Chuck Schumer, caught in the act, for once.

Every so often someone asks me my greatest strength as a columnist. But no one needs to ask me my greatest flaw; I wear it on my sleeve. It is that there is one person in government whom I despise so utterly that mere mention of his name makes me spew all over the page. My poor reasonable readers all scurry for cover in fear of getting acid burns from my invective.

By the same token, he is the reason I felt compelled to enter this field. By a weird quirk of fate, I was present as a sixteen-year-old boy at a local meeting of well-meaning Jews who were gulled into making him State Senator for the neighborhood where I grew up, in Brooklyn, New York. The same boobs later bought his malarkey and promoted him to the United State Congress. I saw the sleaziness, the deception, the insincerity, the manipulation — and to cap it off, the absolute disdain for the people whose vote he sought.

Now he is ensconced in the United States Senate, beyond the reach of the naïve Orthodox Jews of Brooklyn and Queens to call back the monster they created. He learned early that these people who strive for morality and integrity in their lives are gullible about things taking place in faraway Washington, D.C. So he learned to attend every synagogue dinner and every major bar-mitzvah and wedding. He had a driver zipping him back and forth on Saturday nights from event to event, shaking hands and mouthing a few words in Yiddish or Hebrew. Burning the midnight snake oil: all style, no substance. 

Then he took their votes, the votes of people being faithful to their families, people who spend their heart-blood on religious education, on protecting their children from base influences, often living without televisions in their homes, imagining themselves to be conducting lives of holiness — and he spent their votes on advocacy for every immoral practice imaginable. If you want to promote some corruption, some indecency, some nastiness, you could always count on the vote of good old Charles Schumer.

After all, he was in the safest seat of all, bestowed upon him by all those sweet ingenuous rabbis. Even when he left, he handed it off to his protégé, Anthony Weiner, who does the identical dog-and-pony show at all the synagogues and then hands his vote to Satan as a tribute.

As you may have guessed from my tirade, Schumer is back in form. He was recorded by reporters instructing a quartet of Democrat Senators how to game the budget debate. For once his finagling is exposed: even a snake cannot wriggle away when it is stuck on the tape. He tells his henchmen to hammer away about the “extreme” cuts by the radical Tea Party Republicans. Tell everyone that Democrats want to negotiate but the Republicans are refusing to be reasonable.

I don’t suppose this is too much creepier than other political machinations, but I can’t help seeing red and black and blue. This man does for Judaism what Harry Reid does for Mormonism: portray it as the province of selfish, grasping, conniving leeches who are willing to bulldoze the moral edifice the Founders built. They do it to advance the cause of a pseudo-progressive remaking of society into a state of moral anarchy.

Please accept my apology. I know I cannot be coherent about this very sore subject. To me he is the Bernie Madoff of moral capital. He got all the Orthodox Jews to invest their moral capital with him and he cleaned them out. My only consolation is that they were sold out but they did not sell out; they got nothing in return. (In fairness, staffers at his neighborhood offices — including my cousin’s cousin — were always solicitous of the needs of constituents and helped wherever possible.)

Until he leaves public office, I will never be fully able to accept the model of government as a force for good. My dream of seeing Jews in Congress associated with probity and integrity, wisdom and prudence, is all focused on one man right now: Eric Cantor. Somehow I believe against all odds that in the long run the Cantor will lead the congregation in a noble direction. Hey, Schumer, is that extreme enough for ya?

The most disheartening thing is that I have always thought that Jews, as God's 'Chosen People' were somehow smarter and wiser than the rest of us. But, after observing American Jews for most of my adult life, I have come to the conclusion that they must be the stupidest. They ALWAYS vote for democrats who hate Isreal and expose that long tern ally to danger after danger. In addition to their stupidity, they 're also suicidal. How could so many of them just walk into the gas chambers when rumors were rampant throughout Germany about the horrors that awaited there? Absolutely incomprehensible. Now they are leading OUR country off the cliff and metaphorically into the death camps. Some people never learn.

Mitch - not ALL American Jews are so blinded by the alleged moral elevation that the liberals claim. The more religious Jews have quietly moved their votes to the right side of the aisle, with the support of the evangelical Christians. They realize - as I did many years ago - that government was NEVER the friend of the Jewish people, and that personal responsibility for doing good was the responsibility of every person as an individual. Government programs are a pale substitute for common decency.

