born somewhere else, maybe even in your home city.
Each week, hundreds of beautiful young women migrate to California and, depending on the quality of their implants, some will become successful actresses, not always Meryl Streep successful, but an enormous split level home in one of L. A.’s exclusive canyons successful. And, each week, hundreds of handsome young men, some of whom are known heterosexuals, show up here hoping for a successful screen test – like definitely tomorrow, dude.
So, California must import the bulk of its perverts from other states – they come here pre-flawed, we didn’t make them that way – even Ah-nold originates from some godawful third world country, it might be called Austria. So, Mr. Joe Plumber in Moline Kansas, you should remember that the Hollywood celebrity who is currently boffing his neighbor’s wife is just like that guy down the street with the nice lawn and the hyperactive kid who is also boffing his neighbor’s wife. Yeah really, the only difference between Mr. Hollywood and that guy you wave to every morning on the way to work is one guy is famous and the other is not - although the famous one probably owns more gold chains, while your neighbor has a much higher bowling average – but, those differences aside, the same things go on everywhere – and, does our nation doesn’t really care what guys in Moline confess to?
Petronius| 5.19.11 @ 12:58PM
Hollywood will take him back when he campaigns for Obama next year as his venial sin was banging somebody lower than himself on the food chain. She was just sleeping with his name anyway. His next film will be a sequel: The Gov's Speech costarring Geoffrey Rush, who will fix his awful accent so we can stand to watch him again. Panae et circusum as usual.

Man due I feel cheated.
In my three years of High School German language classes 30 years ago I never learned that "Schwarzenegger" was the German word for "Kennedy."
Pete| 5.19.11 @ 1:13PM
"Obama's untainted past" - I wouldn't be so sure. I'd wager he just covers it up better on penalty of Chicago style retribution. It may take a while, perhaps long after he has moved on to some sham "world" organization, but details will emerge of improprieties. He would join a long line of prominent black leaders who could not pass up the spoils of power. What's the point of attaining a position of power if you don't get anything extra for it, after all? Do you see ANY elements of "public service" in the way he conducts himself?
DAM| 5.19.11 @ 2:15PM
Well there were those rumors about the trysts with other male members of Wright's Chicago church....unfortunately those other members all seem to have died before the 2008 election, so the rumors will have to stay just that I guess.

Good article. However, Jefferson sex scandal was proven a lie and therefore should be removed when good journalist are talking. That would exclude Matthews and Rather.
Margie| 5.19.11 @ 2:23PM
Yeah, I noticed how the author used this issue to take a despicable shot at Jefferson.
Must be a Liberal.
Groad| 5.19.11 @ 3:52PM
What is not mentioned is Sally Hemmings was Jefferson's deceased wife's half sister and could easily pass for white. During the alleged 'dalliance' Jefferson was a widower and had sworn to his wife he would never remarry. Whether he was actually involved with her is up to speculation, but he did have an interest in her welfare as she was his sister-in law. I doubt he considered her a slave.
Margie| 5.19.11 @ 4:18PM
Groad,
I've read about that, too. I've also read that he loved her, but it is all speculation.
I saw years ago a woman on C-span that came on and claimed she was related to Jefferson through this relationship.
Who knows? God will be the Judge, but I do not ascribe to the hatred and vitriol by the Left of this good man.
RCV| 5.19.11 @ 7:24PM
From all I've read of the relationship, it was one in which each of them treated the other with love and respect. And Jefferson is a favorite of almost all liberals I know. There are few greater men in our nation's history.
somnolence| 5.19.11 @ 2:15PM
There is already testimony from a "gentleman" on youtube that Obama is far from "an untainted past."
Anommynous| 5.19.11 @ 2:51PM
I'm no fan of Obama's, but I've never seen anything to convince me that he's anything other than a good family man, and it's going to take more than hearsay and attention-seeking allegations to dissuade me of that belief.
There's plenty to go after Obama on the basis of his record and the issues.
Pete| 5.19.11 @ 4:41PM
Except that his entire existence is a lie and he always does the exact opposite of what he says. You position is the same as believing Barry Bonds didn't do steroids....
RCV| 5.19.11 @ 7:27PM
There is absolutely no reason to suspect that the Obama family is anything but a happy, in tact family. The so-called "testimony" is a joke from start to finish. Give the man credit where it's due.
Occam's Tool| 5.19.11 @ 9:59PM
Correct, RCV. I couldn't care less about his relationship with his wife, which appears in a range of normal.
What Obama lusts after is power. Not money, not poon. Guys who lust after one thing in a focused way are going to kick the crap out of guys who split their desires. case in point: the first Mayor daley versus Alderman Keene.

The article was pretty stupid. Adultery is a serious thing. If the candidate's wife can't trust the guy then the American people shouldn't either. Republican voters care if their candidates cheat on their wives. Democratic voters don't care at all. Clinton was accused of raping Juanita Broderick and nobody cared on the democratic side.

Among men there are 2 major types...those who know and can; and those who wish and can't.
Sure, there are many in the middle and the wild card is the attitude of the spouse. Some of whom leave no room for competitors and some leave the door w-i-i-i-ide open.
Sorry, Margie. Those who can and don't have spouses (spice?) who leave no room for competition.