Let's not get too excited over Chuck's recent "oppsy." Face it, folks ... Schumer coulda' been caught in the back seat with a goat and the only thing you'd hear from the CBS Chipmunk and her mainstream minions is -- "(uh) HEY, how 'bout them Red Sox?"

When it comes to exposing "gotcha's" - Chuckie knows full well his "six" will always be covered by Brian, Katie and the taxpayer funded NPR bunch.

The main problem with too many decent, honest, hard-working people is they cannot conceive of the possibility that someone else is not decent, not honest, and not hard-working. Ret Marine hits it by "knowing them from their works." It's OK to trust someone, but that trust has to be earned to be maintained. I tell my kids that I trust them because they haven't given me a reason not to trust them. That's the same message we need to tell politicians, and once they lose that trust, they should be shown the door.

The MSM has done a good job of covering up Schumer's evil.

In June of 2008 Schumer, for the simple pleasure of politically embarrassing President Bush, leaked a letter about a banks financial troubles. The bank was IndyMac and there was an immediate run on the bank, forcing a taxpayer bailout of certain assets and leaving other assets available for purchase by an investment group.

The investment group, led by Los Angeles-based Oaktree Capital Management LP, had been inside the bank looking over its books. The investment group was a major Democratic source of funds.
Within days of Capital Management's review of IndyMac's books, they had decided not to invest, but simply wait for the bank to fail, and it was at this critical point Schumer arose from the pits and released the letter.

Schumer and Oaktree Capital claimed they never communicated about the bank but the group of investors led by Oaktree are big political contributors, predominantly to Democrats. They donated more than $700,000 to Senate Democrats and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee during the four years that Sen. Schumer has chaired the campaign committee.

After the bank failed the taxpayers were on the hook for 10 billion dollars of failed assets. Schumer claimed the leaking of the letters was justified but he received an admonition from the Office of Thrift Supervision requesting he stop engaging in this behavior.

Capital Management never did purchase any assets from IndyMac after they failed because multiple bank failures meant they had many to choose from in their quest for taxpayer financed assets.

The incident highlights the cozy relationship between the Democrats and the banking community but in the end, after the financial community donated over 36 million to Democrats, they got screwed anyway.

The incident also highlights the fact that Congressional slime like Senator Schumer must be dethroned from their royal perches. The final tab to the taxpayers for IndyMac was between 32 billion and 40 billion, a Chrysler bailout.

Bill, you are so right. The 08 incident by Schumer indeed caused a financial calamity which Schumer has not paid a price for.
He and Leahey have caused incalculable harm to America through their leaks of classified and non-classified information to another corrupt institution, the LSM.
The entire Democrat apparatus is corrupt and hard left. They are a cancer on the American body politic.
Mr. Homnick: You try hard in attempting to excuse the NY Jewish community for the actions of Schumer due to ignorance or deception on Schumer's part.
Unfortunately, Schumer has been exposed for the cancer that he is, yet NY continues to vote this man into office. Sorry, Jay, the NY Jewish community is just as culpable as Schumer is, and it appears, they are well pleased with him still.
Until American Jews give up their fanatical devotion to the D party, we will continue to see more Schumers, can you say Dick Blumenthal from CT?

I appreciate this information. I always assumed it was due to Chuck U Schumer just being a big mouth. I wasn't cynical enough to think in terms of campaign contributions and a "bag" of money for that horses ass. When it doubt blame it on the nut job Republicans. Mr. Williams, Ms. Couric, etc. will carry water for him and his ilk as long as needed.

I will agree with you regarding Southern California, south of the central valley and San Francisco in the north. I just got back from a vacation in Amador county. Once you get to the Central Valley and places north, you find people who are hard working and conservative. It would be a shame to lose them to Mexico. Maybe we here in Nevada could annex everything west of Los Angeles and San Francisco. It would surely help diversify our economy in NV.

Jay carefully notes how Schumer courted the Jews for votes, then labels them "gullible" and "innocent" because they believed they were voting for someone who would represent "their" interests - not America's. He then laughably offers Eric Cantor (no, we can't cut the budget, no, the tea party is too extreme, no, we have to work across the aisle, no my ego is just too big for words) as an example of a what a "Jewish" congressman should be. Personally, I vote only for conservatives whom I believe will vote for American interests only.

I don't understand the above comment. Sheila is correct. A person in the US Senate is supposed to have the broad perspective of most Americans well in focus, not be centered on just one group.

Any voter who hears a candidate say, "Well, you take care of me, and I'll take care of you once elected," ought to be smart enough to know that this lying candidate offers the same verbal deceit at each special interest group campaign stop.

As to Cantor? Sadly (but very telling?), Eric Cantor of Virginia is not doing the work of the people these last 12 weeks.

The nation is baffled at his inaction.

She is right to critize him; I certainly do. Our nation is on the brink. Cantor and Boehner have a privotal leadership opportunity -- one won for them by bedrock Americans.

They now seem to be dissing those bedrock Americans.

If Eric Cantor and his US House of Representatives GOP colleagues got their act together, they could make the misdeeds of vile miscreants like Chuckie Slimeball Schumer (and Joe Biden) irrelevant.

This is an excellent example of why the Libs work so dilligently to have absolute control over the media - It's the only way they can successfully run cover for the professional Left like Chuckie who themselves seek absolute control over the little sheeple. If they do mention it at all it will be along the lines of "everybody does it and are equally guilty" and "this is how the game is played" crap. “The Chosen”, by Chaim Potok, a best selling novel from 1967, found me recently, and I’ve been hooked into reading it---I can see why it was so popular.

It’s about a couple of New York Jewish guys from the age of 17 on---it’s an education, as well, about detailed history of Jews, from way back.

As far as religions go, there’s no doubt that Judaism produces humans of great excellence in far greater proportion than any others. With such a self-conscious awareness of their tragic history, as they learn as soon as they can, individuals who choose to have Jewish parents are definitely the most extreme examples of self verses other.

That is, they quickly enough find out that they are members of a tiny sect surrounded by an overwhelming majority of others who hate them---talk about an us verses a them!

I take reincarnation to be a fact. Not that it’s any consolation, because unless you are the Dali Lama, in human experience every new birth starts with no memory of past lives. Maybe a Bridey Murphy can be hypnotized to recall some stuff, but----

Eliding to the “Negro” problem, sometimes I wonder if those blacks alive today who have it the worst, in the USA, might have been white supremacist types in a previous life. I know---you can “rationalize” all kinds of crap, if you take this too far: even go crazy, like Nietzsche, by fully realizing what the “Eternal Return” could mean.

Well, life IS a pressure cooker! That’s why wisdom is to observe and understand, and as much as possible, transcend whatever arises---even in the clinging moment.

If Cantor (why article writer Mr. Jay Homnick sees the Virginian Congressman as someone to now look to....baffles me) and John Boehner could do what former majorities in the US House of Representatives have done, well, then the anti-American evils of Chuck Schumer, Boxer, Reid, & co. would all be marginalized.

We could regret Chuch Shumer still breathing and stealing oxygen in D.C. and the Big Apple, but he just wouldn't matter, whether still a US Senator or a street sweeper.

By the way, I guess we can all correctly say that Schumer was caught in a full Joseph Goebbels moment. Anyone remember back in January of this year when Rep. Steven Cohen compared the Republican disclosure of the ObamaCare bill to propaganda by Goebbels? Accusations by the left are CONFESSIONS in disguise - projection. Another leftie was caught on tape doing precisely what they have accused the right of doing. This has been their modus operandi for decades. Mr. Homnick, there is certainly no need to apologize for this piece. You have described sen. Schumer exactly as many of us see him, especially this sentence: "I saw the sleaziness, the deception, the insincerity, the manipulation -- and to cap it off, the absolute disdain for the people whose vote he sought." I might have added the word "vile" somewhere in that description.

Those traits are so obvious (particularly insincerity) one wonders how he generates voter support.

Let it not be forgotten that Charles Schumer is the biggest gun-hater in the Senate. I do not know whether or not he has one of those rarer-than-hen's-teeth NYC carry-permits, but I would not be surprised if he did.

Many decades ago, when I was an undergraduate, a Jewish friend told me that absolutely the vilest thing one could call a Jewish person, from a Jewish perspective, is Kapo orSonderkommando. These were the trustys in the death camps, the work-gang straw-bosses and the people who took the corpses out of the gas chambers and fed them into the furnaces. Red State is reporting that Boehner and the Boys are looking to cut a deal with "moderate" Ds that will keep Obamacare and NPR funding intact.
The weeper of the house is reported to be deathly afraid of a government shutdown. It ain't gonna happen on Boeher's watch. Schumer, the scum that he is, has succeeded, and it was so easy.
Only in Washington can 60% of government being fully operational be called a shutdown.But Boehner and the boys were not able to find the guts to make the case to the American people.
